It remains in the rank

In a premium sheet, Valery Greenchak has lines:

"Especially bright commander qualities of Captain Greenchak V.I. They manifested themselves in a collision with rebels on July 14, 1984. Rota entered into battle with a numerically superior gang of rebels and led it for several hours. During the cruel battle, the officer was in the company's chain, showing courage and composure. He got a serious injury of both legs. Forceing severe pain, he independently had a medical care. Showing a sample of courage and courage, the battlefield did not leave, continued to control the actions of the company. Personal composition shocked by the heroism of his commander, took all measures to achieve the victory ... "

And she came. Rota in that severe battle with a gang of Dushmanov won. But with the last shots, the battle for the commander - Captain Greenchak was not over. Wounds were too serious.

Doctors warned: "You will live, but the leg amputation is necessary." Revented painful days of treatment. First in the medical battalion, then in a military hospital. But neither doctors nor sisters have never heard either groans or complaints from him.

Stronger pain tormented Valery thought: how to live on? Yes, he admired at the School feat of Alexei Maresev. But can he be such as Maresyev, is the same strong, stubborn, so increasing?

When the wounds were approaching, Valery Greenchak was transported to the Central Research Institute of Prosthetics and Prosthetics. At the first inspection, the leading specialist assured:

You will, commander, walk! But much depends on you.

I was looking forward to the Greenchak of this day. And when the first time I got out of bed, the whole body pierced the sharpest pain. But he took a step, then the second. The officer, which aparted with the military discipline, did not retreat from the treatment appointed by the professor. He fell, but again found the strength to rise. And she went again. Fucked forward as in the attack.

And when it felt that it was happening that it was not a victory came, and he came to the victory, took a clean sheet of paper from the nurse and wrote: "The USSR Defense Minister", and a little lower: "report". Outlined his short biography and asked to leave in the armed forces. I didn't believe in success, but I was very hoping.

Now he is again in the Army-building - the hero of the Soviet Union Captain Valery Ivanovich Grinka.

Vladimir Klimov. - See "We are internationalists." Set of postcards. - M.: Ed. "Poster", 1987.

Blowing up on Mine and having lost in 27 years of both legs, the officer did not break down and, contrary to the forecasts of the pessimists, returned to the army system

Before serving in Afghanistan, his track record was typical of the Soviet officer. In 1978, Valery Greenchak graduated with honors from the Kiev Higher Officer School, which gave him the right to choose further service. However, Greenchak preferred the "warm" town of Greenchak (in the same GDR or Hungary), Greenchak preferred a service consisting of the 13th separate landing assault brigade of the Far Eastern Military District. And only four years later, he was sent to the Central Group of Forces (Czechoslovakia) to the post of intelligence company commander. And at a time to the division, a discharge came: one commander of the reconnaissance and two commanders of intelligence officers send to the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan

On the eve of the day of the disabled person, which yesterday was celebrated in Ukraine, the Factory's freelance correspondent met with the Hero of the Soviet Union by Valery Grinka.

"When we collected the bodies of the fallen, the Panjscher Valley seemed to death valley"

The commander of the exhaust me then rightly said: "Valera, I will recommend you - write a report," Valery Greenchak recalls. -- Why me? At that moment I had the experience of the command of exploded, behind the shoulders - dozens of parachute jumps and, finally, from the seven commander of scaming in the division I was the only ... Bachelor.

Upon arrival in Afghanistan, I spent the first night in Kabul. According to the "Movie" for our soldiers, they turned a movie, and for some reason I remembered a phrase very well, said by the German general: "The civil war can go infinitely" ... And however, we understood it well: Afghanistan is for a long time. So, soon I was appointed to the post of commander of reconnaissance 285 tank shelf 108 of the motorized rifle division (one of the most fooling in the 40th army). In the winter (and it was 193th) on the basis of we spent the weeks of one and two. Everything else time - in the mountains. They were accompanied by autocolon, they conducted the intelligence and so-called realization of intelligence ("stripping" of Kislakov, taken into cords), organized ambushes, for which he received their first combat award - the Order of the Red Star. Then I managed to outwit the dusts, creating the illusion that the autocolonna of Soviet cars was reached without proper accompaniment. And sawn on this hook peeled

