The best beaches in Tuscany. Vacation on Tuscany beaches - best coves, beaches and recreation areas

Tuscany, one of the regions of Italy, is best known for its beaches. The coastline is 320 km long and washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here they will find appropriate place both lovers of luxury rest, and those who want to save money. And if you are tired of wallowing in the sun, then you should travel and visit the various sights of Pisa, Florence, Siena.

How to get to Tuscany

You can easily fly to Rome or Milan by plane. There are airports in Florence (Amerigo Vespucci) and Pisa (Galileo Galilei). Then you can buy a train or bus ticket. Another option is to rent a car.

Italy has a very well developed network railways, they connect all the largest cities with each other. You can use high-speed trains company EuroStar Italia, and if time is not running out and you want to save a little, then you should give preference to Intercity.

However, those who choose to travel by car will get real pleasure. There are no bad roads in Italy, even the most distant from the central highway has good coverage... And the surrounding landscape will create the necessary mood and allow you to get to know the country better.

The best beaches

If the purpose of the trip is primarily the seaside, then the beaches of Tuscany are able to offer a vacation that will satisfy even the most discerning tourist. It is best to plan your trip between May and September, when the sea water will be warm enough.

Viareggio can be called one of the most expensive and fashionable resorts in Tuscany. The beach with excellent soft sand stretches for 12 km. The pine forests surrounding this area provide clean and healthy air. And the Italians' hosts made sure that guests visiting the city did not get bored: after swimming on the beach, you can play golf, fly a hang glider or go sailing. Viareggio has many boutiques located close to the beach and offering the latest trends from Italian designers, so shoppers will be delighted. Night life also very busy - night bars, discos, clubs ...

Punta Ala is a very popular and prestigious place, famous for its yacht club. Here you can meet celebrities, businessmen, politicians, who often swim to the local port in their luxurious beauties. For those who do not have their own yacht, there is an opportunity to rent it.

Popular are such beaches as Castiglione della Pescaya, which won a bronze award as the best Italian seaside resort, Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Tirrenia, Marina di Carrara, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Petrosanta, Forte dei Marmi. The purest water, sandy shore, surrounding coniferous trees give a real pleasure. And for amateurs active rest offers such entertainment as diving, water skiing, etc.

The deserted beaches of Tuscany are located in the Maremma region in a conservation area. Most these places are closed to tourists, especially during the season. Only a few days a week, vacationers can get to the territory of the regional park.

sights

Apart from the beaches, there are many places in Tuscany that are worth visiting. Acquaintance with the sights of Tuscany should begin with the capital of the region of Florence. The city itself, founded by Julius Caesar 2000 years ago, is well preserved and is a museum city, almost every building of which has historical value. The huge cathedral in Siena, the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, the incredible churches of the city of Lucca, the white-stone Arezzo - this is not a complete list of those places that will be of interest to any tourist.

Evpatoria- first of all, a children's resort, and then everything else. Fans of driving rest will inevitably get bored - fans of measured spa days will plunge into nirvana.

The vacation will fly by unnoticed: without much rain and with the sun at full power. But returning to the gray everyday life will require serious efforts ...

Feodosia... they say you need to feel it in order to love. One way or another, but she is the first in Crimea to meet an autotourist. Sometimes and unfriendly, ancient Kafa is a lady with character. And the only resort in the world that is so tired of the sand that it brings pebbles to the beaches.

The Tavrida track will relieve the city in 2019 - forget everything that was said about it before!

Koktebel not fully determined: he is just "Country" or "Country of Cognacs". Perhaps because they love and know how to make grape brandy here. It has always been that way.

The air of wonderful taste, life-giving climate, transparent perspectives - in the literal sense! Rest here is inexpensive, but it's difficult to get there ...

Zander- delicious fish if cooked correctly. And simply incomparable, if the maestro of the culinary department takes over the business.

The Crimean namesake of the waterfowl "Ichthyander" has similar features: good for the majority and exceptional for a few. Able to look a little further than the stereotyped Crimea guidebooks offer

Sea, beaches and resort life in Tuscany

One of the most frequently asked questions which I answer in recent times- "help to decide on the choice of a resort in Tuscany, so that the sea is clean, the beaches are sandy and free, and in the evenings it is not boring ..." with small variations on the theme of rest with children or in a youth company - finally took shape in a single article which I hope will be useful to many.

