Making a dining table from plywood. Do-it-yourself high-quality plywood table Drawings of a plywood table

Not a single family can do without a table. Moreover, even the smallest unit of society should have several tables. At least two: a kitchen one, which can be used as a dining room, and a worker, which is also a writing one. And if the family has a child, you will also need a table for his studies. And bedside or magazine will not be superfluous. The problem is that the number of furniture elements offered by manufacturers is in stark contrast to their quality. Plus - it is not always possible to find what you like. In such a situation, a plywood table may be the best way out.

A plywood table is easy to make

The plywood table has whole line qualities that make it very seductive in the eyes of potential owners.

  • Plywood was originally invented to compensate certain disadvantages wood. And the inventors managed to solve this problem: plywood is formed in such a way that each subsequent layer of material levels out the weaknesses of the previous one. As a result: the same plywood table is quite durable and durable.
  • Compared to any other material, plywood is extremely cheap stuff... Of course, it will not be able to withstand tough loads, but if they are not supposed to (it is not necessary to chop, for example, meat on a plywood table), then a tabletop made of this material can become a real decoration of a piece of furniture for the corresponding purpose.
  • But the main advantage of the material is the ability to create a plywood table with your own hands. Plywood is easy to cut, processed with the most primitive tools, does not split - and this is its main advantage in comparison with solid wood blanks. So you can turn on the flight of imagination at full power and create unique pieces of furniture with the most elaborate outlines.
  • The flexibility of plywood is no less attractive: it bends without cracking or deformation. Of course, for the main elements of any kind of table, this is not a fundamental quality. But it allows you to customize the finished piece of furniture.

It is advisable to make a plywood table not from boxes left over from packaging material for large-sized equipment. The optimal raw material is the Ш2 brand - it has double-sided processing, that is, the finished product will not need final revision. But if the table is supposed to be used with excessive moisture - for example, you are planning to replace the countertop in the kitchen - then it is better to choose a material with a moisture-resistant coating.

The necessary tools

Every business begins with the selection of tools that will allow you to implement the conceived venture. Whichever plywood table you plan, and even if you only need a tabletop made of this material, you will surely need:

  • jigsaw (electrically preferred);
  • screwdriver; more convenient to use and more modern screwdriver;
  • fasteners. Self-tapping screws are the most convenient as clamps;
  • the glue that is most suitable for bonding plywood parts;
  • measuring instruments (at least a building square and tape measure);
  • grinding accessories;
  • drill.

The pencil and the actual material for the table are assumed by default. In addition, furniture plugs will not be superfluous, which will allow you to mask the joints of individual elements.

The main thing is accuracy and accuracy

The simplest plywood table

You can practice like a working version of the table. It consists of only 4 elements:

  • countertops;
  • two props that serve as four legs in the classic design of the desk;
  • spacers, placed end-to-end between the supports on the back of the tabletop.

The sizes of individual parts are determined individually, depending on personal needs. Drawing up a preliminary drawing indicating the exact parameters is mandatory.

Making a table can be reduced to the following manipulations.

  • Marking the proposed table element on a plywood sheet.
  • Sawing the workpiece in accordance with the markings.
  • Processing cut-off edges with a sander or sandpaper... In the latter case, you should start with the use of coarse-grained sandpaper, gradually moving on to working with fine-grain paper.
  • Basting with a tape measure the places where the screws are screwed in.
  • Drilling holes for fasteners. Note that the drill diameter is chosen slightly smaller than the diameter of the screws. Then the plywood sheets will not burst during assembly.
  • Countersinking: the top of the holes is processed with a drill with a large diameter so that the heads of the self-tapping screws can be sunk into them.
  • Assembly. First, the table top and side racks dock. After aligning the elements relative to each other, the back cover of the product is installed.

The penultimate step will be to put on caps on the caps of the screws. Alternatively, these defects can be filled and painted to match the plywood.

