Stapler for upholstered furniture. Electric stapler: manufacturer reviews

A construction stapler is a relatively simple, but at the same time multifunctional tool. It is loaded with staples or nails, with the help of which various materials are nailed, for example, film, chipboard, lining. At its core, the device is more powerful analogue of a stationery stapler. There are products on the market that use for their work various sources energy. In order to choose the right tool among the whole variety of modifications, you need to know the advantages and disadvantages of each type, as well as take into account the nature of the work ahead.

The construction stapler has many other names due to the different fasteners used and functional features, the main of which are as follows:

  • staple gun;
  • nailer;
  • staple gun;
  • tacker;
  • stapler.

In any case, the device performs the following tasks:

  • connects identical parts to each other, while the brackets are bent;
  • joins together different materials, for example, plastic, plywood (nails them).

The staple gun is widely used among furniture makers, builders, decorators. The device can be easily held in one hand during operation. In practice, it replaces the hammer, while the efficiency and productivity of labor increase, and workers are less tired.

With the help of a stapler, the following work is performed:

  • lay the roof;
  • attach glazing beads to windows;
  • fix insulation, roofing material, film and similar materials;
  • fix wires and cables to the surface of different materials;
  • make drapery;
  • attach furniture upholstery and decor;
  • assemble or repair pallets;
  • perform facing works;
  • connect sheets of plywood, chipboard, OSB, fiberboard and other sheet materials to the frames.

A furniture stapler, like other types of tools, allows you to perform many more different work operations. In many cases, when you need to attach something, you can use a staple gun. The device is constantly used for upholstery surfaces different materials.

The main criterion for dividing staple guns into separate groups is the type of energy that underlies their functioning. On this basis, the following types of staplers are distinguished:

  • mechanical;
  • electrical;
  • pneumatic.

Each type of product has its own characteristics (pluses and minuses), which determine the area of application. Consider which tool is best suited for a particular type of work.

Mechanical Models

Mechanical type staple guns are products with the simplest device when compared with analogues. The mechanism works from hand force effects. The performance of the tool is low, but it is distinguished by relative durability and strength.

Design

Spring- this is the main structural element of the mechanical type of staplers. It can be spring (lamellar) or twisted type. If the tool is equipped with a spring of the first type, then it is considered to be of better quality, since its return is lower, and less noise is produced during operation. But devices with twisted spring mechanisms are cheaper. It should be borne in mind that the impact force of a mechanical tool is determined by the power of the spring installed on it: the greater its potential, the easier it is to hammer into the surface of the bracket.

One of the main components of the tool is also a mechanism that adjusts the breakdown force of the device. Adjustment is carried out by a switch or a wheel. Regulation ensures the adjustment of the product to the degree of hardness of the working material.

Some models have a re-strike mechanism: if during the first pressing the bracket did not completely enter the surface of the material, then it reaches the end with a second shock pulse.

In the machine tool magazine, you can insert such consumables:

  • U-shaped or U-shaped brackets different sizes(thickness, length, width of legs);

Staples can be inserted only one of any type or both, there are also modifications designed in addition to nails with pins. The latter option is more versatile and is more popular among builders. But in mechanical devices, the clip under the bracket is small, so fasteners are inserted only in a small amount. When performing work operations with solid materials, it is required to apply sufficiently large physical efforts.

Advantages and disadvantages

Mechanical devices are simple in terms of Maintenance : it is enough to periodically lubricate the working units. The regularity of applying the compositions is determined by the intensity of operation and is given in the instructions. At the same time, the simplest types of lubricants are suitable.

If we consider mechanical professional stapler, it is quite expensive, but it has a lot of power. This allows you to work with hard materials. Such models can withstand heavy operating loads. They are almost comparable to electrical and pneumatic counterparts in terms of performance.

The main advantages of mechanical staplers are their low cost when considering options for domestic use as well as autonomy. The tool does not have any batteries, hoses, power cords.

Among the three types of staplers, mechanical models are the lightest and most compact. This makes it possible to work in hard-to-reach places, as well as in uncomfortable positions.

electric tool

An electric stapler is more functional than a mechanical counterpart. useful work performed by an electric motor. Fasteners fly out after pressing the trigger. The impact force of the mechanism is also determined by the power of the installed spring, but only it is stronger than that of mechanical staple guns, so larger consumables can be used here. Working with power tools does not require much effort.

The product range is represented by network and battery models.

network models

For the operation of network staplers, a 220 V supply network is required. At the same time, the presence of a cord restricts freedom of movement, you often have to use an extension cord. There is also a chance that if the tool and the power cord are damaged, you will get electric shock. To protect against this, the electric stapler is equipped with a plastic case with rubberized grips on the handle, and its cord is made with two layers of insulation.

Compared to manual staple guns, the mass of electrical devices is much higher. So, the weight of individual modifications reaches 2 kg.

Electric versions of the middle price range usually fire from 20 to 30 shots per minute. This parameter is important for productivity.

Battery staplers

Cordless tools do not have these disadvantages. It is characterized by mobility, but weighs more than network models. Modifications with batteries can use fasteners up to 30 mm long. With one battery charge, you can make about 1000 shots (the rate of fire reaches 30). The weight of the devices is in the range of 1.7-2.5 kg.

Electric staplers for furniture and household use are more expensive than mechanical tackers, and battery models are even more expensive. Battery staplers will cost significantly less if you purchase them without a battery with a charging unit.

Additional functions

Electric professional stapler has a number of accessories and functions:

  • device for getting stuck fasteners;
  • the ability to control the impact force;
  • a protective mechanism that prevents the possibility of performing an involuntary shot;
  • the possibility of carrying out two brackets of impact and controlling the frequency of the pulse;
  • the shot is carried out by pressing the tip of the tool on the material.

Household models are only partially equipped with these functionalities.

Pneumatic devices

The pneumatic construction staple gun is the most powerful tool of the previously discussed devices. At the same time, the pneumatic stapler is arranged simply. It is characterized by durability, it is not difficult to operate. Tool maintenance consists of periodic cleanings.

Device

Nails with staples fly out under the action compressed air energy. There are no springs in this mechanism. Its main working unit is a pneumatic cylinder, inside which compressed air supplied with a pneumatic valve.

To operate a pneumatic stapler, you need a compressor or a cylinder containing compressed air.

Industrial equipment also needs power supply. Energy can be taken from the network or from a battery - the latter option is more autonomous.

Operating pressure is the most important parameter. It differs in different models. The average value of this parameter is from 4 to 8 bar. Also, a pneumatic-type nail-staple gun is characterized by air consumption for a single shot.

In practice, the following types of pneumatic products are used:

  • stationary, where air enters when the pedal is pressed;
  • manual, where the flow of compressed gas is provided by pressing the trigger.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of pneumatic tools, in addition to power, is its high performance: rate of fire - 1 shot per second. In this parameter, the products are superior to electrical with mechanical. In terms of mass, manual pneumatic devices correspond to manual models (its value is about 1 kg). The tool has a compact size.

The pneumatic tool can work with staples up to 50 mm in size. It is also designed for finishing nails and medium-sized fasteners, while the magazine holds a large number of them.

A pin-staple gun powered by compressed air, in addition to the functionality of electric models, also has its own characteristics:

  • blocking system;
  • fastener jamming device;
  • the possibility of multiple strikes;
  • two ways of starting (separate and contact);
  • impact adjustment.

Some inconvenience during operation brings a high-pressure hose from a compressor or compressed air cylinder: movements are limited. The compressor unit can also work noisily, which affects the general condition of users.

The weak point of compressed air products is O-rings. They wear out fairly quickly, but replacing them is not difficult, and besides, they have a small price.

Pneumatic tools are mainly used in production and in small workshops. It belongs to professional equipment.

