Large businessman Anatoly Mikhailovich Sedykh is quite young, but already very rich. The public is always interested in how such large fortunes are made. Since there is usually little information about the life of big businessmen in the public domain. We will tell you about how the biography of Anatoly Sedykh developed, how he reached his heights and what he does today.

Origin

The future entrepreneur was born in a harsh land, in the city of Zapolyarny ( Murmansk region), November 28, 1964. Anatoly does not cover his childhood and parents. His early years fell on the height of the Soviet era, when no one even thought about his business. Therefore, the boy's childhood was quite typical for that era. The city of Zapolyarny (Murmansk region) is quite young; it was formed in 1955. Geologists and builders came here. The settlement appeared thanks to the beginning of the development of a copper-nickel deposit. Zapolyarny is located 100 km northwest of Murmansk. A small young city lives off the development of the bowels of the Earth. Two large enterprises are city-forming: the Mining and Metallurgical Company and the Mining and Metallurgical Combine. The place of birth to a certain extent predetermined the fate of Anatoly Sedykh.

Education

After school, Anatoly Sedykh entered the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. This leading research institution in the country trains specialists in the field of materials science and metallurgy. Sedykh studied at the Faculty of Economics and Management industrial enterprise and received a diploma in engineering economics in 1987. In 1998, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the management team in the holding's management at the State University of Management.

The beginning of the way

After graduating from the university, Anatoly Sedykh is assigned to the Central Scientific Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy named after V.I. Bardin, where she works in her specialty. Research Institute specialized in fundamental and applied research in the field of creating new materials and metallurgy. Anatoly began to study science, although the times were not very suitable for this. Late 80s - early 90s Soviet science was in a deep financial crisis. In 1989 Sedykh left the research institute and went to work in the joint research and production enterprise "Korund", where he held the position of the head of the department. This enterprise closed type was engaged in secret developments. But Anatoly was attracted to independence, and he quickly leaves this institution.

Becoming a businessman

In 1989, Anatoly Mikhailovich Sedykh, together with a group of like-minded partners, decided to open his own business. They are building a workshop in the Moscow region for the processing of scrap metal and the production of a special intermediate alloy used in the manufacture of stainless steel, ferrotitanium. The company was called Vtormetinvest, for the organization of production Sedykh and the company took out a loan of $ 1.5 million from Sberbank. Obviously, such loans are not given to everyone in a row, and even then Sedykh formed a serious support group, which more than once helped him in business.

In 1990, the businessman and his comrades set up the Tekhnoinvest trading company, which was engaged in the supply of metal. In 1992, he registered the Metallurgical Financial and Investment Company LLP, which was also involved in metal trading. In 1993 Sedykh became the main initiator of the creation of Metallinvestbank, this project received the support of the Committee for Metallurgy of the Russian Federation. The bank was founded by the most serious Russian metallurgical complexes: Severstal, Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant, enterprises of Chelyabinsk, Tula. In the first 6 years of the existence of the Sedykh Bank, his Bank was rapidly gaining momentum. Anatoly Mikhailovich and his partners are buying up shares of various Russian metallurgical enterprises, including the Vyksa Steel Works, specializing in the production of pipes. Sedykh also creates the A-Technoinvest company.

Metallurgy Tycoon

In 1997, Anatoly Mikhailovich, through his bank, buys the oldest ferrous metallurgy enterprise in the Urals - the Chusovoy Metallurgical Plant. With the help of large investments, Sedykh managed to make the enterprise a leader in Russia in the production of ferrovanadium and the production of complex rolled products and auto springs.

In 1999, Sedykh became CEO, and in a fairly short time he was able to get him out of the deep financial crisis, set up production, and improved working conditions for employees.

