For home art, epoxy is most often used. But in addition to making jewelry and souvenirs from it, this material is used to create polymer floors with a fashionable 3D effect. Thanks to this, the lower part of the room resembles the ocean with its underwater inhabitants, flowering fields and everything that you can wish for.

The self-leveling floor is multi-level, one of the layers is a special canvas on which a drawing is applied using the technique of color printing. What plot is captured there, this will be on self-leveling floors... Their surface is made of transparent resin, so the image on the canvas is clearly visible.

Products made of epoxy resin are durable, water and sun resistant. One of the most popular Magic Crystal-3D epoxy resins. It is used to create jewelry, decorative items, for pouring 3D and glossy coatings.

Epoxy CR 100 epoxy resin is also used to create polymer floors, which is characterized by anti-static, wear resistance, good chemical resistance.

Epoxy is sold with a solvent. Usually these two substances are mixed in a 2: 1 ratio just before use.

The second type of resin is acrylic. It is also used to create self-leveling floors, souvenirs. Acrylic resin is used to make bathtubs, waterfalls and artificial reservoirs, molds for casting products. This material is used to make fake diamond, including artificial marble.

Perhaps you have heard about transparent designer sinks, bathtubs. This type of resin is used for them.

Also, to create plumbing products, a transparent polyester resin... But this type of polymer is most often used in industrial production, not at home. Transparent polymer resin is used in the automotive industry, the shipbuilding industry, and in auto-tuning. Fiberglass, known to almost everyone, is made from polymer resins.

Epoxy is the most popular for home art, as it costs less than acrylic. But for the production of small items of jewelry, it is better to take acrylic, which does not collect air bubbles, like epoxy. However, there are subtleties that will help prevent this trouble when working with cheaper material. You will soon find out about them.

How to make an epoxy countertop?

If you need to update an old one, then take on arms interesting idea... To implement it, you will need:
  • coins;
  • epoxy resin with a thickener;
  • pliers;
  • ticks;
  • varnish on water based;
  • autogen;
  • wooden slats;
  • glue.
If you decorate wooden surface, wash it, let dry, prime and paint. If you have old countertop coated, you need to remove it, then paint it.

The hardest part is bending coins, cutting them. Pliers and pliers will help you, as well as male power... But if some of this is not there, do not make the side ends on the countertop, place the coins only on top, it will still turn out beautifully.

The coins will need to be washed. There are several ways to do this:

  1. Pour Cola drink into a saucepan, lower coins, put on fire. The solution will boil and clear your money. You can just pour the coins with this drink, do not heat, but leave overnight. They will be clean by morning.
  2. Place a pot of coins and water on a fire. When the liquid boils, add a little vinegar and baking soda. The solution will foam, so add enough water to fill the pot no more than halfway.
  3. Take advantage of special means for cleansing, which is called Tarn-X. It is diluted in water according to the instructions, not in food utensils, coins are immersed there. The container must be carefully twisted over the sink in order to evenly moisten the money and thus wash it.
After using any of these methods, rinse the coins well in running water and lay them to dry on towels. But you can also buy new coins from the bank.
  1. Here's how to make the countertop itself. Spread the coins on its surface, after which you need to fill them with a mixture of epoxy resin with a thickener. But before that, you need to prepare.
  2. If you don't want to mess around for a long time, put cellophane under the surface to be treated, and you can pour the resin. But after mixing with the thickener, it is necessary to leave the mass for a while so that it hardens a little, does not become too liquid.
  3. In any case, it will drip down a little, so in order to save the solution, you need to periodically collect these drops with a spatula, apply where there is little resin. But even if this is not done, the wiped resin will be on cellophane, which you just need to throw out at the end of the work.
  4. Can first be made from wooden slats or pieces of edging for the countertop, then place coins, fill with epoxy.
  5. Do not be disappointed if you see on the surface to be created air bubbles. We drive them out with the flame of an autogen.
  6. Now you need to let the product dry completely, it will take a couple of days. At this time, the main thing is that no one touches the surface, that dust and animal hair do not settle.
  7. After the resin has completely dried, cover the surface with a water-based varnish, after it dries, the new product is ready for use.

If you are interested in this process and there is a whole piggy bank of coins, or maybe metal money of the old denomination remains, then make a self-leveling floor, for example, in the bathroom or in the kitchen.

