How to make a wardrobe with your own hands. What materials is the furniture made of? Chipboard, MDF, fiberboard Making doors for a sliding wardrobe with your own hands

A sliding wardrobe is not only fashionable, but also a very convenient interior detail. In our cramped apartments, wardrobes with sliding doors have perfectly taken root, because they take up much less space... The wardrobe fits very well computer desk and disappears as soon as you close the cabinet door ... Yes, such cabinets are just a godsend, because they are made according to individual orders and embody almost any of our wishes. But when we are just going to buy a wardrobe, a lot of questions arise.

What is the wardrobe made of?

When buying a wardrobe, each of us should be important what material it is made of. In most cases, chipboard is used for these purposes ( particle board): a cabinet made of this material comes out strong, durable and, importantly, inexpensive. But there are some nuances that you need to be aware of.
For example, you see on the closet P-A marking, 1, M, Sh, E1, GOST 10632-89. It's getting scary, isn't it?
But here everything is simple: PA, 1, M, W - this is a fine-structured (M) sanded (W) chipboard of the first grade (1 in the marking) brand P-A... It is in this version that the so-called " furniture chipboard". It is not at all necessary to know the meaning of each of the designations, the main thing is to remember that it is such a chipboard that should be used in the manufacture of furniture.
The main interest is the designation E1 in the chipboard marking. It denotes how high the content of formaldehyde resins in the chipboard is. The fact is that chipboard is made from wood shavings and sawdust, which are held together by these very formaldehyde resins. Over time, formaldehyde resins begin to release into the air, and this is hazardous to health. There are two types of chipboard: E1 and E2. Chipboard E1 emits less harmful vapors into the air. But E2 chipboard is very toxic, so it is even forbidden to use it in the production of children's furniture. It is this point that should be paid primary attention.
In addition, if you are interested in a wardrobe for a bathroom or other room with high humidity, choose a chipboard with a high level of moisture resistance - it is denoted by the letter "B".
Naturally, cabinets made of simple sanded chipboard cannot please us with a wide variety of colors and textures, therefore, laminated chipboard is used in the production of furniture. Unlike ordinary chipboard, it is covered with a layer of paper-resin film. The paper is covered with a layer of thermosetting polymers, which is firmly soldered to the chipboard. Laminated chipboard is durable and resistant to any damage.
MirSovetov recommends: read on the label which chipboard was used in the manufacture of your cabinet: laminated or laminated. The fact is that at an equal cost, laminated chipboard begins to crumble quickly and the film begins to lag behind, so that a cabinet made of such chipboard will quickly lose its attractive appearance. Of course, you can order a wardrobe made of solid natural wood. But it will be several times more expensive.
Another material for sliding wardrobes is MDF. In fact, this is the same chipboard, only made using an improved technology. Dried wood fibers are formed into boards, treated with binders and hot pressed. As a result, there is no phenol and other substances hazardous to health in MDF. MDF is very resistant to high humidity, fungi and bacteria.

Now there are two types of systems for sliding wardrobes: steel and aluminum. Steel systems are durable, strong and inexpensive, so they are classified as "economy class". Due to the heavy weight of the structures, the wardrobe looks more rough, in addition, the steel rollers will be visible from the outside. Sliding wardrobes of luxury class are equipped with aluminum frames and a special door opening mechanism. Naturally, they are much more expensive, although they are not inferior to steel ones in strength, because with the help of special additives, aluminum can be given a very high hardness, while maintaining ease of processing.
The wardrobe door is fully inserted into the steel or aluminum frame, to which the rollers are attached from above or below. In high-quality cabinets, the rollers are attached from below, and on top there is only a guide "rail". The "rails" on which the rollers roll have high edges, so the rollers do not fly off the rails when they open abruptly. If, on the contrary, the door hangs on rollers and is not secured by anything from below, the mechanism will fail very quickly, the door will constantly slide off the "rails". The rollers on the luxury wardrobes are put on special ones - on ball bearings. This ensures silent door opening.

