Canary Islands: weather, best beaches, entertainment. The best beaches in the Canary Islands are here

But I have never talked about their beaches, because this is a separate and also interesting topic.
There are three categories of beaches in Tenerife: with yellow sands, gray and black.
And now in more detail about each of these types of beaches. As I already wrote, it takes 15 minutes to walk from our hotel to the ocean, but at the same time we get to the largest and most popular coastline of Las Americas.

This is a tourist center with gray sand and a well-equipped beach with a promenade, bars and restaurants, souvenir shops and other various goods necessary for recreation.

This was the first beach we got to, as it is the closest. I can’t say anything special, the sand is not fine, larger than semolina and hard. My husband and child buried me in the sand, when I got out of there, it turned out to be a hard peeling of the whole body)

The waves are decent, I seemed to be going to the shore, my husband turns around, but I'm not there - Washed away!
On another day we went to other beaches as we read a lot. good reviews about black sands, decided to find out what it is?
And so we arrived at Playa de la Arena (Playa Arena).

The beach is blacker than black. For 20 years in a row it has received a blue ribbon for purity and beauty, black sand is good for health, radiculitis, fractures and other diseases of the back and joints are treated with the warmth and minerals of black volcanic sands. The sand is soft and pleasant to walk on.

The black sand beaches got their name due to the fact that they have really black volcanic sand, which contrasts great with blue water and white foam, the photos are gorgeous. Opposite you can see the neighboring island.

The beach is located in a rocky bay, which should protect it from waves and wind, but if there was no wind, then I can’t say anything about the waves.

This sand is certainly super, but it is unrealistic to wash it off the body. Once I was washed up by a wave near the shore, my whole face, hair and body were in this sand, even my mouth, nose and ears got hit, it was rather unpleasant. And besides, it cannot be washed in any way, there are small taps with water near the shore, and the showers are where the toilet is and costs 1 euro. In general, we liked the beach the most, only I will never forget this sticky sand, it sticks to literally everything that it comes across: inflatable circles, clothes ... For three days we still could not completely get rid of it. They even brought a little with them to Russia, they just couldn’t wash it completely out of swimsuits and swimming trunks.
After this "sticky" we went to the famous yellow sands of El Medano (El Medano).

By the way, we drove to the black sands from our hotel for about 15 minutes and it cost 26 euros, and from the black sands to the yellow El Medano (El Medano) came out 50 euros and, accordingly, about 30 minutes. That is, if you go from the hotel, it will also come out about 26 euros.

When we arrived, I realized that this is the beach that I need: sand as fine as flour, soft, but then my hat flew off and flew quite far. And we realized that there are very strong winds. I looked into the distance and saw a whole bunch of surfers.
For them, this beach is a paradise.

In general, yellow sands are not at all typical for islands like Tenerife, because this island is a kind of mountain that comes out from under the sea and the top of which is the Teide volcano. But they say that these sands for many centuries brought these strong incessant trade winds from neighboring Africa, which attract windsurfers and kite fans from all over Europe.

We tried to find a corner where there would be no wind, hiding in rocky fences, apparently a wild beach, where people who prefer peace and quiet rested. By the way, there we saw that volcanic sand still flies here.

But even there it was not possible to hide from this wind and the sand that it carries with it, maybe the weather was like that and the wind could be quieter, but it is unlikely, since this beach has such fame.
In general, this beach disappointed us completely, the water was icy, and the sand constantly flew into our eyes and covered things, and the wind took hats and panamas with it.
In the cost, I wrote the amount that we spent on a taxi per day to visit all these beaches.

The Canary Islands 10 years ago seemed to many a curiosity, an expensive and almost inaccessible destination. Behind last years the situation has changed dramatically - there are more charter flights, prices for vacations are more affordable, the horizon of tourist offers has noticeably expanded.

Holidays in the Canary Islands are an absolute win for tourists who prioritize comfort, high level service, hotel and resort infrastructure, beach. The uniqueness of the holiday lies here in the fact that you can come at any time of the year, as all year round it is warm here and the water temperature does not drop below 20 degrees even in winter. This is a holiday for those who seek solitude, and for active tourists. The best beaches of the Canary Islands are equally loved by families with children, and cheerful youth, and couples in love.

