How to sheathe a wooden ceiling. Wooden ceiling in the house: the choice of high-quality cladding and arrangement technology

Wood is considered one of the best finishing materials for a country house. It is environmentally friendly and safe for humans. It is for this reason that in the photo of modern interiors you can see the wooden ceiling in the house. Finishing work is easy to do with your own hands. This article will help you understand the question of which materials are best suited for these purposes, as well as choose the most optimal way to design the ceiling.

Wood, due to its low thermal conductivity, perfectly retains heat in the house, creating microclimatic conditions comfortable for living in the room. Finishing the ceiling with wood has other advantages, including high decorativeness, cozy atmosphere, and the natural smell of the material has a beneficial effect on the human body.

Ceiling design in wooden houses: photomodern interiors

There is a huge variety of finishing materials on the market. Therefore, consumers need more time to decide how to finish the ceiling in a wooden house. First of all, you need to consider the style of the room, as well as its functional purpose. In the living room and bedroom, the atmosphere should be relaxing, inviting to rest. The interior of the office, on the contrary, should stimulate a person to productive activity.

In modern interiors, you can often find white wooden ceilings. This color is considered universal and never goes out of style. The white shade is unobtrusive and airy, it gives the room a feeling of lightness and spaciousness. Such a solution is suitable not only for ceilings - it can also be used to decorate walls. White coloring looks equally good both in the bedroom and in the kitchen.

Useful advice! By painting the walls of the room in white, you can add visual volume to the space and visually expand the room. Contrasting or bright decor elements and accessories will help to dilute the monotony of the situation.

Despite the budget of the material, photos of ceilings in a wooden house made of lining look no less attractive. Slatted sheathing can be used to create a unique design. In addition, the owner of the house can change the color of the ceiling at any time in order to diversify and update the interior.

Thanks to modern technologies for processing raw materials, it is possible to make ceilings in a bathroom in a wooden house made of wood. High-quality impregnations protect the finish from the negative effects of high humidity, so the prohibitions on the use of natural materials in rooms with similar operating conditions have long been lifted. The main thing at the same time is to comply with all the rules and requirements of the installation technology, as well as determine the appropriate type of wood and select a tinting composition for it.

Making wooden ceilings in the interior: photos of rooms in different styles

Wood as a finishing and building material has found wide application. It is reliable and aesthetic, allows you to create a natural and at the same time modern design of the room. This material is versatile and easy to process, which is why you can often find photos of wooden ceilings in rooms decorated in different styles on the net.

Wood goes well with such design areas as:

  • chalet;

  • high tech;
  • country;
  • Japanese style;
  • modern.

Many styles have their own requirements for finishing, so deciding what to make the ceiling in a room is much easier. For example, high-tech style is based on a well-defined geometry. In this case, it is desirable to avoid strict boundaries. The presence of wood in such an interior is more of an urban character.

The existence of country style, on the contrary, is unthinkable without the use of wood as a finish. For these purposes, any type of material is suitable, starting with lining and panels, ending with a rough board. Even wooden wallpapers are used. In combination with natural stone, this finish will give the room respectability.

If the country is based on the use of natural materials, then the Art Nouveau style allows you to combine natural and artificial finishes in the interior. It is recommended to take wood as the basis for the design, with which you can decorate not only the ceilings in a private house, but also the walls, as well as the floors. The main thing is not to disturb the overall harmony of the room.

Useful advice! It is not necessary to sheathe the entire ceiling with wood. You can use beautiful designs made of this material, which will decorate the monotonous surface and bring harmony to the interior of the room.

The chalet style originated in France and Switzerland. Despite the simplicity of the wooden houses that are typical for this area, this direction is not without its charm.

To decide how to sheathe the ceiling in this case, it is enough to study the color scheme of the style, which includes the following shades:

  • burgundy;
  • Brown;
  • Red;
  • dark green.

The chalet style is based on the predominance of natural materials and shades, so it is better to refuse to use bright colors or use them with extreme caution. The same principles guide the direction of eco, whose palette should be as close as possible to natural. Adhering to one style, you can avoid abrupt transitions between functional areas.

