Pvc window ventilation valve. How to choose a supply valve for plastic windows? Feedback and advice

Plastic windows help to keep warmth in the room, keep out cold and sound. But at the same time, they significantly reduce the flow of fresh air. This omission of the designers can be corrected by installing a supply valve on the windows. The main task of the device is to restore natural ventilation in a commercial or residential building.

The need to use a supply valve on plastic windows

The advantages of using plastic windows have been appreciated by many residents of apartments and private houses. Convenient, beautiful and practical windows reduce heat loss and increase the sound insulation of the room. However, along with the advantages, consumers noted one significant disadvantage - the lack of ventilation. This factor worsens the microclimate of the room - humidity rises, the air becomes stale, and people in the house begin to experience a lack of oxygen. As a result, mold appears on the walls and slopes of the room, and the concentration of toxic substances increases.

For normal existence, it is necessary to restore sufficient air circulation. Airing the apartment by opening the window vents nullifies all the advantages of hermetic "plastic" and significantly reduces the heating efficiency. Supply valves allow to resolve the issue.

A supply valve is a device installed on the upper sash of a window in a horizontal position, which performs an exhaust function. The valve maintains an optimal microclimate in the room, eliminates condensation on the glass unit and frame.

The feasibility of using a supply valve on plastic windows is due to a number of advantages:

  • the window light opening remains unchanged;
  • drafts do not occur in the apartment, as with ordinary ventilation;
  • fresh air supply at a sufficient level;
  • during the operation of the valve, there is no heat loss, and the sound insulation of the room remains the same;
  • the ability to regulate the valve;
  • ease of installation and operation.

Design and principle of operation of the supply valve

It is possible to correctly equip window ventilation only if you have a complete understanding of the mechanism of operation of the supply valve.

When installing the valve, part of the rubber seal on the window frame and sash is removed. A thinner special seal is installed in this place. Together with the new seal, the supply valve is also mounted on the window sash - the main element of passive ventilation.

Air from the street is sucked into the interior of the room, and warm air is pushed out through the exhaust vents. Air circulation is due to the pressure difference. Natural air exchange is effective if the outside air temperature is not higher than + 5 ° С. In hot weather, ventilation functions with forced draft.

The supply ventilation window valve consists of the following units:

  1. The outer part - "air intake", is installed on the outside of the frame. A prerequisite is the presence of a visor above the air intake, which prevents rain, snow, etc. from entering the valve.
  2. Telescopic channel - runs through the frame. The element is milled into a plastic window body and fixed with a sleeve.
  3. Internal part installed from inside the room. The most complex unit, which is completed with an outlet nozzle, the simplest filter and a flow control mechanism.

Basic conditions for the operation of the supply valve:

  • serviceable exhaust ventilation in the apartment;
  • air temperature outside the window from + 5 ° С;
  • free air exchange between rooms in the apartment - gaps under the interior doors of at least 2 cm;
  • sealed entrance door.

Council. You can check the operation of the exhaust ventilation of the apartment yourself. Close the door to the room tightly and open the window in the room as far as possible from the ventilation duct. Attach a sheet of paper to the wire rack. If it does not fall and is held by the air flow, then everything is in order with the hood.

Types of supply valves on the window

There are many different models and variations of window supply valves. They differ from each other according to different criteria.

By material of manufacture:

  • plastic;
  • wooden;
  • metal.

By control method:

  • automatic;
  • manual.

When manually operated, the valve is equipped with a special rope. The automatic valve is more convenient to operate. The device independently determines the need to open / close the ventilation hole. Adjustment values \u200b\u200bare set in accordance with the level of humidity and pressure drops in the room.

Important! Manually operating the supply valve is a little risky. The right level is chosen by trial and error. In addition, there is a risk of freezing if the adjustment is incorrect in winter.

By the way air enters the house:

  1. Folded supply valves. One of the most economical options for PVC windows. Cold air is fed into the room through small cutouts in the vestibule. To install such a valve, the windows need not be dismantled. Folded valves have a low flow capacity, sound insulation is sufficient.
  2. Slotted supply valves. Air enters through a slot, which is about 16 mm high. On the outside of the window, the valve is covered with an inlet block (protection from precipitation and small insects). The inner side of the device is closed by a regulating block. The installation of the slotted valve is carried out in a horizontal impost or the upper bar of the sash. The advantages of such a valve: high throughput and the ability to install without dismantling the window.
  3. Clamp-on valves are the best for air permeability. However, the size of the window opening and frame must be "adjusted" to the valve. Installation of the overhead valve cannot be performed on an installed glass unit. These valves are commonly used in production and storage areas.

An interesting option is a handle valve, which is installed instead of an ordinary window handle. Such a device has several advantages:

  • the appearance of the window does not change;
  • the ventilation valve can be located in the place where condensation occurs most often;
  • effective removal of excess moisture;
  • the valve does not freeze in winter (the device has a direct-flow design);
  • the handle valve has a built-in filter that prevents dust from entering the room.

Supply valve selection: manufacturers overview

Choosing a supply valve from a wide range of models is not an easy task. Let's consider the general characteristics of the products of the most popular manufacturers of supply ventilation. After all, conscientious companies in the overwhelming majority of cases produce a quality product.

The French company "Homearea" produces supply valves Aereco... The principle of operation of the supply air devices is based on changing the flow area depending on the level of humidity in the room. Air circulation is carried out subject to the operation of a mechanical or natural exhaust.

The most common manufacturer models:

  1. Aereco EMM series valves are moisture sensitive, hygroregulated. The valve has two mounting methods, which characterize the options for air supply - with an inclined or vertical direction of the jet. It can operate in two modes: "minimum ventilation" and "automatic". Air consumption up to 35 cubic meters / hour at 10 Pa.
  2. Aereco EHA series valves are equipped with a hygro-regulated actuator sensor, which ensures a healthy indoor climate. The set comes with acoustic accessories that perform the function of noise reduction. Air consumption - up to 50 cubic meters / hour at 10 Pa.
  3. Aereco EHA2 series valves are available in a stylish slim body. The device guarantees house sound insulation up to 42 dB. The oblique air flow is directed towards the ceiling area. This ensures progressive heating of the outdoor air. The device has three operating modes: minimum, automatic and maximum air flow.

Supply valve for window Air Boxavailable in three configurations: Standart, Comfort without milling and Comfort-S.

The Comfort model is installed in two ways - with / without milling. Milling - drilling or sawing out at the top of the ventilation duct sash.

Important! Milling doubles the capacity of the supply valve. But usually the ventilation problem can be solved by a standard installation - without milling.

The Comfort-S damper is designed for installation on blind windows. Installation of such a valve is quite laborious, since it requires drilling a steel reinforced profile. Usually the Comfort-S valve is installed at the factory.

Passive ventilation supply valve - installation Regel-air... The room is ventilated automatically. Depending on the temperature in the room and outdoors, the device independently regulates the degree of ventilation.

The Regel-air climatic valve has the following advantages:

  • affordable price;
  • hidden installation - when the sash is closed, the valve is not visible;
  • incoming air circulates inside the frame - the air temperature rises;
  • high maintainability;
  • the sound insulation of the room does not deteriorate.

How to install a supply valve on a window: step by step installation

The ventilation valve can be installed on the window in two ways: with and without perforation. Let's consider both options.