Consisting of seven islands, the archipelago is better known for the islands of Tenerife, La Palma and Gran Canaria - the most popular and favorite vacation spots for tourists. The islands are famous for their luxurious hotels belonging to international chains, coral beaches, amazing natural beauty and plenty of entertainment.

Despite, that everywhere on the islands are paradises and ideal conditions for recreation, you need to choose a tour carefully, so that if you want a relaxing holiday not to be on noisy beaches, or going on vacation with the children to watch the surfers all the time. Each region and beach has its own specific features that distinguish it.

So, for example, Martianez beachperfect place for surfing, the waves here are raging so that a pleasant swim will not work. Another place that is loved by surfers from all over the world, and in particular by windsurfers, is El Medano beach on the largest island of the Tenerife archipelago. The season here lasts a whole year, during which lovers come here to catch the wind and high waves.

Not suitable for recreation with children and the beach on G Ran Canaria - Dunes of Maspalomas. The beach has gained popularity among nudists and representatives of the LGBT community, and therefore has the second name "tolerant" beach. On the contrary, the beaches of the resort Costa Adejegreat option for families with children, divers. Quiet waves, rich underwater world and soft sand are the components of a comfortable and interesting holiday here.

The status of "exclusive" has a beach Las Teresitas. One of the largest and most popular beaches - 1.5 km - it is also called the local Atlantic Riviera. This is a beach with golden sand, which was specially brought from the Sahara. The best beaches of the Canary Islands are exactly about Las Teresitas, its undoubted authority over many others is indisputable.

One of the most the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife - Playa de la Arena. Fine black sand gives the beach status and individuality. Europeans love to relax here - British aristocrats and German pedants, who appreciate it for its calm atmosphere and chic hotels. In addition, this beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness for over 20 years.

Another beach in Tenerife hardin- is called the garden beach. This is one of the most expensive beaches in terms of infrastructure - more than 2.5 million euros were spent on its construction. Main Feature The beach is the territory of coconut and banana groves attached to it, which creates the impression of a tropical garden. In the immediate vicinity there is a parrot park and an ancient castle.

Holidays in the Canary Islands spiritual harmony and contemplation of picturesque landscapes, immersion in an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty. Here everyone can feel rested and not regret their choice.

Where can I find cheap tours?

It is better to look for profitable tours through a service that compares prices from more than 120 tour operators and allows you to find the cheapest deals. We do it ourselves and are extremely satisfied 🙂

All Tenerife beaches are municipal, so you can freely swim on any of the beaches you like, including those located on the territory of five-star hotels. The only thing you have to pay for (and then - at your request) is a deck chair, umbrella, shower and toilet. A real Canarian beach is a black beach, and if the beach is of volcanic origin, in my opinion, black beaches are very unusual and beautiful. The white sand beaches of Tenerife are "artificial" beaches, since there is no white sand in Tenerife, it is brought from the Sahara desert. Also feature of all the beaches of Tenerife is the presence of breakwaters that stop the waves and wind. Where there are no breakwaters, then this is the territory of surfers

When heading to the beach, be sure to use sunscreen - the Canary climate is very deceptive due to the constant cool winds, it seems that there is no heat at all, and then when you return home, you realize that you have already burned out. Therefore, be vigilant!

Well, let's go to the beaches of Tenerife? I'll probably pick seven of the best and most interesting beaches of Tenerife(we look at the beaches of Tenerife on the map):

1. The beaches of such resorts as Costa Adeje and Las Americas: Playa del Duc, Playa Torviscas and Playa Fanabe, Playa de Puerto Colon.

2. The beaches of the resort of Los Cristianos: Playa de las Vistas.

3. Resort El Medano with the beach of the same name.

4. The beaches of the capital of the island of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: Playa Las Teresitas.

5. The beaches of the town of Puerto de la Cruz: Playa de Punta Brava, Playa Jardin.

6. The beaches of the resorts of Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago and La Arena: Playa de La Arena, Playa de Los Guyos.

7. Beach near the town of Playa de San Juan: Playa de Abama.

Tenerife beaches map

Let's start from the south coast of the island, namely from the most important duo of the resort area: Costa Adeje and Las Americas (1 on the map of Tenerife beaches). I must say that getting to any beach is not difficult because a large beautiful promenade stretches along the coast. The favorite and the best beach here is Playa del Duque - Tenerife's white sand beach. This is a clean, picturesque beach, located in the zone of expensive resort hotels, so everything here is always first class! Despite the breakwaters, there are waves but no more than 1-2 meters.