Epoxy resin jewelry: bracelet and brooch

See how to make a stylish bracelet out of this material.

For him, take:
  • a set consisting of epoxy resin with a thickener;
  • silicone mold for the bracelet;
  • plastic cup;
  • a toothpick;
  • stick (you can from ice cream);
  • scissors;
  • dried flowers;
  • disposable syringes.

Pour 2 parts resin and one thickener into a glass.

Use disposable syringes to measure the exact amount of thickener and epoxy. To form as few air bubbles as possible, mix these formulations slowly.

If there are still air bubbles, let the mixture stand for a while so that they disappear. But don't thicken it too much.

Pour the gooey mixture into the bracelet mold. Put dried flowers cut with scissors there, helping yourself with a toothpick. With them, you can pierce air bubbles so that it comes out.

Leave the bracelet to harden for a day, then carefully remove it from the mold and try on a new fashion accessory.

Instead of dried flowers, you can decorate the bracelet with buttons of a beautiful color.

  4. Place the container in warm place so that the solution thickens a little and does not drain from the workpieces when pouring. Cover them with a small layer, spread it over the surface with a toothpick.
  5. We wait until the parts are dry, then cover them with epoxy mixture from the back side. We are also waiting for this layer to dry, after which we dilute the third portion of the solution, set it aside so that it thickens well, but is plastic. This will make it easy to glue the wings to the body, which you will do. At the same time, give the wings the desired position.
  6. Using the remaining solution, attach a metal mechanism to the back of the brooch. Remove the jewelry by covering it with dust so that the solution is completely dry.

How to make a pendant: 2 workshops

See what other wonderful resin jewelry you can make with your own hands.

You will need:
  • epoxy resin with hardener;
  • metal form;
  • disposable cups and spoons;
  • small scissors;
  • mandarin;
  • stained glass paint;
  • lacquer for fixing Fimo Vernis brillante;
  • stained glass paint;
  • sandpaper;
  • attachment for a brooch;
  • Alcor silicone compound.

Peel the tangerine. Take the most beautiful slice, carefully, clinging to the skin with scissors, remove it from one side. On the other hand, the pin will subsequently be attached, not to the slice, but to the workpiece from it.

Arrange 2 slices in this way, put them in a mold. Knead the silicone compound, pour it into the prepared container. Let the silicone cure.

Now you can remove the slices from the container, discard them, and rinse the form itself in cold water. If the edges of the grooves are uneven, trim them with scissors.

After a day, the silicone will completely solidify, then you can pour the prepared epoxy solution into the mold. When the workpiece is dry, sand it a little with fine sandpaper or an engraver. Attach a brooch clasp to the back of the blank, paint the mandarin orange stained glass paint... Apply 1 coat first, then the second. After they dry, go over the surface with varnish.

These are wonderful tangerine shaped epoxy resin decorations that can be made with diligence.

If you want to know how to make a pendant round shape then check out another master class. For it you will need:
  • dried flowers;
  • round molds;
  • epoxy resin;
  • thickener;
  • disposable plastic cups;
  • tweezers;
  • scissors;
  • sandpaper;
  • polishing paste;
  • felt nozzle;
  • accessories for a pendant.

If you do not have round molds, then take a plastic ball. It needs to be cut in half, greased inside with Vaseline. After pouring the resin, seal the cut with plasticine so that it does not flow out.

In the absence of purchased dried flowers, make them yourself from the presented bouquet. Dry voluminous flowers, such as roses, by tying them by the stems, dropping them down in buds. If you want to dry individual petals, then place them between the pages old book... Fragile voluminous flowers are dried in a container into which semolina is poured.

It is important to dry these blanks well, since if the process is not performed well, the flower or part of it will eventually rot while in the pendant. In order for the plant to retain its color as long as possible, take an epoxy resin that protects from ultraviolet radiation.

Assemble a mini-bouquet by gluing flowers, petals, leaves together using epoxy resin mixed with a thickener.

When it hardens, carefully place this small bouquet in round molds or half a plastic ball. A freshly prepared epoxy mixture should be left for 2–3 minutes so that air can escape and its bubbles do not spoil the appearance of the product. Now you can pour the resin into the mold, wait until it thickens.

Until such a ball is obtained, it will not be quite even in shape. To fix this, first go over the surface with a coarse grain, then a fine grain. It is better to do this in water so that there is no dust, and the process goes faster.