You can get furniture of any style

To increase the strength of the product

If the table is intended for installation in the kitchen or for use by a teenager, it is better to take care in advance that the product is as resistant to physical influences as possible. To do this, it makes sense to coat all the joint seams with glue before fastening, and from the inside to strengthen the corners with metal furniture spacers-corners.

The final finish of the table affects the overall experience

Final stage

You may have to walk on the tabletop with sandpaper: plywood does not always have flat surface... If you are making a table for the kitchen and have purchased a material that is not characterized by increased moisture resistance, impregnation with the appropriate composition may be necessary. In this case, it will take time to wait for the impregnation to dry completely.

Suitable for final finishing:

  • varnish that does not emit harmful vapors;
  • paint that meets the same condition;
  • self-adhesive film imitating the structure of wood or stone.

We would recommend a varnish. Plywood has a rather pronounced wood pattern that will fit into almost any interior, be it a living room, a nursery or a kitchen. And most importantly - the varnish will not flake off (unlike the film) under the influence of temperature extremes. If bubbles do appear, they can be sanded without any problems and the surface can be opened with a new layer of varnish.

To apply varnish, it is better to choose a room with good ventilation and a temperature that does not go beyond the range of 19-20 degrees Celsius, where the table should be moved. The varnishing brush should be with natural bristles, with split ends - it allows you to carry out long enough strokes without visible traces after drying.

The technique of varnishing the table is as follows.

  • The varnish is diluted. Usually, white spirit is used to dilute it, and the proportion is maintained 1: 1, but this point should be clarified in the instructions attached to the composition. It is very simple to do it yourself: the solvent is gradually poured into the varnish with continuous and slow stirring.
  • The first layer is applied along the grain of the plywood. Do not press hard on the brush, keep it under slight angle relative to the surface.
  • After about a day, when the first layer of varnish dries well, remove the villi (if any) adhering to the surface. For this, fine-grained sandpaper is used. After processing, the tabletop and the rest of the table parts are wiped with a cloth soaked in white spirit, without pressure.
  • For the second layer, a varnish diluted with a solvent in a ratio of 3: 1 is used. After drying, another sanding is carried out using the finest-grained sandpaper.

If you want to achieve at all perfect result, after the described manipulations, you can cover the countertop with 2-3 layers of undiluted varnish and walk on it not only with the most delicate sandpaper, but also with a felt circle. With such processing, even the simplest table begins to resemble a piece of furniture art.

Polishing is never too much

Food for thought

A plywood table is not as simple as it seems. It is quite possible to build a transforming table that will save the space of your apartment. Moreover, the techniques for its manufacture will remain the same, only you will have to work on the design drawings and stock up on elements of mechanisms that will transfer furniture from one state to another.

For the living room, you can build either a guest table, or coffee table according to principle patchwork quilt... Types of plywood, like species solid woodhave visual differences. So by purchasing scraps of material made from different wood, you can recreate a real puzzle in the tabletop, which will fascinate everyone who drinks tea with you. True, you will need a truly jewelry cut of plywood. But in such conditions, it is even more interesting to make a tabletop or a full-fledged plywood table yourself.

How to make a plywood table, you can see in the video:

Examples of plywood tables

Homemade furniture - cheap and original solutionable to do inner space home more attractive and comfortable. Of course, to design something really complex, you need the right skills. However, a plywood table is a fairly simple piece of furniture that does not require a lot of time and effort. Having understood the issue, even a novice master will be able to create it.

We will tell you how to make a plywood table with your own hands.

Materials and tools for work

An important stage in the work is the preparation stage. Stock up on all the necessary tools and materials, make sure you have a good understanding of the process at all stages.

How to choose plywood for the table

The main component is, of course, plywood. To create a table, sheets of at least 5 veneer layers are suitable... The thickness of these panels ranges from 16 to 30 mm. The length and width of the plywood are not critical, the choice depends on the size of the tabletop you want to get as a result.

