Photographing in kindergartens with live scenery

Any holiday, be it New Year, February 23, March 8, May 1 or 9, must be accompanied by themed events in the kindergarten. You sew or buy costumes for your children, prepare numbers or poems with them, think over all the small details. Why not order a professional themed photo session on the day of the holiday?

It will be very interesting and useful for your child. If this New Year , then you can think of an interesting photo shoot in costumes of snowflakes, snow queens or bunnies. You can even make a whole series of staged shots, and then make a slideshow of them - and the New Year's mini-film with the participation of your children is ready!

And on February 23rd or May 9th I can organize a photo zone with live decorations in a military theme. Such photo sessions contribute to children's development and general immersion in the holiday. The child learns history, discovers something new for himself, develops patriotism and love for the Motherland. Thematic photo sessions allow you to do this: children have fun and at the same time usefully.

The sun is now available all year round thanks to photo sessions with bright live decorations ... Cheer up your kids by ordering a photography with themed room design. The decorations are suitable for any time of the year, and for especially significant holidays we can prepare a special design for our portable photo studio.

Of course, no professional photographer can do without children's party .

Birthdays, matinees - I will gladly make a wonderful reportage photography for you.

Photos will be the most exclusive!

If you are planning celebration in a cafe or restaurant, then only a professional photographer can provide a decent quality of photos. During such shooting, absolutely everything must be taken into account: the light, the size and characteristics of the room, the number of participants in the celebration and even the shade of the interior.

Please yourself and your children, book a date - and we will discuss all the details.

You can also order children's photo session in nature or in photo studios in Moscow and the Moscow region ... You can shoot with the whole family. Children, regardless of age, are happy to pose and rejoice from the heart during a photo session, for them this is real fun!

You can come up with interesting images, complement them with accessories, completely give free rein to imagination! Your child can participate in the process of creating a photography theme. It will be interesting and useful to him at the same time.

You can also spend photo session for babies up to a year ... The photos are very cute and touching. This could be the moment discharge from the hospital , a photo session at home, in a photo studio or outdoors.

Kids at this age sleep most of the time, but on the contrary, it will add even more tenderness to the photos. You can put them in a beautiful crib or basket, make the image light and airy. Such photographs are, first of all, a memory of the best, happiest and most carefree times.

In addition, you can spend baptism photography your baby in church. When shooting in such a way that the photos are beautiful, it is very important to consider the lighting and the size of the room. The photographer also needs to do his job very carefully so as not to interfere with the course of the sacred rite.

Even experienced professional photographers, in moments of peace of mind, prefer not to look at highly artistic photographs, but those pictures where there are relatives, acquaintances, friends or themselves. What can we say about the majority of amateurs who primarily shoot in order to capture the best moments of their lives.

But anyone who has picked up a camera wants to take photographs that would satisfy very specific criteria. First, they must be of high quality, that is, everything must be clearly visible in the pictures. Second, they must communicate the event in the best possible way. It is not enough to make a simple portrait, it is necessary to capture the action, for example, a child who is in his usual surrounding space, in interaction with other children. And the third is the artistry of photography.

The artistry of the image will make this photo interesting not only for you, because it serves as a kind of reminder, like “here I was”, but also for others who you want to show it to.

Let's take a look at how to prepare to shoot an event such as a children's party, to leave an impression for yourself and to nudge other parents to buy all the photos from you, if that's the goal.

Training

The first part of the material is devoted to those who already have a good SLR or mirrorless camera, but with interchangeable lenses and the possibility of manual settings. Preparation for photography should be started at home and just before the holiday.

  • Premises in kindergartens in Russia are often quite large, but only in relation to the size of the children themselves. For adults and the photographer in particular, they are not very large, and therefore the lens should be used with focal lengths of 24-70 or one that includes these focal lengths. For private kindergartens, where the matinee can take place in a very small room, such as an apartment, a lens with a focal length of the order of 16-35 will not interfere.

Of course, you can shoot a holiday with any other lens, say, a 50 mm fixed lens, but most likely later you will regret that somewhere you did not capture the entire scene completely, and somewhere you could not get close enough to make an emotional portrait.

