There are many diets that help get rid of extra pounds, remove centimeters at the waist or hips. However, not all of them will provide health benefits. Traditional healers recommend losing weight with the help of natural medicinal plants. Learn all about what herbs to drink for weight loss, how to infuse a drink at home or make an herbal tea.

What herbs help you lose weight

In the distant past, it was difficult to find a house in Russia in which various herbs would not hang at the entrance: St. John's wort, chamomile, thyme, coltsfoot. Our ancestors used them as a home first aid kit. Today, the popularity of herbs and traditional medicine has declined, but in vain, because a properly compiled collection will help get rid of many diseases.

Each plant in nature has its own purpose: some relieve the common cold well, others treat sciatica. Herbal weight loss will be effective if you can correctly arrange the plants among themselves. To achieve a result, it is important to be able to distinguish between the principles of the influence of herbs on the body, and they are fat-burning, diuretic or laxative, improve metabolic processes or reduce appetite.

Burning fat

The first thing that everyone who wants to lose a few extra kilos should focus on is cleansing the body. Almost all herbs for weight loss that burn fat are aimed at this effect. Accumulating in the body, they begin to stimulate active blood circulation, help to remove toxins and improve lipid metabolism. Ask folk experts what herbs you can drink for weight loss and the answer will be:

  • parsley with dill;
  • fennel;
  • anise;
  • caraway;
  • yarrow;
  • mess;
  • green tea.

Diuretic

It should be noted right away that neither herbal diuretics nor pharmacy ones will help you burn a layer of adipose tissue. When taking herbal diuretics, fluid leaves the body, which will immediately return if you drink an extra glass of water. However, diuretic herbs for weight loss can also be helpful. For example, if a full person has a tendency to puffiness. Diuretic herbs include:

  • goose cinquefoil;
  • field horsetail;
  • dandelions;
  • immortelle;
  • Tibetan barberry - goji berries;
  • corn silk;
  • common tansy;
  • lingonberry leaves.

Laxatives

Excessive accumulation of food debris in the intestines can lead to fermentation in the intestines, gas, bloating and general intoxication. Herbs for digestion and cleansing the body will save you from such problems. They normalize the digestive tract, gently cleanse the intestines, remove toxins and other decay products. What herb to drink for weight loss with a laxative effect? Suitable plants:

  • buckthorn bark;
  • anise;
  • hellebore Caucasian;
  • licorice;
  • joster berries.

Improve metabolism and promote weight loss

Slow metabolism is a common problem for overweight people. Herbs that speed up the metabolism in the body will help increase the consumption of energy consumed. However, drinking tinctures from such plants should be done with caution: they can increase appetite. If you are not afraid of such side effects, then try making herbal teas for weight loss:

  • ginseng;
  • guarana;
  • coltsfoot;
  • birch buds and leaves;
  • red pepper;
  • ginger;
  • nettles;
  • celery.

To reduce appetite

The main rule of most diets is the need to reduce not only the calorie content, but also the amount of food consumed per day. Not many people who lose weight easily have such a barrier. The following herbs for appetite suppression and weight loss will help muffle the feeling of growing hunger and be content with a small portion of healthy food:

  • fucus;
  • flax-seed;
  • spirulina;
  • marshmallow root;
  • medicinal angelica;
  • bran;
  • sage.

how to lose weight on herbs

Fat burning with the help of herbs must be combined with dietary nutrition and an active lifestyle, but this will not be enough for effectiveness. When losing weight on medicinal herbs, it is extremely important to consider a few rules:

  • Infusions, teas, decoctions for weight loss, etc. should not be taken when you want. As with any other diet, a systematic approach is needed here. Otherwise, these weight loss methods can cause indigestion, liver or kidney problems, bile stasis, an allergic reaction, or other problems.
  • Any herbal slimming drinks should not be drunk for too long. The optimal course of a plant-based diet is one and a half to two months. Then the body will need a break to recover.
  • Do not believe the assurances of folk healers that it is possible to quickly lose weight on herbs 25 kg per month. Extra centimeters and kilograms will go away slowly, about 600-900 grams per week. But the result will be much more stable than with a simple diet.
  • Diuretic plants not only remove harmful substances from the body, relieve fluid stagnation, but they also flush out calcium. To protect your bones, teeth, hair, nails, you need to take special vitamin supplements in parallel with such drinks when losing weight.