Criteria for choosing a stapler for home and professional activities

staplers for construction works conditionally divided into household, semi-professional and professional models. The difference between them lies in the greatly expanded functionality of the latter: the presence of a variety of settings, several operating modes, as well as a large operational resource. This leads to the fact that the price of a professional tool significantly exceeds the cost of a household one. Professional Devices can be used when professional activity, for home use is an expensive pleasure.

Products for the home often made of plastic. They have little workforce. Professional devices are the most reliable. They are made of metal (plain or of stainless steel). From plastic, they only have handle linings that soften the recoil.

Semi professional equipment occupies an intermediate place in terms of quality, as well as price. Products in this category are a good choice for domestic use. They have wide functionality that allow you to perform an extended range of work at home.

The general criteria for choosing construction staplers are:

  • the possibility of disassembling the tool body;
  • the dimensions of the fasteners used;
  • the location of the handle (the closer it is to the body, the more convenient it is to work);
  • the ability to perform regulation of the force of the punching mechanism;
  • Availability double strike(important when working with hard materials).

Each model of staplers is designed only for certain type and dimensions of fasteners: nails, studs or staples. This factor must be taken into account, as it shows the scope of the tool.

It is better to choose modifications so that they are suitable for fixing materials of different thickness: for lining, film, insulation, plywood and others.

Mechanical staplers are the most affordable option to apply at home. Models equipped with a twisted spring are the cheapest. The possibilities of mechanics are sufficient for many operations. It is recommended that a mechanical type furniture stapler (and indeed any) have collapsible structure. This will make maintenance easier.

If you need to do relatively large amounts of work at home, then it is recommended to use a more expensive and functional power tool - this will save time and effort. When autonomy is important, battery or mechanical models are suitable. As for battery models, it is required to prefer modifications with high-capacity batteries that can be quickly charged. It is good when the equipment contains spare batteries.

Before you buy a stapler, you must also consider the availability of features that ensure the safety of working with the tool.

Overview of popular models in different categories

Construction staplers are produced by well-known manufacturers of construction tools, for example:

  • EINHELL;
  • SPARKY;
  • Bosch;
  • METABO;
  • STURM;
  • NOVUS;
  • Intertool.

The rating of products of these brands has been very high for many years. Among the manufacturing countries, the highest quality staple guns are produced in Germany and Japan. When asked to "advise which stapler to choose for domestic or professional use," you can confidently point to the products of the listed companies in the corresponding category.

The model according to customer reviews in 2017 ranks first in the popularity rating among budget options . Like all products from STURM, the tool is distinguished by high-quality assembly, as well as component parts. The driving force is the energy of the electric current. The model is connected to a stationary network with a voltage of 220 V. This power tool works with staples and nails, but of small sizes (6-10 mm and 8-14 mm, respectively). For domestic use, STURM ET4516 is a good option.

  • impact force adjustment function;
  • ease of operation and maintenance;
  • simple design;
  • the possibility of using different fasteners;
  • low price (about 750 rubles).
  • the small size of the fasteners, which limits the scope of the device;
  • working with a stapler requires a lot of time and effort compared to using electric and pneumatic models.

In order for the purchased stapler, for example, for furniture, to serve for a long time, you must use branded consumables. It is necessary to regularly clean the operated device from contamination, and lubricate the mechanical models. When choosing products, it is mainly required to build on the area of \u200b\u200btheir future application. Mechanical or electrical modifications of staple guns are suitable for everyday life. Professional devices can be purchased when there is a large amount of work to be done, especially on hard material.

Today we will talk about a very simple, but extremely necessary and interesting tool. And although he has a very narrow specialization, but at the same time performs "1001" operation. This tool is durable and functional, and by striking it creates. We hope that you guessed what we are talking about, of course - this is a stapler. When you need to fasten a pack of paper, we use a stationery stapler, and if you need to quickly attach carpet to the floor or drag furniture, then a construction stapler comes into play, otherwise, a tacker. How to choose a furniture stapler most suitable for a particular task, we will tell further.

Scopes of a construction stapler

The stapler has been leading its history since the 18th century. For the first time this tool was used in France for driving staples. And in the 19th century, in connection with the development of printing and printing, this amazing tool received a new round of development. In 1866, the mechanism for joining sheets of paper was patented, and a year later, a mechanism for joining thin brass sheets was patented.

The tacker or stapler received real recognition recently, when it began to be used in construction. It easily replaces the hammer, and does it very effectively. In addition, if earlier tackers shot the material only with staples, now they can drive nails and even mounting studs - pins.

What is a stapler capable of?

A modern tool performs two main types of tasks:

  • Nailing one material to another. As a rule, wood or its derivatives (plywood, chipboard, OSB), plastic act as the basis, but everything that the stapler can pierce is attached to the base.
  • Stitching equivalent parts with a staple bend. The connection is very reliable.

The stapler fell in love with furniture craftsmen and decorators; the tool is widely used in production and construction. Here are just some of the operations that can be performed using a miracle tool:

  • Drapery.
  • Fixing furniture upholstery and structural elements.
  • Fixing canvases, reproductions, posters on frames.
  • Installation of roofing felt and shingles.
  • Surface cladding with various materials.
  • Nailing sheet materials (chipboard, fiberboard, OSB, tin, plywood, foil) to frames.
  • Installation of insulating materials, heaters, films, membranes.
  • Assembly of floors from grooved boards.
  • Fastening glazing beads to windows.
  • Production of modules, crates and subsystems.
  • Fixing carpets.
  • Installation of film greenhouses and greenhouses.
  • Laying of power and low-current electrical cables.
  • Drywall stitching.
  • Exposing the perforated corner.
  • Assembly of pallets and packaging frames.

With all the above features mechanical stapler may not be able to cope, but an electric or pneumatic tacker is much more productive. Therefore, below we will consider how to choose a construction stapler, depending on the task.

Tool Benefits

Due to the unique design, the construction stapler has a lot of advantages:

  • Nailing materials to each other does not take much physical strength.
  • Installation takes a minimum of time compared to working with a hammer.
  • When working with the tool, one hand remains free and it can support the material.
  • High degree of security. All sharp parts of the tool are hidden inside the box. For non-mechanical devices, a fuse system is used.
  • There is no need to press down on the tool. This is very convenient when working in an unstable position, such as standing on a stepladder.
  • Possibility of use in inconvenient and hard-to-reach places.
  • The springy part is easily nailed. If the part to be nailed is springy, then the tacker can easily handle it, unlike a hammer.
  • Precise and precise impact transmission does not damage the workpiece, e.g. when glazing.
  • The tool does not vibrate, so no chips or scratches will appear on the surface.
  • Multifunctionality. Consumables can be varied: staples, nails, self-tapping screws, so that the functionality of the tool is diverse.
  • Reliability, durability, due to the small number of moving parts.
  • Ease of operation and maintenance.
  • Consumables are not subject to corrosion.

Types of staplers

There are three main types of instrument:

  • Mechanical stapler.
  • Electric.
  • Pneumatic.

Which one to choose a construction stapler, it is better to decide based on specific needs.

Mechanical stapler - an inexpensive classic

This is the easiest option for constructively. It was this type of tacker that home craftsmen liked. It has only three details:

  • Lever arm.
  • Spring.
  • Frame.

Principle of operation: by squeezing the lever with muscle power, we cock the spring mechanism. Straightening, the spring clogs staples or nails.

Important! The mechanical stapler is best option for household needs. With it, you can make minor repairs, collect new furniture after delivery from the salon and use for other “household details”.

Advantages of a mechanical tool:

  • Simple construction.
  • No special skills required during use.
  • Has no wear parts.
  • Simple care. All that is needed for a mechanical tool is to lubricate it with a simple lubricant from time to time.
  • Absolute autonomy. The tool is always ready to work, it does not need hoses, batteries and accumulators.
  • Lightweight, compact.

What to look for when choosing a tool?

