French firm Studiolada Architects just unveiled open source open source wooden house plan... This means that now anyone can independently build for themselves exactly the same house, since his plan and all the drawings are publicly available and posted on the Internet for free access. In this project, Studiolada architects skillfully combine frugality, comfort, reliability and beautiful modern design. In an effort to make the home cheaper, the team decided to ditch bricks, plaster and paint, opting for local sustainable timber. Almost everything is made of wood in this house, both outside and in its interior.

Affordable open source home

Located in Baccarat, France, this open-source cheap home was built for an elderly couple looking to create the most economical and energy efficient housing possible for themselves. Its area is just over 112 sq.m., besides, next to the house there is a compact garage for two cars, built in the same style as the house. In this project, the architects ditched classic design and instead strategically decided to use a combination of simple foundations to create stunning designs.

The use of wood panels as the main building material reduced the overall cost of the project, and all wood beams and wall panels were cut and varnished in a nearby workshop. Pre-cast concrete was used in minimal quantities only as a base for support beams, which were then sheathed with wood panels. In fact, timber covers almost everything in a home, from walls and floors to ceilings and partitions. And to insulate the house, they used sustainable materials such as cellulose wool and wood fibers.

By keeping the wood paneling open rather than covering it with plaster and paint, the design team has achieved a clean, minimalist interior that is both homely and inviting. The open plan includes a living room, kitchen and mezzanine on the first floor, while the bedrooms and bathroom are on the second floor. The living room opens onto a spacious terrace to a separate courtyard. Large wall-to-wall glass panels provide the optimum amount of natural light for the interior and also connect the home to its natural surroundings.

To properly plan your future home, you should decide on your requirements for it.

  • Are you planning to live in the house permanently, come on weekends or spend only the summer? All communications at home depend on this.
  • Do you need a fireplace in your house? Setting it up seriously changes the approach to developing a home plan.
  • How many people will live and stay in the house. Here you need to provide for the prospect: the possibility of having children, retirement of parents, etc.
  • In what style will the house be decorated. This can also affect your plan.

However, letting go of your fantasy, it is worth remembering that a house is a complex engineering structure. And when developing its plan, first of all, you need to take into account the laws of construction.

Plans and 3D projects of wooden houses

If you have not yet decided exactly which one you need (dimensions, plan and design), we advise you to look at our projects:

  • Projects of wooden houses
  • House projects up to 100sq.m. House projects 100-200sq.m. House projects from 200sq.m.

The best options for approaching the plan of a wooden house

  • Determine the location of all heating equipment. That is, finding a separate room in the plan of the house - a boiler room.
  • It is necessary to think in advance where all the doors in yours will be located in order to exclude "dead zones" in the rooms.
  • Choose a place to place the kitchen and bathrooms, preferably on one wall. This will make it more convenient to organize the sewerage system.
  • Bedrooms will be warmer if they are small.
  • It is better to combine the living room and dining room for the convenience of family gatherings.
  • In a two-story house, it is better to select the second floor for the sleeping area, and in a one-story house - the back of the house.
  • Regardless of the number of tenants and the distribution of rooms between them, it is worth making sure that at least one sleeping place is equipped on the first floor. It can be useful for an elderly or sick guest.
  • The number and location of windows in the house is determined in advance. Already at this stage, it is worth considering the location of large pieces of furniture.

My home is my castle. And made with your own hands, as in the photo of a wooden house, will also warm the soul and leave no doubt about the reliability and environmental friendliness.

For many centuries, people have built and continue to do so using wood as a building material.

Indeed, wooden houses are warm and comfortable in winter, and quite fresh in the heat of summer.

Characteristics of building a wooden house

How to build a simple man in the street with his own hands, we will tell you more in our article. Let's start, perhaps, with the main points of construction:

Preparation of new project documentation

This contributes to the presentation of the finished type of building, the thoughtful selection of building materials, the prioritization, and the design of the necessary papers. At this stage, you can think over and solve many of the nuances in terms of organizing work, solving financial issues and design episodes.

Laying the foundation

The main and most important moment in building a house, since it accounts for a third of the consumption of materials, a lot of effort and time. But if everything is done correctly, then you are guaranteed a long life for your home.

The site for building a house should be selected based on the geological properties of the soil. Basically, for the construction of a wooden house, a columnar or screw foundation is used.

Columnar - the most in demand, as it is durable, not too expensive and quickly erected. Its structure consists of reinforced concrete blocks, stone and brick. The foundation is laid depending on the type of soil and the water table.

This option not only saves building materials, but also financial resources, since its installation is not difficult to do yourself.

