District geography. District geography History and culture

Today Moscow is a huge city, where you can find amazing places and sights even far from the center. Having decided to study the Russian capital in more detail, it is worth starting with its Northwestern District (SZAO), which is distinguished by the most favorable environmental and criminal conditions, as well as the best state of infrastructure.

As you know, the North-West Administrative District includes such districts as Kurkino, Mitino, Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo, Strogino, Tushino, Horoshevo-Mnevniki and Shchukino.

Even if you just look at the map of Moscow, you will notice that the North-Western District differs from the rest by the abundance of reservoirs, parks and other green areas. It is the SZAO that surprisingly combines picturesque corners of nature and places of mass recreation of people. One of the most famous sights of the district is "Serebryany Bor" - a natural monument of regional importance, which has the status of a specially protected area.

The SZAO is also famous for its natural and historical parks, the most popular of which is Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo. Here are the favorite places for recreation of the townspeople, clean beaches and springs, but the main highlight of the area, perhaps, is the old estate Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo. This architectural monument is really worth a visit, despite the fact that now it is in a somewhat deplorable state. The estate has a red brick fence with observation towers and is very reminiscent of the Kremlin.

In addition, in the North-West district of the capital, the Tushino area is quite interesting. Among its attractions are the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, the Bratsevo estate, the Museum-Park complex "Northern Tushino", the monument to Skhodnenskaya Chalice, the park "Northern Tushino" and the natural park "Tushinsky", as well as the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, a chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Healer" and the chapel of the holy prince Dimitry Donskoy.

One of the best hotels in this area is the "Taezhny", which hourly rooms are made in a unique design style. It offers 12 cozy and spacious rooms for every taste and budget. After a hard week of work or a day spent walking in beautiful places, you can relax here and have a good time.

Not far from Tayozhnoye is the Strogino area, where you can see the Strogino yacht port, many ancient temples and chapels, a monument to the defenders of Moscow - a self-propelled car, a monument to the soldiers of the Troitse-Lykovo village and much more.

Arriving at the Tayozhny Hotel, you don't have to go to the center in search of sights, because the North-West District of Moscow also has a lot of interesting things. Moreover, the Taezhny complex has its own bath complex, restaurant and karaoke.

History of SZAO (North-Western Administrative District)

In the north, it is bounded by the residential areas of Kurkin, in the west - by the Moscow Ring Road, in the east - by the Khimki reservoir, in the south by the valley of the Moskva River, the green massif of the Horoshevsky forest park (Serebryany Bor) and the Mnevnikovskaya bend of the Moskva River. It includes 8 districts: Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo, Severnoe Tushino, Strogino, Horoshevo-Mnevniki, Shchukino, Yuzhnoe Tushino, as well as Kurkino and Mitino (located outside the Moscow Ring Road). The district includes historical areas: Troitse-Lykovo, Verkhniye Mnevniki, Nizhnie Mnevniki, Terekhovo, Bratsevo, Serebryany Bor, etc.

The area of the district is 106.9 km2 (10.8% of the area of the city), including the residential area - 73 km2. Population 617.6 thousand people (7.2% of the total number of Muscovites); the population density is 5.8 thousand people per 1 km2 (1995).

SZAO has a strong industrial and scientific potential. The leading industry is mechanical engineering, including aircraft construction and radio electronics (Tushinsky machine-building plant, Orbita plant, Chernyshev MMPO machine-building enterprise, NPO Molniya, NPO Astrofizika, NPO Vympel, NPO Mir "). The light industry is well developed (the Tushino hosiery factory, the Tushino textile factory "Pobeda").

There are more than 200 industrial enterprises and about 220 scientific institutions in the district, among them - the Russian Scientific Center "Kurchatov Institute", the All-Russian Research Institute of Automobile Transport, the largest medical institutions (Research Institute of Transplantology and Artificial Organs, Institute of Virology named after D.I. Ivanovsky, Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F.Gamaleya, Institute of Molecular Genetics).

The ecological situation in the North-West Administrative District is influenced by more than 150 polluting industrial (CHPP-16, VV Chernyshev MMPO, Sovremstroymaterialy Combine, etc.) and motor transport enterprises. In terms of environmental quality, the Strogino and Kurkino districts are ecologically comfortable.

Main transport routes: Volokolamskoe highway, Pyatnitskoe highway; Freedom, People's Militia and Marshal Katukov streets; Marshal Zhukov Avenue; Riga direction of the Moscow railway.

The total area of the housing stock is 12.5 million m2; the provision of the population with housing is 20.2 m2 per 1 inhabitant (1995). Mass housing construction on the territory of the district was carried out in the 1960s and 1980s, when the Northern Tushino, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki and Strogino were built. In the 1990s. residential areas are being built in Mitino, reconstruction of five-story buildings in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki has begun (1994). In accordance with the natural landscape, approved (1994) a planning project for the Kurkino residential area (it is called "Moscow Switzerland"), providing for the construction of multi-storey houses, including cottages, as well as the development and reconstruction of the villages of Kurkino and Yurovo. In Nizhniye Mnevniki, construction of the first stage of the children's Park of Miracles began (1995).

The trade sphere is represented by 360 enterprises of all types of property (including "Ocean", "Universam-Strogino", "Vesna"; radio market in Mitino; city market "Tushinsky"). Consumer and communal services are carried out (1995) by about 240 consumer services enterprises (including the large bath and recreation complex "Skhodnya") and over 270 public catering enterprises.

The district has 29 polyclinics (including 12 for children), 2 maternity hospitals, 2 children's sanatoriums, an orphanage and a boarding house for the elderly, 18 hospitals (including the Tushino children's multidisciplinary hospital, the central clinical hospital No. 1 of the Ministry of Railways, the central hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , Central Basin Hospital).

In 1995, over 160 preschool institutions, 92 general education, 7 music, 11 art schools, 4 gymnasiums, 3 experimental lyceum schools, the Police College, 9 vocational schools, 3 universities, including the Tushino complex of the Russian Chemical-Technological University named after DI. Mendeleev, Russian Correspondence Institute of Textile and Light Industry and the Academy of Public Utilities named after K.D. Pamfilov.

