Experienced users have a number of programs that they need to work and do not install extra. In contrast, beginners do not know which programs are best suited for different tasks. In search of the best option, many install different software, later it hangs like a dead weight, is not deleted or leaves behind files. Another nuance - often a lot of garbage is put on a laptop with a useful program. Not every laptop owner will want or be able to clean the drive after receiving such useless software. Anyone who has worked with a laptop or PC may have noticed that some applications load themselves after turning on the device. Cleaning the system volume information folder
A month ago, my computer started to boot very slowly for about 35 minutes. I thought that the end of the hard drive, but nothing happened. The thing was that the system volume information folder stores backup copies of recovery points, and I had 253 GB of these points, and I started cleaning it. First you need to enable the visibility of hidden folders. We enter the control panel and find the folder options.

Built-in Windows tool
You need to start with the fact that Windows already has a built-in tool. True, it doesn’t always work perfectly, but if you don’t use your computer so often (or it’s not possible to install a third-party utility on your PC (more on it later in the article)) then you can use it.
Disk Cleaner is available in all versions of Windows: 7, 8, 8.1.
I will give a universal way how to run it in any of the above OS.
Press the combination of buttons Win + R and enter the command cleanmgr.exe. Next, press Enter. See screenshot below.
Then Windows OS will launch the Disk Cleanup program and ask us to specify the disk to scan.
After 5-10 min. time for analysis (the time depends on the size of your disk and the amount of garbage on it), you will be presented with a report with the ability to choose what to delete. In principle, all items can be ticked. See screenshot below.
After selecting, the program will ask you again if you really want to delete - just confirm.
Result: the hard drive was very quickly cleared of most unnecessary (but not all) and temporary files. It took all min. 5-10. The downside, perhaps, is that the standard cleaner does not scan the system very well and skips many files. Cleaning the Registry and removing unnecessary files
Using the free program CCLEANER, we can also remove a huge amount of junk. Download the latest version from the official website: https://piriform.com.
Install CCleaner and run it. Go to the Registry tab, make sure all the checkboxes in the section Registry integrity installed and after that click Check for Issues.
After a few seconds, all unnecessary entries will be found. To clear them, click Fix and in the window that opens Fix marked.