The sliding wardrobe can be made as a cabinet or fully built-in.
A cabinet-type wardrobe differs from a conventional wardrobe only in the design of the doors, but otherwise they are very similar.
But the built-in wardrobe has a lot of differences. Firstly, to install a built-in wardrobe, you only need a back wall and two side walls. A frame is built into the opening between the side walls, the floor and the ceiling, doors are installed on it - and the wardrobe is ready. At your request, the side and back wall, or only some of them, can be used in the design of the built-in wardrobe.
Now you need to decide how many shelves and sections you will have in your closet. It all depends on what kind of wardrobe you need. If the wardrobe is installed in, it probably should have sections for outerwear and hats, as well as for shoes.
The hanger for outerwear can be of two types. In the first version, these are one or two bars installed parallel to the door, on which there will be clothes hangers. In the case of two rods, the higher one is used for long and fur coats, and hangers-hangers with shirts, jackets or blouses are placed on the lower one. In the second version, if the wardrobe is not deep enough (less than 60 cm), short end rods are reinforced on the back wall perpendicular to the door. These rods are often made movable, making it much easier to find the things you want.
Advice from MirSovetov: when ordering a wardrobe for the hallway, order two sections for outerwear - one of them will contain things that you wear constantly, and the other will be used as storage for clothes for other seasons. Naturally, the sections do not have to be equal in volume, but on the contrary, it all depends on the number of things in your wardrobe.
If you need a wardrobe for your bedroom, you will need shelves for storing linen and other clothes. By the way, for better ventilation bed linen manufacturers of sliding wardrobes suggest installing not shelves, but baskets made of thin metal mesh... Baskets have two advantages at once: you can immediately see the entire stack of laundry and you can easily take what you need by stirring the entire stack. Secondly, the laundry is constantly ventilated and will always be fresh.

A few words about the shelves

Convenient when there are many shelves in the closet. However, do not make the shelves too close to each other. Optimal distance between the shelves 30 cm - so it will be convenient for you to fold and take out clothes. If the wardrobe is designed for books, 23-25cm between the shelves is quite enough. But books of a large, non-standard format are often found, so provide for them an upper or lower shelf, the distance to which will be at least 30 cm.
If the wardrobe is large, up to the ceiling, its upper shelves will be used as mezzanines for storing things that are rarely used. Such shelves often carry a very heavy weight, and in order for them to withstand such a load, they are usually not made long. Make sure that the shelves in your closet do not exceed 1 meter in length. In other words, in huge built-in wardrobes, the top shelf should be supported every meter.
And one more thing: every large closet should have. Neat lamps embedded in the top wall of the closet will make it much easier to find the things you need in the closet.

Sliding wardrobe doors

When ordering a wardrobe, you need to decide in advance what material the doors will be of. They can be made of laminated chipboard, then the wardrobe will be just an elegant addition to the interior. Or you can order glass or mirrored doors. Of course, they are more fragile (by the way, and the most expensive), but very beautiful. So, transparent glass doors most often installed in home libraries to be able to see the books on the shelves. Mirrored doors, especially if they are installed in built-in wardrobes, visually increase the size of the room. The plastic facade of the wardrobe is good for rooms made in modern style... The colors and textures of the plastic are so diverse that you will probably find exactly what you want.

When ordering a wardrobe ...

