The test server in World of Tanks 1.6.1 is a regular server where new maps, features, tanks and other game innovations are tested. It is impossible to get to the WOT test server when the player wants it - it opens only at a certain time, when the game developers need it.

What is a test server and why is it needed?

Test server - this is the repository where the copy is stored and reproduced, but with some changes. Of course, before you make any changes to the game, you first need to test them.
The first to see changes in the WOT development staff, then give access to super-testers. If there are flaws, then they are corrected and the version of the new client is tested already under load. They "upload" a test version of the client to the backup server and open access to everyone. Once again, the development staff is looking for bugs and shortcomings. After that, they fix and "roll out" a new version of the client.

How to get to the WOT test server

To get to the test server, you need to download a special installer 1.6.1 or install Wargaming Game Center. Then run it. He will offer to download a test client - download it and install it. Next, a folder will be created World_of_Tanks_CT (in the directory where the player specified during installation).

Everything is ready to go! We click on the shortcut of the test client and get to the login and login page. We go under our nickname and password, and choose one of the two test servers.

Multinationality

What is multinationality?

Important! We can only change the crew in the hangar, it will be impossible to do this in battle.

Why is this needed?

In order to pump the crew of different nations on the same car. If players like the idea, the developers promised to add more multinational tanks to the game.

Update 9.20 is out for general testing. Battles in the "30 vs 30" format are waiting for you, Chinese tank destroyers and vehicle rebalancing - about it, and soon you will find other materials about changes in version 9.20.

Ranked Battles

The first beta season of Ranked Battles has just ended. We've reviewed all of your feedback and want to make changes that should improve the gameplay in the second beta season. These are the ones we will test in the general test of the 9.20 update.

Basic Mechanic Changes

One of the most discussed topics on the forum concerned the simplicity of the regime. The basic matchmaking mechanics worked, but reaching Rank 5 was not a real challenge for experienced tankers.

We tried to fix this by changing the mechanics of getting chevrons and ranks. The number of ranks will remain the same, but the number of chevrons required to reach the ranks will change. The distance between the ranks will be as follows: 1-3-5-7-9 chevrons. It only takes one chevron to reach the first rank, and as many as nine will be needed to move from the fourth to the fifth rank.

In addition, the mechanics of vehicle ranks will change. In the second beta season, any rank will cost 5 chevrons.

The mechanics of obtaining chevrons will also change. On the winning team, the chevron earns the top 10 players by experience. The other 5 winning players as well as the top 5 players of the losing team do not earn a chevron. Finally, the remaining 10 players on the losing team lose their chevron.

In this way, we want to encourage players to interact: despite personal results in ranked battles, victory remains a team achievement. That is why we have expanded the list of players who do not lose their chevron if the team loses. This means that even if the battle is unsuccessful and the enemy is pushing in all directions, you should not give up. You need to continue helping your allies - your efforts will be rewarded.

Balancer improvements

We found several critical issues related to balance. And here's how we're going to solve them:

  • We will improve the balance between teams in terms of the number of medium and heavy tanks.
  • Let's limit the number of SPGs per team to two units.
  • Let's add more cards and significantly improve their rotation. This will reduce the chances of hitting the same card all the time.

Reward

We will also review the mechanics of receiving the reward. From now on, you will not have to wait until the end of the season to receive the bulk of the bonuses you earn. The value of the awards will also increase.

Testing stages

Testing of the second beta season of Ranked Battles will take place during the general test of Update 9.20. Join - the next stage will last until August 9.

Improvements in the client

  • Added the ability to receive marks for a weapon and class badges not only in random battles, but also in the "Ranked Battle" mode.
  • The influence of Pre-battle instructions on the performance characteristics of vehicles is now displayed in info windows and simplified performance characteristics.
  • Added the ability to set Pre-Battle Instructions in the vehicle comparison interface to take into account their impact.
  • Added the ability to enable auto-replenishment of pre-battle instructions in the purchase window.
  • Upgraded equipment can now only be removed for booms.
  • Added display of the vehicle rank on the vehicle panel (in the "carousel"), indicating a specific value for each vehicle when the "Ranked Battle" mode is selected.
  • The interface for displaying the received award in the last stage has been improved. Information about the received reward is also displayed in the tooltip on hovering to the rank.
  • Redesigned the calendar interface in the mode. Information about prime times on each server for the selected day is now displayed in the calendar window (instead of in the tooltip, as before).
  • Changed the list of maps for playing in the mode. Now battles take place on the following maps:

  • Added special hints to the Ranked Battle loading screen explaining the main mechanics and features of the mode. A separate option has also been added that allows you to customize the loading screen specifically for this mode. You can choose one of three options for displaying the loading screen in the "Ranked battle" mode (it works the same as in random battles, but only works for ranked battles):
    • text only;
    • with illustration;
    • minimap.