Another reason for writing it, oddly enough it may seem, is the absolute impossibility of giving an unambiguous answer to this question in all the parameters of "search" beach holiday... The fact is that the coast of Tuscany is very different, each with its own characteristics and its own "BUT", which I tried to state more or less clearly.

Versilia

The most famous resorts on the northern coast of Tuscany or Versilia (Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi) have long established themselves as prestigious places for summer vacation in Italy thanks to a well-developed infrastructure with a wide selection of hotels for every taste, expensive or traditional restaurants, cafes, evening cocktail bars. It is pleasant to walk here in the evenings - all the suburbs of Viareggio are connected by one wide promenade "Passeggio", here are the best discos in Tuscany, shops and boutiques of all famous brands. From here it is quite easy to move on excursions to the cities of Tuscany.

And now about the main thing, about the sea. The sandy beaches of the Apuan Riviera are unusually wide, the sandy bottom is shallow (which is not very pleasant for lovers of long swims, but just pleases parents with children). The sea water is quite clean (as far as it is generally applicable to any sandy bottom), as evidenced by the "Blue flags of quality", awarded in Italy only to environmentally friendly resorts. BUT! here all the beaches are urban (especially in Viareggio) and are paid, often with 15-20 rows of dense umbrellas. There are practically no hotels with their own beaches, there are no free beaches within walking distance, therefore, among all other expenses for recreation, you need to take into account additional payment. beach places... Thanks to charter flights to Pisa, the main offers of our tour operators are here, so there are always a lot of Russian tourists in Versilia.

Resorts of southern Tuscany (coast of Livorno, Grosseto and Pisa)

Unlike Versilia, these places are more democratic and less pretentious! Small resort towns, but rather holiday villages, have a developed infrastructure, designed mainly for Italian family tourism. The sea is very clean, with wide sandy beaches and convenient entrance for kids. Almost all hotels (3 * and 4 *) and even apart-hotels in this part of the Tuscan coast have their own beaches and swimming pools, which alternate with free ("wild") beaches available to everyone.

Riviera Etruscans especially convenient for day trips and excursions to all the cities of Tuscany, even if you do not plan to rent a car. NO! - in the evenings there is not as much entertainment as in Versilia. Fans of evening promenades overlooking the sea will not be able to "walk along the embankment", as there are no usual embankments in these towns. The whole resort life is concentrated on one main street (500 meters) with pizzerias, ice cream parlors and small shops of the most essential. Recently, many have chosen these places precisely because of the calm and relaxed rest, and most importantly, because of the special, favorable microclimate of pine parks near the sea!

A few words about the towns themselves. Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Marina di Bibbona, Cecina Mare, Tirrenia- very quiet places where mainly Italian families with children relax (there are several playgrounds, amusement parks and water parks). Relatively close for small excursions to Pisa, Volterra, Lucca, for wine tastings on farms or in little-known medieval towns.

San Vincenzo at the moment - the most popular resort coast of Livorno. It also has its own small "promenade" (imagine one main street with a dozen different boutiques, cafes and restaurants, quite nice and calm, with resort houses of 2-3 floors), where all vacationers pour out in the evenings in summer. In July and August, there are quite a few activities for tourists. The newest yacht port "Marina San Vincenzo" is almost ready. Such marinas on the coast of Tuscany are traditionally favorite places for evening walks and entertainment: an aperitif at sunset, dinner overlooking the yachts, evening cocktails with a DJ set.

Personally, I like the most on the coast of Tuscany Castiglioncello- a small town near Livorno, was once the famous "Dolce Vita" resort of the 60s. True, here too, all the entertainment of vacationers is concentrated on one main square, or in a nearby yacht port. But Castiglioncello does not leave a feeling of provincialism, perhaps because of the Italians themselves, who spend their holidays here or come for the weekend. The town still remains such a "fashionable place", where on Saturdays, colorful and quite cute "bikers" from all over Italy invariably gather, and performances and concerts are held in the summer theater at the Castle. As a resort, it is ideal for couples or small youth groups in a typically Italian setting. The main disadvantage of Castiglioncello is the beaches, of which there are not so many. Tiny beaches in coves, with a few exceptions paid with loose sand, rocky with a pebble bottom, which especially attracts lovers pure water and snorkeling.

