Hello dear friends!

For many years I have been taking tincture of Potentilla root and will always take it, my reviews are only positive.

The unique properties of the plant help to treat the thyroid gland, first of all, they have such a powerful effect on it that it allows people to live normally without surgeries and hormones.

We'll look at today:

  • beneficial features and contraindications for Potentilla white
  • what does white cinquefoil heal
  • use for the treatment of the thyroid gland
  • how to make a tincture of Potentilla root and how to take it.

Where does white cinquefoil grow

In nature, there are a lot of types of Potentilla - a perennial herbaceous plant. But only white cinquefoil useful properties, a contraindication and the use of which we will consider, has flowers white why it is called that. And also it is sometimes popularly called five-fingered for the special shape of the leaves, similar to five spread fingers.

White cinquefoil - the plant is not tall, from 10 to 25 cm. Its flowers are somewhat similar to the flowers of strawberries or wild strawberries and it blooms at the same time: in April-June.

The root of Potentilla is white, creeping, rather powerful, woody and thick, with numerous shoots.

White cinquefoil grows in European countries, from Germany on the northern border of its habitat to Italy in the south, in Belarus, in the Ukraine and in the middle European part of Russia to the Volga.

It can still sometimes be found in forests, meadows and forest edges, although this type of plant is quite rare. Therefore, white cinquefoil is not harvested on an industrial scale and it is difficult to find it in pharmacies.

Some herbalists grow Potentilla on their household plots, it is from such people that I have been acquiring it for five years.

All parts of the plant have healing properties, but in to a greater extent they predominate at the root, and in a three-year-old plant, it is at this age that a sufficient amount of albinin accumulates in the roots.

Dig the roots of Potentilla in the fall.

White cinquefoil: medicinal properties

The plant is valued primarily for the high content of iodine and the active substance albinin (a compound that exhibits thyroid-stimulating and gonadotropic activity), which is why it is so useful for the thyroid gland.

These medicinal properties of cinquefoil were used to create the now popular drug "Endonorm".

It is known that in those areas adjacent to the site of the Chernobyl tragedy, where they drank a decoction of white cinquefoil like tea, there were very few cases of goiter in comparison with other places. And this is due to the thyrotropic activity of the Potentilla roots.

In addition, the plant contains many more substances that determine the unique beneficial properties of Potentilla white:

  • iodic acid anion
  • tannins
  • amino acids
  • rare minerals: silver, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, nickel, bismuth, cobalt, aluminum, silicon. Moreover, the concentrate of silicon, aluminum, zinc and magnesium in Potentilla is several times higher than the content of these minerals in other medicinal plants

White cinquefoil: contraindications

Let's talk right away about contraindications. There are few of them, white cinquefoil is non-toxic and suits almost everyone.

But since it is capable of lowering blood pressure, its use is not indicated for hypotension.

But this does not mean that people with normal pressure cannot accept it, no. I am one of those, in addition, I have a tendency to lower blood pressure. But I take tincture of white cinquefoil quite calmly all the time without any negative consequences... It happens, of course, that the pressure drops a little, I take measures and continue to take Potentilla. It is only important to observe the norm and take breaks between courses.

Although white cinquefoil is used for tachycardia and even for the treatment of this disease, this must be done with caution. If the condition worsens, the dosage should be reduced.

White cinquefoil: application in folk medicine

So, for what diseases is white cinquefoil used?

Reception of white cinquefoil is effective for:

  • diseases of the thyroid gland
  • atherosclerosis, heart attack and stroke
  • thrombophlebitis and varicose veins
  • arrhythmias
  • anemia
  • liver diseases
  • gastrointestinal colic
  • dysentery
  • stomach ulcer
  • jaundice
  • with menopause alongside
  • a decoction or infusion of white cinquefoil (its aerial part) has been used since the 18th century for the prolapse of the uterus
  • powder from dry grass and roots is sprinkled with abscesses and cuts.

The use of cinquefoil for the treatment of the thyroid gland

Already in the 17th century in Russia, white cinquefoil was used to treat the thyroid gland, and now all folk herbalists know about it and recommend it in their recipes.

Of course, after reading the information about the beneficial properties and use of Potentilla white, you do not need to self-medicate and you should definitely consult a doctor!

I just want to say that the use of Potentilla can not only be additional to that prescribed by the doctor, but also help to reduce the nodes, and in some cases avoid surgery.

An operation is always a risk. According to A.P. Evfemov, Candidate of Medical Sciences, which I read in his article on the treatment of cinquefoil, in 10% of cases thyroid surgery leads to disability, there are always high risks of damage to the parathyroid gland during it, after the operation, hypothyroidism develops and lifelong hormone therapy.

Medications prescribed by doctors to treat thyroid disorders often provide side effects on the body, in addition, many of them are contraindicated during pregnancy, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, the presence of nodes. Iodine preparations should not be used for thyroid neoplasms, kidney diseases, allergic diseases and pregnancy.

Therefore, people often turn to traditional medicine for help. Fortunately, this folk remedy exists - this plant is white cinquefoil.

According to the results of clinical trials conducted by the Ukrainian researcher GK Smyk. in 1970, people, even taking only one white cinquefoil, showed a significant decrease in the thyroid gland, normalized blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, disappeared thyrotoxicosis and tachycardia, improved sleep and normalized weight.

The medicinal properties of Potentilla white, which we have considered above, and allow it to be successfully used to treat diseases of the thyroid gland, both increased and decreased its function, with multinodular goiter.