The network of cultural institutions of the North-West Administrative District includes: 32 libraries, 7 cinemas ("Baltika", "Tajikistan", "Patriot", etc.), 5 clubs, 8 palaces and houses of culture, exhibition halls "Tushino" and "Khodynka", 3 museums ("Gems", etc.). There are sports facilities and complexes: "October", "Red October", "Salute", "Regatta", etc. On the territory of the North-West Administrative District there are historical, cultural and architectural monuments: the old estates of Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo and Bratsevo, 9 operating churches, including including the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Tushino, built in 1886. There are two hotels in the North-West Administrative District: "Start" and "Gostiny Dvor".

On the territory of the Okrug there is an airfield "Tushino", built in 1935 on the former flooded meadows of the Moscow River for the Central Aero Club of the USSR named after V.P. Chkalov. Since the mid-1940s. traditional air parades were held here, and since 1991 - annual city aviation-sports festivals.

The most popular places for recreation and recreation are Novogorsk forest park, Serebryany Bor, Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo, Zakharkovo garden, Stroginskaya floodplain of the Moskva River, Khimki reservoir. The beaches in Serebryany Bor and Khimki-2 are recognized as the cleanest within the city.

Various ratings of Moscow districts and districts are quite popular among analytical centers and metropolitan real estate agencies. Not always coinciding in detail, these reports are unanimous on the merits, whether it is the environmental, criminal situation or the state of infrastructure. And if someone tries to find a favorite in a variety of nominations, then he will have no doubts: this is the North-Western Administrative District.

Closer to the "water"

The main highlight of the SZAO is its water resources. Just look at the map, and you will understand that the North-Western District is for the capital - what Karelia is for Russia: the land of forests, lakes and rivers, pleasing to the eye, giving rest to body and soul.

The reservoirs of the Northwestern District make up more than 35% of the entire water area of Moscow. The water surface stretches along the entire territory of the North-West Administrative District, from the Khimki reservoir at its northeastern border to the Moskva River with canals, the Stroginsky Bay and Serebryanoborsk lakes. True, many reservoirs are only an aesthetic pleasure: you can neither swim nor fish here. Yes, such an idea is unlikely to come to mind of a resident of a metropolis, surrounded by numerous environmental threats.

At the same time, in the North-Western District you can find reserved corners in the literal sense of the word, where nature will appear before you in all its splendor. Far from being deprived of green areas, SZAO also has unique natural and historical parks that have the status of specially protected areas: Serebryany Bor and Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo. The recreation areas located in these green oases are favorite places for Muscovites, the beaches are the cleanest in the capital, and the water from many springs (for example, the Swan Princess in Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo) is drinkable.

Calm, only calm ...

What else is the Northwestern District famous for? Of course, an outstanding ecology, which directly follows from the richness of its water and forest resources. Some analysts give SZAO the first place in the ecological rating of the capital, others put it on the honorable second. The bottom line does not change from this: it is much safer to live here than in any other place in Moscow. This is also confirmed by the fact that the average life expectancy in the Northwestern District is higher than in any of the other administrative districts of Moscow.

This applies not only to environmental safety: in the criminal sense, the North-West District is also a very prosperous territory. Formally, this is the quietest district within the usual limits of Moscow, bounded by the Moscow Ring Road; in addition, the North-West District has the smallest population. Therefore, the residents of the district are in some advantage over the rest of the capital's population: life here is more calm and measured.

District ecology: surrounded by natural landscapes

The Northwestern District is the undisputed environmental leader of the capital. This is explained by the high specific gravity of its water and forest bodies, the complete absence of the kilometer-long industrial enclaves that are usual for Moscow, and a relatively stable transport situation.

Natural objects, according to official data, occupy more than 46% of the district's territory. Ecology is everywhere, even in the coats of arms of the district and districts, on which lilies of the valley and violets, spruces and pines, and even oak leaves with acorns flaunt. And the colors of the coats of arms are more than eloquent: either blue, a symbol of water, or green, habitually associated with a rich natural environment.

Kurkino, Strogino, Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo and Severnoye Tushino are ecologically clean out of 8 districts of the North-West Administrative District. The remaining 4 districts are ecologically acceptable for living (and in fact, all over Moscow there are only 1/3 of the total number of such districts). Thus, even blindly choosing a place of residence in the SZAO, you will definitely not miss: the chances of being safe are 100%.

Who messed up the air?

The main and constant source of pollution in Moscow is motor vehicles, which account for more than 90% of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. And although the level of concentration of harmful substances in the atmosphere of the SZAO is the lowest among all the districts, it is still not possible to completely do without sources of danger.

The busiest highways in the North-Western District are Volokolamskoye Highway and the Moscow Ring Road, they are also responsible for up to 95% of daily emissions of CO, dust, heavy metals, formaldehydes and other nasty things into the air. The situation on Pyatnitskoye, Stroginskoye and Kurkinskoye highways is less tense.

Industrial enterprises on the territory of the Okrug are a very rare phenomenon. There will be no more than 15-20 of them in total, and even less of those who destroy the environment. Perhaps the most technogenic are the Tushinsky Machine-Building Plant, the Khoroshevsky Reinforced Concrete Plant and the Tushinsky Reinforced Concrete Plant.

Dear editor, maybe it's better about the reactor?

Many residents of Shchukino are alarmed by the Kurchatov Institute located on the territory of the district, created in 1943 with the aim of developing nuclear weapons. And even if the modern direction of the institute is the domestication of the peaceful atom and harmless chemical and physical research, the consequences of numerous tests of the Soviet era could not pass without leaving a trace for the radiation background of the region.

To this day, reactors and accelerator complexes operate within the walls of the institute. Their danger, perhaps, is too exaggerated in the public mind. But the burial of radioactive waste is a more real thing and, as a rule, is not subject to publicity. In those days, the concept of "ecology" was unknown to the inquisitive minds of participants in nuclear programs, and the waste after testing settled in the immediate vicinity. For example, it is a well-known fact that there is an “interesting” house outside the Moscow Ring Road at the entrance to the Mitino area. Initially, it was planned as a deputy, but later it was promptly given to refugees precisely because of its location at the burial site of radioactive waste ...

But on the whole, the ecology of the North-West Administrative District is ideal by the standards of Moscow. In addition, it is quiet and calm here, which is rather an exception to the rule in a modern metropolis congested to the limit.

Population of the Northwestern District

Despite some diversity in the social composition of the district, its contingent is characterized as prosperous. Historically, the main backbone of the population employed in the field of intellectual work and education has formed here. This is mainly manifested in the areas of Shchukino and Strogino. There are more than 50 research institutes in the district, including the largest research centers in Russia: Kurchatov Institute, Research Institute of Virology, Epidemiology, Transplantology and Artificial Organs, etc.