Mujahideen successfully used our miscalculations, especially when people who did not have experience in conducting hostilities in the mountains were involved in operations. As, for example, do not remember the tragedy, which walked in the Panjshera Valley on the night of April 30 to May 1, 1984. Then the battalion of our regiment suffered huge losses - 52 killed and 58 wounded (later, many died from the wounds received in hospitals). Without orgvodov, then, of course, did not cost - the commander of the regiment and the comgon was removed from the posts. Although the lion's share of guilt lies on the conscience of the Kombat ... only by morning, when I finished the evacuation of the wounded and the removal of the bodies killed from the mountain gorges, a terrible picture was opened before my eyes: the Panjscher Valley seemed to me the Death Valley! ..

And what were the loss of your company?

Three killed and 12 wounded. And this for the year, while I commanded intelligence! .. By the way, this fact played not the last role when I was represented by the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union

"Taking a look at what was left of my legs, I thought:" Well, everything. Dismantled. "

At the end of June, the 84th, we were alarmed on the next combat task, successfully completed it and already when they returned ... It happened on July 14. I perfectly remember that moment when the earth shuddered under his feet and in the face I was lying fire. I still managed to shout subordinates: "Everything is back! Supper, to me! ". Fortunately, Mine was no longer. I called the Sannaster, and he nailed me a portion of Promedol, removing my pain. I glanced at my feet, more precisely, the thought left, and the thought flashed in my head: "Well, everything dismantled." An explosive wave of the right leg was torn off, the left - it crushed. (Later, due to the strongly progressed of a sysegna infection, who set the life of Valery on the line between life and death, the doctors were forced to amputate and left legs. - Aut.). In addition, when the explosion was very affected by the face: it was cut by fragments of the bones of my legs. And only a completely inexplicable way I did not lose sight: when the explosion was badly damaged by the right eye, and under the left eyebrow "imprinted" until now the powder dust.

About my injury on the radio immediately informed the regiment commander, and he immediately sent a helicopter after me. Laying the car with departure at least half an hour, and the question, I survive, or not, I would not stand before doctors. In the meantime, we flew in Bagram, I lost consciousness several times. As I was taken to the local Medsanbat, as operated on (the operation lasted all day!), I do not remember. Finally came into consciousness already in the intensive care chamber.

The next day, after surgery, I was visited by the platoon commander and brought with him a boiled chicken. Where he took her, I do not know. But the chicken is the same day and slammed. The surgeon, which operated me, only Diva was given: they say how many years in medicine, and nothing of the kind in his practice has met.

For life, I remembered the face of the Sanitary of Sanitary Sports of the Tashkent District Hospital. Cutting me naked (the hair with baked blood was knocked into a koltun, and nothing else, as just to make them, did not remain), she suddenly leaned and whispered in his ear: "Son, checks? .." I was not difficult to read the checks: now You do not need them. Upon returning from Afghanistan, these were the first words that I heard in my homeland ... True, trying not to issue my indignation, I only squeezed: "Do not hurry me to bury me ... I still come to me anyone" ... for those who do not know what checks will explain: We received one third of your monthly officer salary in the currency. On average, this amount was 230-250 checks, which was equivalent to 500 Soviet rubles. So, I really got my money. True, already in Moscow. My colleagues handed them to me. They often came to visit me, in every way supported. Moreover, both officers and generals. In particular, the head of political management of the 40th Army Nikolay Remez.

And one of the first who supported me was my commander of the regiment lieutenant colonel Adam Chical (by the way, he now is the Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Supreme Council of Ukraine on Defense and National Security. - Aut.). Having broken the charter, Adam Vasilyevich left Bagram to Kabul, where there was an army hospital, and for a long time he implined doctors so that they saved my life. Having achieved a date with me, he said: "Valera, hold on! You will return to line! I believe in you!".

Later, Mom told that exactly a week before I blew up on Mine, she had a dream. As if there was no place from where the helicopter had a long helicopter over our hut, then, like a huge dragonfly, hangs over it and just as rapidly disappear. How to know, maybe that night she dreamed of that helicopter, on which me, wounded, was taken to the Bagram Medsanbat ... I didn't decrease for a long time to write her about what happened. And the first of the relatives, who found out about the tragedy, was my brother.

