How to glue glass to wood: types of compositions. Features of the work

Many are interested in the question: how to glue glass to wood, because these two materials have completely different structures?
In addition, it is important to obtain as a result robust construction and beautiful aesthetic appearance. There are many ways to glue glass to wood. For this purpose, it is recommended to use special glue, as well as double-sided tape... Consider the advantages and disadvantages of the gluing methods below.

Methods:

Liquid Nails.

The advantage of this glue is that additional surface preparation is not required during the gluing process. The adhesive provides good strength and moisture resistance. To glue glass to wood, you need to buy special liquid nails designed specifically for these purposes. Among the disadvantages, it can be noted that seams may be visible during gluing, therefore, such glue is better used when fixing opaque glass.

PVA glue.

Advantages: availability, low price. But the glue must be good quality used in carpentry. Disadvantages: afraid of moisture, so you cannot use the structures glued in this way on the street.

Thermoactive adhesive.

3.1.Thermoactivated 3M TS230 - the most durable. It is used in the furniture industry. It is also used when gluing glass to plastic.
3.2. ™ (DP100, 100+, DP105, DP190, 2216) - the most durable over 7 MPa, the glue is based on epoxy resin, has an elastic and flexible consistency. The choice of glue depends on the requirements for the final result, so when purchasing glue it is better to consult a specialist in the store.
This type of DP105 glue is very durable, colorless, it is also used for sealing, application to the surface is carried out using the EPX ™ system, which contributes to an economical and accurate application to the surface, the glue components are mixed in the right proportions in a nose specially designed for these purposes, the person does not come into contact with the glue at all, there are no bubbles.

Double-sided tape 3M.

With this method of gluing, the glass should be opaque. It is used, for example, if a mirror needs to be glued to the cabinet door. In this case, we glue the tape on the surface and press it against each other.
It is important to know not only how you can glue glass to wood, but also know how to do it. We offer instructions in what sequence and how to act.

Instructions for gluing glass and wood:

1.With the help of a degreaser or clean the surfaces of glass and wood;
2. Apply one layer of glue;
3. Fix the surfaces and glue them;

When conducting various works developers may have a situation where a variety of materials must be attached to a wooden surface. In this review, we will look at how to glue glass and wood and how to carry out this type of work correctly.

Due to the peculiarities of these materials, it is very important to know the correct technology for carrying out the work, so that the result is reliable, any errors negatively affect the strength of the connection.

Types of compositions that are used during work

Immediately, we note that there are many possible options, but most of them are intended for professional use and it is difficult to find them on the free market. We will consider only those types that can be bought in building stores no problem:

PVA glue The main advantages of this solution are - affordable price and simple instructions for use. But let's make a reservation right away - it comes about quality wood gluerather than clerical options that aren't as reliable. It can be used to attach small and medium-sized elements, provided high quality connections
Liquid Nails This is a universal group of compounds, many of which make it possible to qualitatively combine glass with wood. They are very popular among those who carry out work with their own hands, since by purchasing liquid nails, you can use them in the most different situations and for a wide variety of materials
Two-component acrylic composition This is a special glue for glass and wood, which has very high properties: it is resistant to heating up to 150 degrees, shockproof, capable of withstanding chemical influences without compromising strength. For heavy structures, and where reliability is very important, this option will be the best solution
Double-sided tape An excellent solution for those who need to glue, for example, a mirror to a cabinet door or a wooden surface. You just need to glue a few strips on the back and carefully press the element

Important!
When buying any of the above options, the most important thing to pay attention to is the quality of the products, adherence to shelf life and the availability of documentation confirming the compliance of a particular composition with regulatory requirements.

Features of the work

If you chose one of the above options, then this does not mean at all that the result will be excellent, very great importance It has the right technology work and high-quality preparation of bases and elements.

Preparation

First of all, you need to prepare everything required and carry out whole line activities:

  • It is necessary to carry out all the necessary measurements and determine what size and configuration elements will need to be connected together. If repairs are being made, then this is not required, but if you are creating a new product, then you may need to cut something to a certain size, it is better to do this in advance so as not to be distracted once more.
  • If you need, for example, to glue a mirror on a cabinet door or decorative elements, then it is necessary to mark their location in advance, this is very important for the result to be not only reliable, but also attractive. Apply the labels in advance so that you already have an idea of \u200b\u200bwhat the final result should look like, and do not think about it in the process.

