How can you keep green onions in the refrigerator? To wash or not to wash: how to prepare green onions for long-term storage in the refrigerator and preserve their freshness for a long time

Onion greens are a storehouse of vitamins and minerals, which is useful to have on the table with the onset of cold weather. But how to keep green onions for the winter at home? There are simple harvesting methods that can help enrich your diet with greens at any time of the year.

Preparing greens

Before preparing green onions for the winter, you need to properly prepare them:

  1. Select healthy feathers without rot, damage, cut off dry ends.
  2. Rinse the prepared leaves thoroughly to remove dust, soil, debris.
  3. Then remove excess moisture from them by blotting with a towel.
  4. Cut the dried stems into medium or small pieces.

They are now ready for further processing.

Freezing

A quick and easy way to keep green onions fresh in the refrigerator is to deep-freeze. Greens are stored for a long time, up to 12 months, does not need defrosting before use. It can be added to salads, first and second courses and appetizers. You can freeze in the freezer chamber, onion, any other types of onions.

Deep freezing fully preserves the beneficial properties of greens

How to properly freeze green feathers? There are two procurement methods:

  • cook frozen cubes;
  • chop and store in portions in a package, container.

To make vitamin ice cubes, distribute the finely chopped feathers in ice cube trays, filling them 1/3 full. Then fill the greens with water and place in the freezer. Take out the finished cubes, distribute in packages, use as needed.

For the second option of freezing, pour chopped greens into a large bag without tamping. Place in the freezer horizontally to distribute the onion in a thin layer. After freezing, pack the semi-finished product more tightly. Onions in this case are obtained as free-flowing crystals.

Alternatively, the greens can be slightly fried in a sunflower, then placed in the freezer for storage.

For an easy way to freeze onions, see a short video:

Do you know that…

The first 1-2 weeks the smell in the freezer is very "onion", but then disappears and does not affect other products.

Drying

Drying is one way to store green onions in winter. With this option, as with freezing, the greens retain their nutritional properties and are ready for use all year round. There are several ways to harvest onions by drying:

  • air drying;
  • in the oven;
  • in the airfryer / electric dryer.

With natural drying, spread the prepared green mass in a thin layer on a tray, sieve, baking sheet. Cover the top with gauze, paper, place in a dry, dark place.

Dry the plants for 7-8 days, stirring occasionally to dry evenly. Distribute the finished mixture for storage, place the containers on a shelf away from sunlight and moisture.

Chopped onion feathers are convenient to dry in the oven, airfryer. Spread the prepared raw materials evenly on a baking sheet, place in an oven preheated to 40-50 ° С for 2-3 hours.

Drying is faster in the airfryer. To dry the green mass, it is enough to set the temperature to 70 ° С, wait half an hour.

Drying is the second most useful harvesting method: up to 80% of nutrients are retained

Onion greens shrink 11 times, so they take up little space during storage. It restores its properties in hot water, therefore it is used mainly for preparing first and second courses.

Do you know that…

When fresh, the taste of onion greens is different for different varieties and types of onions, but after freezing or drying it is almost impossible to distinguish.

Salting

A simple option to provide yourself with vitamins in the cold season is to harvest green onions for the winter by salting. The leaves are prepared, washed, dried thoroughly.

  1. For salting, for every 1 kg of greens, take 250 g.
  2. Mix prepared leaves with ½ serving of salt.
  3. Put the mass in a jar, sprinkle each layer 1-2 cm thick with the remaining salt.
  4. Sprinkle the last top layer with plenty of salt.

The greens with salt will be ready for use in 15-20 days, when they give juice and marinate. It is recommended to store it no longer than 7 months.

Tip of the day

If you have not tried such a blank before, then do a little to test. This method slightly changes the color and smell of the onions, which gourmets may not like.

Pickling

Storing green onions in the refrigerator will help you pickling. Blanks can be made in different ways: using different marinades, adding seasonings to taste. Most popular recipes:

  • classical;
  • with honey;
  • with wild garlic.

You can get rid of excess onion bitterness by blanching or short boiling.

The classic way

For classic marinating, take 1.5 kg of feathers:

  • 150-170 g and;
  • a little bitter and allspice;
  • salt and seasonings to taste.

Rinse the green onions, let the water drain, chop. Prepare a brine at the rate of 100-110 g of salt per liter of water, fill in the prepared green mass, leave for a couple of days. After 2 days, drain the brine, pour boiling water over the parsley and dill, add to the onion.