"With a high award, I came to congratulate Lev Yashin"

And when did you know about the assignment of the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union?

Already in Moscow, in the hospital. Burdenko. I remember, I also thought: "Well, if I die, even though it will not be so insulting" ... Although at first I did not really believe that the decree on my award would be signed. (For the entire Afghan campaign of the highest award of Motherland in the USSR, only 86 people were awarded, of which 27 - posthumously. - Aut.). However, on February 18, 1985, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPSU Konstantin Chernenko, the decree signed. Soon he died, and the awards ceremony moved to April 8, 85. Fate as it would give me a delay so that I manage to learn how to walk on the prosthesis.

My parents came to congratulate me with a star Hero, fellow villagers (I myself come from the Gaivorological District of the Kirovograd region), fellow soldiers in Afghanistan, in particular, the hero of the Soviet Union Ruslan Aushev. But what was especially nice for me is the arrival of Lion Yashin. The fact is that when I was transferred to the Central Research Institute of Prosthetics in Moscow, the legendary goalkeeper had already amputated the right leg, and a rehabilitation course was expected ahead. The happened Lev Ivanovich suffered courageously, did not fall into depression. "Guys, the main thing is to tune in to the victory," loved to repeat Yashin. So, Lev Ivanovich responded to the invitation and came to congratulate me with a reward. On that day, Yashin was, as they say, at full parade (Lev Ivanovich had the military rank of colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but, being a humble man, the form was extremely rare). By the way, domestic officials from medicine were categorically opposed to Yashin to master the prosthesis of imported production: they say, what are our worse? But the last word was behind Lvod Ivanovich, and the same gave preference to the prosthesis made in Finland. What to say about ordinary mortals: until the end of the 80s we dragged the extremely uncomfortable domestic prostheses.

But it did not prevent you from writing a report to the USSR Defense Minister with a request to leave you in military service, and now you are a stock colonel

Yes, my report was satisfied, and in April 1985 I was appointed to the post of senior assistant to the head of the Cruise Department of the Senior Commercial Economic School, and three years later translated into teaching work in the same university. In the 92nd school was disbanded, and I decided to quit the army and entered the correspondence department of Jurfak Kiev State University. Shevchenko. All these years I have been thinking about the former "Afghans" with pain, who were not able to find themselves at home. This, in fact, and pushed me and comrades in misfortune to the creation of the Kiev Society of Disabled Local Wars - military intelligence veterans, hostilities in Afghanistan and other countries.

Sakharov with Chervonopiskim at the congress of People's Deputies of the USSR provoked ... Glavfear SA and Navy "

Today we provide all the help of many of those who need it. From time to time we pay a one-time monetary allowance to families of the guys who died in Afghanistan. We help disabled with the receipt of food solders, gasoline ... Of course, this is very small. True, the Kiev disabled is easier. Alexander Omelchenko, our mayor (who passed through Afghanistan), treats the problems of persons with disabilities with understanding. But Kiev is not all Ukraine. At the periphery, things are much worse. I declare you as a consultant of the Committee on Pensioners, Veterans and Disabled Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Valery Ivanovich, returning to the topic of the Afghan War, tell me: It is true that our pilots in Afghanistan shot, as sugars claimed, their own, so that they did not get in captivity to dresses?

Not a single evidence confirming this was documented, I have not met. The prerequisite for this survivor has become an interview that Sakharov gave one foreign publication. Andrei Dmitrievich referred to only the testimonies of ordinary soldiers, the participants of the Afghan War ... (There are grounds to argue that this "deso" Sakharov was thrown into the leadership of the main military-political management of the CA and the Navy). It was not difficult to imagine how the "Afghans" will react to the statement of Sakharov. The same Chervonsky - a combat officer, paratrooper ... It was necessary to be a brilliant provocateur so that in the late 80s - early 90s manage to embroil the Democrats with the "Afghans". The performance of Chervonopian at the congress of the USSR Deputies of the USSR, Glavfur pursued its interests: After encountering the foreheads of the Democrats with the "Afghans", he thus expecting to fix his pretty agreed authority in the troops. This is just one example of how much dirt, intrigue and gossip was associated with the war in Afghanistan .... Much later, it became known to me how individual rods bought orders and medals, and I sincerely regretted that so little presented to the awards of my subordinates who really deserve it.