Glue is an irreplaceable substance in everyday life when you need to combine materials different kinds... To choose good glue for glass, you need to consider in detail its types and specifications... The composition must take into account the characteristics of the glass surface.

Glass is a material with reduced adhesion, which makes it difficult to bond. Also, glass is quite fragile, which also complicates the task. What properties should glue have to work with glass comfortably, and the result is reliable and durable? Basic material requirements:

  1. High adhesion is a prerequisite, since the glass is smooth and repels water, special adhesion strength is needed for gluing household itemsthat are exposed to loads.
  2. The glue should be transparent so that the seam remains invisible. For fastening small parts, this property is more important than strength.
  3. When working, the glue should dry quickly.
  4. Quality material has a thick consistency.
  5. The seam must be elastic.
  6. Important characteristics - heat and cold resistance, it is highly desirable that the glue can withstand high and low temperatures, as well as their drops.
  7. Waterproof if the surface or object is outdoors or in humid room.
  8. Safety for environment, absence of toxic substances and odor after curing, and ideally - during work.

Transparent glass adhesive is the best option for working with colorless materials different types... This property is important for the neat connection of small and decorative parts. When choosing an adhesive, you need to pay attention to the properties of the bonded surfaces.

So, for smooth ones, ordinary compositions are suitable, for corrugated ones - reinforced ones. If you need to glue special glass, for example, for an aquarium, then buy a sealant without antibacterial additives, that is, safe for water and its inhabitants.

The strength of the adhesive is especially important when working with window panes or painted surfaces.

Glass glue is divided into several types, designed for different cases:

  • Polymeric. Dries up under the influence of ultraviolet rays. When choosing such an adhesive, one must take into account the color of the glass: at least one of them must be transparent for light to enter. The surfaces to be glued are placed under a special lamp until the joint is completely hardened. Advantages of polymerizing compounds: the glue line is transparent, withstands temperature extremes, humidity, mechanical stress. Showcases, stained-glass windows, jewelry are glued together with this composition. This is one of the most durable adhesives, but it takes a long time to dry.
  • Silicate glue is made on the basis of silicone and sealant. Its scope is construction. The peculiarity of the glue is the assortment of colors, which makes the seam invisible or decorative. Therefore, silicate glue is very attractive for needlework. The thicker the layer, the higher the bond strength.
  • Cyanoacrylate, or cold welding... The advantage of this type is high adhesion and fast drying. The result is long lasting and durable. Cyanoacrylate adhesives are used on painted surfaces, they can combine glass with other types of materials: wood, plastic. Minus - the composition does not withstand contact with water.
  • Household: the familiar PVA, BF-2 and BF-4 adhesives, as well as Moment glue. PVA is used for fastening small parts. The reliability of such a connection depends on the crushing force of the materials. BF series adhesives operate at high temperatures, which makes them difficult to use for glass that may not withstand such a load. If "Moment" is taken, then the surfaces are first lubricated and left for 20-30 minutes, and only then they are connected - so the strength will be higher. Super Moment is the best option for instant bonding when there is no time to wait for drying.
  • Heat-resistant glass glue is used for items that will subsequently be regularly exposed to high temperatures. These are electric kettles, ovens, cookers etc. The glue seam does not change under the influence of heat due to the addition of special amplifiers to the composition.

How to apply

When working with glass glue at home, you need to follow a few rules. First of all, act carefully, as on transparent material stains may remain. Cured glue drops are very difficult to remove from the face. Glass is a fragile material, so there is no need to expose it to unnecessary stress.

How to properly glue the glass:

  1. First of all, you need to prepare the surface. The result of gluing depends on its purity. Before starting work, the glass must be degreased: wipe with a solvent, rinse with soapy water and wipe dry. Sometimes the surfaces are polished (to smooth joints).
  2. How to glue the parts: both parts are covered with a layer of glue, cured if necessary, and then pressed tightly against each other for a while. Sometimes it is enough to lubricate only one part, usually of a smaller size.
  3. For complete polymerization, you need to leave the item in a dark place for a day. If UV glue is used, the connected product is placed under a special lamp.
  4. If excess glue has emerged, you can cut it off with a sharp construction knife or a blade.
  5. Before use, the glued product should be wiped with a damp sponge and dried. If the package does not indicate that the composition has moisture-repellent properties, then it is better not to wash the glued object with water.