So, we have found out the main features of wardrobes, now you need to find a company that will make your wardrobe ...
Arriving at the office of the manufacturer of sliding wardrobes, first of all, ask what the edge of the chipboard parts is in their products. If you are told that they cover the details of their cabinets with a consignment note or a cut-in edge, alas, this option is not for you. Applied and cut-in edges are a sign of handicraft. They peel off quickly and greatly shorten the life of the cabinet. A reputable company will produce PVC edgebands with a thickness of 0.4 mm to 3 mm. Sliding wardrobes with PVC edge much more expensive, but they will serve you faithfully for many years.
Next, find out how thick the chipboard will be on the door and cabinet walls. For good doors chipboard with a thickness of 8-10 mm is required. But in Russia this is not produced, so in "left" firms they take domestic chipboard 16 mm thick and grind grooves into which rollers are attached, adapted for a thin 8 mm plate. Thus, the door is twice as heavy as needed. Because of excess weight door rollers will wear out catastrophically quickly.
Now the walls of the cabinet. If you expect to buy a wardrobe made of high-quality imported chipboard, then the thickness of its walls should be 18 mm. It makes sense to arm yourself with a caliper and measure the thickness of the chipboard. If "suddenly" it turned out that the walls of the cabinet are only 16 mm thick - you were deceived, instead of imported chipboard they installed domestic. Our chipboard is no worse than Western counterparts, the only difference is in price.

MirSovetov recommends that you do not save on the purchase of a wardrobe. A cheap wardrobe will "take revenge" on you a hundredfold, getting on your nerves with a grinding noise when opening doors, jumping off the "rails" and a quick loss of appearance. Contact reputable companies, choose quality materials... And our advice will not allow anyone to deceive you!

A sliding door is a convenient and practical design that does not take up much space when opened. Such devices are installed not only on cabinets, but also in dressing rooms, bathrooms or storage rooms. The sliding door perfectly separates the space of the closet or dressing room in the hallway, living room or bedroom, since they organize quite comfortable and convenient access to things.

If you want to install and make compartment doors with your own hands, the first step is to prepare the opening where the door will be mounted. You should immediately pay attention to the fact that all the edges of the canvas must be strictly perpendicular and vertical. The accuracy of the geometric lines can be checked with a spirit level. And as soon as the opening has been prepared, you can start building the compartment door itself.

general information

When making calculations, it should be borne in mind that the canvases in the dressing room or wardrobe must be installed with an overlap and it is desirable that the allowance is at least 25-30 mm. Besides, Special attention must be given to the type of sliding structure. Today, you yourself can install a compartment door of the following types:

  • rail;
  • suspended.

Based on the names, it immediately becomes clear what the constructive difference between both types of devices is: in rail systems, the main load is created on the lower guide, in suspended ones - on the upper one. Each of the options has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, if you intend to mount a rather weighty door in a closet or dressing room, it is better to give preference to a rail structure. Otherwise, the upper rail, which will be subjected to the main load, will very soon begin to "smile", bending under the weight door leaf.

Algorithm of actions

Before getting down to work, you need to familiarize yourself with the rules for calculating the dimensions of sliding structures, the necessary fasteners, as well as building materials that will be required to assemble a sliding sliding door. The whole process of manufacturing the device can be conditionally divided into the following stages:

  • calculation of the size of the door leaf;
  • production of the frame of the structure;
  • installation of frames in the opening;
  • installation of filling the canvas (mirror, glass, decorative elements);
  • installation of the prepared canvas with fittings in a closet or dressing room.

The most important and crucial stage of the work is precisely the calculation. It is not so easy to make it yourself, since it will not be enough for this to take ordinary measurements of the opening. Such a scheme would be suitable only in the case of installing swing doors, and then with some nuances.

How to make a calculation?

In order not to get confused in this tricky business, we will highlight several stages of calculations:

  1. Measuring the width of the web;
  2. Measurement of the height of the canvas;
  3. Quantity calculation necessary materials.

Width definition:

The drawing clearly demonstrates that the compartment door should be installed overlapping with other canvases. As a rule, at least two doors are mounted in a dressing room or closet, and in some cases more. To correctly measure the width, you should use the formula:

(Н1 + Н2 * К) / Р, where

  • H1 is the width of the doorway;
  • Н2 - profile width;
  • K is the number of overlaps between adjacent canvases;
  • P is the number of canvases.