  • If you are shooting photos, not videos, forget about the tripod. There is nothing more boring than a one-shot event. Move more, change angles.
  • Lighting. We'll have to forget about the direct flash mounted directly on the camera. Unless, in a hopeless situation, you can put it on, preferably 20x30 cm.

The ideal choice would be to use an off-camera softbox, which can diffuse the lighting so that the flash does not hit the forehead. Such softboxes are used by professional photographers to shoot indoor events (club parties, weddings, corporate events, etc.). Using a softbox with a flash makes it possible to add light where there is little, control the lighting, and due to this, take good pictures regardless of the position of the sun or how bright the chandelier shines.

  • Stock up on a sheet of A4 paper. It is not necessary to take a pen or pencil. A simple sheet of paper will suffice.

So there you are. Your actions

If you came to the matinee without delay, you will definitely have about five minutes to look around and start work.

So the instruction:

  • Pay attention to the lighting and windows in the room. If the holiday takes place in the morning or afternoon with good lighting, then try to sit next to the window. This way you will be shooting children from the lighted side. This will give +100 to the quality of your photos in advance.
  • Talk to your caregiver. Of course, you can move around the room without his permission, but the teacher will feel calmer, will not pay attention to you, and there is a high probability that he will tell you in advance where the main action will take place.

  • Be sure to pay attention to the curtains and walls of the room. Most often they are very warm colors. It is not at all a fact that your camera will automatically perceive the shades correctly, which means it is better to set the white balance in advance.

Perform a magical action. Take out the sheet of paper that you have prepared, place it in the place where the event will take place directly and take a picture so that the sheet fills the frame completely. See what happened. If the white paper turns yellow, go to the camera settings in the white balance setting section and select the manual white balance.

Take a snapshot of a sheet as an example to guide the camera. Then take another picture of the same sheet of paper. If done correctly, the drawing paper on your camera screen will be white. To avoid looking clumsy at the matinee, practice doing this trick at home. The instruction for the camera helps a lot in this case.

What a photographer should do when the matinee has begun

  • While you are shooting from the “from the window” point, you do not need to use the flash, but as soon as you need to move, grab the flash in your hands or put on a softbox. Only then can you move forward. Actually, this is where the technical preparation is over.
  • Usually matinees do not last long and the lighting conditions do not change, and therefore we can assume that you are technically ready for photography, then the question is only how you will get into focus, how correctly you will compose the frame, and so on. We will deal with this further.

How to choose a place to shoot a matinee

Try to position yourself in such a way that it is convenient to shoot both children and spectators. Focus on the host of the celebration or educator. As a rule, children's eyes are directed precisely at them and, being nearby, you can easily catch direct glances, full of delight, surprise or joy.

What to photograph at a children's matinee

At the children's party, it is important to photograph all the children and fairy-tale characters who participate in the celebration. Don't miss the opportunity to take as many pictures as possible, and don't forget about your parents. Their quivering faces and glances must definitely fall into the camera lens of the photographer.

Pay attention to detail. Children's parties usually have beautiful decorations: Christmas tree decorations, light garlands, colorful tinsel and many other beautiful decorations ... Every little thing allows you to convey the atmosphere of a matinee and an uplifted children's mood.

During dances and outdoor games for children, it is desirable that the shutter speed is no longer than 1/200, otherwise you will get motion blur. Avoid being too tall - they make your photos noisy. The capabilities of each camera are different, with an average optimal ISO range of 200-600 units.

Another must-have element of the holiday collection is a group photo. When the solemn part is over, it's time to gather the whole group and take memorable pictures with the teacher, separate shots with parents and teachers. And for this, again, you will need a teacher and the contact that you will establish at the beginning of the matinee will be very useful.

You can put a row of chairs on which to seat adults, and place the children around. Thus, several tiers will be visually created, and if you take pictures from an upper angle (stand on the same chair or a small hill), then everything will fit in the frame and everyone will be clearly visible.

by Igor Gubarev

These are staged shots, so the photographer can determine in advance the most successful place, choose lighting and settings, and come up with an original placement. The most important thing then is to work promptly, because after an active matinee it will not work to calm the kids down and attract their attention for a long time.