Advice! The adhesive is applied gently and thin layer... Excess will be difficult to remove.

Exact time the drying time is different for different bonding materials. The manufacturer indicates on the label the procedure for working with the glue, the speed of its setting and complete solidification. Working with glue depends on the type of packaging. If the tube is not equipped with a convenient attachment, it is recommended to use a brush. To glue small decorative elements, they can be held with tweezers and immersed in a drop of glue.

The variety of adhesive products allows you to choose an option that will fully meet your purpose. With the right composition, work with large glass elements and with small details like beads will be made equally reliably.

In the process of repair or installation works sometimes it is necessary to fix glass to surfaces made of other materials. The symbiosis "glass-wood" is very common, and for it to arise, installers have to go to different tricks. There are several methods for fixing dissimilar materials, and often special mixtures are used for this, developed taking into account the characteristics of both surfaces.

It would seem that what is easier: I took a screwdriver and the required number of self-tapping screws, and screwed the glass module where necessary.

But no, glass does not accept this method of work, because it is a very fragile material that cannot withstand such mechanical stress, from which it can crack and even literally "fall apart" into pieces.

If fixation of the glass sheet to the tree is required, then to solve such issues it is better to involve the specialists of the TM Titan company, in whose arsenal there are several effective methods at once, which are used depending on specific circumstances.

The simplest designmade of glass and wood are wooden windows, which are still found, since the installation of plastic window systems not always possible.

A striking example of this is the historical center of St. Petersburg, where the buildings do not have a single plastic window - everything is only with wooden frames.

In such cases, fixing the glass to the tree is very simple - using glazing beads nailed along the perimeter to the frame and thus holding the glass sheet inside it. IN window structures PVC glass is fixed in a slightly different way, due to grooves and rubber seals.

  1. 1. Special solution.
  2. 2. Adhesives.
  3. 3. Double-sided tape.
  4. 4. Fittings.

The last point is of greatest interest, since the use of special fittings for fixing dissimilar materials is simple and reliable.

For example, an aluminum profile is often used for these purposes, which is first attached to a tree, and only then glass is fixed to the profile, for which holes are pre-made on its surface for fasteners.

Sometimes the profile already has special grooves into which the glass module is inserted.

Fittings

How to fix glass to wood? Of course, not only with glue, and this method is not always suitable. For this reason, the use of auxiliary elements, the assortment of which consists of several dozen, and maybe even hundreds of items, in some cases is the only one possible option.

Since almost all types of such components are visible externally after installation, you should take care in advance that the accessories used fully correspond to the design of the room.

If a wholesale or retail buyer gives preference to the products of the TM Titan company, then he can be sure that he will find everything he needs in the manufacturer's online store.

Such products have a wide variety of configurations. The use of such accessories allows you to mount any glass structure, no matter how difficult the installation is.

If the customer requires some special model of the bracket or connector, the design bureau of the TM Titan company can design it.

This hardware is fixed with fasteners, for example, bolts, which must include a rubber or silicone gasket. Of course, you should worry in advance about the presence of holes on the glass surface.

The second group of products includes rods, hinges and other additional elements, thanks to which it is possible to attach the glass sheet at the required angle or at a given distance from the wall.

It is not for nothing that glass is considered one of the most important inventions of mankind, it is used in various industries, in everyday life, and how builders would do without this material is generally difficult to imagine.

But the operation of objects made of this material requires special care, the slightest carelessness - and its integrity can be violated. Therefore, the question of how to glue the glass is sometimes even more relevant.

It is not always possible to discard a broken glass object and replace it with a new one.

Correct selection glue and adherence to gluing technology will help extend the life of the aquarium or table, window glass.

To obtain a reliable and inconspicuous connection of glass to glass, or other materials, you can use the adhesives indicated in the table.

