Easy chair making guide. Wooden chair - the rules of creation, design and stages of work

Frameless furniture on Russian markets appeared quite recently. But thanks to its many benefits, it quickly became popular. But the price for such a novelty is often too high.

In the meantime, make soft armchair with your own hands is not difficult at all. This kind of work will not take much of your time. And to sewing and decorating like original decoration your room can attract children.

Preparatory stages

Before you start doing, prepare detailed drawing... If you do not carefully calculate all the required dimensions, then you may get a completely different result than you expected.

The easiest way is to make a soft chair in the shape of a pear or an ordinary bag.

Figure 1. An example of a drawing of a simple chair.

But you can give it the shape of a pyramid or, for example, a cube. Often, ottomans are made for children's rooms in the form of a drop or a funny animal, for example, a dragon.

An example of a drawing of a chair of a fairly simple form is shown in Fig. 1. Naturally, you can change the dimensions given in it at your own will.

The next step is to choose the fabric. You will need two types of matter. For the inner cover, get a thick enough fabric with a tight weave. Otherwise, the filler balls may come out of the bag over time. For this purpose, satin, coarse calico, fabric intended for sewing naperniks are well suited.

But the outer cover can be sewn from any material. Denim, artificial leather, fur or velor furniture will look good in any interior. The color of the material depends only on your taste, preferences and the appearance of the room.

In order to, you need to buy a special filler. Usually frameless furniture stuffed with polystyrene foam. It can be purchased at stores that sell furniture repair products.

Be careful when purchasing this product remotely (for example, from a catalog or via the Internet). This filler is very light and bulky. To transport 10 kg of "balls" you will need a cargo gazelle, because in a regular a car it won't fit. When buying a filler, pay attention not to the weight, but to the volume of the package. To sew an upholstered chair, you need a bag with a volume of 200-250 liters.

If desired, expanded polystyrene can be replaced with foam crumbs. It can be obtained if crumbled, for example, decorative tiles used for ceiling decoration.

Some experts advise to stuff frameless furniture with hay or buckwheat husks. But using natural materials, remember that they should be changed approximately once every 5-6 months. Vegetable fillers absorb moisture well, which can lead to mold growth. In addition, such materials are quickly compressed, and the soft chair will lose its volume and elasticity.

Sewing a frameless option

In order to make an armchair of the dimensions indicated in the drawing, you will need the following materials:

  • fabric for the inner cover (with a width of 150 cm) - 3 m;
  • fabric for the outer cover (with a width of 150 cm) - 3 m;
  • zipper, 22 cm long;
  • sewing thread;
  • materials for decoration (edging, braid, ribbons, inlays).

Start by cutting all necessary parts... Don't forget to leave seam allowances! They should be 1.5-3 cm.

First, you need to prepare templates for all elements of the upholstered chair. They are usually made of paper or plastic film(if you want to make reusable patterns). When creating patterns, allowances do not need to be taken into account.

The finished piece is placed on the seamy side of the fabric and traced around the office with chalk or a piece of soap. The patterns leave a space equal to the allowances between the details. If you provide the same allowances for all parts, then the elements do not need to be marked separately. It is enough to fold the fabric in several layers and circle the pattern once.

Sewing should start with making the inner cover. "Petals" are sewn to the bottom in turn. Then the sidewalls of the long pieces are sewn together. One seam must be left with a packing hole. The top part is sewn last.

Next, a cover is made. It is done in the same way, only a zipper is inserted into one of the seams. To do this, the seam is sewn from below, to a length of 3-5 cm. Then a pass is made equal to the length of the zipper, and it is sewn to the end. The parts sewn in this way are turned inside out on front side, and the fastener allowances are folded and ironed. The zipper is placed under the workpiece from the wrong side and pinned to the seam allowances. First, a stitch is laid on one side, trying to position it as close to the teeth as possible (usually for this, special paws are used for sewing machines), then on the other. Finish the zipper with double seams at the beginning and end of the zipper.