Just keep in mind that there are no miracles, and a high-grade goiter cannot completely dissolve when taking Potentilla, although it can significantly decrease in size, and most importantly, the hormonal background is normalized and concomitant ailments such as shortness of breath and tachycardia are removed.

In addition, there is no need to think that you can only take an infusion of Potentilla and be cured. Treatment must necessarily be comprehensive, including and, and, and the reception of others.

Cooking a decoction of white cinquefoil

In the treatment with cinquefoil, both water infusions and decoctions, and tinctures on vodka are used.

... But there are also lesser-known plants, the healing power of which is no less than their stellar green counterparts, and in some ways even surpasses them. Behind the modest name "white cinquefoil" lies a powerful remedy for the most serious ailments - thyroid diseases, hepatitis, heart disorders ... What else is this rare herb famous for?

From the Ardennes to the Volga

To those who are unfamiliar medicinal herb Potentilla, the photo will show a charming flower with a low stem, white petals, a heart and a yellow core. The carved leaves of Potentilla, divided into 5 parts, reminded our ancestors of a human palm - this is how the plant got its nicknames "five-fingered" and "five-fingered".

White cinquefoil is a pampered European beauty who meticulously chooses habitats. She does not like excessive heat and the harsh northern climate, lives in the Central and Eastern Europe, from the Ardennes to the Scandinavian forests. In the European part of our country, you can also find white plantations of five-fingered - strictly up to the middle reaches of the Volga. It is sad to admit, but the main enemy of Potentilla is civilization. Endless European forests and fields are rapidly turning into agricultural land, and today wild medicinal herbs have become a real rarity.

Treasure of Belarusian Polesye

In Europe, since the 18th century, white cinquefoil has been known - its use helped to cope with ulcers and purulent wounds, and then - with diseases of the thyroid gland. For medicinal decoctions, ointments and tinctures, Potentilla roots (sometimes seeds and flowers) are used, which are harvested in late autumn. It is by this time that the thrifty plant accumulates the most useful substances.

And how many of these same substances are in the five-finger - you can't count! , all kinds of acids with tricky names, magnesium, copper, iron, iodine and the miraculous "anion of iodic acid" ... Today, many endocrinologists advise their patients Potentilla root - contraindications (which, we note, are practically nonexistent) and unique properties it can cure such serious thyroid diseases as thyrotoxicosis and various forms goiter.

In ecologically problematic areas and huge metropolitan areas, the endocrine system first of all comes under attack - in these conditions, sometimes it is the white cinquefoil that becomes a real salvation. So, in the Belarusian Polesie, where Potentilla was grown for a long time and they drank decoctions from it instead of ordinary tea, after a terrible Chernobyl disaster there were practically no cases of endemic goiter - growth of the thyroid gland due to iodine deficiency ...

What will white cinquefoil cure from?

Finding a rare white cinquefoil in pharmacies is quite problematic - the grass is listed in the Red Data Books of Belarus and several regions of our country. It is most often sold in specialized online drug stores and chain pharmacies. If you are lucky enough to find this plant on sale, do not miss the chance, because white cinquefoil is not only strong with iodine - it is important to know the use and contraindications of five-fingered palate for a variety of ailments.

Why is white cinquefoil so necessary in your home medicine cabinet?

  • Normalizes endocrine disorders, restores a full-fledged metabolism.
  • For women, Potentilla is a real lifesaver: it improves hormonal levels and relieves pain during menstruation.
  • Flavonoids and healing minerals in European herb work wonders for the heart and blood vessels: they increase the elasticity of blood vessels and dissolve small cholesterol plaques, improve blood composition and activate blood flow. As a result, the heart works faster and without interruption.
  • White cinquefoil is a good diuretic, and the herb does not irritate the kidneys and has no side effects.
  • It works well in complex therapy for liver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis.
  • Improves digestion, stimulates the intestines for chronic constipation, helps heal ulcers and cope with colitis.
  • An excellent antiseptic is also a white cinquefoil herb: its medicinal properties are especially manifested when applied externally. Potentilla decoction heals stomatitis, boils and abscesses, purulent wounds, dermatitis and even such an intimate problem as hemorrhoids.

Why is Potentilla dangerous?

Since the white cinquefoil is so good, it should have very serious contraindications - this logic is true for many medicinal plants, but not for the five-fingered. The only prohibition against using a European healer is hypotension.

The quinquefoil significantly lowers blood pressure, so be sure to consider this nuance before the course of treatment. And try not to drink Potentilla before a trip (if you are driving!), An exam or an important presentation - the grass slightly reduces concentration and can provoke drowsiness.

And do not forget about individual tolerance - although Potentilla is practically harmless, any course of herbal medicine should be approached as strictly as possible. Listen carefully to yourself and discontinue herbal treatments at the slightest warning signs.

The use of white cinquefoil

The outer parts of the five-fingered fingers are surprisingly rarely used in medicine: the absolute leader of medicinal charts is the root of Potentilla White! The use of roots can be very different - for example, in the form of decoctions.

Decoction

A decoction of white cinquefoil roots is a universal remedy, both for the treatment of internal sores and for external problems. The recipe is as follows: pour a glass of boiling water over a large spoon with a slide of quintuplet and boil it for 15 minutes (a low fire is needed). When the medicine has cooled down, filter it. You need to drink an hour and a half before a full breakfast-lunch-dinner on a tablespoon.

A decoction of European Potentilla is an effective and safe home remedy for angina, stomatitis. And it is also a full-fledged lip balm - if you lubricate lips cracked in the frost with liquid cinquefoil, they will heal much faster!
