How to connect a garden hose to a kitchen faucet. About connecting watering hoses How to put a silicone tube on a fitting

Filling a large bucket with water from a kitchen sink can become problematic: if it takes up the entire sink, it will become very heavy once filled. You can use the hose outside, but you can only dial cold water. You can get a bucket of water in the bathroom, but you still have to pull the bucket out of the bathroom. But there is a simple solution: just connect your garden hose to kitchen faucet and fill the bucket with water! Just a couple of twists and turns, which can be done quickly and easily. We will show you how to do it in a reliable way!

Hose connection

Take the faucet nozzle. This is a small nozzle that screws onto the faucet and connects the end of the faucet to a threaded garden hose fitting.

Get a faucet nozzle

Unscrewing the faucet head

Be careful not to drop the parts that are inside the faucet head. It's a good idea to put a towel in the sink to catch anything that might fall into it; The towel will prevent parts from falling into the sink drain.

Screwing on a new faucet head

Make sure it is tightly screwed to the faucet, there is no need to use any tools to screw it on tightly.

If the vacuum valve is not connected to your plumbing system, screw the hose-type vacuum valve to the hose threads before you connect the garden hose. vacuum valve hose type can be found at the hardware store. This will prevent the entry and spread chemical substances or Wastewater into the drinking water supply, if the hose is accidentally left (drowned) in a container of cleaning agents, chemicals, or dropped into contaminated, non-drinkable water.

Make sure the hose cuff is in place. The hose has a rubber or vinyl cuff that prevents leakage. Make sure the cuff is in the hose before connecting the hose to the faucet or you will cause a flood.

Screwing on the hose

The hose is screwed to the faucet nozzle. Make sure it is screwed on tight enough for the nozzle to act as a waterproof seal.

Unscrewing the faucet nozzle

Unscrewing the faucet head after using the hose. Unscrew the hose and faucet head, then screw back, also tightly, the faucet head to act as a waterproof seal.

Check for water leakage. The faucet may leak through the faucet head that is put back on if it is not screwed on as tightly as it was originally screwed on.

To prevent or stop leakage from the faucet head, first remove the faucet head, then make one or two turns of Teflon tape around the threads of the faucet, clockwise.

Pull the tape tightly around the thread section of the faucet, being careful not to let excess tape protrude where the water flows from the faucet, as the tape may obstruct the flow of water.

Screw the faucet head over the Teflon tape. Excess tape may be noticeable, but this is not a problem.

Screw the faucet head over the Teflon tape

Trim excess tape

Carefully cut off the excess tape with a knife and scrape off the remaining tape.

Every man has encountered a connection between a hose and a water pipe or faucet. Usually this is a simple procedure: put the hose tightly on the pipe and turn on the water. But such a connection often lets water through, and the hose itself sometimes flies. Then comes to our aid wire clamp who is able to help out in a difficult situation.

First of all, I would like to clearly define the concepts: what can actually be called clamps. So, this is a ring-shaped device, usually made of light metal alloys. It has a tightening mechanism in the form of a special nut, mainly with a worm thread, and also, depending on the models, a metric thread is used on the nut. In our case, the base of the device has, as it were, a wire base, but is made of a sufficiently strong metal that does not deform when tightened.

V modern version the tightening element is just a nut with a metric thread, when tightening which the mechanism tightly fits the surface, while thoroughly clamping it on the working base. The scope of clamps is quite wide, but the range of action is designed to create a tight connection of hoses, rubber pipes with solid bases, branch pipes. Using a clamp, you can hermetically connect the water pipeline to the rubber hose and not be afraid that there may be a leak somewhere.

Even corrugated pipe for the hood is attached with a clamp to the chimney and does not let combustion products into the room.

Initially, such a device was created just not for domestic needs, but for the automotive industry. Clamps are an important element in the engine of almost any car. Ask - why? The fact is that the engine of the machine during operation, due to vibration, is in a mobile state, and various connections, fuel and oil supply are various pipes. It is the rubber pipes that have free play and vibrate evenly with the engine, while fulfilling their duties of supplying fuel. Well, they are attached to the metal base with clamps, they are able to provide a reliable, tight, and most importantly, strong connection of important engine components.

Among such fasteners, I especially want to highlight one type of product: spring wire clamps that work on the principle of clothespins, such fasteners are fully consistent with their specifics. This technology and allows you to mount them for their intended purpose without the use of additional tool. The design of such a device is a thickened elastic wire, and quite rigid, which allows it to keep a given diameter. At the edges there are two "ears", which serve as "clothespins".

In order to install such a clamp at the place of operation, it is enough to squeeze the “ears” with your fingers, while the diameter of the clamp will increase, after which it can be put on the pipe. That's the whole process of mounting such a universal clamp. It is possible that skeptics may doubt that such a simple device can create a tight hermetic connection. But we can assure you that the connection is quite strong and reliable, these arguments directly confirm the laws of physics. The thing is that such devices are designed for use in places with temperature changes.

