For most owners, the dacha seems to be a place to relax. However, in order to arrange the site properly, you need to spend enough large sums... In this regard, some summer residents are looking for opportunities to save money, which is why they are trying to create crafts from polyurethane foam that look no less aesthetically pleasing than figurines made of plastic, metal and wood. And today this option continues to compete with another equally common method - creating crafts from plastic bottles.

Every person who does not have special skills and knowledge is able to make his personal plot more attractive. The main thing is to have abstract thinking, be patient and prepare minimal set instruments... All this will be enough for funny gnomes, frogs, sheep and Christmas trees to appear on the backyard territory, for the creation of which it will be necessary to available materials.

Manufacturing technology

The first question that must be resolved by the summer resident is the preparation of materials and tools, without which it will be impossible to make crafts from polyurethane foam. Moreover, it is not worth neglecting any element of the list, since this will subsequently affect the quality of the work and the time that they will require.

To make the frame of the product, you can use plastic bottles pre-filled with sand, boards, metal objects and thick wire. In some cases, you can use ordinary brick to create the basis for the future mushroom on your site.

  • polyurethane foam;
  • gun for polyurethane foam;
  • gun cleaner.

It is a good idea to use sculpture for growing flowers in it... But for this in its center you will have to install a certain container, like a bucket, a tin can or the aforementioned plastic bottle.

  • varnish, paint and brushes for them;
  • clerical or other knife;
  • several pairs of gloves. They must be present with you, as this will help protect your hands from polyurethane foam, which quickly and firmly sticks to your hands.

If we take a closer look at the process of making garden figures from polyurethane foam, then two stages can be distinguished in it, which are carried out in sequence.

  • work begins with covering the base with a layer of foam, after which they wait for a pause, which is necessary for the material to harden;
  • then we apply the next layer of foam and so on until we achieve the required shape of the product.

When the desired result is achieved, we take an ordinary clerical knife and use it to cut off the excess protrusions. In the process of such work, we give the sculpture the desired outline, after which we can proceed to painting it. To complete all the work, you will have to spend from 1 hour to several days. The specific period is determined by the dimensions of the product and the thickness of the applied layer.

It is recommended to make garden figures from polyurethane foam in a separate dry room which must be clean and have limited access for children. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of time and effort to remove polyurethane foam from surfaces, and for this you need gasoline or acetone.

Examples of manufacturing with instructions

Further examples will be considered various figures for a garden from polyurethane foam, which can be made without even having experience in this matter. But in order to achieve the desired result, it is necessary to perform all operations in the exact sequence. A couple of hours will pass, and you will feel like a real creator, in whose hands ordinary polyurethane foam turns into real masterpieces of art.

Christmas tree

A master class on making a Christmas tree from polyurethane foam is quite simple and straightforward. Prerequisite prepare twigs to be attached to iron pipe... As a retainer, you can use tape or wire.

Then, using a spray gun, the preform is moistened, which will improve the adhesion properties of the foam when it is applied to the substrate.

After that, we start processing the structure with polyurethane foam, in this case you can completely rely on your imagination.

Having at hand such affordable things as stick trimmings, twigs, foam and fishing line, it will not be difficult for you to do it yourself christmas tree... And to give a natural look, the tree can be painted with green acrylic paint.

Ball

If you are afraid to take up complex garden figures from polyurethane foam, then you can choose the simplest product, which is a ball. For those who have no experience in making figures from polyurethane foam with their own hands for decorating a garden, it is recommended to take the first steps with the creation of this particular figure. And, having filled your hand, you can try to create more complex decorations and sculptures.

The master class itself includes the following actions:

  • first we need a paint can, into which we need to pour sand;
  • then we take polyurethane foam and cover our workpiece in layers;
  • when the product acquires the required dimensions, and initial form will change to spherical, take a knife and cut off the excess parts;
  • we process our ball with varnish;
  • we are completing the work on making the balloon by coloring, for which you can use the color material that you like best.

Ram and lamb

We begin a master class on making this garden figure from polyurethane foam with our own hands by creating a frame. To do this, we need several plastic bottles that need to be connected to each other. with scotch tape... As a result, the craft should resemble something like the "skeleton" of an animal. To give our figure more stability, the lower limbs can be filled with sand.

After that, you can start processing the craft with foam. To avoid waste of material, it is recommended to wrap the frame with isolon or other polymer material... After covering the figure with the first layer of polyurethane foam, it should already be clear to you what you should get after completing this work.

To create the ears, we will use pieces of leather. Also, for their manufacture, you can use plastic bottles, which first have to be heated and bent.

To make a face, you will have to use a knife, forming the necessary features with it.