Installation sequence for perforated climatic valve:

  1. Instrument preparation:
    • electric drill;
    • jigsaw;
    • file;
    • drills 5-10 mm;
    • construction knife;
    • template for marking valve contours;
    • sealant.
  2. Using a template, mark the contour of the supply valve. The marker must be attached to the upper sash. For this work, it is better to remove the window sash, since the marking is done from the outside and from the inside of the part.
  3. Drill several through holes along the markings with a 5 mm drill. This row will serve as the basis for the larger perforations.
  4. Drill the prepared holes with a 10 mm drill. For the convenience of positioning the valve, holes are drilled from the inside of the sash.
  5. Expansion of the supply valve. Cut out the rest of the material between the pair of extreme holes with a jigsaw. As a result of the work done, a through slot should be obtained. Grind the edges of the hole with a file.
  6. Install the valve mounting plate on the flap overlap surface and secure with self-tapping screws. The part must first be treated with a sealant.
  7. Mill the groove in the frame surfacing. Mark the position of the inlet valve using a template, and then cut the groove with a jigsaw and a file.
  8. Install the outer part of the climatic valve with a visor on the outer surface of the frame. The fixing of the part takes place with self-tapping screws, and the seal is made with a sealant.
  9. Assemble the sash and install it in place - on the frame hinges.
  10. Check the position of the holes in the sash and frame overlap.
  11. Clip the inside of the valve onto the mounting plate. Use clips and latches as fasteners.
  12. Adjust valve operation.

Let's consider how to install a supply valve on a plastic window without resorting to perforation:

  1. Prepare for installation work:
    • an ordinary cross screwdriver;
    • stationery knife;
    • marker and ruler.
  2. Open the sash and remove a part of the seal that seals the gap between the frame and the sash. The old gasket is cut with a knife from the frame overlap. On the vacant space, stick a special gasket, which is supplied with the supply valve.
  3. Direct valve mounting:
    • install three plugs with the “skirt” down in the grooves from the seal;
    • fix the valve on the sash overflow - the device is attached from above in the direction of brackets to the window;
    • fix the valve with self-tapping screws passed through the brackets;
    • install the seal in the groove between the brackets.

In this case, the gap between the valve and the seal on the frame acts as a ventilation duct.

Adjustment and operation of the supply window valve

The inlet valve can be operated manually and automatically. Automation is more convenient and is usually supplemented with a humidity control sensor. As the humidity decreases, the air flow decreases, and vice versa - the air circulation increases as the room humidity rises.

With manual control, mistakes can be made, which sometimes lead to overcooling of the room and freezing of the climatic valve.

Important! In severe frosts, the supply valve must not be completely closed.

Maintenance of the vent valve is reduced to cleaning every 6 months. Dust can be removed from the outer visor with a vacuum cleaner, and the body can be wiped with a damp cloth.

Do not use chemicals for cleaning. In addition, you must refrain from cleaning the device under running water. When carrying out repair work in the room, the valve must be closed - this will protect it from dirt and dust.

The supply valve for PVC windows is a practical and necessary purchase that improves the microclimate in the house. You can do the installation of the supply valve on plastic windows with your own hands. The installation method depends on the valve model and its equipment.

Helpful information

The installation of plastic windows can lead to a violation of the microclimate in the house or office: an increase in the humidity of the environment, a lack of oxygen and musty air. It is easy to eliminate such problems with the supply valves on the window openings.

TBM-Market has a large selection of window ventilators from leading Russian and world manufacturers. They normalize natural ventilation and stabilize air exchange in residential or non-residential premises.

Advantages of supply valves

The valve consists of an internal adjustable grille and an external visor. The last element blocks rainfall from entering the house and is equipped with a protective mesh from small insects. An internal controlled part allows you to set the amount and direction of movement of fresh air.

The features of window ventilators include the following:

  • the light zone of the glass unit remains free;
  • no drafts, like from an open window;
  • the flow of outdoor air passes organically, in full;
  • there will be no heat losses;
  • maintaining sound insulation;
  • you can set the operating parameters, especially if these are automatic systems;
  • easy installation and use.

The ventilation valve looks like a narrow box that is attached to the crossbar of the window opening. Internal parts, called feathers, are responsible for the flow of air from the outside. In good weather, the device lets air flow into the apartment, and in strong winds, the feathers block the cold from entering the room. Due to the fact that ventilation is automatically regulated, there is no need to open windows for ventilation in the morning and in the evening.

Classification

Choosing a supply valve, you can rely on the following criteria:

  1. Release material:

  • metal;
  • plastic.
  • By type of control:
    • mechanical adjustment, where the required level of ventilation is manually set;
    • automatic option, when the element itself determines the opening / closing period of the supply duct depending on humidity, pressure surges in the room, the number of people in the house, etc.
  • By the type of air flow into the room:
    • Folding mechanism, when air flows through small holes in the valve. It is not necessary to dismantle the window, but the flow capacity of the valve is low, sound insulation qualities may suffer.
    • Slotted systems where air enters the premises through an opening up to 16mm high. Outside, the system is covered with a protective block against small insects and moisture. The inner part is represented by a control flap. Installation is carried out on the upper vertical or horizontal crossbar.
    • Overhead elements. Installation is not performed on an existing glass unit.
    • Wall-mounted mechanism, where air exchange passes through a hole in the wall and a plastic pipe. This expensive, but also effective device goes on sale already with forced heating or filters for air purification.
  • By installation method:
    • With built-in flaps that come with PVC windows.
    • With milling, when the element can be purchased after installing the glass unit.
    • No installation.
  • Depending on the manufacturer:
    • Russia;
    • France;
    • Germany.

    Good to everyone and everyone separately!

    One of my friends, a talkative one, began to complain more and more about not feeling well. She, of course, is no longer a girl, but a lady at a respectable age, but she still goes to work. And that's where he catches a cold. Without opening the window, he cannot breathe because of the stuffiness, but when he opens it, he falls under a draft. I tried to find out if there is a supply valve in the window. It turned out that she knew nothing about him. If you hear about such a device for the first time, then read on.

    Ventilation issues in PVC windows, or why do you need a supply valve?

    The first thing I want to say: I'm talking about the supply valve not for the sake of advertising the products of my company, but to expand the circle of people who will know how to make the microclimate of a room with PVC windows as pleasant as possible.

    Plastic double-glazed windows provide the room with excellent heat and sound insulation. But a person cannot stay in a sealed space around the clock and feel comfortableif the room is not ventilated or equipped with a good ventilation system.

    Manufacturers of insulating glass units have long developed a number of ventilation devices for PVC profiles.

    What is the purpose of the voiced additional elements? They provide an inflow of fresh air for ventilation of the room and remove polluted air from it.... There are many valve models, as well as manufacturers, and today you can easily find ventilation window accessories from the Belgian company Titon, the French company Aereco or the German Siegenia.

    If we talk about ventilation products in more detail, then I refer to the main devices for small ventilation systems and compact opening stops, which are closer to fittings in their characteristics. Plug-in elements for PVC profiles, such as, for example, ventilation ducts, valves, dampers with an opening mechanism, have the same purpose, but are subject to a separate classification. Choosing from the available assortment, you need to know in advance which principle of ventilation devices regulation - automatic or manual - suits you best. Knowledge, albeit superficial, about the principles of operation of at least some ventilation additions will not be superfluous.

    To begin with, I'll tell you a little about ventilation slats and dampers, the variations of which are many. They are adjusted manually, their mechanism of operation is similar to the functionality of the opening limiters, but their presence should be provided even when taking measurements of window openings. That is, you cannot take them off and put them on as accessories - these are separate parts built directly into window structures.