At the same time, the population of the Mitino, North Tushino and Horoshevo-Mnevniki districts consists mainly of those on the waiting list who received legal housing here, and in Pokrovsky Streshnevo there are many workers among the residents.

The total population of the North-West District as of January 1, 2012 is 950 thousand people, which corresponds to 8% of the population of Moscow. After the Central District, it is the second smallest district, not counting the Zelenograd Autonomous Okrug. However, the population density here is the average in Moscow and is about 11 thousand people. for 1 sq. km. Pensioners make up about 20% of the total population of the district, while the able-bodied population makes up about 65%.

Geographic division of the county

The North-West District contains 8 districts, two of which are located outside the Moscow Ring Road. All of them are united by a common ecological component for the district, at the same time, unlike other districts, it is impossible to clearly distinguish either central regions or peripheral ones. Therefore, the prestige of the territories of the North-West Administrative District depends on the location in the last turn.

Strogino - water entertainment center

Strogino is rightfully considered one of the most ecologically clean areas of Moscow. It also ranks first in terms of prestige in the Northwestern District, despite its considerable distance from the center. In such assessments, both analytical centers and ordinary citizens agree, in whose subjective opinion Strogino is the best district of Moscow.

Natural territories occupy more than 50% of the area of the region. There are both forests (Rublevsky forest) and vast recreational areas, the most famous of which is the Stroginskaya floodplain. Still, the main highlight of Strogino is water bodies: the northern, eastern and southern parts of the district are washed by the Moskva River, which, in addition, forms two large bays on the territory of Strogino: Kirovsky Zaton and Stroginsky Bay.

The most popular and well-equipped place for recreation and entertainment is the Stroginskaya Poima. There is everything for a high-quality water recreation: equipped beaches, which are loved by many residents of the capital (among which there is even a nudist one, however, there are mostly naked men there). Anyone can find a variety of activities here, from riding a scooter to flying a hang glider. In addition to beaches, the Stroginskaya floodplain is rich in other water recreation facilities, including a water ski stadium, a yacht club, a surf club, etc.

Perhaps the only drawback of Strogino is its great distance from the city center: the western border of the district borders on the Moscow Ring Road. However, this fact even plays into the hands of the image of a calm secluded place. Moreover, the district "adds" every year in terms of transport accessibility: in 2007, the North-West tunnel was opened, connecting Zhukov Avenue directly with the center, and a year later - the Strogino metro station, which strengthened the district's transport positions.

In general, Strogino has a slight bias towards business class, which is explained by the many highly rated territories located near the water. At the same time, the village of Troitse-Lykovo is a unique rarity of the region - perhaps the only village on the territory of modern Moscow, moreover, located on a strategic stretch of the Moskva River coastal strip adjacent to the government dachas "Sosnovka".

The infrastructure of the district is being formed and residential buildings are being built to meet the demands of the wealthy stratum of society. Therefore, among new buildings, luxury housing predominates, which naturally applies to the price tag: the average cost per square meter in a new business or middle class monolith is about 145 thousand rubles. However, it is cheaper than the whole district, not to mention the average city prices. Therefore, many analysts point to the underestimation of Strogino real estate, which has a high investment potential.

Since construction in Strogino began in the late 70s and early 80s, there are simply no dilapidated buildings among secondary housing, and most of the objects are economy-class apartments at a price of 5.3 to 6.5 million for a one-room apartment, from 7 to 9 million for a two-room apartment and from 8 million for a three-room apartment. The rental rates are on average 25 thousand, 30 thousand and 40 thousand for one-, two- and three-room apartments.

Kurkino: a successful experiment

Kurkino is the youngest district of the North-West Administrative District, and of the entire capital. Its architectural appearance began to form only in the 2000s, while the builders approached the issue comprehensively and taking into account the natural landscapes into which the microdistricts were organically inscribed. It should also be noted that among the residential buildings of the experimental district of Kurkino there are no typical houses: all housing was built according to individual projects, and high-rise buildings are located in the vicinity of townhouse villages.

During the construction, not only the valley of the Skhodnya River and the picturesque hilly terrain, for which many call Kurkino "Moscow Switzerland", were preserved, but also the villages of Kurkino and Yurovo as part of the modern district. At the same time, this area is ideal in terms of landscaping and social infrastructure, and is the leader in terms of quality of life among other areas of the North-West District.

With an excellent ecology, Kurkino is as prosperous as it is difficult to access. Firstly, it is located outside the Moscow Ring Road, and the only direct exit to Moscow is st. Youth. Secondly, Kurkino does not have its own metro station, and the nearest Planernaya or River station is at least 15 minutes away. on land transport, and at rush hours twice as long: not low beam.

At the same time, apartments here are quite expensive, therefore, despite all the advantages of suburban life in civilized conditions, the demand for housing is not so great. Without even forgetting about the large footage, the prices for the castle are simply cosmic: a one-room apartment costs 6-8 million rubles, a two-room apartment - 7.5-9 million rubles, a three-ruble note - 10-20 million rubles. 30 thousand, 40 thousand and 50 thousand rubles will cost the rent of 1-, 2- and 3-room apartments.

Shchukino area: splitting an atom ...

Shchukino has an important advantage over the rest of the North-West Administrative District: it occupies a very favorable geographical position. The western border of the district adjoins the bank of the Moskva River, its southern part borders on the picturesque Serebryany Bor, and the northern part "clings" to the Volokolamskoe highway, connecting Shchukino with the business center of the capital.

Shchukino is a significant center of scientific thought: the largest Russian research institutes are located here: the Kurchatov Institute, the N.N. Gamalei, the Institute of Genetics, the Medical Biophysical Center, the Research Institute of Inorganic Materials, the Research Institute of Virology, etc. We will leave the readers to decide whether this is good or bad, it is only worth reminding that the profile of most research institutes is directly related to radioactivity, and even the region's coat of arms is decorated with the symbol of a split atom ...

The population of the district corresponds to the institutions prevailing here, mainly scientists and intellectuals, which makes Shchukino one of the few socially prosperous districts in Moscow. The housing stock of the district is very diverse: there are both pre-war 3-storey buildings and modern business-class residential complexes, the most famous of which is the Alye Parusa residential complex. Its arsenal includes a full range of elite infrastructure, from a water park, a tennis center and a yacht club to a helipad on the roof of one of the buildings.

