Soda and citric acid bombs. How to make a bath bomb at home

So let's get started. We prepare everything you need.

As a filler, you can use sea salt, dry cream, starch, cosmetic clay, oatmeal, etc. Remember that bombs with a light filler (cream or milk powder) rise to the surface of the water, while bombs with a heavy filler (salt) boil from the bottom of the bath.

If you want to make a colored geyser (bomb), then first you need to paint the filler in the desired color and dry it well, because if the ingredients are wet, the bomb will start to "hiss" and "bubble" ahead of time. You can also use ready-made colored sea bath salt.

We use the classic ratio of components - one part citric acid, one part filler and two parts baking soda (1: 1: 2). Usually salt and citric acid are coarse enough and must be ground in a ceramic mortar or grinder. Be careful, citric acid can irritate the respiratory tract!

Gently sift the crushed colored salt, soda and citric acid.

Now we mix all dry ingredients in a convenient dry container. Remember to wear gloves.

Add base oil, emulsifier (optional) and flavor to the resulting mixture. If you use hard butters (shea, cocoa, coconut), then they must first be melted in a water bath. The same should be done with the emulsifier. The amount of oil depends on many parameters - indoor humidity, initial humidity of soda and salt, etc.

If you are making a bomb without oils and emulsifier, then lightly sprinkle the resulting mass with alcohol. Don't overdo it!

The mass should hold its shape when squeezed, if it does not hold its shape, then sprinkle it again.

Fill both halves of the mold with mass.

Press the halves well together and remove the excess mass.

Our bubbling ball is ready

Now let the geysers dry for 15-30 minutes. It is best to place the bombs in rounded shapes with a large diameter, since on flat surface the barrel of the ball may flatten. After a day, you can use the fragrant geysers for their intended purpose.

This is how our balls boil in the water

Done!

Bath bombs can both give bliss after a hard day's work, and give vigor before an important event. Today we will figure out how sizzling geysers affect a person's mood, and find out how to make a bath bomb beautiful, effervescent and fragrant.

What is the effect of the bomb

A home bomb is a product that consists of specially selected components: mud, oils, herbs and other products. For beauty and special charm, flower petals, sparkles or dried herbs are put inside.

These bath fizzes have long been loved by users thanks to their healing properties... The main ingredient is baking soda, which perfectly saves from skin irritations and itching, but citric acid makes a ball sizzle effectively in water. All additional ingredients help to recreate the fragrance, soften the skin and give a wonderful mood.

The classic herbal bath bomb recipe

All herbal bath bombs are prepared with their own hands using the following technology. Take:

 • soda - 10 table. l;
 • citric acid - 5 tablespoons. l;
 • salt (sea) - 2 tablespoons. l;
 • any food pigment;
 • favorite essential oil - approx. 20 drops;
 • olive oil- no more than 1 tsp;
 • dry cream - 1 table. l;
 • a pinch of dried or fresh herbs;
 • glassware and gloves;
 • bomb molds (ice molds can be used).

The cooking instructions look like this:

 1. Be sure to wear gloves on your hands.
 2. In a glass bowl, combine the baking soda and lemon until smooth.
 3. Put sea salt and dye there too.
 4. Add cream, olive and essential oil, pour the ground herbs. Mix all ingredients until smooth.
 5. If the composition is mixed correctly, it will mold well.
 6. If the mass is poured, then a little water should be poured into it. It is only important not to overdo it, otherwise there is a risk that a hiss reaction will begin. In this case, quickly add some more soda and lemon to the composition.
 7. Form a ball from the plastic mass. This is not difficult. Sculpt like a regular snowball.
 8. Tamp the mixture tightly into the molds. These can be tennis balls cut in half, as well as egg cells and kinder molds.
 9. Leave the workpieces to dry for 15-20 minutes. Then remove the balls from the molds. If you have not violated the manufacturing technology, they will not break and chip.

Everything is ready! Simple and odorous geysers are ready. Such products, together with the author's soap, about the technology of creation of which we wrote, can easily become budgetary and an original gift on March 8 or New Year.

 • To create multi-colored fizzy, prepare a mixture of different tones, and tamp them one by one into a mold.
 • Use only food pigments, as they are completely safe for humans.
 • If you accidentally overmoisten the workpiece, dry it on the battery, or, keeping the proportions, add loose ingredients.
 • If you have a lot of material, but few forms, it doesn't matter. Tamp the mixture into a tighter mold, and remove immediately, leaving it to dry without the mold.
 • If the slurry does not want to stick together or crumbles after drying, then you have moistened it a little.
 • Use a spray bottle to avoid overdoing the amount of water.
 • If you only have solid butter, then you must melt it in the bath.
 • You should not use apricot and peach kernel oils, since the mass to which they are added does not retain its shape well.
 • Store ready-made bombs only in a dry place, or better sealed.