Important! About quality plywood sheet can be judged by examining its surface. Samples suitable for such work are smooth, have a uniform color, and do not contain knots, cracks or other defects.

What tools and materials to cook

For the manufacture of

In the process, you will need the following.

  • Jigsaw or circular Saw for cutting plywood.
  • Furniture glue.
  • Thick cardboard or other similar material to create life-size templates.
  • Pencil and long ruler.
  • Fasteners - bolts, furniture corners or wood screws.

For processing

A separate line is to highlight the materials required at the stage of final processing of the table surfaces. This is usually sandpaper or grinder machine for primary processing ... AND wax, varnish or paint for the final finishing of the piece of furniture.

Important! Texture natural wood, which is obtained by treating surfaces with transparent varnish, will fit well into interiors in the loft, minimalism, country style.

However, a strict classical room, as well as ultra-modern high-tech, are in better harmony with painted products.

Table drawing

Making an accurate drawing is the next part of the preparation process. Draw a tabletop, legs with dimensions on paper. The more complex the shape of the product to be assembled, the more detailed the diagram should be.

After completing the drawings, transfer the elements depicted on it in real sizes to cardboard. Cut out the resulting pieces - they will serve as templates for working with plywood.

How to make a plywood table

After the tools, materials, drawing, templates are prepared, it's time to start the process of creating the table. To do this, follow the instructions.

Part marking

Take a cardboard template, secure it to the plywood board with masking tape, circle with a pencil. Thus it is necessary to outline all the components of the tablefrom the table top to the legs or side uprights that replace them.

Cut out parts

For this use a jigsaw or circular saw... Triangular, square shape easier to cut than curved. But it is quite possible to cope with the latter using templates.

Surface treatment

We are talking about grinding elements with sandpaper or other grinding tools.

Important! The joints are subjected to the most careful processing. They must be absolutely smooth so that the parts fit together as well as possible.

Connection of component parts of the product

Mark with a pencil the location of the fasteners. Drill holes in these places using a drill with a diameter slightly smaller than that of the screws. Then drill the top of the resulting holes with a drill with a large diameter - this process is called countersinking.

Then connect all the components. Make sure that the joints are tight - then the table will last a long time. Put the plugs on the caps of the screws.

Coating with varnish or paint

Varnish will favorably show the wood texture, paint - add a little color to the interior... Both options have their own advantages.

Important! An interesting solution is painting the legs and countertops in different shades.

  • The most important thing when designing your own desk is to make it fairly stable.... To do this, you can additionally connect the vertical legs with horizontal elements, even create a whole frame.
  • Sometimes it is recommended to try to glue, respecting the proportions, a small model of a future piece of furniture made of paper or cardboard. This is usually enough to understand whether the invented model will hold up or not. And also you need to somehow strengthen its supporting elements.

Making a table with your own hands is a bit like playing with a constructor in childhood. Only the result is significantly more useful and durable.

Then, we often thought this lesson was interesting, but useless. And now it's time to do something very useful - a plywood table with your own hands.

From time immemorial, no house is complete without this piece of furniture. It is used for study, work, cooking and eating, and in many other cases. But the current price policy and its correlation with the quality of finished tables leaves much to be desired.

What is the way out of this situation? It's very simple: you can make a plywood table with your own hands.

Preparing tools

Let's start with the selection of the necessary tools for work. So, we will need:

  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • glue;
  • construction square;
  • roulette;
  • sandpaper;
  • pencil;
  • drill;
  • furniture plugs;
  • plywood.

First, let's keep it simple universal table from plywood that can be used anywhere. It will look something like this:

Step by step instructions: from cutting parts to assembly

Step 1. Making the cover.

We take the sheet waterproof plywoodand with the help of a pencil and a tape measure we measure a rectangle of the size we need on it (everyone himself determines what size he needs a table).

