Ficus: growing and care at home. Planting a ficus at home: all the rules you need to know

If you look into the houses of domestic flower growers, then most likely you can find such a plant as ficus. Many show interest in him not only because of the love of exoticism. Indeed, for many it is also important that it does not cause problems in care.

Per last years more and more novice flower growers are trying to acquire this indoor plant. Because of this, flower lovers are still interested in what conditions the ficus grows best, and what are the ways to reproduce it at home, how to root the ficus.

What is indoor ficus

Distinguished by external grace and ease of care, ficus seems to be one of the preferred species indoor plants, which will be appropriate not only in an ordinary apartmentbut also an office space.

Him useful qualities are not limited only to decorativeness, because it can maintain clean indoor air. This mulberry provides more than 900 varieties. And, despite the fact that they are found in different places on our planet, each of these varieties has healing properties.

For the treatment of skin diseases, it is useful to use ficus leaves. The fruit, which is called figs, is also valuable, because in addition to the original taste, it also has useful properties.

However, not all types of ficus are suitable for growing at home. Representation of this genus of plants includes different shapes ficus - handicraft, tree-like and ampelous... Moreover, among them, two tree-like forms can be distinguished, which are most widespread - Rubber and Benjamin.

Growing features

If you decide to start growing a ficus house, then it is best to go to the store for it in spring or summer. After all, it is important to protect this plant from temperature fluctuations. Regardless of the variety, ficus is extremely reacts poorly to change in temperature mode.

Drafts, which should be excluded during leaving, as well as choosing a place for ficus, do not benefit him either. Ficus feels best if it is grown in a well-lit placewhich must be protected from direct sunlight.

If you could get a ficus with dark leaves, then it is permissible to put it in partial shade. Experts recommend not to rush to choose a place for a flower, because here you need to do everything correctly without having to change the place.

It should be noted that ficus is one of those rare plants, which quickly get used to a new place, so a change in growing conditions will negatively affect its development.

Watering and temperature conditions

Maintaining favorable temperature regime is one of the factors successful cultivation ficus at home.

Moreover, in different times year the temperature will be different: in summer, the optimal temperature for ficus is within + 20 ... + 25 degrees, and in winter from + 12 to + 17.

No less important for ficus and watering. In the summer, you need to especially carefully monitor the ficus and constantly keep the soil moist, however, avoid gulfs.

To determine the frequency of such events, it is necessary to consider the variety of ficus. If your home grows dwarf plantthen watering may be more frequent.

Otherwise, you need to take care of all other species, which should be provided with more rare but plentiful watering. In addition, you need to carry out activities to maintain an optimal humidity level.

In summer this can be achieved by spraying plantsusing settled water. There is also an alternative way - containers filled with water can be placed next to the ficus pots.

Reproduction of ficus at home

I would like to repeat that ficuses are classified into three main types. And regardless of the species you choose for growing, you can easily get material for breeding from it.

True, in each case this event will be held with some differences. The least time-consuming is the reproduction of ampelous ficus, since it requires a minimum of time for rooting.

The situation is somewhat different with shrubs and tree-like forms, since their reproduction is a longer process in time, because later you will have to spend more energy on caring for cuttings or other planting material.

To date, the florist has the opportunity to choose one of the following methods of ficus propagation:

However, you must remember to observe general recommendations for any type of ficus that you decide to propagate at home:

  1. It is recommended to root rubber ficus in a warm season - for example, in spring or early summer.
  2. Due to the fact that ultraviolet light has a depressing effect on young specimens, it is not recommended to grow them in direct sunlight.
  3. When you have a cut stalk in your hands, it is recommended to rinse the cut site with water, because after this traumatic operation, juice may begin to flow from it. Next, you need to place the shoot on fresh air for drying the "wound".
  4. Ficus can propagate by cuttings, but it should be borne in mind that it is undesirable to use young shoots for these purposes, since it will not work to wait for the roots from them. Lignified shoots are the most suitable for grafting.
  5. If you plan to propagate tree-like forms of ficuses, for example, Rubber-bearing, then planting material it is recommended to take from the top of the trunk or you can cut a piece of the stem, which must have at least one node.