Last tips

  • Pay attention to the angles when photographing children. Change angles more often, if you are not very experienced, duplicate shots from different angles.
  • Consider height differences when shooting. Feel free to bend, crouch, or lift from the small chair so that the children's faces are at the level of the lens. This alone will make many of your shots boring.
  • Children are always beautiful, but still don't shoot them with a wide-angle lens at close range. Do not position the camera so that facial features are distorted.
  • With the exception of a couple of ceremonial portraits and a general group photo, do not try to get a frame in which the child is looking directly into the lens.
  • Often, photographers-moms and dads, being carried away by photography, forget that they have come to a holiday. Do not be a detached observer, try to actively participate in what is happening in order to feel the atmosphere of joy.

Where else, if not in kindergarten and school, you can capture so much unpredictability, sincerity and joyful emotions. Only here you can see the real smiles of happy children in the circle of their friends. Our experienced photographer in kindergarten and school will always help to fix them in photographs during matinees and various celebrations.

How does the photo session take place?

Photographing in kindergarten from our specialists is a carefully thought-out event, as a result of which you will receive unique pictures of your own child in a company with his friends. Especially bright and rich pictures are obtained when holding matinees and all kinds of holidays. In this version, photography begins long before the start of the children's performance. Our photographer comes to the children's party for a rehearsal, where the children train, trying to look perfect in front of their parents at an official event. This is where filming every child is a masterpiece.

When organizing a matinee in kindergarten or school, the participation of our photographer will allow parents to fully enjoy the holiday, and not try to choose the best position for photography. At the same time, a professional festive photo session for your child can be performed in several ways:

  1. Staged shooting - involves posing a child in a certain stage image. At holidays, children are usually dressed up in original costumes, which is very important to capture both in your memory and in photographs.
  2. Group photo session - a series of photographs of children in kindergarten in the creative process and staging roles.
  3. Reportage photography - involves filming small groups of children and each child personally in the process of various activities.

As a result of the work of our specialists, parents will receive a series of original photographs that are offered both in digital and printed form. In addition, we are always ready to make a beautiful graduation album for you.

Why Choose Us?

Our advantages

Our firm has been providing photography services for over 20 years. Our employees are professionals in their field, with love for their work

My name is Pavel Bogdanov, and my main activity is photography in kindergartens. I work where parents do not go: in children's classes, physical education, walking ... I play games for children on my own, come up with funny photo tasks, and as a result, I get live pictures that I want to look at. The most important thing in my approach to photography is contact with children, warm and friendly relations, a fun game. Photobooks of graduates are created from the photographs, these are:

I make such photo books for kindergartens.

At the same time, the spreads are devoid of photoshop photos, excessive cartoon decorations and other things. Instead, each page is snapshot-based. And I don't have to look for clients on my own, because they find themselves, mainly thanks to word of mouth.

I told you more about photo books on a separate site: Photo books of kindergarten graduates.

I didn’t come to kindergarten photography right away: I used to associate it in my garden with stern uncles-bombiles who are firmly bound by an unspoken agreement with the managers, pay them kickbacks, and the managers in exchange arrange “voluntary-compulsory” sales of photos to their parents. It's just that the parent is confronted with the fact that such and such a number will be photographed, after which the photographer takes 1-5 photographs of each child in a beautiful dress, cuts it out of the background, substitutes it in an incredibly beautiful (according to the photographer) frame, prints it out and gives it to the child garden. And then teachers offer parents to buy photos.

At the same time, the price for a picture is usually unreasonably high, but parents still buy photos, knowing that otherwise the printed photos of their children will end up in the trash, and no one wants that. Practice shows that sales of photographs with this approach reach 80%. At the same time, the output photographic material has a rather mediocre quality, if not worse.

Red, yellow, unsharp faces, dubious angles, lack of emotion on the child's face, or just a tense grimace: "Get away from me!" - that's all that the classic kindergarten bombila does in kindergartens.

It is for the above reasons that I never thought of trying to work in kindergartens. I photographed reports at children's matinees, filmed concerts, birthdays in cafes and restaurants, but I didn’t go to kindergartens.