There are two metro stations on the territory of the district, which completely removes the transport issue. The infrastructure is also well developed, from medical and educational facilities to shopping and entertainment: the Shchuka shopping and entertainment center and the Alye Parusa shopping center. However, settling here, even with an average income, is very problematic: mainly housing is represented by objects of medium and business class at a price of 250-270 thousand rubles. for 1 sq. m, and the economy segment accounts for only 25% of the total volume of the Shchukin housing stock.

It is also not easy to rent cheap housing in Shchukino, most of the offers are business class, and prices are frightening with the number of zeros even for the most sophisticated: 100 thousand rubles. a renovated multi-room apartment will cost on average a month, and the rental rates for apartments in one of the elite residential complexes are even five times higher ... However, with a certain persistence, you can find yourself a one- or two-room nest for 30-35 thousand his condition is likely to be close to deplorable.

Horoshevo-Mnevniki

It is the largest region in terms of numbers in the Northwestern District. And it is located closest to the city center. However, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki cannot boast of great prestige, mainly due to the difficult transport situation. It’s a paradox, but on such an impressive territory, located close to the city center, there is not a single metro station.

Like most districts of the North-West Administrative District, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki has many exits to the water: almost 2/3 of its perimeter has picturesque views of the Moskva River, and in the western part there is Serebryany Bor - a specially protected natural area with unique landscapes, lakes and equipped recreation areas ...

At the same time, the southeastern part of the district is occupied by an industrial zone, which houses more than half of the enterprises of the entire Northwestern District, from auto plants to numerous factories of reinforced concrete products and CHPP-16. However, all enterprises are located compactly, not mixing with residential areas, and the greater environmental damage from their presence is inflicted on the neighboring Khoroshevsky district ...

The residential development of the area is very diverse, while the houses are not too old, built in 1970-80. Experimental construction projects can also be found here, for example, the first town-house settlement in Moscow “Godunovo”, located on the high picturesque bank of the Moskva River, just opposite the sensational “Rechnik”, located on the opposite bank.

Or the youth residential complex "Atom", which arose in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki during the perestroika years, and became the first association of homeowners in Russia. It was possible to get an apartment there by simply getting a job in the staff of the MZhK, thanks to which a contingent of the most disruptive young people of that time was selected in Atom. It was here that the first cooperatives, the country's first cable television, and the first self-supporting school began to appear.

In Horoshevo-Mnevniki it is quite possible to find inexpensive housing, there are many offers for middle-class apartments. The cheapest one-room apartment costs about 5 million rubles, a two-room apartment - 6.5 million rubles, three rubles - from 8 million rubles. Rent can also be inexpensive: from 20 thousand rubles. for a one-room apartment, from 30 thousand - for a two-room apartment.

Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo

It is a classic region of the North-Western District, surrounded by numerous water bodies. In fact, it is located on an artificial island formed by the Moskva River, the Moscow Canal and the Skhodnya River. There are two attractions in Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo: the natural-historical park “Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo” with the manor of the same name, drinking springs, bicycle paths and playgrounds, as well as the territory of the Tushinsky airfield, the fate of which is still unclear.

Most likely, over time, residential complexes will appear on the site of the Tushino airport, despite public outcry. Construction work began in 2007 by laying the groundwork for the Spartak football club stadium, which is being built at an accelerated pace for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The infrastructure of the district is quite developed and is represented by both numerous educational and healthcare institutions, from hospitals and clinics to the Research Institute of Neurology of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Also on the territory of Pokrovsky-Streshnev is the Prefecture of the North-Western District.

The district has one metro station - Tushinskaya, however, it is characterized by complete chaos in the organization of public transport to the metro (more precisely, its absence). As a result, residents of microdistricts 14 and 15 have to make daily two-kilometer foot raids to / from the metro, which are far from safe, since they run along the industrial zone and the railway line of the Riga direction. In these places, there is an increased criminal danger, there are frequent cases of robbery and rape, especially in deserted times.

The main transport artery of the region is Volokolamskoe highway, which, in addition to direct communication with the center, causes a number of inconveniences associated with its high workload. Also in Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo there is an impressive industrial zone "Knitwear", which, in addition to concrete plants and the Tushino hosiery factory, houses the largest defense industry and SZAO - the Krasny Oktyabr plant, which produces aircraft engines.

Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo is a fairly old area, the predominant type of residential development is brick and panel houses of 1940-1970. Among the new buildings are mainly business-class residential areas, exploiting the excellent species characteristics of the coastal areas of Pokrovsky-Streshnev.

For those who want to buy an apartment here, a lot of options are available for any wallet. Economy-class housing is quite inexpensive, but its location, most likely, will not be entirely strategic, and with a high degree of probability, future new settlers will face an acute transport issue. Nevertheless, for 4.5-5 million rubles. you can pick up a one-room apartment, the cheapest two-room apartment will cost about 5.5 million rubles, and a three-ruble note - 7.5 million rubles. Rent of one-, two-room apartments will be 25-30 thousand rubles. per month.

South Tushino: a hard-to-reach working village

The former suburban town of Tushino became part of Moscow in 1960. Its territory is divided today between the South and North Tushino, as well as the Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo area. The area of South Tushino has a very clear geographical differentiation: in the west - green areas, in the south - industrial facilities, and residential areas occupy the northeastern part of the district.

In the most northwestern point of South Tushin, in the area of the Putilovskaya interchange of the Moscow Ring Road, there is a park and the Bratsevo estate. The picturesque places around the Skhodnya River oxbow attract crowds of artists and cinematographers to this little-known land: many feature films (and later TV series) were shot in the estate, including Say a Word to the Poor Hussar and The Young Peasant Woman, familiar to many viewers.

A little to the east of Bratsevo is the famous, forested Skhodnenskaya Bowl with a diameter of 1 km and a depth of up to 40 m, at the bottom of which lies the winding channel of the Skhodnya River. There is still no consensus about its origin: some consider the formation of the bowl as a consequence of the fall of a meteorite, others - the descent of glaciers. Be that as it may, this place is a unique natural monument of regional importance.

In addition to the unique natural landscapes, the local infrastructure is one of the advantages of the area. The situation is not bad with educational institutions, including several universities, with clinics and hospitals, as well as shopping and entertainment facilities. In addition to a wide network of the most famous shops within walking distance, there are 4 shopping centers in Yuzhny Tushino.