For our animals to look beautiful, they need varnish.

Goat

To make the frame, you will need thick wire, which must be wrapped around several plastic bottles.

To make a leg frame, it is recommended to use metal pipes... They are welded to the plinth and then fixed to the ground or simply bolted. Make sure that the base of the figure is firmly fixed, otherwise it will fall to the ground from wind or rain.

Then the craft is necessary cover with 1-2 layers of polyurethane foam.

To make horns and a tail, we take wooden shelves or we use plastic cuts and attach them to the base.

Having finished applying the last layer, it is necessary to remove excess parts, after which we wrap the product with a serpentine or fishing line.

We finish the work by painting, but first you need to apply a layer of primer. When choosing a color, you can completely rely on your own preferences, because this is your creation and here you can show all your imagination.

We use buttons for making eyes.

Now our goat is ready and can be installed wherever you see fit - next to a pond, in a meadow, surrounded by other design elements.

Keep in mind that the process of making this craft will take you 1-2 weeks as you will have to wait for each layer of foam to harden. Thus, using orphaned pipes, plastic bottles, pieces of wire and other debris and a couple of cans of polyurethane foam, you can easily create beautiful decorative elements for your summer cottage.

Christmas crafts

If you only have a wire and a can of polyurethane foam at your disposal, then you are only able to make wonderful New Year's decorations for the garden with their help. These materials will be enough to make a variety of ornaments, Christmas tree decorations, as well as crafts of varying degrees of complexity.

It is a good idea to create a snowflake. For it, you need to take a wire of a certain thickness so that you can bend it easily. It will serve as material for creating the frame of the future snowflake. We begin to cover it with 1-2 layers of foam. Immediately need correct the shape, giving it an even and smooth surface, and this must be done before the foam hardens. If some part of the figure turned out incorrectly, then at any time you can add a small amount of price and remove the excess parts with a clerical knife.

You will have even less difficulties when making a Christmas tree ball. The master class on the implementation of this idea will be as follows. For him, you need to take a tennis ball and apply a layer of foam. When the material hardens, paint the craft, adding bright and positive colors to create a New Year's mood.

You can offer a simpler version of making a Christmas tree. It will require cardboard or izolon, which is wound on a rigid base, giving it the shape of a cone. You can easily apply a couple of layers of polyurethane foam. Next, it remains to give the craft flat surface, color and find a suitable place for the tree.

Conclusion

DIY garden figures from polyurethane foam are easy enough to make, for this you need a minimum of improvised materials. Armed with a spray can of polyurethane foam, you can make almost any figure that will become a real decoration of your garden.

With the help of a plastic bottle and polyurethane foam, you can independently make an original garden figure.

How to make a stork from polyurethane foam?

You will need:

  • plastic eggplant from under the water;
  • thick wire;
  • Styrofoam;
  • stationery tape;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • wood chips;
  • electrodes (for poultry legs);
  • sharp knife;
  • poultry feathers;
  • paint and varnish for facade work.

A stork made of polyurethane foam with your own hands will become the highlight of your garden. The first step is to build a frame, which will subsequently be covered with polyurethane foam. The basis of the frame is a 5 liter plastic water bottle. On the side of the bottom, the bird's head is located, the neck serves as a tail.

The stork's neck is made of thick wire: a small piece of polystyrene is applied to the bottle, pierced with a wire at an angle so that the wire rests against the wall of the eggplant. To make the bird's head, take a small piece of rounded styrofoam and put it on the end of the wire. The nose is made from wood chips or a small piece of wire.

The legs of a bird are made from electrodes that are out of order; you can also use for this metal fittings... At the junction of the legs with the body, pieces of foam are placed, since at the top of the stork's legs they have a thickening. The stork will be inserted into the ground with electrodes, so the figure does not need additional weighting, but if you wish, you can fill the eggplant with sand.

For the wings, flat pieces of polystyrene in the form of a semicircle are suitable - they are attached with wire to the sides of the eggplant. In order to give the frame the necessary strength, it is wrapped with tape. Work begins from the head, gradually moving to the base of the bird's legs. There is no need to wrap the electrodes with tape.

For the priming of the figure, PVA glue is used.

After all the parts are fastened, they begin to shape with the help of polyurethane foam. The foam is squeezed out in small zigzags or stripes, while you do not need to try to accurately repeat the contours of the bird, since everything unnecessary will then be cut off. Important: foam is laid thin layers with obligatory intermediate drying. The construction material dries quickly enough, so the next layer can be applied after 15-30 minutes.