Screw implies increased labor costs, without which you yourself cannot cope. This option is suitable for mountainous and wooded regions, because it requires the installation of piles and their twisting 2.5 m into the ground.

After that, the entire structure must be poured with concrete mixture, the head must be welded and the top of the foundation must be installed.

Determining the type of building

The most popular are timber frame houses. They are the most inexpensive, from $ 190 per square meter, but excluding communications. A house made of rounded, processed logs will cost you $ 270 per sq. meter, and from lamellas glued into packages $ 460 and above.

The most suitable for building a house are logs 7 m long and 25 cm in diameter. For an average country house, a diameter size of 17 cm is suitable.

Walling

After the foundation has stabilized and settled down, the preparatory work is over, you can start building the walls. For this, you can use round logs, glued beams or planed, cleaned from knots, bark and debris.

They look great and are quite durable thanks to the processing. The tree is harmless to health, although it requires impregnation with a special solution from damage before laying.

Roof device

For the construction of a roof, it is necessary to build rafters, heat-insulating and waterproofing materials, and material for the roof.

Note!

The shape of the roof must be chosen correctly so that it protects against the effects of weather conditions and successfully combines with the view of the whole house as a whole.

Today, the choice of material for roofing is quite wide: ondulin, slate, metal, corrugated board. As they say, for every taste.

Windows and doors in a wooden house

It is worth considering in advance the principle of their work, appearance and other details, and only after that construct openings for them. Do not forget about arranging a porch or veranda to a wooden house.

Floor and ceiling in a wooden house

The floor must be strong, durable and attractive. Before screed and finishing the floor, waterproofing must be installed.

Linoleum, tiles, laminated flooring, carpet or natural wood are usually used for flooring. A wooden ceiling should look aesthetically pleasing; it is better to hide electrical communications inside.

Home decoration

A wooden house does not need additional decorative elements, with the exception of houses made of simple logs, which will shrink for a long time. Such houses can be refined with modern materials.

Note!

Installation of sewerage and water supply systems

If there are existing water supply networks near the house, then you can legally connect to it and enjoy all the benefits. If not, you will need a stand-alone plumbing system, which is expensive.

The same applies to the sewerage and drainage system, but this must be done so as not to damage the foundation and floor.

Heating system device

House heating works are carried out at the end of construction.

You can afford a warm floor, the use of a gas or electric boiler, stove, etc., be sure to insulate a wooden house with special heat-insulating materials when building.

Electricity device

The location of wiring, nodes, sockets and lighting devices is thought out in detail and calculated in the project of the house, according to which the work is performed.

Note!

The main work points have been completed, but the construction has not yet been completed.

Building a house on your own is a fairly feasible task, but also a responsible one. In order for the final result to please the owners all their lives, it is worth considering some advice from experienced ones.

How to make the construction of a wooden house easier and not burdensome for yourself and your friends?

  • Calculate all the blanks and details of the future construction. Then install the strapping ring in the corners, followed by a connection in half of the tree and secure with pins.
  • Install the timber and fasten it with a crown to the floor. At the end, lay the beams with a gap of 0.7 m, the sealant and again the beams. Make the floor with 40 mm thick planks and clean with a 35 mm thick sheet pile board. Use felt, linen, tow, or moss as insulation.
  • Make a drainage system: cut the upper edge of the timber from the outside by 15 mm.
  • When building a house with several floors, the second is built at a height of 2.5-3 m, then an attic or attic. Doors are generally preferred paneled, and windows - wooden or metal-plastic.
  • For the construction of a roof, a board of the following dimensions is suitable: 10x4 cm for racks and braces, 15x4 cm in 1 m increments for the construction of rafters, unedged for lathing 25 mm every 0.4 m.

Varieties of ventilation at home

Wood, being a natural living material, can by itself saturate the house with oxygen. But for some rooms (kitchen, bathroom, basement) this is not enough. Therefore, an additional source of ventilation is needed.

Air ducts installed on the roof are used as a natural exchange of air. For forced air circulation, you can install special devices with noise insulation, which will solve the problem with a high noise level.

The ventilation pipe for the air intake is installed almost at the floor, and for the exhaust - almost under the ceiling.

At the entrances to the pipe, grilles are installed to protect against rodents, or nets to protect against dust and dirt. For the winter, these holes are closed.

Building decor

If you want to decorate the look of the house with color, you can use special paints taking into account humidity, type of wood and its condition.

When painting the floor in the hallway, do it in several layers, as it is subject to great mechanical stress. Be sure to take this nuance into account when painting the floor in other rooms.

