Steampunk Christmas tree. Steampunk Christmas tree

New Year inspires creativity. We decided to experiment a little and make a Christmas tree out of metal, so to speak, a harsh male version of the New Year's beauty.

Materials needed.

1. An old table lamp.
2. Trimming half an inch and three-quarters of an inch of water pipes.
3. Waste bike chain.
4. Old bicycle rear sprocket.
5. Self-tapping screws of different lengths.
6. A pair of broken alarm clocks, Soviet production.
7. A can of black paint.
8. Paint imitating bronze.
9. Polymer glue Dragon.

Handy tools.

1. Welding inverter.
2. Angle grinder.
3. Gas burner but you can do without it.

We will use the base of a table lamp as the basis for the future tree.

We estimate the approximate size of the branches.

We increase the size of the branches of each next tier by about three to four centimeters.

We mark our dimensions on a half-inch pipe.

We cut the pipe, alternating a cut at ninety degrees with a cut at forty-five degrees.

In our case, we got four segments of four, four of seven, four of eleven and four of fifteen centimeters. We weld segments of the same length with even cuts to each other. It is advisable to put some kind of gasket under the joint in order to give the future branches a slight downward slope.

From a pipe three-quarters of an inch in diameter, cut four pieces of about seven centimeters each.

Now we string the resulting parts onto the frame, from the largest to the smallest. The three-quarter inch pipe lengths mimic the trunk of our tree.

We arrange tiers of branches between each other.

We weld the parts together, leveling along the way.

We measure and cut off the pieces of the bicycle chain.

We weld the chain segments to the branches, simulating garlands.

We make the top of the tree from the rear sprocket of the bicycle.

We weld self-tapping screws to the branches, from the bottom it is more authentic, to the top we reduce the size of the self-tapping screws. We create, as it were, symbolic needles.

Before painting, the metal must be degreased, we used a gas burner for this, but you can do with a solvent.

We paint our product.

Apply a paint that imitates bronze with light brush strokes. It looks like scuffs on a painted bronze Christmas tree.

We disassemble the old Soviet alarm clock and take out the gears. An alarm clock is needed exactly the old one, in modern gears, unfortunately, plastic.
