You will need planed pine planks to make a roll paper towel holder. The dimensions of the homemade product are small, so you can take the remaining trims from previous projects with a thickness of 15-25 mm. If there is no home workshop suitable material, you can glue a 180 mm wide shield out of wood with your own hands or purchase a ready-made furniture panel small size.
For the crossbar, a round stick with a diameter of about 25 mm is suitable, for example, from a handle garden tool... Side handles are slightly modified door handles... Although such details are not a problem to carve on lathe on wood. A magnet, joiner's glue, a drop of any universal glue and a screw are also useful.
How to make a holder
Holder device with shelf The design of the towel holder is so simple that all the work can be done hand tools: Saw out the grooves with a hacksaw and then remove the wood with a chisel. Well, if you have a circular saw or router, it will be much easier, and the connections will come out more accurately. What you definitely can't do without is an electric drill and feather drills.
Start with horizontal shelves
Prepare two pieces of 180 mm wide and a length commensurate with the roll towels you are using. Saw grooves along the edges on circular lathe or select them hand milling cutter... Sand the edges with sandpaper.
The parts of our towel holder are glued with grooves and ridges. Strong docking points ensure structural rigidity and do not need to be reinforced with screws. The dimensions of the cutouts are given for a pine board with a thickness of 18 mm, if using a different material, calculate the cutouts yourself.
Make two sidewalls
Mark on wooden board sidewall with rounded cuts, cut out the workpiece with a jigsaw and process the edges with a grinder. Make the second piece using the first one as a template.
Mark on the inner surfaces of the sidewalls the location of the grooves, which should be 1 mm wider than the corresponding ridges on the horizontal parts. Select the grooves with a slot disc or cutter.
Take a round blank for the crossbeam with a 2–3 cm length allowance and grind its surface. Measure the diameter of the stick and pick up a slightly larger feather drill. Mark the drilling centers on the sidewalls and make holes: on the left workpiece, up to half the thickness of the material, and on the right - a through hole.
Assemble the holder parts together
Coat the grooves and ridges of the blanks with glue and assemble the structure. Pull the blanks with clamps and wait until the adhesive is completely dry. Then fix the handle on the left sidewall with a countersunk screw screwing it into the bottom of the blind hole.
Recess in the left sidewall - the screw head protrudes slightly above the surface Make a blind hole in the right handle for the size of the round stick, limiting the drilling depth to 15 mm. Secure the parts with wood glue.
Round stick-crossbar is glued into the right handle Insert the crossbar into the holder until it stops and determine the length of the stick, taking into account that the magnet subsequently placed from the end should protrude slightly from the surface. Saw off excess wood, select a depression for the magnet and secure it with all-purpose adhesive.
Cover the wood with wood stain or varnish. Once dry, fasten the holder with short self-tapping screws to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet, and hang the roll of paper towels in place.
Our homemade product can also be mounted on the wall through the furniture corners installed inside the shelf. This converts the top panel into additional storage space.
Paper towels in the kitchen are always irreplaceable. I suggest making a towel holder with your own hands. Its design is very simple, and its creation will take no more than two hours. To create a paper towel holder we need: leftovers wooden board 2cm thick, thick steel wire, 10 screws, grinder, grinding attachment for grinder, drill.
1. Cut out a rectangle from a board with dimensions 33 by 10 cm.
2. Cut out 2 rectangles 10 by 12 cm. Using the grinder, cut off one corner, making it rounded.
3. We put on the grinder grinding attachment, we grind the parts to perfect smoothness.
4. Take a piece of wire 36 cm long. Wrap one edge so that we get a hook.
5. Now we collect all the elements of the holder. Using self-tapping screws, attach the sides to back wall.
6. With a drill with a drill with a thickness equal to the thickness of the wire, we drill holes in the side walls.
7. In the back wall we drill three non-through holes approximately to the middle of the board thickness.
8. Pass the wire through the holes in the side walls.
9. Insert three self-tapping screws into the previously made holes and use a drill or screwdriver to screw them into the wall.
10. Here is our holder and ready. All that remains is to put on a roll of paper towels. To do this, take out the wire from one side, put on the roll and again thread the wire into the side wall.

⇒ Step 1. Prepare the crossbars. If you use wooden ones, then it makes sense to cover them with water-repellent impregnation or varnish, if metal - choose pipes made of light stainless alloys. Take care that the edges of the bars are not sharp or jagged. Sand them with sandpaper or a file. You can also use some kind of plastic plugs or soft covers at the ends of the crossbar.
⇒ Step 2. Unnecessary leather straps are a great option for holders. But instead, you can use leather strips, heavy bands, or slings. Cut the belt into 4 pieces. Fold one piece in half and use an awl or drill to make a through hole towards the ends. The holes can already be on the belt.
⇒ Step 3. Drill two holes in the wall. The distance between them should be 10-15 cm less than the length of the bar. Drive a dowel into the hole, then attach a piece of belt folded in half and screw it in with a screw.
⇒ Step 4... Insert the bar into the straps. The towel holder is ready to use! By the way, paper towels in rolls can be hung on such a rod-shaped holder.
Ring-shaped wall-mounted towel holder
Required materials and tools:
- metal ring;
- an old leather belt or strip of leather;
- drill, dowels and screws.
⇒ Step 1. Cut a piece of belt or leather 10-15 cm long. Fold in half and make a through hole closer to the ends with an awl or drill.
⇒ Step 2. Make a loop around the ring with the strap. If desired, you can use glue to prevent the ring from rotating in the loop.
⇒ Step 3. Drill a hole in the wall, drive in a dowel and screw in a leather loop with a ring.
Towel rail with ceiling mount
Quite an unusual design of the holder, reminiscent of a circus trapeze. By using buckles similar to those used in the shoulder straps of the bag, the height of the bar can be adjusted.
Required materials and tools:
- metal or wooden crossbar;
- 2 belts with a length of at least 1.5 m (2 slings, polypropylene or thick cotton belts);
- drill, dowels and screws;
- ceiling mounts - hooks or rings.
⇒ Step 1. Make a loop at the end of each strap. If you don't plan on pulling the barbell out of its loops to change the rolls of paper towels, you can wrap the belt tightly around the bar, sew and glue, or use Velcro.
⇒ Step 2. Mount the special fixings in the ceiling using a drill, screws and dowels. Make sure the straps are the same length and the distance between the bindings is equal to the distance between the loops on the bar. Then the bar will hang straight, parallel to the floor.
