Anatoly Mikhailovich Sedykh was born in 1964. Graduated from MISIS. Candidate economic sciences... He began his career as an economist at the Central Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy. In 1999 he headed the Vyksa Steel Works (VMZ) and for a relatively short term brought the company out of the crisis. Since 1999 A.M. Sedykh is the General Director of the United Metallurgical Company and at the same time the Chairman of the Board of Directors of VSW. Initiated and implemented a number of major investment projects at the enterprises of the company. In 2002, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Metallurgical Company. On January 23, 2003, at a meeting of the OMK Board of Directors, A.M. Sedykh was appointed President of ZAO OMK. On April 12, 2006, at the General Meeting of Shareholders of ZAO OMK, it was decided to early terminate the powers of A.M. Sedykh as President of the United Metallurgical Company and his election as a member of the Board of Directors. History
History of the United Metallurgical Company is the story of the revival of a large group of ferrous metallurgy enterprises. In time, it coincides with the period of the transition of our state to new stage economic and historical development... 1992, the year of the creation of the United Metallurgical Company, was marked by a whole series of major events. It was in this year that the economic reform in the country began and ended " cold war", important political documents were signed concerning relations between Russia and CIS countries finally, it was in 1992 that Russia was recognized as an independent state in most countries of the world. The creative spirit of the times was reflected in the start of OMK. United Metallurgical Company began with the construction of a titanium ferrotitanium workshop with borrowed money. The start was successful - the investment paid off in less than a year. The profits made by the founders of the company, including the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMK A.M. Sedykh, used for business development. This principle - investment in development - determines OMK's activities to this day.
For 16 years, the company has included many well-known enterprises of the metallurgical industry in Russia, including the Vyksa metallurgical, Almetyevsk pipe, Chusovskaya and Shchelkovo metallurgical plants, Gubakhinsky coke, Chelyabinsk Trubodetal plant. Many of them, having become part of OMK, received a "second wind".
For example, one of the oldest metallurgical enterprises in Russia, the Vyksa Metallurgical Plant, despite its enormous potential, was practically on the verge of shutting down in the late 90s. Its entry into OMK in 1999 began with a complete restructuring of the management system and modernization of production. In subsequent years, significant financial resources were allocated to the development of production at VSW. Today VMZ is the leader in the Russian market for pipes and railway wheels.
Shchelkovo Metallurgical Plant joined OMK in 2000 being practically bankrupt. According to the bankruptcy commissioner, the plant's technological automation systems were worn out by 100 percent, and equipment by 50 percent. Buildings and structures required major repairs. OMK has implemented a major investment program at ShchMZ, as a result of which the plant has been transformed into a unique enterprise. ShchMZ produces a precision strip for CRT shadow masks. Only two enterprises in the world - in Germany and Japan - manufacture products of a similar purpose.
In 2001, Gubakhinsky Koks became part of OMK. The history of this plant is an example of two diametrically opposite approaches to business. The plant, built in 1936, had to be reconstructed in the 90s. In 1990, a new coke oven battery was commissioned. However, then government funding was discontinued. By the end of the twentieth century, "Gubakhinsky Koks", which changed several owners within ten years, was brought to an almost complete stop: both the built battery and the main production due to misuse were destroyed and disabled. OMK has invested nearly $ 15 million in the reconstruction of the Gubakhinsky plant. The technological shops of the chemical redistribution were modernized. In February 2002, the BIS coke oven battery No. 2 with a capacity of 650 thousand tons of dry coke per year was put into operation. Over the past 16 years, this is the first new battery in Russia that meets the highest technical requirements. In 2006, the refinery completed work on the reconstruction of the coke oven battery N1 and the construction of a unit for cleaning coke oven gas from ammonia.
In 2002, the Almetyevsk Pipe Plant became part of OMK. It is one of the main suppliers of products for the fuel and energy complex in the Middle Volga region. The entry of ATZ into OMK opened up new prospects for the company in this region.
In 2005, the Chelyabinsk plant OJSC Trubodetal became part of OMK, one of the largest enterprises in Russia and the CIS that manufactures fittings for pipelines from low-alloy steel with a diameter of 57-1420 mm. Trubodetal is a key supplier for the construction of oil and gas communications, as well as trunk networks. The need for this merger became apparent during the first contract for the supply of large-diameter pipes for the North European Gas Pipeline and will allow the OMK Pipe Division to offer consumers complex solutions for the construction of backbone networks.
In April 2005, a line for the production of single-seam longitudinal seam pipes was put into operation at the Vyksa Steel Works. The line is designed for the production of pipes up to 1420 mm in diameter, wall thickness up to 48 mm, internal pressure up to 250 atm., With external anti-corrosion and internal smooth coatings - set unique characteristics never used in Russia and the CIS countries. In November 2005, OMK began production of large-diameter pipes / LDP 1420 mm, wall thickness 21 mm, internal pressure over 100 atm / for the construction of the onshore section "Nord Stream" / NEG / under a contract with OJSC Gazprom. Today OMK is a key supplier of large-diameter pipes for the onshore section of the Nord Stream project. Since the beginning of its participation in it, VMZ has produced and supplied more than 250 thousand tons of large-diameter pipes for the construction of the gas pipeline. OMK is participating in a tender for the supply of pipes for the underwater part of the Nord Stream. In April 2007, Vyksa Steel Works became the first and only in Russia and the CIS qualified manufacturer of DNV-OS-F101 pipes for subsea pipeline systems. From II quarter. 2008 OMK supplies pipes with a diameter of 1219 mm. with wall thickness from 27 to 41 mm, strength group X70 according to DNV standard.
In June 2005, OMK began construction of a casting and rolling complex / LPK / in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. LPK OMK will produce rolled products with special properties for the production of welded single-seam pipes of medium diameter. The first stage of the LPK with a capacity of 1.5 million tons was commissioned in October 2008, which allowed Vyksa Steel and Almetyevsk Pipe Plants to switch to billet own production OMK, thereby closing the self-sufficiency cycle. The volume of investments in the first stage of the timber industry complex is $ 1.2 billion, in the second stage - $ 600 million.