Playa Torviscas and Playa Fanabe are two neighboring beaches, merging with each other, form one large beach, the length of which is 930 m. The sand near the beach is dark, I would say a mixture of gray and white sand. There are many cafes, restaurants, shops around.

Playa Torviscas and Fanabe

It is also worth noting the small beach of Playa Puerto de Colon, which is located next to the port. The beach is closed on both sides by stone embankments, so there are rarely waves here and the water warms up very well. Near the beach there are all possible cafes, restaurants, as well as a shopping center.

We descend to the south, and approach the resort of Los Cristanos (2 on the map of Tenerife beaches). There are two large white sand beaches of Tenerife - Playa de las Vistas and Playa Los Cristianos. But I recommend swimming only on the first one, since the second one is located in the port, and is not entirely clean and suitable for swimming. Playa de las Vistas is considered the main beach of this resort, and really deserves such an assessment. The beach is clean, beautiful, with an interesting fountain, which, as it turns out, regulates the waves.

The resort of El Medano is the realm of surfers. El Medano beach is beautiful, with white sand and clean water, without breakwaters - and therefore with big waves and strong wind, which is why it has become a favorite beach for surfers. But here I recommend at least just walking around and watching windsurfers and kitesurfers.

And now we are moving to the north of the island and its capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife (4 on the map of Tenerife beaches). In general, I must say that the beaches of the northern part of the island are distinguished by capricious weather and turbulent oceans, after all, in the south of the island, rest is a beach one! The most picturesque beach here is Playa Las Teresitas - a two-kilometer beach with golden sand brought from the Sahara desert. The golden coast, palm trees, mountain peaks, the blue of the ocean - all this ensemble makes this beach the most unforgettable.

Playa Las Teresitas

The beach of the town of Puerto de la Cruz (5 on the map of Tenerife beaches) with the name Jardin is considered the best and largest beach here. This is a very beautiful black beach of Tenerife, picturesque, it is nicely decorated with beautifully planted plants and a small waterfall. In the vicinity of the beach there are many restaurants with fish cuisine. The beach is more suitable for soaking up the sun and catching waves, swimming here is still difficult. Playa de Punto Brava is part of the Jardin beach, but since it is separated by stones, it is perceived as independent.

On the territory of the resorts of Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago and La Arena (6 on the map of Tenerife beach), I will note two cool beaches, Playa de La Arena and Playa de Los Guyos. Playa de La Arena is a very beautiful black beach of Tenerife, but it is more suitable for adults, because there is a deep entry into the ocean (starting immediately from 2-3 meters), and big waves. But Playa de Los Guyos is just right for children, and adults will be able to admire the beauty of the beach, on one side surrounded by high rocks!

Near the town of Playa de San Juan (7 on the map of Tenerife beaches), it is worth noting the beach of Playa de Abama. The beach was built specifically for the luxurious five-star hotel Abama Golf Resort, but no one bothers to come to the beach and be content with clean clear water and a view of the lagoon!

Choose your favorite beach and enjoy your holiday!

The Canary Islands remain one of the most popular beach destinations for Russian tourists. They attract vacationers with unique landscapes, long sandy beaches, ample opportunities for active rest and luxury hotels, among which stand out Iberostar hotels in the Canary Islands .

For the last year in a row, dozens of beaches in the Canary Islands have received the prestigious award. environmental cleanliness- Blue flag.

The beaches in the Canaries are natural - with black volcanic sand, and artificial, covered with sand imported from the Sahara, the Dominican Republic or mined at the bottom of the ocean.

canary archipelago consists of seven islands, the most popular of which is the island of Tenerife. Here is the highest point in Spain - the Teide volcano and the famous black sand beaches, which, as is commonly believed, has healing properties. So, black sand can be found on Las Arenas beach, surrounded by rocks and picturesque vegetation. Another "black" beach is Playa Jardin, a city beach in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife. The largest beach area on the island is Playa Las Vistas, almost a kilometer long, which is located in the city of Arona.

It is on the island of Tenerife that the largest tourist centers in the archipelago are located, where all conditions for a comfortable stay are created, for example, five-star hotels of the IBEROSTAR network: Grand Hotel El Mirador, Anthelia, Grand Hotel Mencey. They are suitable for tourists who want to receive the highest level of service.