    When looking at the section of the ventilation strip, you can see that this is a multi-chamber profile. How many working through holes you need at the moment, you open as many. In this case, the supply of "oxygen" occurs through the systems formed by the ventilation holes offset relative to each other.

    What are the disadvantages of such ventilation slats? With the openings open, not only fresh air will flow into the room, but also street noise. Therefore, I recommend this type of ventilation device only if the windows of the room face a quiet street or if the presence of background noise will not be considered a serious annoying factor.

    Otherwise, it is better to choose a ventilation device in the form of, for example, the German Siegenia Aeromat noise-reducing ventilator. With its help, air exchange occurs due to the pressure difference. The device is controlled by acting on the lever drive, which can be installed on any type of window frame.

    The disadvantage of the Aeromat design is the need to donate 8 cm of the skylight along the upper horizontal of the window, since this is exactly how much space the ventilator will take between the glass unit and the profile. In the opinion of the manufacturer, this is a small problem and the device is predicted to have high consumer demand among buyers aimed at improving the arrangement of double-glazed windows in homes or offices.

    Another object to study is the REHAU-Climamat, a ventilation valve mounted directly on a window element. Its functionality allows you to control the volume of incoming air, adjust the degree of humidity in the room atmosphere and bring the room climate to the desired level.

    Moreover, the product is small and does not require breaking the integrity of the window profile.

    The main advantages of the valve:

    • silent control of incoming air volumes;
    • acts as a filter;
    • air flow is regulated by a special valve with several levels;
    • drafts will not disturb - air distribution occurs in a vertical plane;
    • designed for any load;
    • not tied to a specific type of profile.

    The valve is automatic. The membrane contained in it silently moves from position to position when it opens or blocks air access. With moderate exposure to wind, the membrane does not interfere with the passage of the air mass. As the effect increases, the membrane changes position, driven by the air flow. Therefore, with an increase in wind outside, the room is not threatened with excessive heat dissipation. As soon as the impact on the membrane is reduced, the passage of fresh air resumes.

    The valve was originally created with a focus on window frames for panel buildings... The first device was introduced to the market in 1986 by Rehau AG, after a ventilation problem was discovered due to the installation of translucent structures with plastic profiles.

    The French company Aereco is the next decent ventilation manufacturer to advocate for reasonable ventilation. This manufacturer equips its models of air inlets with polyamide fabric sensors-drives. The level of humidity in the air affects the fabric, which stretches when humidity rises and shrinks when the air becomes less humid. Thus, the dryness of the room atmosphere is regulated, due to which the problem with excess water vapor, the formation of condensate on glass units and mold colonies on the slopes disappears.

    When choosing an Aereco valve, you will need to invite a specialist for inserting such devices into a window profile. When choosing the right model, you need to take into account the technical capabilities of each regarding noise absorption and air consumption.

    With Aereco, you don't have to worry about colds due to drafts - the cold air flow is always directed towards the ceiling. When the valve is fully opened, the device provides sound insulation in the range of 33-42 dB. The device is active around the clock, does not require an electrical connection, the valve starts moving when the atmospheric humidity changes. It can be installed on frames made of any material, including wood. To maintain impeccable hygiene, the valve must be cleaned once a year without removing it from the frame.

    The Aereco valve can even be used on residential windows in regions where winters are severe. Despite the absence of heating elements inside the structure, the formation of ice on it, due to the difference in temperatures between the outside and room air, does not occur. There is nothing mysterious about this phenomenal feature of the device: the incoming cold air affects the unheated parts of the valve, preventing the warm air humid mass from the room from contacting them. Therefore, freezing does not occur.

    If you are thinking about stabilizing the humidity level in the kitchen or bathroom, I can recommend the exhaust grilles from the same manufacturer.

    Like the device described above, they independently determine the degree of saturation of air with moisture and, when the desired level is exceeded, they begin to remove it. For those who like to control such processes, a manual switching mode is provided. If desired, the device can be supplemented with a fire protection system, fan or filter. But even when using only the basic version, it will be more comfortable to breathe not only in a room with a source of increased moisture release, but also in the entire apartment.

    However, I will return directly to the valves for the windows. In our capital, Aereco products are found on double-glazed windows from various manufacturers. Since the installation of the product can be carried out both when creating a separate structure, and on double-glazed windows already standing in the window openings, without resorting to dismantling or replacing frames. Therefore, today the service of adding an Aereco ventilation valve to a double-glazed window does not surprise anyone.

    A pleasant difference of this valve model is that when fastened to a cover (frame, impost, casement or frame-casement), the window light opening will not decrease. And it is this factor that can become decisive in the decision to purchase this particular version of the ventilation addition.

    See the video about the principle of operation of the Air-Box supply valve for plastic windows:

    Ventilation valve AEREKO

    The unpleasant consequence of the installation of plastic double-glazed windows - excessive sealing, leading to an increase in the level of humidity in the premises, the appearance of mold on the slopes of windows and walls of the room, the formation of condensation on the glass with the arrival of the cold season, the consumer initially encountered. Having seen one or several manifestations, people immediately began to blame the manufacturers of double-glazed windows for the problem. They say that the plastic is of poor quality or this technology is wrong, since such problems did not arise from windows in ordinary frames.

    In fact, everything described happens for one reason - due to the lack of an established process of air exchange, which is why the moisture released by us during the period when we are in the room remains in the atmosphere of the room.

    Many of us live in buildings where exhaust ducts are provided only in special premises (kitchen and bathroom). According to SNIPs and GOSTs, additional air flow was supplied due to the presence of micro-slots in wooden frames. Those. it turns out that all these drafts from under the windowsills and frames were not only the result of their physical drying out, but also a necessary factor in the projects. Thanks to him, residents of apartments with normal heating did not encounter such a phenomenon as mold on the walls and condensation on the glass.

    When installing plastic double-glazed windows, the air exchange through the micro-slots of the window frames stopped, so all the moisture released by people during breathing, during cooking or washing, remains inside apartments and houses. Other products of our vital activity accumulate there, albeit invisible to sight.

    What remains in our homes besides water vapor:

    • carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere of the room when we breathe;
    • evaporation from the surface of the decorative finish;
    • smells from cooking dishes;

    I would also add radon to this list, the exceeding of the norms of which in any home with PVC double-glazed windows without ventilation is more and more often declared by representatives of the sanitary and epidemiological supervision. This gas is classified as an inert gas, it has no smell or color, but it is a source of radioactive radiation. Doctors consider it a slightly less aggressive killer of people than nicotine, which leads to death from lung cancer. Radon is credited with 8/10 of all household exposure that a person gets from household sources. Where does this gas come from in our homes? From building materials and earth, so it is almost impossible not to get into the field of its rays. Unless you provide your home with high-quality ventilation.

    We arrange ventilation of a room with PVC double-glazed windows by means of ventilation

    Modern plastic double-glazed windows have very convenient functions.

    In addition to ensuring complete tightness, they allow you to open the sash as you please - by fully opening it, slightly opening only the upper part with an inclination towards you, setting the slot ventilation.

    However, some of the owners of houses or apartments with such windows open the vents in the old fashioned way. Or it does not ventilate the premises at all in the winter, trying to keep such an expensive warmth in the house today.