The most suitable means for painting wooden boards is oil paint, it is durable and harmless, but it takes a long time to dry. Acrylic and varnish are also widely used.

Cracks in the floor should be putty before painting using river wedges. Scrub off irregularities with a plane, prime the surface, dry and paint.

Here, perhaps, are all the delights of building a wooden house with your own hands. As you can see, it is not difficult, you just have to want to, show your imagination, put effort, patience and finance, study some video master classes. Go for it and you will succeed!

DIY photo of a wooden house

For those who own their own personal plot, it is always possible to draw up a plan for the construction of a private house from a bar, and then put it into execution.

The advantage is in its relative cheapness and speed, as well as in the fact that the material itself does not just belong to environmentally friendly elements, but the tree has antiseptic and healing properties. Now we have the opportunity to talk about the planning and construction of such buildings, as well as watch the video in this article on the same topic.

House layout and necessary materials

So, any owner of a personal plot, before starting construction, will ask a specialist or draw up a plan of a wooden house from a bar on his own. Based on the received drawings, materials are procured. The advantage of such construction is the specialization itself, because the timber is immediately procured for a specific project in terms of quantity and size.

Layout

House plan 7.5 × 9m

  • Such a plan for the construction of houses from a bar, as you can see in the upper drawing, can be easily converted into areas of 6 by 9, 9 by 9 or 10 by 10 m, while the size of the rooms will simply change. Such a layout is suitable not only for summer cottages, but also for permanent residence - there are enough rooms in the room that can be converted, or rather, used at your own discretion, depending on your needs.

  • And above there is another one, only with furniture arranged in advance, that is, the sizes of the rooms are designed for standard furniture. In fact, this plan can be changed - it all depends on our needs. This drawing can be successfully used as a plan for a one-story house from a bar, because there are quite enough rooms for living here.

Attention! The foundation plan must match exactly the drawings of the first floor of the house. On a solid foundation, not only load-bearing walls, but also partitions should be erected, then the entire frame of the building will be as one whole.

  • So, before starting construction, it is necessary to complete the physical layout of the site, since it is customary for us to do this during or even after the end of construction, which, however, is almost the same. For some reason, the prevailing opinion is that the essence of the layout is to level the ground and mark the site with pegs without reference to the terrain. But the convenience and terms of operation depend on the latter.
  • First of all, you need to pay attention to the place where you are going to place the building, and if the site is free of any buildings, it will be much better if you move at least 5m deep into the yard from the fence on the side of the road. It is also important to consider the location of the rooms relative to the cardinal points. Noise load from the street - it is better to place the kitchen on the cool side, and for the bedroom, in addition, you need a quieter place. It is best to expose the abundance of sunlight to the nursery and playroom, as well as the living room.
  • An important role is played by the wind load or the side from which the wind most often blows in a given area, because, despite the cardinal points, this area may be the coldest. Therefore, such areas are best fenced off with the construction of so-called cold buildings such as a veranda, garage, and so on. This will allow you to significantly save on heating the entire house during the cold season.
  • Another important aspect of the planning can be called the binding of the project to the neighboring site, and it will be very good if it is already built up or at least marked out for construction. Indeed, in addition to the house, there are also plans for baths from a bar, various outbuildings and toilets, and it is unlikely that you or your neighbors will want to have windows overlooking a nearby steam room, where smoke comes from a chimney or toilet.

Council. Building a house at the highest place of your site will save you money on pouring the foundation, since such a foundation is less susceptible to the influence of groundwater, therefore, the pit can be made smaller.

Briefly about the foundations

  • Primarily, strip foundations can be divided into two types - buried and shallow structures, which can already be monolithic and prefabricated. Naturally, they differ in depth, but the difference is not in the exact distance from the ground surface, but in the depth of the tape relative to the freezing point.
  • So, for unstable soils (heaving, sandy, technogenic, swampy) use buried foundationwhere the base of the tape is below the freezing point for the given location to avoid deformation. As for shallow foundations, their depth ranges from 40 to 60 cm, depending on the mass of the superior structure and soil density. Such plans for houses from a bar, with a strip foundation, are most convenient, since it becomes possible to equip a basement, basement or cellar.

  • It is possible that the plan for building a house from a bar is designed for pile foundation, although more often on screw piles they are calculated for lighter structures (baths, summer kitchens). Such devices are good for all soils, with the exception of rock formations (meaning only screw piles). The main advantage of this design is the speed of installation, because if you wish, you can mount the base for a large wooden house in one day.