After the foam hardens, they begin to form the sculpture: using sharp knife cut off all unnecessary. It remains only to paint the stork. In order to reduce paint consumption, it is necessary to apply a primer that forms protective film and will prevent the porous foam from absorbing the paint. As a primer, you can use PVA glue diluted with water in a 1: 2 ratio. The neck and body of the bird are painted in White color, the tips of the wings and tail are in black, the nose and legs are covered with red paint. The result is fixed with any facade varnish. At the end of the work, a bunch of real goose, duck or rooster feathers is inserted into the tail hole (the neck of the bottle). A stork figurine is placed on a flower bed, with the electrodes (legs) buried in the ground.

How to make a donkey from polyurethane foam?

You will need:

  • an eggplant from under water, 10 liters;
  • can;
  • wire;
  • sharp knife;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • glue gun or double-sided tape;
  • wooden boards (for legs);
  • facade putty;
  • primer;
  • facade paint and varnish.

Polyurethane foam figures can be small or large, it all depends on your imagination and available materials. To make a donkey, you need a 10 liter plastic water bottle. A tin can is perfect for the head, and if there is no one on the farm, then you can use a 5 liter cropped eggplant. The legs of a donkey are made of wooden planks, the tail is made of wire or glazing bead. The head and legs are glued with glue gun or double-sided tape, the tail is inserted under slight angle into a pre-made hole.

In order to make the figure heavier, it is necessary to fill the eggplant with dry sand - it is better to do this after the glue dries.

In the manufacture of garden figures, a special gun for polyurethane foam is used.

Layers of polyurethane foam are applied to the prepared frame. It is necessary to let the previous layer dry for 15-20 minutes, only after that the next layer of foam is applied.

Donkey ears are made of wire, which is bent in the form of a semicircle. Then the wire frame is wrapped with tape or paper, inserted into the donkey's head, and then applied to the ears with polyurethane foam. Next, the foam is cut with a knife in such a way as to give the figure the desired shape.

To make the sculpture look believable, it is necessary to apply on top of the polyurethane foam facade putty, having previously primed the product. The primer improves the adhesion of materials, so this process should not be ignored. Small details are worked out on the raw putty: the nostrils are cut out, the eyes of the animal are made. After drying, the putty is passed over the surface sandpaper with fine grain. The donkey figurine is painted with acrylic facade paint, and then covered with waterproof varnish.

Foam mushrooms

You will need:

  • plastic bottle;
  • Styrofoam;
  • wire;
  • stationery knife;
  • primer;
  • facade putty;
  • acrylic facade paint and varnish.

Even a child can make mushrooms from polyurethane foam, for this you do not need to have the talent of a sculptor or artist. You will need a plastic bottle to make a mushroom leg. To give the figure stability, the bottle is filled with pebbles or dry sand. The foam is applied to the bottle in such a way that the thickening characteristic of the mushroom is obtained at the bottom. Spread the foam in thin layers with intermediate drying.

To make a mushroom cap, they take polystyrene, cut out a circle from it, while you do not need to try to repeat the exact shape, since in nature there are no mushrooms with perfectly round caps. Foam is applied to the foam in such a way that a cone is gradually formed. A strong wire is inserted into the mushroom leg, a cap is placed on it, the junction of the parts can be smeared with glue. Next, apply the last layer of foam, allow it to harden, and then cut off all excess.

Polyurethane foam is a porous material that easily absorbs moisture, so the product must be primed. If this is not done, then the moisture from the putty will go into foam, which will make finishing material drier and may subsequently lead to surface cracking. If the farm does not have a primer, then it can be replaced with gelatin. Gelatin is soaked in cold water(15 g per 100 ml), let it swell, and then melt in a water bath. Melted gelatin is diluted warm water... This solution is used to process the figure 2-3 times with intermediate drying.

Next, a facade putty is applied to the mushroom (can be replaced with plaster) and left to dry completely. The surface is sanded first with medium-grain sandpaper, then fine-grained paper is used. The product is primed again - if this is not done, then the paint consumption will double. The mushroom cap is painted in Brown color, white with the addition of ocher is used for the leg. The work is covered with facade or yacht varnish in 2-3 layers.

When working with foam, use products individual protection... It is not advised to carry out work when sub-zero temperature air.

Before each use of the polyurethane foam, shake the can well. During operation, keep the cap downward so that gas does not escape from it and all the foam can be used. Do not apply many layers at once, as the uncured one will fall off. Do everything gradually, apply the next layer at least 10-15 minutes after the previous one. For ease of application, use a special gun.

The appearance of a polyurethane foam figure directly depends on the type of frame. First, you should find a picture of the figure or make a sketch to take into account all the nuances and the finished product looked like a wooden or plaster sculpture.