Cuttings

When using this breeding method, they harvest cuttings 15-17 cm long... Here you will definitely need sharp knife, and the operation itself is recommended to be carried out on one of the warm spring days.

Having counted the required distance from the top, while the first node should be at least 1 cm, it is necessary to make an oblique cut. When you receive the cutting, all leaves must be removed from it.

If you are borrowing a stalk from a large-leaved ficus, then the leaves present on it can be cut to half the length.

Having received the planting material, it placed in a containerfilled with water. When propagating rubbery ficus by cuttings, it is advisable to make a mini-greenhouse in order to speed up the rooting process.

In this case, the entire procedure will take no more than 2-5 weeks. When you notice young small leaves on the cuttings, this is a sure sign that it's time to transplant in individual pots.

Using cuttings with a leaf

When using this propagation method, cuttings that have a leaf are harvested. During harvesting, the shoot must be cut at an angle, and this must be done directly along the internode on the tree trunk.

After receiving the cutting it placed in the groundso that it is hidden in it until the very bottom of the sheet. In addition, you will need to conduct certain actions and with a leaf: it is rolled up and fixed in this position with a soft thread.

Subsequently, for the cuttings, similar care measures are taken as in the case of using ordinary cuttings. As a rule, this method allows, on average, to obtain a new seedling in 3-4 weeks.

However, in some cases there may be a delay or, conversely, the process may speed up, it all depends on the species that you are going to breed.

Propagation by air layers

At first, this operation was carried out mainly to rejuvenate the plant. However, it can also help in obtaining new ficus plants at home.

You can propagate by air layers adult specimens, which have long lost their decorative effect, as well as rather tall varieties, which have greenery only at the tops.

Usually, using this method, you can get new bushes after three weeks. This time will be enough for new roots to form at the incision site.

However, for now, the film should still be on the barrel. You can understand that it is time to remove it when many young roots appear on the surface of the moss. Further, the film is removed and the top is cut off, which subsequently transplanted into an individual container.

Ficus is one of the most common indoor plants not only abroad, but also in our country. Moreover, many not only successfully grow it in their apartment, but also reproduce it on their own.

There are a lot of options for obtaining new plants from ficus, however, in order to choose the most suitable one, it is useful at the beginning familiarize yourself with each of them... Indeed, some breeding methods may not be suitable for a florist for certain reasons.

At the same time, one must not forget that, regardless of the chosen propagation method, the seedling needs provide appropriate care.

Since without proper attention it will be difficult to count on the fact that an equally ornamental plant can be grown from a ficus seedling obtained in one way or another.

The plant grows and develops rapidly, therefore it requires frequent changes of the flower pot and soil. Planting a ficus is quite simple, but it is important to follow the basic recommendations so that adaptation to the changed conditions is painless. If you follow the procedure step by step, the bush will not shed the foliage, it will grow.

Basic rules for planting a plant

Can be used purchased seedling or propagated vegetatively. The sequence of actions remains almost unchanged. Depending on the species and variety, there may be slight differences in the procedure.

To plant a ficus at home successfully, several conditions must be met:

  • choose the right size of the pot, wash and disinfect the container;
  • purchase ready-made soil or make up a nutritious, lightweight, drained substrate from available tools;
  • to do warm water for watering, after leaving it to settle for a day;
  • prepare a transparent bag or glass jar to create greenhouse conditions;
  • strictly follow agrotechnical recommendations.

Preparing the substrate and pot

When planting ficus at home, the main thing is right choice containers and soil. The size of the pot when transferring depends on the parameters of the earthen coma. For young seedlings and seedlings, you need to take a small flower pot, while the roots should not touch the walls and the drainage layer, be located 2-4 cm further.

Choose a shape that is wide enough, but not flat. The material of the container for a young ficus is plastic, for an adult it is advisable to use unpainted ceramics.

Purchase a ready-made substrate or collect it from sod and deciduous land, river sand, peat in a ratio of 2: 2: 1: 1. To reduce the risk of root decay, do not add a large number of charcoal or ash. Add vermicompost as a nutrient. Natural materials it is recommended to spill it with boiling water or a solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection before use, bake the sand in the oven.