When the markings on the sheet are ready, carefully cut out the covers with a jigsaw (or a hand-held circular saw, if the plywood is thick). Better to use a jigsaw file with small tooth so that the cut is neat. Then we process the cut edges (and not only the edges), removing the burrs that have arisen in this way. For this, a grinder is suitable, but in case of its absence, we will do with ordinary sandpaper.

Step 2. We make the end walls of the table (they are also “legs”) and the inner wall.

Here our actions are not much different from the previous step: we measure, mark, cut out and process the edges with sandpaper.

To give the table even greater stability (or the plywood does not seem thick enough), you can cut not two, but four blanks of legs, which are twisted in pairs during installation. Thus, we get two thick end walls.

Step 3. Putting the elements together.

The final stage of work is assembly. First of all, it is necessary to connect the end walls to the inner one. The picture above shows exactly where you need to screw in the screws. We measure with a tape measure and mark these points on our details with a pencil. Then we drill with a drill at the marked points of the hole. The drill diameter should be slightly smaller than the screws we use. This is done so that the plywood sheets do not burst during assembly. Drilled holes We countersink under the caps of the screws so that they do not stick out. We twist the screws into the finished holes.

Now we put the table cover on top and align it with respect to end walls and fasten to them in the way described above. Then we put on furniture plugs on the caps of the screws or putty.

For greater strength, the parts can be not only twisted, but also glued. You can also use furniture corners.

Final processing of the product

We need varnish, paint or self-adhesive wood-like film. Some details of product varnishing are described in another article... After that, we leave the table for 1.5 - 2 days until it dries completely.

You can also use a varnish application method that eliminates brush marks. To do this, we transfer the table to a well-ventilated room with an air temperature of 19-20 C. It is better to choose a brush from natural bristle with split ends. This brush will allow you to make long strokes.

1. Dilute the varnish. Before applying, the varnish must be diluted with white spirit in a 1: 1 ratio, while stirring slowly. This will help it dry quickly and it will spread better over the surface.

2. Apply the first layer. So, coat the product with a layer of varnish along the grain, without pressing hard on the brush and holding it at a low angle. After the first coat of varnish has dried (approx. 24 hours), remove the fluff (if any). We do this with 220-230K fine-grained sandpaper. After completing the procedure, wipe the surface with a damp cloth (soaked in White Spirit). If there are still brush marks on the surface of the product, carefully sand these areas with fine-grained sandpaper.

3. Apply the second layer, observing the ratio 3: 1 (mix in the same way as in the previous time). Let it dry and sand again using 320K sandpaper.

4. Apply undiluted varnish in several layers. To get the maximum effect, sand the surface (600K) and polish with a felt wheel.

So we finished our debut cutting with a jigsaw and as a result we got a plywood table with our own hands. Usually, all these works take no more than 1 day or even no more than 5 hours (it all depends on the skill of the designer).

Alternative products - transforming table

We have described one of the most simple options plywood table. You can also mount it, for example, not with one inner wall, but with two.

View images different options tables

In addition, there is such a thing as a transforming table. This is a rather interesting category of products that can also be made from plywood, and they are notable for the fact that they can increase their area by 2-3 times.

In the unfolded state, the dimensions of the table are small, while after a few efforts it becomes an ordinary dining table.

In conditions small apartmentwhen everyone square meter on the account, such a plywood table will become simply an irreplaceable attribute and will fit very well into the interior of the home.

Assembly essence plywood tables comes down to one algorithm: draw - cut - connect (assemble) - process the surface. Everything is extremely simple and clear!

Specialization: Master in Construction drywall structures, finishing works and styling floor coverings... Installation of door and window blocks, decoration of facades, installation of electrical, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Recently, my wife and I caught ourselves thinking that we do not have a mobile table that can be quickly put in the right place and used for any purpose: from friendly tea drinking to reading favorite books or children's games. For work, I decided to use sheet plywood that is easy to process and attractive in appearance, the sheet of which was very useful for us from past projects. In this article I will tell you how to do stylish table do it yourself.