  1. The mechanism of double impact (repeated shot) will not be superfluous for a mechanical tool. It is used when the staple is not fully inserted into the surface of the material. This function makes it possible to make an additional impulse on the unfinished bracket. The consumable feed mechanism is disabled in this case.
  2. To crawl into a hard-to-reach place with a stapler, choose a tool with a protruding spout.
  3. If you're looking for a tool that works with both straight and rounded staples, look no further than the Universal Tacker. The tool can also work with small nails and pins.

Electric stapler - fast, reliable, but more expensive

Unlike a mechanical tool, an electric stapler is much more functional and stronger, since the entire hard work the motor does it for us. An electric stapler has all the advantages of a simple stapler, except of course autonomy, since an outlet is required for its operation. The battery can solve the problem, but there is a problem with mass and capacity.

Important! The power of the electric tool reaches 1500 W, which allows you to hammer equipment to a very large depth.

To protect against electric shock, manufacturers use plastic casings, and the handle has rubberized lining. The power cord and motor winding are double insulated.

The main components of the electric taker and the sole are made of metal, which affects the functionality and durability of the tool.

Advantages

Let's note the advantages of the tool:

  • Functionality.
  • High performance.
  • The speed of operations.
  • High fixation security.
  • Possibility to drive to great depths.
  • Durability.
  • Various adjustment of impact force: smooth, stepped.
  • Protection against accidental start.
  • Pulse frequency control.
  • There is a device for removing fasteners.
  • Possibility of automatic multiple strike.
  • Possibility of hitting with two staples.
  • The shot is fired by pressing on the tip.
  • There are depth sensors.

Disadvantages of an electric stapler:

  • High price.
  • The working space is limited by the length of the cord. A solid length of the supply cable - 5 meters or more, is considered a good manners rule.

Important! The weight of any electric model is greater than the mass of a mechanical counterpart. The weight of an electric tool sometimes exceeds 2 kg (add the mass of the engine here).

  1. When choosing a device, first of all, it is necessary to build on the rate of fire, that is, the maximum number of pulses in a certain time. Models of the middle price segment make 20-30 shots per minute. This is an indicator for the average model.
  2. If you decide to choose a furniture stapler with a rechargeable battery, then pay attention to the capacity and speed of a full charge of the battery. Great if the device model has a second power block or it can be replaced with another battery from the same manufacturer.

Pneumatic stapler

The tool is powered by compressed air. All tasks are performed simply with lightning speed. This is a very powerful stapler, it is not surprising that such a tool is a relative of the “monster” that hammers mounting pins into steel and concrete or huge nails (up to a hundredth size) into wood.

There is no main spring in the pneumatic stapler mechanism, and the work for it is performed by a pneumatic cylinder, to which air is supplied from a pneumatic distributor controlled by a pedal (in a stationary tool) or a trigger (in a manual version).

Important! Despite its power, the design of the technique is quite simple. The stapler is easy to maintain, it only needs to be cleaned occasionally. The tool is durable, the only part that can fail is the o-ring. But rings are cheap and easy to replace.

Advantages of the tool:

  • Instant fixation, regardless of the density of the base.
  • Easy to use and maintain.
  • High rate of fire. A gun that clogs one staple per second is the norm.
  • The average weight does not differ from a mechanical tool and much less than an electric one. The weight of the pneumatic stapler is within 1 kg.
  • Compactness.
  • High performance.
  • High rate of fire.
  • Works great with long and wide braces.
  • The presence of a blocking system.
  • Contact and separate start.
  • The ability to adjust the impact.
  • Multiple strike capability.
  • There is a mechanism against jamming staples.
  • Removable filter.

Device disadvantages:

  • Together with the stapler, you need to buy a compressor.
  • Limited range dependent on hose length.
  • Compressed air is required, and for some models a separate power supply line (for industrial).
  • Suitable for stationary use only.

Important! Pneumatic staplers are increasingly being used in small workshops, furniture factories and construction sites, where workers have their own equipped places, because neither the compressor nor the stapler will have to be moved anywhere. All operations will be carried out with lightning speed, and the staples will clog tightly. Pneumatic staplers are considered the best in terms of performance.

What is the best construction stapler?

Regardless of the choice of tool - mechanical, electric or pneumatic, be sure to pay attention to the type and size of equipment (brackets). It is this parameter that indicates the true purpose of the tool.

Consider the main types of construction staplers, and for what work they are suitable, it is easy to determine.

Classic tacker

Suitable for home renovation. It has a mechanical impact mechanism. It is started by pressing the lever. Fasteners: flat type nails and staples.

Important! It is difficult to work with such a tool for a long time, as the hand gets tired.

cable stapler

Used for fixing on walls, skirting boards, furniture electrical wires with a diameter of 4.5-7.5 mm. Voltage is allowed no more than 50 volts.

Important! Such a tool is usually used when laying communication equipment or a local area network.

Packing

The tool is necessary for working with corrugated cardboard boxes. Staples hold paper together much more securely than tape. This stapler is of two types: mechanical, pneumatic.

window stapler

Works not with staples, but with metal studs. mechanical device can hammer studs no more than 1.5 cm long, and electric - up to 2.5 cm, pneumatic - up to 5 cm. The length of thin nails depends on the type of taker.

staple hammer

A hammer-shaped tool is used on the roof when laying roofing material or for insulating the base of the floor. It is advisable to choose a construction stapler of this type to be used where speed of work is needed. Staples are clogged with each blow of the hammer on the material. The fastening of the brackets occurs due to inertia.

Stapler for staple-corner

A tool is used when you need to fasten two parts at a certain angle, for example, a frame for a photo or a picture. This type of tacker is shaped like the letter “V”.

Impact strength

If it is necessary to determine which construction stapler is better, then the impact force becomes the defining characteristic. If you choose as a whole, then mechanical models have the smallest impact force, and pneumatics have the most powerful one.

But if you choose between two models, then you can calculate the impact force by the largest brace that the tacker can score. For example, in technical passport the length of the bracket is indicated from 4 mm to 14 mm. You should be interested in the maximum value, because it determines the force of impact.

Important! If you have two models in front of you and the length of the bracket varies from 4 to 10 mm for one, and from 4 to 14 mm for the second, then it is naturally preferable to take the second model.

However, it must be remembered that the maximum staple also depends on the material being processed.

Important! For example, staples 14 mm long fit just perfectly into soft pine, but into oak wood, well, if you manage to hammer in the bracket by 12 mm. With increased hardness of the material, the impact force becomes much weaker, and the depth of staples is less. This must be remembered in order to choose the right construction stapler for specific needs.

  1. If you need a tool for household chores, then choose a model that can drive a staple of 12 mm or a little more. This will be enough.
  2. Use only "branded" consumables to extend the life of the tool.
  3. When choosing a stapler, pay attention to the capacity of the magazine. The more consumables it includes, the less often you have to fill new ones. This is especially true if there is a large amount of work to be done.
  4. When buying a tool, pay attention to the size of the handle. The length of the handle should be approximately equal to the width of the palm - then a slight pressure will be provided.
  5. If you are going to not only work with the tool at home, but also transport it, then purchase a case for storing the stapler. It is better to purchase a model in a branded case so that the tool is easy to store and transport.

The cost of a construction stapler directly depends on its type. So choose the device for your needs:

  1. If you are looking for a reliable assistant for household needs and cosmetic repairs, then inexpensive mechanical models are at your service.
  2. For a private home or for work “on the road”, buy an electric model.
  3. And if you want to start your own business, then you should invest in a quality pneumatic tacker.
  4. Each model is good in its own way and has its own specific characteristics that are not characteristic of the other model. Happy shopping!

A stapler is a stationery device designed to fasten sheets of paper. metal staples. The sphere of use of the tool, today, has expanded significantly: it is used in furniture production, in construction and, as before, in the office.

