How to connect a garden hose to your kitchen faucet. About connecting the watering hoses How to fit a silicone tube onto the fitting

Filling a large bucket with water from the kitchen sink can be problematic: if it completely fills up the sink, it becomes very heavy after filling it. You can use the hose outside, but you can dial only cold water... You can get a bucket of water in the bathroom, but you still have to pull the bucket out of the bathroom. But there is a simple solution: just connect your garden hose to kitchen faucet, and fill the bucket with water! Just a couple of twists and turns, which can be done quickly and easily. We will show you how you can do it in a reliable way!

Hose connection

Take the faucet attachment. This is a small attachment that screws onto the faucet and connects the end of the faucet to a threaded garden hose fitting.

Take a faucet attachment

Unscrewing the valve head

Be careful not to drop parts inside the valve head. It is a good idea to spread a towel in the sink in order to stop anything that might fall into it; the towel will prevent parts from entering the sink drain.

Screwing on a new tap attachment

Make sure it is tightly screwed to the tap, there is no need to use tools to screw it tight.

If the vacuum valve is not connected to your plumbing system, screw the hose-type vacuum valve to the hose thread before connecting the garden hose. Vacuum valve hose type can be found at a hardware store. This will prevent entry and spread chemical substances or wastewater into a drinking water supply system if the hose accidentally remains (sinks) in a container with cleaning, chemical reagents or falls into contaminated water that is not suitable for drinking.

Make sure the hose collar is in place. The hose has a rubber or vinyl cuff to prevent leaks. Make sure the cuff is in the hose before connecting the hose to the faucet or you will be the culprit.

Screwing on the hose

The hose is screwed onto the tap head. Make sure it is screwed on tightly enough for the nozzle to act as a waterproof seal.

Unscrewing the tap head

Unscrewing the tap head after using the hose. Unscrew the hose and the faucet nozzle, then screw back, also tightly, the faucet head to act as a waterproof seal.

Check for water leaks. The valve may leak through a put back valve head if it is not screwed on as tightly as it was originally screwed on.

To prevent or stop leakage from the valve head, first remove the valve head, then make one or two turns with Teflon tape around the valve threads, clockwise.

Pull the tape tightly around the cross-section of the tap threads, be careful not to let excess tape protrude where water flows from the tap, as the tape can obstruct the flow of water.

Screw the valve head over the Teflon tape. Excess tape may be visible, but this is not a problem.

Screw the faucet head over the Teflon tape

Trim excess duct tape

Carefully cut off the excess tape with a knife and peel off the remaining tape.

Every man has come across a hose and water pipe or faucet connection. This is usually a simple procedure: put the hose tightly on the pipe and turn on the water. But such a connection often allows water to pass through, and the hose itself sometimes flies. Then comes to our aid wire clampwho is able to help out in a difficult situation.

First of all, I would like to clearly define the concepts: what can actually be called clamps. So, this is a ring-shaped device, usually made from light metal alloys. It has a tightening mechanism in the form of a special nut, mainly with a worm thread, and also, depending on the models, a metric thread is used on the nut. In our case, the base of the device has, as it were, a wire base, but is made of a sufficiently strong metal that does not deform when pulled together.

IN modern version the tightening element is just a nut with a metric thread, when tightened, the mechanism tightly fits the surface, while completely clamping it on the working base. The scope of clamps is quite wide, but the range of action is designed to create a tight connection of hoses, rubber pipes with solid bases, and branch pipes. With the help of a clamp, you can tightly connect the water pipeline with a rubber hose and not be afraid that there may be a leak somewhere.

Even corrugated pipe for the hood, it is attached with a clamp to the chimney and does not let the combustion products into the room.

Initially, such a device was created not just for household needs, but for the automotive industry. Clamps are an important element in the engine of almost any car. Ask why? The fact is that the engine of the machine during operation, due to vibration, is in a mobile state, and various connections, fuel supply, oil are different pipes. It is precisely the rubber pipes that have a free stroke, and vibrate evenly with the engine, while fulfilling their duties to supply fuel. Well, and fasten them to a metal base with clamps, they are able to provide a reliable, sealed, and most importantly, a strong connection of important engine components.

Among such fasteners, I especially want to highlight one type of product: spring wire clamps, which work on the principle of clothespins, such fasteners fully correspond to their specifics. This technology and allows you to mount them as intended without using additional tool... The design of such a device is a thickened elastic wire, and it is quite rigid, which allows it to keep a given diameter. On the edges there are two "ears", which serve as "clothespins".

In order to install such a clamp on the place of operation, it is enough to squeeze the "ears" with your fingers, while the diameter of the clamp will increase, after which it can be put on the branch pipe. That's the whole process of mounting such a universal clamp. It is possible that skeptics may doubt that such a simple device can create a tight sealed connection. But we can assure you that the connection is quite strong and reliable, these arguments directly confirm the laws of physics. The thing is that such devices are designed for use in places with temperature extremes.