Determination of height:

Let us assume that the height of the room is 241 cm, and the width of the linings in the upper and lower parts of the structure under the guide profiles is 1.7 cm each. In this case, the gap between the sliding door and the guide is 1.5 cm. Similar parameters will be in the lower part of the structure. Then the calculation of the height will look like this:

241-1.7-1.7-1.5-1.5 = 234.6 cm.

The number of required building materials:

The height of the entire structure is determined by the length of the handle profile. At the same time, framing profiles for the bottom and top edges are sold by the meter only. In accordance with the obtained values of the width and height of the wardrobe, you need to purchase two sections for installing the upper and two for installing the lower profiles.

Elements for door assembly

It is not so difficult to make a sliding structure for a dressing room or wardrobe yourself, but here it is very important not only to observe correct calculations, but also to purchase only high-quality and reliable fittings. And before you buy all the necessary elements, it is worth considering the following features:

  • The weight of the canvas. Rollers designed for sliding doors are capable of supporting up to 80 kg of weight. It is worth paying attention to when selecting material for creating a door leaf;
  • Shade profiles. Since the profiles located at the top and bottom of the structure will be partially visible, select parts that match the color of the dressing room or wardrobe.

So, as shown in the drawing, to make the doors of the wardrobe compartment with your own hands, you will need the following elements:

  1. Horizontal (top, bottom) and vertical profiles;
  2. Intermediate profiles;
  3. Top and bottom guides;
  4. Upper and lower roller systems;
  5. Recoil brakes;
  6. Silicate sealant (for installing glass and mirrors);
  7. Schlegel (damper material that ensures silent sliding of the rollers).

Looking at the drawing, you can understand in what sequence to install all the necessary elements of the compartment door. But if this is your first time faced with a similar task, consider the steps in more detail:

  • Editing of the upper and lower tracks. Along the front extreme line at the top and bottom of the opening, horizontal guides must be installed;
  • Installation of "stops". Before mounting the lower bar, it is necessary to install stops that will prevent the door leaf from flying out of the entire structure;
  • Installation of the canvas in the opening. The rollers located at the top of the blade are inserted into the guide rail first. After that, slightly pressing the lower rollers, they are inserted into the lower track;

Adjustment after installation:

  • If the door installed in the opening is loose, it is necessary to tighten the adjusting bolts. This will ensure that the rollers are more tightly pressed against the tracks;
  • Then it is necessary to correctly set the brake elements. Using a screwdriver, move the stopper inside the track so that the door, being in the closed position, does not roll over;
  • After installing the blade with your own hands, open and close the door several times to check the smooth movement of the blade inside the guides.

How to make a compartment door in the video can be seen in the video presented. In this video, the masters will tell you about important nuances installation of sliding systems, as well as clearly demonstrate the installation technology itself.

Conclusion

It is not so difficult to make a sliding door to a dressing room or wardrobe on your own. But in order for the structure to be durable and reliable, it is necessary to strictly follow all stages of work, as well as to make an accurate calculation of the dimensions of the door leaf and guides. Using the drawings and photos presented in the article, you will be able to easily complete the work without involving a master.

Chipboard (chipboard)

Everyone knows that furniture is made from wood, or from its processing. It can be an array, or chipboard, MDF, etc.

The most common material that is optimal in terms of price and quality is chipboard, the basis of which is sawmilling and woodworking waste. In the manufacture of these boards, formaldehyde resins are used as a binder for pressing.

For the first time, chipboard began to be used since the thirties of the last century in countries with poor forest resources, and therefore new technologies were developed for the manufacture of materials for furniture.

Today, the overwhelming majority of materials used in the manufacture of furniture are particle boards (chipboard)

Fiberboard (Fibreboard)

The manufacturing technology of fiberboard is slightly different from the well-known particleboard - this is a material that is also made by pressing wood fibers under a high temperature formed in the form of a carpet. To obtain these fibers, wood is ground and steamed.

The raw material for the manufacture of fiberboard panels is also sawmilling and woodworking waste. The composition of fiberboard also includes hardening substances, resins, paraffin, ceresin, antiseptics, etc. Fiberboard was first used in the United States in the twenties of the last century. And this technology is still used by almost all countries of the world!