Procedure technology

The recommended time for the operation is spring, so that the plant has time to get used to the changed microclimate by the cold snap. In autumn and winter, it is permissible to transplant to a new place only if the integrity of the container is damaged, an unpleasant, musty smell from the soil appears, the root system is colonized by pests or the development of diseases. It is important to properly plant the ficus in a flower pot.

At the bottom, pour a drainage layer of expanded clay with a height of 2 cm. Then add the prepared soil mixture, for a young seedling, fill the container almost completely. Make a small hole, carefully place so that the roots do not bend, sprinkle with a substrate. After planting, water abundantly, removing excess liquid from the pan after 10-15 minutes. To create greenhouse conditions, cover with a transparent bag for a week. Adult specimens do not need this.

Transfer method

Prepare the container and nutrient soil in the same way. Pour drainage and 3-4 cm of fresh soil at the bottom. The plant in an old container can be slightly watered in advance, knock on the side surfaces so that the earthen ball moves away from the walls of the pot. Turn upside down by gently rolling the container and holding the houseplant. Take out the tree, then the ficus can be planted in a pot. Cover the space between the earthen clod and the walls with nutritious soil.

Do not bury the root collar, place it at the same level, otherwise decay will begin. Water abundantly, drain excess liquid from the pan. Don't worry if the plant sheds up to 30% of the leaves, as this is normal when adapting to a new environment. When transferred to a fresh substrate, it is advisable not to delay, since the root system needs nutrition.

Transplant with soil replacement

This procedure is carried out in 2 cases - the tree is too large to be transferred to a new pot or a disease has arisen, soil pests have appeared on the root system.

If the ficus is planted at home according to all the rules of agricultural technology, it receives timely and sufficient care, such problems rarely arise.

If it is necessary to completely replace the substrate, water the plant abundantly and carefully free the roots from the stuck earth. You can rinse a little in warm water. Remove all rotten, dry and with signs of infection. Treat with a weak solution of insecticide or fungicide. Plant in a prepared soil mixture.

In case of fungal infections, do not pour too much, spray the aerial part with the solution required in this case chemical preparation... At first, the plant will adapt to the new microclimate, so it is important to isolate it from exposure unfavorable factors - Drafts, gusts of wind, direct sunlight.

For adult specimens, transplantation is not performed. It is enough to replace the topsoil with a nutrient mixture. To do this, pour the bush with warm, settled water, remove the old soil by 5-6 cm. Fill with the same volume of the prepared substrate. It is desirable that it has a composition similar to the previous one. After the operation, moisten, remove excess liquid from the pan.

Subtleties of planting for rooting

When propagating ficus in a vegetative way, depending on the species, you can use a lateral or apical stalk, layering, leaves. It is necessary to get the planting material correctly. To do this, use only a sharp clerical knife or blade, the cut should be oblique. If torn off by hand or cut with scissors, torn edges, the rooting process is delayed, the risk of rotting of the cuttings increases. It is important to leave a few buds, in extreme cases there must be at least 1 healthy one, otherwise the plant will have nothing to develop from.

The resulting material should be kept in warm water for 1-2 hours so that the milky juice, which clogs the ducts, interferes with root formation, ceases to emerge. Then sprinkle the cut area with crushed activated carbon. Plant in moist soil. Rooting substrate can be made from special earth, sand or peat and perlite. In this case, a transplant will be required after the formation of 1-1.5 cm of roots. If desired, it is allowed to grow a ficus from the shoot immediately in the nutrient soil, so that the transshipment can be carried out when the root system of the selected container is filled. The pot should not be too large to prevent rotting of the cutting.

How to grow ficus from a leaf

This method has some peculiarities, since such planting material takes root somewhat worse. The method is suitable for rubbery ficus; growing a young plant is required according to the rules:

  • the leaf must be cut off with a bud, otherwise the roots will appear, but the plant will not be able to develop and give new shoots;
  • use a sharp knife or blade to take planting material;
  • rinse the milky juice from the cut, dry it a little, treat with Kornevin's solution, sprinkle with crushed activated carbon;
  • rooted in a light soil mixture or ready-made substrate for ficuses;
  • twist the sheet plate with a tube to reduce the evaporation surface, tie it with a thread or clerical elastic;
  • create a greenhouse under a glass jar or transparent bag.

