Two days before the move, it is better to stop watering and spraying the plants, since the soil in the pots must be dry so as not to damage root system during transportation. Can be cut from cardboard or thick paper circles to the size of the diameters of the pots and cover the soil with them so that it does not spill out when transporting indoor plants and flowers.

How to pack indoor plants and flowers during transportation, moving?

Arrange small plants in boxes, placing cardboard partitions between the pots. Alternatively, seal the empty space with newspaper so that the pots are secured and not touching each other.

Tie the stems of medium-sized flowers to pegs stuck in the center of the pot. Wrap the indoor plants with paper and tie them on top. For branched plants, you need to fix several pegs at the edges of the pot, tie them at the top. Wrap the entire structure with paper and tie it on the top of the head.

For tall indoor flowers, pick up a canvas or oilcloth bag that is slightly wider and longer than the plant itself. The pot is placed on the bottom of the bag, which is tied on top with tape or string. Outside, the bag is neatly wrapped with twine so as not to damage the crown. In case of cold weather, the flower can be insulated with an additional layer of film.

To protect a thorny houseplant from breaking thorns during transportation, and you from scratches, pin pieces of foam on the thorns and secure them with tape. Be especially careful when carrying them, as the needles are usually quite brittle and brittle.

This will equalize the temperature of the soil with the ambient temperature and the houseplants will recover faster after being transported. Do not fertilize the soil until new shoots appear. Many tourists have such a hobby - to bring from different countries plants that can be grown in the country or at home on the windowsill. These are cyclamens, and crocuses, and fuchsias, and euonymus, and various ivy, and hibiscus and many other plants.

Plants need take from the collection point to the home, and this usually takes more than one day. It is better to dig or cuttings only those plants about which it is known for sure that they are not rare and endangered, and which have a chance to take root far from their homeland.

Moreover, one must bear in mind that it is impossible to transport plants across the border, and even more so with land - violation of quarantine instructions (see rules below). So there is a certain risk.

One wandering a botanist told how he brought some gentian from Nepal, packed it in tin can with the ground, put it in a backpack. In Sheremetyevo, the customs officers examined him and had to explain to them for a long time that these were not hemp seedlings at all.

Cuttings are desirable cut with nail scissors or tweezers, it is faster and safer. It is better to take cuttings with at least five leaves. The season does not play a role, both April and October cuttings are successfully rooted.

If stuck more than half of the cuttings, this is already a very good result. How to cut a stalk without attracting special attention? You can, for example, ask your companion to study the map of the city, it will perfectly cover the tourist botanist, who at this time will cut off a small stalk. Or pretend that you are photographing plants ...

And of course, the main one principle - do no harm. After all, no one will be pleased if in the morning he does not find his favorite bell in the garden.

IN field conditions you also need to be careful - in some countries it is forbidden to pick, cut any plants. For example, in Finland it is prohibited to pick moss and lichens, as well as some species of rare plants.

Five ways to pack your plants for long haul

Method 1. Food wrap.
Clay wrap can be used, especially if the plants are large enough. Begin to wrap it from the root and go up, thereby gently pressing the branches.
For small things, you can use containers, but it is better to place plants wrapped in foil in them too.

Method 2. Sphagnum.
It is good to have sphagnum with you. If possible, shake the roots of plants from the soil, wrap with sphagnum, moisten and wrap tightly in plastic bags with scotch tape. Make slots for air flow only in bags covering aerial part plants. Various wrapped small items can be placed in plastic food containers. The method is simple and very reliable. Plants take up little space and are well preserved.

Method 3. Plastic bags.
Take with you rolls of plastic bags of 2-3 formats, starting with the minimum (for Alpine fines). Wrap an earthen lump in a bag, the green part remains open. Place the wrapped plants in a plastic container. If the grass is delicate and it is a pity to crush it, then vertically - a lump to someone, with greens up.

If these are hard pillows saxiphrag, then you can use a jack, as it is more convenient. Then two to three containers can be placed on the bottom of a sturdy plastic bag or travel bag, not too much big size so that there is no problem to carry it on the plane as hand luggage. On top for camouflage, you can put something that will not overwhelm the plants, but will hide them well, such as a windbreaker. You can also put it in the Duty free package of the place from where you are leaving, then, as travelers say, upon arrival, customs officers are not at all interested in this package.