In, fiberboard with a thickness of 3.2 to 5 mm are used. Typically, this material is used as rear walls furniture product and as a bottom at drawers... All bent elements are also made of medium density fiberboard.

Facades with milling or frames are made from MDF in the furniture industry. This material is made from dried wood fibers, the manufacturing technology is also based on hot pressing and grinding after processing with synthetic binders. MDF is an abbreviation of three words from English Medium Density Fiberboard.

In the first MDFs began to be used in the sixties of the last century, also in the USA. In our country, the first MDF products have appeared since the beginning of 2000. But domestic manufacturers MDF is unable to supply furniture factories... Therefore, factories buy this material abroad.

Compared to particleboard and fiberboard, MDF is a more environmentally friendly and progressive material today. The cost of MDF is an order of magnitude higher than the cost of chipboard. Unlike chipboard, MDF in production conditions bends, milled, makes it possible to create bent, semicircular facades. This material allows you to mill a variety of designs on facades.

Veneer.

The German word Span (shpahn) - shavings - in Russian terminology is called veneer and means thin sheet material, made from wood by peeling or planing and used as surface cladding or for the manufacture of plywood, chipboard or MDF.

Furniture made of veneered plates practically does not differ from solid wood products. Since the cladding of the panels is a thin cut of wood. Veneer furniture is much more expensive than laminated products. Do not forget that this is organic. like an array and requires careful handling.

Finishing materials and coatings.

In this article, we will talk about what you can make a cabinet door from. Making a wardrobe at home is a great way to save money and get a piece of furniture that fits perfectly into your décor. Even a novice master can cope with the assembly of a classic locker or wardrobe.

Making doors is one of the most important milestones works, because this part of the structure should have a pleasant appearance and functionality. You can make doors from various materials, the choice is limited only by the financial capabilities of the customer and creative imagination master.

Materials for the manufacture of swing doors

Swing doors are considered the classic, the easiest option to manufacture. Such doors are used in ordinary cabinets and bedside tables, as well as in some built-in wardrobes. The main advantage of such doors is that they are functional and durable; they, unlike sliding counterparts, do not contain elements that can quickly wear out in their design.

In most cases, hinged doors are attached to the cabinet body using piano hinges. To assemble such a door, it is enough to cut out a rectangle of the required size from the material, and then sand its ends. After that, it remains only to install the hinges and handles. Swing doors are made of solid wood, chipboard, MDF, plywood and other materials.

Natural wood

Wooden crafts are environmentally friendly, they do not emit harmful substances into the environment. Natural resins are released from wood into the air and essential oils which have a pleasant aroma and have a positive effect on human body.

Furniture made of wood is characterized by durability, resistance to mechanical stress and a long service life. The main advantage of wood is its pleasant and high-status appearance. The wood is easy to process, easy to milling. For the manufacture of cabinet furniture, pine, spruce, fir, larch, birch, aspen, oak, acacia, linden, cedar, walnut, chestnut, poplar, mountain ash, maple, beech, ash, apple, etc. are most often used.

The main disadvantage of natural wood is its high cost. Therefore, wood is now inferior in popularity to other, more affordable materials. Another disadvantage of the tree is its rather heavy weight. For this reason, wooden doors are not installed on lightweight structures (for example, thin chipboard cabinets).

Chipboard, MDF

Chipboard (chipboard) is the most demanded material in furniture production, as it has the best combination of price and quality. Chipboard products are practical, resistant to moisture and have a pleasant appearance.

This material imitates natural wood, giving the interior originality and sophistication. Big choice shades makes chipboard versatile material... For chipboard manufacturing woodworking and sawmilling wastes are used, formaldehyde resins are used as a binding material for wood waste pressing. The presence of formaldehyde in the composition of the boards is perhaps the only significant drawback of chipboard.

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is used in the furniture industry for frames and milled facades. This material made from dried wood fibers. The production technology is based on hot pressing followed by grinding with synthetic binders.