The transport situation, on the contrary, is close to critical: the region has no direct communication with the center, from the east it is squeezed by the Khimki reservoir, from the south by the Skhodensky derivation canal, and the only connection with the world is Svoboda Street, leading to the Volokolamskoye Highway. Both of these transport arteries are eternal traffic jams. With the metro, the situation is no easier: despite the presence of Skhodnenskaya station, it is extremely inconvenient to get to it, since it is located on the northernmost border of the district.

The largest industrial facility in the region is the Tushino machine-building plant, which belongs to the aerospace industry (it was here that the Buran was built), but better known for the fact that Ikarus buses are assembled in the workshops of the plant by conversion. Near the plant is the notorious unfinished construction of South Tushino - the 11th microdistrict, where, as a result of intricate bureaucratic procedures, unidentified persons “laundered” more than 5 billion rubles. The extreme, as always, turned out to be the defrauded equity holders, whose army is so far unsuccessfully trying to restore justice.

“All Moscow is destroyed, only Tushino is left” - such a saying goes around the city. Indeed, in South Tushino you can find buildings of the 1930s, and the main housing stock is made up of brick and panel houses from 1950-1970. A one-room apartment in South Tushino will cost from 5 to 7 million rubles, a two-room apartment - from 6 to 9 million rubles, a three-room apartment - from 8.5 million rubles. Housing rental will cost 20-25 thousand rubles. for a one-room apartment, 25-35 thousand for a two-room apartment, and from 40 thousand for a three-ruble note.

Northern Tushino

Despite the maximum distance from the center, it differs from its southern namesake in better transport accessibility: 2 metro stations operate here, which partially save this distant area from a traffic collapse. From the point of view of ecology, Northern Tushino is also preferable: it is called one of the greenest corners of the capital. Here are the Aleshkinsky forest park and the North Tushino park, which is located on the banks of the Khimki reservoir.

Starting as a dormitory area, North Tushino in a short time managed to acquire an excellent diverse infrastructure, which can be the envy of more than one Russian city. There is everything for a fulfilling life, and there is practically no need to become a victim of metropolitan traffic jams when getting to the center. Among the sports and entertainment facilities - the Park of Culture with concert venues and attractions, an equestrian center, a sports and leisure center and sports complexes.

The educational sector is represented by 22 kindergartens, 16 schools, 3 universities and a small business college. Among health care institutions there are 5 polyclinics, of which 2 are children's, a maternity hospital, a children's city hospital and an orphanage. There are 5 libraries in the area, and a museum of the history of the Russian Navy has been opened in the submarine “Novosibirsk Komsomolets”, moored near the Severnoye Tushino culture and recreation park.

Back in 1930, on the territory of the modern region, the Zakharkovsky airfield was located, from where Soviet Arctic expeditions started beyond the Arctic Circle. Subsequently, the airfield was built up with residential areas, and the names of the streets and the Planernaya metro station became the only reminder of the existence of the airfield.

Housing prices in Northern Tushino are more than acceptable: the cheapest one-room apartment costs 4.5 million rubles, a two-room apartment - 6 million rubles, three rubles - from 7.5 million rubles. 20 thousand, 30 thousand and 40 thousand rubles. - these are the minimum rental rates for 1-, 2- and 3-room apartments.

Mitino area

Located outside the Moscow Ring Road, it is not subjectively perceived as some kind of outskirts of Moscow. First of all, this is the merit of the well-developed transport infrastructure of the area, where, in addition to two major highways, Volokolamskoye and Pyatnitskoye highways, which merge together just in front of the Moscow Ring Road, there are two full-fledged stations of the Moscow Metro.

Mitino is conveniently located surrounded by woodlands: Novogorsk forest park from the north, Landscape park and an oak grove from the south, the natural boundaries of the Otradnenskoye settlement from the west and a forest belt along the Moscow Ring Road from the east, reliably shelter Mitinski residential quarters, creating here a unique resort atmosphere and privacy without sacrificing functionality.

Mitino is distinguished by a competent system of planning the quarters (due to which the district looks like a single whole), landscaping and a well-developed infrastructure. There are kindergartens with schools, a swimming pool, a sports and fitness center, and a fitness center. There are 4 shopping and entertainment complexes in Mitino and the most famous object of the district is the Mitino radio market. True, developers have worked hard on it, and from a popular flea market it has turned into another remake shopping center, where frank Chinese consumer goods are sold to customers behind a beautiful wrapper of modern design.

The Mitino district is one of the youngest on the modern map of Moscow; its active construction began in the 1990s. Therefore, almost the entire housing stock is represented by modern high-rise buildings, both standard series and built according to individual projects. The cost of apartments here is quite low, which makes it possible to purchase more comfortable and spacious housing for money, which in other districts of the capital would be enough only for a dilapidated Khrushchev.

A one-room apartment costs about 5-6 million rubles here, a two-room apartment - 6-8 million, a three-room apartment - 8-10 million rubles. Renting housing is also no problem: a single room will cost about 23 thousand rubles, a two-room apartment - 27 thousand rubles, a three-ruble note - from 30 thousand rubles. per month.

District infrastructure: away from traffic collapse

Despite the loud epithets with which the SZAO is habitually endowed, it has one significant drawback inherent in almost any territory of the district: the transport issue. The entire Northwestern District is like a big wedge casually squeezed into the body of Moscow. As a result, even the district closest to the center - Khoroshevo-Mnevniki - only slightly touches the Central District, and all other districts gravitate more towards the Moscow Ring Road.

In addition, the district is practically not covered by major highways, which creates additional difficulties for the transport accessibility of its districts, which are a priori remote. The only transport artery passing through the entire district is Zvenigorodskoe highway, which turns into Marshal Zhukov Avenue. It connects with the center the districts of Horoshevo-Mnevniki and Strogino located in the south. In the northern part of the district, the situation is more complicated: Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo and Mitino (partly - Shchukino) are covered by the Volokolamskoe highway, however, due to constant traffic jams, the epicenter of transport tension in the North-West Administrative District is located here.

Not to say that the Moscow metro is especially supportive of the north-western direction: there are only 8 metro stations for the entire district, and two districts (and among them the most "center" - Khoroshevo-Mnevniki) are generally deprived of the main type of metropolitan transport. Oddly enough, the best provision of metro stations is in the zamkadny district of Mitino: in addition to two operating stations (which is already a rarity for the district), in 2012-2013. a new metro depot and the third station, Pyatnitskaya, are being prepared for commissioning.