So without having met his half before serving in Afghanistan, on returning from there Valery believed that his status "convinced bachelor" would remain unchanged. He was walking forty for a second year when he met Tatiana. By that time, the girl had already managed to finish the honeycomb and went to work in the Clinical Hospital "Feofania". Their novel lasted for three months, after which Valery made the girl a sentence that Tanya took. For Valery, who did not suffer from the complex of inferiority, the consent of the girl to marry him was still a complete surprise.

Valera is a strong personality. Behind him, as behind the stone wall, - admitted Tatiana. - Neither Mom Valeria nor my parents were against our marriage. On the contrary, his mother is now different as a "Donka" and does not call me ... Before the wedding, Valera lived in this apartment with his brother, and when I first went to the house to them, I did not know what to expect: bachelors. But the cleanliness and order, which I discovered here, I was simply struck. Although the lack of a female hand affected. Now we are equipping our family hearth, this summer finished repairs in the apartment.

Is it expected in the Greenchak family replenishment? Tatiana smiled in response: "We work on it."

Goroshoco

Yaroslav Pavlovich

Commander company, captain. Born on October 4, 1957 in Ukraine, in the Ternopil region, in the teacher's family. In 1981 he graduated from Khmelnitsky Higher Military Command Artillery School. From September 1981 to November 1983, he participated in hostilities in Afghanistan: was a commander of a mortar platoon and an ardent assault company.
In 1986, he was sent to the second business trip to the Afghan war. In battle on October 31, 1987, at the head of the Special Forces group received an order to arrive to the rescue surrounded by an opponent of a group of senior lieutenant Onchik O.P.

... at dawn got a radio program: "We are waiting for reinforcements. We are attacked on all sides. " Kislak Duri did not miss. "Zelenka" near him was spoiled with shells like crazy. The helicopters "shied" from the salvos at a minimum height, changing the course and speed. And yet, again, retreat. But Yaroslav Mostroke thought about those who are downstairs.

That fighting from the village of Dari will enter the fighting history. Twelve attacks of two hundred and excess dusts reflected a small group of senior lieutenant Onbuchuk. Everyone will know how he himself, with a grenade in one hand, with a knife - in the other, with a scream: "We will show reverents how Russians die!" - Rushed to the enemies.

But then, on the adjustment to Duri, the peas did not know all this. He was getting Oleg Outboly five letters from his parents and his wife. Yaroslav knew what to run into ambush. Itself a week before it was contused, but he managed his mouth to a victorious end.

On the mouth he saw the slope of the altitude, dodied by the corpses of dusts. There were no numbers of the midst. But hope was warm.

- Comrade Captain, not ours? - He touched him by the shell-gunner sitting at the open door.

Now the peas noticed a thick chain of people dressed in the paratroopers jackets, with a suspicious openness of those who hurry to meet the dubs. I noticed ... and died about a guess: removed, bastards, form from the dead.

- Grenades for battle! Pink bayonets!

From this command of Captain Pea Time account for his subordinates went for seconds. They still did not have time to add the grenade grenade in the ravine, where the rebels were covered, and the guys already jumped on the go from the helicopter. Towards hand-to-hand combat.

The battle in which the heroic death was killed by Senior Lieutenant Onishchuk, still ended with a complete victory that brought the glory of the hero to his friend - the captain of Goroshko.

The most difficult in this war in the captain was still ahead. The first thing he was going to do, returned to his homeland, is to visit his friend's wife. And his little daughters ...

Upon returning from Afghanistan, Goroshko Ya.P. He became a listener of the MV Military Academy. Frunze, served as the commander of the special forces battalion, stood at the origins of the creation of military exploration of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Lieutenant Colonel Yaroslav Gåkås died on June 8, 1994 during the training swim in the Dnieper (according to the official version - drowned as a result of the heart stop). Both Sons - Ivan and Paul - went in the footsteps of the Father and became officers.