MDF differs from chipboard in greater environmental friendliness, as well as higher plasticity (the material bends perfectly, which allows you to make semicircular and bent structures from it). MDF lends itself to milling, so all kinds of patterns can be applied to the facades of this material. The main disadvantage of MDF is its rather high cost.

Veneer, plywood

Doors for a veneer cabinet in their appearance practically do not differ from wood, since veneer is a thin sheet material that is made from natural wood by planing or peeling. This material is used as cladding for chipboard or MDF panels. The main disadvantage of veneer, which is organic material, - the need for careful handling.

Plywood is one of the most demanded and widely used materials in the furniture industry. Plywood is durable, it does not rot or warp, it is resistant to moisture, high temperature, sun rays. It is resistant to chemicals detergents, various types of pollution. Plywood furniture is practical and easy to move due to its low weight.

Plywood owes its excellent characteristics to a special manufacturing method: plywood sheet consists of glued together thin layers wood (veneers). The number of sheets is always odd, which allows you to maintain symmetry about the central sheet. This symmetry ensures the strength of the product, its resistance to stress and a long service life. In each ply of a plywood sheet, the wood fibers are directed perpendicularly to the adjacent ply, which increases the material's resistance to bending and twisting.

For the manufacture of furniture that is used outdoors (for example, for a cabinet installed in a country house or an unglazed balcony), you can use moisture resistant plywood... The layers of such material are connected to each other using moisture resistant glue.

Methods of decorative finishing of furniture boards

To improve the performance characteristics of the above materials, special coatings can be applied to them. The most popular way of processing furniture boards is lamination. It is a lining of the material with special films made of paper and impregnated with melamine resins under high pressure and at high temperatures.

Laminate is resistant to impact chemical substances and scratches. In addition, it is aesthetically pleasing. Now on the market there are a large number of colors and shades of this material. Another way of processing furniture boards is lamination. It is the lining of the material with a paper-resin or polymer film, followed by the application of varnish or paint. The film is applied to the board with glue.

The advantages of sliding doors, which are equipped with sliding wardrobes

V last years wardrobes have gained wide popularity, and this is not surprising, because they are distinguished by their spaciousness and ease of use. Such a piece of furniture can be purchased ready-made or assembled by yourself.

The most difficult part of assembling this design is installing a sliding door mechanism. The cabinet closing system, despite the complexity in assembly, has an important advantage over the swing door system - the sliding doors move to the side when opened and do not create problems for the movement of apartment residents. This advantage is appreciated by the residents of small apartments. But this design also has one significant drawback - the cabinet cannot be fully opened, it opens only halfway.

The wardrobe closing system consists of two main parts: door leaves and a special rail system that can be purchased at a furniture hardware store. This system is a set metal profiles, roller mechanisms, gaskets, fasteners, plugs and jumpers. Such systems form door frames and mechanisms for their movement.

Materials for assembling the doors of the wardrobe

Internal filling of the structure frame (canvas) can be made of various materials, for example, chipboard, MDF, glass, plastic or other materials. Let's consider the most popular options in more detail:

