Roman blinds for windows are the perfect solution for you. Do-it-yourself roman blinds - easily and simply create with the help of instructions from the masters! (50 photo ideas)

it step by step guide with a photo will help you sew classic roman blinds with your own hands.

In this master class, a method is described in detail in which not a single stitch of a stitch will be visible from the front side of the curtain. This will give the product a neat look and feel like the work of a true professional.

In addition, you do not run the risk of ruining your curtain with uneven stitching, which happens quite often.

Of course the volume self made and the time taken will be a little longer, but the result is worth it.

What you need:

  • a piece of fabric for the front side (thick material is best suited);
  • a piece of fabric for lining (it is best to use white chintz);
  • needle;
  • threads;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • pencil or special marker for fabric;
  • sewing machine;
  • (traditional wooden or ready-made mechanism);
  • frame rods and weighting agent.

Step 1. Removing the dimensions

First of all, you need to measure the window and calculate the dimensions.

You need to decide how exactly the curtain will be located: inside the window opening or outside.

Inside the opening

If you chose the first option, then the height of the curtain is measured from the upper slope of the window to the window sill.

To calculate the exact width, you need to measure the window opening in three places, as it can be uneven. The smallest value obtained must be taken as a basis and another 2 cm must be subtracted from it so that the curtain passes easily and does not rub against the slope.

Outside the opening

In the second case, to determine the height of the curtain, you need to decide at what level from the window niche the cornice will be located. Mark the top attachment point for the eaves and measure down to the windowsill. This will give you the final height.

There are two ways to get the width:

  • take as a basis the width of the window sill
  • or measure the width of the window opening and add 12 cm to it.

Choose either of these two measurements to get the width of your shade.

Step 2. We count the number and height of folds

Now that you have the height and width of the future curtain, you can do all the calculations.

Usually 5 to 9 folds are made, depending on the height of the curtain. But you can make any odd amount if needed.

Calculation example:

Curtain height: 124 cm
Top padding: 5 cm

Amount of pleat fabric: 124 - 5 = 119 cm

  • divide by 3: 119: 3 = 39.6 cm
  • divide by 5: 119: 5 = 23.8 cm
  • divide by 7: 119: 7 = 17 cm
  • divide by 9: 119: 9 = 13.2 cm

From the calculation it can be seen that 7 sections of 17 cm will look best.

For 7 sections, 3 rods are required.

Step 3. Calculate the amount of fabric for the front side

The length of the fabric for the front side = the length of the finished curtain + 5 cm for the top fold + 9 cm for the bottom fold.

Step 4. Calculate the amount of fabric for lining

The width of the cut of the lining material will be equal to the width of the finished curtain. This is due to the fact that when the curtain is ready, the width of the lining, taking into account the folds at the edges, will be slightly narrower. Therefore, you do not need to add additional centimeters.

Lining length is calculated taking into account the top and bottom twist and hem pockets.

Lining length = finished curtain length + 2cm for top hem + 2cm for bottom hem + 2.5cm for each twig pocket.

For example, if you should have 3 twigs, then you will need to add 7.5 cm.

Step 5. Prepare the lining

Cut the lining fabric to size and iron it well.

Then measure 2 cm on each side, fold them inward and iron the hem.

Measure with a ruler where you want the twig pockets to be. Step back 1.25 cm (half of 2.5 cm) from this line and draw a second. A line will need to be sewn along this line to form a pocket.

Fold the fabric along the line where you want the pocket to be. Sew the lining along the second line. This should create a pocket for a twig. Repeat this with the remaining pockets.

Step 6. Prepare the front side

Cut to size for right side and iron well. Fold at the sides and top 5 cm, and at the bottom 9 cm. Iron the folds.

Step 7. Sew on the Velcro tape

In order for the curtain to be easily removed from the eaves, use a special textile Velcro tape - Velcro.

Sew the tape on the right side of the fabric just above the fold line.

Step 8. Connect the lining to the front side

Place the lining on top of the fabric for the right side. The lining should be 2 cm away from the edges on the sides. Secure the fabric with pins. Check with a ruler to see if the pockets line up with the front.

Fold the bottom of the face fabric in half to create a pocket for the weight. Cover the formed pocket with a lining on top.

Hand sew the lining to the face fabric using a hidden seam.

Sweep the corners but leave room to insert the weight.

The lining in the corner should not be completely sewn on. This will allow the weight to be inserted and removed.