Additional decor will make the chair a unique detail of your room. It can be decorated with embroidery, appliqués, decorative braid. This finish only depends on your personal taste.

It is true that the Internet is a treasure trove useful information... People here share valuable knowledge and original ideas, opening up more and more new perspectives for each other.

A person without experience and skills gets a unique opportunity to organize for himself furniture manufacturing at home. There are many detailed workshops with ready-made schemes, which will help you make any furniture, whether you have the necessary tools and a penchant for craft.

Of course, it's worth starting with simple projects, like the one presented in this master class. Known in narrow circles, craftswoman Anna White prepared for everyone detailed instructions, which talks about how to make a simple chair from boards for your home or terrace with your own hands.

In finished form, it is completed with stylish pillows. You can also make them yourself. In short, Anna will tell us about this.

In this project, you can use the simplest lumber that does not require processing for milling machine and the manufacture of complex groove joints.

Gather your materials and get everything you need to get started. You will need:

Materials:
1. pine board 50 mm thick:
- 4 pcs x 50 x 100 x 550 mm - details of the legs;
- 2 pcs x 50 x 100 x 810 mm - armrest parts;
- 6 pcs x 50 x 150 x 710 mm - sidewall trim parts;
- 2 pcs x 30 x 30 x 710 mm - slats for seat parts;
- 4 pcs x 50 x 150 x 620 mm - backrest parts and the lower part of the front panel;
- 2 pcs x 50 x 100 x 620 mm - upper backrest and upper front panel;
- 5 pcs x 50 x 100 x 620 mm - seat parts.
2. glue for woodwork;
3. furniture screws;
4. stain or protective and decorative oil for wood processing and toning;
5. Furniture varnish with a transparent coating or varnish-toner.

Instruments:

- a circular saw or a miter saw for sawing boards;
- grinder;
- electric drill;
- screwdriver;
- paint brushes;
- soft tissue lint-free for oil;
- construction tape and square;
- pencil.

Step one: detailing and marking of parts

Determining the final dimensions of the chair, the author proceeded from the dimensions of the seat and cushions for it. The seat is a flat square with sides of 620 mm. If you want to change the dimensions of the chair, all the dimensions indicated in the master class will have to be recalculated.

Otherwise, take advantage of these great detailed diagrams and write down on paper all the details you will need for the job. Please indicate the exact size of each part. You can find a list of them in the list of materials for this master class.

Before starting work, make sure that all your boards are planed to the same thickness, otherwise the finished chair will look like a typical sample. handicraft... Such processing of boards is carried out on a thickness gauge. As a last resort, you can order it in the workshop, but it is better to initially select properly processed lumber.

Mark out the parts of the chair using a pencil and a square. The square is an especially useful tool if you plan to saw the boards by hand using a hacksaw.

Step two: making parts from planks

You need 50mm thick boards, but different widths: 100 and 150 mm. In addition, prepare a rail not narrower than 30 mm for the manufacture of parts for the base for the seat.

Saw the board into pieces of the required length using miter saw or manual circular... Both of these tools allow you to make perfectly straight cuts, which is very important in furniture production.

If you are using hand hacksaw on wood, be prepared for the fact that the cuts will have to be adjusted by hand for neat tight connections.

Grind all details in any way convenient for you. For example, an electric sander. For sanding pine, a piece of bar with sandpaper attached to it will fit. True, such work will take much more time.

Step three: assembling the wooden chair

Attach the trim pieces to the legs with a gap of about 20 mm. Pre-drill holes in the places where the screws are screwed in so that the boards do not split.

If you want the chair to serve you for a long time, use glue. In this case, apply a little woodworking glue to the joint, press the parts together and tighten the screw or self-tapping screw.

On each of the side panels, fix the armrest and connect the side panels together with the upper back part. Please note that on the inside of the chair, all the trim parts are flush with the frame, and along the outer contour they are somewhat recessed inward.