In addition, not everyone can engage in phytotherapy. Weight loss on herbs is strictly contraindicated for people with abnormal liver function or kidney pathologies, with disorders in the gastrointestinal tract or allergies. Many herbal teas should not be drunk after conception or while breastfeeding. In order not to guess what herbs to drink to lose weight in the abdomen or other parts of the body, you need to consult a doctor or an experienced herbalist before starting the intake. The specialist will definitely tell you about all the details, contraindications, but also determine the optimal dosage.

How to take herbs for weight loss

From medicinal herbs you can prepare wonderful decoctions, make tinctures, brew tea. Sometimes herbal preparations for weight loss are crushed in a mortar and used as a flavor enhancer for snacks or savory pastries. In order to correctly calculate the dosage, you should clearly follow the instructions on the packaging of the phytocollection for weight loss or in the folk recipe. It is worth remembering that diuretic plants and fat burning supplements should be taken before bedtime. Herbs to speed up metabolism - before training, and diuretics and laxatives for weight loss - on weekends or after work.

Special decoctions for weight loss help to normalize the digestive system, reduce appetite and cleanse the intestines of toxins. It is necessary to drink them before each meal, first half a glass, then bringing the dosage to 200 ml. Try making decoctions according to the following two recipes:

  1. Take equal parts of strawberry leaves, mint, birch leaves, fennel, nettle and rosehip. Mix all the herbs well and measure exactly 1 tbsp. l. Pour the composition with two hundred milliliters of hot water and place on top of a pot of boiling water. Boil the slimming drink for a few minutes, cover with a plate or lid. Let the drink for weight loss brew for several hours.

  2. Connect evenly nettle leaves, common yarrow and nettle. Pour boiling water over the dry mixture and let the herbs steep for a few minutes. Then cool the infusion slightly, and take 1/3 cup per day.
  3. Steep sage, medicinal angelica and flax seeds for 20 minutes. Strain the cooled broth for weight loss through a sieve with small holes and take each time before meals.

drainage tea

This drink during weight loss will relieve puffiness and help remove unnecessary fluid from the body. However, unlike diuretics from a pharmacy, they act much softer and more delicately, and you can prepare drainage herbal teas for weight loss in your own kitchen, spending mere pennies on compiling the collection. See for yourself by learning a few simple recipes:

  • Grate fresh ginger root. Mix it with half a garlic clove, 10 grams of liquid honey and 30 milliliters of lemon juice. Pour the resulting set of ingredients with boiling water and drink throughout the day.
  • Let two tablespoons of calendula brew in 400 ml of boiling water for about 10-15 minutes. Pass the slimming drink through a fine mesh sieve and take ½ of a glass one hour before meals.
  • Take 6-8 currant leaves, birch leaves or mother and stepmother inflorescences. Pour the composition of herbs for weight loss with boiling water and drink herbal tea throughout the day.

What are the most effective herbs for weight loss?

Many experts for weight loss recommend using a multi-component pharmacy collection of herbs for weight loss. This approach allows you to get several effects at once: cleanse the intestines of toxins, burn subcutaneous fat, get rid of fluids, speed up metabolism, and reduce food intake. However, not everyone can follow this approach when losing weight. In this case, phytotherapists suggest opting for just one most effective herb.

senna

Senna is considered one of the most common laxative herbs in Russia. However, you need to drink it with special care, because weed for weight loss has such unpleasant side effects as diarrhea and colic. In addition, Altai grass senna with regular use is addictive. Grass hellebore for weight loss is prepared according to this principle:

  2. Then the container is wrapped with any dense cloth, insisted for at least 2 hours.

mistletoe

In folk medicine, mistletoe is used as a hemostatic plant, very often used to treat abrasions, wounds or burns. However, it will be very useful for those who want to quickly say goodbye to kilograms. White mistletoe grass for weight loss is used in the form of tincture with the addition of linden, which must be drunk according to a certain scheme:

  1. On the first day, prepare a drink consisting of 4 tbsp. l. linden leaves, steamed in a liter of boiling water. Before drinking, linden grass must be insisted for 2 hours.