Furniture stapler applied not only in the furniture industry. It is suitable for bonding material of medium hardness. Staples pierce the fastened material, with the help of a stapler they are bent, forming a kind of lock.

Staples come in different sizes and are made from different materials. stapler happens different types, they call it differently among the “people”: a stapler, a staple gun, a tacker, etc. This tool is used by summer residents. When building a greenhouse, they need it to fix the film.

Before buying a stapler, you need to have an idea what it is for and how it works. Depending on the purpose for which the instrument is purchased, its type and corresponding parameters are selected.

Furniture staplers are:

  • manual or mechanical;
  • electric;
  • pneumatic.

Let's consider all the options in more detail.

Hand tool- completely mechanical, in order to work with it, you need to put a lot of effort. It is convenient because it is mobile and does not depend on electricity sources. It weighs much less than electric, which greatly simplifies the work. The main disadvantage of this tool is the use physical strength needed during work. If the volumes are small, then the task will be done, but if the volumes are large, then the hands will quickly get tired, and the task will be delayed due to frequent smoke breaks.

To start working with this tool, you need to charge fasteners in his store. The stapler must be brought to the place where the bracket will be, and press the handle. Attached with a bracket soft upholstery to the frame, sheets of chipboard or plywood are connected.

Construction of a mechanical taker very simple and understandable even for beginners. Breakdowns that often happen with electric and pneumatic tackers are excluded here.

The service life of such a tool with careful use reaches eight years. Such a tool in everyday life will justify itself, and will help you out for more than one year. Its price is quite acceptable.

Work with an electric tool can be carried out if there is a place to connect to the electricity network. The battery that comes with the tool can come to the rescue. The stapler is used for medium volumes of work, it can be done professionally. Knowing its positive characteristics, it is necessary to note the disadvantages. Among them is the already known weak impact force and low rate of fire. Its price is much higher than mechanical.

For large production use only pneumatic staplers. If we compare them with the two previous types, they are much stronger and more durable, but are not used at home.

Before you start working with it, you need to figure out how it works, adjust it if necessary. For this, unnecessary material is used, on which several trial shots must be made. With the help of the regulator on the tool, they achieve the desired result. After that, you can start the real work.

Choice

Before you go to the store to buy a tool, you need to answer some questions for yourself:

  • What is the purpose of buying a stapler?
  • What should it be?
  • How much money can he stand?
  • What quality should be for this price?

If we consider a mechanical device, then it the design is very simple. The tool is equipped with only three nodes:

  • spring;
  • lever;
  • body.

If you need just such a look, then when buying it, you need to pay attention to its body. He must be fixed with screws and not rivets. This makes it possible to clean the product on time, as well as eliminate minor malfunctions.

When choosing a device, you need to pay attention to the material from which the casing is made - it must be durable. Not bad when it is steel with an optional nickel, chrome or powder coating. Recently, more and more often you can find a product whose body is made of modern lung alloy. This is considered the best.

Preference is given to a mechanical model if the tool is bought for a home where small works. Such a purchase will delight every real owner.

If you regularly use this tool to work with furniture, then you need to consider a different look. It will not be possible to work quickly and efficiently with a mechanical taker, as the hand will get tired. Experts recommend to stop your choice on electric or pneumatic tacker.

The electric model of such a tool is more expensive, differs in quality and speed of work. To get started, just press the button. Special efforts are not needed here, not only a weak woman, but also a rather big child can work with such a tool.

The electric stapler is durable and fast, it can punch more than hard materials, get strong and reliable connections. When choosing a tool, the length of the cable is very important, because the boundary of its use depends on it.

A device with a battery is an alternative solution. Its disadvantage is too much weight, because of which the hands of the master will quickly get tired. Anyway, electric model products will cost much more than its mechanical counterpart. When buying a product for the home, you need to weigh the pros and cons. If you plan to use the tool in rare cases, then you should not spend a lot of money on it.

Pneumatic stapler used in production. Its performance depends on the air that is under pressure. It does the job quickly and weighs less than its electric counterpart. Along with the product, you need to purchase a compressor.

The pneumatic tool is a stationary installation, which is very expensive. The use of such a tool at home is simply unprofitable, but for the production of furniture - what you need.

Basic parameters when choosing a tool

This is impact strength. The smallest one will be typical for the mechanical model, and the largest one for the pneumatic one. Each model has instances that can clog staples better and worse. You need to pay attention to models that work with a long bracket. This will be an indication of the force of impact.

If you are offered two staplers to choose from, but one for 4-8 mm, and the second for 4-14 mm, then preference should be given to the second option. The thing is that you can reduce the impact force, but you can’t increase it in any way.

Security. Even the simplest furniture stapler can get hurt. To do this, manufacturers equip the tool with the following functions:

  • the stapler turns on only when it is pressed to the surface;
  • if the staple is not fully inserted into the material, then the tool is turned off.

3. Convenience of the tool. For prolonged use, the tool should have a comfortable handle. Depending on what surface to work with, there should be an impact force regulator. The viewing window will be very useful to observe the process of staple consumption.

Choice of staples

Simple staples can be filled into a furniture stapler, the depth of which is from 4 to 8 mm. They are used to perform simple tasks such as punching through paper or fabric.

Staples from 10 mm long used in semi-professional staplers. For some models, only type 140 staples, which are 1.2 mm thick, will fit. Their width reaches 10.6 mm. If type 53 staples are inserted into such a stapler, then it will immediately use 2 staples.

If you want to buy a stapler, ask what staples are right for your model, buy them with a margin.

Staples are semicircular, which are intended for clogging the cable.

Some companies make tackers that can use several types of staples. This is very important in the furniture industry.

Miscellaneous

To hammer staples into furniture at the same distance, you need mark up in advance. To avoid shrinking upholstery, you need to hold the material when shooting. In order to avoid difficult situations, you must regularly look at the number of staples that remain in the tool.

If the stapler remains idle for a long time, then it must be put on the fuse.

When working with any kind of stapler, you need to follow safety precautions that will save your hands, feet and nerves.

Stapler parts are made made of very durable plastic or metal(use aluminum). They are highly durable and designed for professional use.

Conclusion

To buy this item, you need to think carefully, weigh everything, because the purchase is far from cheap. It makes no sense to invest in a tool that you will use maybe once a year. And buying a cheap product for permanent work is just throwing money away; you need a reliable and durable tool.

Decide and make the right choice.

A furniture stapler is widely used in the household, with its help you can easily nail a greenhouse film, cover furniture with a cloth, and it will also come in handy in other situations. The variety of models will confuse an uninformed person, so in this article you will find useful tips on choosing how to use it, which staples are suitable for which models.

Home staplers are widely presented on sale, the first thing you need to pay attention to is the type of staple. The most popular and commonly used type of staple is type 53. Most models use type 53. This type has the following dimensions: bracket width 11.4 mm, thickness - 0.7 mm. Of course, you don’t need to know these sizes, you just need to know what staples your “pigalle” works on, their type.

The second is how deep the staples can be hammered.

Furniture pistols are simple (staples 4-8 mm deep, they are inexpensive). Most often made of plastic, intended for infrequent use. Only small staples are used, so only fabric or paper can be nailed to them. Cheap and unpretentious, the price is about 100 rubles. Like these ones.

There are also options 4-10 (staples from 4 to 10 mm inclusive). Such pistols are already made of metal, though there is no adjusting screw. Yes, however, it’s useless, 10 mm staples can be hammered without maximum adjustment. As a rule, staples type 53 are used.

Staplers 4-14 mm (very first photo in the article). The most popular and best selling. Made of metal, good quality.
Use staples 4-14 mm deep with 53 type. The main difference from others is the presence of an adjusting screw, with which you can increase or decrease the impact force. As a rule, if the bracket is more than 10 mm deep, then the screw must be tightened in the direction of increasing the impact force, otherwise the bracket will not fully enter the tree. A wide range of staple sizes (4,6,8,10,12,14 mm) will allow you to choose optimum depth to get the job done. Of the good models, the Zubr company can be distinguished - reliable and high-quality, the price is 330 rubles.