  1. Mirror. Cabinet doors with a mirror finish make the interior more sophisticated, add brightness and light to the room. Besides, mirror surface visually enlarges the space. Many potential owners are afraid to equip their furniture with mirrored panels due to fears that the mirror could break and injure people. However, doors made according to modern technologies, covered with a special film that ensures the absolute safety of the product. Furniture mirrors can be of many designs, for example, they are tinted, anti-reflective, with patterns or designs, as well as with built-in lighting that provides additional lighting for dark rooms. Another significant advantage of mirrors is affordable price(mirrors cost significantly less than natural materials e.g. solid wood).
  2. Glass. This material is environmentally friendly and easy to care for, it never goes out of fashion and does not age. Glass for sliding wardrobes is pasted over with a special film that does not allow the broken material to fall apart into small fragments. Therefore, glass panels for sliding wardrobes are characterized by safety in use. Glass can be matte, colored, with patterns and drawings, embossed. Also popular strained glass- triplex, but it has a high cost. Glass can be used alone or in combination with chipboard, mirror.
  3. Plastic. Often for registration sliding doors highly eco-friendly acrylic plastic is used. This material is also sometimes called acrylic glass, however, unlike glass, it is characterized by high strength and resistance to mechanical damage (does not break). Plastic is marketed in a wide range of colors, therefore plastic panels can be matched to any, even the most unusual interior... Acrylic plastic looks great in any room and can be easily combined with other materials.
  4. Rattan. If the master wants to decorate the interior in an exotic style, then he can put rattan panels in the cabinet. Doors made of this material are beautiful and practical. Rattan is natural material, characterized by a strong structure, abrasion resistance, as well as resistance to moisture and temperature extremes. Rattan furniture makes the interior lighter, creates a feeling of closeness to nature. In addition, it is easy to clean - it is enough to remove dust from it with a damp sponge. The only significant drawback of rattan is that it does not tolerate dry air poorly. Cracks may appear on the doors of a cabinet in a room with low humidity. Another important disadvantage of rattan is its high cost.

Despite the presence of many beautiful, practical materials, in the production of sliding wardrobes, chipboard panels are most often used. They are distinguished by their durability, ease of care, versatility, and affordable cost.

Simple solution - installation of roller shutters

If a craftsman wants to install a reliable, easy-to-use closing system on the cabinet, but is not concerned with the appearance of the structure, then he can install roller shutters. Roller shutters do not occupy useful area rooms when opening, in addition, they allow you to open the wardrobe completely (and not half, like sliding systems). If the master wishes to improve the appearance of the furniture roller shutters, then he can cover them as well. self-adhesive film with drawing.

It is very easy to use roller shutters, they can be opened and closed by hand without any auxiliary devices or additional efforts. It is impossible to make roller shutters on your own, but the master can order finished structure and install it yourself. The installation of such systems is carried out in three stages: first, the side guides are mounted, then a roller shutter is attached to the upper part of the structure, and then the product is adjusted. In addition, some companies supplying roller shutters include their installation in the cost of structures.

Functional and beautiful furniture- the guarantee of comfort and coziness in every home, therefore, the choice of such interior items must be approached carefully. But what to do if the store did not find a cabinet suitable for the design or size? Then the assembly of the wardrobe can be carried out independently. But for this, you should learn how to make doors for a wardrobe with your own hands, and then install them.

A sliding wardrobe is a system, the acquisition of which will make it possible to successfully plan the space of a room, emphasize the features of the interior, and solve the issue of storing personal belongings. As soon as such furniture appeared on the domestic furniture market, buyers immediately fell in love with it for great amount merits.

Many people hesitate to assemble the closet on their own, but in fact it is not so difficult if you prepare and divide the work into stages. One should start by purchasing the necessary materials, the volume of which depends on the chosen size of the structure. Therefore, the first thing to decide is what material to use and what size the structure will be.

The following materials are used to create compartment furniture:

  • Chipboard - belongs to the category of common and affordable materials for the manufacture of doors for a wardrobe. Chipboard is varied in color scheme, practical, easy to cut. If you decide to assemble a wardrobe with your own hands without experience in such matters, opt for chipboard;
  • MDF is a more expensive material than chipboard, but it differs in higher performance characteristics... MDF is afraid of moisture, under the influence of which the film can lag from the base, which will significantly worsen the appearance of the furniture. But in general, the wardrobe with 2 doors from MDF looks very dignified;
  • solid wood is a durable, incredibly beautiful, wear-resistant option. But it is not cheap, and to work with natural wood can only be an experienced master of furniture. If you are a beginner, it is better to choose a material that is easier to work with - chipboard or MDF.

The dimensions of a particular cabinet are selected for the room in which it is planned to be installed. Take a look around and measure to find out which length, width and height of furniture will be most successful. The height of such furniture may vary.