Stevia herb for weight loss is just a storehouse of useful properties. How to take medicinal herbs?
During treatment with medicinal plants, there are several general rules for taking:
Medicinal herbal preparations / tinctures, infusions, decoctions / are taken in a row from 20 to 30 days. Then a break is made in taking this herb for 10 days. In rare cases, and for certain medicinal herbs, long-term use is allowed.
Significantly exceeding these terms of taking medicinal herbs can lead to the development of side effects and cause undesirable results.
During the treatment period, it is necessary to gradually change the used medicinal herbs in order to prevent the decrease in the effect of the therapeutic effect of herbs and reduce the harm from long-term treatment.
Be sure to take medicinal herbs in the recommended doses and recommended forms. We must not forget that these are also medicines and uncontrolled intake will bring harm, not benefit. How to prepare medicinal tincture, infusion and decoction? At home, the following types of so-called herbal preparations are prepared from medicinal herbs:
Infusion - pour medicinal raw materials with cold water - infuse for several hours, or with boiling water - infuse for about 30-60 minutes. In the latter case, they wait until the raw material settles to the bottom and the water cools down. Then filter and use within one day.
Tincture - pour medicinal raw materials with alcohol or vodka. Insist for several weeks, then filter and take. Can be used within one year.
A decoction is a medicinal raw material filled with water, boiled over a fire or heated in a water bath. After cooling, filter and use within a day. It is necessary to cook them only in glass or enameled dishes. At the same time, the active substances of plants are preserved. You can also pour medicinal raw materials with boiling water and insist in a thermos. It turns out something like a long water bath. This method increases the concentration of active substances contained in the prepared preparation.
As you could see, when preparing any form of herbal medicine, it is necessary to strain it, i.e. separate the resulting liquid from the parts of the used plant.
The best time to take most homemade herbal remedies is 15-20 minutes before a meal or 1.5-2 hours after a meal.

Doses and forms for the use of various herbs are described in many herbal reference books. I really like the book of medicinal herbs by academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR A.M. Grodzinsky "Medicinal Plants", 1992, which contains a description and dosage of various herbs in the European region.

Collection of soothing herbs.
The main property of all the herbs listed above is soothing. If you mix many herbs in one composition and make a steep collection of medicinal herbs, this does not mean that the therapeutic effect will also increase and the therapeutic effect will be stronger and faster. Sometimes herbs are incompatible with each other and can cause a decrease in effect. I do not recommend using a multi-plant herbal collection. If you use one herb in a treatment, you can determine whether it suits you or not. And if you take a lot of herbs at once, then it will be very problematic to determine what helps and what is harmful for you.
There is a collection, which includes almost all the plants from the proposed list. Whether this is a good collection or not, decide for yourself.
The recipe for a soothing herbal collection is as follows:
- blood-red hawthorn flowers, hop cones, lemon balm, peppermint, motherwort, thyme, oregano - these are 1.5 parts each;
- roots and rhizomes of valerian officinalis, St. John's wort, mistletoe, yarrow, sweet clover, calendula, wormwood, chamomile officinalis, peony root, dill seeds - these are 1 part each.
Chop and mix. Then pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of raw materials and leave to cool for about 30 minutes. Strain. Store in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days. Drink 1 glass 2-3 times a day. Course for 20 days with a break in a week.
From the second course, increase the dose of the collection to 2 tablespoons. Treatment lasts up to 5 courses.
The most powerful of the herbs in terms of soothing effect is undoubtedly valerian. She is the queen in the realm of soothing medicinal herbs. A little lower are hawthorn, motherwort and St. John's wort. In addition, medicinal herbs have a host of other properties. After all, folk herbs for the treatment of VVD and having a calming effect are mostly poisonous and can cause great harm to the body if the dosage and timing of treatment are violated. You need to be aware of this when taking this or that herb so as not to fall into another hole, sometimes much deeper than vegetovascular dystonia.

The Russian people, as well as the British and some other nationalities, cannot imagine their life without tasty, fragrant tea with a velvety aftertaste. That's just the residents "Foggy Albion", that is the UK, drink tea at 5 pm. Russian people are so fond of this invigorating drink that these residents drink several cups of tea a day. This is especially true for representatives of creative professions and freelancers. And the question becomes more and more "what herbs can be brewed and drunk instead of tea".

The fact is that black tea, like green tea, is very invigorating, and the increased consumption of tannins and caffeine, which are contained in these varieties, negatively affect the nervous system. Since tea lovers understand the harmful effects of tea on tooth enamel and nerves, they are looking for an alternative. What herbs can be brewed and drunk instead of tea? In ancient times in Russia, the people brewed all kinds of plants that have a very beneficial effect on the body - they strengthen and heal it. Among the herbs popular at that time, you can find fireweed, thyme, Ivan tea and many others. But the variety doesn't end there. More and more often, not only herbs are added to teas, but also spices, dried fruits and berries. Some herbal drinks still have contraindications.