In a normal environment, the fastening mechanism exerts its operating pressure, when heated, the metal begins to expand, thereby strengthening the clamping property several times. This device has a small side effect, usually over time, such a clamp tends to pinch the rubber hose, rendering it unusable. It is not recommended to use such fasteners in a car engine, or you can use it with subsequent replacement.

It is good when the household has such an element of fastening. Of course, such a thing is not necessary every day, but there are times when you simply cannot do without a clamp, especially for car owners. But if you constantly forget to buy such a part for your kit, let's figure out together how to make a wire tie, having minimum set tools and materials.

To do this, we need the wire itself, which should be soft enough, but at the same time quite strong. Of the tools, a screwdriver is useful and, which can be found in almost any home. Now let's take a step-by-step look at the whole process, which, as you guessed, with a minimum of elements, will be quite simple.

How to make a wire clamp - step by step diagram

Step 1: Measure the desired length of wire

First of all, let's bite off the wires as much as the diameter of our connection requires. Measuring instruments we don’t need it, it’s enough to wrap the edge of the wire around the nozzle and estimate the ends for twisting by eye, usually 50-60 millimeters is enough. After we fold the wire in half and bite off the excess with pliers. We bring the ends together so that they are on the same level.

Step 2: Proper Clamp Assembly

Now that you have a double-bent wire in your hands, you need to make the correct “eye” at the bend, and the diameter of the “eye” should match the screwdriver, which should freely enter it. To withstand this size, it is enough to straighten the ends, insert a screwdriver between them and bring them together again. Of course, it is best suited for such purposes, it is even along its entire length and does not have an expansion, unlike a flat one. Next, you need to bend the resulting "eye" to the side, relative to the length of the wire, it will act as a lock.

Step 3: Detailed installation of a homemade clamp

You just made a wire clamp with your own hands, nothing if it looks unprepossessing, the main thing is that it performs its functions with high quality. It remains to install it in its place of honor and tightly twist. To do this, go around it around the pipe, always in the form in which it is, namely doubly, and cross the ends together. After we insert a screwdriver into the "eye", we hook the second end and turn it clockwise several times until a tight connection appears. Remember that you should not be too zealous during the clamp, you should feel when you need to stop so that the wire does not burst. If there are too long ends on the newly installed clamp, we recommend biting them off with wire cutters.

It is possible that the first time you will not be able to install a do-it-yourself wire clamp, you may not be able to twist it, or you will overtighten it, but do not despair, repeat the procedure for making the fastener again. We are confident that after several attempts you will get a high-quality and tight connection, and this simple technology will always help you out in Hard time. Patience and a little effort! But still, for the future, keep several clamps of different diameters on the farm, they will definitely come in handy!

Perhaps I will tell the obvious and well-known things to everyone, but for me personally it was a pleasant discovery. It turns out there is a technology that makes it easier to work with watering hoses in the country. Previously, when it was necessary, we simply pulled a rubber 3/4″ hose onto a 1/2″ shackle and used it. Yes, sometimes water oozed out, sometimes the hose dropped, but we didn’t know any other way. The hose was spliced with a 1/2″ barrel. A clamp was tightened on long-term connections.

But walking along the OBI, I noticed interesting gizmos, namely hose connectors. They allow you to quickly connect hoses, connect various fixtures in one motion, and just as quickly disassemble everything back. Moreover, on one shelf there were gardena branded connectors with a wild price of about 230 r per piece. And nearby, which is not typical for OBI, are inexpensive and high-quality (!) Chinese plastic GardenCraft connectors. At a quite reasonable price of 15-30 r per connector element.

Hose nozzles are available for hoses of different diameters. To connect the hoses to each other there is a sleeve (in the middle). For mounting on a crane various devices, but in my case a simple 1/2″ plastic fitting is enough

To fit onto the hose, simply cut it evenly, put on the connector and tighten the nut with your hands, it will evenly compress the hose. There are connector options with a valve (“aquastop”) that will not allow water to flow from the free end of the hose if no nozzle is inserted into it. But the payoff for the valve will be an even greater narrowing of the lumen to the flow of water.

Two hoses are joined through an insert:

The connectors are put on the fitting with a click and fixed on it. To remove the connector, you need to pull the orange ring.

On the tap:

Available great amount nozzles - sprinklers, mechanical watering time relays, watering cans, nozzles, tees, valves.

Bright color allows you to quickly find the end of the hose in the grass. Durable enough not to break if accidentally stepped on. Let's see how they survive the winter.

Everything is assembled and disassembled very quickly:

The rubber ring prevents the connection from leaking. Over time, as wear and tear, of course, the water will ooze a little, but not much.