The next step is polishing. For this, a plastic or headlight polish purchased from a motorist store works well. Apply it to the felt nozzle, walk from all sides over the workpiece.

Here's how to make the pendant next. To attach the chain to the ball, take the cap and pin.

Put the pin on the hat, use round-nose pliers to fold it into a loop. Glue this blank to the pendant with epoxy.

All that remains is to attach the chain and wear such an unusual pendant with pleasure.

And now we suggest that you sit comfortably in an armchair, watch a cognitive plot on how to make a ring out of wood and epoxy resin.

These two materials are also the main characters. next video... From it you will learn how to make a table using a similar technique.

A material such as plexiglass is widespread and used in many areas.
human activities. It is used in roofing glazing of modern greenhouses, and the material is also in great demand in industrial and domestic glazing, different kinds protective fence also made using this durable material, production is also not complete without durable acrylic.

In stores you can find huge selection products made of plexiglass, these are:

  • bathroom accessories;
  • shower cabins;
  • kitchen aprons;
  • all kinds of shelves;
  • advertising posters;
  • boxes;
  • awnings, canopies;
  • tableware;
  • stained-glass windows and various other elements.

Products made of this durable transparent material are in demand in offices, in advertising, trade, these are price holders, stands for various products, holders for menus, stands for business cards, stands for Cell phones, holders for jewelry and cosmetic products.

It is convenient to make products made of acrylic and plexiglass, because it is quite simple to process the material, there is no need to use special tools... It is thanks to these characteristics that plexiglass is actively used in the manufacture of various decorative elements, both on an industrial scale and by hand.

DIY acrylic products

If you wish, you can independently, without special equipment, make a plexiglass product at home. Making such an item will require you to have this very acrylic, you may also need a cutter or jigsaw for cutting, prepare a special glue based on acrylic chips for gluing. If you are not going to work with a new plexiglass element, then you may need to perform a stage of polishing, grinding, in order to remove existing damage, scratches from the surface of the material.

Plexiglass phone stand

A product such as a phone stand can be made at home. You can come up with custom design, for example, by adding a round or other geometric element. Below we will consider what is required to make such a stand, and we will directly describe the manufacturing process.

You will need:

  • wire, it must be nichrome, 0.5-1mm thick, length within 30-50cm;
  • 12V power supply;
  • a flat board, a furniture board is suitable;
  • plexiglass.

The peculiarity of the selected material lies in the fact that products from plexiglass and acrylic can be made with a smooth bend. In order to make a homemade cutter, you need to fix the prepared wire along the flat end of the board. On the one hand, you can hook it onto the self-tapping screw, on the other hand, it is worth providing a "tensioner", this is necessary in order to exclude the possibility of the wire sagging when it is heated. As a "tensioner", you can use the spring available in the "farm".

When the thread is fixed, we connect it to a power source, it is better if it will be with the ability to adjust the power. At this stage, you already have a product for bending plexiglass.

Now you need to prepare the workpiece of the desired size. Process its ends with sandpaper, this will be the first stage. In order to get a really neat edge, use GOI paste and a soft piece of matter at the final stage of processing. After processing the ends, your workpiece should have neat edges, without grooves and snags.

Next, you need to carefully bend the future stand. It is necessary to place the part on the edge of the bending board, the fold line should be located directly above the tensioned wire. Turn on heating element and wait about five minutes. When the workpiece is warmed up, start bending.

Important!!! You need to bend the workpiece in the opposite direction from the heater.

Performing each new fold, give the workpiece time to cool down, so to speak, fix the action. As a result of such simple manipulations, you can independently make your own acrylic phone holder with your own design.

All these properties determine the quality and aesthetics of jewelry. It is important that the resin completely imitates glass or transparent ice, amazing compositions from any natural materials... How to choose an epoxy resin? The material is safe, it is a transparent liquid, contains chemical resins and hardeners. In the process of mixing these ingredients, polymerization and solidification occurs.

If you learn correct work with epoxy resin, you can create magical 3D effects, protect any craft from dust, scratches, moisture. As a rule, for creativity, manufacturers prepare complex kits, which directly include a chemical product, gloves, a measuring cup for easy mixing, a stick for mixing the substance. How to work with epoxy

5 main secrets

Many craftswomen were able to turn their favorite hobby into a successful home business, because beautiful and original jewelry is at its peak today.