Fold upper part with Velcro and sew it also with a hidden seam.

Step 9. Sew on the rings

The rings should be spaced 10 cm from the edges of the shade and evenly across the entire width at intervals of 30 to 40 cm. If you are using ready-made kit with a cornice, then make the number of rings in accordance with it.

Measure with a ruler and mark where the rings should be attached.

Then sew the lining with a few stitches and front side in the places where the rings are to be attached, as well as at a point in the middle between them and at the edges.

Insert the twigs into the pockets.

Sew on rings according to the marks.

Step 10. Thread the cords and install the cornice

Hang the curtain rod over the window. Then use the duct tape to hang the curtain over the curtain rod.

Thread the cords through the rings and secure them at the ends with clamps, or simply tie them in knots.

For clarity of the process, we also offer you a video with instructions for sewing a Roman shade with your own hands.

More than three hundred years ago, the inhabitants of Rome, protecting their home from dust and bright sunlight, hung a rectangular piece of heavy fabric on the window, which folded, if necessary, according to the principle of an accordion - rose up, forming horizontal folds.

Since then, Roman blinds have not lost their relevance, and today they are a universal, but, at the same time, stylish and original element for decorating windows.

Since the appearance of Roman blinds, the design and principle of their operation have not changed at all, although some varieties appeared:

  1. Classic... Smooth and even fabric is evenly gathered into even folds. This is achieved by a frame made of strips, plates or tubes sewn into the fabric.
  2. Cascading the curtains are pleated even when open. These Roman shades are more elegant and pompous, therefore they are appropriate for decoration. large windows in living rooms, concert halls.
  3. Frameless Roman shades once became the prototype of classic curtains. They are sewn without guides and gather in the center and sides, forming a kind of "ears", like a lambrequin.

Why are they good in the kitchen?

Rimki, as designers like to call them, look elegant and impressive in the kitchen and in the children's room, in the living room and in the restaurant. In terms of their functionality, these curtains are similar to blinds and roller blinds(give access to light from the bottom of the window), but when unfolded they look like traditional curtains.

Such constructive solution makes the roman blinds indispensable for the kitchen if:

  • the work surface is located opposite the window. Sewn to the table top, the curtains will not crawl across the table and interfere with the work process.
  • the window is close to the fire source. The fabric of a traditional curtain can catch fire from the wind. Such a nuisance is completely excluded if a Roman blind hangs on the kitchen window.
  • The kitchen has a tiny size. After all, this kind of curtains visually expands the room, and if you also choose a good color and texture of the fabric, then the curtain will become not only a functional thing, but also an original element of decor.

Classic Roman Shade Design

The laconic design is one of the main advantages of a Roman shade. It occupies only the surface area of the opening, no draperies, frills and additional decorative elements not assumed here.

The uncomplicated form of a Roman shade allows you to make it yourself without fear of ruining a significant amount of fabric if suddenly something does not work out. Even a novice seamstress can easily cope with this task. The most important thing in sewing a Roman curtain is to choose the fabric correctly, make the right patterns and follow the instructions carefully.

Material selection

When choosing a material for sewing a Roman shade with your own hands, first you need to decide on the main task of the curtain: will it transmit light or not. If it is necessary for the curtain to protect from the hot sun, it is better to choose a thick fabric. Now materials are being sold, with black out treatment, which protect from scorching rays. In the case when there is no need to hide from the sun, you can use light, translucent, well-draped fabrics.

In order for the Roman blind to blend harmoniously into the kitchen design, it is necessary to take into account the prevailing here color range or vice versa - to play in contrast. You can sew a curtain to match the chair covers. And you can take into account the color kitchen set and focus on it, choosing material for curtains.

Due to the simplicity of the design, the main emphasis is on the fabric. Therefore, when choosing material for sewing italian curtains with your own hands, there are some nuances to remember:

  1. Striped patterns are not recommended for Roman blinds. With this color scheme, all the flaws in the cut and tailoring will be obvious. If you like geometry, then let it be abstract.
  2. Also, do not choose a fabric with a large pattern, since when the curtain is raised on the formed folds, it will become incomprehensible.
  3. Linen fabrics exhibit significant shrinkage after washing. Therefore, you need to buy fabric with a margin, and before sewing, you should soak the material in hot water and leave for a while. Thanks to this procedure, the shrinkage of the curtains during subsequent stamps will be insignificant. These manipulations are recommended to be carried out with other tissues, so that there are no surprises later.
  4. Curtains for the kitchen should be dirt-repellent, odor-resistant, cleanable and suitable for regular washings.
  5. Roman blinds are not made wide. Maximum 1.5 meters. If you want to have Italian curtains on a spacious window, you can install two or more curtain rods.