Improvements to the display of season leaders

  • Added an archive of events - you can see the statistics of players for the past season.
  • Added filters: clanmates and friends. You can see where your friends or clanmates are on the season leaderboard.

Improvements to crew stun mechanics

  • The duration of the inflicted stun has been added to the post-battle statistics.
  • Improved mechanics of dealing damage and stunning through obstacles. Now the SPG will not inflict damage through obstacles more than 2 meters thick if the target is completely hidden behind them. In this case, the blast wave can slightly bend around the corners of obstacles. To do this, the distance from the point of impact to the edge of the obstacle must be less than 2 meters, however, the damage from the explosion will decrease.
  • Reload time for 12,8 cm Kw.K. 44 L / 55 gun from 12 s to 13.3 s
  • Durability decreased from 3200 to 3000 HP.
  • Decreased dispersion during movement of the Jagdtiger 8.8 suspension by 6%.
  • Decreased dispersion on hull traverse of the Jagdtiger 8.8 suspension by 6%.
  • Changed the traverse speed of the Jagdtiger 8.8 suspension from 22 to 26 deg / s.

We have preliminary updates for version 9.20 ready: vehicle rebalancing, new tank destroyers in China, and much more.

Please note: the list is not final. We will publish the final information just before the release of the update.

So, the 9.20 Supertest will be available today. The update will take into account your feedback on the stun mechanics and the revision of the research tree, as well as add a 30v30 format to random battles. New Chinese tank destroyers will also appear on the supertest.

The supertest is carried out at the earliest stages of development - as a rule, one and a half months before the release of the update - and it is designed to check changes, as well as to find critical errors before the stage of open testing. Supertests in World of Tanks are divided into technical tests (new maps, vehicle balance, etc.) and version tests (update integrity).

When the supertest stage is over, the general tests begin, where any player can evaluate the changes.

Rebalancing technique

We will focus on four nations: Japan, France, USA and USSR. There will also be some changes to the German Tech Tree. They will affect the following machines:

SPG class changes

Improvements to the ACS have continued since the release of Update 9.18. For several months we have been analyzing your feedback and statistics of the changes that have occurred. And now we will make a number of improvements to make the gameplay more comfortable for both SPG players and other combatants.

The increased radius of dispersion of the fragments led to situations where the player, who considered himself safe in cover, still received damage. To prevent such cases from happening, we have improved the mechanics of calculating damage and stuns by adding a number of additional parameters when shooting through obstacles:

  • You won't have to worry about artillery fire if the structure (destructible or indestructible) that is used for cover is 2 m or more thick, and your vehicle is completely covered behind it. There you will be safe: your car will not be damaged or stunned.
  • A vehicle standing behind a fence or a small structure less than 2 m thick will take damage and be stunned, just like in open areas.
  • The third scenario: the structure is solid (2 m or more), but the car is not completely hidden behind it (for example, the stun occurred at the moment of arrival behind the cover). In this case, the duration of the stun and the damage will depend on which part of the vehicle was fired upon. Depending on the area under fire, the car will receive:
    • 25% of total damage and stun time;
    • 50% of total damage and stun time;
    • 75% of total damage and stun time;
    • 100% of all damage and stun time.

We will make changes to the post-battle message interface: in order to fully display the player's combat effectiveness, information on the total time of the stun inflicted will be displayed in the battle results.

Chinese tank destroyers

Nine tank destroyers in China are already warming up their engines and ready to show themselves on the battlefield! Yes, we're talking about a tech branch that came out on China's servers a few months ago. Now this branch of cars will be available to all players.

New format in the "Random battle" mode

Would you like to test your playing skills in combat other than 15v15? Well, you will soon have that opportunity. In Update 9.20, a new type of battle will be available in the game called "General Battle" in the "30v30" format. 60 players will fight on the new 1.4x1.4 km Nebelburg map, created specifically for this type of battle.

General Battle is an exclusive for Tier X vehicles. This type is based on the standard rules of the game: capture the enemy's base or destroy all his equipment. The number of SPGs is limited to 4 vehicles per team to ensure a comfortable gameplay for all types of vehicles. "General battle" is similar to oncoming battle and assault - it can be enabled or disabled in the game settings.