Also, from household models, it is necessary to single out a model with a type of bracket 140. It is thicker, has dimensions: a width of 10.6 mm and a thickness of 1.2 mm. If you load type 53 staples into a type 140 stapler, it will fire 2 staples at once. Therefore, it is so necessary to know the type on which the "pigalle" works. Most often, type 140 pistols support several types of staples, these are small studs and semi-circular brackets for clogging the cable. We can say that this is a universal option, which is a pleasure to work with. However, it does not support the most popular type 53 bracket. The Stayer stapler, shown in the photo below, supports 4 types of staples: type 140, type 300, type 500 and type 36. Its price is 650 rubles.

Shackle type 53

The most used, used in most staplers.

Rectangular
Shackle width 11.4 mm
Thickness 0.7 mm.
Dimensions (depth) 4-14 mm.
Sold in packs of 1000 pieces
There are 2 types: hardened (hard) and simple. Hardened are used for strong or glued wood (chipboard). Ordinary staples are 2 times cheaper, designed for soft wood.

Type 140

Powerful, thick staples are also used for attaching material to wood, plywood, chipboard.
Rectangular brace.
Width - 10.6 mm
Thickness - 1.2 mm
Sizes 4-14 mm
Packs of 1000 pieces.
The cost is higher than that of type 53 staples.

Type 36

Semicircular brackets for cable fixing.
Bracket width - 7.6 mm (you can pin a cable with a diameter of not more than 6.4 mm)
Thickness - 1.2 mm
Sizes - 10, 12. 14 mm

Type 300

Small carnations with a T-shaped cap. Are applied to fastening to a tree, daner, a chipboard.
Nail thickness - 1.2 mm
Sizes - 10, 12 and 14 mm.

Type 500

Carnations without a hat (like finishing). In general, it looks like a type 300, only without a hat.
Sizes - 10,12, 14 mm.

If you are doing furniture production and use the appropriate tool constantly in hard mode, then ordinary household models will not last long. Therefore, for such purposes, there are professional options. The RAPID tool proved to be excellent. This company specializes in the production of only furniture pistols, so they excellent quality. However, their cost is rather big, for example. A standard pistol for staples of type 53 costs 2200 rubles. However, according to customer reviews who have bought a couple of these models from us, they are very strong. Before that, they bought ordinary household ones, but they often failed. Therefore, it was decided to buy 1 professional stapler for testing - it survived 10 conventional staplers. As you can see, the difference is simply huge. For home use the usual inexpensive one, for example, the Zubr company, is quite enough.

How to insert staples

For those who have picked up a stapler for the first time, this can be a problem. But after the first time, you will immediately learn, nothing complicated. Here's a photo for you.

First, you take out the “staple pusher” with a spring from the pistol, then insert the staples with the tip down and push them in with the “springy thing” to the end until it clicks into place.

Preparing the stapler for work

Pull out the latch, which is located at the back of the stapler.
Insert the brackets into the special groove. Staples must be inserted with the tips down. (P)
Install the valve with the spring in place
The stapler is ready to use.

How to use a stapler

Firmly attach the stapler to the surface where you want to hammer the staple.
Without lifting the stapler from the surface, press the lever until you hear a characteristic sound. This action will require mechanical effort.
If the staple does not fly out, then it is stuck and you need to get it out by following the 4 steps of preparing the stapler for work.
Ready. The bracket was successfully hammered.

In order not to be injured by a furniture stapler, it is important to thoroughly understand how to use such a tool. If you are using a mechanical stapler, first adjust screw regulator. Adjustment should be made on the rough material by turning the knob from minimum to maximum. If the fastener does not enter the material from the first blow, then you will need to re-adjust your furniture stapler, and if it does, then you start working on the “clean”.

To drive staples at the right distance, it is best to mark such places in advance with a pen or pencil. You can also use a latch, which must maintain the same distance when driving in fasteners without prior marking.

Don't forget to also hold the material while making shots so that the material cannot move out when the staple is driven in. Do not forget to also monitor the presence of staples so as not to be left without them at the most inopportune moment for you.

When the tool is not in use, secure the handle with the safety lock. That's how it's supposed to be for safety reasons. When performing these simple recommendations, you can easily handle the upholstery of a sofa or other necessary task associated with a furniture stapler, the price always depends on the type of tool and its manufacturer.

Construction stapler repair.

Previously, upholstery work was carried out mainly with a hammer and small nails, but now? Take a soft stool or look at the back surface of the sofa - most likely, you will not see nail heads there, only neat metal "stitches" - staples. New and unusual until recently, staplers are marching triumphantly across the tool market today. Many modern models even "learned" how to work with small nails. So down with hammered fingers and naughty little nails! Give performance!

Seriously speaking, many types of work with a stapler are much more convenient to perform than with a hammer. Firstly, most often one hand is occupied (the second one can correct the sewn material at this time), and secondly, the speed of operations increases incomparably - the bracket is "driven" in one movement.
When nailing something to wood, this tool has practically no equal. Simple examples: fastening to frames and surfaces of various canvases (draperies, posters, insect screens, canvases, etc.), fixing power cables, furniture upholstery, etc., etc.

TYPES OF STAPLERS

First of all, it is worth distinguishing between staplers (sometimes they are also called tackers) mechanical, pneumatic and electric. The last two types are designed for very large volumes of work and are industrial and professional equipment. In this review, we confine ourselves exclusively to mechanics. There is also an "internal" classification here, it corresponds to the tasks being solved and the appearance of the tools: Ordinary staplers as Supplies use flat staples or nails. To score "fasteners", you need to attach the tool to the surface and pull the trigger.

Cable models fix low-voltage wires (up to 50 volts). Cable diameter - from 4.5 to 7.5 mm. In accordance with this parameter, the design of the stapler is also chosen. Such tools are convenient when laying local area networks, installing all kinds of communication equipment, etc.

Hammer-shaped or staple hammers. They hit the material, and with each impact, another staple is clogged due to inertia. Significantly inferior to conventional and cable staplers in the accuracy of clogging, but they win in the "rate of fire". They are used for work where speed is important, not accuracy: for example, when fixing insulation under the floor or roofing material on the roof.

There are also combined, or universal staplers, which are a "hybrid" of the first two classes. Of the tools that participated in the test, only Stayer 31510 was such, but this does not mean at all that other manufacturers do not have products of this kind in their "arsenal".
Note that mechanical staplers are divided (sometimes very conditionally) into household (amateur) and professional. Here the differences are dictated by the very purpose of the tool: in the second case, the technique must have greater resource and better ergonomics, hence the rejection of plastic parts, a serviced (to be repaired) design. All this, of course, increases the cost of products.

EXPENDABLE MATERIALS

Usually, the term "type of bracket" means its thickness ("caliber"), although they also differ in width. The most popular "fastener" in Europe - 11.4 mm wide and 0.75 mm thick - belongs to type 53 (or A). On such brackets, we conducted a test for most staplers. However, in the general case, the choice is the widest: length (otherwise - size) from 4 to 40 mm, thickness from 0.7 to 1.65 mm.

What exactly to choose is determined by the intended task, the capabilities of your stapler and simple logic: the load on the attached material is higher - buy long staples, fragile substance (for example, a polyethylene greenhouse) - use "fasteners" with a greater thickness. To fix the wires, you need to know their maximum diameter.