Use a marker to mark where your snail shell begins and ends, and make curls. When the foam is completely dry, sand the product. It remains to decorate the snail and the garden craft is ready.

Materials:
- an old saucepan;
- iron can:
- oil or acrylic paint;
- foam cylinder;
- wire;
- beads.

1. Separately, foam a saucepan and jar and let dry.
2. The jar is the head, and the pot is the body of the frog. Secure these parts with wire and secure with foam.

from polyurethane foam can also be used to decorate rooms or building facades.

Do you want to ennoble your country cottage area or an area near a private house, but tired of the consumer goods that are offered in the store? Or do you want to decorate the playground? Then think about whether to do everything yourself with the help of ... polyurethane foam.

In fact, the choice of polyurethane foam as a material for sculpture is unusual only at first glance, because if we take into account its pliability and softness, it becomes quite clear that crafts made from this material are gradually gaining popularity.

Necessary materials

What do you need to create foam sculptures and where to start?

In fact, the list of materials is short:

  • plastic bottles;
  • cans with polyurethane foam;
  • dye;

Plastic bottles will be needed as a frame for the future figure and their volume directly depends on the size of the sculpture. The amount of foam is also calculated from the size of the planned craft. It should be noted that the volume of foam at the outlet of the cylinder is from 50 to 70 liters. Usually there are markings on the cylinders indicating the amount of foam coming out. The choice of paint directly depends on you, it can be both oil and in spray cans or any other. It should be noted, however, that if you intend to use crafts outdoors in the open air, you should choose a paint that is resistant to natural influences.

To make a sheep you will need next quantity materials:

  • plastic bottles 4 pcs, 2 l each;
  • isolone (this is special backing under linoleum, can be purchased at any hardware store);
  • 5 cylinders of polyurethane foam, 70 l each;
  • adhesive tape or, in other words, scotch tape;
  • paint, varnish;

To begin with, we make a frame from plastic bottles. It doesn't have to be perfect, just well made so as not to crumble.

Then you should cut the isolon into narrow strips 2-3 cm wide

The next step is to wind the frame with strips of isolon to give it more volume. We fix the strips of isolon with tape so that they do not unwind.

After the frame is wrapped with isolon, you can attach a sheep's tail made of ordinary wire.

After that, you can apply the polyurethane foam to the frame. The foam is applied in layers. Apply each new layer only after the previous one has dried; for quick drying, you can spray with water. The fact is that water, when it comes into contact with the foam, triggers a reaction, which accelerates the freezing of the foam.

The foam should be applied as evenly as possible so that you don't have to tweak the flaws.

After the shape of our sheep is shaped with the help of the foam, and the foam has finally hardened, you can proceed to the details. For a start, you can glue the ears.

Then you can touch up the sheep's face with a clerical knife, and then decorate it.

It remains to paint the hooves, draw the eyes, and the sculpture is ready.

It should be noted that foam is a fairly toxic material and should only be handled in well-ventilated areas. It is also quite sticky, and therefore you should stock up on acetone or a special solvent for polyurethane foam and patience.

In general, foam is a fertile material, and almost any figure can be made from it, for which there is enough imagination, as well as patience and time. Starting from the simplest and smallest and ending with the size of human growth.

How to make ironing board

As a blank, I again applied plastic bottle, which I foamed from all sides, and to give it stability, I inserted this foamed blank into plastic container(you can in old saucepan). I fixed this propeneted blank with polyurethane foam. Then the most interesting thing begins, you need to give the foam an approximate figure. As a sample, I buy a small toy or a figurine in the store, additionally I download pictures from the Internet.

Be sure to allow some drying after each layer. So gradually, layer by layer, a figure is created. If you missed somewhere, you can always cut, cut off the excess with a sharp clerical knife. If it still does not work out somewhere, this applies to both large and small parts… Spray the place (from a sprayer, for example) where we want to apply foam, then add a small layer (about 4-5 cm), after a minute, sprinkle fresh foam again with water. Now the moment - the main thing is not to miss a moment so that the foam does not have time to dry, and we form wet hands conceived bend, shape, etc. (I do this without gloves). So you can act layer by layer, achieving the desired shape. When the figure acquires its shape, we cut off all unnecessary bumps with a knife, the pits (air holes) can be foamed again. Small airs, there is no need to foaming, then everything will be putty with tile glue.

How to make paws, tail…. I take the wire, give it a bend, and also apply it by building up layer by layer, giving it time to dry. Hare ears, I made from an aluminum tape 7 cm wide, which I cut across (like a Christmas tree), set a bend, and gradually foamed it.