  • You can, of course, equip rammed piles with your own hands, but such a process is more time consuming, although the price of the material in this case will be much lower. For this, preliminary drilling is carried out, and concrete is poured into the casing, the cavity of which is pre-reinforced. In fact, this turns out to be a bored foundation, but it will take a lot of time to install such a base, because the solution must still harden.

  • Very similar to pile also columnar foundation, only here reinforced concrete slabs serve as supports. This option is quite reliable, but it is more time consuming due to the increase in the volume of earthworks. But if you still decide to equip such a structure, then it is best to purchase reinforced concrete slabs from the factory, and not do it yourself - it is much more reliable and faster.

Construction Materials

  • It should be noted right away that the profiled timber can be of two types - solid and glued and each of them has both advantages and disadvantages of the structure. The main advantage of any option over a log is that it does not need to be caulked during installation, and it is immediately laid on a dry dowel. The profile is milled in such a way that when laid on the dowel, drying occurs evenly from the outside and from the inside, moreover, the installation of walls with such a material is much faster.

  • The profile is milled very precisely, therefore, due to the tight fit, precipitation does not linger on the surface, which protects the material from strong cracking. However, solid timber is still susceptible to cracking like any other wood, so special attention should be paid to its processing.
  • But the main disadvantage of a profiled solid bar can probably be called the fact that after the construction of the box, a technological pause is mandatory before finishing. This is extremely important for the shrinkage of the profiles, since they dry out due to their structure, that is, microdeformation occurs, which does not allow high-quality wall cladding. Therefore, with the natural moisture content of the material, the instruction provides for its sludge up to 10-12 months for shrinkage, which means that it is ready for front finishing.

  • The glued profile does not have such disadvantages, which are listed above, and this applies not only to timber, but also to logs. Such material has all the advantages of natural wood, but it practically does not crack and the structure assembled from it does not have moisture shrinkage. At the moment, production is gaining momentum in Russia, and the popularity of such construction is growing every day.

  • Be sure to mention such a material as Woodlock thermobeam - PolarSIP panel, which is a profiled bar with polyurethane foam for thermal insulation inside, which allows you to almost halve the consumption of wood for the construction of an object. The material is a rigid frame of two wooden slats with wooden transverse inserts, which are evenly spaced along the entire length. Inside this structure there is polyurethane foam, which is precisely the main thermal barrier, and all material belongs to low-combustible elements.
  • All the materials that we have considered above are environmentally friendly, and fit the most different plan of houses from a bar. It is just that the appearance of the walls being erected will change somewhat, as well as the timing of the final completion of construction and the commissioning of the house.

Conclusion

In fact, plans for the construction of houses from a bar are not much different from the same drawings for buildings that are erected from a foam block, since both materials are lightweight and do not need a massive foundation. But, nevertheless, the project of the house is always drawn up taking into account the material, its properties, as well as positive and negative qualities.

Own cozy house in the village is the dream of many people. First, you need to decide what the internal layout of the house will be, and only then you should start creating the project itself.

Home project creation:

First you need to choose a site. When it is selected, it must be formalized with the local government. Next, you need to create a project at home (who cannot do it himself - turns to the designers). It is extremely important: if there are other buildings on the site (besides the house itself), they must also be displayed in the project. Is the project ready? Submit for approval to the authorities. Only after the approval of the authorities can the construction begin. We must not forget about the norms for the location of the building on the site (distance to the fence, distance between buildings, etc.).

The basic stages have been passed, however, construction is also an important stage, at which many difficulties will arise. And a lot depends on how well thought out the project. In this regard, it is best to hire professional specialists for design, who will immediately make the project competently and draw up the specification.

Usually the whole house is built by one firm, and such firms often provide the customer with ready-made standard, time-tested projects. If an order for construction is made from this particular company, they can give the project to the customer as a gift - a common practice.

Before laying the foundation, it is necessary to compare the layout of the house and its area. Here you need to decide on such things as:

    house height and number of floors, ceiling height;

    pipe communications (water supply, heating, sewerage);

    dimensions of the garage (if needed);

    the size of the terrace;

    parameters of additional buildings not related to the house;

    ways of approaching and approaching the house.

Internal layout of the house:

    location of premises;

    location of risers and pipe loungers;

    type, parameters and number of windows / doors;

    if there is - the dimensions of the extension and its location relative to the house;

    the thickness and material of the walls (insulation, fire protection, etc.).

There are many special drawing programs for the implementation of the project today. AutoCad, Compass, 3D Max. However, if the customer is not himself a professional designer in the field of village houses, it is still better to turn to specialists for a project. This ultimately saves money and time.