Everything changed when I accidentally stumbled upon Youtube for video tutorials on children's photography of the coolest child photographer and psychologist with many years of experience Igor Gubarev... The first video that I vividly remember was this:

I remember very well how I was amazed, surprised, even shocked by how easily, naturally and cheerfully Igor photographs children, how he gains confidence in them and overcomes modesty, excessive violence, and lack of contact with children. It became very interesting.

So I found all Igor's videos that could be found on the network. Most of them were not posted on Igor's channel. Presumably, in many cases not with Igor's consent. Which only contributed to my zeal. After looking through everything I could in one week, I caught fire with the thought: I also want to photograph children! I want to take photos in a fun and playful way, I want to do it all the time.

Then I signed up for Igor's master class in St. Petersburg, and then began experimenting with game photography. The first child I had a chance to photograph was Vasya. Vasya turned three that day, he was constantly congratulated and distracted. Nevertheless, I managed to establish some kind of contact and take some photos.

I continued looking for children, experimenting and photographing, asking myself as a photographer for children's events, playing with friends' children. The first shooting in kindergartens appeared, and then I finally realized that it was mine!

The main ideas that remained in my head:

  1. No need to impose. You need to take pictures so that your parents will bring you to kindergarten themselves.
  2. We must learn to work with children from the position of an animator, psychologist and teacher, not a photographer.
  3. Children should forget that they are being photographed!
  4. You must always remain human.

Based on these simple principles, I managed to find the first orders for filming in kindergartens, having filmed eight kindergarten groups literally in the first two months of work. We quickly managed to create the first one.

At this stage, it turned out that working with groups of children is always more fun, easier and more productive than working with one child. It also turned out that Igor was 100% right: parents should not be present at the photo session!

It was very hard at first: I had to learn many psychological techniques, work on mistakes, carefully plan each new shoot, analyzing all the previous ones. But already from the first independent shooting, I realized the main thing: I really like it! Leaving kindergarten after six hours of work, I felt exhausted, exhausted, but very happy and content. With each new shooting, the result became better, less fatigue, and the process brought more and more joy. Soon I started making alumni photobooks and created a separate website for them.

Each time, returning home by subway, I analyzed the past hours of work, scrolling in my head the strengths and weaknesses of the past shooting, and made notes in my head:

  • Children overheated here, it was necessary to cool down a little
  • At that moment, it was necessary to attract their attention with mindfulness games.
  • The extension should be shorter
  • Portraits need to be done much faster
  • Parents should be instructed to bring their children earlier than usual whenever possible
  • A free gym must be agreed in advance

There were a lot of these moments, but I very quickly corrected my mistakes.

Thus, in 2 months I managed to more or less develop an algorithm for shooting and methods of interaction with children, to find out the types of photographs that are in the greatest "demand". The first shots I did with one rental Nikkor 24-70 lens, but in two months I managed to save up for my own 24-70 and 80-200 2.8. Rather, I initially went into a little debt, but I gave it back in one month. In the meantime, the season was over and I was already swarming with ideas for the next year. I started working on a separate site for photo albums fotoigra.com, started writing articles on children's photography, and began to do non-commercial play photography with children 6-7 years old. Made group in contact.

Thanks to articles on children's photography, my site shot up in the search for some key queries, and orders for reportage photography began to come to me, which helped a lot in late May and June. Thanks to my friend and photographer Roman Barabonov, I received several more orders for reportage and concert photography. In general, it started. But I distracted myself from photography in kindergartens.

About how to organize photography in kindergarten, I was asked to write an article a long time ago. And I promised everything and put it off. Because writing a good article requires a special attitude, an inner impetus. But he just did not exist.

But today I will fulfill my promise and tell you about how to arrange shooting in kindergarten, what hours are best to take pictures, what to bring with you for work, and I will try to highlight some minor technical issues.

In this article, I will not touch on the description of cameras, lighting, and the subtleties of setting up the equipment. These are all topics for subsequent articles.

Today we will analyze only the very organization and conduct of photographing children to transfer their photos to a mug, plate, puzzles or T-shirt.

How to arrange shooting

I hope my advice on photography techniques in kindergarten will be useful to you!

Do not be afraid of difficulties, you will succeed!