The Japanese style is more exotic, although it is also in demand among decorators. The main finishing materials are stone and wood. Ceilings in this case should be given special attention. They can be sheathed with wooden panels or a board painted in a dark color.

How to make ceilingsin a wooden house: methods for organizing ceiling space

To avoid mistakes and unpleasant consequences in the future, when starting to organize the ceiling with your own hands, you need to carefully study its design. The ceiling part of the room is a multi-layer cake, each element of which performs a specific function.

Many are interested in the question of how to make a ceiling in a wooden house. To do this, follow the instructions below:

  1. Install covers.
  2. Arrange hydro and vapor barrier.
  3. Carry out the installation of the heater.
  4. Lay engineering communication systems (ventilation, lighting, communications).
  5. Perform interior decoration.

The use of wood as a building material for the construction of structures is accompanied by certain restrictions. This type of raw material does not fit well with some technologies. It is not recommended to load floors in a wooden house, so the ceiling should have a light structure. Given this requirement, not all finishing materials are suitable for work.

Note! Buildings made of wood do not always have the necessary conditions for using traditional finishes. To achieve a high-quality and reliable result, it is very important to adhere to the data in the project documentation. It is not recommended to neglect calculations and rely on decorativeness at the expense of strength.

Suspended and stretch ceilings in a wooden house: photo designs

The most common way to organize a ceiling space is to build a tensile or suspended structure. With these technologies, you can quickly form the ceiling inside the room. For the manufacture of the frame part, wood is most often used. On top of the finished structure, the installation of materials for finishing the ceilings is carried out. The result should be a solid coating.

These technologies differ only in the way the basis is organized. Suspended ceilings need a reliable and durable frame. As a base, you can use an old ceiling with wooden beams or rebuild the base from aluminum profiles. To install the tension structure, it is enough to install the frame only around the perimeter of the room. This option is more suitable for country houses and buildings, the attic and interfloor floors of which are not so strong.

For finishing suspended ceilings, you can use:

  • natural wood;
  • panels;
  • materials imitating wood.

The choice of finishes depends on the budgetary possibilities of the homeowner. To buy a wooden ceiling from a lining, you will have to spend more money than to purchase plastic panels that imitate this material. Natural wood is best used for finishing rooms with a small area, otherwise the costs will be high.

Wooden suspended ceilings greatly facilitate the process of installing the lighting system in the house. Wiring and other communications can be hidden in the free space inside the frame. This opens up a wide range of possibilities for organizing various options for artificial lighting. A stretched film or fabric coating completely hides all these elements. In addition, stretch ceilings in a wooden house can be made in any color scheme, so they will fit perfectly into any style of interior.

The use of a tension and suspension structure allows you to abandon such a laborious process as surface finishing. All defective and unattractive areas are simply hidden under the frame.

Important! It is advisable to install stretch ceilings in a house made of timber, especially if the building is new and shrinks. Due to the absence of a rigid frame over the entire surface, the tension of the fabric or film is maximized. Suspended structures are more acceptable for old wooden houses. This technology can be used to repair or renovate the premises.

False ceilings in a wooden house with beams: photos and features of the organization

If the room does not have the conditions for building a frame for arranging a suspended structure, you can file the ceiling along wooden beams. This technology is used in cases where the strength of interfloor floors is very low, which is typical for country and guest houses.

If the ceiling area is small, you can use plastic panels imitating natural wood or MDF boards as a finish. But in this case, you will have to first prepare a draft ceiling for sheathing on wooden beams.

In such a situation, two methods of finishing can be used:

  1. Beam ceilings are simply covered with MDF panels or plywood sheets.
  2. The space between the beams is used as one of the design elements.

Overlapping beams with sheet material and panels has its advantages. In this case, the lighting system can have any configuration. In addition, from the technical side, such ceilings are very convenient for laying communications. In free space, you can easily hide telephone, television, and Internet cables. The second option is less convenient in this respect. But in the photo, ceilings with wooden beams look much more spectacular.

