Materials of the same class E2 and E3 can only be used for outdoor work.

  • smell of slabs. With high content harmful substances the material smells strongly of formalin and cheap plastic;
  • products must have a certificate certified by the stamp from the manufacturer or supplier. A copy of the document can be requested from the seller;
  • it will also not be superfluous to inspect the packaging, if any. Products from major manufacturers are usually labeled and provided with information inserts.

How to make a partition from OSB inside the house and with what screws to fix it?

OSB - quite suitable material for construction internal partitions rooms. The strength and light weight of the sheets clearly testify in favor of this product. OSB boards can be mounted on (like gypsum board) or on a wooden frame.

If the second option is used, the wood should be treated protective materials from mold and mildew, as well as fire protective equipment.

  1. At the place of installation of the structure, markings are made. Lines are drawn along the floor and ceiling, which will serve as guidelines for the installation of horizontal guides.

  4. The spacing between the posts depends on the width of the slab, which is different. So, if the transverse size of the OSB sheet is 125 cm (a value inherent in European brands), then optimal distance between the axes of the vertical beams - 62.5 cm. In this case, it will be possible to screw the edges and the middle of the slab to the frame.

  5. After installing the racks, the OSB panels are mounted.

They are fixed with self-tapping screws, whose length depends on the thickness of the sheets and should be 45-50 mm more than this value. For example, when using a material with a thickness of 12 mm, the recommended length of self-tapping screws will be 60-65 mm.

Self-tapping screws are screwed in the middle of the plate with a step of 30 cm, at the edges - every 15 cm. The distance from the edge is 1 cm. A gap of 1 cm is left between the plates and the floor. The same gap should remain between the OSB and the ceiling.

Also, the panels should not be installed close to each other, but at a distance of 3 mm from each other. This will protect the sheets from deformation due to changes in humidity.

Internal wall cladding

This process, just like the above procedure, requires the preliminary construction of a frame, for which all the same wooden beams or profile are used. Now an example for arranging the lathing will serve metal version as the timber frame was discussed earlier.

  4. By stretching a nylon thread under the frame perpendicular to it, you will get a guideline for alignment. So that the sagging profiles do not interfere, raise them higher, wrapping them in the wings of the suspensions. After that, the profiles at the height of the thread are attached to the guides and hangers with small self-tapping screws.

Advice! When trying to fix hangers on concrete slab you will surely face a problem: the dowels will slip inward due to the fact that the concrete mass is hollow. You can get around this obstacle by using flared dowels. Impact anchors will also work if you choose a different screw.

Since the hangers are mounted on 6 mm dowels, screws with a diameter of 4-5 mm are the best. Neglecting this recommendation will result in the dowel falling out of the hole, since it will not be expanded sufficiently.

Warming

The easiest way is to insert insulation material between the profiles and fill the joints polyurethane foam... This method is best if the foam acts as a thermal pillow. Although, according to the same principle, mineral wool can be laid with a special condition: its edges must be pushed under the frame, since the foam by itself will not hold such a soft material.

Foiled polyethylene foam (penofol) also copes well with the task of insulation. Having prepared a single canvas, the dimensions of which are consistent with the parameters of the ceiling, it must be attached to the frame using a mounting stapler, and the joints must be glued with tape. On top of the foam layer, slats are attached, to which, in turn, lining or any other cladding material.

Advice! Be careful if your choice falls on mineral wool... Wear protective equipment (such as goggles, a respirator, and closed clothing) to prevent fiber dust from entering your body and respiratory tract.

  1. Whether it's screws for wood or metal frames, you can use products up to 25mm in length.
  2. Before hiding the unsightly texture of the OSB with painting, you need to fix the gaps at the joints with wood putty. When painted, oriented strand board will be indistinguishable from drywall.

Create indoors comfortable conditions and to make it warm and cozy, the cladding will allow garage OSB plates. This modern finishing material is suitable for wall and ceiling cladding and has many advantages over the usual plywood or clapboard.

OSB plates called panels made of wood shavings. It is a building material consisting of wood shavings (thin chips) glued together with various resins with the addition of synthetic wax and boric acid... Sawdust from coniferous and other species in them is laid in several longitudinal and transverse layers, impregnated with paraffin and various synthetic resins. To impart strength and durability, the material is pressed under pressure at high temperatures.

The resulting slabs are durable, do not have cracks, chips and other flaws. Wall cladding with this material has many advantages:

  • such plates do not delaminate;
  • thanks to antiseptic impregnation, fungi and mold do not appear on them;
  • panels are flexible and easy to install on uneven surfaces;
  • the cladding does not collapse from moisture ingress.

How large is the amount of synthetic resin, the labeling of the product will tell. The largest number of these components are found in the E2 and E3 class slabs, and the smallest in the E0 and E1 panels. Since the garage is not a living space, it can be finished with OSB with any markings.

Installation steps

To sheathe the garage OSB panels, a frame made of metal or wooden beams... If the choice is made in favor of wood, it must be pretreated with fire retardant impregnation and solutions against mold and mildew.

First, markings are made inside the garage. With curved walls, to draw the marking lines, you need to select the most protruding section and use it as a reference point.

On the markup mount horizontal bars fixing them with dowels or self-tapping screws. Then using metal corners, vertical racks are attached to the horizontal rails. The installation of the frame is complete.

Now it remains to trim the racks with OSB panels. They are attached to the frame with self-tapping screws, the length of which should be 4-5 cm greater than the sheet thickness. During installation, a gap of about 3 mm should be left between the plates - this will avoid deformation of the panels due to humidity or temperature extremes.

To further protect facing materials from aggressive impact external factors, they can be varnished for woodworking. Previously, the surface of the OSB board should be degreased and lightly sanded with sandpaper.

You can also make a prefabricated frame on which to sew up OSB plates. But the principle is still the same.