Business of life: "United Metallurgical Company"

But that was only the beginning of the journey. In 1999, the United Metallurgical Company, a closed joint stock company, was established on the basis of VMZ. But such a large-scale project needed a strong leader. The head of the new huge structure was the director of the Vyksa plant, Anatoly Sedykh. Over the years, OMK has become the largest manufacturer of various products for the transport and energy industries in Russia. Thanks to gigantic investments, 7 large metallurgical enterprises gradually gathered under the OMK brand, including VMZ, Chelyabinsk Trubodetal plant, a pipe plant in Almetyevsk, a casting and rolling complex in Nizhny Novgorod, an armature plant in Bashkir Blagoveshchensk, and OMK's own pipe plant in Houston. OMK ranks first in Russia in the production of many types of metal products. In 2013, Sedykh and his partners redeemed shares from all owners of the enterprise association. The factories are now private, non-public companies. Anatoly Mikhailovich continues to develop OMK. So, on his initiative, the company spent huge amounts of money on a project to produce thick-walled pipes that are used in gas pipelines. This allowed OMK to become the main supplier of the international Nord Stream project. In 2008, the Sedykh company built a huge plant for the production of large diameter pipes in Europe. OMK is developing and growing, although not all of the company's projects are successful, Sedykh periodically encounter difficulties with the operation of individual plants. So, it was not possible to modernize the Chusovsky plant, although more than 4 billion rubles were invested in it.

Business interests

The United Metallurgical Company, owned by A. Sedykh, is not his only brainchild, although it is the main thing. The entrepreneur retains his share of participation in banking, he is a member of the Boards of Directors of several large manufacturing enterprises Russia. In 2016, a hacker attack took place at Metallinvestbank, as a result of which the bank lost more than 600 million rubles. The investigation into this case has not yet been completed. Today, the interests of Sedykh are shifting to the sphere of rolling and foundry production, he has established a large-scale production of wheels for railway transport. In his business, Sedykh consistently follows the path of concentration and business modernization, even if sometimes great obstacles are encountered along this path.

State

For several years Anatoly has been included in the list of 200 richest businessmen in Russia according to Forbes magazine. The fortune of the person who owns the United Metallurgical Company is estimated today at about $ 400 million, and he is on the 194th line of the rating. However, this is not the best result of an entrepreneur. In 2012, he was on the 44th line with a fortune of $ 2,000.

Personal life

Stability and reliability are the main principles that Anatoly Sedykh adheres to. The businessman's family only confirms these views. Anatoly has long been married to Irina, who together with him is involved in a charitable foundation. The couple has two twin sons who were born in 2000. Businessman in free time he is fond of football, travel.