Slide your work bar through the gap between the side trims, place the upper backrest piece in place and secure with screws. Screw on the remaining backrest elements.

On the front panel, fasten at the bottom wide board, and at the top - a narrow one by 100 mm. Sew up the seat and, to complete the assembly, secure the upper backrest piece by placing it flat.

Try to screw in the screws along the same vertical line to make the work look neat.

After some time, when the chairs have already been tested in everyday life, the author advises to fix the details of the seat in such a way that it itself is located slightly at an angle. So it will be much more comfortable to sit. The same can be said for the back of the chair.

Step four: woodworking

It is convenient in that it allows you to easily apply the composition and repeat this procedure at any time in order to refresh the product. In this case, all surface preparation for re-painting comes down to lightly grinding it by hand with sandpaper.

You can also use alcohol stain in combination with several coats of furniture varnish or, say, natural drying oil.

Apply the stain with a brush along the grain and try not to touch the already painted areas once again, otherwise the tone will be uneven.

A good alternative is also a decorative toner oil, which not only imitates precious woods, but also protects the wood from rot, mold and mildew, as well as moisture.

You can paint the armchair matt furniture varnish in order to extend its service life. Do not use varnishes on water based because they do not have a sufficient level of strength and are quickly erased.

Apply the varnish in several layers, sanding each previous layer as soon as it hardens. Use a fine-grained sandpaper, and do the grinding itself carefully, without much pressure. There is no need to sand the top coat of varnish.

Step five: the final touch

Such simple furniture like this wooden armchair needs beautiful textiles. The author used ready-made furniture pillows with floral ornaments.

However, pillows can be made with your own hands. To do this, you will need foam rubber (preferably furniture, increased strength), batting or thin foam rubber to give the pillows a shape and additional volume, as well as strong threads, a suitable fabric and a sewing machine.

Cut the thick foam into pieces of the size you want. In this case, squares with sides of 600 mm. Wrap them in one or two layers of thin foam or batting. Attach the fabric and determine on the spot how much you need to sew the covers.

You can also make the covers in advance according to the pattern and, based on their size and shape, prepare the filler.

If you plan to wash the covers and keep the pillows clean at all times, sew the covers out of plain thick fabric and make a detachable zippered set that you can always remove and machine wash.

Hanging chairs are an alternative to a rocking chair on the runners of the house and a hammock in nature. Comfort and light swaying will help you relax and unwind after a hard day. A variety of models and materials for manufacturing allows you to harmoniously integrate such an armchair into any interior. And it is not at all necessary to spend money on a purchase. Some models are easy to make with your own hands.

Types of hanging chairs

A wide variety of models and designs are produced. They can be made of wood, metal, rattan, vine, transparent plastic. There are models that you can make yourself without any problems.

  1. Swing chair. Fastening is carried out at two points. Due to this, the structure swings in one plane. There are soft models (hammock chair) or on a rigid frame:
    • the basis of the first option is a soft fabric or wicker fabric, which is easy to sew, weave using macrame technique or crochet - the ends of the panel are attached to the transverse bar with 4 slings, and it is already suspended from the ceiling or leg-post;
    • the second version has a rigid frame made of acrylic, plastic, wood, rattan or metal in the form of a hoop covered with a soft base.
  2. Nest chair. The base of the construction is made up of 2 sturdy hoops. The model has a flat bottom and low sides, which are braided with a cord, rope or tied with strong threads.
  3. The cocoon chair (egg) differs from its counterparts in its greater closeness, often up to 70%. Backrest and lateral surfaces high and connected overhead. Rigid frame braided suitable material or upholstered with fabric. Varieties of this model - basket chair and drop chair - perfect option for a children's room.

Finishing techniques and materials

Such chairs usually have a rigid frame and a seat made of various materials.