Linets (ending). In 1841, a Labinsky regiment was formed from the villages of Labinskaya, Chamlyk, Voznesenskaya and Vrubskaya with a certain number of retired soldiers of the Caucasian army. In 1858, a Urudition Brigade was formed while strengthening Maikop, which included the villages calm, subgrong, comfortable, advanced, serviceable and watchdog. They compiled a new line, stretching now along the Laba River. As in the old line, the lines settled here in small areas of the villages, surrounded by a turbulent, moat and thickets of a barbed thorns. They lived in a constant combat readiness, exposing "collected" on intermediate between batteries, posts, bikes, sending out the connectors. On the new line, the life of local barns was especially disturbing. They were surrounded by enemies from all sides and did not have rest from attacks. In the afternoon, no night.

In 1860, most of the linear troops became part of the newly formed Kuban Cossack troops, but the Cossacks and here they retained their former name of the owls, which also extended to all other villages located in the Kuban region aside from the yurts of Cossacks of Chernomors, regardless of their composition . In the troop troops, with whom Volagomy and Pyatigars merged, they stopped be called the rules.

Lenz- A small town in Austria, located in the deep Alpine Valley on the lowland left bank of the mountain river Drahn.

In the summer of 1945, Liena residents witnessed the next Cossack tragedy.

After the October coup, the Bolshevik Government of Russia began a scattering policy that turned into mass executions and the conclusion of the Cossacks in the concentration camps. All these measures had the main goal or to humble reciprocal, or destroy them physically. Part of the Cossacks recognized the objective impossibility of struggle against the Soviet power at that time and began to exercise prudent loyalty to it. And emigrants and a small part of the Cossacks remaining in Russia continued to fight. And when Hitler's troops joined Russia, this small handful immediately began to form their military units who replenished the ranks of the Nazis Nazis. Music emigrants also joined them. So in the German army, the Cossack shelves and battalions appeared, with time grew up in division and corps. They were guided by the principle: "Though with the line, only against the red", and it was their mistake.

Meanwhile, the Cossacks were not the most oppressed estate in Soviet Russia. Most of all were affected by the Bolsheviks Orthodox clergy and the believers of the Russian Orthodox Church. But despite this, when the war began, new martyrs and Russian confessors forgot personal resentment and rose to protect their homeland. Many elders prayed for the victory of the Soviet Army. For example, the Rev. Seraphim Vyritsky 1000 nights prayed on a stone, asking the Lord to give Russia a victory over Hitler's fascism. Saint Luke Crimean at that time worked in the hospital, healing from RAS Soviet fighters. Also, most of the Cossacks remaining in Russia joined a public feast of the fight against fascist invaders. Of these, cavalry parts were formed.

But for many emigrants and a small group of Cossack collaborators, such attitudes towards the Motherland and their people turned out to be unacceptable. They tied their fate with Hitler's fascism, built plans for the destruction of the Slavic population in the occupied territories ...

To be continued.

I always remembered that my mother's fighters are waiting for mother.

Help: Greenchak Valery Ivanovich was born on June 21, 1957. In 1978, he graduated from the Kiev Higher Communist Party Command Double-Gonnament School named after M.V. Frunes. He served in the Far East, in the former Czechoslovakia, Ukraine.
In October 1983, he was appointed commander of an intelligence company 285 tank regiment in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (in March 1984, the regiment was reformed in the 682th motorized rifle regiment).
On May 19, 1984, he was appointed headquarters of the 781th ORB 108th MSD.
On July 14, 1984, he received a difficult injury in battle, as a result of which she lost both legs.
On February 18, 1985, Valery Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the medal "Golden Star".

Valery Ivanovich, how did you choose the profession of the military? Would you like your parents or it was an independent choice, maybe - a childhood dream?

Military I dreamed of becoming from early childhood. Just could not decide in what kind of form, the kind of troops serve: then the sailor wanted to be, then the pilot. But fate always sent some signs. The test pilot in our family was the husband of Mamina's cousin, he died when performing official duties during the test of the aircraft. Of course, after that, my possible profession of the pilot would immediately become a psychological cargo for parents. And the fact that the service in Morflote is ordered to me, it became clear after one case. Somehow, resting on the sea, I decided to ride a boat, and I said me. Therefore, at the end of the 10th grades, it was decided to enroll in the Kiev Higher Communication Command School. I studied well (in the certificate there were only 2 fours, the rest are five), I did a lot in school: an athletic athletics, myself studied sambo, karate for books, which then managed to find, so I did not doubt and worried. Mom treated my choice skeptically. From our village (S. Herpil Gaivoronsky district of Kirovograd region) and even from the area rarely, who managed to enroll in a military school. Yes, and in Kiev! And I entered. The first time.