Charity

- I'll break it into a cake, wrap it up! - shouted the angry officer at the soldier, - turn back with your whore.
- Mr. Adjutant, protect me. What is this? - shouted the medic.
“I’m sorry to skip this carriage. Can't you see that this is a woman? - said Prince Andrey, driving up to the officer.
The officer glanced at him and, without answering, turned back to the soldier: - I'll go around those ... Back! ...
“Pass it on, I’m telling you,” Prince Andrey repeated again, pursing his lips.
- And who are you? The officer suddenly turned to him with drunken fury. - Who are you? You (he especially pressed on you) the boss, eh? Here I am the boss, not you. You, back, - he repeated, - I'll smash it into a cake.
The officer apparently liked this expression.
- It is important to shave off the adjutant, - came a voice from behind.
Prince Andrew saw that the officer was in that drunken fit of gratuitous rage, in which people do not remember what they were saying. He saw that his intercession for the medicinal wife in the wagon was full of what he feared most in the world, what is called ridicule, but his instinct told him otherwise. The officer did not have time to finish last words as Prince Andrey, with a face disfigured with rage, rode up to him and raised the whip:
- From the wills about let it go!
The officer waved his hand and hastily rode away.
“It's all from these, from the staff, it's all a mess,” he grumbled. - Do as you know.
Prince Andrey hastily, without raising his eyes, drove away from the medicinal wife, who called him a savior, and, recalling with disgust the smallest details of this humiliating scene, galloped on to the village where, as he was told, the commander-in-chief was.
Having entered the village, he got off his horse and went to the first house with the intention of resting even for a minute, eating something and bringing all these offensive thoughts tormenting him to clarity. “This is a crowd of scoundrels, not an army,” he thought, going up to the window of the first house, when a familiar voice called him by name.
He looked around. From small window Nesvitsky's handsome face protruded. Nesvitsky, chewing something with his juicy mouth and waving his hands, called him to him.
- Bolkonsky, Bolkonsky! Can't you hear it? Go quickly, ”he shouted.
Entering the house, Prince Andrey saw Nesvitsky and another adjutant, eating something. They hastily asked Bolkonsky if he knew anything new. On their faces so familiar to him, Prince Andrew read an expression of alarm and concern. This expression was especially noticeable on the always laughing face of Nesvitsky.
- Where is the commander-in-chief? Bolkonsky asked.
“Here, in that house,” answered the adjutant.
- Well, well, is it true that peace and surrender? - asked Nesvitsky.
- I'm asking you. I don't know anything, except that I got to you forcibly.
- And we, brother, what! Horror! I blame, brother, they laughed at Mack, but they themselves have it even worse, - said Nesvitsky. - Yes, sit down, eat something.
“Now, prince, you won't find anything, Prince, and your Peter, God knows where,” said another adjutant.
- Where is the main apartment?
- We will spend the night in Znaim.
“And so I packed everything I needed for myself for two horses,” said Nesvitsky, “and they made excellent packs for me. At least get away through the Bohemian mountains. Bad, brother. Why are you, surely unwell, why are you shuddering so? - asked Nesvitsky, noticing how prince Andrey jerked, as if from touching the Leyden bank.
“Nothing,” answered Prince Andrew.
At that moment he recalled a recent confrontation with the medicinal wife and the Furshtat officer.
- What is the commander-in-chief doing here? - he asked.
“I don’t understand,” said Nesvitsky.
“I only understand that everything is disgusting, disgusting and disgusting,” said Prince Andrey and went into the house where the commander-in-chief was standing.
Passing by Kutuzov's carriage, the tortured riding horses of the retinue and the Cossacks, who were talking loudly among themselves, Prince Andrey entered the vestibule. Kutuzov himself, as they told Prince Andrei, was in the hut with Prince Bagration and Weyrother. Weyrother was the Austrian general who replaced the slain Schmit. In the hallway, little Kozlovsky was squatting in front of a clerk. A clerk on an inverted tub, twisting the cuffs of his uniform, hurriedly wrote. Kozlovsky's face was exhausted - he, apparently, also did not sleep at night. He glanced at Prince Andrew and did not even nod his head to him.

Sedykh as President of the United Metallurgical Company and his election as a member of the Board of Directors. Later, at a meeting of the Board of Directors, A.M. was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors

History

History of the United Metallurgical Company is the story of the revival of a large group of ferrous metallurgy enterprises. In time, it coincides with the period of the transition of our state to new stage economic and historical development... 1992, the year of the creation of the United Metallurgical Company, was marked by a whole series of major events. It was in this year that the economic reform in the country began and ended " cold war", important political documents were signed concerning relations between Russia and CIS countries finally, it was in 1992 that Russia was recognized as an independent state in most countries of the world. The creative spirit of the times was reflected in the start of OMK. United Metallurgical Company began with the construction of a titanium ferrotitanium workshop with borrowed money. The start was successful - the investment paid off in less than a year. The profits made by the founders of the company, including the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMK A.M. Sedykh, used for business development. This principle - investment in development - determines OMK's activities to this day.

For 16 years, the company has included many well-known enterprises of the metallurgical industry in Russia, including the Vyksa metallurgical, Almetyevsk pipe, Chusovskaya and Shchelkovo metallurgical plants, Gubakhinsky coke, Chelyabinsk Trubodetal plant. Many of them, having become part of OMK, received a "second wind".

For example, one of the oldest metallurgical enterprises in Russia, the Vyksa Metallurgical Plant, despite its enormous potential, was practically on the verge of shutting down in the late 90s. Its entry into OMK in 1999 began with a complete restructuring of the management system and modernization of production. In subsequent years, significant financial resources were allocated to the development of production at VSW. Today VMZ is the leader in the Russian market for pipes and railway wheels.