Prepare a marinade with, seasonings, and salt, pour it over the herbs placed in sterilized jars. Sterilize preservation for 10-12 minutes, roll up the lids, cool under a "fur coat".

With honey

  • 200 ml vinegar;
  • the same amount of water;
  • 35-40 g of honey;
  • a pinch of salt.

You can add seasonings to your taste.

Put the greens in sterilized dry jars, fill with marinade. Prepare the latter from water, salt, vinegar and honey, boil for 2-3 minutes, pour into jars with onions. Then sterilize the conservation for 10-12 minutes, roll up, cool under a "fur coat".

With wild garlic

Rinse prepared green stems of plants, chop, fill with sweet and sour marinade (ingredients are selected individually, to taste). Boil the green mass for 3-5 minutes, then distribute among the jars, close with a nylon lid, put in the refrigerator for storage.

One of the variations of the classic recipe is shown in the video:

Seasoning in oil

Olive, sunflower, or any other will help you keep onions green for a long time in winter. Fill the jars 3/4 with prepared herbs, add oil, cover with a nylon lid. Such in the refrigerator for up to six months, are used as needed.

If you add salt, vinegar to the oil and bring to a boil, you can pour greens with the prepared composition and roll up with iron lids. The resulting mixture is stored for a long time, suitable for preparing various dishes.

Freezing, drying, pickling, salting are different ways that will help you enjoy greens with the onset of cold weather. Which one to choose depends on your personal preference and free time. Pickle, preserve and dry the herbs for longer. The simplest methods are freezing and salting. Try one of them first.

Thank you in advance! It is important for us to understand that we are not working in vain.

Every green onion lover tries to keep them fresh as long as possible. But how to do it without making annoying mistakes. I have prepared several proven methods for you.

We fight for the freshness of onions

If someone else does not know if it is possible to store onions in the refrigerator, then the answer is - not just possible, but necessary. This is how you can prolong the freshness of your greenery for several weeks.

Preparation

I, like many other housewives, believe that the plant should not be washed before placing it in the refrigerator. The fact is that dry greens are stored longer.

But if you are of the opinion that all food in the refrigerator should be washed, follow this scheme:

  • Fill a small bowl of cold water.
  • Dip the greens into it, wash it from the lumps of dirt.
  • Shake off the feathers and spread them in a thin layer on a cloth.
  • After half an hour, dried herbs can be sent to the refrigerator.

Storage options: 3 ways

Greens can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time. At a temperature of 3-4 degrees, the plant will stay fresh for 2-3 weeks. At temperatures close to zero - 1–2 months.

To store the product correctly, you can use one of the following methods:

Photo Description

Method 1. In a glass container

For storage, you can choose a glass jar or other container.

  • Place the herbs in a jar.
  • Close it tightly with the lid, this way you can store the product for up to a month. At the same time, the feathers will not dry out, but will remain fragrant and crispy.

    Keep in mind that keeping green onions fresh in this way is only possible if they have small feathers that fit completely in the jar. Broken or bent feathers will dry out faster and become unusable.

Method 2. In the package

By choosing this storage method, you should never pre-wash the product. Just wipe it down with your own hands or a clean cloth:

  • Collect the herbs in a plastic bag and tie tightly.
  • Pierce the bag in several places with a sharp object, creating holes for air.
  • Send the package to the refrigerator shelf.

    During storage, you will notice that condensation begins to collect in the bag, which shortens the life of the feathers. To solve this problem, before placing onions in cellophane, refrigerate them to refrigerator temperature.

Method 3. In paper
  • Rinse the plant thoroughly.
  • Blot it with a tissue to remove any remaining moisture.
  • Wrap the entire product in paper.
  • Sprinkle it lightly with water on top.
  • Place the paper roll in a cellophane bag and send it to a cold place.

    Never use newspapers for this method. The ink they contain is harmful to health.

Storage features

A healthy and balanced diet involves the inclusion in the diet of foods rich in minerals and vitamins. Therefore, vegetables, fruits and herbs should be present on every table. In addition to the most popular ones - parsley and dill, onions are used for the preparation of most dishes. However, the maximum benefit from the use of the product can only be obtained if it is fresh.