"Save pennies to lose rubles" - this is approximately how you can describe the situation when dubious "consumables" are purchased for a branded instrument. Just in case, we recall that branded staples:

  • will not rust, as they are made of stainless steel or galvanized;
  • will allow you to appreciate the stapler, as they are made taking into account all tolerances and exposures (thickness, length, angles, etc.), well sharpened, correctly glued into a slipway, etc.;
  • provide a guarantee (a prerequisite for warranty service is the use of original consumables).
  • TEST CONDITIONS

    We tested mechanical staplers from various manufacturers that work with a flat staple. In the review, professional models are adjacent to household ones, but, despite the fact that the results they show are often similar, we should not forget that in our study, due to time and physical constraints, the most important indicator, the resource, remained unestimated. So use common sense when choosing: amateur instrument unlikely to last as long as a professional one.

    Our main interest in the models was to test their "functionality" on different materials. We chose pine (softwood), larch (hardwood) and chipboard. By the way, the latter is considered one of the most "impenetrable" materials for staplers.
    They drove staples of the most common type - 53 (provided by the Rapid representative office). For a change, we decided to try out the tools on two brackets: 10 mm long (one of the most popular) and 14 mm ( maximum size for the tested class of staplers).

    Two of the eight models that fell into our "field of vision" - Remocolor Force-NS and Stayer 31510 - are designed to work with a wider "fastener" with a flat profile and a thickness of 1.2 mm (it is most popular in the USA). This "couple" was tested on their respective "consumables" (provided by Remocolor). The size of the staples is the same - 10 and 14 mm.

    Arrow JT21CM

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: Type 53 staples, 4 to 10 mm long.
    IMPACT MECHANISM: spring.
    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 152x20x120 mm. Weight (without gear): 436 g.
    FEATURES: all-metal serviceable construction.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    DESIGN: it's a bit strange to classify this stapler as a professional stapler, but "you can't argue against the facts" - it's metal, and its case is serviceable, that is, it can be repaired. By the way, in the series to which the JT21CM belongs, there is also a plastic - household - model.

    Various staplers, staple hammers and other similar tools of the Arrow brand (made in the USA) are well known on the market, because the company focuses on the creation of such equipment. But, despite the variety of models, this one was chosen for the test, since it is the only one capable of working with type 53 staples (the rest are designed for the more popular in America - wide ones). Moreover, the "fasteners" of the 14th size are higher than the forces of the "baby", its ceiling is 10 mm. On such brackets, we checked the performance.

    The model is as simple as possible - which captivates. No adjustments and switches: charged - and work. At the same time, the simplicity of design and the absence of plastic parts provide the tool with durability.

    Using a spring to actuate the percussion mechanism should, in theory, result in more recoil compared to a "spring". However, due to the relatively low impact force, no particular inconvenience is felt. Apparently, for this reason, there are no rubber inserts on the body or on the handle.

    TEST RESULTS: work with 10 staples on soft wood was excellent - the grip angle is small, the effort to lower the lever is minimal, there is almost no recoil. The "fastener" fits tightly, and if you press on the impact part, it can even be sunk into the material.

    When working on hard wood, the stapler had to be pressed against the surface with the second hand, otherwise the “crossbar” of the staple barely touched the surface. Hence the conclusion - it is better to use shorter "consumables".

    It turned out to be impossible to work on chipboard with "tenth" brackets - even with strong pressure on the shock part, approximately two-millimeter gaps remain. In general, for such materials, a size of no more than 8 is preferable.
    If we talk about the tasks that the stapler coped with, then it is very convenient, because it is small and light. It is worth noting the best result in terms of distance to a perpendicular surface: using the JT21CM, you can drive staples close to the wall.

    SUMMARY: the most simplified model (even the lever is not fixed in any way in the lower position). For its class of tasks - the simplest fastening operations - the stapler fits perfectly, as it has minimum dimensions and weight and does not require much effort to "shot".

    Novus J-19 EADHG
    Professional mechanical stapler (provided by Ajax)

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: staples type A, D, H and G (corresponding to types 53, 53F, 13 and 140 according to Rapid classification) from 6 to 14 mm in length; type E nails (Novus classification) 16 mm long. IMPACT MECHANISM: spring; impact force adjustment (2-position lever switch); multi-hit mode; shockless lever release mode.
    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 190x27x180 (112) mm; width with extended distance stop - 33 mm. Weight (without equipment): 1024 g.
    FEATURES: serviced metal case with plastic elements; window for control of consumables; latch for fixing the handle in the lower position; safe reloading system (loading staples only upside down); distance stop for driving staples at the same distance; plastic hook for hanging on the belt.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    DESIGN: this stapler differs from its everyday "twin" - J-16 - only in the execution of the body. As befits professional tool, J-19 is made of metal, which provides a longer life compared to household models, "dressed" in plastic. It is a little strange that in this case there are still several plastic parts on the case. And if the material is not so important for the "shot" force switches and the multiple-shot mode, then half plastic handle and the clamp of the staple feeder cause quite justified fears.

    Very convenient are such "professional" functions as shockless release of the lever (you need to pull the handle out of the body and lower it down) and the possibility of fixing it in the lower position with a latch. The first turns out to be very useful when it is necessary to fold the "cocked" tool - you do not have to "shoot into the air" or remove the slipway. The second function provides a serious reduction in the dimensions of the model when it is "transferred" to the "transport" state: the height is reduced by more than one and a half times.

    Learn more about distance stop. There is a plastic part on the supporting surface of the stapler, which, when folded, does not protrude, but in the extended position creates a corner at a given distance (from 0 to 100 mm in 5 mm increments) from the striker. They can catch on the edge of the material and drive in "fasteners" at the right distance along a line parallel to the edge.

    A sharp nose with a striker, protruding 5 mm above the supporting surface, is convenient when you need to "crawl" somewhere.

    The reusable "shot" mode is implemented in the form of disabling the feed mechanism - the striker strikes "idle", usually on an unfinished bracket. By the way, the protruding nose also helps out here: by slightly pressing on the lever and thereby pulling the striker inward, we get a narrow window, place it above the bracket, and then the next blow will fall exactly on it.

    The stapler is equipped with a safe reloading system: the "magazine" cannot be pulled out until you turn the tool upside down. By the way, such a turn at the same time eliminates the loss of a strip of staples - it is simply placed on top in the opening groove.

    TEST RESULTS: the device coped well with all tasks. Even on the most difficult - the 6th - he was able to tightly drive the staples into the chipboard, however, for this he had to press the impact part with his free hand, otherwise there was a gap of about 0.5 mm.

    If you need to drown "fasteners" in chipboard, you can not do without the multiple "shot" mode. It was especially useful for the 6th task. For the rest of the tests, there was no need for it: it turned out to be enough to switch the stapler to the strong impact mode and put pressure on the tool. By the way, when switching from a powerful to a weak “shot”, the applied force noticeably changes.
    In general, the model is comfortable, the recoil upon impact is almost imperceptible. The grip angle is large enough, so you have to lean on the surface of the material and use your own weight (when working "on weight" the hand gets tired pretty quickly).

    SUMMARY: a professional model endowed with a large number of functions. There is also a multiple "shot" mode, and a remote stop, and an impact force switch. The stapler is convenient for large volumes of work, if it is possible to lean on the surface (for use "on weight" the grip angle is too big). Showed excellent results when tested on hard rock wood, which speaks of high strength hit. Suitable for the toughest jobs.

    Piranha X70005
    Household mechanical stapler (provided by Black&Decker)

    PURPOSE: driving staples and nails into wood; fastening to wood of various functional materials.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: type 1 staples (corresponding to type 53 according to Rapid classification) from 6 to 14 mm long; type 11 nails (corresponding to type 300 according to Rapid classification) 14 mm long.

    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 160x23x130 (112) mm. Weight (without gear): 566 g.
    FEATURES: serviced metal case with plastic elements; the possibility of fixing a collapsible staple-feeding mechanism; shock-absorbing rubber insert on the case; ring for fixing the handle in the lower position.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    CONSTRUCTION: Piranha specializes primarily in consumables for Black&Decker. The X70005 stapler is one of the few examples of a "self-sufficient" tool from this brand.