    The main reasons for this behavior:

    • advertising, which says that thanks to plastic windows near the window opening, it does not blow anywhere, apparently, it worked on the subconscious so that people simply do not open the vents in winter (this aggravates the problem, because ventilation is necessary in houses with PVC structures);
    • crevice and normal ventilation can lead to the formation of a draft, and they try to avoid it;
    • in theory, in order to maintain normal working capacity and feel cheerfulness in the body, we need fresh air, at least 25 cubic meters per hour; to provide oneself with such an amount, the room needs to be aired for 5 minutes 24 times a day - naturally, no one just bothers about this;
    • street noise in some cities annoys people living near transport arteries so much that residents categorically do not want to open plastic windows, even for mandatory ventilation (not everyone agrees to sacrifice 25 dB of sound insulation even for a short period of time).

    I do not argue, it's a shame, having spent a lot of money on double-glazed windows, completely relieving you of street noise, endure it when you let fresh air inside the house. It’s even more offensive when you expect to freshen up the atmosphere of a room, and instead you get the remnants of smog.

    In addition to this problem, opening the sash of a double-glazed window in normal or slot mode has a number of other negative consequences:

    • a sharp change in temperature;
    • getting into the room of allergenic pollen and ordinary street dust;
    • creating dangerous conditions for a child, pet;
    • the ability to suffer from intruders (especially important for residents of the first floors).

    This is how the main reasons look for the fact that having modern glazing in apartments, people suffer from excess air humidity in the premises, but still refuse to ventilate or do it too rarely. Breaking this vicious circle is easy with an air inlet valve. For example, such as AERECO.

    It was developed with the aim of providing people with the opportunity to live in apartments with PVC windows in the most comfortable conditions. This is the only compromise solution for those who do not want to personally engage in multiple ventilation of the home, but do not want to sacrifice their health because of this. With the AERECO ventilation damper, fresh air will enter the premises even with the shutters permanently locked. In this case, neither drafts nor a sharp drop in air temperature will occur.

    Installation of the AERECO automatic supply ventilation valve on an already installed window unit in the video:

    All major benefits

    I count seven of them in total:

    • the valve provides up to 35 cubic meters of fresh air per hour (in a room with such ventilation, the head will not hurt once again, it is always easy to breathe);
    • a working AERECO damper does not affect the soundproofing qualities of the window;
    • the valve will not be a source of noise and draft (the air flow will be directed towards the ceiling);
    • the ventilation valve is reliable in the fight against radon radiation, because it provides a round-the-clock supply of fresh air;
    • when studying the valve, you do not need to think that you bought a defective one, when you find the product lacks tightness - this is a technical solution to the problem of freezing of the ventilation device;
    • the AEREKO valve is small, it is fixed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe through rectangular slot on the upper horizontal of the frame, so it does not affect the amount of light transmitted by the glass unit;
    • always and on any window you can put the AERECO valve without removing the frame and without cutting out unnecessary holes in it (very convenient if there is no pre-installed ventilation system in the glass unit);
    • aEREKO valve will allow you to forget about condensate, mold, stuffiness and radon forever.

    How to find the right vent valve

    I consider the elegant design of the AERECO supply valve to be an additional bonus to excellent technical characteristics.

    devices. Because, even if it was unsightly in appearance, it still should be installed. Indeed, with its presence, a bunch of sanitary and hygienic problems will leave your home. The table will help you navigate the advantages of AERECO over supply valves of other types and brands.

    We independently carry out the installation of the ventilation valve

    I do not advise you to pay attention to supply valves at a seductively low price and, moreover, to trust the installation of the device to a random person. You can screw up the double-glazed window so that it remains only to dismantle and throw it away.

    As for the cost. AERECO valve in a complete set (I am talking about the EHA and EMM series) costs about 150 euros. The complete set should be understood as the presence of the ventilation device itself, a mosquito net and an acoustic visor. A product for a similar purpose of the VENT Air II brand costs less - 2,000 rubles. However, flawless installation of both devices is only possible in the factory.

    In practice, this looks like a cut in the frame profile of a pair of through channels using an adapted milling machine. You cannot carry out such a process on the profile of an installed window - only a similar one, but there will be no sense from it.

    I admit that the stars will smile at you, and you will meet a person who is ready to install a supply valve of one of the above models on the window. Do you want me to tell you how events will develop further and how the valve installation will end?

    To maintain the image of a professional, the craftsman will take out an incomprehensible-looking metal template, and then try it on the frame. He will make some kind of markup or remember the visible points for him alone for the contact of the worn device with the frame.

    Armed with a drill, he will ditch the profile, having drilled more than a dozen through holes in it - at this stage it is already possible to say goodbye to the tightness of the profile.

    After cutting each hole, the surrounding area will be decorated with a portion of fine metal dust and shavings. Then, with the help of a jigsaw, through channels will appear, which will be brought to the "ideal" state with an ordinary file. The resulting holes will be covered with an inlet valve, and this mess will cost an unknown amount - its size is limited only by the conscience of the master.

    For your own money, you get a disabled window disguised as a modernized one, a lot of dirt and the prospect of soon looking for funds for a new double-glazed window. To avoid such a fate will help the acquisition of a supply valve that does not require a tie-in in the profile. For example, such as a Russian-made product, the Air-Box Comfort valve. The installation of a product, which, for a second, costs only 400 rubles, does not require significant skills in using male tools and - it is enough to know how to handle a screwdriver. Detailed instructions in Russian greatly simplify the process - you do and you know that you are not reinventing the wheel at your own expense, but following the recommendations of real specialists.

    Feedback on the operation of the Air-Box Comfort inlet valve in the video:

    Can your apartment windows breathe at night?

    It is not enough for a person to have a roof over his head; he strives to create maximum comfort in his home. The comfort of the atmosphere in the house depends on the warmth of the air, its humidity and the speed of movement. If all parameters are normal, it is easy to breathe inside the house, work and rest easily. When a distortion occurs, for example, due to a decrease in the volume of oxygen, problems begin with the general well-being of the inhabitants of the house. A person reacts in the same way to an increase in humidity or volume of hardly noticeable to the human sense of smell, but still real fumes from furniture, flooring.

    What to do in this case? Establish a process of manual or automatic ventilation - a portion of fresh air from the street will quickly normalize the state of the atmosphere at home. The carbon dioxide released during our breathing will leave it, fresh and not very aromas of food will evaporate, the balance of moisture in the air will even out. All these processes are described in one word - VENTILATION.

    You cannot do without it even when there is no one in the apartment or house. Everything in the home environment has the ability to breathe, although the process is different from what we are used to understanding by this term. As a result, the air of the home is filled with moisture from aquariums, plants, and the breath of pets in the house. But the volumes of water replenishment in this case are small and micro-slots of the apartment in the walls, window and doorways will cope with their output to the street.

    By the time the owners return home, the humidity level is kept at the baseline level.

    The value of this parameter is influenced by many factors. Among them are the degree of air cooling outside the house, the number and power of heating devices inside it, the presence of controlled and uncontrolled household sources of moisture.

    Excess moisture in the air is just as harmful as its deficiency. But with the arrival of the heating season, the relative humidity of the atmosphere of the apartment can drop to 15%, which is very harmful. Then you need to think about installing a device to saturate the air in the room with moisture.

    However, the situation with the balance of water in the room atmosphere changes dramatically with the arrival of the owners. Vapors from damp clothes, human breath, hygiene procedures, and washing, lead to an increase in moisture concentration. As the activity subsides, humidity also falls, but significant changes in saturation occur only during airing. In the morning, everything repeats itself and the air is again filled with moisture due to our usual actions: cooking breakfast, hygiene procedures.