PVA Reliably glues not only paper but also glass surfaces. When applying the composition, bubbles should not be allowed. The surfaces to be joined must be kept under load for at least half an hour. As a result of polymerization, the glue becomes transparent.
BF4 and BF2 After application, the surfaces are dried, then pressed with maximum force. An ideal connection can be obtained as a result of exposure to a temperature of the order of 140 C, in practice this condition cannot always be met.
Moment, or rather Moment-Crystal After drying, it becomes more transparent. The surfaces with the applied glue are dried for 10-15 minutes, then they are connected by applying force. After a day, such a connection becomes stable and can withstand loads.
Cyanoacrylate based, Strength, Second Form connections quickly. The disadvantage is the destruction of the structure when exposed to high temperatures (above 80 C) and fracture loads.
Epoxy Provides a strong bond through polymerization. An inconvenience is the two-component glue, i.e. to receive the required amount the working substance will require the preparation of a fresh mixture while maintaining the exact dosage of the components. It hardens for a couple of hours, some types of epoxy require heating for complete hardening.

Glass Adhesive

It creates completely transparent elastic seamcapable of withstanding shear loads.

Room temperature is sufficient for the glue to harden. The setting process lasts about half an hour; it is allowed to subject the product to loads in a day.

Apply silicone glue to mirror surfaces it is impossible - it is able to dissolve the sprayed aluminum film.

Glass product repair

Sometimes homemade adhesives are used. A good quality glue is obtained by mixing ash and bone glue. You will need to apply it on a pre-heated glass surface.

You can glue two surfaces of the same quality using a mixture of 1 part casein glue and 10 parts of silicate.

To connect wood to glass, a mixture of wood glue and ash is used, its consistency must be thick.

When choosing a recipe for homemade glue, you should consider:

  • what area does the connection have
  • what loads will be applied to the seams

For example, to repair an aquarium or window cover you will need to prepare a stronger composition that has the properties of a sealant:

  • 60 g of drying oil is combined with 100 g of rosin
  • add chalk, about 50 g and beeswax - 10 g

The thoroughly mixed composition is heated to a boil, removed from the fire, allowed to cool to 50 C. Then add dibutyl phthalate and aluminum powder, mix thoroughly. The mixture is used freshly prepared.

The glass bonding technology is not complicated, but it is still recommended to adhere to it. The quality of the resulting seam largely depends on the quality of surface cleaning.

Remains of grease and other contaminants should be removed. You will need to thoroughly wipe it with a rag soaked in kerosene, gasoline, white spirit or alcohol, 646 solvent. Acetone is considered a universal degreaser.

Use household products, such as Mister Muscle is not recommended.

Since all effective means are prone to active evaporation, and their vapors are harmful to humans, it is recommended to work in a well-ventilated area.

The surfaces to be glued should be warmed up to 30 C, for this it is convenient to use a hair dryer.

Before starting work, you will need to collect all the parts to be glued on the table, check whether they fit well, to facilitate the work, you can use any available devices, magnets, stops, corner suction cups.

The surfaces treated with it are dried or joined immediately, fixed, subjected to loads and kept for the recommended time.

Bonding with UV glue

Among better means for joining glass with glass or metal, it is necessary to note the compositions that acquire special strength after treatment with an ultraviolet lamp. The joints obtained in this way have high strength properties.

An important condition: the dimensions of the lamp must allow uniform irradiation of the seam.

During work, safety measures should be observed:

  • it's better to put gloves on your hands,
  • eyes should be protected with glasses.

During processing with the lamp, the parts to be connected must not be displaced.

A more difficult task is the connection of plastic with glass.

Get reliable connection glass and plastic is not easy at all

Due to the very smooth surface and the absence of pores on it, weak chemical activity polymer material, a low level of adhesion, not every adhesive can provide a reliable connection of plastic.

Considering this point, in industry and construction, more reliable option - welding.

If there is a need for gluing plastic parts at home, it is imperative to take into account the type of plastic, its different types differ in properties and require an appropriate composition for gluing.

Adhesives for plastic products are divided into categories:

  • liquid
  • contact
  • reactionary
  • hot melt

Each type of glue for plastic has a special mark - an abbreviation indicating the type of material for which it is intended.