  1. Textile. An affordable and easy-to-use material, the density and strength of which is selected based on the expected load. A raincoat, tarpaulin will do. The armchair for children from old jeans with pockets and rivets looks original.
  2. Knitted fabric. Craftsmen who know the knitting or crocheting technique can use their skills to create an original chair from plain or multi-colored threads.
  3. Macrame. Weaving from a durable cord will not only last a long time, but will also add a special flavor to any interior.
  4. Vine, rattan. Armchairs made of eco-friendly materials, will decorate any interior, but special skills are required to work with them. In addition, rattan does not grow in our country.

It is interesting! Unusual and very durable material for braiding the chair - a thread from plastic bottles... Such a chair will not get wet, will not deform, it can be hung on the street.

Frame material

The base of the chair can be made from different materials.

  1. Gymnastic hoop. Suitable only for a child seat, for an adult, its strength is not enough, since the cross-sectional diameter is 16 mm, and for the frame of the chair you need 2 times more.
  2. Metal pipe. The product from it will turn out to be durable, but heavy - at least 7 kg. For its manufacture, you will need pipe bending equipment.
  3. Wood. The design will be durable, lightweight, environmentally friendly. Since the material absorbs moisture and dries up in the sun, for outdoor chairs, wood must be treated with impregnations. This will protect the material from decay.
  4. Reinforced-plastic pipes. Strong, lightweight and non-corrosive material. When using coiled pipes, there is no need to bend them. The ends of the segment are connected with a wooden or plastic insert and fixed with self-tapping screws.

You should not use dilapidated material in the manufacture of an armchair: such furniture will not last long.

Do-it-yourself hanging chair

A hand-made hanging chair will look good in the country or on the veranda of a private house. The simplest to manufacture is a hammock chair. It can be done in several ways from different materials, but the most convenient and uncomplicated of them are macrame or textiles.

Hammock without frame

For work you will need:

  • dense fabric - 1.5x1.5 m;
  • durable cord;
  • wooden bar for fastening;
  • sewing accessories.

After preparing everything you need, proceed to the assembly process.

Swing on a rigid frame

To make it you will need:

  • a hoop with a diameter of 90–95 cm;
  • durable fabric 3 m long and 1.5 m wide;
  • lightning - 90–95 cm;
  • strong cord or rope - 10 m;
  • metal rings for fastening the structure to the ceiling;
  • non-woven fabric;
  • scissors;
  • tape measure;
  • sewing accessories.

When all the materials are ready, proceed to the execution of the chair.

  1. Fold the fabric in half and spread it on a flat surface.
  2. Place the hoop in the center, at a distance of 20-25 cm from it, draw a marking along the circumference and connect the marks with a line. Cut out 2 circles.
  3. On one of the blanks, make a cut through the center with a length equal to the diameter of the hoop, sew a zipper in this place.
  4. Join both workpieces with a seam around the circumference.
  5. Make cutouts on the finished cover for attaching the ropes to a 10 cm long hoop. To do this, fold the cover in half and measure from the fold line to one side 45 ° C, to the other - 30 ° C, mark.
  6. Duplicate the marks on the second part of the circle. The distance between the cutouts in the front of the seat should be greater than in the back.
  7. Tape the slots.
  8. Wrap the hoop with a strip of padding polyester, connect with a seam to secure.
  9. Insert the hoop into the cover, close the zipper.
  10. Cut the cord into 4 pieces, 2.2 and 2.8 m long. Fold each piece in half and fasten it to the hoop. To do this, pass a loop through the hole in the cover, and push the ends of the cord through it and tighten them. Long cords should be in the front of the chair and short cords in the back.
  11. Tie a short and long cord on the right side to one ring, on the left to the other. Make strong knots.
  12. Hang the rings from a ceiling, beam, or thick tree branch outside.
  13. Place pillows inside or sew a round mattress. This will make the chair even more comfortable.

How to make a wicker nest chair: step by step photos

By making the seat flat and providing the structure with sides, you can get a nest chair. For such a rocking chair you will need:

  • two hoops made of a metal-plastic pipe with a cross section of 35 mm: for a seat with a diameter of 70 cm, for a backrest - 110 cm;
  • polyamide cord 4 mm thick - 900 m;
  • sling or strong rope - 12 m;
  • thicker cord for connecting the seat and backrest.

