Directly the seat itself is suspended by a synthetic rope (climbing equipment), a chain or a metal cable (automobile). In this case, it is not recommended to use household appliances. If it is not possible to use a welding machine, it is recommended to assemble the structure in the form of a letter P on bolts. To do this, you need a profile with a cross section of 60 by 60 mm. The choice of just such a product is due to the fact that it has greater strength compared to a round design. The supports should be about 3 m long, taking into account that about 50 cm will go into the ground to give the required stability.

The estimated height of the swing is 2 m. As for the length of the crossbar, there is a certain variability available, depending on how many seats are supposed to be installed and what their size. One frame allows installation of up to 3 seats. The material is the same - a profile with a section of 60 by 60 or 60 by 40 mm.

The crossbar is secured to the uprights with bolts, supplemented with locknuts and Grover washers. For this, using a special drill, the required holes are prepared, which are strengthened by thick metal plates installed from the inside.

The second option for making a swing

Pillars

For greater reliability, the sidewalls of the structure are recommended to be made in the form of the letter A. But the frame can also be assembled from single products that serve for support, and the corners installed at the bottom give it the required stability. The most common option is considered when the base of pipes in the form of a rectangle is first welded, to which two triangles are attached, installed vertically, and a jumper, thereby achieving visual correspondence to the letter A.   2. We expose the support pillars strictly vertically using the building level. All parts of the structure that will be buried in the ground should be coated with bituminous mastic.
  3. We weld a horizontal support from a 63 mm corner.
  4. In the holes along the perimeter, we install the elements of the L-shaped section and weld them to the horizontal guide.
  5. Pour concrete into the holes.
  6. We proceed to the assembly of the assembly based on the bearings.

For mounting parts of the support, a 3 mm thick metal tape is used, which must be bent. Frame fabrication. This will require pipes of 50 and 63 mm. Stage IV

The finished frame is installed in prepared pits and concreted. The frame for the seat is made of a 20x20x2 mm profile pipe, which implies the use of welding.

Stage V

The resulting structure is refined with ground planks, which are fastened to the bolts. After that, the frame is attached to the chains by welding, and they, in turn, are suspended on the frame. To do this, you can use carabiners, which allows you to easily adjust the length of the chains.

Let's start creating a swing bench from a profile pipe with our own hands. We take several bars 30x30x6000 mm and shorten them. You should get pieces of 1500 mm in the amount of 24 pieces. We dig 4 holes 450mm deep. For this we use a manual iron drill.

We mix concrete. Add cement, sand and water to the container in proportions 1: 2: 3. It is best to use a cement labeled M400.

Bearings are inserted into them, after which they are scalded to secure. On the other hand, for additional fixation, a small piece of metal is welded to overlap the pipe. A piece of pipe with a diameter of 27 millimeters will be inserted into the bearings.

Two plates are welded to a 27 mm pipe - this will be fasteners for carbines. The structure itself for the bearings is fixed to the crossbar using two pieces of metal. They are welded to the sides of the pipe into which they are inserted into the bearings. It is important - before starting the assembly of this part, apply grease to the bearing and periodically moisten it with water. If this is not done, then the material will heat up from welding, the steel will begin to expand and the structure will be damaged.

After the assembly of the frame is over, it is necessary to dig two holes under it, insert the ends of the pipe there and carefully concreting everything. After the concrete has dried, it is necessary to weld the stabilizing slopes from the remains of the pipes.

Then a crossbar is attached to them. This can be done using a special blank made of three pipe sections, where the edges of the supports and crossbeams are inserted.

When working independently, it will be easier to do this:

  1. Weld a triangle from the plate to the top of the posts, make a hole in it.
  2. Cut off the head of the bolt with a grinder, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the size of the crossbar.
  3. Insert this stud into the pipe and secure with a bolt connection, having previously drilled a through hole in both parts.
  4. Pass the end of the stud into the triangular blank welded to the uprights and tighten with a nut and locknut.

The supports are concreted. For this, holes are made with a drill in the ground with a depth of 40-50 cm, rammed, covered with sand and gravel. Pour in concrete. Leave to dry for a week.

Seat fixing options

To hang the seat, you need to fix a special device:

  • clamps of a suitable profile (round, square) with a hook for hangers;
  • you can also drill holes in the crossbar and thread anchor bolts with a loop at the end to attach a rope or chain;
  • the connection with bearings is the most reliable, but requires constant lubrication, otherwise a squeak cannot be avoided.

The seat is suspended on a synthetic rope, chain, metal cable with a cross section of 7 mm or more. A rope for transporting a car or a cord for equipment for climbers will do. The chains will rust when exposed to the environment. It is problematic to paint them, it is safer to take galvanized ones.

The seat is best made of wood, which is warm and pleasant to the touch. If the drawing provides for a large seat in the form of a bench or chair, the seat is reinforced with a metal frame.

Threaded design, no welding

Those who do not know how to work with a welding machine can make a U-shaped base on threaded connections. For pillars, profiled square pipes of at least 60 × 60 mm are used. They are more stable and durable compared to round ones. The length of the supports is up to three meters, while 50-60 cm are concreted in the ground.

So, the height of the swing will be 2 m. The length of the cross member depends on the size of the seats and their number: up to three seats can be suspended on one frame. The material used is the same 60 × 60 or 60 × 40 mm profile. Drawings of such a swing are quite simple and straightforward.

Connect the crossbar to the uprights with bolts, using locknuts and grovers. Holes are drilled in it for fasteners, which are reinforced from the inside with thick metal plates.

It remains to hang the seat on a chain or cable - and your home garden "attraction" is ready.

Swing benches

Drawings of such a swing provide for some differences: the supports are wider, the fasteners are more powerful, the pipe is thicker. After all, they have to withstand the weight of a massive bench seat and several people.

To hide from the sun's rays while relaxing, a canopy is made of fabric, wood, polycarbonate. The lower it is set, the more shadow it will cast. A comfortable hanging garden bench with soft cushions.