    If it seems to you that people breathe out not so much moisture, then I will only say one thing: during sleep one person exhales about a liter of water. Multiply this volume by the number of household members. Now it is clear why in the morning the apartment before airing sometimes resembles a sauna? And an excess of moisture in the air is not only a slight discomfort when breathing, but also a headache, a feeling of weakness.

    In general, take control of the humidity level in the house into your own hands. If in the evenings you like to gather with a large family at the TV, then you can ventilate the room both before the start of the home cinema session and after. Before going to bed, if you want everyone to be awake in the morning, and not sleepy hens, do not forget to let a portion of fresh air into the bedroom.

    Of course, you will have to spend money on warming up cold air. However, it is also impossible to neglect ventilation for reasons of economy. Those citizens who pay for a communal flat without taking into account personal actual expenditures of energy resources, somehow do not think about communication: more often you ventilate, more energy is spent on heating the house. The same cannot be said about the people who switched to individual meters.

    No matter what category of citizens your family belongs to, questions about the consumption of heat energy must be approached consciously. Even residents of a multi-storey building can increase the heat level in their apartments without having direct access to valves to regulate the heat supply to the batteries.

    The simplest, but not losing its effectiveness, way is to exclude the points of unauthorized leakage of heat into the space. This is achieved by insulating windows, doorways, replacing light curtains with dense curtains. If the boiler room does not work as actively as necessary, then you cannot do without an additional heating device.

    I can offer a more modern way to solve the problem of heat leakage from the house - replace the old frame structures with modern PVC double-glazed windows. In addition to the ability to stand as a faithful guardian for the protection of room heat, modern windows provide high-quality protection from street noise and dust. But bad luck, in the absence of a built-in ventilation system, such windows become a source of problems with humidity and contribute to the concentration of radon, carbon dioxide, and unpleasant odors in the atmosphere of an apartment.

    As a result, you begin to notice that:

    • pVC window glass is now and then covered with condensation (especially in the cold season);
    • mold spots appear here and there on the snow-white slopes;
    • stuffiness is felt in the apartment every now and then.

    What is the reason? The old wooden frames were the so-called cold bridges, through which the heat accumulated in the room flowed out into the street. But through the same cracks, not only excess moisture left the room, but fresh air also filtered in. With the installation of PVC double-glazed windows, all these holes disappeared. Not everyone has the habit of frequently ventilating the house. As a result, stationary ventilation ducts in the bathroom and in the kitchen no longer cope with the load and the house, and at the same time you and your family, begin to suffer from manifestations of high humidity.

    If you have a good habit to ventilate the room at least once a day, problems due to plastic double-glazed windows may not arise. At your disposal, even with the purchase of a basic set of windows, the ability to open the sashes in the same way as was done with the vent in a window with a wooden frame, or turn the sash in an inclined plane or use slot ventilation. Do not forget about the same opening limiters.

    Starting airing:

    • make sure that neither you nor anyone close to you get into the draft zone when airing;
    • be ready to suffer a little from street noise even with slot ventilation - the level of sound insulation for this period will drop to 18 dB with slot ventilation and up to 9 dB with normal ventilation;
    • do not leave an open window unattended if you live on the first floor and do not have a protective frame on the opening (at night, do not even think to go to sleep without locking the windows);
    • do not leave the open window unattended if there are children, a cat, or birds outside the cage at home;
    • with high humidity in a room or a large crowd of people in an apartment, open the sash more often than usual (if someone is against it, try to explain the reason for your love for manipulating the window).

    Of course, when installing new PVC double-glazed windows, you hardly expected a new scope of responsibilities. Most likely, the manager who offered the windows did not tell about them. And when asked about the dangers of complete airtightness of a dwelling, in response you heard, I think, only about the provided micro-ventilation of the windows.

    Yes, a certain amount of outside air will penetrate into the room through the channels in the window profile - they are specially made at the factory. However, these receipts can only fight, for example, fogging of windows. But these tiny canals are not able to meet your family's needs for fresh air. Think for yourself: according to SNIPU, it is necessary to update the atmosphere of the room at a rate of three cubic meters of air per hour for every square meter of residential area. Can such a volume of air masses seep into the tiny holes of your window profile? Therefore, the ventilation process must be constantly supervised either independently or with the help of auxiliary devices.

    The presence of fresh air in the house is a guarantee of the health of each of its inhabitants, the basis of well-being in all its manifestations. After all, not experiencing a lack of oxygen, we are more cheerful, with less effort we solve existing problems. Yes, we are just glad that the next morning will come, and we are not struggling with the desire to stay forever under the canopy of a blanket.

    If serious health problems have not happened yet, thank heavens, but you are worried about the sudden appearance of mold on the slopes, then you are not nervous for nothing. This is one of the first indications that there is a problem due to the tightness of plastic insulating glass units.

    Until other unpleasant surprises follow, take control of the proper ventilation of the room.

    Even if there are no extended lines for fresh air in the existing glass unit, the situation can be corrected even without radical methods. And you don't have to constantly pay attention to the vents, opening them and locking them every hour. Everything has already been thought out, invented and even produced before you realized that you need to do something with the manifestations of excessive moisture in the house.

    All owners of apartments or houses with installed double-glazed windows face problems due to sealed windows.

    The cost of the latter does not affect their ability to withstand the accumulation of excess moisture in the room. Only the presence of an inlet valve or the habit of carrying out full ventilation several times a day matters.

    What are hinged ventilation systems? All models can be divided into built-in window profiles even during the assembly of structures at the factory and into ready-made double-glazed windows mounted in openings. The latter type eliminates the need to spend money on reinstalling new-sample glass units with pre-installed ventilation valves. When choosing the latter, I recommend choosing models in which ventilation is carried out in automatic mode. Otherwise, how will running to the inlet valve be different from running to the window sashes for ventilation in the usual format?

    In order for the device to work independently of the control on your part, you need to configure its response to a specific parameter. It is most convenient to focus on the humidity indicator of the room atmosphere. After all, its level most often jumps both because of our natural life activity, and as a result of actions that we often perform at home: we cook, wash, dry our clothes after forced walks in the rain.

    If we take control of this very humidity, then in addition to the general improvement in well-being, the problem with the appearance of mold on the slopes and walls will be solved along the way, the windows will stop fogging up.

    In order not to provoke problems with well-being due to constant fluctuations in humidity, the devices controlling it for windows should be chosen from a line of products with hygro-controlled automatic systems. Then the moisture stabilization will take place smoothly and around the clock, without unnecessary consumption of room heat.

    For more than 20 years, the French manufacturer of ventilation systems AERECO has been supplying the market with automatic air inlets for humidity regulation. The EHA and EMM models are able to work autonomously and without the aid of exhaust grilles. But then you have to pay a little more on electricity bills.

    Products are small-sized, can work on structures made of any material, do not reduce the volume of incoming light, since they are placed on the frame itself, equipping the profile from the inside and outside. Even when operating at full capacity, they do not let the street noise haunt you, as they sound damping index ranges from 33-42 dB. Particularly pleasing is the fact that for the installation of the device there is no need to interfere with the profile device or remove the glass unit.

    In operation, these supply valves are very convenient and do not allow drafts to form, since they direct the incoming air towards the ceiling. In the homeland of plastic windows - in France, and in the rest of Europe, these devices have been in operation for a long time. And I think it's time for us to master the culture of the correct use of plastic double-glazed windows. After all, they were created for our comfort, and not for the opportunity to add problems to our lives.