To make this chair, you need to be able to weave.

  1. First, braid both hoops:
    • wrap the pipe with a cord (it is worth taking a cord with a polypropylene core, as it will help to make a stronger knit);
    • pull the thread well (each next turn should fit evenly and tightly to the previous one);
    • fasten the thread every 20 turns, pulling it as much as possible and twisting it;
    • for greater strength, coat the weaving with glue.
  2. At regular intervals, fasten with a double loop on the braid of the hoop the sections of the cord folded in half. They should be half the length of the hoop.
  3. Weave the bottom of the chair with flat knots in a checkerboard pattern, securing the remaining ends to a free semicircle. The tension on the cords when weaving should be quite strong. It is not scary if the hoop is slightly deformed, in the future the shape will be restored.
  4. Connect the finished seat and backrest hoop by tying them together with a cord at the front of the structure.
  5. At the back, connect the seat and the backrest hoop with two wooden spacer bars, making cuts in their ends for a strong attachment. The length of the spacers is adjusted according to the desired backrest height.
  6. Attach the cords to the upper arch of the back and weave from top to bottom. Fasten the rest of the cords to the seat and form brushes out of them.
  7. Connect the upper arch of the back and seat with a thick cord parallel to the struts, and then remove them.
  8. Bind to finished structure slings. They also need to be made using the macrame technique from cords.
  9. Hang the chair.

How to make an egg chair at home

Chair-egg (cocoon) - the most difficult option for the home master. The structure is closed on three sides, and the side surfaces and backrest close over the head.

  1. For work, you can use metal-plastic pipes by assembling a frame from a hoop and additional arcs. To give additional rigidity, the structure is reinforced with several horizontal arcs, the elements are connected to each other with self-tapping screws.
  2. The finished frame is braided with a cord using the macrame technique, sheathed with fabric or crocheted.
  3. For those who know how to work with wood, it is not difficult to cut the frame out of thick plywood.

Fabric cocoon baby chair

For children, a cocoon chair can be sewn from fabric. It does not take up much space, it will organically fit into the interior of the children's room and is not traumatic.

To make it you will need:

  • 2 meters of dense fabric, 1.5 m wide;
  • lightning;
  • pillow or inflatable balloon;
  • sewing accessories.

The technique of making a cocoon is simple, the main thing is to follow the instructions.

Instead of a pillow or an inflatable chamber, a hoop can be inserted into the bottom of the chair, then you get a drop chair.

Fastening suspended rockers to the ceiling, rack, beam

For any suspended structures the main thing is a reliable fastening. The safety of those who use the chair depends on it. There are several mounting options:

  • to the ceiling;
  • to the leg stand;
  • to a tree branch or beam (for the street).

If indoors stretch ceiling, then it will be problematic to install the mount. In this case, you need to mount the structure before fixing the ceiling, or you should purchase a special stand-leg.

Consider different variants installation.

  1. A hole can be drilled in a concrete ceiling, a powerful anchor with a hook can be installed in it to suspend the structure. There are special kits on sale consisting of an anchor, a hook and a chain. The fasteners must be able to support at least 120 kg.
  2. The voids in the ceiling through the hole must be filled with a special polymer solution high strength - chemical anchors... These formulations are sold in syringe tubes. Then you need to insert an anchor into the hole and wait a day until the composition is completely dry.
  3. For ceilings with sturdy joists or for terraces and outdoors, bolting is suitable.
  4. For false ceiling it is worth purchasing a special suspension that has a bracket that is attached to the concrete ceiling and exits through the suspended one. A hook is screwed to it.

    The mounting bracket is installed on concrete ceiling, then a hook is screwed to it

  5. The slings are tied to the tree branch with a strong knot.
  6. The leg stand can be purchased at the store. It is convenient in that the chair is not permanently fixed in one place and it can be moved, and, if necessary, disassembled and transported.