Models of non-standard sizes are made to order or independently. Experts insist that in small rooms the closet must be made as high as possible. This will allow you to fit into it maximum number of things.

Its individual parts are connected into a single frame using special fasteners. To increase the maximum permissible load on the cabinet, the joints of the base and the top cover with the sidewalls of the structure are reinforced with special metal corners. The back of the furniture is closed with a thin sheet of chipboard, and supports are attached to the base.

You will also need holes for pins in the side walls of the furniture. This will be required for the subsequent installation of the shelves inside the product. If necessary, storage systems for a certain kind of things are mounted inside the structure: vertical bars with hangers, a trouser, and the like. If the assembly stage is completed, we proceed to the most difficult one. It is the installation of doors that will be the most responsible process in all work.

Installation of profiles and frames

If you have completed the assembly of the sliding wardrobe doors, you can proceed to the installation of the profiles and the frame of the structure along which they will move. sliding canvases... However, a prerequisite is the setting of the door leaf exactly at the level, otherwise, during the subsequent operation of the wardrobe, problems will arise, and the level of comfort for the user will be low.

Having measured the length of the cabinet from the inside, using a hacksaw for metal, cut a profile of the same size and fix it on the top and bottom covers using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.

In order to prevent damage to the profiles, during the organization of the holes, experts recommend using any convenient support. For example, you can use a table or chair for this purpose. And the holes made should be carefully sanded with sanding paper. The holes should be organized on the profile with a pitch of 50 mm, this rule should not be violated, so that there are no problems with the operation of the structure in the future.

To securely fix the lower profile, it is worth organizing similar holes for self-tapping screws, but you should not rush to fix the guide inside the structure. It is important to choose the right place for its attachment. It is shifted into the cabinet by 20 mm, since the depth of the furniture will decrease by the width of the compartment doors. Sometimes it happens that the doors are set too deep. This spoils the appearance of the furniture, reduces its aesthetic qualities and comfort.

You will also need to mount the latches so that the doors stop in the closed position and a gap does not form with the sidewall. The stopper is installed in the groove of the lower rail. To mount the retainer in required place, the compartment doors are tightly closed, after which a wheel center mark is made on the lower rail. A stopper is inserted here, which can be easily moved with a flat screwdriver.

Fastening doors

Next, we will describe in detail how the door of the wardrobe compartment is installed with our own hands. Order phased assembly doors and correctly selected tools are largely determined by the type of door being made and the specifics of its fastening to the furniture body. It can be one of two models:

  • suspended;
  • rail.

Suspended

Roller

Suspended

If you made the decision to make hinged doors, then the experts recommend starting the installation of doors on a sliding wardrobe with your own hands by studying the specifics of working with such systems. The 2-door wardrobe with hanging canvases has a special compartment mechanism, which is not mounted inside the structure, but is superimposed on the facade. It consists of two guides, but the highest load falls on the top rail. Hanging mount sliding systems allows you to disguise the ends, roofs of side facades from the eyes behind the doors. As a result, the structure after installing the cabinet doors looks incredibly laconic, elegant, beautiful.

Hanging door fixing

Rail

The description of the installation of rail structures with your own hands differs from the description of the stages for suspended ones. The peculiarity lies in the fact that the rails are mounted inside the cabinet frame. At the same time, the lower one should be hung a little with an offset inside the cabinet, since it will have the highest load.

You need to hang rollers on the canvas, with the help of which it will move in the rail. Next, the canvas must be very carefully inserted one by one into the pre-installed guides. To do this, start upper part the doors in the guides, after which we put the lower part of it.

To check the doors for perfect vertical alignment, use a spirit level. If you carry out the work carefully, the need for adjustment at a later time will disappear.

Experts insist that rail doors on the cabinet should not be placed at a corner, as this can provoke deformation of the profile. Whichever design is chosen, do not forget that limiters will definitely be required. Such a detail must be attached to the cabinet door.