For filing the ceiling in country houses, the following materials are usually used:

  • plywood;
  • plastic panels imitating a wooden surface;
  • MDF sheets.

With their help, you can safely and quickly hem the ceiling of the room. In this case, it becomes possible to get any color. This technology also has disadvantages. The design may turn out to be geometrically imperfect. Due to weak ceilings or irregularities on the walls, it will be more difficult to implement the project, and the procedure for filing the ceiling with a board will become completely non-rational.

Features of the organization of plasterboard ceilings in a wooden house

Drywall is especially popular in the consumer market. With the help of this material, you can realize the most daring and original projects.

The advantages of this method of finishing the ceiling:

  1. The material has an optimal level of air permeability, so you can forget about problems such as the accumulation of condensate. Plasterboard ceilings maintain a normal level of humidity in the room.
  2. Using this material, you can quickly and easily hide all the irregularities and defects of the ceiling base.
  3. Plasterboard sheets are great for masking utilities.

Like all other materials, drywall has its drawbacks. Firstly, the sheets cannot be fixed to the wooden ceiling of a frame house without additional preparation. For installation, you will need to build a frame of metal profiles. Secondly, drywall cannot be considered as the main option for finishing the ceiling in a wooden house. Be sure to use additional materials to create a finish coating.

Note! Over time, drywall structures can undergo deformation changes, so the durability of such sheathing is called into question.

Arrangement of wooden slatted ceilings in the house

To create a rack finish, you can purchase the material in finished form or order its manufacture at a sawmill. The choice of raw materials used for the production of this type of cladding is quite diverse. Each buyer will be able to choose a coating that will match his taste preferences and financial capabilities. Rack dimensions may vary.

Before constructing a ceiling from wooden slats, it is necessary to carefully examine the material. Wood must be treated with a stain, as well as compounds that provide it with fire-resistant properties. Sometimes a batch may come across low-quality parts with defects. To eliminate irregularities, it is enough to grind the lining.

Installation of rails is carried out on the crate. Screws or nails can be used as fixing elements. If the material is equipped with grooved joints, the assembly of the coating will be greatly simplified. It will be enough to dock all the elements together. After assembly, the rack ceiling must be treated with a varnish or water-based paint.

Useful advice! To save on the purchase of building material, you can give preference to standard wood species. These include aspen, elm and poplar.

How to sheathe the ceiling in a wooden house: requirements for sheathing and materials necessary for work

Before you go to the store to buy finishing material for the ceiling, you need to make sure that the sheathing will meet all the requirements.

The most important condition for creating a high-quality ceiling is safety. The result should be reliable and strong. In addition, the coating must comply with all fire safety regulations. It is not allowed to use materials that release hazardous or harmful substances into the air. Moreover, this requirement applies to finishes that are under normal operating conditions, as well as exposed to heat.

Durability is equally important when building a country house. The longer the ceiling retains its operational and technical characteristics, the less often there will be a need for repair or restoration. Particular attention should be paid to the decorative component. The materials that will be used as decoration for wooden ceilings in an apartment or house should be in harmony with other elements of the room, creating a unified design.

Since country houses can be used not only for seasonal, but also for permanent residence, the issue of heat preservation is extremely important. According to the laws of physics, thermal energy rises with heated air. Therefore, it is imperative to learn how to properly insulate the ceiling in a wooden house in order to reduce heating costs.

How to hem a ceiling on wooden beams: material selection

Natural wood is considered the most optimal finishing material for suburban housing. The construction market offers dozens of cladding options for ceilings in a wooden house with beams. The most budgetary of them is lining, the most expensive finish is considered to be natural wood. Therefore, the choice of material depends not only on personal preferences, but also on the financial capabilities of the homeowner.

If desired, you can combine different types of finishes to get a unique and one of a kind result. It is allowed to use plywood as a sheathing. Also, wooden ceilings in the interior can be decorated with lumber trim.

For these purposes, the following types of wood are used:

  • alder;
  • maple;
  • Birch tree;
  • cherries;
  • ash.

As a finish, wood belonging to coniferous species is also suitable. All these materials differ in color, texture and pattern.