Diy rack drawing

The simplest stand-leg for a hanging chair can actually be made by yourself.

  1. The wooden stand consists of only 5 parts, but it cannot be made without special equipment, all the parts are bent.
  2. The most common option is a metal stand. To make it you will need metal pipe, pipe bending equipment and welding.
  3. A simple version of a metal rack: the construction does not require complex drawings and special skills.

    For stability, a simple metal post is attached to vertical support chain or rope

You don't have to spend a lot of money to fully relax. With a creative approach to business, not only relaxation in a hanging chair, but also the process of its manufacture will become a rest. And the product will cause legitimate pride.

Anyone can make a do-it-yourself armchair for home. You just need to purchase some materials and spend a few hours of free time. It is also important to prepare accurate drawings, work schemes, and beginners will be helped by a master class on how to make a chair with their own hands.

When creating furniture, feel free to show your imagination. Even at home, you can make original, unique interior elements from the simplest products.

Types of chairs and general instructions for creating

Regardless of which drawings are applied, there is a certain algorithm for how to make a chair. First, individual parts of a piece of furniture are created, then they are processed - holes for fasteners are made in them, paintwork is applied. Then the product is assembled into one piece. In some cases, painting and opening with varnish is carried out after the manufacture of the chair has come to an end, that is, a whole, assembled product is already processed.

Before making a chair, you need to decide on its type. Furniture items can be roughly divided into:

  • Solid. They have no upholstery. In fact, they are chairs with armrests.
  • Semi-soft. Padded upholstery fits on the seat, backrest, armrests. This saves materials.
  • Soft. The upholstered armchair is fully upholstered with filled material. it the best solution for a home that will allow you to rest comfortably.
  • Rocking chairs.

The easiest option: create a solid chair

For those who have never made armchairs with their own hands, you should first pay attention to the drawings and instructions for creating solid products, without upholstery. If necessary, they can be supplemented with soft elements. Such products are distinguished by the fact that they are light, not so afraid of moisture, therefore they are well suited not only for the house, but also for the summer cottage.

An interior item can be made from scrap materials (for example, pallets) or wood. In the first case, ready-made parts are used, which should simply be processed and assembled in ready product.

Drawings or a master class for making a product from scrap materials are not required. A homemade pallet chair is created according to the following algorithm:

  1. Preparation of materials. If the pallets are old, it is better to disassemble them and carry out a series of actions.
    • Get rid of old nails. Rusty hardware doesn't just spoil appearance, but also very dangerous if injured by them.
    • Sand it. This is the only way to give old, dirty wood an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
    • Reassemble.
  2. Connect several pallets into one piece. The seat height is freely selectable depending on your wishes. The standard distance from the ground to the seat is 300-400 mm. If the product is intended for children, you can lower it.
  3. Painting and opening with varnish. This procedure can be performed prior to assembly.

The result is a sturdy home-made chair that will fit into general form a summer cottage or a loft-style apartment.

Wooden armchair

Drawings of a simple wooden chair:

The work will need the following materials and tools:

  • Boards and beams. It is important that the wood is carpentry - it has a moisture content of no more than 10-25%. In no case should you create a frame for furniture from building materials. Drying wood is a very long and technologically complex process.
  • Hardware - self-tapping screws, screws, nuts, washers.
  • Furniture conductor.
  • Saw or jigsaw.
  • Mallet.
  • Joiner's glue or PVA.

The algorithm for creating products is described above: first, all the parts are cut and processed (the drawing displays the required dimensions), after which they are fastened together. Here are a few important points to consider:

  • You can fasten the parts together using dowels. For this, holes of such a diameter are made at the attachment points so that the connecting element fits tightly into them. For greater strength, each hole is treated with glue.
  • When fastening with self-tapping screws, it is recommended to pre-drill small holes - this will make them easier to enter.
  • This product can be used as a frame to create an upholstered armchair. You can cover it with foam rubber and dense fabric, or make separate pillows with straps for attaching to the seat, back and armrests.