Wood and epoxy decorations
DIY epoxy studs
Dandelion pendant on a chain

To learn this art, experienced needlewomen have several secrets:

  • Pouring forms. The molds, which the craftsmen call molds, must be made of high quality platinum silicone. This type of molds makes it possible to control the pouring at any stage, as well as to conveniently remove the product after solidification. After work, be sure to rinse the molds with warm soapy water.
  • Temperature conditions. You should be aware that the polymerization process is closely related to the release of heat. During a chemical reaction, the resin can be heated up to high temperature, even up to 60 degrees. Please note that the mold for pouring blanks must be heat-resistant.
  • The desired consistency. Before the polymerization step, the resin retains the properties of a viscous liquid. If dry filler is used, such as cork, wood cuts or chips, it goes down. This should be taken into account when distributing the composition.
  • Transparency. The main difficulty faced by beginners and experienced craftsmen, - air bubbles.

To make the surface and structure of the product as transparent as possible, you can let the mixture settle a little, and then heat it up. This will float up the bubbles and can then be carefully removed.

  • Use of decor. In this matter, everything is limited only by the imagination of the needlewomen. Small cones, leaves and flowers, dried flowers, glitters, rhinestones, beads are the most popular decor for making beautiful jewelry made of epoxy resin. Using leaves and flowers, it is better to dry them first. The classic way- like in school, between the pages of a book.

You should not skimp on accessories for your jewelry, the stingy, as they say, pays twice! Agree, it is very important what the so hard-fledged compositions are framed in inside a transparent drop.

The work algorithm is as follows:

  • Let's prepare an epoxy compound. Strictly according to the instructions, knead all the ingredients, and then leave the resin to set the desired viscosity, for about 2-3 hours. Do not be alarmed, initially a lot of air bubbles collect in the resin. After the mass has settled, they will gradually disappear.
  • Draw several stencils on a sheet of paper. You can make them in any shape, oval, round or even irregular, so the product looks more interesting.
  • While the mixture is thickening, prepare the surface. This stage is very important, because every small speck of dust will violate the delicate aesthetics of the transparent jewelry. The surface should be perfectly flat, you can cover it with oilcloth or cling film on top.
  • We lay out our stencils on an oilcloth, and cover them on top with ordinary office files. We begin to pour the resin directly onto the file, spreading it over the stencil, and straightening the edges with a stick or toothpick. The height of the workpiece should be 2-3 centimeters. Cover the top with a dome lid.
  • We leave the blanks until they solidify for a day. After we remove them from the files, they are separated from the polyethylene surface without extra effort... We give correct shape file or emery paper, slightly sharpening the edges of the product.
  • We knead a new batch of resin, and in the meantime we lay out the dried flowers. We drip a little viscous mass onto the base and apply dried flowers, cover with a lid and let dry. To make the coating as voluminous as a lens, we again coat it with resin. We give the final shape with a file or sandpaper.
  • With a needle we drill a hole at the base and thread the hooks. The product is ready.

  • plastic container for mixing the mass;
  • wooden stick;
  • dry leaves or flowers.

From tools, simple toothpicks and scissors are useful, as well as sandpaper for grouting.

DIY epoxy and wood bracelet

Let's get to work:

  • Wash and dry the form. We will knead the epoxy "dough" in the proportion indicated by the manufacturer. Stir the mixture until the bubbles come to the surface.
  • Let's prepare a decorative filler. Cut the leaves so that they do not look out of the mold.
  • When the resin has thickened and settled, carefully pour it into the mold.

Fill should be done slowly, in a thin stream. The more accurately the substance is poured into the mold, the less polishing is required for the product.

  • Immediately put the leaves in the resin in a circle, spreading them with a toothpick. So that all air bubbles come out of the resin, you can put the mold in the oven for 10 minutes, heated to 80 degrees, and then turned off.
  • After heating, we take out the workpiece, leave it to harden.

When the jewelry is frozen, we remove it from the mold, grind the irregularities and sharp edges with fine-grained sandpaper. To make the surface of the bracelet glossy, open it with acrylic varnish.

Epoxy Rainbow Earrings

Let's start the process:

  • Let's prepare a sketch of the decoration on paper. We will distribute the areas where the resin should be, and where the wood decor should be, we will determine the color transitions.
  • We glue the pieces of acrylic, put the slices of the tree on the bottom according to the sketch, glue them to the base so that they do not float up in the resin mass.
  • We mix the resin and hardener in the required ratio, add blue or green fluorescent pigment to the mass. If you use a simple glow pigment, the resin will take on a milky hue. With colored pigments, the product looks brighter, more original.
  • We knead the resin, stirring with a stick strictly in a circle so that the bubbles come out to the surface. Fill the workpiece.