Popular species of conifers:

  • larch;
  • cedar;
  • Pine;
  • fir.

Important! When choosing lumber for finishing ceilings, it is imperative to check the level of humidity. The maximum rate for natural wood raw materials is 16%. If you use wet material in your work, over time it will dry out and become very deformed.

Characteristics of lining ceilings: photo and material specificity

The lining is a board that goes through a special processing procedure. It is equipped with grooves and a longitudinal tongue, which greatly simplifies the installation process. This material is characterized by high strength, durability, environmental friendliness and excellent soundproofing properties. The lining is of natural origin, because the finish on the ceiling "breathes". In addition, the affordable price makes this type of material one of the most attractive options.

To finish the ceiling with clapboard, materials of various classes are used:

  1. Extra - high quality material that does not have defects in the form of bumps and knots. For the production of this lining, wood of expensive species is used.
  2. Class A and B - panels and rails have minor defects that do not affect the strength characteristics of the material.
  3. Class C - for the production of material, wood of inexpensive species is used, a large number of knots and irregularities are allowed. The lining of this class belongs to the most budgetary category.

In contrast to cheaper material options, Extra class eurolining is equipped with a high-quality locking structure. Design using this finish can be very diverse. If the lining is installed in the space between the beams, the ceiling can be divided into zones. To do this, it is enough to lay the material in different directions and choose a lining of a different shade for work.

In small rooms, it is better to lay the lining in one direction. In spacious rooms, it is not recommended to use this technique, since the interior will turn out to be too monotonous and boring.

Useful advice! To make the solid surface of the lining look interesting, the coating can be decorated with painting or carving. This design looks very elegant and is often used in old houses to create a colorful interior.

Features of finishing ceilings in a wooden house with plywood

Despite the fact that plywood is much less often used as a ceiling finish than other materials, it can be used to create an attractive design without additional costs. There are many varieties and types of plywood on the market. First of all, the sheets are classified according to the number of layers that have been glued together.

In addition, the material is divided into categories according to the following criteria:

  1. Grading - construction plywood of five grades can be used as facing.
  2. The degree of moisture resistance - this indicator will make itself felt at a time when the house is not heated, so the level of moisture resistance should be given special attention when choosing a material.
  3. Type of wood - The top layer of the plywood sheet is usually made from alder, birch or maple, softwoods are used for the production of medium levels.
  4. Processing method - if repairs are carried out in a country house, you can limit yourself to using raw plywood. If the room is operated year-round, it is better to give preference to sheets polished on one side only. Plywood is also on sale with double-sided grinding, but in this case there is no need for such material.
  5. Decorative qualities - plywood sheets can be decorated with plastic, asbestos paper, imitation wood pattern or pattern.

Before finishing the ceiling with plywood, you will have to build a crate structure from wooden slats or metal profiles. Sheet material is fixed to the frame with nails or self-tapping screws. After that, all joints are sealed with putty or masked with decorative strips. Plywood sheets are ideal for decorating ceilings in an attic room, although this material can also be used to decorate other rooms.

Useful advice! If you cover plywood sheets with laminate, the degree of moisture resistance of the coating will increase significantly.

The specifics of ceiling paneling: veneered elements and solid wood

The most prestigious finish is natural wood. It is made in the form of practical and convenient panels.

This type of material has many useful properties and characteristics:

  • long service life;
  • high margin of safety;
  • aesthetic appearance;
  • high quality, which directly depends on the selected type of wood;
  • simple and easy installation system thanks to the built-in locking system.

For the production of wooden panels for the ceiling, hardwoods are usually used, which have the necessary characteristics.

If buying a solid wood finish is not affordable, you can limit yourself to purchasing veneer-coated panels. These elements are made in the form of planks. From the outside, they are covered with a thin layer of natural veneer, which quite realistically imitates any type of wood. The range of such products is diverse and allows you to choose panels of any design or color. The cost of veneered coating is slightly higher than the price of lining, however, this finish has many more decorative options.