Do it yourself: the necessary materials

To make a do-it-yourself Roman curtain for the kitchen, you will need the following materials:

  • Main fabric and, if necessary, lining;
  • Tape with a sticky layer (Velcro) along the width of the curtain;
  • Finishing border;
  • 7-8 rods with a diameter of 4-5 mm. They can be wooden, plastic or metal. Their length should be about 3 cm shorter than the width of the curtain;
  • Plastic rings (2-3 pieces for each drawstring) through which the cords that raise the curtain will be threaded;
  • Nylon cord. It is necessary to make three cuts: the length of each lace should be equal to two lengths of the curtain and one more width;
  • Weighting bar;
  • Wooden plank or timber with a section of 2.5x5 cm and a length equal to the width of the canvas for hanging the curtain;
  • Curtain handle or chain;
  • Nails, screw hooks, shurpa.

Calculation of the amount of fabric

Add 2.5 cm to the width of the window on each side. Usually a Roman shade is sewn up to the windowsill, but floor-length variations are also possible. Add 12 cm to the length indicator for allowances: 2 cm will go into the upper seam, the remaining 10 cm - in a double (5 cm each) hem of the bottom.

As such, do-it-yourself patterns for making a Roman shade are not required. It is enough to draw a rectangle to the size of the kitchen window on a piece of ironed cloth and mark the folds correctly.

One of the main secrets of sewing a Roman shade with your own hands is the exact calculation of the width of the folds. For openings with a length of 145 to 220 cm, 7 folds are made.

Sewing stages

So, let's begin:

  1. On the seamy side, mark the fold lines, folds and the places where the rings for threading the cord are installed.
  2. Trim the side edges with a double hem.
  3. Use a furniture stapler or small nails to fix the Velcro on the underside of the timber, which will act as a cornice.
  4. Instead of a timber, you can use a ready-made cornice (lambrequin strip), which is sold with Velcro and fastening material.
  5. Sew the remaining adhesive tape onto the finished upper front edge of the curtain, which will allow you to remove the curtain for washing.
  6. On the lower edge of the pattern, make a fold and a drawstring, a weighting agent will be inserted into it. Used as a sinker aluminum profile, a couple of centimeters shorter than the cornice.
  7. From the inside of the curtain, attach the finishing border and insert the rods into the resulting pockets. Sew up the sides.
  8. Sew rings by hand to the cornice or timber to install the lifting mechanism. The rings for the cord are arranged symmetrically, taking into account that the outer ones should be placed at a distance of 5-10 cm from the edges of the curtains.
  9. After fixing the pattern on the cornice with Velcro, the procedure of threading the cord into the rings begins: on the lower ring you need to tie a knot, secure it with glue for strength, and stretch the cord through all seven rings in the vertical row. A similar operation is carried out with the rest of the rings.
  10. After threading all the cords, bring them to one side, pull tight. From such manipulation, the folds are evenly distributed over the entire width of the pattern. With the help of a tape, you need to temporarily fix them in this position.
  11. A beam or cornice with a curtain is attached in a designated place (ceiling, opening between frames, etc.). Now you can remove the tape that fixes the folds - the curtain will go down. Having equalized the tension of all the cords, bring them together, tie a knot behind the last ring.
  12. Pass the cords through the handle to raise the curtain and tie tightly after 45-50 cm from the first knot. Cut the ends of the cords carefully. The roman blind for the kitchen is ready.

Following the instructions above, you can make an original Roman blind with your own hands in a few hours, which will become a real decoration of the kitchen. And if you sew several color options for this universal curtain, then you can periodically update the interior, pleasantly surprising the household and guests.

Sewing Roman curtains

Sewing a Roman-style curtain is not at all difficult.

Note!

You will need:

  • Curtain fabric;
  • The tape is Velcro, its length should correspond to the width of the curtain;
  • A bar (rod) with a radius of 0.2-0.25 cm and a length of 3 cm less than the width of the curtain - 7-8 pcs.
  • Plastic rings with a radius of 0.5-0.6 cm;
  • Nylon rope - 3 pieces, of which two are twice the length of the curtain, and one is equal to the width of the curtain;
  • Planks for weighting and for fastening the canvas;
  • Self-tapping screws, nails, hooks with a screw foot.