Problems of housing and communal services in the district are not much different from other districts of Moscow: "registration" of management companies in receipts for housing and communal services, insufficient temperature of heat carriers, emergency condition of elevators in "old" houses of the late 1970s, lack of parking spaces. Although in terms of the presence of guest parking lots in the courtyards (45% of the total number of vehicles), the district is not the last.

Strogino is the leader in the identified violations and abuses in the urban economy: residents of this area receive the most complaints about the unsatisfactory work of management companies for servicing houses and courtyards. Perhaps the reason for this is the high population density or its social activity, since Strogino's problems are partly characteristic of the entire district.

At the same time, it is in Strogino that the issue of the massive illegal construction of fenced paid parking lots, popularly known as "watermelon farms," is acute. Built in violation of all fire safety and urban planning rules from flammable plastic and blocking the entrances to many houses, these commercial "pens" not only extort money "for parking" from residents of courtyards, but also create additional inconveniences, up to a threat to the life and health of honest citizens.

Judging by the fact that the numerous complaints of indignant residents to various authorities did not receive any response, the absolute majority of the Strogino population agree that this is another corruption project of the local government.

Another problem affecting the district as a whole and Strogino in particular is the catastrophic lack of lighting in courtyards and playgrounds. It is not uncommon for an entire courtyard to be illuminated by a single lantern, which also burns out from time to time. The consequences of this are obvious: an increased risk of injury at night and an increase in street crime.

Despite the penultimate place in Moscow, the main mode of transport in the SZAO is still the metro. Residents of the Kurkino district and other places remote from the metro use public and private transport to get to the nearest metro station. Therefore, on the streets and in the courtyards adjacent to the terminal stations of the metro, especially on weekdays, there is something like a large parking lot: cars are parked here almost on top of each other.

Residents of the Krasnogorsk District adjacent to the North-West Administrative District, which is famous for the highest rates of new housing construction in the Moscow Region, are significantly increasing the load both on the metro and on the surrounding yards, especially in the area of the Mitino metro station.

The social infrastructure of the North-West District shows the average data for Moscow: in terms of the number of kindergartens, schools and facilities in the sphere of trade and consumer services, the SZAO is in solid middle peasants. Since many districts of the district began to be actively built up only in the last 25-30 years, their architectural solutions initially provided for the required number of socially significant objects.

The leader in terms of social infrastructure development is Strogino (with the best comprehensive school in Moscow "Integration XXI Century" and many private ones, from art schools and the study of several foreign languages to the Hercules school of health).

In addition to shopping centers on the territory of the North-West Administrative District, an entire trading city is located directly on the border of the district with the Moscow Ring Road: the Auchan hypermarket, the giant Way-Park and Crocus City Mall shopping malls, the 24-hour Tvoy Dom hypermarket with more than a hundred thousand goods for home, repair and construction, and even more large-scale Stroginsky market of building materials "Sindika-O".

And, of course, the Crocus-Expo International Exhibition Center, which arouses admiration in some, and undisguised irritation in others. Despite the personal metro station "Myakinino", on the days of major exhibitions, the sections of the Moscow Ring Road adjacent to the exhibition center are tightly blocked. Moreover, getting from Crocus-Expo to the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road is a task almost at the level of higher mathematics.

County economy: tenants will save the world

The Northwestern District can be described as a non-industrial territory. A factory or a factory is a very rare phenomenon here. Numerous research institutes and related high-tech industries are more typical for the district. The main industries are aerospace, nuclear, food and construction materials.

Among the largest, "district-forming" enterprises of the North-West Administrative District, one can distinguish the Tushinsky Machine-Building Plant (this is where the space shuttle "Buran" was assembled) and MMPO im. Chernysheva (former plant "Red October"). Only memories of the former power remained: the territory of the Tushino machine-building plant was fragmented and divided by an army of tenants, from car services and wholesale depots to the large pharmaceutical company SIA International.

Workshop MPO them. Chernyshev is also a sad sight. Against the background of the general devastation, the parking lot in front of the "White House" - the management of the plant, occupied exclusively by representative foreign cars from 1.5 million rubles, looks contrasting.

The former state property, being corporatized, actually lost its owner, turning into a source of unjustified enrichment for “a narrow circle of limited persons”. Unfortunately, the development of production is not a strategic task for the management of the plant, which operates outdated assets and equipment, the resource of which is close to depletion. However, the plant is perhaps one of the few regularly operating enterprises. The secret of this is simple: the country's largest manufacturer of engines for MiGs is tightly "sits" on government orders, saving from impartial competition and ruin.

In addition to the giants of the industry - MMPO im. Chernyshev and the Tushinsky Machine-Building Plant, the Specialized Research Institute of Instrument Engineering as part of OJSC Atomenergoprom and the State Design Bureau Vympel (production of rocket complexes) are working at the aerospace complex. Unfortunately, the state of these enterprises cannot be called prosperous either: most of the areas and workshops are leased, in the remaining territories there is a situation close to ruin. The equipment is distributed among its component parts, the production cycle is far from innovation.

At the same time, factories remain afloat and consistently produce products, which, however, are not always able to withstand competition in the world market. But even 30 years ago, it was thanks to these "goods" that the mention of our country aroused awe among the representatives of the world community.

The largest food industry enterprise in the district is the Serebryany Bor Bakery and Confectionery Plant. In addition to it, this sector of the economy is represented by the Tushino meat processing plant, the Khlebozavod No. 24, and the Sabifat LLC (production of confectionery).

Among the construction enterprises in the district, production sites producing reinforced concrete products are in the lead. Among the most significant are the Reinforced Concrete Plant-17 in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, the Stroyexport Reinforced Concrete Plant in Shchukino, the Tushino Reinforced Concrete Plant, and the Stroyinzhbeton Concrete Plant in Tushino. In addition, there will be about a dozen smaller manufacturers of concrete products in the district, whose products are sold like hot cakes at city and Moscow region construction sites.

True, the working climate at these factories is not ideal. Despite the high demand for the products of construction plants, the totality of the wages of ordinary workers and working conditions can be characterized as outright exploitation. Therefore, the contingent of enterprises consists mainly of labor migrants, out of hopelessness forced to agree to enslaving working conditions and scanty monetary remuneration.

County crime as a role model

As noted above, SZAO is perhaps the most criminally calm district of Moscow. Of course, the situation is not ideal, but neither the district as a whole, nor any of its districts in particular, was honored to be mentioned in connection with criminal trouble. At the same time, the general Moscow trend persists: the outskirts of the city pose the greatest danger to the health and property of citizens than those close to the center.