In a normal environment, the fastening mechanism exerts its own operating pressure, when heated, the metal begins to expand, thereby enhancing the clamping property several times. This device has a small side effect, usually, over time, such a clamp tends to pinch the rubber hose, rendering it unusable. It is not recommended to use such fasteners in a car engine, or you can use it with subsequent replacement.

It's good when the farm has such a fastening element. Of course, such a thing is not necessary every day, but there are times when you simply cannot do without a clamp, especially for car owners. But if you constantly forget to buy such a part for your kit, let's figure out together how to make a wire clamp, having minimal set tools and materials.

To do this, we need the wire itself, which should be soft enough, but at the same time quite strong. From tools, a screwdriver and a screwdriver will come in handy, which can be found in almost any home. Now let's take a step-by-step look at the whole process, which, you guessed it, with a minimum of elements, will be quite simple.

How to make a wire clamp - step by step diagram

Step 1: measure the desired wire length

First of all, let's bite off the wire as much as the diameter of our connection requires. Measuring instruments we do not need it, it is enough to wrap the edge of the wire around the branch pipe and estimate the ends for twisting by eye, usually 50-60 millimeters are enough... Then we fold the wire in half and bite off the excess with pliers. We bring the ends together, so that they are on the same level.

Step 2: Correct clamp design

Now that you have a wire in your hands, bent twice, you need to make the correct "eyelet" at the place of the fold, and the diameter of the "eyelet" must coincide with the screwdriver, which must freely enter it. To maintain this size, it is enough to unbend the ends, insert a screwdriver between them and bring them together again. Of course, it is best suited for such purposes, it is flat along its entire length and does not have expansion, unlike flat. Next, you need to bend the resulting "eyelet" to the side, relative to the length of the wire, it will serve as a lock.

Step 3: detailed installation of a homemade clamp

You just made a wire clamp with your own hands, nothing if it looks unprepossessing, the main thing is that it performs its functions efficiently. It remains to install it in its place of honor and twist it tightly. To do this, go around it around the pipe, always in the form in which it is, namely doubly, and cross the ends together. Then we insert a screwdriver into the "eyelet", catch the second end and turn it clockwise several times until a tight connection appears. Remember not to be too zealous during clamping, you should feel when to stop so that the wire does not burst. If there are too long ends on the newly installed clamp, we recommend that you bite them off with pliers.

It is possible that the first time you will not be able to install a self-made wire clamp, you may not be able to twist it, or you will drag it, but do not despair, repeat the procedure for making the fastener again. We are sure that after several attempts you will get a high-quality and tight connection, and this simple technology will always help you out in difficult moment... Patience and a little effort! But still, keep several clamps of different diameters on the farm for the future, they will definitely come in handy!

Perhaps I will tell the obvious and well-known things for a long time, but for me personally it was a pleasant discovery. It turns out that there is a technology that makes it easier to work with watering hoses in the country. Previously, we just pulled the rubber 3/4 ″ hose 1/2 ″ squeegee when needed and used it. Yes, sometimes the water oozed out, sometimes the hose threw off, but we did not know any other way. The hose was spliced \u200b\u200bwith a 1/2 "barrel. The clamp was tightened on permanent connections.

But walking along OB I noticed interesting things, namely hose connectors. They allow you to quickly connect hoses, connect various devices in one motion, and just as quickly disassemble everything back. And on one shelf were branded gardena connectors with a wild price of about 230 r per piece. And next to it, which is not typical for OBI, inexpensive and high-quality (!) Chinese plastic connectors GardenKraft. At a reasonable price of 15-30 r for a connector element.

Hose attachments are available for hoses of different diameters. There is a sleeve (in the middle) to connect the hoses to each other. For mounting on a tap there is different devices, but in my case, a simple plastic 1/2 ″ fitting is enough

To put it on the hose, you just need to cut it straight, put on the connector and tighten the nut by hand, it will evenly squeeze the hose. There are options for a connector with a valve ("aquastop"), which will not allow water to flow from the free end of the hose if no nozzle is inserted into it. But the price to pay for the valve will be even more narrowing of the lumen of the flow of water.

Two hoses are joined through an insert:

Put on the connectors on the fitting with a click and are fixed on it. To remove the connector, you need to pull off the orange ring.

On the crane:

Available great amount nozzles - sprinklers, mechanical watering time switches, watering cans, nozzles, tees, valves.

Bright color allows you to quickly find the end of the hose in the grass. Strength is sufficient so as not to break if accidentally stepped on. Let's see how they survive the winter.

Everything is assembled and disassembled very quickly:

The rubber ring prevents the connection from leaking. Over time, with wear and tear, of course, the water will ooze a little, but not significantly.