Video: DIY bath bombs

Every girl knows how good it is to soak in cold weather in hot tub with your favorite scent, relax and enjoy your vacation. Complete relaxation is possible with a bath bomb. It will fill the water with lots of bubbles that will glide nicely over the body. Not many people know how to make a bomb at home, in fact, it is much easier than it initially seems. Basically, they are quite diverse in shape, color, aroma, size, however, they hardly differ in the set of ingredients required for cooking, you can buy them in any store. The main effect of the bombs is foaming with the release of a small amount of hydrogen when combined with water.

The base is the main ingredient

A base is needed to make a bath bomb. For this purpose, baking soda and citric acid are most often used, in a 2: 1 ratio. These ingredients make up 60 to 90% of all ingredients. Also, instead of citric acid, you can choose any other acid that is harmless to your delicate skin as a base.

Binding and Powder Ingredients

Powdered ingredients are a must if you want a good texture, although you can skip them if necessary. It all depends on whether you are doing it for yourself or as a gift, or even for sale.

Homemade bombs at home involve the use of any powder: flour, milk powder, starch, or even fine salt - anything you want, then let your imagination run wild. These ingredients should make up no more than 30-35% of the total mass of the finished mixture.

Binding ingredients are special additives that help all the components of the bomb to stick together and not crumble. Most often, ordinary aromatic oil or water is used for such purposes. It should be borne in mind that the amount of liquid in finished product should not exceed 10-15%.

Let's take a look at how to make a homemade bomb using oil-based binders. In order for all the components of the mixture to be well bonded to each other, but at the same time, when interacting with water, the chemical reaction we need occurs, it is best to use: shea butter, coconut oil or cocoa butter. They not only bind the substances together, but also perfectly moisturize your skin. These bombs will be softer than those that use water.

If the binder is water, then the product will be very hard and durable. Since water is a catalyst and at the same time evaporates quickly, it must be used very carefully, and also add a couple of drops of alcohol to it.

Are dyes needed

Whether or not to add dyes to bombs is only your personal wish and decision. You can use any natural or artificial, water and oil based. It's a matter of taste.

Remember that oil-based or mineral-based colorants work best with ingredients in which you choose to use oil as a binder. They also work well with any powders added to bombs.

But the dyes on water based preferably used with aqueous binders. They also go well with powders, including fine salt.

The proportions in which it is worth adding dyes are not indicated anywhere, because it all depends on the size and volume of the bomb at home.

It is not enough to know how to make a bomb at home, you must also use the simplest and necessary advice for its manufacture.

 1. Use aromatic oils to add flavor to the product.
 2. Do not use two oils in the same product that are intended to calm and stimulate.
 3. Use an ice mold to make the bombs look like figurines.
 4. Ready-made bombs should be stored in sealed bags, in cling film.
 5. If aroma oil it weathered over time, you can drop it on the bomb again and after a couple of minutes lower it into the bath.

Cooking process

Knowing how to make a bomb at home can save you a decent amount of money and have fun basking in warm water every time.

 1. First of all, all dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed together. There should be no lumps. The soaps are melted and mixed with the dry mixture. Everything is mixed until smooth.
 2. The flavors can now be added. Mix again.
 3. The resulting mass is laid out by hand in molds and carefully compacted. If there are no molds, you can simply roll the balls, flattening them slightly with your palm.
 4. The bombs are dried.
 5. The very last step is to add the dye. This is best done with a pipette, a few drops at a time.
 6. The bombs are ready and can now be used.

DIY bath bomb

Now a few recipes for making bath bombs. There is nothing complicated in this and all this can be perfectly done with your own hands, and not bought in stores for a lot of money. I tried it myself and made amazing bombs with my favorite essential oils. Taking a bath with a scented bomb is a pleasure.

So, let's get started, to prepare 1 bomb we need:

4 tablespoons of regular baking soda;
- 2 tablespoons of citric acid;
- 2 tablespoons of any oil (olive, almond, etc.);
- 2 tablespoons of filler (milk powder, dry cream, sea salt, herbs, etc.)
- 5-8 drops of your favorite essential oils;
- molds (you can use children's dishes or 2 identical round plastic mugs, which will need to be connected together to make it look like a circle).

Next, mix the soda, citric acid, oil, filler well in a convenient container. The mass should be like slightly wet sand. Then we tamp the resulting mass into molds and leave to dry for 8-10 hours. To make the bombs well removed, you can first grease the molds with vegetable or olive oil.