Description of the workflow

For ease of perception, I will divide all actions into 3 main parts - preparation and collection of everything you need, production of structural elements, assembly and decoration finished product... Each of the stages, in turn, consists of a number of small operations, by performing which you are guaranteed to achieve excellent result, even if you decide to make a piece of furniture for the first time.

Training

First, let's figure out what materials we need for work:

Material Description
Plywood It is necessary to choose a material not lower than the first grade so that there are no significant flaws on the surface. Thickness - 12 mm or more, this is enough to create a durable table. I used plywood with a thickness of 12 mm, as for the cost, at the time of this writing, it cost about 1,000 rubles per sheet 1525x1525
Finishing nails They differ in that they have a small thickness and a reduced head, due to which the fasteners are almost invisible on the surface. I used products 3x30 mm golden color, only 8 pieces are needed.

To strengthen the structure, you can use the furniture corners, which are attached under the table top and will not be noticeable, but this is optional, and the table holds on nails perfectly due to the original design

Stain With its help, plywood can be given almost any effect, the color is chosen individually, there are many options. I used the composition "Ebony", which gives the surface dark color with a gray tint - that is, after processing, the plywood acquires the effect of antiquity
Finish coating Since we used a stain, the surface must be varnished to give shine and protect from moisture. If you want to make a table of a certain color and you do not need wood structure, then you need to purchase paint of the desired tone

When carrying out work, you can not do without a set of tools, we need the following list:

  • Jigsaw will help to quickly and efficiently cut the material into pieces of any size and shape. The main thing is to have the right type of blades at hand, the T101B option is best for clean cutting, just tell the markings in the store and you will be given a blade. There are similar options, the marking does not have to be the same, it is important that the file is designed for clean cutting;
  • Roulette and pencil - those devices, without which nothing can be done at all. All measurements and marking of the material are made with their help, a three-meter tape will be enough, and a pencil can be any, the main thing is that it draws clearly, and the lines are thin, because you will have to cut the material along them;
  • To remove all the flaws on the ends, which inevitably form during sawing, you need sandpaper, I used the option with a grit of 150. I had a putty trowel at hand, which I used, to grind with it desired sites much easier and faster;
  • Carnation it is best to hammer with a small hammer weighing 200-300 grams, and in order to finish them off to the end without damaging the surface of the table, you need a doboiner - a device with a blunt tip that rests on the cap and allows you to hammer it quickly and accurately;
  • You will need brushes to apply the paint layer, the size of which may be different, I use options with a width of 1-1.5 inches, they are convenient for me, but if you prefer a different standard size, then use it;
  • To remove the lint that will inevitably rise after applying the stain, I use an abrasive paper with grain sizes from 1000 to 1500, it allows perfect surface leveling and does not leave scratches. You can buy such material both in construction and car dealerships, because it is most often used in body repair.

Table making

If everything you need is at hand, then you can start making the table, the sequence of work is as follows:

  • First you need to mark up on a sheet of plywood, it does not have to be intact, the most important thing is that you get 4 pieces measuring 50 by 50 centimeters. That is, you mark the surface so that 4 squares of the desired configuration are marked on it. If your sheet is uneven, then control all the corners with a square;
  • Then cutting is done, for this, the required blade is inserted into the jigsaw, it is installed along the line (there is a special pointer on the tool, and I told about it in the video). Next, the tool starts and moves smoothly, you do not need to press hard, as this will damage the ends a lot, drive gently and calmly from start to finish;

When cutting along the grain, there are practically no scoring, so try to cut the sheet so as to cut the material across the material less.