Method 4. A glass of water.
On the bus, the cuttings go perfectly in a glass of water and a napkin torn into small pieces, which stands or hangs in a bag. During the day, the bag opens to allow light to enter, it is insulated at night, especially in May and September. Once every three days they can be taken to the hotel room to wash and change the water.

It is better to disguise them before the border. Some plants can withstand such a nomadic lifestyle for two whole weeks ... And fuchsia and honeysuckle Caprifoli even bloomed with fright.

Method 5. Plastic bottle.
The method is suitable for those who did not take any film or containers with them. In the store you can buy mineral water in a bottle of the required volume. Cut an empty bottle in half. IN lower part put cuttings, previously wrapped wet toilet paper... Cover with the top of the bottle and put in a bag. Many cuttings will perfectly endure the road at 12-14 o'clock.

For some reason, in late autumn and winter, there is a particularly keen desire to buy some new plant. This often happens when dreary long evenings come. Probably the lack of bright colors on the street, and the soul asks for a holiday and delight for the eyes. And then the legs themselves are carried to the flower shop.
And it happens that you just need a gift for someone, and the frost on the street cannot be canceled.
How can you get the desired purchase home without negative consequences?

When buying indoor plants in the cold season, you need to take into account that they have already experienced great stress during a long journey from greenhouse farms to store shelves. And you need to carefully plan their transportation from the store home so that they do not yet.

Have a nice shopping and good travel!

It is known that even movement within an apartment can unbalance plants. Paradoxically, long-distance travel is often beneficial to them, but they need to be well prepared.

Houseplants are the most comfortable of all pets. They do not need to be fed several times a day, taken out for a walk, they will not tear their favorite slippers, becoming sad alone. They can even be left alone for a couple of days. But if you are going away for a long time, the problem will require a solution. Can be constructed various devices that maintain humidity, even connect smart automation, but the risk of losing green friends will still remain. Plants feel good only with constant human care.

Perhaps you will give your flowers to friends during your vacation, okay knowledgeable plants and who knows how to handle them. Or take them with you to the dacha. Then, getting busy with packaging, you will think more than once that it is much easier to transport a cat and dog than sensitive indoor plants.

We collect, pack and drive

In herbaceous plants, all the leaves are gently lifted up and tied, but not tightly, so as not to damage. Shrubs, trees are pulled together with a rope very carefully so as not to break branches. Put the connected plants in a high box. Fill the space between the plants with crumpled paper and rags so that they do not wobble. Close the lid and tie the box; if the plants are tall, lift all four sides of the lid up and fix them in an upright position with tape. When tying the box with string, do not pull the top down to avoid breaking the plants. tall plants it is difficult to find a suitable box. Take a sheet of craft paper or cardboard. Lay the plant pot on its side on the paper and gently roll it into a cylinder. Secure with paper clips or tape. The machine gets very hot in summer. Plants should not be placed in the trunk or on the rear shelf against the glass. Place the box in the back seat or on the floor between the front and rear seats. If there is no room in the cabin, you will have to carry plants in the trunk. In this case, cover the bottom of the trunk with old magazines, especially where the exhaust pipe goes. This will prevent the pots from heating up from below. Place a damp rag on top of the box to help the plants warm up less from the sun-hot trunk lid.

We go with flowers to the country

For most indoor plants, it is not only desirable, but vital to stay in the summer on fresh air... IN indoor conditions it is almost impossible to create the conditions that are so necessary for the full growth, development and flowering of plants - changes in day and night temperatures, natural sunlight, not refracted through glass.

Coleuses, begonias, balsams will gain such a leaf mass and brightness of color over the summer that you will never get in the house. After a summer vacation, Strelitzia and Cannes will bloom in winter. They will pick up phalaenopsis and dendrobium buds. The conifers that have worn out in the rooms will revive and freshen up. For them, staying at the dacha is not just relaxation, but a start in life.

ATTENTION! You can transport plants to the dacha when the threat of the last frost has passed. In the central zone of Russia, frosts are possible until June 6.

When you reach the place, first of all, remove the box with plants from the car and put it in the shade. Having freed yourself from unloading, start placing the plants. Choose a place on the site that is illuminated by the sun in the morning, hours before 10-11, or in the evening, after 6 hours, so as not to expose the plants to the midday heat. The pots are buried in a groove, on the bottom of which a layer of rubble is placed, so that when watering, the water does not stagnate in the pots. A layer of ash is poured over the rubble, which prevents earthworms from entering the pot through the drainage hole.