Maremma or Coast of Grosseto

Prestigious resorts on the southern coast of Tuscany are Punta Ala and Castiglione della Pescaya. In Punta Ala, however, apart from a luxurious yacht port with expensive yachts and expensive villas hidden in the green of pine parks, there is also nothing. Main street with two or three boutiques along the pier with yachts 100 m! In contrast, Castiglione della Pescaia has a very pretty historic center-castle, the port promenade and the main street with restaurants, bars and boutiques always lively in the evenings. In these places, perhaps, the cleanest sea in Tuscany with beaches of fine light sand. But Marina di Grosseto, which appeared quite recently in the proposals of our TO, may seem even more "democratic" than the already mentioned towns of Livorno (by the way, it is positioned as an inexpensive vacation by the sea in Tuscany).

The main "BUT" of these places is, oddly enough, the infrastructure. These resorts cannot boast of an abundance of hotels, there are very few good 3 * or 4 * hotels (with the exception of three 5 * hotels in Punta Ale). In addition, it is quite difficult to get out of here on your own on excursions to the cities of Tuscany (although, recently, thanks to direct charters in Grosseto, this problem has been quite successfully solved by Russian TOs, offering group excursions in hotels). Punta Ala remains on the sidelines, little accessible in every sense, to a wide range of tourists (it is almost impossible to spend a vacation here without a car) and steadfastly holding the bar of the "coolest" resort in Tuscany, which provides an excellent opportunity to isolate yourself from the outside world during your vacation!

So, only you can choose what exactly you prefer for your beach holiday and decide for yourself the question of choosing a resort :)!

Instead of an afterword:
Choosing your holiday on the sea in Tuscany - do not forget that there is still Elba island - "democratic Sardinia", the wonderful Argentario peninsula is a favorite vacation spot for the Roman establishment, and for those who like to relax in close contact with nature, who are ready to sacrifice many benefits of civilization for this, the island of Giglio with its crystal-clear sea.

One of the most frequent questions that I have to answer from year to year when I start planning my vacations. summer season: "help determine the choice of a resort in Tuscany, so that the sea is clean and deep, the beaches are sandy and free, but in the evenings it is not boring " with small variations on the theme of families with children, married couple in search of peace and comfort, or, conversely, in a youth company, has taken shape in a single article, which, I hope, will be useful to you when preparing for a summer vacation at sea in Italy.

VERSION - traditional name north coast of Tuscany. The most famous resorts are Viareggio with its suburbs Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi have long established themselves as prestigious destinations for summer vacations in Italy thanks to their well-developed infrastructure with a wide selection of hotels for all tastes, expensive or traditional restaurants, cafes and evening cocktail bars. It is pleasant to walk here in the evenings - all the suburbs are connected by the Passeggata promenade, here are the best discos in Tuscany, shops and boutiques of all famous brands. From here it is easy to move on excursions to the cities of Tuscany (about 100 km to Florence) or to Liguria with its wonderful Port of Venus and the Cinque Terre. The most convenient airport of arrival is Pisa, but you can also consider a / p Florence, Bologna with a convenient transfer.

Sandy beaches Versilia unusually wide, sandy bottom - shallow, which simply pleases parents with small children. The water in the sea is clean enough, as far as it is generally applicable to any sandy bottom; the cleanliness of the sea is evidenced by the "Blue Flags of Quality", awarded in Italy only to environmentally friendly resorts that have passed a series of control checks. For many, the "minus" of Versilia will be city beaches, all without exception are paid, often with 15-20 rows of dense umbrellas. There are practically no hotels with their own beaches, there are no free beaches on the outskirts of the resorts, therefore, among all other expenses for recreation, you need to take into account the additional payment for beach places equipped in all parameters of comfort.

MAREMMA or southern Tuscany. Coast of Livorno, Pisa or Grosseto unlike Versilia, they are more democratic and have the status of family resorts. Small resort towns of the coast, more like holiday villages, are located among a vast strip of reserved pine parks and awarded with "Blue Quality flags"... The resorts themselves with developed infrastructure are more specific Italian budget tourism. The purest sea of the Maremma with its endless sandy beaches leaves its prestigious northern neighbor - Versilia far away. Almost all hotels and aparthotels on the southern coast of Tuscany have own equipped beaches, already included in the price. Private beaches alternate with free "wild" areas available to everyone, even for tourists without a car.