Action plan

We measure the window opening. On each side, add 5-7 cm in width and 10-15 cm in length to allowances. We wash, dry and iron the selected material.

The correct number of folds is calculated using special tables. This is very important point in the manufacture of curtains.

We cut out the fabric according to the pattern of the Roman shade. We mark from the seamy side the fold lines, folds and the location of the rings. It is better to tuck the material twice from the sides.

Using the studs, nail the Velcro tape to the bottom of the curtain strip. Sew on the Velcro to the finished top edge of the curtain. This will allow the product to be removed. We paint the timber that plays the role of a cornice in a suitable shade.

Note!

Tuck the bottom of the curtain, creating a pocket for the weight bar. Sew a border on the seamy side as a finish. We put hooks into the holes and sew from one edge.

We mark the location of the rings and sew them on. To fix the lifting structure, we nail the rings to a wooden beam. The rings must be positioned symmetrically, from the edges of the panel you need to retreat 50-100 mm. We fasten the curtains to the timber with a Velcro tape.

We stick a rope into the rings along the entire length of the curtain. After all the ropes are inserted into the rings, we bring them out from above on one side of the curtain.

We tighten them in such a way that the arrangement of the folds is even, and we fix the folds with a tape.

We fix the beam over window opening or to the window frame. We remove the ribbons holding the curtain folded. After lowering the curtain, we equalize the tension of each rope.

We tie all the ropes into a knot at the extreme ring and pass them through the handle that lifts the curtain. After 45-50 cm from the place of the knot, we tie another knot, cut off the excess. The curtain is ready!

Note!

Rimki are very popular. Do not be lazy to make them - you will get a fashionable and stylish decoration for your windows.

Roman blinds are ideal for the kitchen as they are functional, compact and easy to use.

Following step by step instructions, it is quite possible to cope with sewing Roman curtains with your own hands, despite the fact that they seem much easier than they really are. The main thing in sewing is to take into account the most significant details.

What fabric is it worth to sew curtains in the Roman style

To make the curtain look spectacular when folded and unfolded, it is worth choosing a dense and non-creasing fabric for sewing.

For sewing Roman curtains, fabrics with any texture are quite suitable. To do this, you can choose both a heavy curtain material and a light transparent fabric (tulle). But it is worth noting that the harder and denser the fabric you choose, the better the shape of the sewn curtains will hold. In the assembled position, such curtains will be emphasized by beautiful folds, if you lower them, you will get an absolutely straight cut, the ornament and texture of which does not hide the draperies. As you understand, all the listed qualities require a special approach to the choice of fabric for sewing Roman curtains, especially since this is a great opportunity to add to the interior of your room bright colors or to emphasize its main idea. Given enough small size Roman blinds leading to minimum consumption material, you can buy by spending a little additional funds, design material... In addition, having made the decision to sew Roman blinds with your own hands, you have already saved a fairly tangible amount.

When giving preference to fabrics for sewing Roman blinds, one must take into account important detail... In order for the sunlight to enter the room, you'd better choose a translucent material. If you plan to block it with curtains, opt for a black out fabric. The seamy side of such material is impregnated with a special compound that reliably protects it from burnout. In addition, in this way you will provide protection for the furnishings of your room and, of course, wallpaper.

Main characteristics of Roman curtains made from translucent fabrics

A translucent fabric for kitchen curtains should be grease-repellent and moisture-resistant.

When choosing a fabric for sewing Roman curtains that will hang in your kitchen, you should take into account the fact that even if the kitchen is equipped with a high-quality and reliable hood, soot, vapors and odors will settle on the textiles. Curtains intended for kitchen windows must have dirt-repelling properties. It is better to choose the material for their sewing that does not absorb odors, long time keeping attractive external qualities, resistant to frequent washings and lends itself well to them. Synthetic materials have a number of all these characteristics. If you are still an adherent of natural fabrics, you should take a closer look at modern combined and blended materials, which, in addition to a small number of threads from synthetic materials contain linen, cotton or silk. Due to the low, but nevertheless, content of synthetics, blended fabrics do not require special gentle care. They retain their colors and texture for a long time, while possessing the charm of a natural material.