Various herbs can be drunk instead of tea every day if you have read the contraindications. This is a huge plus. The more you drink, the stronger and more resilient you become. At the same time, herbal infusions have many additional amazing properties.

Sometimes even herbs can have a harmful effect on the body. The fact is that the composition of herbal tea usually includes a wide variety of plants that have one or another therapeutic effect. Some raise the pressure, others lower it. The same is true with potency. Some herbal drinks can adversely affect health, so you should familiarize yourself with the contraindications in advance.

  1. If a young couple drinks mint tea in excessive quantities, this may affect the conception of an unborn child. It is especially not recommended to drink a lot of mint tea for the stronger sex.
  1. Nettle, oregano or thyme are not the best option if you are planning to become a mother. It should be remembered that some plants can cause uterine contractions, and this is fraught with premature birth or miscarriage.

Even if you have no contraindications, be careful when choosing your herbal tea for every day. After drinking, analyze the reactions of your body: are there any headaches, allergies, shortness of breath or discomfort in the abdomen.

    I want to remind you once again how to properly use herbal preparations for treatment so that they bring maximum benefit. All dosages of herbal preparations are given based on mild and moderate severity of the disease. In the case of a severe course of the disease (lying down, moving only around the apartment with difficulty for a long time), depending on the duration of the disease, the dose of herbs should be increased by 1-2 tbsp. When the improvement process is outlined, it is better to pass the entire collection through a coffee grinder and take 1 tsp, which is also divided into 3 parts. Pour 1 part of the ground composition with 100 g of boiling water at a temperature of 90 °, insist in a dark place for 3 hours and drink 50 g in the morning, before sunrise, and in the evening, at 19.00, for another 6 months in courses of 2-3 weeks with 7-10 days breaks.

    Traditional medicine recommended tea, decoctions and tinctures of hawthorn with many ailments, including hyperactivity and insomnia, with atherosclerosis, as a means of strengthening the myocardium and regulating coronary vessels. In addition, hawthorn has been used as an antiallergic medicine, antispasmodic, heartache tonic, and sometimes toothache, diuretic, and antirheumatic. It should be used for fatigue, thyroid disorders, nicotine and alcohol poisoning, and infectious and menopausal conditions.

These numbers are cosmic, divine, therefore, when compiling them yourself, do not change the amount of ingredients according to your own understanding. It is better if the herbs are collected by girls under the age of 18 with pure thoughts and a healthy lifestyle (non-drinkers, non-smokers, non-drug addicts). When collecting herbs, one must be attuned to healing the patient. When buying herbs, pay attention to their color: they should not be withered, pale. Herbs in plastic bags are a crime, the fees in them do not breathe, but suffocate and lose all their medicinal properties. Herbs in bunches or in paper packaging are what you need.

Dangerous combinations of medicinal herbs

Doctors usually prescribe pills for us, but we take herbs on our own, without consulting specialists, thinking that they cannot harm our health. Therefore, we need to know the dangerous combinations of herbs and various drugs.

Phytotherapy is not harmful

Today, a variety of dietary supplements based on medicinal herbs are becoming increasingly popular. You can buy them without a doctor's prescription, and many of us prescribe them on our own, believing that these are not "chemistry", but just "weeds". However, the active substances in those and others do not fundamentally differ from each other. Being in the composition of preparations obtained by an industrial method, and roots and herbs, such substances are powerful weapons. Sometimes they can be dangerous combinations that can lead to the most unforeseen reactions.

For example, an elderly person decides to start taking ginkgo biloba extract to prevent memory impairment. At the same time, the doctor, who is not aware of this, prescribes acetylsalicylic acid for heart problems. If the patient takes both of these drugs consistently, after a few months such experiments may end in a stroke ...

To avoid this, you need to know and follow a few simple rules:

Tell your doctor about all the supplements and herbs you are taking, as almost all of them have side effects of one kind or another.

Be safe and consult with a phytotherapeutist. These specialists know more about the properties of medicinal herbs than ordinary doctors.

Drink herbs and preparations separately, at different times of the day, so that dangerous combinations of them that can be harmful to health do not form.