Growing from a leaf involves periodic airing and moistening of the planting material. The cover can be started to be removed briefly before being transferred to a new pot.

When the roots appear, transplant into a prepared container, create greenhouse conditions for another week, gradually increasing the time in the air without a bag.

How to grow a ficus from a twig

Cut the stalk in the same way, at an angle of 45 °, prepare for the procedure in the same way. A ficus shoot is allowed to be planted without roots immediately in a nutritious substrate. To do this, wash off the milky juice, process the resulting cut site, remove the leaves to a height of 3-4 cm. Pour 2 cm of expanded clay, soil mixture into the prepared container, water abundantly. Put the stalk in the hole, deepen the twig 2-3 cm, sprinkle with earth. Root in greenhouse conditions under a jar or bag. Further steps repeat the sequence of growing a ficus from a leaf plate with a bud.

The importance of transplanting after purchase

Having brought the plant from the store, you must immediately put the flower in its permanent place. You can not touch it for about 2 weeks, creating the necessary microclimate. The bush can shed some of the foliage, this is a physiological process of adaptation to the changed room conditions, you do not need to worry. In a home environment, the culture must be properly grown, since the plant can lose its decorative effect or die. After the purchase, a transplant is necessary, because the store substrate contains chemical additives to maintain its presentation and is not suitable for long-term use.

It should take about 2 weeks before the procedure. The pot should be chosen in accordance with the size of the root system, most likely you will need a little more than it was when you purchased. It is not necessary to use the transshipment method, on the contrary, it is desirable most replace the soil mixture. Rinsing is not required, as well as trying to peel off absolutely all the ground. Further, the process is similar to a transplant with a complete soil replacement. It is recommended to use a light, neutral nutrient substrate.

Ficus is often grown at home. The culture is fast growing and requires periodic replanting. Correct planting is the key to successful plant cultivation. The tree is demanding about conditions environment, but complicated care is not needed. It is enough to follow the general agrotechnical recommendations.

Ficus is one of the most common types of indoor plants, which is famous for its unpretentiousness and quick adaptation at home.

Previously, I only met in apartments rubbery ficus.

The last decades are popular ficus benjamin... It can be grown in the form of a bush or tree, as the flower is easy to form. Ficus Benjamin is considered by many to be a family talisman, and the house in which it grows especially magnificently is considered prosperous.

Ficus Benjamin there are a great many varieties that differ both in the shape of the leaves, their color, and in size.

How to care for ficuses

Choosing a place

Caring for ficuses primarily involves choosing the right place. Benjamin's ficuses, especially variegated forms, love a lot of light, and shed their leaves in the shade, while at the same time they do not tolerate direct sunlight.

Ideal for him would be a place about a meter from the window, which does not shine too much sun. If the flower likes the chosen place, then it should be left there and not experimenting. On summer period you can arrange for him air baths - take out to a balcony, loggia or take out to a summer cottage.

So that the plant does not start falling leaves ahead of time, it must be regularly sprayed from a spray bottle or bathed under the shower.
AT winter period, with a lack of sunlight, leaf fall may also begin. To prevent this, you need to use artificial lighting using phytolamps.

Maintenance temperature and watering

Like any plant from warm countries, ficus is quite thermophilic. Ficuses are kept in warm conditions, in summer - 25-30 degrees, in winter at least 10, for variegated forms at least 15C.
Some species, for example, deciduous figs, require cool wintering, they are kept at a temperature of at least 6C.

I brought the fig tree from Turkey, it has been growing for the 4th year, but it does not want to bloom and bear fruit yet.

Common varieties of ficuses, which can be bought in stores, winter in warm conditions, they need to be isolated from drafts, frost and sharp changes temperatures.

Watering the ficuses should be done carefully; in tree varieties, the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings. You need to water the ficus with warm, settled water.

To make sure whether you need watering the flower, you need to deepen your finger into the ground a couple of centimeters, if the ground is dry, then you can safely water it.