    This model quite simple, but in fairness it should be noted that in the Piranha assortment there is also a device that is closer to professional class. It is completely made of metal, while the X70005 has a screw for adjusting the impact force and parts of the staple feed mechanism are plastic. For all that, the case of this household appliance is serviceable, which means that if "troubles" occur, it can be repaired.

    To avoid arbitrary opening of the collapsible staple feed mechanism, the stapler is equipped with a special lever that fixes this assembly in the assembled state. In addition, as befits a "spring" model, it is equipped with a shock-absorbing rubber insert on the body. The element is clearly not superfluous - the return of such devices is stronger than that of "spring" ones.

    To improve the convenience of storage and transportation, the Piranha has a ring that fixes the handle in the lower position.

    TEST RESULTS: "fasteners" of the 14th size could be more or less acceptable to work only on soft wood, and even then, by pressing the stapler with both hands. In larch, such brackets were included, not reaching the "crossbar" to the wood; The 10th also did not provide tight contact. With chipboard, the situation is similar. So when working with this device on hardwoods and chipboard, it is better not to use "consumables" larger than 8 mm.

    The adjusting screw, which is responsible for the power of the "shot", rotates rather tightly, and does not give much choice in terms of impact force.

    Due to the compactness of the stapler, it is quite convenient to work with it, especially if there is support on the surface - then when pressure is applied to the lever, its own gravity helps. When working "on the air", the effort for the "shot" is quite large - the hand gets tired quickly.

    SUMMARY: household model convenient for simple operations. Staples of the maximum length are effective only when working on soft wood. For more complex tasks, it is better to limit yourself to 8 mm "fasteners".

    Rapid R353
    Professional mechanical stapler (provided by Rapid)

    PURPOSE: driving staples into wood; fastening to wood of various functional materials.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: Type 53 staples (Rapid classification) 6 to 14 mm long.

    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 176x24x152 (105) mm. Weight (without gear): 886 g.
    FEATURES: all-metal serviceable construction; shock-absorbing rubber insert on the case; ring for fixing the handle in the lower position.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    CONSTRUCTION: all metal, except for the rubber insert on the body, this professional stapler is part of the Workline series famous manufacturer- Rapid. The R353 model is a kind of her "visiting card": in order to form an opinion about the taker, it is enough just to hold it in your hands.

    The metal device, which has an impressive impact force, is nevertheless quite compact (if not elegant), and it weighs a little compared to similar professional counterparts. It is felt that the designers thought through every little thing. With the seeming simplicity of the stapler, it is functionally equipped with "according to full program": a simplified procedure for loading staples, a mode of non-impact descent of the handle and a control for the power of the" shot ".

    From other professional models, which also use a spring impact mechanism, this one is distinguished by the presence of a rubber insert on the body. Its task is to absorb recoil (and so small for such a principle of operation) and increase convenience when squeezing the stapler "on weight".

    TEST RESULTS: work pleasantly and comfortably. Thanks to a well-chosen grip angle with normal impact force, very little effort is required to "shot". At the same time, the compactness of the model allows you to tightly clasp it with your palm and press the lever without much tension, without leaning on the surface.

    Adjusting the impact force noticeably changes the effort required for the "shot". In the "maximum" position, you have to squeeze the stapler much more, but what is the result: on the 5th task, the staples fit tightly into the wood, even if you do not put pressure on the tool.

    With the 6th test, the R353 did well only if pressure was applied to the impactor. It was not possible to sink a 14-mm bracket into the chipboard, but it was not difficult to press it tightly to the surface.

    An interesting feature of the model is the uneven distribution of force during the stroke of the lever during impact. From experience it has been felt that the maximum force should be applied when the handle is already close to the body. In practice, this is very convenient, since it is easier to give out more force with a compressed brush than with a straightened one. This property is especially useful when working without support on the surface and in the mode of maximum impact power.

    It should be noted that, despite the value given in the table, minimum distance to the perpendicular plane may be less. It increases due to a protrusion (2-3 mm) on the front surface of the stapler at a height of about 30 mm from the striker. This remark is also true for some other models.

    SUMMARY: an excellent professional model. Compact and lightweight, it is not inferior to competitors in terms of impact force, coping well with all the tasks set in the test. Relatively small grip and actuation angles help minimize effort. The resource of the tool is very large, because all the parts are made of metal.

    Rapid R453
    Household stapler (provided by Rapid)

    PURPOSE: driving staples and nails into wood; fastening to wood of various functional materials.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: Type 53 staples (Rapid classification) 6 to 14 mm long; type 300 nails (Rapid classification) 14 mm long.
    IMPACT MECHANISM: spring; impact force adjustment (2-position lever switch); shockless lever release mode.
    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 175x30x150 (110) mm. Weight (without gear): 356 g.
    FEATURES: plastic case; metal handle; simplified loading of consumables; window for control of consumables; mechanism for fixing the handle in the lower position.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    CONSTRUCTION: The R453 is part of the red Rapid line - the Workline series. This model is classified as household only because it is made in a plastic case - this reduces the overall life of the stapler. But its weight is very suitable for amateur use.

    In all other respects, the R453 is similar to professional devices. The spring impact mechanism avoids strong recoil, so the body does not need shock-absorbing inserts. The handle of the stapler is completely metal, so its reliability is beyond doubt.

    Two functions - shockless descent of the lever and fixing it in the lower position by moving "from the body" - are also usually not characteristic of household models.

    Useful little things will come in handy. So, the loading of consumables is simplified: they are simply placed in the chute and pressed by the feeder. Through a special window for control, they monitor the presence of staples or nails.

    An impressive arsenal constructive solutions indicates that this device is serious and very convenient in everyday life.

    Rapid "ovskaya" color "breakdown into lineups simplifies the choice of consumables. The color of the packaging of branded Rapid staples will necessarily match the color of the stapler, and if it is metal, then the color of the rubber inserts on the case. So for R453 you need to purchase "fasteners" in red packs.

    TEST RESULTS: in testing, the model showed almost the same high results as the professional R353. Only with the 6th task, the stapler coped with difficulty: it was possible to achieve close contact between the staple and the chipboard only in the most powerful "shot" mode and when pressing the impact part with the second hand. By the way, on the 5th task, with the same reservations, the bracket was even recessed into the wood.

    In all other tests, the R453 is comparable in impact strength to powerful professional models.
    Ergonomics on highest level A: operate easily and conveniently. small angle capture does not require excessive effort to make a "shot". In addition, there is no need to lean on the surface, especially with the normal position of the impact force regulator.

    The only and insignificant complaint can be considered a rather loud click when the percussion mechanism is triggered.

    SUMMARY: household stapler, made in a plastic case. It is functionally equipped no worse than many professional models and is not inferior to them in terms of impact force. Excellent ergonomics make R453 recommended for the widest range of domestic applications.

    Remocolor Force-NS
    Household mechanical stapler (provided by Ormis)

    PURPOSE: driving staples and nails into wood; fastening to wood of various functional materials.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: staples type 140 (Stayer classification) from 6 to 14 mm long; type 300 nails (Stayer classification) 8 or 16 mm long.
    IMPACT MECHANISM: spring; smooth adjustment of impact force (screw regulator).
    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 175x20x175 (122) mm; back width - 25 mm. Weight (without gear): 664 g.
    FEATURES: work with a wide bracket; metal maintenance-free case with plastic elements; ring for fixing the handle in the lower position.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    CONSTRUCTION: This stapler works with a wide staple (1.2mm thick) in the same way as the Stayer 31510, so it was tested with original Remocolor staples.

    Taking into account that the model belongs to household class it has a number of attractive features. Firstly, it is a spring impact mechanism that reduces recoil. Secondly, the grip and actuation angles are well matched, in addition, the force transmitted to the lever is distributed over the entire surface of the handle, making it easier to work.