You sent to serve as part of a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan in 1983. Tell us, please, what does a 26-year-old guy feel when it hits a real, real war?

The information policy of the Soviet Union regarding the war in Afghanistan was displayed in the newspapers, wrote that "our military are intended to provide the peaceful life of the friendly Afghan people." In fact, from conversations of the guys who returned from Afghan, I already had an idea than in reality I would have to do.

At first, after the arrival in Kabul, the real situation was guessed by external, visible signs: at the airport there was a sanitary plane, which was wounded onto the stretchers, in some ways to have undermined military equipment.

In Kabul, at the airfield there was a so-called forwarding point, and in it from those who returned to their homeland (who was replaced, who on vacation) I already learned exactly where the fighting is going on. Here I was told that the division in which, according to the prescription, I had arrived for the subsequent passage of the service, the most "warring" of all Soviet divisions in Afghanistan.

In general, to be honest, it was difficult in morally. Imagine: The country lives a peaceful life, you are a young guy who wants to just live, work, love. And here - and one of the ten designed or those who serve in the army falls on the war, and even in someone else's country. It was necessary to stop putting the philosophical questions and simply accept the fact that you should fulfill your international debt.

Before Afghan, you served as the post of intelligence company commander in the former Czechoslovakia. In Afghanistan, you also appointed a reconnaissance commander. What was the difference in this activity in a peaceful and wartime? Did you feel at first some difficulties, lack of certain skills, experience?

Of course, the differences were. But it helped that, firstly, the terrain was very similar, I also had such tasks in the Far East.

Another thing is that the involvement of combat missions occurred somehow rapidly. After arrival in Afghanistan, I took the position of commander of the intelligence company 285 of the tank shelf 108 of the motorized rifle division. On the 6th day, we have already received a task to ensure the protection of the division commander, who also took the position at that time. He needed to learn the state of affairs in the area of \u200b\u200bresponsibility of the division. The zone of our responsibility ran at 300 km away - from the city of Jalalabad (by the way, during the presence of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, this area was considered one of the most tense) to the village of Dasha. Salang Pass was also in our zone. We overcame this distance in a week, circling every day 5 posts.

Thus, I arrived in Afghanistan on October 23, on October 28, I took a position on October 28, and on November 14, with my Rota, I was attended by a large-scale military operation (with a fighter of militants, using artillery). And here it was already necessary to remember everything we were taught in class schools. In memory, even training tables flooded. In general, in extreme conditions, everything that has once taught, and everything new, which can help you, is remembered and absorbed very quickly. For example: as a rule, the intelligence officers give an artilleryman and aircraft equipment during hostilities in order to correctly determine the coordinates of the goal of the defeat, adjust the fire of artillery and the strikes of aviation, taking into account the nature of the terrain. So on the second day of operation, I already knew how to do it on my own.

What decision as a commander in Afghanistan was the most difficult?

Probably the most difficult thing to decide who to send to this or another combat task. There is a rule that the commander does not have the right to go first during the hiking nomination of the intelligence body. And here, from how correctly the commander will select the composition of the sentiment, depends the success of the operation. It is impossible to send some newbies, but at the same time, newcomers need to be learned, therefore, in the registered department, one newcomer should be. The commander must clearly know the ability and the level of experience of each of those who are sent to the task, and in accordance with these features, put individual tasks. At first, decisions were seriously given about the challenge of fire or aviation on the settlements, from where the Mujahideen was burning. But life has proven the need for this to preserve the life of his subordinates.

How did peaceful Afghan residents relate to our contingent?

Each citizen has its own task, both in peaceful and wartime. In front of the peaceful resident during the war there is a task to survive. And because the peaceful inhabitants of Afghanistan were inclined towards the time for whom at a certain point was power. There were cases when the inhabitants of Kischekov, located near our division, trying to thank us for humanitarian assistance (it happened, we supplied it electricity, fuel), informed us about the stocks planned by the Mujaheds, mined areas and the like. As for the residents of remote kischets and mountain gorges, which were under the control of Islamic parties, then for them we were always enemies and alien.