I recommend watering as follows - pour water on top until water appears in the pan, leave for 20-30 minutes, and then pour out the rest of the water from the pan.
There is another way to water, this is how I water large plants with a large pot. I water a little on top and pour water into the pan, usually the plant drinks water in 20 minutes, after this time I pour out the rest.

In winter, watering should be careful, although due to the heating system of the apartments, the air in the apartments is dry, and sometimes it is necessary to water even more often than in summer.

When watering ficus, do not forget to regularly loosen the soil in the pot. Thanks to this, water will flow better and faster to the roots of the plant and nourish it.

Fertilization and feeding

Ficus is an unpretentious plant, it loves soil consisting of turf, peat, leafy earth and sand in a ratio of 1: 1: 1: 1, or special soil from a store. Fertilizing the soil is important in the first two months of spring, when each plant starts growing. In March-April, we fertilize once, then, when summer approaches, we increase the feeding up to 3-4 times a month.
Fertilizers are used both special for ficuses and universal for decorative deciduous plants.

How to properly transplant ficus and when to do it

For transplanting ficuses, the most optimal time is the end of February and the whole of March, i.e. when the spring sun began to play on the street. This will help the plant adapt to both the new land and the new pot, and possibly a new location.

During the annual transplant, not only need to change the ground, but also increase the volume of the pot by 4-5 cm.

When transplanting ficus, try not to touch its roots and do not throw clods of earth from them. Such a procedure can severely damage them, and subsequently the plant will grow poorly in a new pot. It is ideal to transplant ficus using the transfer method.

Moreover, if the diameter of the pot has reached 30 cm, then it is no longer necessary to replant it every year, but it is enough to change the top layer of the soil, and replant it every 4-5 years.

Ficus propagation

The ficus is propagated by cuttings, while the cutting should be at least 10-12 cm, with two or three pairs of healthy leaves. In order for the cutting to take root, it is enough to put it in water. For ficuses with large leaves, I recommend cutting the leaves in half, so that the cutting has strength for the formation of roots.

The roots will appear in 1.5-2 weeks, after which it can be safely planted in the ground. The diameter of the pot can be no more than 10 cm, for better adaptation, you can make a greenhouse in the first days using a package, plastic cup or halves of a bottle.

Difficulties in growing ficuses

Sometimes when improper care problems arise when growing ficuses.

  • Leaves turned yellow, drooping - occur with excessive watering and stagnant water, which leads to decay of the roots. The first sign is a darkening of the stem, an unpleasant odor from the pot. If not a very neglected case, then you can simply stop watering and let the earthy coma dry out, and daily loosen the top layer of the soil. In advanced cases, it will be necessary to replace the earth, pruning rotten roots, while after trimming the roots, they will need to be treated with root or charcoal, and the flower should be transplanted into a pot with a smaller diameter.

  • Brown leaves - with insufficient feeding.
  • The tips of the leaves are dry, brown - this happens when the air is dry; to avoid this, you need to bathe the plant in the shower, spray it or use a humidifier.
  • The appearance on the leaves of red spots 1-3 mm in size is observed upon action scorching sun, insufficient watering, low air humidity. Therefore, protection from direct sunlight is required, correct watering, increase in air humidity.

Ficus diseases

The pests that most often infect ficuses are:
Shield - a translucent speck appears on the inner surface of the sheet brown.

It needs to be treated with acaricides. You can also process folk remedies... Collect the scabbards with a damp cotton swab and treat with a solution of soap with kerosene (for 1 liter of water, 40 grams of soap and 5 drops of kerosene). Or grease the leaves with onion and garlic gruel (1 teaspoon per glass of water), thus depriving the pests of the opportunity to drink the juice of the plant.

Mealybug - resembles pieces of cotton wool, a brown pest, sucks out juice, plant growth slows down. It is necessary to clean the leaves, treat it three times with soapy water or a tobacco solution.

Spider mite - if white thin threads are noticed on the branches and on the underside of the leaves, then this is a spider mite. The spider mite does not tolerate moisture, the plant must be rinsed in the shower and the leaves must be treated laundry soap... Put a plastic bag on top and create a humid greenhouse environment. You can treat the leaves with a mixture of grated onion and garlic, aged for 24 hours, one teaspoon per 1 liter of water. Spraying should be done three times with an interval of 7-10 days.