Painting a wooden ceilingand alfrey finish

Ceiling painting is called alfreine decoration. This type of design is currently used extremely rarely, but experts advise not to neglect this method of decorating ceilings.

Using alfrey painting, you can radically transform the appearance of the house, limiting yourself to small costs. Moreover, it is not at all necessary to paint the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe ceiling with patterns. Drawings can be located locally or around the perimeter, creating a specific design.

Alfray artistic decoration is performed in various ways:

  • trimming a pre-painted surface;
  • knurling a pattern with a roller;
  • pulling out panels;
  • stuffing patterns using stencils.

Note! Alfray finish is suitable for rooms with a classic design, stylized antique. Artistic painting is not recommended to be combined with modern design trends.

Average prices for alfrey painting

If you can't afford the alfrey finish, you can stop at a single-color ceiling painting.

wood ceiling painting price per square meter

Name of works Price, rub./m²
Water-based paint (single-layer coloring) 120
Water-based paint (two-layer coloring) 230
Water-based paint (three-layer coloring) 300

Several types of water-based dyes are used for wood processing:

  • silicone;
  • acrylic;

  • silicate;
  • mineral.

The exact cost of staining depends on the complexity of the work and the type of composition that will be used.

How to make a ceiling in a private housedo-it-yourself: installation and finishing technology

Before you make a ceiling in a wooden house, the base surface must be carefully prepared. To begin with, all structural elements are treated with antiseptic agents. In rooms with special operating conditions, moisture-proof impregnations are applied to the ceiling. These areas include the bath, kitchen and bathroom.

Additionally, wood should be treated with compounds that will prevent combustion. Such funds are applied both to the base and to the wooden finishing material. All these actions will not only increase safety, but also extend the life of the ceiling, as well as prevent its deformation and decay. Upon completion of the above work, you can begin to insulate the ceiling in a wooden house.

How to insulate the ceiling in a wooden house: features of the procedure

The method of insulation of the ceiling structure depends on the type of roof. If the house does not provide for an attic, the roof is insulated along the plane of the slopes. This is done in any case, regardless of what work was done from the outside.

To insulate the ceiling in a wooden house with your own hands, you must alternately install all layers:

  • waterproofing;
  • heat-insulating;
  • vapor barrier.

Useful advice! To save time and your own efforts, you can purchase insulation materials that mimic the "roofing pie". They include all the necessary layers. For insulation, you only need to fix this material in the cells of the crate structure.

The choice of material for thermal insulation depends on the operating conditions of the roof. If the slopes are formed by cuts set at a short distance from each other, the width of the insulation should be slightly larger than the width of the space between them. Thanks to this, the material can be laid freely over the entire plane.

If the elements of the truss system are installed at a great distance from each other, then to fix the insulation of the ceiling of a wooden house, it will be necessary to build a crate of beams. A layer of waterproofing material is preliminarily glued. For these purposes, a roll membrane is suitable.

How to choose the best ceiling insulation in a wooden house: a review of materials

Any heat insulator has both advantages and disadvantages. Possessing certain properties and characteristics, each of the materials is more or less suitable for thermal insulation work.

Comparative characteristics of materials for insulation

Material type Advantages disadvantages Thermal conductivity level, W/(mK)
Affordable price Subjected to burning, rotting and affected by fungi, vulnerable to rodents

Mineral wool

Does not burn, only melts when exposed to temperature, simple installation system Absorbs moisture well

Expanded clay

Non-combustible, environmentally friendly, simple installation system Thermal insulation properties are much worse than other materials, high weight
Under the influence of high temperature only melts, environmental friendliness, excellent thermal insulation properties Installation work requires the use of special equipment.

Styrofoam

Affordable price, high level of thermal insulation Exposed to combustion and at the same time releases harmful substances into the air, is afraid of rodents

Installation of heat and vapor barrier for a ceiling in a wooden floor

The process of insulation begins with leveling and cleaning the surface of the draft ceiling. Mineral wool in the form of rolls can be used as an insulator. Then a waterproofing film is fixed on the cleaned surface. To make the coating solid, sheets of waterproofing material are overlapped, and the overlapping points should be additionally glued with a special adhesive tape.