  • The squares prepared in this way must be carefully examined to determine if everything is in order with the ends, if there are seizures in some places - it's okay, they can be easily eliminated with sandpaper. The two pieces that will go to the legs can be immediately processed to remove scuffs and level the surface, they can be set aside for now;
  • Then you need to make the other two elements rounded, you can use a compass or a stud, a string and a pencil to draw a circle, but we decided to just round the corners. Any suitable object will do for marking - I used a plate, but you can use something else. The main thing is to carefully apply the mold to the corners and draw rounds;

  • With the help of a jigsaw, the elements are given the desired shape, it is important to walk exactly along the line and not get lost, since it is difficult to correct the flaws later. Do everything carefully and slowly, the work is not difficult, but requires care and a firm hand;
  • After cutting, you need to align the ends, for this it is taken with sandpaper, with its help all burrs are removed, and the protrusions that inevitably form during cutting are rounded. It is important to carefully process all the edges so that your table later looks neat and beautiful;

When sanding the ends, move the sandpaper along them, if you do it across, then new scars and chips will form.

  • Now you can take up the manufacture of supporting elements, for this you need to make grooves on them half the height of the supports. In our case, the depth is 25 cm, and the width is 12 mm - on plywood, we measure out the middle, and put marks on both sides with an indent of 6 mm. Then we measure 25 cm down and put marks in the middle of the sheet in the same way, then we connect the points and get the profile of the future groove, it should be the same as in the photo;

  • The groove is cut in the same way as in other cases, only here you do not need to go all the way, but stop at the marked point. To delete extra element, you need to use a chisel or a hard sharp knife - cut the plywood along the line and break the unnecessary piece. Next, you need to clean the edges in the cutouts so that they are also even and smooth;
  • When the supports are ready, you can assemble them, for this one part is placed on the ground with the groove up, and the second is turned over with the groove down and inserted into the lower one. If everything is done correctly, the parts will perfectly fit together and form a strong and stable support for our table;

  • Then you need to put the countertop on top, it should fit perfectly in the width of the elements. It is important to expose it as evenly as possible, since it directly depends on this appearance products - surfaces are aligned with each other exactly and any displacement is extremely undesirable;

  • Then you need to nail the tabletop to the supports, for this, finishing nails, a small hammer and a doboiner are taken so as not to damage the surface. Expose the stud 4 cm from the edge and see that it goes in the middle of the leg. After that, hammer it almost to the end, and then attach the doboiner and drive the hat flush with the surface;

  • Last of all, the structure is turned over and the base is nailed, everything is done in the same way as in the above paragraph.

Product decoration

Naturally, using an uncovered table is not best ideaso I'll show you how to make it attractive. Consider the option using wood stain:

  • First of all, the surface is cleaned of dust and sanded with fine sandpaper in the presence of flaws and scoring;
  • Then the surface is covered with the first layer of stain and left to dry;

  • After drying, you need to walk over the surface with fine sandpaper (1000 or more), so you remove the pile, which will inevitably rise, and make the surface smooth;
  • Then you can apply varnish, or you can apply another layer of stain to make the surface darker, and then cover the table with a protective compound.

Output

This table looks great and can be used both in the apartment and in country house, if desired, you can install the shelves in the middle, and attach the wheels from below, then the structure can quickly move to the required place. There is not so much work, but the result is excellent. Be sure to watch the video in which I showed the most important points workflow.

Plywood is a material undeservedly offended by furniture manufacturers. It is environmentally friendly, has high wear resistance and durability. Despite the low cost, manufacturers continue to give preference to even cheaper, but short-lived chipboard.

Of course, you can order plywood furniture, but why not make a set of it yourself? Such a new interior design will be exclusive, in which you can show all your imagination. In addition, for this you do not need to become a carpenter at all: a minimum of tools and skills are enough.

How to choose plywood?

The extremely easy-to-use material as if encourages creativity and experimentation. Despite its strength, plywood is easy to cut and design. The sheet can be given any desired shape: it bends and will not break.

Plywood is a number of veneer sheets glued together. As a rule, birch or coniferous trees are used, and inside the sheet can be from coniferous, and outside - birch. More expensive and quality plywood made from hardwood.