Thrips - settles on inside along leaf veins, leaves dark brown spots, spreads viruses. Requires repeated treatment with Aktelik, Aktara, Tanrek and complete isolation from other plants.

Ficus from the Mulberry family is evergreenwhich can grow in the form of a tree, shrub or liana. In many residential and office premises it has become an integral part of the interior, purifying and enriching the air with oxygen. Its popularity is also due to the fact that caring for a ficus at home, while meeting its requirements for humidity and lighting, is very simple.

Ficus: types, varieties and nuances of cultivation

The numerous genus in the wild includes more than 900 varieties, some of which are also grown as pot crops.

Ficus rubber (elastic)

View with massive leathery sheet plates painted in dark green color... In a room environment, it has poor branching. With proper care, allowing the exotic representative to fully develop from early spring to late autumn, its height can exceed 2 m. In case of damage from the culture, milky juice is released, which is used in industry for the manufacture of rubber. The species, also known in the scientific literature as ficus elastica, has its own preferences in keeping: an abundance of bright, but diffused light, a moderate temperature regime both in summer and winter.

Ficus Melanie

A variety of rubbery ficus with branching shoots, on which aerial roots are formed over time. Leathery dark green leaves, arranged alternately, when formed, have a reddish-brown tint, which is not characteristic of the main species. When cultivating the variety, you should not allow too low a moisture level.

Ficus robusta

An unpretentious variety of rubber-bearing ficus, which is distinguished by thick leaf plates with a characteristic color for the species. Due to its massiveness, it is an excellent air purifier in the room of detention.

Bengal ficus

In its natural habitat, this species is distinguished by the form of life of banyan trees, in which the ficus begins to develop on a larger plant. It puts down aerial roots, which, after reaching the ground and rooting, turn into a trunk. Oval leaves, painted green, have pronounced light veins. When leaving an apartment, you should be guided by general recommendations for the content.

Ficus Benjamin

A very popular species in indoor floriculture, distinguished by oblong leaf plates of various colors up to 12 cm in length and up to 6 cm in width (the color will depend on the variety). Branching shoots, which form a voluminous crown, are covered with dark gray bark with transverse brownish strokes. The features of the variety that affect the care of Benjamin's ficus include a dislike of frequent moisture, intolerance to direct sunlight, and differences in the conditions of flower placement depending on the color of the leaves.

Ficus Kinky

Among all varieties of Benjamin's ficus, the Kinki ficus deserves special attention, which differs from the main form in its diminutiveness and variegated greenery with cream edging.

Ficus Microcarpa (ficus bonsai)

A tree-like plant, which in nature reaches 25 m in height, has a dense crown. The long elliptical leaves are glossy and green in color. The variety begins to develop as an epiphytic plant, which, as it grows, crushes the trunk of the host. But due to the weakness of aerial roots, the species is not able to transform into a banyan tree. In the apartment environment, culture became widespread due to the unusual shape of the root system and beauty lush crown... Also known as ficus bonsai.

Lyre ficus

The variety owes its name to the foliage resemblance to the lyre. Large, slightly wrinkled leaf plates, reaching 50 cm in length and 25 cm in width, are decorated with pronounced veins. Aerial roots are absent or underdeveloped. At home, it needs to create a microclimate close to natural, with high humidity and without temperature extremes.

Ficus Ali

A fairly new, but already won admirer, variety of ficus Binnendijka. A variety with a graceful trunk and a very dense crown, consisting of rough shoots and oblong, shiny leaves up to 50 cm long. The color of the leaf plates, depending on the shape and variety, can be either monochromatic or with spots of other shades. When growing a representative of the tropics, it is worth considering the weight of the crown and installing a support next to the thin trunk that will allow it to withstand the load.

Many gardeners often ask themselves the question - how to properly plant a ficus in a pot?

Planting a plant is best done in the spring after the end of the dormant period. The root system and the neck of the plant are freed from the transport soil.

Through mosquito net or a piece of foam blocking the drain holes.

A drainage layer of pebbles, expanded clay or broken brick... Then the drainage is filled up with an earth mixture two centimeters high.