If the purchase of green onions in the winter is not possible for every family budget, and there is simply no desire to grow them at home, you can use a number of proven methods of harvesting onions in season for subsequent use as food. Since there are a large number of options on how to preserve the benefits and taste of onions, each housewife will easily choose the most successful way for herself. Having spent half a day on these works, it will be possible to enjoy delicious greens for a whole year or during the winter period without compromising the family budget and any work related to the care of crops in the greenhouse.

Green onions are called ripe feathers from onions. It was found that it contains the maximum amount of vitamins. The product is low in calories - 100 grams contains only 20 kcal. Vitamins A, C, K and PP are present in large quantities in onions, in addition, it contains starch, saccharides, organic acids and chlorophyll. Due to its chemical composition, onions are in demand for the prevention and treatment of many diseases.

The main concentration of useful micro- and macroelements falls on the white part of the feather, which grows from the turnip of the bulb. Therefore, it is very important to use the entire feather when preparing a vegetable for storage. It will be possible to store the product for a long time only if only fresh onions have been selected. Best of all, the color of the feather will indicate the condition and freshness - it should be saturated green, in addition, the ends should not be dry and twisted. The fact that green onions are no longer suitable for consumption and harvesting can also be indicated by white bloom and mucus on the greens.

An important point regarding the storage of green onions is the container in which the content of the product is planned. The choice of container option directly depends on the preparation method. For example, a feather is frozen, most often in cling film or a plastic bag, sometimes onions are frozen in plastic containers for the winter. To pickle or preserve onions, you should use glass containers, but dried herbs are usually stored in small bags made of natural fabric. Fresh feathers in the refrigerator can be left in cling film or a regular bag.

In terms of storage space, the first most popular is the refrigerator and freezer. And if there is a cellar, the jars with salting are lowered into it. In some apartments, you can keep a container of canned green onions on the balcony.

Fresh greens wither very quickly even at room temperature, so they need to be kept cold, preventing freezing, and also limited contact with air.

There are some tips for prolonging the freshness of green onions.

  • There are storage options that eliminate pre-cleaning and contact with water. Any contamination present can be removed with a towel or removed by hand.
  • The harvested product must not be packaged and placed in a container if it is still wet. All onions should be laid out on a napkin or towel and dried well on each side.
  • To store green onions in the refrigerator, in which young bulbs have already formed, they should be tied together and wrapped in a damp cloth. This method will contribute to a longer lasting freshness of the product.

  • In a cool room, onions in a glass container will not lose their qualities for about two months.
  • To prevent the accumulation of condensation in the bag with herbs, several holes should be made in it. For short-term storage, do not break the feather and cut it, since if the integrity is violated, the onion will deteriorate faster.
  • Feathers should not be left with defects or decaying areas.
  • It is best, when choosing between a plastic bag and paper, to stop at the latter.
  • Salted green onions must be kept in a glass container with a tight lid.

How do I prepare the pen?

The taste of the product and its shelf life largely depend on how correctly the onion is prepared for subsequent storage. These works include several sequential steps.

  • Product inspection and removal of damaged or dried feathers is carried out.
  • The onions are washed under the tap. In some cases, depending on the degree of dirt, it may be necessary to soak the onions in a bowl to remove any clumps of soil.
  • After activities with water, it is necessary to spread all the onions in one row to allow them to dry well. It is best to dry your herbs with a cloth napkin. Quite rarely, but for such work, an electric dryer is sometimes used.
  • Slicing the onion is not a necessary step, as the product can also be left, for example, to freeze as a whole. In this case, everything depends on individual preferences, and the fact is also taken into account where and in what dishes the further use of greens is planned.

For salads or side dishes, you need to dry or preserve the already chopped feathers. And for making sauces, green onions are usually passed through a meat grinder or food processor.

Popular ways

The main options for preserving greenery were cellars or other cold rooms in a dwelling. Wooden or clay utensils were used as containers for the product. In addition, dried herbs, which were stored in cloth bags, were often used as a seasoning. Over time and thanks to the appearance of various additional appliances in the kitchen, the choice of storage options has expanded significantly, but the basic methods are still in demand today.

An alternative to cellars is the refrigerator, where the greens, put in a bag, can keep their freshness for two weeks.

The main point during this method is to regularly inspect the product for damaged or rotten leaves that will need to be removed from the bulk.

There are several recipes for keeping onions fresh for a long time at home using a minimum of available tools.