It is quite easy to glue wood to glass.

The simplest and cheapest options:

  • liquid nails - provide a reliable connection, do not require surface preparation, the seams are slightly noticeable, but they are not afraid of moisture.
  • PVA designed for joinery work. It connects the parts well, but the seams have low moisture resistance, it is not recommended for outdoor use.
  • 3M TS230, is thermally activated, correctly made connection has very high strength properties, suitable for gluing glass surfaces to wood, plastic, including polystyrene and acrylic polymers.
  • two-component Scotch-Weld glue possesses excellent qualities, DP 105 is especially highly valued in this line of adhesives, which is able to firmly bond different types of surfaces. Possesses sealing properties, absolutely transparent, even in the case of a thick layer. The basis for the manufacture of this super tool is epoxy resin.

You can glue wood and glass with glue or double-sided tape.

For those who do not particularly like to mess with glue, there is great option joining wood and glass using high-quality double-sided tape ZM.

Especially if the glass is opaque, for example, if you need to fix a mirror on a cabinet door.

Of course, subject to the choice of a suitable glue and strict adherence to the recommendations for organizing the process of joining materials.

When performing work, one must not forget about observing personal safety rules, including protection of the skin, eyes, and respiratory organs.

There are quite a few options for attaching glass to wood. However, most of them belong to the category of professional ones, and it is not easy to find adhesive compositions on the free sale. Consider the options that you can easily find in building materials stores. So, what glue is used to glue glass to wood?

PVA glue

The main advantages of PVA are affordable price and extreme ease of use. However, keep in mind: we are not talking about clerical, but about carpentry glue.

Important! PVA glue ensures reliable connection of small and medium-sized elements.

Liquid Nails

This is a whole group of adhesives for the most different materials, including for wood with glass.

Important! This option is good because it is possible to apply the mixture both on the whole surface and pointwise. The setting speed is usually quite high.

This is a special compound that is particularly durable and resistant to high temperatures... It can withstand heating up to 15 degrees, is resistant to chemically aggressive environments, to mechanical damage.

Important! If reliability is most important to you, then this option is out of competition.

Double sided tape

This is a great solution for gluing glass to wood at home, for example, for attaching small mirrors to wood surfaces. Glue a few strips of duct tape on the back and press to the base. Done!

Important! Whichever method you choose, when buying glue, you need to pay attention to the quality of the product, the manufacturing company, shelf life and the availability of a product safety certificate.

Specificity of work

Procedure

  1. Degrease the glass surface with acetone or other organic solvent.
  2. Apply glue to the surfaces to be joined. Dry for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Apply another layer, let stand for a couple of minutes and connect the parts.
  4. Secure with clamps, rubber bands, or put under a press (not too heavy so as not to crush the glass).
  5. Soak for about an hour. If possible, leave it for a day (during this time the glue will completely harden).

How often do we try to fix broken things? You can always find help required material in hardware stores. During repairs or construction, incidents often happen, and you need to glue two objects together. For example:

  • Cracked or shattered glass top on wooden base... An urgent need to change so as not to injure yourself and your household.
  • The child painted a picture. Need to do wooden frame with glass to decorate the nursery wall.
  • Mirror or glass falls off in the cabinet. The element must be glued securely.

For this, you can use all kinds of mixtures and glue. But how do you glue glass to wood? Let's consider several options.

How to glue?

Many materials can be used to bond two materials like glass and wood. Most of adhesive mixtures are professional, and they are used mainly in factories, construction sites, etc. different methods glues that are available to non-professionals. This will allow you to apply them at home. Adhesives that can be purchased at hardware stores. Simple options glue:

  • "Liquid Nails".
  • Two-component Scotch-Weld adhesive.
  • Double-sided tape ZM.
  • Thermoactive adhesive.

You can also contact the seller and get advice, or read the instructions on the packages of glue different brands.

"Liquid Nails"

This view glue is applicable in different areas activities. ZhG glue different materials together, surfaces with irregularities are especially well adhered. The specified tool has a large assortment range. You can easily find the right adhesive for any material to be glued. Glue "Liquid nails" is:

  1. Organosoluble. It adheres well and dries well. Withstands temperatures up to -40 degrees. It has a pungent odor and safety precautions must be followed when working with it.
  2. Water soluble. Applicable for connection porous surfaces... Dislikes exposure to water.