UPD. Chinese connectors work well at pressures of 1-1.5 atm. at high pressures, they begin to ooze. To connect a sink high pressure to the plumbing at work, we bought hozelock connectors with a metal fitting. Pressure 8 atm. lasts without leaks

Connecting and extending hoses

Hoses are very common and often used in private sectors, especially in summer cottages and gardens in summer periods(organization of water supply, hose irrigation of various vegetation, etc.). It is much easier and more convenient with them than with pipes. If desired, the hose can be cut, as well as built up, they are easy to carry, hose alignment does not require almost any skills and expensive fixtures. There are several solutions whereby a quality hose match can be achieved: folk remedies, tested by time, and appeared in Lately plastic connectors. Modern solutions made of plastic (tees, adapters, crosses and other connectors) are offered by many manufacturers, solutions are available for literally any occasion. Such devices allow you to quickly and efficiently connect hoses, they can be used both inside the site and in the garden. They are great for connecting products of any type for frequent switching between water points.

Do-it-yourself hose connection methods

If you don't want to buy modern plastic fixtures to connect products, you can use one of the proven folk ways: through an inexpensive adapter, through a pipe section and through a fitting (in case the hose is connected to the pipe).

Today, hose fittings for any pipe and for any hose are available for sale, and they are quite cheap.

For polypropylene pipes you can use similar solutions with external thread screwing into the fitting. The only thing you need to pay attention to is the thickness and length of the fitting. You can grab the hose using a special clamp, you can use a wire twist. There is absolutely no difference in the quality of the connection, but the cost is reduced by several times when compared with factory plastic connectors.

The usual thing is when garden plot or in the garden there are many different hoses lying around. Pieces of products can be connected using a piece of pipe right size and use on the farm. This is done very simply: hoses are put on a length of about 10 cm from 2 sides and seized, as mentioned earlier, with wire or clamps.

The connector adapter, like the pipe mentioned in the previous example, connects both pieces of the hose, only it has special notches at the ends that make the process of docking with the hose easier and more convenient if the diameters of the connections do not quite match each other.

You can independently make a hose connector from a coupling and polypropylene pieces. Assembled, such a homemade connector looks good enough and holds the hoses ¾ high quality. In a similar way, you can make a tee for connecting hoses. The closest store analogue is a coupling (products are clamped with a union nut and petals on both sides).

For high-quality and reliable connection of hoses, prepare necessary tools and materials, namely:

  • pipe cutters;
  • Workbench;
  • couplings;
  • adapters;
  • nuts;
  • clamps;
  • wire;
  • spanners.

High pressure hose connection

The service life of metal hoses depends mainly on the quality of the connection of high-pressure hoses. Among other things, it is very important to choose the right couplings, fittings and other connecting elements of the structure. All elements must comply with the performance specifications and technical parameters metal hose.

On the modern market presents a very large range of products used to connect high-pressure hoses with operated machinery and equipment. Offers from foreign and domestic manufacturers are available.

Basically, various connections differ from each other in the type of fitting (size or type of thread, sealing method), as well as in connection methods. Today, the clamp type of end connection is the most common. This design one-piece with a hose and is characterized by increased strength. Disconnecting such a hose is possible only by sawing the clamping sleeve, which, in turn, excludes the further use of the fitting.

In accordance with the design features, there are 3 main types of connecting end connections.

So, a connection of 2 elements is a sleeve and a separate fitting. During assembly, the fitting is inserted into the hose, after which the clamping sleeve is put on. This type compounds are most often used in Russia and the countries of the European Union. This is primarily due to the fact that the same sleeve design can be used for various types of fittings.

The integral type of connection consists of one part. In this design, the clamping sleeve and fitting are a single unit. With this connection option, storage costs increase significantly, but the possibility of making a mistake when choosing a clamping sleeve is significantly reduced.

And the third type is a twisted connection. It includes a clamping sleeve and a separate threaded fitting. During assembly, the sleeve is screwed onto the hose, after which the fitting is simultaneously screwed into the hose and sleeve. With this type of connection, clamp fittings and sleeves can be used repeatedly, but at the same time this species connections are somewhat more expensive than others.

Do-it-yourself hose connection instructions

To connect products with your own hands, you will need a certain set of tools, as mentioned earlier. In most cases, you can do without a workbench, but it is much more convenient and faster with it. For plastic nuts you will need a gas wrench and fum tape. For polypropylene, special pipe cutters are required.

The hose is connected to a water source. It can be, for example, a collector. The ¾ hose is attached with a clamp directly to the pipe section welded to the manifold. An extra valve can be omitted so as not to increase the weight of the structure. The second end of the hose can be led to the one thrown over the site steel pipe about 20 m (can be changed to propylene, however, taking into account the protection of pipes from rodents, it turns out to be very expensive). A tee-splitter with 2 mini-valves is put on the end of the pipe. It is connected to it on one side through a ¾ connector and an adapter. The second valve is a backup.

If the pipe at the other end does not have a thread, you can put on a special adapter for ½ and a connector with a rubber end. With the rest of the outlets, the hoses are switched according to a similar principle.

Now you can connect any hose with a connector here and carry out wiring around the site through tees, if there is a need to organize a multi-hose irrigation system. The huge advantage of the connector over the clamp connections is that it becomes possible to seamlessly connect and disconnect the connection nodes and replace the tips.

Intermediate hoses are mounted between watering tips (sprayers, guns, etc.) and connectors. When buying ready-made factory kits, you need to pay attention to the section of which hose the attached connectors are designed for.