Plants can be left outside overnight if night temperatures do not drop below 12-14 ° C. Prolonged rains are harmful to indoor plants. You will have to bring plants into the house or build a sloping canopy so that the water does not flood the flower pots.

We transport flowers from an apartment to an apartment

Preparing for the move is a responsible occupation. There is so much to be done that time is sorely lacking. When almost all things are collected, houseplants are also prepared for the move. Do not keep flowers wrapped for too long. Film is especially dangerous. Plants under it are steamed, rotting quickly begins. If the plants are transported in the summer, it is imperative to make several holes in the film packaging.

The plants arrived safely at a new place, but there is no need to rush to unpack them in winter. Let the plants warm up for an hour and a half and only then remove the packaging.

In your new home, try to place the plants in the same light and temperature conditions as in the old location. Fit plants into new interior you can later, while you are unlikely to have enough time for additional chores with the likely whims of plants.

The new apartment will differ from the old one both in temperature, humidity, and illumination. Houseplants will feel the change much earlier than you. Carefully monitor their condition in order to notice the problems that have arisen in time. Adaptation to new conditions will take no more than a few weeks if you provide plants on time help needed... Patient pets will live without feeding and "bath" days, while you are busy with moving chores, but will not be able to come to terms with a gross violation of the main parameters of life support - temperature, humidity level and amount of light.

Notes to the florist

Plants must not be transported on a roof rack.

It is almost impossible to securely anchor the plants without damaging them. When transported like this, soil spills out of the pot. No matter how carefully the plant is packed, wind, road dust and shaking will cause significant damage to it. The packed plant will receive a serious heat stroke.

Transportation of indoor flowers in winter

Never take unpacked plants out of the house. Do not take out of the house even packaged plants at temperatures below -10 ° C for more than 1-2 minutes. At freezing temperatures, plants are loaded only into a pre-heated car interior. In winter, plants are packed in several layers of paper. and film so that there are at least four layers of packaging around the plant. The plant must be packed with the pot.

Flowers require a very careful attitude to themselves, therefore, certain difficulties may arise during their transportation. Experienced florists possess several secrets that help them successfully transport flowers and keep them fresh and healthy.

Prepare ahead of time. Do not water the plants for several days before moving. The ground must be dry and hard. Thus, it will not get enough sleep during the trip and the roots will not be damaged. For additional protection Cut a circle out of cardboard paper and cover the ground with it. For long stems, purchase wooden sticks. Stick them into the ground and tie long petals to them. If the plant consists entirely of long petals, you will need a few sticks to tie them. Also take care of the tops. Wrap them carefully in linen bags or use oilcloth bags.

Prepare carton boxes, make cardboard partitions and put containers with vegetation there. If you are going to transport pets in cold weather, put two or three plastic bottles of hot water in the box. Fill the remaining slots with paper. If the plants fit completely in the box and do not look out, close it and wrap it with tape. Pre-cut small holes there so that the flowers can breathe.

If you cannot transport all the plants in containers, free the roots and cover them with wet moss. Put each copy in a bag. Then put them in a large drawer. If the move takes place in cold weather, first put standard building insulation in the box. Experts recommend replanting plants a week before traveling to plastic containers... This minimizes the risk of breaking the pots and damaging the flowers.

Pack large flowers separately. Load them on the transport last. Make sure that there are no heavy objects nearby that can fall and damage plants. Be sure to secure them to prevent them from falling on the road. If you have the opportunity, order transport with windows and large quantity fixing belts. Take the smoothest roads when driving. If there is a long way to go, stop and take the plants out into the air. Try to stay in the shade.

When the shipment comes to an end, the first thing to do is to unpack the flowers. If you notice any damage, remove it and give your pets warm water to recover from the stress. But in cold weather, do not unpack the boxes right away. Bring the wrapped flowers into a new room and leave there for a few hours. When they are warm to room temperature, unpack them.

Plants are very convenient to transport by plane. There is a special insulated compartment with a preset temperature. Each specimen is wrapped in polyethylene so that the plant continues to breathe. If you have the option of transporting flowers by plane, choose this option. But if you follow all the above rules, you can also successfully transport them in a car.

If you prepare in advance for transportation and take good care of the plants during the trip, they will not lose their charm and will continue to delight you with their flowering.