The rocking chair is created according to the same algorithm as other products. The most difficult task is to make a round base. In principle, it can be cut, but this requires a very thick board or beam.

These are not always found. Any master class on this topic provides a more professional solution - to bend a prepared part. To do this, it must be softened using one of the following methods:

  • Steam in a box. A special plywood box is created. Holes are made in it for the introduction of steam and several small holes for its exit. Parts are put inside, and water vapor is supplied (you can use a kettle).
  • Soak in ammonia. Work must be done with gloves and in a well-ventilated area.

After the material has become soft, it must be bent. To do this, either use special machines, or use simple design: two supports are placed at a distance slightly less than the length of the part, the product is installed on them and a load is placed in its middle. The bending radius depends on the weight of the load and the height of the supports.

A metal product can be either an independent piece of furniture, or provide a frame in order to make an upholstered armchair. The metal chair is very durable and sturdy, suitable for installation at home or on summer cottage.

The master class for creating a chair made of metal practically does not differ from the instructions for making wood products. It's just that welding or hardware is used to connect parts.

The metal frame is also made in a round hanging chair(hammock chair). The wicker seat can be made of vine, rattan, or other material. If you want to make a soft round chair, then you can sew foam rubber with fabric on the frame or make pillows separately.

The idea of \ u200b \ u200bmaking a children's soft chair with your own hands has a number of advantages. The main one is the opportunity to save money. Homemade furniture costs several times cheaper than purchased products. At self-production interior items you can choose optimal design, size and color of the final product.

Before starting work, it will be necessary to conduct a survey of the premises and draw up diagrams. It is necessary to measure the size of free niches and the area that can be occupied by furniture. If you make several of the same objects, then you can assemble a sofa or a corner from them for spending time together with the family or friends of the child.

To do Baby chair do it yourself, you will need to accurately calculate the need for materials. It is advisable not to skimp on fabrics and to make all pillows the same color on both sides. This will make the furniture look much better when unfolded.

You can calculate the pattern of a frameless chair using paper copies of each pillow and ottoman on a scale. Sewing procedure

For the manufacture of upholstered folding furniture, it is necessary to have a sufficient supply of needles and threads.

Sewing covers is performed in the following sequence:

  1. A strip of matter spreads to the floor. If possible, it is better to fix it tightly in the corners in a taut state.
  2. Patterns are transferred to the fabric. It is advisable to place templates on one line in order to obtain several blanks with one cut. The details of the pattern are made clearly visible. On the seamy side, the part is marked.
  3. The correctness of the markup is checked. After that, the matter is cut with scissors. The surplus is removed, and the blanks are stacked.
  4. The edges of the blanks are finished with an overlock. The covers are sewn together, zippers and a wide braid are attached to them.

To reinforce the edges of the cushions and give correct shape, sew a narrow braid at the corners of the covers.

A do-it-yourself bag chair is sewn in the same way. Since it has a rounded shape, the seams need not be reinforced with tape.

Backfill filler

For a pear-shaped product, an inner cover is made of dense fabric. It is necessary to retain small fragments and dust. As a filler, you can use balls of foam, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. All of these materials are environmentally friendly and sold in construction markets.

To fill the cover, 0.3-0.5 m³ of material is required. To accurately calculate the need, you need to multiply half the length of the rounded part by the width and depth of the base. It is recommended to purchase balls with a margin of 20-30% in order to add them to the case as the filler shrinks. Backfilling is carried out using a scoop, the completeness is determined empirically. The child is the employer. After filling the inner tank, it is zipped, and the outer cover is pulled over.

Making armchairs and chairs out of foam, polyurethane foam and mattresses is a great and profitable way to recycle old things. As raw materials old beds, wardrobes and sofas are used. Their component parts are used for blanks for frames, sidewalls, armrests and niches for things.