All the bomb is ready! As you can see, there is nothing complicated. Put the bomb in the bath and enjoy :) Keep the bombs in a dry place.

Another recipe for making a mint bomb, the so-called "mint" bomb.
We will need:
- 4 tbsp. l. soda;
- 2 tbsp. l. citric acid;
- 2 tbsp. l. dry cream or milk powder;
- 2 tbsp. l. bath beads (optional);
- 1 tbsp. l. bath salts;
- 2 tbsp. l. olive oil;
- 20 drops of peppermint essential oil;
- 1 tbsp. l. mint herbs (sold at the pharmacy).

Mix baking soda and citric acid in a convenient container and rub thoroughly with a spoon. Then add the dry cream (milk) and rub it well again, then add olive oil and mint essential oil one by one and mix again. Then add the bath salt, dried mint and beads (optional) for the bath. Continuing to stir the resulting mixture with a spoon, spray it from a spray bottle so that it becomes slightly damp. A lot of water does not need to be added, the finished mixture should stick together. Now, put the resulting mixture in a greased mold and tamp it well. You can try to do it just by hand different figures... Put the finished bomb on paper and dry it for several hours.

We throw the bomb in the bath and get a lot of pleasure :)

And in the end, as I promised in the previous article on soap making, I post another recipe for making soap with my own hands, the so-called "puff soap".

To prepare the top layer, rub the baby or any other soap on a grater and melt in a water bath. Add any dyes and essential oils to it. Then fill with the resulting mass only half of the prepared form, if the soap is two-layer and one third of the form, if the soap is three-layer. To make the layer of soap stick together, smooth out the resulting first layer with a small spoon and let the layer cool. To prepare the second (third) layer, we do everything the same as for the first. Then, let the prepared soap cool and remove it from the mold. That's it, puff soap is ready.

You can perfectly relax, rest, put your body and spirit in order if you take a bath with a fizzy. Bath bombs have recently become fashionable, but those who have already tried this miracle know its extraordinary effect on the body. Today we will try to make such sizzling bath bombs with our own hands. The recipes for them are simple and safe enough that you can make them with your kids and then try them in a full bath!

Homemade bath bombs

To begin with, here's the simplest recipe for the basics that you can use for children's bathroom games. Having learned how to make the base of the bomb, then you can experiment with flavors. So, we need:

 • soda - 4 tablespoons,
 • coarse salt - 8 tablespoons,
 • any vegetable oil.

An important clarification. Soda should always be 2 times more than citric acid, only in this case we will ensure the correct chemical reaction. Also remember to use gloves!

Citric acid, soda and salt thoroughly, for several minutes, grind and mix in a cup. We make sure there are no lumps! Now add the oil gradually, rubbing the mass with your hands. The mixture should be plastic, but at the same time dryish. No need to achieve the consistency of plasticine! The resulting mass is tightly rammed into a previously prepared container. The simplest thing at home is to take a baking dish or container from Kinder Surprise. To make our workpiece fit more tightly, you can add a little alcohol to it. This will moisten the mixture and compact it better. Never use water for this - it will start a reaction, and alcohol will not have any effect. Plus it will evaporate quickly. Now let our bath bombs harden for a few hours. After that we easily remove them from the molds and they are ready for use! It is enough to throw a bomb in the bathroom, and it starts to hiss, releasing many bubbles - this is a chemical reaction with the release of carbon dioxide.

Bathroom Bomb Recipes

After we understood the meaning of making bath bombs (and learned how to make them), it's time to give some recipes for their manufacture.

The general idea of aromatizing bombs is as follows: there is a base (we made it with our own hands a little higher), to which aromatic components (for example, essential oils) and, possibly, some dyes are added.

The choice of oil should not be approached thoughtlessly, because they have different effects. For example, olive oil works well for dry skin, while coconut or almond oil works well for oily skin. Lavender soothes and relaxes, while citrus oils invigorate and tone.

Essential oils should be added literally drop by drop. When adding essential oils to the base, the bomb will probably sizzle. In this case, you need to quickly stir the mixture. If that doesn't work, add some baking soda.

Below are some recipes for sizzling bath bombs.

Soothing Bath Bomb Recipe

The soothing bath bomb is based on lavender. Add a few drops of lavender oil and purple food coloring to the base. The complete relaxation bath bomb recipe looks like this:

 • purple food coloring - 5 drops.

Bath toning bomb

 • sea salt - 8 tablespoons,
 • orange essential oil - 10-15 drops,

 • orange food coloring - 5 drops.