    How to solve the ventilation problem after installing PVC windows, see the video:

    Features of the supply valve

    Plastic bags have taken root here too. Indeed, with their help, you can ensure silence even in an apartment overlooking a busy highway, reliably protect your home from drafts, cold and precipitation. However, they have one drawback that prevents you from enjoying the functionality of PVC windows - because of them, the premises become airtight and the process of natural air exchange observed in apartments with wooden frames is reduced to nothing.

    There are no microcracks in the plastic profiles, through which the apartments received rather substantial portions of fresh air. Therefore, the modernized apartment needs to be ventilated either by opening the doors with your handles or with the help of special air inlets.

    Any modern ventilation valve on a glass unit becomes a solution to a number of problems.

    Among them:

    • stabilization of the humidity level in the room;
    • headaches of households due to gas pollution of the atmosphere of the room with breath products, fumes from the surface of household items.

    How the ventilation valve works

    This is an invention for installation on the sash of a plastic window (upper horizontal), so that in this place small volumes of air pass through the barrier of the profile of the glass unit: fresh air inside the room, stale from it.

    In addition to the device for installation in the upper window strip, it is possible to use structures for insertion into the foam joint between the frame block and the wall, into the window strip itself or into the space between the sash and the PVC window frame.

    In the case when there is a supply device, but the problems with mold and excess air humidity have not disappeared, then I will authoritatively declare that you bought and installed a fake valve. Therefore, be careful when choosing such a product, do not rejoice at the opportunity to save a lot. Most likely, the low price of the valve is an indicator that they are trying to sell you a fake.

    We carry out the installation of the structure

    There is nothing difficult in installing the valve if each step corresponds to a certain point in the instructions. All you need is the valve itself, a normal and handy screwdriver, and a sharp clerical knife. It is better not to install supply canopies that need to be installed using milling on your own - a professional will not only do everything beautifully, but will also preserve the "life" of the glass unit itself.

    The indisputable advantages of a ventilation supply unit:

    • it can be placed on any frame (wood, aluminum, plastic);
    • it does not interfere with the light transmission of the window, since it does not reduce the amount of incoming light;
    • the operating device does not reduce the soundproofing of the glass unit;
    • fresh air will enter the room around the clock (this is necessary even if it is winter outside the window);
    • when air is injected, no drafts are formed - the air mass is directed to the ceiling (thanks to this, neither you nor any of your loved ones will blow through, which means that no one will sacrifice health in favor of the desire to maintain normal humidity in the room);
    • the supply of fresh air does not lead to significant heat losses.

    Information about supply valves in the video:

    Valve types

    To equip double-glazed windows with ventilation valves, the market suggests using wooden, metal or plastic supply products. All this mass can be divided into two groups: manually operated and automatic. The first ones are equipped with a special rope, without which it is not very convenient even for a tall person to get to the device located in the upper part of the glass unit. The latter require only the initial adjustment of the orientation parameters, and after that the valves themselves open and close as needed.

    Pressure-based work is carried out using a special curtain equipped with an upper suspension. In strong winds, the curtain creeps up and reduces the amount of air entering the room. Moisture-based operation depends on the readings of a special sensor with nylon bands. When wet, they force the valve to open; when the tapes dry, the opposite process occurs.

    I strongly advise against interfering with the operation of a device designed to work in automatic mode - there is a great risk of freezing the room and damaging the valve. The developers of the product have foreseen everything, so you need to relax and resign from being responsible for the fresh air in the room. The device itself will determine when the moment comes for the exchange of air between the room and the street.

    In order not to miss the selection of a valve for an already standing window, choose a product with technical parameters that are as close as possible to those of the window.

    Care

    The device of the supply ventilation device is simple, as they say, to disgrace, therefore, periodic manipulations to clean the valve from dust and dirt are unlikely to cause difficulties.

    All you need to do is, once a year or two, remove the main layer of dirt with a vacuum cleaner. The surface of the case will have to be wiped with a damp cloth a little more often, focusing on the presence or absence of traces of flies and other types of pollution.

    I do not recommend using anything wetter than a sanitary napkin, because washing or abundant wetting of the valve may result in its failure. It is impossible to use aggressive chemicals and even ordinary water to wet the napkins. When carrying out repair work in a room where there is a ventilation valve on the window, it must be covered with something.

    Anyone can install a ventilation valve

    Installation of a ventilation valve does not require professionalism - it is enough to be able to use a screwdriver and a stationery knife correctly, and have 15 minutes of free time.

    Before starting the installation, remove everything from the window sill in order to save the life of all objects lying there and to exclude the possibility of accidental damage to any part of the glass unit.

    First, attach the product to the profile and with a knife make cuts on the sealing elastic, marking the boundaries of the valve. Deepen the cuts, and then draw out the resulting piece of elastic.

    Insert the dowels into the holes for the self-tapping screws, attach the valve to the sash on them, and then twist all three hardware in them. Insert the rubber seals supplied with the product between the mountings.

    Mounting

    Why have plastic windows become popular? They are an insurmountable barrier to street dust and moisture. But due to their technical features that ensure tightness, the windows interfere, or rather exclude the possibility of natural air conditioning of the room. You can see the consequences of this already a couple of days after the final installation of the double-glazed window into the frame: the glass of the structure begins to become covered with condensation, and puddles begin to grow on the windowsill. Soon, mold will begin to appear on the slopes, if you do not solve this problem in some radical way.

    Regular control over the ventilation is not within the power of everyone - we are too busy with our daily activities to open the window every hour to start up another portion of fresh air. Yes, and in winter such procedures do not really want to be performed when the frost outside is twenty degrees and the north wind.

    By installing a valve on the window, you can solve many problems:

    • you do not need to give up current affairs and be distracted by the airing procedure;
    • the intake of a fresh portion of air is carried out when the atmosphere in the room contains an excess percentage of moisture;
    • airing takes place in a safe mode for all.

    What is a supply valve?

    If your window “cried” with tears of condensation, and the slopes bloomed with spots of mold, then there is only one solution: urgently adjust the air conditioning of the room.

    Then you will quickly get rid of the manifestations of excess moisture. Where does it come from in a room with heating and a secure roof?

    The main sources of moisture are:

    • a resting person releases about 40 g of liquid per hour;
    • a working person releases about 90 g of liquid per hour;
    • one medium-sized flowerpot supplies 10 g of water per hour;
    • all containers with water supply up to 200 g of liquid to the atmosphere of the room in an hour;
    • when cooking, drying wet clothes, wet cleaning, the atmosphere of the apartment receives up to 1000 g of water every hour.

    Just one small valve on a double-glazed window will easily rid the atmosphere of the room from excessive moisture reserves. If it fails, then either its installation was performed in violation of the technology, or you bought a fake.

    How is it mounted?

    Every home craftsman will cope with the installation of a supply valve in ten minutes. Of the auxiliary tools, you only need a screwdriver and a clerical knife. Naturally, the valve is also fully equipped (with 350 mm rubber sealing cords).

    In order not to mess up when removing the rubber in the sash frame, you first need to take measurements and set the markings where the valve will stand.

    Having freed the area from the seal, put in this place first the valve, and then the seal from the kit to the product. Yes, you only need to equip a sash that can be moved.