A frame is constructed on the surface of the ceiling for mounting the future finish of wooden ceilings. For the manufacture of crates, you can use a wooden beam or metal profile elements. Structural details are installed in such a way that the distance between them is 10-20 mm less than the width of the roll. Thanks to this, the insulation material will be securely held inside the frame. Rolled wool is placed in the space between profiles or wooden beams. The thickness of the insulation should not be less than 5 cm.

pay attention e! If several layers of mineral wool are used as insulation, the material should be staggered. This is done so that the material overlaps the joints of the previous layer.

To ensure high-quality sound insulation of the ceiling in a house with wooden floors, it is enough to exclude the contact of the beams with the walls. To do this, a layer of roofing material is laid between them. With this material, the ends of the beams are wrapped before the assembly of the structure.

How to finish the wooden ceiling in the house with your own hands

The installation of most finishing materials is carried out using almost the same technology. The difference lies only in what basis the sheathing will be attached to: on the crate or on the ceiling beams.

The assembly of the crate structure, designed to fix the skin, is carried out in different ways. It can be screwed directly to the base. Also, the structure can be lowered by about 10-15 cm. Suspensions are used for this. With their help, guides made of bars are attached. If the ceiling is sheathed with drywall, metal profiles can be used as guides.

The elements of the main frame are placed in increments of 0.7-1 m. The beams of the supporting crate can be installed more densely - every 0.4-0.5 m. fixed, you can proceed with the installation of the skin.

If lining is used as a finish for a wooden ceiling in a private house, then special clamps will be required to fix it. They are put on the spikes of the material, after which they are fixed on the crate using thin screws or nails. It is very important that the elements of the first row are installed evenly. Otherwise, the appearance of the coating will be damaged. If the crate is made of metal, then clamps in combination with self-tapping screws can be used as fasteners. At the final stage, skirting boards are installed, which give the ceiling a finished look.

Sheet material is also mounted on the crate. The joints between the plywood sheets should be puttied, after which a primer and a dye or varnish composition are applied to the coating. If wooden slabs are used as decoration, self-tapping screws must be used to fix them. Fastener hats are necessarily masked with the help of chopsticks, matched to the tone of the skin.

Today, buyers do not have any particular problems with the purchase of finishing materials. The installation of most of them is carried out according to a single scheme. If you first draw up a sketch of the future design, you can avoid mistakes and significantly reduce costs by finishing the ceiling yourself, without resorting to the help of specialists.

The relevance of the question: what to make a ceiling in a wooden house from, has only increased in recent years. Wood is the most accessible material, grateful for work, and does not emit harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Ceiling decoration with natural materials

A person who has built a house made of natural material with his own hands or with the help of professionals, in the majority also chooses to finish the ceiling with wood. There are several options:

  • rail;
  • lining (similar in nature to the first material, but has grooves and a tongue for installation);

For dwellings from a bar choose a laminate, a false bar.

Wooden lath is an environmentally friendly material. For the production of a slatted ceiling, wood species are applicable: elm, poplar, aspen, pine, oak. The finished product is finalized before installation: each element is sanded, burrs are removed, and irregularities are sealed with putty.

Upon completion, the ceiling is tinted with varnish to increase the durability of the wood.
The rack structure is attached according to certain algorithms:

  • Making a template on paper in full size.
  • Toning the rail, drying it before fixing it in place.
  • Mounting with hidden nails without caps.

In order to emphasize the rustic style, designers resort to imitation beams on the ceiling or ennoble the existing ones, complementing them with false elements.

If necessary, a frame is mounted according to a preliminary design, then decorative beams are installed on it. Sometimes, to facilitate the construction, the timber is not machined from solid wood, but is made up of several thin parts. The hollow version removes the load from the carriers, leaving the engineer's visual design unchanged.

An unedged board is made by sawing a log into pieces 25 mm thick, while the edges are left natural, uneven. In the decoration of the ceiling, products with the bark removed are used. In pallets, the material seems unsightly. Designers know how to skillfully insert it into an interior project, adding additional country-style charm to a country house.