Under what circumstances there were those events that, without exaggeration, dramatically change your life, have experienced their strength? I mean serious injury and assigning you the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

In the 20s of June 1984, an enhanced intestine under my command was published on independent intelligence-search. In two days, the ambush was destroyed by a group of Mujahideen, the commander was captured. According to his testimony, more than two battalions arrived in the mountains in the mountains, we made it in the so-called "Basic District" of the Mujahideen Group. There were captured and destroyed warehouses with ammunition, food and material values.

On July 14, 1984, we returned with a successfully performed combat task, when a well-disguised fuhaasny mine exploded under his feet. I did not lose consciousness, but in the first seconds I did not realize what happened. When I understood, I shouted so that everything remained in our places, and I carefully approached the sapper (there are cases when comrades rushed to a clawnished on mine and also explode on mines nearby). The sapper approached the sapper, then the rest, and I gave instructions that they need to do (cause a helicopter, how to transport me and so on). Each second was important, since I immediately pulled one leg immediately, and the second (amputated already in the hospital) was very badly damaged: the joints crushed the joint, ripped the vessels, and the face was completely cut away. But the guys worked quickly and harmfully and did not allow me to die of blood loss.

And then a number of hospitals, operations, rehabilitation rehabilitated. Resuscitation in Bagramsky Medsanbat, hospital in Kabul, Tashkent, Hospital. Burdenko in Moscow, where I had basic operations. From November 1984 to May 1985 - the central Research Institute of Prosthetics. Semashko, where, in fact, and put prostheses. Here I found me about the view to the Higher State Award. I remember, at that moment I came to mind: "Well, if you even die, now it will not be so offensive."

In decision on the presentation to the assignment of the title, not only my wound was played, but also the fact that for the year of my commander activity from 56 subordinates we had only three killed and 12 wounded, and it turned out to be the smallest loss indicator. Actually, this is what I consider my main merit, because any fighting without loss is impossible to hold, the task of the commander is to organize the fulfillment of the combat task so that the number of these losses to minimize. Sending guys on a combat task, I always remembered that the mother waits for each of them at home.

Did someone from your fighting comrades you for all your life? Do you often meet fighting friends, and what does it mean for you on February 15?

First of all, February 15 is, of course, the day of memory. The day when we meet the colleagues, remember the dead comrades.

We support the connection we are a lot with whom, but we all communicate after Afghans with Yura Ismagilov. He was a platoon commander, and after my injury became commander of the company. He continued his military career, at the moment he was already retired. We often call each other by phone, since two a year we meet. Periodically see with sergeants and company soldiers - Romanik Alexander, Pereshko Leonid, long Nikolai, Taran Sergey, the Sannaster, who tied my wounds.

Any step in a person's life leaves both bad and good memories. Left service in Afghanistan in your soul something good?

With confidence I can say that in Afghanistan I first saw and realized the essence of real male friendship. I understand that it sounds trite, but this is true. War - like a lactium paper to identify its real traits in the person - both noble and insignificant.

Today it is fashionable to discuss whether the war was needed in Afghanistan. What do you think about it?

A soldier on the battlefield should have one thought - to perform a combat task and at the same time try to stay alive. If we, warring officers and soldiers, at that time thought about this issue, I think many of us would have fallen in the literal sense of the word. We performed our civil and military debt, remained faithful military oath. As for today's gaze on that war, I will say so. Half of the Americans who fought in Vietnam consider that war unfair, and the other half sincerely believes that they defended the ideals of democracy. According to my personal impressions, most of the participants of the Afghan War of 1979-1989 leans towards the point of view that we fought with Islamic terrorism, then only sabilized force. I relate to a smaller part that believes that that war was not needed neither the Afghan people or the peoples of the USSR. We, on the one hand, fought with this terrorism, and, on the other hand, turned and increased it to modern scales. I also doubt the need to further expand the presence of Ukrainian servicemen and specialists in today's Afghanistan. Unlike other places, there is no peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the UN, and there is a "anti-terrorist operation under the auspices of NATO", and Ukraine is not a member of this block.

Would you like to wish you to wish you young people who choose the profession of a serviceman today?

If you choose the profession of the military, you must completely give up this case, as, in principle, and any other. You need to be able to make a decision, to answer for your actions and think not only about yourself, but also about your surroundings, about people who depend on you to one degree or another.