As a rule, sewing Roman blinds can be done in two ways: single or double. If you have chosen a light fabric with some kind of print or thin translucent, the first option is more appropriate here. In the case of colored dense materials, it is better to sew double curtains, so you will save them from rapid fading due to the action of sunlight.

Regarding the choice of fabrics for sewing Roman blinds, it should be added that the pattern, texture and, of course, color must necessarily correspond to the general idea of your interior. Plain materials are considered the most versatile; they will look great in a room made in any style.

How to determine the size of the future curtain?

If you decide to sew curtains with your own hands, keep in mind that in order for them to perfectly sit on your window, accurate and correct measurements are necessary. In addition, it is very important to consider the consumption of fabric, which in most cases depends on how the curtain is attached.

What methods can be used when attaching Roman blinds:

  1. Mount in window opening when the curtain is close to the glass. This method is most appropriate in the presence of a large window sill, since even a lowered curtain will not close access to it. In this case, as you can imagine, the size of the curtains must absolutely correspond to the size of the window opening.
  2. Curtain fastening method of this type above the window is ideal if your window has a window or an opening sash. Keep in mind that in this case, the curtain should be wider and longer by about 5-10 cm than the window opening itself.

Sewing Roman curtains with your own hands: a detailed description of the process

Roman shades are either one-piece or several pieces of fabric. In the case of several canvases, each curtain must be attached to a separate cornice. If this is your first time sewing Roman shades with your own hands, you should opt for a solid canvas, since sewing in this way is still easier.

Materials and tools that will be required for sewing Roman blinds:

Step-by-step instruction.

Where to begin? The first step is to measure the dimensions of the window opening. To them it is necessary to add about 5-7 cm (for side seams) and about 10-15 cm (for upper and lower allowances). To prevent your fabric from “shrinking”, soak it for a while in medium temperature water before you start cutting it. After pressing and drying, iron thoroughly. The size and number of folds collected on Roman blinds depends on the parameters of the window. In order not to be mistaken with the most optimal distance from one fold to another, use the following table: the number of folds and their sizes for Roman blinds (Fig. 3).

From the inside out, outline the lines where the future folds are supposed to be. Next, mark the rings in which you will later need to insert the cord.

In order for the drapery of the finished curtain to look aesthetically pleasing, the distance between the folds must be equal.

Fold the edges of the fabric in half, then process. By using furniture stapler nail the sticky part of the tape to the wooden plank on the underside. Process the upper part of the future curtain, and then sew the second piece of tape to it. It is advisable to paint the plank that will replace the cornice with a suitable shade of paint. As you can imagine, this must be done before you start sewing Roman blinds.

The lower part of the future curtain should be tucked up, thus creating a drawstring width that can accommodate the weighting bar. From the inside of the curtain, it is necessary to attach a finishing border, and insert the rods into the resulting pockets. The holes must be repaired. Sew the edge of the drawstring only on one side. This way, you can freely remove the rods before each wash. Make sure that the edges of the twigs do not catch on the fabric.

Important details of Roman blinds

Technology for attaching rings and inserts to a Roman shade.

Having coped with the placement of the rings, you need to sew them on, try to be careful, as a rule, they are sewn by hand. You need nails to attach them to a wooden plank. The rings into which the cord is inserted should be positioned so that they are symmetrical in relation to the middle of the Roman shade. Edge rings should be placed 10 cm from the edge of the material.

Using Velcro, secure the curtain to the prepared strip. The lace fastener must be secured over window frame... Having locked the curtain in this way, wrap the lace around it.

Start threading the cord from the bottom ring. Tie a knot there, which will give your curtains strength. For reliability, you can saturate it with glue. After passing the cords through each of the rings sewn into the curtain in each row, check that they are brought out on one side at the top of the curtain. Tighten all the laces tighter, thus distributing all the folds and aligning them with the width of the Roman shade. You can fix the folds with ribbons.

Finally, secure the wooden plank in the way that best suits your window opening. Remove the ribbons holding the folds. With the shade down, line up all the cords. Gather them together, tie in one knot behind the last ring. Next, pass the cords through the handle to raise the curtain and tie a second knot at a distance of approximately 50 cm. Cut off the excess cords. That's all, the Roman shades are ready.