Any work with glue is best done on fresh air... In an apartment, it is worth working on a balcony, loggia or staircase.

Instructions for use Liquid nails»For gluing glass and wood:

  • First, clean both surfaces of dirt, dust and old coatings.
  • Degrease the surfaces with a special solution.
  • Apply glue to the surface with a pattern. It can be mesh, stripe, snake and dots. It all depends on the geometric dimensions of the glued items.
  • Connect glass and wood with slight pressure on each other and press down for the time indicated on the package. You can put a small load.
  • If necessary, remove excess glue.
  • Do not use the object to be glued and do not exert any influence on the surface until complete polymerization.

For working with liquid glue, you can use a special gun. How to use it is described in the instructions for use of "Liquid nails". If the product is in a small tube, no special gun is needed.

Scotch-Weld two-component adhesive

This tool also allows you to solve the problem. How to glue glass to wood? An excellent quality Scotch-Weld adhesive will do this well. Most high level in this line is DP 105. It can firmly glue the surfaces of glass and wood, which must be achieved when performing such work.

The glue is absolutely transparent, performs additional function sealant. It will be a good replacement for chemical etching, primer, etc. Two-component acrylic adhesive for glass and wood is an excellent choice for homework.

Characteristics of ZM Scotch-Weld:

  1. The glue is conveniently applied to the glued surfaces.
  2. Low viscosity.
  3. High adhesion.
  4. Transparent color even when applied in thick layers.

When working with glue, safety precautions must be observed. Before gluing, the glass can be treated with a glass cleaner and wiped dry, the wood can be cleaned of dirt and dust. Apply the glue evenly to the places where the materials will come into contact and, pressing slightly, connect the glass and wood.

This glue is the most popular among consumers. You can buy it at any hardware and hardware store. The price is reasonable, and the quality is quite decent. Positive properties of the glue:

  • PVA glue is non-flammable and non-flammable.
  • There are no chemicals in the composition.
  • Firmly endures large quantities freezing and defrosting.
  • Not afraid of mechanical stress.
  • The smell is not pungent, which makes it possible to work with it in closed rooms.

Consider a method of gluing wood with glass with PVA glue. To connect two surfaces, they must be prepared, that is, cleaned of dirt, dust and other unnecessary elements. Glass and wood can be pre-treated with alcohol or acetone. Using a brush, apply the glue evenly to both wood and glass. If necessary, apply a second layer, but only after the first has dried.

Some time is given for the glue to absorb and dry a little. Then the glass and wood must be pressed tightly together. On average, you need to wait a day for a lasting bond. It is advisable to put a small load at the joints.

Double-sided tape

This type of attachment has become very popular. It is applicable for gluing surfaces made of different materials. Double-sided tape has two main types:

  1. For horizontal fastening.
  2. For vertical mounting.

For those who do not really like working with glue, there is another way to glue wood and glass. This, of course, is a high-quality double-sided tape ZM. This method works well if the glass is opaque. For example, you can fix the mirror on the wardrobe door. Operating procedure:

Now you know one more way than to glue glass to wood.

Preparation for work

When you decide to make a purchase of a particular adhesive, pay attention to the quality of the product. Like any product, glue also has a shelf life. Make sure everything is in order with the dates, the storage rules are followed. Do not hesitate to ask about the documents that prove the quality of the glue. Glass, wood, plastic, metal - any material can be glued, you just need to do everything right.

Carrying out gluing work

When you have decided how to glue glass to wood and purchased glue in a store, you need to equip workplace... It is important to follow safety precautions and wear safety glasses and gloves. If you have to work with large objects, such as a cabinet door, a painting, etc., then you should remove them and put them on flat surface.

  • We clean the surface of the two materials. There should be no remnants of the old compound on it.
  • If the wooden surface is putty or varnished, then the base must be processed so that the gluing is successful.
  • Next, degrease the surface. The rag should be soaked in solvent and gently wipe the glass and wood in the places where the gluing will take place.
  • Glue is applied to the right place and the two surfaces are connected with slight pressure.
  • Depending on what kind of glue you are working with, the drying conditions can be found in the instructions that come with the product.