First of all, we are talking about street crime, from hooliganism and extortion to more serious offenses associated with a threat to life and health. This is due to the fact that the adjacent districts were annexed to Moscow much later, and their main population is represented either by residents of the former towns and villages near Moscow, or by workers of industrial enterprises. Therefore, the streets of many remote areas often have an atmosphere of criminal workers' quarters.

Lower housing prices attract to these places additional flows of socially disadvantaged contingent, most often illegal labor migrants settling in "rubber" apartments. However, these tendencies are not so typical for the NWAD, which, however, should in no way cause a false sense of security: once you find yourself in one of the unfamiliar areas at night, you should be more vigilant.

If, nevertheless, try to determine the most criminogenic area of the North-Western District, then the choice will most likely stop at Strogino and Khoroshevo-Mnevniki. In the first, the indicators of street crime are the highest, in the second - the total number of burglaries, 35 of them were recorded in the district in the first half of 2012. that even this area looks quite safe when analyzing the general situation in the capital.

Since the SZAO is one of the most criminally calm districts in Moscow, all high-profile criminal cases associated with it are in the cut of economic crimes with a corruption bias. So, the most striking episode of the last decade, which affected the upper echelon of civil servants in the district, was the criminal case of “commodity raiding”.

In the Northwestern District, entrepreneurs Roman Chubatov and Boris Lisagor created an organized criminal community with the direct participation of the former prosecutor of the Tushino interdistrict prosecutor's office Boris Nersesyan, who is currently on the international wanted list, and the former prosecutor of the SZAO Valery Samoilov. In 2007, members of a criminal group stole property worth more than 500 million rubles from the warehouses of commercial firms engaged in the wholesale of computers and household appliances.

The fraudulent scheme was worked out meticulously: first, large wholesalers were looked for, into whose warehouses, under the guise of buyers, scammers entered. Taking possession of the forms and details of future victims, the criminals produced fake invoices and customs documents. Then, with the sanction of the Tushino interdistrict prosecutor, approved by the prosecutor of the North-West Administrative District, a search was carried out in the warehouses of the wholesale companies. During the search, the UBEP officers planted papers along with fake seals of certain firms, which were used to investigate criminal smuggling cases in the Tushino Prosecutor's Office.

Thus, when conducting a search at the warehouses of wholesale companies, trained operatives “found” compromising evidence, allowing to draw a conclusion about the involvement of these companies in smuggling. Therefore, all property was confiscated and taken out of the victims' warehouses. Subsequently, the arrested property was sold to Chubatov's company "Econ +" at a price 10-15 times lower than the real value. After that, the goods were sold throughout Russia at market prices.

The meticulousness of the owner of one of the affected companies made it possible to uncover the actions of the criminal community, forcing the operatives to enter in the protocol all the serial numbers of the seized property. After tracing the numbers of his goods that had surfaced in one of the trading companies and making a test purchase, the businessman filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office, after which the arrests of entrepreneurs and employees of the UEEP who participated in the commodity raiding followed.

In 2010, the jury found all the defendants, including the former prosecutor of the SZAO Samoilov, guilty under a number of articles, as a result of which the convicts received sentences in the form of real terms ranging from 7 to 13 years in prison.

Sights of the Northwestern District

The North-West Administrative District is famous for its abundance of natural parks, combining picturesque corners of nature and places of mass recreation of citizens. On the territory of the district there is a natural monument of regional significance "Serebryany Bor" and four natural and historical parks, the most famous of which is Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo.

The natural monument Serebryany Bor is an artificial island with an area of 328 hectares in the Serebryanoborskaya bend of the Moscow River, a place unique in its beauty and diversity of the natural world. It successfully combines forests and green spaces, the picturesque Bezdonnoye Lake (or “Bezdonka”) and the only reed swamp in Moscow.

This area is ancient, at the heart of it is a century-old pine forest, many trees of which are 100-150 years old, and some specimens are 200 years old. The origin of the name "Serebryany Bor" is not known exactly, but there are many legends explaining this beautiful epithet. According to one version, the name of the pine forest is associated with the name of the famous Moscow prince Serebryany. The second legend explains the history of its occurrence by the fact that in ancient times, silver was mined in the waters of Lake Bezdonnoye.

Along Lake Bezdonnoye, whose bottom really goes to the artesian depths in places, there is an ecological trail, where anyone can get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the Serebryanobor ecosystem, and observe the surrounding area from a bird's eye view, climbing an ornithological tower. In summer, the ecological trail organizes free excursions with visits to enclosures for herons, cranes, nutria, etc.

In addition to the aesthetic component, Serebryany Bor has a recreation area with two beaches suitable for swimming and provided with appropriate infrastructure, from sports and children's playgrounds and rental points to cafes and restaurants. Also on the territory of Serebryany Bor there are specially equipped picnic spots, where on the bank of the Bezdonka, admiring the wonderful landscapes, you can have a great rest with a cheerful company almost in the heart of the metropolis, but in the bosom of natural nature.

Another exquisite place in Serebryany Bor is Lemeshevskaya Polyana, where in the summer, under the famous Lemeshev oak tree, a pretentious audience, including leading artists of Moscow theaters, gathers for musical evenings. Unfortunately, the neighboring former estate of Sergei Lemeshev, where the great voice of Russia loved to rest, is in a state of ruin, and its restoration is not yet expected.

An equally significant natural site of the North-West Administrative District and a place of constant pilgrimage for the townspeople is the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo Natural and Historical Park, spread over an area of 220 hectares between Leningradskoe and Volokolamskoe highways. In addition to a wonderful resting place in a forested area, surrounded by 150-year-old coniferous and deciduous trees, this park attracts crowds thanks to springs with potable water located in the Khimki River valley on the northwestern outskirts of Pokrovsky-Streshnev. Therefore, people with plastic bottles and cans, found on the paths of the park, are not surprising to anyone.

Another river, Chernushka, flows in the southeastern part of the park, forming a beautiful cascade of six ponds in its floodplain, around which a picturesque meadow park is laid out. The park also offers ideal conditions for outdoor enthusiasts. On the territory of the park there are many bicycle paths, sports grounds, and an equipped beach area on the fourth pond of the Chernushka River, the water of which is the purest. Therefore, there are many cyclists, skaters, as well as beach lovers among vacationers.