To preserve the naturalness, the boards are not varnished, but before installation, each is impregnated with compounds that slow down the spread of fire during a fire and prevent swelling.

The cost of unedged boards varies depending on the type of wood. Coniferous wood is soft, its price is lower than hard, hardwood. But the latter will last much longer and is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity.

Refers to natural skin. They are based on vacuum-pressed wood dust. No glue, resin or other binder is used in the production of the board.

In appearance, they distinguish:

  1. Veneered MDF. A thin layer of natural wood is glued to the surface of the plate. Outwardly, the product is almost indistinguishable from a full-fledged array, it completely imitates the structure and color of wood.
  2. Laminated board. A synthetic film is glued to the base. The decor of the coating is diverse: wooden patterns, stone, plain colors, fantasy ornament.
  3. Painted MDF. At the factory, multi-layer paint is applied with a spray gun. Matte velvety surface adds sophistication to the interior of the room.
  4. MDF with paper foil. Outwardly, the variety is indistinguishable from a laminated board, but is significantly inferior in properties. Paper is not as strong as polymer, does not withstand a high percentage of humidity and is easily damaged.

The length of the MDF panel is 2.6 m, the width is 25, 23.8 and 56 cm.

The lining is a board with a groove and a tongue on the other side. The cheapness and availability of the method make lining a popular material. She shares:

  • standard;
  • euro lining.

The boards differ in the quality of processing, the depth of the groove and the class of environmental friendliness. It is important that there are small grooves on the reverse side that serve for proper air exchange.

Pros of wood finishes

  1. Preservation of the integrity of nature.
  2. No release of essential resins that adversely affect the human body.
  3. Naturalness and aesthetic warmth of the interior. Depending on the direction of laying the planks, the type of wood, the tinting varnishes, a unique picture of each ceiling is created.
  4. Moisture resistance. Impregnation with special compounds allows the material to breathe and at the same time reduces the risk of swelling from high humidity and temperature changes.
  5. Ease of care. Lacquered natural surfaces, unlike synthetic materials, do not attract dust; for cleanliness in the house, it is enough to pass over them with a slightly damp cloth without chemicals.

Particularly organically finished with clapboard or rail looks in a house with beams. They are not hidden under the skin, but organically fit into the overall concept of decor.

Photo of plywood ceiling

Plywood is the second most polar natural material for sheathing in a wooden house. It does not need varnishing and exudes a delicate forest aroma in the room. The product is made from thin layers of wood pressed into one sheet. In this regard, the ceiling does not move, like a lining or rail, when the house shrinks and abrupt climatic changes.

It has two undeniable advantages:

  • fast installation;
  • cheapness.

After sheathing plywood ceiling:

  • decorate with polystyrene plates;
  • or close the seams and leave in its natural form;
  • On the video of Internet channels there are videos that tell how to apply patterns, drawings, smoothing out the impression of the external simplicity of plywood sheets.

Covering with PVC panels is cheap, economical and fast. The product does not require painting and is sold in a wide range of colors. In the photo of construction companies, you can see a variety of panels and simple do-it-yourself installation life hacks. The range ranges from classic monochromatic options to imitation wood, textiles, and fantasy patterns.

Division of PVC:

  1. by type of top layer (gloss, matte);
  2. by texture (relief, smooth, indistinct volume);
  3. edge shape (straight, wave).

Slabs with a wave edge are called a seamless ceiling. Thanks to the ornate line and relief, the docking points are visually hidden.

The material is light in weight, easy to use. PVC panels are advised by professionals to novice builders, since their installation does not require high experience and skill in manufacturing. As noted above, the product must have a solid base, it is decorative, not load-bearing.

The stretch ceiling is universal and is used in living rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, on the terrace. The neutral color suits styles ranging from classic to urban.

The mount goes to an aluminum frame, mounted after the repair is completed. Depending on the manufacturer, the quality of the canvas differs. Before concluding a contract, read in detail about the substances emitted from the ceiling, the presence of odor after installation, the warranty period for work.

According to the type of ceilings are divided into:

  • glossy;
  • matte;
  • satin.