Roman shades, like all types of curtains, are designed to protect the home from dust, dirt and prying eyes. They fit perfectly into the living room, bedroom or even kitchen. Simplicity is considered their main advantage. The curtain takes up only the space of the window opening. There are simply no folds, draperies and other elements. Its design is simple, so even a beginner can handle sewing. It is important to choose the right fabric, prepare patterns and follow the step-by-step instructions from the photo. And in addition to this, watch the video master class. Do-it-yourself curtains will undoubtedly delight you and be liked by those around you.

Curtain design

What is a Roman blind? This is a rectangular fabric cloth, divided horizontally with drawstrings. Rigid rods are inserted into them, which help to form even folds on the curtain. Rings are sewn to the edge of the fold, through which ribbons or ropes are inserted to lift the fabric.

A plastic strip is attached at the bottom of the curtain, which plays the role of a weighting agent. It fits into the folded edge or locks into place.

On the side, the Roman blind is free or attached to the guides. It is very convenient to use it if there are dormers in the kitchen.

Material selection

Any dense fabric is suitable for Roman blinds, since an airy lightweight canvas will not be able to keep the desired shape. However, you can sew curtains from soft tissue, it all depends on what you want to get in the end result. Unlike French curtains, the Romans won't need a lot of material.

Advice. Buy high-quality fabric, do not spare money. Ready-made curtains from good stuff can last a very long time.

In addition to fabric, you will need:

  • Wooden bars, one of which should be the same length as the future curtain, and the second should correspond to the dimensions in width.
  • Rail. Its length should be slightly shorter than the curtains.
  • Velcro tape and tape along the width of the curtain.

  • Plastic or metal rings.
  • Nylon cord.
  • Fastener for the cord.
  • Scissors.
  • Flexible tailor's tape measure.

Calculation of the amount of fabric

In order to correctly calculate the need for material for sewing Roman blinds, it is necessary to add 2-3 cm on each side to the width of the window. Their standard length- to the windowsill, although variations are possible below the windowsill or to the floor itself. To the length of the Roman blind you need to add 12 cm for allowances: 2 - for a seam on top and a double hem, 5 cm from the bottom.

Attention! The curtain should not extend beyond the window opening. Remember that you need to sew a separate curtain for each window.

No special pattern required. You just need to draw a rectangle on the pre-ironed canvas, which will correspond to the parameters of the window, and also correctly mark the folds. For window openings (from 1.45 to 2.20 m), 7 folds are made.

Sewing steps: step by step instructions

By following the step-by-step instructions with the photo, you can decorate the kitchen window with beautiful curtains in just a few hours.

  • From the inside of the fabric, mark the fold lines, folds and points where you decided to install the rings for the cord.
  • Fold the edges to the side twice.

  • Use a special stapler to attach the adhesive tape to the underside of the timber, which will act as a curtain rod.

  • Replace wooden beams you can use a lambrequin strip, which is easy to find in specialized stores.
  • The top edge should also be finished and the remainder of the adhesive tape should be sewn onto it. This will make it possible to remove the curtains for washing.
  • Make a fold and drawstring from below, into which the weighting agent will be inserted later.

Advice. Use an aluminum profile that is slightly shorter than the cornice as a weighting agent.

  • Sew on the seamy side, insert the rods and sew on the sides.

  • Sew rings to the cornice to install the lifting mechanism. The pitch between the rings should be about 5-10 cm. This work is usually done by hand.
  • After the fabric is fixed with Velcro, thread the cord through the rings. Tie a knot on the bottom ring and secure with glue. Pull the lace through all rings. Do the same with the remaining rings.
  • Finally, pull all the cords to one side and tighten well. Use the tape to secure them in position.
  • Attach the beam to necessary place... For example, in a window opening. Remove the retaining fold. After that, the curtain will drop.

  • Align the tension on the laces and tie them behind the last ring.
  • Pass the cords through the shade lifting handle and tie them 0.5 m from the original knot.
  • The roman blind for the kitchen is ready.

Roman blinds in the kitchen: pros and cons

Roman blinds are very similar in design to roller blinds, but unlike the latter, they are not assembled from above. They fall neatly in folds. Before deciding to decorate the window with such curtains, weigh the pros and cons.

Advantages:

  1. Easy to use and care for.
  2. Possibility of using reflective fabrics or fabrics with special impregnations.
  3. Fixation of the curtain at any level.
  4. Roman shades fit in with most styles.

Disadvantages:

  1. There is no way to adjust the lighting level in the room. Unlike blinds, roman blinds do not let light through.
  2. The need for careful care of curtains (without the use of wet cleaning).