Curing time depends on several factors: room temperature, correct mixing and ratio of ingredients.

We cover the workpiece with a lid to avoid dust particles falling on the delicate surface.

  • A day later, if the workpiece has frozen, we disassemble the formwork and remove the block. It's time to give it the desired shape.

We level the surface with a grinder, cut out the desired shape according to the sketch, process the edges of the product.

From one block, you can make several jewelry at once in the same theme for yourself, as well as as a gift to relatives and friends.

Epoxy resin jewelry is always stylish and distinctive. Each product combines natural fragility, tenderness and a unique creative idea of the master. Having learned all the secrets of unusual art, you can create with pleasure, creating a collection of unusual author's accessories.

Fruit rings

The slow but steady growth in the well-being of Russians has led to the fact that fewer and fewer people perceive suburban area only as a small personal "springboard" for endless battles for fruit and vegetable products. But the idea of turning this place into a kind of natural oasis, where you want to spend the weekend, breaking free from the kingdom of smog, concrete and cement, comes to us more and more often.

Artificial acrylic stone has no pores, which makes it almost indispensable for the decoration of artificial reservoirs and ponds.

That is why the appearance, along with the beds in our gardens, of rock gardens and rockeries no longer surprises anyone, and even Japanese tobiishi gardens, built with their own hands, are increasingly registered on Russian soil. But it is far from easy to create this beauty, because boulders and stone blocks should not only be significant in size, but also original in shape or color. And then the landscape designers came to the rescue modern technologies, with the help of which various are created, and some of them can be made by hand.

Advantages of artificial decorative stone

The advantages of a man-made stone are obvious. Primarily artificial decorative elements amaze with their rich assortment. you can easily find on sale, and even more so with your own hands, not only all kinds of cobblestones, boulders, pebbles or slates of the required configuration, but also imitating products made of marble, onyx or granite. Their price, of course, is quite affordable, and the appearance is far from bad.

Many products, especially those made on the basis of polymer binders and without the use of cement, are much lighter than their natural counterparts, which makes it possible to use them for finishing works on the site without regard to the strength of the decorated base.

And artificial acrylic stone, in addition to all other advantages, is also distinguished by its thermoplasticity, which allows it to be bent, if necessary, giving the desired shape.

All used in landscape design artificial decorative rock can be subdivided into:

  1. Ceramic artificial stone. After molding, it requires firing in special ovens. Due to the rather complex production technology and the need for expensive equipment, it is relatively expensive and not widely used.
  2. Cast plaster or sand-cement. These types of stones, as the name suggests, are made from a mixture of cement, sand, gypsum and other fillers as well as pigments. Due to their low frost resistance, gypsum products are not very suitable for outdoor use. Boulders and cobblestones, as well as all kinds of garden small forms of cement or concrete, both industrial or handicraft, and made by hand, on the contrary, are quite common. However, their appearance is often quite clumsy copying natural beauty natural stone. therefore garden sculptures made of cement, they are most often painted with paints and enamels intended for outdoor use.

Such "masterpieces" are quite unpretentious and easily endure all the hardships of being in the open air. For enthusiasts looking to make jewelry like this for personal plot with your own hands, it should be borne in mind that an ordinary solution made from sand and cement is suitable only for the manufacture of products by filling in ready-made forms. Cast sculptures are quite massive and difficult to transport. If you would like to create garden figurines based on a frame made of metal mesh, you will have to make a special sculpted concrete with the addition of special plasticizer additives, which give the mixture of sand and cement the necessary consistency. At home, PVA glue or liquid detergent can be used as plasticizers.

Acrylic artificial stone. It is made by introducing mineral fillers into an acrylic gel, followed by molding in a special chamber under vacuum or by injection molding. The main difference that artificial acrylic stone is famous for is the absence of pores, which makes it almost irreplaceable when decorating artificial reservoirs and ponds. Acrylic stone is a talented imitator that allows you to reliably recreate not only marble streaks or inclusions of mica in granite, but also the splendor of semi-precious semi-precious stones: cat's eye, malachite or charoite.