UPD. Chinese connectors work well at pressures of 1-1.5 atm. at high pressures, they begin to ooze. To connect the sink high pressure we bought hozelock connectors with a metal fitting for the plumbing at work. Pressure 8 atm. withstands without leaks

Hose connection and extension

Hoses are very common and often used in the private sector, especially in summer cottages and vegetable gardens in summer periods (organization of water supply, hose irrigation of various vegetation, etc.). It is much easier and more convenient with them than with pipes. If desired, the hose can be cut, as well as extended, they are easy to carry, hose alignment does not require practically any skills and expensive devices. There are several solutions according to which a good hose alignment can be achieved: folk remedies, time-tested, and appeared in recent times plastic connectors. Modern solutions made of plastic (tees, adapters, crosses and other connectors) are offered by many manufacturers, solutions are available for literally any occasion. Such devices allow you to make a quick and high-quality connection of hoses, they can be used both inside the site and in the garden. They are perfect for connecting any type of product for frequent switching between water points.

Diy hose connection methods

If you don't want to buy modern plastic fixtures to connect products, you can use one of the proven folk ways: through an inexpensive adapter, through a piece of pipe and through a fitting (if the hose is connected to a pipe).

To date, hose fittings are available for sale for any pipe and for any hose, and they are quite cheap.

For polypropylene pipes one can use similar solutions with external threadscrewing into the fitting. The only point that you must pay attention to is the thickness and length of the fitting. You can grab the hose with a special clamp, you can use a wire twist. There is absolutely no difference in the quality of the connection, but the cost is reduced several times when compared with factory plastic connectors.

It's a common thing when garden plot or there are many different hoses lying around in the garden. Sections of products can be connected using a piece of pipe suitable size and use on the farm. This is done very simply: on a length of about 10 cm, hoses are put on from 2 sides and grasped, as mentioned earlier, with wire or clamps.

The adapter-connector, like the pipe mentioned in the previous example, connects both pieces of the hose, only it has special notches at the ends, which make the process of docking with the hose easier and more convenient if the diameters of the connections do not quite match each other.

You can make a hose connector yourself from a coupler and polypropylene pieces.When assembled, such a homemade connector looks good enough and holds the hoses well by ¾. In a similar way, you can make a tee for connecting hoses. The closest store analogue is a coupling (products are clamped using a union nut and petals on both sides).

For a high-quality and reliable connection of hoses, prepare necessary tools and materials, namely:

  • pipe cutters;
  • crafting table;
  • couplings;
  • adapters;
  • nuts;
  • clamps;
  • wire;
  • spanners.

High pressure hose connection

The service life of metal hoses depends mainly on the quality of the high pressure hose connection. Among other things, it is very important to choose the right couplings, fittings and other connecting elements of the structure. All elements must necessarily comply with the performance characteristics and technical parameters metal hose.

On modern market there is a very wide range of products used to connect high-pressure hoses with machinery and equipment in use. Offers from foreign and domestic manufacturers are available.

Basically, the various connections differ from each other in the type of fitting (size or type of thread, method of sealing), as well as in the methods of connection. Today, the most common clamping type of end connection. This design one-piece with a hose and is characterized by increased strength. Such a hose can be disconnected only by sawing the clamping sleeve, which, in turn, excludes further use of the fitting.

In accordance with the design features, there are 3 main types of connecting end connections.

So, a 2-piece connection is a sleeve and a separate fitting. During assembly, the fitting is inserted into the hose and then the clamping sleeve is put on. This type compounds are most often used in Russia and the countries of the European Union. This is primarily due to the fact that the same sleeve design can be used for various types of fitting.

Integral connection type consists of one piece. In this design, the clamping sleeve and the fitting form a single unit. When using this connection option, storage costs are significantly increased, but the likelihood of making a mistake when choosing a clamping sleeve is significantly reduced.

And the third type is a twist joint. It includes a clamping sleeve and a separate threaded fitting. During assembly, the sleeve is screwed onto the hose, after which the fitting is simultaneously screwed into the hose and sleeve. With this type of connection, clamping fittings and sleeves can be used multiple times, but at the same time given view connections are slightly more expensive than others.

Instructions for connecting hoses with your own hands

To connect products with your own hands, you will need a certain set of tools, as mentioned earlier. In most cases, you can do without a workbench, but it is much more convenient and faster with it. For plastic nuts you will need a gas wrench and fum tape. For polypropylene, special pipe shears are required.

The hose connects to a water source. This can be, for example, a collector. Hose ¾ is clamped directly onto the pipe section welded to the manifold. An extra valve can be omitted so as not to increase the weight of the structure. The other end of the hose can be led to the thrown over the section steel pipe about 20 m (can be changed to propylene, but taking into account the protection of pipes from rodents, it turns out very expensive). At the end of the pipe, a tee-branching with 2 mini-valves is put on. It is connected to it on one side via a connector ¾ and an adapter. The second valve is a reserve one.

If the pipe on the other end has no thread, you can put on a special adapter for ½ and a connector with a rubber end. With the rest of the taps, the hoses are connected according to a similar principle.

Now you can connect any hose with a connector here and carry out wiring around the site through tees, if there is a need to organize a multi-hose irrigation system. The huge advantage of the connector over the clamp connections is that it becomes possible to easily connect and disconnect the connection nodes and replace the tips.

Intermediate hoses are installed between the irrigation tips (spray nozzles, guns, etc.) and connectors. When buying ready-made factory kits, you need to pay attention to which hose section the supplied connectors are designed for.