When choosing plywood, pay attention to the following parameters:

  • The brand is responsible for the scope and moisture resistance. For furniture, sheets of the FK, FOF and FKM brands are suitable. The second option - film faced plywood, is the best, but it costs more than others.
  • The variety characterizes the appearance of the surface. Measured from IV to I, E is the highest grade. Each side has its own designation.
  • Surface treatment. As in the previous case, it is determined separately for the parties. The designation Ш1 means the presence of grinding on one side, Ш2 - on two. SHN - surfaces have not been sanded.
  • The formaldehyde content is designated by the letter E with an index from 1 to 3 and characterizes the degree of environmental friendliness.

You also need to pay attention to the quality of gluing veneer sheets, the quality and type of wood, the appearance of the sheet. Plywood has an interesting texture and pattern that you don't need to cover with an additional layer of paint. It is worth giving preference to manufacturers from Russia.

Tools

What tools can a novice carpenter need? Plywood does not require complex special equipment. Most necessary tools everyone has.

A ruler, compass, tape measure and square are needed to take measurements and build a drawing.

The choice of sawing tool depends on the thickness of the sheet being used. Sheet thickness up to 1.5 mm is enough sharp knife, up to 6 mm a jigsaw is needed, for the thickest sheets a circular saw is required. You will need a drill to drill the holes.

A chisel, a plane, a chisel, a file and sandpaper are useful for processing parts. Connect the parts with glue, nails and screws. Stock up on tools to work with them.

The choice of fittings depends on what exactly you are going to do. Don't be stingy: quality fittings will last longer and will not let you down at the most inopportune moment.

Stages of work

Making plywood furniture with your own hands begins with building a drawing. You can use both ready-made drawings and draw your own. Take measurements of the room, calculate the dimensions of each part. Be extremely careful not to spot the error when it's too late.

Transfer the details to the prepared sheets. Cut the blanks with a suitable tool. Details are sanded, varnished or painted, and carved. If plywood has an interesting drawing, why not leave it? Get creative and don't be afraid to experiment.

The parts are connected with nails, screws or glue. Pay special attention to the details that take the main load.

After the glue is completely dry, check the resulting structure for strength. If the test passes, congratulations: the job is complete!

Ideas

Plywood is suitable for making almost any home furniture: wardrobes, tables and chairs, sofas and beds.

When assembling kitchen furniture use moisture-resistant and wear-resistant types of material. Don't forget about ventilation system and other communications: they should be freely accessible, but when they are not used, it is better to hide them from sight. Pay special attention to mounted and corner cabinets, as they require precise calculations and care when assembling.

Plywood is ideal for creating children's furniture. Environmentally friendly clean material safe, and due to its durability it will "endure" the games of the most active and restless child.

For the cabinet, select plywood of sufficient height and length, since you need to use a solid sheet. Thickness also plays an important role: the larger it is, the stronger the structure will be. When calculating the parameters of the side walls, take into account the thickness of the doors. The bottom of the bed must be at least 18 mm thick. A bar should be used for the frame.

Plywood makes a practical and inexpensive summer cottage kit.

Despite the simplicity of working with the material, a beginner should not immediately take on complex projectrequiring experience. Start with something simple: a table, a chair. A rocking chair is considered the classic first job.

It is not recommended to cut plywood across the grain. If necessary, make several cuts parallel to the future cut - this will avoid cracking. Moisten the surface of the plywood and fix in the desired position for 10-16 o'clock: this will give it the desired shape.

Thick plywood sheets (over 10 mm) should be handled like wood. When working with softwood plywood, use nails and screws with washers to avoid damaging the sheet.

At the joints of the parts, holes must be drilled in advance. The same applies to holes for fittings. Before gluing, the parts must be sanded. The cutting site is processed with sandpaper.

There will be a lot of dust during work, so it is better to work in a separate room. If this is not possible, protect the furniture with covers in advance.

If you've never worked with blueprints, search the internet for furniture blueprints. Even if you can't find a suitable one, you will get a general idea of \u200b\u200bhow to draw it correctly.

Get inspired by photos of plywood furniture. Perhaps you will like some idea?