    Having dealt with the section of the seal that needs to be removed, carefully remove it. At this point, a groove is now clearly visible, where you need to insert three plugs from the valve. Then remove the top strip of double-sided tape from the device and attach it with a sticky area to the place where there are already plugs.

    Using small self-tapping screws, secure the valve by screwing them into the plugs. Try to gently move the device. If it sits securely, then you can glue the sealing rubber.

    Terms of use

    Each ventilation valve to the plastic window is an adjustable device. When placed in the extreme right position, it is breathable. Physically, this can be determined by bringing the hand to the hole - the skin should feel the movement of air. To close the valve, it must be moved all the way to the left position.

    Ventilation valve installation technology in the video:

    When renovating any house or apartment, an important step will be to replace outdated wooden window structures with new plastic windows. Such a change, as a rule, makes a striking change in the appearance of the entire premises, which the owners of the apartments think only about why they did not do it earlier. In addition, thanks to this design, it is possible to significantly reduce heat loss and protect yourself from street noise. In strong heat, the room will not heat up very much, while maintaining an optimal indoor microclimate.

    However, due to such tightness, the apartment may also be broken. In Soviet-built apartment buildings, ventilation channels do not always cope with the increasing load, so you need to know about what kind of supply ventilation on plastic windows is.

    In most designs of modern housing stock, the simplest ventilation systems are presented, which consist of an ordinary kitchen hood or hood installed in the bathroom. The inflow of air masses is provided due to the slots in the window and door openings. This option is successfully used in houses in which ordinary wooden boxes are installed. In the event that you install a set of plastic windows in such a house and install door seals, the inflow of air masses becomes too limited, which can lead to a violation of the microclimate of the room and also:

    • Significantly increase the level of humidity, which makes it difficult to be in the room due to the strong stuffiness.
    • In the rooms, there is a pronounced discomfort associated with a lack of fresh air.

    Sidebar: Important: Due to the lack of fresh air, such an unpleasant effect as "overflow" can occur, when, due to the lack of air in the ventilation shaft, a lot of odors from neighboring apartments begin to penetrate into yours, which, of course, is an extremely undesirable "side effect".

    The ventilation system of plastic windows has a number of its own characteristics. Many people note that in addition to a draft-free system, they begin to have problems such as strong fogging of glasses and stuffiness.

    In the event that users have complaints against the manufacturer, then most often a recommendation is given to open the sashes, setting them to the "ventilation mode". However, in this case, the advantages of the system are not fully understood.

    It is recommended to start dealing with the problem of airing the room at the stage of purchasing plastic windows. When contacting a company that implements such designs, you must inquire about the following features:

    • Is there a window.
    • Is there a "comb". Although the cost of such a device is small, the benefits of its use are quite tangible.
    • Is there a valve for ventilation in this design?
    • Is there a possibility of self-ventilation ..

    Comb. Thanks to this device, the sash can be adjusted to the desired position. This design has a number of differences from a conventional folding mechanism and allows you to independently adjust the opening width of the flaps in various positions.

    Thanks to the use of the vents, the normal operation of the whole can be guaranteed. Air entering the upper space of the room mixes with the air in the room, spreading directly through its volume. The main disadvantage is the fact that due to the complicated design, the price for such a window increases significantly. At the same time, the luminous flux in the room is slightly, but still decreases.

    Self-ventilated windows. For their manufacture, a special type of profile is used, which has holes in the outer and inner upper elements. This ensures the flow of air masses into the upper part of the room. The design of the window provides for the presence of a special chamber that moves the air flow, which returns to the space of the room after passing through the heating.

    There are certain restrictions. For example, those who live on high floors are not recommended to install a wider and more expensive profile. In this case, weak thrust will not be able to ensure the flow of air masses in the required volume. In the heat, the full operation of the system will be difficult, and it will not be able to work due to the peculiarities of the convection process.

    To maintain a normal microclimate both near plastic windows and throughout the room, it is necessary to use special ventilation valves, which are universal devices.

    Today the following installation methods are used:

    • Replacing old double-glazed windows with new ones, which are smaller in order to install a ventilation valve in the vacated space.
    • A valve that is located in one of the elements of the upper sash.

    The first method has certain disadvantages. In particular, there is a decrease in the luminous flux, which increases material costs for additional lighting sources. Professionals advise using the second option, which is implemented in a short period of time (no more than half an hour) and at the same time is cheaper.

    There are options with automatic and manual control. It is advisable to avoid variations in which the valves cannot be adjusted. Manual control is not only more cost-effective, but also allows for convenient airflow control and reduced heat loss. Thanks to the automatic mode, you can constantly maintain a certain humidity and temperature in the room.

    The best option is to combine the two options, since the best results can be achieved with a combined control system.

    The outflow and inflow of air must be carried out in accordance with the norms of air exchange. In order to achieve the best noise absorption, ventilation valves with similar capabilities and technical characteristics are installed on modern window structures.

    Since during operation in the cold season, difficulties often arise, since it is not always possible to predict the appearance of ice, condensation, or. In order to remove certain "risk factors" it is recommended to do the following:

    • Ensure high thermal insulation of the valves, paying particular attention to the part located outside the room.
    • Install a "thermal break" made of plastic in the event that a metal case is currently used.

    The valve is a rather complex device, so its price can be quite high.

    • Slotted valves are available in both mechanical and automatic versions. The room is ventilated by the penetration of fresh air through the ventilation ducts. The advantage of slotted valves is that they are easy to install and provide normal air exchange without the need for dismantling.
    • The seam valves allow for a normal supply of fresh air, which is carried out thanks to the seam cutouts in the window blocks. They are characterized by low bandwidth and excellent sound insulation performance. At the same time, they have a low cost.
    • Overhead valves. They have the largest air flow and have a number of serious disadvantages. For example, they cannot be installed on already installed plastic double-glazed windows, and their use also impairs heat and sound insulation performance.

    The use of overhead climatic valves is most common for solving production and industrial problems; in apartment buildings this method is not particularly common. The most common way of installing plastic windows with ventilation is the "binding" method. Regulation of double-glazed windows for ventilation is carried out both in automatic and manual modes. Automatic control allows you to achieve optimal creation and reduce humidity levels.

    By using valves, complete isolation from external noise sources can be achieved and drafts, dampness, condensation and fogging can be prevented. Since mold, dampness and fungi do not have the best effect on the human body, lowering immunity and performance, it is recommended to trust the installation of ventilation of plastic windows to real professionals with extensive experience and knowledge in their field.

    Regulating valves do not need special care and maintenance. It is enough literally once a year to clean their surface from dust and various contaminants. For normal ventilation of plastic windows, the correct functioning of an ordinary hood is necessary. Otherwise, it is disturbed, and condensation can accumulate in the room and the windows fog up.

    conclusions

    For the effective operation of all the options described above, an established ventilation system is required. Despite the fact that the above options allow for the normal exchange of air in the room, there are various factors that can affect it.

    The appearance of plastic windows saved city residents from noise and smog, but made it impossible to breathe fresh air. An adult on average consumes up to 30 to 60 cubic meters of air per hour, children - from 15 to 30. After 8 hours of sleep in a standard unventilated room (20 sq. M.), The level of carbon dioxide doubles, which leads to lack of sleep, headaches and bad mood in the morning. The problem was solved by engineers who developed a special valve for natural ventilation of the premises.

    The idea of \u200b\u200bsupply ventilation valves appeared in the 70-80s in Western countries. Then, within the framework of reducing energy consumption, they began to introduce projects of residential buildings that did not have natural ventilation. The rapid accumulation of carbon dioxide made new buildings absolutely unsuitable for life.