First, both surfaces must be cleaned. The glass can be sprayed with any glass cleaner and wiped dry. soft cloth lint-free. It should dry completely. Wooden surface just wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. It must also be dry.

Any silicone glue (sold in hardware stores) is suitable for gluing. The surfaces must be pressed firmly against each other, you can put some kind of weight on them, just carefully so that the glass does not burst.

The gluing times are usually indicated on the packaging and are best observed to achieve optimal results.

You can glue the glass and wood components of the product using the universal glue "Moment Crystal". This glue is transparent and excellent grips any surfaces. I bought it for needlework, as it is one of the few that are suitable for both textiles and knitted products. But somehow imperceptibly he became indispensable in the economy everywhere, really universal.

It depends on what you need to glue and how much you need inconspicuous result. At one time, I was carried away by souvenirs self made (even sold well) and often had to insensibly glue wood and glass.

It's better not to take the so-called super glue in any of its versions, since there will be traces on the glass in any case, silicone is also not always suitable, since with an extra drop, traces cannot be avoided.

The best solution in order to glue wood to glass is to take PVA (not clerical, but carpentry), there are no traces, the excess is easy to remove, it holds perfectly. You can buy special glue Two-component acrylic compound, it is necessary where strength is needed and is heavier in weight of the part, since it will glue them tightly, and there will be no traces.

To firmly glue glass and wooden things together, you can take silicone glue for this purpose, sold in almost any store. But first, wipe thoroughly and then dry dry what needs to be glued. Silicone glue adheres perfectly and is invisible. Or, in extreme cases, buy PVA joiner's glue, it also adheres glass and wood well together.

If you are faced with the task of assembling glass and wood, then I advise you to use just any silicone glue, it will just be invisible and will firmly grab the surfaces. Just be sure to wipe and dry the sides to be glued beforehand.

There are many ways to do this, and there are several types of adhesives that are suitable for this task.

    1.BF (Butyral (polyvinyl butyral)

    1. PVA-A
    2. Unique

For proper adhesion, degrease the surface to be glued with acetone.

Apply glue and clamp with improvised means.

It is advisable to leave for a day

For gluing wood to glass and not only these materials, but also ceramics, phosphorus, metal, plastic, we use the epoxy glue CONTACT. Very wonderful and high quality glue. I advise you to purchase. You can also use liquid nails based on rubber and polymer, they have good strength, but one drawback is noticeable seams. I also recommend * Scotch-Weld DP 105 * high strength glue - a two-component adhesive based on epoxy resin... This glue firmly glues surfaces of various structures, it is transparent and invisible when glued.

There is such a glue called PVA, and its full name is polyvinyl acetate glue.

So it is suitable for gluing any porous materials and with its help you can also glue wood to glass, or, for example, glue wood to a concrete stack.

You must first clean and degrease both surfaces for bonding. epoxy resin, and it can be glued forever.

In fact, PVA is considered a universal glue; it is even used for gluing ceramic tiles, glass and ceramics. There is also a glue called BF-2, with which it is possible to glue products made from materials such as porcelain, faience, glass, wood, metal and plastic.

And here's another super glue for this purpose.

    Glass on wooden leg.

Completely invisible adhesives not at all. If there was a photograph of the objects being glued, then something specific could be advised. Personally, I glued glass to wood with an ordinary silicone universal sealant.

It should be borne in mind that static, solid adhesive systems they adhere to glass and wood in different ways. Some kind of glue is better absorbed into wood, but does not absorb into glass at all - which is natural. Conversely, a glue that adheres well to glass does not adhere to wood at all.

In general, silicone is just that. There are transparent silicones, they hold well. Isn't it a decorative thing?

    Good day.

To glue wood and glass, PVA carpentry glue is suitable (for example, you can glue a glass glass to a wooden leg with glue Moment Joiner). In this case, it is very important to apply the adhesive evenly over the surface, and remove excess. Of course, don't forget about preliminary preparation surfaces to be glued (glue should be applied to dry surfaces).

It is better to buy wood glue in a hardware store.