  • Greens can be washed or manually removed from it with a minimum amount of dirt. Next, the pen must be wrapped in paper, then slightly moisten it by sprinkling it with water from a spray bottle. A paper envelope with green onions is placed in a plastic bag and sent to the vegetable storage container in the refrigerator. When choosing paper for packaging, it is best to take kraft paper or some other dense material, the main thing is that it does not tear from moisture. The recommended storage period for herbs in paper is about one month.
  • In order to keep the greens in the bag as long as possible, without condensation accumulating in it, which shortens the shelf life, you can use a rather simple technique. Before putting onions into it, the package should be slightly cooled in the freezer, after which the herbs should be placed in it.
  • Green onion stalks can also be stored in cling film, the whole crop is easier to divide into portions, wrap with material and make small punctures with a toothpick in some places of the film. The holes formed will allow air to enter. After that, the blanks are placed in a bag and in a refrigerator. In such a package, you can keep the freshness of greens for about a month.

Drying

Describing all sorts of ways to store the harvested green onion, it is impossible not to mention such a way to prepare greens as drying them. Work is carried out with the product according to the scheme described below.

  • The greens need to be washed, then dried and cut into small rings.
  • It is necessary to dry the resulting cut on light paper in a warm and ventilated place so that the plant has the opportunity to dry out properly. Avoid direct sunlight, which degrades the micronutrients in the greenery. To protect the food, you can cover it on top with another sheet of paper. Sometimes they resort to drying green onions in the oven.
  • As a rule, after a week, greens can already be sent for storage in a bag or jar. The fact that the onion is sufficiently dry will be evidenced by the fragility of the rings. It is necessary to store dried seasoning in a closet, without access to light and at room temperature.

A mandatory requirement for bags that will contain dried herbs is the naturalness of the material. Since there will not be enough air through the synthetic fibers, and the product needs to "breathe" for a long shelf life. Otherwise, the entire collected or purchased volume of greens will quickly deteriorate, since it will simply become damp.

Salting

To pickle green onions, they must be finely chopped or chopped. Then mix with salt and put in a glass container, leaving some free space in the container. Top the contents can be poured with sunflower or olive oil. It is believed that the oil allows you to preserve all the useful properties of the product for as long as possible without losing its organoleptic qualities. A polyethylene lid is made for the jar, and the salting is sent to the cellar for storage or placed in the refrigerator.

There is another method for pickling green onion feathers:

  • the greens are carefully dried, for 1 kilogram of onions you need 250 grams of salt;
  • chopped onion mixed with half a serving of salt;
  • then the mass is laid out in layers, each layer is sprinkled on top with the remaining salt.

Such preservation will be suitable for consumption after 2-3 weeks. This time will be needed so that the onions are thoroughly marinated and juiced. Canned greens in this state are recommended for cooking within six months after salting.

The main condition is the choice of the optimal storage place, it is best that the jars stand in a dark place, cool. In winter, you should avoid placing them near heating appliances.

Freezing

This option is considered the simplest and does not require the addition of any additional ingredients. Fresh herbs need to be sorted, washed and dried. There are three options for freezing the product.

  • In the first case, the feather is chopped and simmered in a pan. The cooled mass is placed in plastic containers and sent to the freezer. As practice shows, such onions will be more aromatic and tasty. In addition, it can be immediately added to the prepared dish without additional frying.
  • The onions are blanched and dropped into a colander until they cool completely. Then the mass is transferred to a plastic container and stored in the freezer.
  • The easiest option is to freeze the feathers without slicing them. You can store greens both in bags and in containers. In addition, you can slice and freeze the feather without any heat treatment. In this form, the greens do not lose their taste for about a year.

You can freeze onions in ice or baking tins. This can be done as follows:

  • peeled onions are chopped into rings of the desired size;
  • laid out in molds made of plastic or silicone, while you need to fill them with a pen about a third to leave room for water;
  • the remaining space is filled with purified water, after which the molds are placed in the freezer;
  • after the ice hardens, the cubes with herbs can be put into bags or left in this state, and then used as needed.

In addition, chopped green onions can be easily frozen in plastic bottles, they are not afraid of the cold, and the product will be convenient to use during cooking. Before sending greens for freezing in plastic, you must thoroughly wash the inside of the container and dry it to prevent mixing of odors, for example, if there was a sweet drink in the container before or some other foreign inclusions. It is best to use small drinking water bottles.

