12. Look at the pictures, read the text, and compare the descriptions of dandelion and coltsfoot. Based on the descriptions, indicate at least one similarity and one difference between these plants.

Dandelion Mother - and - Stepmother

Dandelion grows in meadows, gardens, wastelands, near dwellings. It adapted better to trampling than other herbaceous plants. If we try to pull a dandelion out of the soil, then only leaves will remain in our hands, and the powerful, fleshy, long root of the plant grows deep into the soil, reaching the aquifers. Therefore, dandelion can grow in dry, trampled areas.

Coltsfoot - This is a perennial herb with long branched underground shoots-rhizomes. Mother-and-stepmother blooms very profusely. Already in early spring along railway embankments, along hillocks, along the edge of roads, along wastelands, of which there are many in the city, especially in the areas of new buildings, yellow circles of inflorescences-baskets appear. This is one of the first herbaceous plants to bloom in our country.

Larch is a tree of the Siberian, or northern taiga. Larch is a cold-resistant plant that grows in areas reaching the Far North, high in the mountains. It needs large streams of light, does not grow well in darkening, on highly moist soil. Larch can thrive, flower and seed. Flowers, like all conifers, do not have larch trees. Seeds are formed in medium-sized cones with seed scales. The short, soft needles of larch trees emerge every spring from yellowish buds and fall off like foliage every fall, hence the name of the tree.