    The massive installation of plastic windows in the post-Soviet space again raised the problem of natural air exchange. It would seem that the window is easy to open for ventilation, but along with the harmful carbon dioxide, a pleasant warmth leaves the room, especially in winter. If earlier only private houses with individual heating suffered from cooling, then the new policy of economical energy consumption periodically forces even townspeople to sit in fur coats.

    You can solve the stale air problem in one day. The supply ventilation valve for plastic windows is easily installed without the need to dismantle the window frame.

    Advantages of supply valves

    In addition to the main function - ventilation of air in the room, supply valves have a number of additional advantages. Thanks to natural ventilation, excess moisture does not accumulate, and the likelihood of mold and mildew is reduced. It is especially important to monitor the ventilation in the bathroom, kitchen and balcony, since it is in them that there is a high risk of the formation of black mold - a fungus that causes aspergillosis.

    In summer, on hot days, with the window closed, the air in the room heats up in a matter of minutes. Closing or not closing the window when leaving home becomes a real dilemma. However, an unclosed window may result in illegal entry. Therefore, the ventilation valve is your life and property insurance.

    Types of supply valves

    By the type of mechanism, supply valves can be divided into slotted, overhead and folded type. The first and the last do not require dismantling the metal-plastic structure. Overhead valves are installed before the installation of the metal-plastic structure.

    The ventilation mode for each supply valve can be automatic or mechanical. Let's take a closer look at each type.

    Slot-type supply valves

    The slot type ventilation supply valve is the most convenient, optimal and easy to install. The throughput of the supply valve allows natural air exchange without additional ventilation of the room.

    The valve is a gap of about 12–16 mm, which is created using a built-in channel. The channel is connected by external and internal structural units. The first serves as protection from precipitation and insects, the second regulates the air supply.

    Folding type inlet valves

    The main advantage of folded valves is the absence of loss of sound insulation. The installation of the valves will require more effort, but the work can be carried out without dismantling. Many consider insufficient air exchange to be the only drawback of folded valves. The windows will not fog up, but the room will have to be ventilated from time to time.

    Overhead supply valves

    Overhead valves are suitable for ventilation of industrial premises, since they are able to provide the greatest air flow compared to all others. Installing overhead supply valves requires dismantling the window frame. Due to the large loss of heat and sound insulation, it is not recommended to use the overlay type of premises in which people constantly live or work.

    Installation of a slotted supply valve

    Installing a slotted valve is straightforward. You will need the valve itself, a clerical knife and a Phillips screwdriver. First, you need to carefully remove the sealant layer from the sash of the structure with a clerical knife in the place where the valve will be located. To make the hole neat, you need to attach the valve to the sash and make a markup.

    After removing the seal, it is necessary to fix three dowels into the holes of the frame at the place of the intended installation of the valve so that two of them are located at the edges and one in the middle. Then the protective film is removed from the valve. The device is attached to the inserted dowels with self-tapping screws.

    The set with the supply valve contains heaters that must be installed after the installation of the main structure. At the final stage, part of the standard insulation directly on the frame is replaced with the insulation from the kit.

    The entire installation process takes 20 to 30 minutes. Once installed, the slotted valve can be used immediately.

    Ventilation valve manufacturers

    There are a lot of companies that manufacture supply valves on the market. As in other industries, it has its own leaders and its outsiders. Any company valve has advantages and disadvantages.

    The market leader is currently a French company Aerecoreleasing supply valves. Aereco valves have high air exchange rates, low probability of icing and self-regulating air flow. The disadvantages of the mechanism include the need to mill the ventilation duct, the lack of mechanical regulation and high cost.

    Domestic manufacturer produces high quality valve Airboxcomfort... Airboxcomfort supply valves are easy to install and have the ability to mechanically regulate the air flow. However, the valve cannot be installed on a solid flap.

    German company Siegenia developed a more technologically advanced series AEROMAT... AEROMAT supply valves have the highest air exchange and sound insulation performance. Heat loss is minimized. The only drawback of the AEROMAT supply valves is their high price.

    If the tightness of the room is a priority criterion for choosing a ventilation valve, you should pay attention to the Climamat line of the Swiss company Rehau. Climamat supply valves are equipped with a special diaphragm, the flow capacity of which depends on the pressure difference inside and outside.

    Supply valve requirements

    The selection of valves should be based on knowledge of the basic characteristics of the model and its suitability for the stated requirements. Otherwise, the valve installation will not only fall short of expectations, but also cause irreparable harm. Consider the main criteria for choosing a valve for a residential building.

    1. Availability of adjustment

    The ability to mechanically adjust the air should be the main criterion when choosing a supply valve. Devices with automatic control cannot always adequately adapt to sudden temperature changes. If in summer the valve can be opened completely, then in winter, air exchange adjustment will be required in any case.

    2. Air exchange rate

    The air exchange rate should be at least 30 cubic meters per hour per person. There is no point in considering other options.

    3. Loss of sound insulation

    The normal noise level ranges from 30 to 35 dB. The throughput of a plastic window with an installed supply valve should not exceed this level.

    4. Valve operation in the cold season

    The selected supply valve must perform its function efficiently with the onset of cold weather, since if the requirement is not met, icing of the structure and failure are possible. The material from which the valve is made must withstand temperature extremes.

    5. Features of the ventilation valve installation

    It is important to choose a type of supply valve that does not require dismantling the metal-plastic structure. Slotted and folded valves are easy to install yourself. Before purchasing, make sure that the selected valve is mounted on the installed plastic window.

    Questions and answers about ventilation valves

    Question: Why do we need supply valves if modern plastic windows already have a micro-ventilation function?

    Answer: Airing the room with a slightly open window in winter leads to a large heat loss. The valve acts as a barrier to the cold air so that no cooling occurs.

    Question: Is it true that condensate will constantly accumulate on the valve in winter?

    Answer: If the natural exhaust into the room does not work for some reason, condensation may form. Therefore, before installing the valve, it is necessary to check the ventilation capabilities of the room. In a city apartment, it is necessary to inspect the internal ventilation shaft for possible blockages and overlaps when redeveloping an apartment with neighbors. To check the ventilation, it is enough to open the window and bring a candle flame or a sheet of paper with food to the ventilation grill. If a flame or leaf begins to be attracted to the mine, ventilation in the apartment works well, and you can safely install the ventilator. For high-quality ventilation of the room, the doors in the kitchen and in the bathroom should not reach the floor 2–2.5 cm.
    Country houses, as a rule, are built with natural and forced ventilation in mind, so the supply valve can be installed without fear.

    Question: Will the noise level in the room really increase after installing the supply valve?

    Answer: The noise level will increase only if a surface-mounted supply valve is installed. Therefore, it is not recommended to install them in residential premises. Other types of valves have minimal characteristics of loss of sound insulation, since they are equipped with regulating devices. If desired, the valve can be completely closed - the tightness of the window will be restored.

    Question: How difficult is it to install the valve and can you do it yourself?

    Answer: Almost all types of ventilation valves are easy to install. The only exception is the overhead-type supply valves, since the installation of this type requires special skills.

    The selection of the supply valve should depend on the purpose of the installation. For a residential building, a slotted and folded valve is enough. It is recommended to equip industrial premises with a patch valve. Installing a ventilation valve will help improve air exchange with the outside, reduce noise levels compared to an open window and prevent mold and mildew.