Riviera Etruscan - one of the names coast of the province of Livorno- attracts numerous European tourists with an ideal opportunity to combine travel in Tuscany with a beach holiday... Livorno coastline is especially convenient for day trips in all cities of Tuscany even if you don't plan on renting a car. The disadvantage of these places: in the evenings there is not so much entertainment as in Versilia. Fans of evening promenades overlooking the sea will not be able to "walk along the embankment", since there are no embankments in these towns at all. The whole resort life is concentrated on the main street with pizzerias, cafes and small shops of the most essential. Recently, many have chosen these places for a quiet, family vacation, and most importantly, because of the special, favorable microclimate of pine parks near the sea.

Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Marina di Bibbona, Cecina Mare - the country towns of the Etruscan Riviera, where Italian families with children mainly rest: for children's entertainment there is an amusement park, playgrounds with inflatable trampolines, and a large water park. The resorts are located relatively close to a / p Pisa (60 km) and are convenient for short excursions to Pisa, Volterra, Lucca, for wine tastings and gastronomic trips to agricultural farms or to little-known medieval towns.

SAN VINCENZO - by far the most popular resort on the Livorno coast. There is also a small "promenade" here, one main street with a dozen different boutiques, cafes and restaurants, where all vacationers walk in the summer evenings. In July and August, there are many events for tourists - "White Nights", open-air concerts, fairs and markets. The newest yacht port "Marina San Vincenzo" - traditionally for such marinas, is a favorite place for evening walks and entertainment for Italians: a glass of wine at sunset, dinner overlooking the yachts, DJ sets and music until late in the company of friends.

CASTILLONCELLO- one of the prettiest towns on the Tuscan coast . This small and self-sufficient resort near Livorno was not so long ago famous place Italian "Dolce Vita". Even if now the entertainment of vacationers is concentrated on one main square, or in the nearby marina "Cala dei Medici", Castiglioncello does not leave a feeling of provincialism, perhaps because of the Italians who prefer to spend their holidays here or come for the weekend. The town is still a "fashionable place" where colorful "bikers" from all over Tuscany invariably gather on Saturdays, and fairs and concerts are held in the summer theater in Castello Park. Since May, in the evenings it is always lively here, there are good restaurants by the sea and youth disco bars, but vacationers especially love to walk along the sea or in the pine park, where there is also a small playground. The main disadvantage of Castiglioncello is the beaches, of which there are not many. Narrow beaches in coves (with a few exceptions of paid equipped beach complexes with bulk sand) are rocky with a pebble bottom, which is especially attractive lovers of clear water and snorkeling.

PUNTA ALA and CASTILLONE DELLA PESCAYA- the most prestigious resorts of Maremma Grosseto. Unfortunately for tourists expecting the same exclusive resort life, Punta ala with its small yacht port for luxury yachts, expensive villas hidden from the eyes of strangers in the green of pine parks and an exclusive golf course, it offers nothing. The main street with two or three expensive boutiques along the pier 100 m away is suitable only for gatherings over a cup of coffee or dinner overlooking the yachts. Unlike Punta Ala in Castiglione della Pescaia a pretty historic center with a real medieval borgo and a castle, the harbor promenade and the main street with restaurants, bars and boutiques always lively in the afternoon and evening. In these places there is the cleanest sea in Tuscany with beaches of fine light sand framed by relict Mediterranean pines.

The "minus" of these places, oddly enough, is the infrastructure. These resorts cannot boast of a variety of hotels: good hotels are rare, with the exception of three5 * hotel in Punta Ale... In addition, it is quite difficult to get out of here on your own on excursions to the cities of Tuscany. Punta Ala steadfastly maintains the status of the present VIP resort of Tuscany which gives a great opportunity isolate from the outside world during rest, throw away all conventions and enjoy the comfort and complete relaxation of the Italian spa life. Only the most beautiful rivals this resort in southern Tuscany Argentario peninsula- a favorite resting place of the Roman establishment. Convenient airport of arrival - Rome (about 200 km), as well as Pisa (180 km).

For budget vacation in Maremma or families with children, you can safely choose Follonica or Marina di Grosseto, and Tirrenia near Pisa, which are positioned as inexpensive seaside vacation in Tuscany... Follonica (GR) is an ideal resort for those who are cramped in small summer cottages and who definitely need a big city with a railway station, a promenade, shops and more usual apartments for accommodation.

To choose a place for a beach holiday, do not forget about the islands of Tuscany- "Tuscan Sardinia" - Elba with a huge offer for the hotel base and a lot of options for different types recreation or unique Del Giglio Island with very modest prices and crystal-clear sea - perfect place for those who like to relax in close contact with nature, who are ready to sacrifice many benefits of civilization for this.