Advice:it is best to use a nutritious breathable soil.

Black soil mixed with peat and mineral fertilizers... The ficus is installed in the center and the remaining soil is poured in parts along the edges.

The soil is slightly compacted to avoid subsidence. For convenience behind the plant, the earth is not poured to the very top, while leaving 5-7 centimeters from the edge.

A drainage layer is laid on top of the soil, creating the necessary microclimate in the tank.

To support the crown of the ficus, it is necessary to install a support peg. After planting, the plant is watered abundantly with settled water.

Scion

How to plant a ficus with a shoot at home? It is not difficult, the best period for planting a ficus shoot is spring.

For the rooting and adaptation of the plant, summer sunny weather is necessary.

When planting a shoot in the fall, the young ficus will not have time to prepare for "wintering" and may die. More information about the vulnerability of ficus in winter can be found in. How to properly plant a ficus shoot without roots at home?

For planting, use the top of the ficus 10 centimeters long. The stalk should be cut at an acute angle.

To extract the juice, the appendix is \u200b\u200bimmersed in warm water for 60-100 minutes and then carefully dried.

To obtain roots, the stem is immersed in water at room temperature and charcoal is added to it.

When evaporating, it is necessary to add water to the bottom leaves of the stem. Within 30-40days, the shoot is kept in a warm room without drafts and direct exposure to abundant sunlight. With the advent of the root system, cuttings begin to be planted.

A light, breathable substrate is well suited, which should include coarse-grained sand.

For the gradual development of plant roots, it is necessary to choose small containers. If you use a large pot, then root system flower will fill the space for a long time. Only after this will the ficus begin to grow.

The plant is placed in the center of the container. Prepared soil is poured along the edges. Ficus is watered abundantly.

Important:after planting, it is necessary to install a thin support. Otherwise, the flower may start growing horizontally.

Important! For planting, do not choose too long shoots more than 20 centimeters long.

There are a large number of leaves on such cuttings, so the moisture will evaporate intensively.

Long stems without roots wither too quickly and become unsuitable for planting.

Sheet

Frequently asked question: how can you plant a ficus from a leaf? For active growth of the flower, a leaf should be cut with a small piece of the stem.

If you plant one leaf, then such a plant will not be a full-fledged flower.

The lower cut is placed in the middle of the internode.

The leaves are cut strictly from the main trunk of the plant or its lateral branches.

Pruning must be done with gloves, and after the procedure, hands are washed well, since the plant sap is poisonous.

Its contact with eyes, on human skin causes allergic reactions and severe burns.

To remove sap from the stem of the plant, keep the leaf in a stream cold water... The planting material is dried for two hours.

The sheet is rolled up and tied with a thin thread.

A small stick is pushed into a folded sheet and stuck into the ground of the pot.

Important:the stick should be several centimeters longer than the folded sheet.

It will serve as a support for the plant in order to avoid horizontal growth of the ficus.

The soil is used purchased, which is pre-mixed in equal quantities with peat or humus.

Drainage is laid at the bottom of the container, since the ficus does not like strong waterlogging.

The sheet is placed in the middle of the container and prepared soil is poured along the edges. For the necessary microclimate, pebbles are laid on top.

Seeds

Ficus seeds are sold in specialized flower shops.

You must select undamaged material.

The grains are pre-soaked for 2 hours in water at room temperature.

Then shift for 24 hoursinto the growth stimulant mixture.

For this procedure, the preparations "Gumat", "Epin" are suitable.

The use of stimulants helps to combat various diseases.

It is better to use several pots for planting. Seeds are planted in the ground, one piece per container.

The immersion of grains should not exceed 0.5 centimeters. They should not be planted too deeply, as there will be a chance of seed rot in the soil. The planting material is sprinkled with sand or purchased substrate.

The flower grows best in breathable soils.

A mixture of coarse sand, deciduous soil and peat.

After planting, the soil should not be watered, since the seeds can be washed away with a powerful stream of water.

Advice: Better to use a spray bottle.

The water should not be icy or too hot.

After landing through plastic bottle or glass jar create a greenhouse climate.

In such conditions, the future plant will quickly grow and take root.