Of course, the architectural highlight of Pokrovsky-Streshnev is the old manor of the same name, with a red brick fence with observation towers reminiscent of the Moscow Kremlin. Being an architectural monument and being, for some unknown reason, on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Defense, the estate is in a deplorable state, and it is good to admire it only from a considerable distance.

The restoration work started in the main building of the estate quickly faded away, and lately there have been persistent rumors that the object should be transferred to private ownership. Fortunately for the architectural heritage of Moscow, the recent change in the leadership of the Ministry of Defense prevented many frauds with real estate in this department, including, possibly, saved the old estate from destruction.

Due to its considerable distance from the center, the Northwestern District cannot boast of any significant cultural sites, except for a couple of openly amateur theaters and a number of local exhibitions. In fact, the real cultural life of the capital strongly gravitates towards the center, and lovers of bohemian entertainment in any case will have to get out deep into the Garden Ring for impressions.

Establishments of European and Italian cuisine are especially popular among the district restaurants. The most famous place of Mediterranean cuisine is the Mulino cafe-restaurant in the Kurkino area: a chef from Italy works here, who once cooked for the Pope. The prices here are very affordable (the average bill is 500-1500 rubles), and the quality of cooking and the freshness of the products evoke extremely positive emotions. At the same time, you will be served truly Italian dishes, and an evening spent at Mulino can easily become one of the best family memories.

Near Strogino metro and Mitino metro there are traditional English Temple pubs. They are distinguished by a cozy atmosphere in the English style, live music, more than 20 varieties of draft beer (average cost of 250 rubles), high-quality cuisine at affordable prices and a spacious non-smoking room. There is simply no better place to while away the evening in a pleasant company with a glass of excellent beer in SZAO.

Among the original and high-quality establishments of other national traditions, a number of oriental cuisine cafes can be distinguished. Firstly, this is the Chaikhana Lounge on Mitinskaya Street: Uzbek cuisine in the atmosphere of a real teahouse, from authentic fabrics to antique decor and characteristic interior items. Also an interesting place, from where it is simply impossible to leave with a feeling of slight hunger, is the Saray cafe near the Mitino metro station. Here you can taste rich and mouth-watering Tatar cuisine at very affordable prices. In addition, the café's atmosphere resembles a luxurious oriental palace, from which one does not want to leave.

For lovers of modern culinary traditions, the Goodman restaurant near the Shchukinskaya metro station will be a great discovery. A distinctive feature of this institution is the American cuisine menu, where, in addition to all kinds of burgers and an excellent collection of wine, you will be served a juicy steak in strict accordance with all traditions.

Also in the Shchukino area, on Marshal Biryuzov Street, there is a restaurant-club for Latin American and Spanish cuisine "El Inka". Every Friday and Saturday nights, real madness is happening here in the best traditions of the Brazilian carnival. In addition to wonderful Mexican, Spanish and other national dishes from the restaurant's menu, only the best Latin performers and incendiary show programs that will leave no one indifferent are waiting for you.

In Khoroshevo-Mneniki there is one more specific institution of the North-Western District: a biker club with a restaurant "Sexton". It is located in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain near st. Nizhniye Mnevniki. Located in an open area and decorated with bizarre structures welded from various parts, metal pipes and chains, the institution attracts not only bikers, but also many supporters to spend time outside the box in a noisy informal company.

The North-Western Administrative District of Moscow (SZAO) is one of the twelve districts of the capital.
It was formed in 1991 from two districts of the city of Moscow - Tushinsky and Khoroshevsky, for the administrative management of the corresponding territory.

The area of the district is 93.281 sq. Km.
The total number of residents of the North-Western Administrative District of the city of Moscow, according to the Mosgorstat data as of 01.01.2013, is 959,548 people. In 2012, the population of the district has grown by almost ten thousand people.

Management of the Okrug's life is carried out by the Prefecture of the North-West Administrative District and the corresponding territorial subdivisions of the executive authorities of the city of Moscow.

The district includes 8 districts:

County coat of arms

  • Silver wings (flight) and a golden propeller symbolize the Tushino airfield and aviation industry enterprises located in the district.
  • The blue field of the shield symbolizes the water resources of the district: the Moscow River, the Moscow Canal, the Skhodnya River, the Khimki Reservoir.
  • The silver pine in the central green shield symbolizes the corners of wildlife carefully preserved in the district: Serebryany Bor, Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo forest park, and the natural monument Skhodnenskaya chalice.
  • Swans symbolize the air and water elements, and also remind of the Swan spring in the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo region.
  • The towers of the sluices of the Moscow Canal symbolize the beginning of this grandiose hydraulic engineering structure in the district.

The North-Western Administrative District is one of the most attractive and ecologically clean districts. It is rightfully called the "lungs of the capital". 46.4% of the territory of the Okrug is occupied by objects of the natural complex. In addition, it is surrounded by the waters of the Khimki Reservoir, the Moskva River and the Moscow Canal.

History and culture

The North-Western Administrative District is rich in the greatest monuments of history and culture of the city and country. The Trinity churches in Khoroshevo (end of the 16th century) and in Trinity-Lykovo (end of the 17th century) - the temples of the old boyar estates of the Godunovs and Naryshkins, are valuable monuments of ancient Russian architecture. A magnificent mansion in Bratsevo, created by the outstanding Moscow architect A.N. Voronikhin, the mysterious Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo estate, built at the end of the 18th century.

The history of the village of Kurkino has more than 5 centuries. In 1672, a stone church of the Icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, which has survived to this day, was created here. In 1990, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II restored and consecrated the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Tushino, which was erected back in 1889 according to the project of the famous architect Gruzinsky.

In the Mitino area there is the Church of the Nativity of Christ, built before 1904. The temple was closed for a long time, but today it operates and even has a church Sunday school. This is only part of the rich architectural and cultural heritage of the North-West of Moscow.

No other district of the city organizes and holds so many different cultural and sports and recreational events and holidays. The Severnoye Tushino Park of Culture and Leisure, harmoniously located on the bank of the Khimki reservoir, gathers thousands of guests and residents of the city to its orchards and recreation and entertainment areas. Such places as the airfield of the Tushinsky airfield, the beautiful forest park in Pokrovsky-Streshnevo and, of course, the magnificent and well-known Serebryany Bor, which is an island surrounded by the Moskva River with a memorial Lemeshevskaya recreation area, are also popular.

The sights of the North-Western Administrative District are also a large number of cultural institutions that open their doors to residents of the city. The main ones are the Phoenix club, the Rodina military-patriotic club and many others that are no less popular with the townspeople.