It has been proven that with deep freezing it is possible to preserve about 90% of all nutrients in the product, which is especially important in winter, when the body lacks vitamins.

In addition to the above methods for preserving green onions, there are several equally interesting options.

  • Sourdough under pressure- feathers are cut into rings of 2 centimeters in length, after which they are stacked in glass containers in layers, alternating with table salt. After which the container is left under pressure for two days until the brine appears. If there is little juice, you can add a little water to the mass and increase the weight of the press. After 2-3 weeks, the product will be ready for consumption.
  • Harvesting marinated feather onions- for one kilogram of feather you will need 2 chili peppers, several cloves of garlic, chopped cinnamon and pepper. Marinade is made from water, sugar and apple cider vinegar. Onions are placed in jars, poured with boiling marinade and closed with a lid. After cooling, the onions are stored in the refrigerator.

Expiry dates

The shelf life of an onion feather directly depends on the temperature in the room where it will be located. It is believed that the optimal thermometer reading for greens is the range from +1 C to +8 C.

If the temperature is maintained at +3 C, the shelf life of the onion will not exceed three weeks. The cooler temperatures around zero will keep the greens fresh for about one to two months.

The temperature range in which you can preserve fresh green onions for as long as possible directly depends on the option of harvesting them for subsequent storage. For frozen feathers, the product needs a temperature of -8C. Glass containers with onions, which were preserved by the method of sourdough or salting, are stored in a cool place where the thermometer readings are no more than +10 C. In addition, for salted onions, it is worth choosing a room or storage place with minimal access to light.

As practice shows, when frozen, a green feather can be stored in the freezer for at least 12 months. Dried onions do not lose their useful properties and do not deteriorate in textile bags or paper for two years. Pickled feathers with salt must be consumed within six months after preparation, similar shelf life to green onions, which were closed in jars along with vegetable oil. As a result of longer storage, the oil can affect its taste, making the piece rancid. Fresh onions with proper packaging and quality control, stored in a refrigerator or other cool place, are suitable for consumption for three months.

See below for the option of freezing green onions for the winter.

The use of green onions in cooking gives dishes an original aroma and taste, and also makes them healthy. It is necessary to use this plant daily throughout the season to provide the body with vitamins and minerals, which is especially important in winter.

In order for green onions to be preserved for a long time, its correct preparation is important, which includes cutting, peeling, drying and slicing. In addition, for the blanks, you need to select high-quality feathers, intact and not dry.

A bow that has already shot arrows is not used for storage, such feathers are hard and tasteless.

Before proceeding with the procurement, you need:

  • cut off long feathers of bright green color;
  • cut off the dried tips of the feathers and discard;
  • rinse the onion thoroughly under running water;
  • dry the onion with a clean towel;
  • cut the feathers as it is convenient for the hostess - finely or coarsely.

In addition, you need to know a few rules that will help keep the onion for a long time:

  • cut onion feathers with a knife or kitchen scissors, but not with a food processor, from this the plant will let out juice;
  • store onions with salt or oil in a glass container;
  • dried onions can be stored in fabric bags or plastic bottles.

After preparing the plant, you can start harvesting onions.

Preservation methods

To freeze

Freezer storage is very convenient. You do not need to use oil or salt for this, you do not need to defrost the plant when cooking.

You can store such onions for up to a year. The plant is frozen as follows:

  • finely chopped clean dry onions;
  • greens are put in ice molds or other small cups, but not to the top;
  • containers are poured with clean water and placed in the freezer.

If there is not enough space in the freezer, you can use a more convenient method: wrap finely chopped onions in cheesecloth and throw in boiling water for a couple of minutes. After it drains, place it in bags, dividing it in portions.

Dry

Another way to prepare green onions at home is to dry them. This onion can be used in absolutely any recipe. In addition, there are no special storage conditions: the product is well stored and retains its nutritional properties at room temperature.

Drying is pretty simple: shredded feathers are laid out in a thin layer on white paper and placed in a dry, warm place, where direct sunlight does not fall. To do this, you can cover the plant with another sheet of paper.

Another way is to dry in the oven. The plant is placed in an oven for several hours, the temperature is set to 50 degrees. Do not close the oven door.

Dried and frozen onions can be stored in sealed bags that take up little space in the fridge or freezer and are breathable and extend the shelf life of the product.

Salt

You can make a good preparation if you salt green onions. You need to mix it with salt at the rate of a glass of salt per kilogram of greens. The resulting mixture must be placed in glass jars, tightly closed with a lid and stored in a cool dry place.