Shchelkovo Metallurgical Plant joined OMK in 2000 being practically bankrupt. According to the bankruptcy commissioner, the plant's technological automation systems were worn out by 100 percent, and equipment by 50 percent. Buildings and structures required major repairs. OMK has implemented a major investment program at ShchMZ, as a result of which the plant has been transformed into a unique enterprise. ShchMZ produces a precision strip for CRT shadow masks. Only two enterprises in the world - in Germany and Japan - manufacture products of a similar purpose.

In 2001, Gubakhinsky Koks became part of OMK. The history of this plant is an example of two diametrically opposite approaches to business. The plant, built in 1936, had to be reconstructed in the 90s. In 1990, a new coke oven battery was commissioned. However, then government funding was discontinued. By the end of the twentieth century, "Gubakhinsky Koks", which changed several owners within ten years, was brought to an almost complete stop: both the built battery and the main production due to misuse were destroyed and disabled. OMK has invested nearly $ 15 million in the reconstruction of the Gubakhinsky plant. The technological shops of the chemical redistribution were modernized. In February 2002, the BIS coke oven battery No. 2 with a capacity of 650 thousand tons of dry coke per year was put into operation. Over the past 16 years, this is the first new battery in Russia that meets the highest technical requirements. In 2006, the refinery completed work on the reconstruction of the coke oven battery N1 and the construction of a unit for cleaning coke oven gas from ammonia.

In 2002, the Almetyevsk Pipe Plant became part of OMK. It is one of the main suppliers of products for the fuel and energy complex in the Middle Volga region. The entry of ATZ into OMK opened up new prospects for the company in this region.

In 2005, the Chelyabinsk plant OJSC Trubodetal became part of OMK, one of the largest enterprises in Russia and the CIS that manufactures fittings for pipelines from low-alloy steel with a diameter of 57-1420 mm. Trubodetal is a key supplier for the construction of oil and gas communications, as well as trunk networks. The need for this merger became apparent during the first contract for the supply of large-diameter pipes for the North European Gas Pipeline and will allow the OMK Pipe Division to offer consumers complex solutions for the construction of backbone networks.

In April 2005, a line for the production of single-seam longitudinal seam pipes was put into operation at the Vyksa Steel Works. The line is designed for the production of pipes up to 1420 mm in diameter, wall thickness up to 48 mm, internal pressure up to 250 atm., With external anti-corrosion and internal smooth coatings - set unique characteristics never used in Russia and the CIS countries. In November 2005, OMK began production of large-diameter pipes / LDP 1420 mm, wall thickness 21 mm, internal pressure over 100 atm / for the construction of the onshore section "Nord Stream" / NEG / under a contract with OJSC Gazprom. Today OMK is a key supplier of large-diameter pipes for the onshore section of the Nord Stream project. Since the beginning of its participation in it, VMZ has produced and supplied more than 250 thousand tons of large-diameter pipes for the construction of the gas pipeline. OMK is participating in a tender for the supply of pipes for the underwater part of the Nord Stream. In April 2007, Vyksa Steel Works became the first and only in Russia and the CIS qualified manufacturer of DNV-OS-F101 pipes for subsea pipeline systems. From II quarter. 2008 OMK supplies pipes with a diameter of 1219 mm. with wall thickness from 27 to 41 mm, strength group X70 according to DNV standard.

In June 2005, OMK began construction of a casting and rolling complex / LPK / in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. LPK OMK will produce rolled products with special properties for the production of welded single-seam pipes of medium diameter. The first stage of the LPK with a capacity of 1.5 million tons was commissioned in October 2008, which allowed Vyksa Steel and Almetyevsk Pipe Plants to switch to billet own production OMK, thereby closing the self-sufficiency cycle. The volume of investments in the first stage of the timber industry complex is $ 1.2 billion, in the second stage - $ 600 million.