Gran Canaria is the third largest island in the archipelago and is also popular with tourists. Local sandy beaches are framed by rocks and dense tropical vegetation. The island has two Blue Flag beaches. One of them is Maspalomas, a 12 km long beach famous for its sand dunes, formed naturally by the sirocco winds from the Sahara. The second famous beach is Playa del Ingles with golden sand, also part of the Maspalomas resort. It is chosen by young tourists, as there are many clubs and bars, as well as the opportunity to go in for sailing.

The second largest island in the archipelago - Fuerteventura - boasts beautiful white sand beaches, almost untouched by civilization. Hotels on this island are suitable for tourists who prefer a quiet and secluded holiday. The most beautiful and longest beach of the island is Playa de Sotavento de Jandia, 30 km long on the Jandia Peninsula. Near it there are many excellent hotels, including those for families with children, for example, IBEROSTAR Playa Gaviotas Park 4 *. Another famous beach is the small Playa del Caseron in the province of Olivia, marked with the Blue Flag. There are also "black" beaches in Fuerteventura - La Pared and Playa de Ajuy.

The Canary Islands are a paradise for travelers. In addition to the nature of amazing beauty, the mild sea climate, in which the change of seasons is almost not felt, and the opportunity to choose the type of holiday you like, there are also masterpieces of man-made and natural origin - beaches. There is no such great variety anywhere else - golden sand brought in bags from the Sahara desert, volcanic - raised from the bottom of the ocean, majestic dunes of white sand created by winds and time.

"Playa Jardin" - exotic beach of the Canary Islands

Probably the most unique beach in the Canary Islands is Playa Jardin, located in the north of the volcanic island of Tenerife. The island of eternal spring - as it is called, the largest of the Canary Islands - it is rightfully considered one of the best resorts peace.

"Playa Jardin" is the fruit of the imagination of César Manrique, who designed this grandiose structure, which he never managed to see - he died before the construction was completed.

230 thousand cubic meters of volcanic sand raised from the bottom of the sea, 4 thousand concrete blocks and about 2 billion pesetas were needed to make this man-made splendor delight travelers around the world.

According to experts, black volcanic sand has medicinal properties. The rocks divide the beach into three parts, each of which has its own charms.

The name "beach garden" is not accidental, or rather, because of the huge garden adjacent to it with exotic trees. Across the road is Loro Park - with the world's largest collection of parrots. In addition, here you can watch dolphins, tigers and admire the spectacular collection of orchids.

Fans of historical values will not be indifferent to visiting the castle of St. Philip. The beach has rightfully won the blue flag several times, and has also received awards for cleanliness, service and environmental care.

"Corralejo" - the most beautiful beach in the Canary Islands

The best beaches not only of the Canary archipelago, but of the entire Atlantic are located on the island of Fuerteventura. White sand and a small influx of tourists will make a family vacation in the Canary Islands unforgettable. The winds that blow around the island from all sides are a real gift for surfers.

by the most beautiful place the island is considered the beach "Corralejo". Here, azure waters, changing color in the distance, wash over white, crystal-clear sand.

An amazing view of the tiny island of Lobos opens from the coast - against the backdrop of snow-white sand, it looks like paradise for relaxation, surrounded by turquoise waves. Traveling to this island by boat will not leave indifferent lovers of the beauty of exotic nature.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there is a surf school on the beach.

"Playa de Maspalomas" - desert beach

In the south of the island of Gran Canaria - the third largest in the archipelago - there is another unique beach "Playa de Maspalomas".

This is the largest beach of the island, covered with sand dunes. An amazing combination - the Sahara desert and the gentle waves of the ocean. The golden dunes were created by ocean winds that brought tons of sand from Africa.

The mesmerizing splendor is amazingly combined into a protected area national park where vehicles are prohibited.

The unique attraction of the beach is the old lighthouse, which witnessed the transformation of this place into a comfortable recreation area. Once it was the only building in a vast space, in no way connected with the rest of the territory. Construction Materials delivered by sea. Construction lasted 28 years. Since 1890, the light of the lighthouse has shown the way to ships plying the ocean between Europe and America.

The Canary archipelago itself is a ridge of islands with unique climatic conditions, ideal for recreation - both active (windsurfing, scuba diving) and beach. Lack of acclimatization will allow you to relax much more comfortably.

Numerous excursions to parks, castles, water parks and uninhabited islands will leave an indelible impression on the trip.