You can use the mixture after two weeks. An alternative way of salting green onions is to place the feathers in a jar or bottle of strong salted boiled water.

Mix with butter

Top the contents of the jar are poured with sunflower or olive oil. You can also add dill, parsley, celery or basil to onions.

Make green sauce

It is not necessary to procure only one way. For a change, you can freeze part of the onion, part of it can be dried or salted.

And another very tasty and healthy option is to make the famous Italian green sauce called Pesto from it.

Ingredients for Pesto:

  • green onions - 200 grams;
  • parsley, dill, cilantro, basil - 100 grams each;
  • head of garlic;
  • green bell pepper - 200 grams;
  • sugar, salt, hot pepper to taste;
  • vinegar - a teaspoon.

The preparation method is very simple: grind all the ingredients in a blender, or finely chop, add spices, vinegar, pour into small jars and put in the refrigerator or cellar. In winter, the sauce can be used as a seasoning for various dishes, salads, for making sandwiches, marinades.

Plant

Of course, the most effective and easiest way to provide yourself with fragrant green onions for the winter is to plant them on a windowsill. Many housewives put the onion in a jar of water and after a while feathers appear on it, but they are watery, pale, their taste is unexpressed.

To get a high-quality harvest on the windowsill, you need to pour coniferous sawdust into the box and dig in small bulbs at a short distance from each other. The contents of the box need to be watered, but not too much.

How to save before processing?

It also happens: green onions have already been cut, but it is not possible to deal with harvesting in the near future. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the plant fresh.

This can be done in two ways:

  1. Clean from debris, collect in a neat bundle and put in a jar of cold water. Place the container in the refrigerator, change the water in it every two to three days.
  2. Another way to keep onions fresh is to place them in a plastic bag. The plant is also cleaned of debris and then placed in a bag that needs to be tied tightly without getting air.

An important condition if you are going to store the plant for a short time is not to wash it, but simply to remove the dried tips of feathers and damaged parts. Also, it is important not to bend it. The saved bow can then be used as needed.

As you can see, there are several ways to store green onions in winter. Each housewife chooses a suitable way for herself, making her best dishes tasty and aromatic.

At the present time, it is difficult to imagine that 10-15 years ago, green onions were not sold in supermarkets and bazaars in winter. However, it is thanks to this that many housewives have learned to preserve it at home during the entire winter period. Since this is a very delicate vegetable, the question of how to store green onions does not lose its relevance now.

Features of preparing onion feathers for storage

In order to preserve the greens for at least several months, they must be properly cut and washed. To do this, choose fresh onion feathers that are free of damage. Flabby or dry tips and the bulb are trimmed off. Then the plants need to be rinsed.

It is better to do this procedure in a container with water, and not under a tap.

After washing, the remaining moisture must be removed from the feathers. The greens can be wiped off with a towel or simply spread out in the sun. If a vegetable was grown in its own garden and outwardly it looks clean, it can be stored without preliminary washing.

The next preparatory stage is shredding. Since onion feathers are often long, it is best to cut them before storing. The size of the pieces depends on the type of food they will be used to prepare. It is better to add large pieces to borscht or soup, small pieces to sauce.

Drying

This is one of the main ways to store greenery. However, not every housewife knows how to dry green onions for the winter. It is dried in an electric dryer or in the sun. For this, the feathers are washed, wiped thoroughly and cut into pieces. All this time, her door should be open.

To dry the feathers in the sun, they are laid out on a baking sheet or tray and kept in the sun for 2 days. Cover the greens with gauze to protect them from flies. Dried onions can be stored for up to one year.

Dark glass jars with lids are well suited for storing dried product. In transparent containers, it can turn yellow, which will lead to a deterioration in taste. Store dried onions in a cool, dark place. The disadvantage of this method is the loss of the sharpness of the taste of herbs. The dried product can be added to any dish.

Freezing

How to freeze green onions for the winter? First of all, you need to check the temperature in your freezer. Freezing of greens is possible only at -18-22 degrees. At this temperature, all useful substances are preserved in it. The advantage of this method is its convenience. Frozen food does not need to be thawed before use and is free of salt.

Only thoroughly washed and wiped feathers can be frozen. They are cut into pieces, placed in a small cup or baking dish, poured over with water and placed in the freezer.