    With some exceptions, the structural parts are made of metal, which ensures the durability of the stapler. But it will not be easy to repair it if necessary: the body is maintenance-free - it is assembled on metal rivets.

    The model does not have any "bells and whistles". Of the useful devices - only a ring for fixing the lever in the lower position (so the stapler takes up less space).

    Adjusting the impact force gives tangible changes, primarily in terms of the force applied to the handle. As a note to the designers, let's say: for the weakest "shot" the screw must be unscrewed, and there are no restrictions on its movement. That is, it can be removed completely, and if careless - and lost.

    The protruding spout with a striker is convenient for work. Despite the relatively large distance to the perpendicular surface, in some cases the staples can be driven in almost closely.

    TEST RESULTS: on pine and larch (softwood and hardwood), the stapler showed excellent results. Even without pressing on the shock part, you can quite tightly drive the 14th staples into solid wood. If there is a desire to drown the "fasteners" in larch, you just need to put pressure on the stapler with your second hand.
    But on the chipboard, the work did not work out even with 10 staples. Press on the stapler, do not press, and it oppresses many "consumables". A test on staples of the 8th size showed that this is the limit of the Force-NS when working on chipboard.
    The return during operation corresponds to the apparatus with a spring mechanism - that is, small. At the same time, the adjusting screw allows you to vary the impact force in a fairly wide range.

    As a result, skepticism generated by the somewhat cumbersome appearance stapler, was completely dispelled during testing.

    SUMMARY: A household model that uses wide braces and has a significant impact force. When working on wood, it easily drives in "consumables" up to size 14 inclusive, on chipboard - up to size 8. Despite the large dimensions, the stapler is convenient and weighs quite a bit.

    Stanley HD14
    Professional mechanical stapler (provided by Svyaz-Komplekt)

    FEATURES: serviced metal case with plastic elements; window for control of consumables; mechanism for fixing the handle in the lower position; distance stop for driving staples at the same distance; plastic hook for hanging on the belt.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    DESIGN: both externally and functionally, this stapler is very close to the Novus J-19 EADHG model (it is in our review), differing from it only in the mechanism for fixing the handle in the lower position (to activate it, you need to pull the lever).

    Just like the Novus J-19, the Stanley HD14 has a plastic "brother" (Vario 14) for domestic use. However, the “professional” can also be complained about: the handle is more than half plastic (the metal rod of the lever inside does not even reach the middle), the latch of the staple feed mechanism also raises concerns, since it bends.

    Praise is worthy of the functionality of the device. Among the useful little things - a clip for wearing a stapler on your belt. Now, for example, standing on a ladder, it is much easier to correct the material before fixing with two hands.

    A narrow nose protruding 5 mm above the supporting surface helps to "crawl" into some hard-to-reach places. And on the striker you can see a slight thickening from one edge - this part of it hits the nails, which, when loaded, are pressed against the edge of the gutter.

    TEST RESULTS: Stapler operation was surprising at first. For example, the pressure on the lever is distributed so that in the lower position it is enough to slightly redirect the force to fix the handle. This is what happened at first (against the desire to continue the work). Having gotten used to it and slightly changing the angle of capture, you forget about this feature rather quickly, but when you change the staplers (which we did for comparison), you “get caught” again.

    The fixing ratchet of the distance stop is somewhat "loose": of course, it does not slip back, but the slightest push forward is enough to make the installation go astray, and the distance becomes smaller. You have to change the settings with two hands.
    Otherwise, it is convenient to work with a stapler. The impact force turned out to be quite enough to complete all the tasks, and only on the last two it was necessary to press the shock part to the surface in order to ensure a tight entry of the bracket. When recessing "fasteners" of the 14th size in a chipboard, the function of a reusable "shot" helped out.

    Adjusting the impact force on soft wood does not give noticeable results, but on hard wood it helps to avoid gaps and drive the bracket tightly. When working on pine (even in the case of 14 mm "consumables"), you can safely switch to a weak "shot" - this reduces the force applied to the handle and has almost no effect on the depth of entry of the "fasteners".

    It is much more convenient to work with a stapler when it is possible to lean on the surface and press with your own weight. "On weight", due to the large angle of capture, the brush gets tired pretty quickly (in this case, it is better to use the weak stroke mode).

    The recoil is almost imperceptible, which, however, is natural for a model with a "shot" spring mechanism.

    SUMMARY: A solid professional model with a powerful punch. Suitable Choice for serious work. The stapler is well equipped functionally: there is a multiple impact mode, and a mechanism for fixing the lever in the lower position.

    Stayer 31510
    Household mechanical stapler (provided by Masternet)

    PURPOSE: driving staples and nails into wood; fastening to wood of various functional materials; fixing low-voltage cables.

    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

    CONSUMABLES: staples type 140 (Stayer classification) from 6 to 14 mm long; type 300 nails (Stayer classification) 10 or 14 mm long; type 36 round staples (Stayer classification) 10 or 14 mm long.
    IMPACT MECHANISM: spring; smooth adjustment of impact force (screw regulator).
    DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 180x25x150 (113) mm. Weight (without gear): 800 g.
    FEATURES: work with a wide bracket; the ability to work with round brackets; metal serviced housing with plastic elements; shock-absorbing rubber insert on the case; ring for fixing the handle in the lower position.

    CONSUMER ANALYSIS

    CONSTRUCTION: in terms of dimensions and impact force, this model is comparable to the professional staplers that took part in the test. However, the 31510th is positioned as a household one, which allows it to feel very at ease among its "neighbors" - amateur devices.

    The versatility of the stapler is that it can drive not only staples and nails, but also attach the cable. The striker has a round depression in the middle, which, by the way, plays a positive role when hammering rectangular brackets, because such a striker falls just on the edges of the bracket. When working with nails, they can be supported both on the right surface of the guide chute, and on the left - the striker is symmetrical.

    Staples for this model need wide (1.2 mm thick). Cons - less common compared to narrow ones, pluses - greater convenience when performing certain tasks (for example, when attaching polyethylene to a greenhouse frame).

    The spring mechanism, through which the stapler works, has a greater return compared to the spring mechanism, so the presence of a rubber shock-absorbing insert on the body is very useful.
    With the exception of some parts, the device is made of metal, which ensures its long service life. It is noteworthy that his case is collapsible, and this is not typical of household models.

    TEST RESULTS: on simpler tasks, the impact part had to be pressed more often than with other amateur grade staplers. But with the last - the most difficult - task, Stayer did an excellent job. It was then that the original design of the striker made itself felt: the fact that the impact falls on the edges of the bracket, firstly, does not allow it to bend sideways, and secondly, ensures the contact of the "crossbar" with the surface even when working with 14 "consumables" "by chipboard. The edges of the "fastener" in this case enter the material a little deeper than the center, the bracket arches a little and fits quite tightly, although it does not sink into the chipboard. Of course, on the most difficult tasks, I had to put pressure on the impact part of the stapler - it’s impossible to work with one hand.

    The adjusting screw turns quite easily, but it doesn’t give a tangible difference in the power of the “shot”: neither the depth of immersion of the brackets nor the force applied to the handle change almost. Strong returns during operation are not felt, but still it is greater than that of models with a spring mechanism.

    The staple-feeding block must be disassembled only in a discharged state, otherwise, under the action of the corresponding spring, the strip of "consumables" flies out of the stapler. It's not dangerous, but somewhat unexpected.

    In a nutshell, the impression of Stayer 31510 can be conveyed as follows: a little bulky, but powerful and reliable tool.

    SUMMARY: household model, according to the characteristics close to the professional. Works with wide brackets, which is sometimes more convenient. Differs in powerful blow and "omnivorous" - is able to hammer in nails, flat and round staples. Suitable for complex tasks.