According to the type of base, they distinguish:

  • film;
  • fabric.

The latter are spectacular, more environmentally friendly.

Among the shortcomings of the fabric stretch ceiling, the high cost is noted.

Film is installed using a heat gun. Fabric fix the edges with wedges, cutting off the excess after installation. Seamless materials are impregnated with vinyl for resistance to external factors, which affects the cost.

The positive side of the stretch ceiling:

  • aesthetics;
  • surface smoothness;
  • simplicity and speed of installation;
  • neutral color palette.

But there are also negative aspects. With serious leaks, not all stretch ceilings can withstand large amounts of water. The latter accumulates in the ceilings and forms a kind of bag on the ceiling.

The ceiling, mounted with a gun, is allowed with a thickness of 0.2 mm. At the same time, it is able to hold about 100 liters of water per 1 sq. m. Inside, valves are built in to drain the liquid, and in case of leaks, the appearance of the ceiling does not change.

Aluminum slats, into the grooves of which decorative panels are inserted, are in demand in suburban construction. The rack system is equipped with adjustable suspensions, corners. Such a false ceiling is divided into 2 types:

Drywall belongs to a series of false ceilings. The name itself speaks of the structure. The material does not carry a functional load, but is only an aesthetic part of the design.

  • erection of a preliminary rack frame;
  • strengthening building sheets;
  • gluing seams with reinforcing tape;
  • puttying seams;
  • surface painting.

Important: the frame is constructed both from wooden slats and from a profile.

Considered to be a stronger option. Gypsum boards are used to design multi-level ceilings. The latter are used in design with a ceiling height of 2.5-2.6 meters.

This type of ceiling is ideal for uneven ceilings, with a large bevel. Of the shortcomings, the fragility of the material is noted. Builders recommend updating drywall elements once every 7-10 years.

Today, the installation of windows from the MOK company in Moscow is in great demand. We have a wide customer base and many positive reviews due to the excellent quality and reasonable price.

The main advantage of your own house built on a suburban area is the ability to independently choose materials for walls and coatings, create a layout at your own discretion and a variable design.

And a considerable number of people, having an almost limitless choice, prefer wooden houses. Why? Firstly, in recent years, suburban housing made of timber or log cabins has received a "second wind" and has again become relevant and fashionable. Secondly, wood as a material in itself has many advantages, the main of which are an attractive appearance and environmental friendliness. But, in addition to the material for the walls, the owner of the new cottage must choose what and how the ceiling will be finished.

ceiling finish requirements

First of all, you need to understand what requirements are placed on the ceiling in a wooden house and how you expect it (the ceiling) to be. There are not so many requirements, they cannot be called complex and difficult to fulfill. Let's get acquainted with them.

Ceiling preparation

Before finishing the ceiling, its surface must be prepared. First, the rough surface of the ceiling is treated with an antiseptic, which is necessary to protect the structure from decay, the appearance of fungi and mold. Treated wood will last much longer.

Important! If the antiseptic was applied during the construction of the house, then this step can be skipped.

The final stage of preparation is the installation of a heat-insulating layer. As the name implies, the task of thermal insulation is to minimize the leakage of air heated to room temperature from the house through the ceiling and roof. The effectiveness of thermal insulation largely depends on the material chosen.

Each of the heat insulators has its own advantages, disadvantages and features, but this is a topic for a separate article. The table below is an attempt to briefly review thermal insulation materials and their properties.

Table. Comparative characteristics of insulating materials for the ceiling.

Important! Please note that the lower the coefficient of thermal conductivity (expressed in watts divided by the multiplied meter and kelvin or W / (mK), for short), the better the thermal insulation qualities of a material.

For a better understanding of the last stage of preparing the ceiling for finishing, we will consider the process of thermal insulation using mineral wool rolls in stages.

  1. First you need to level and clean the surface of the draft ceiling.

  2. A waterproofing film is laid and fixed on the cleaned surface. The joints between the individual sheets are overlapped and sealed with adhesive tape made of waterproofing material.
  3. A crate is nailed to the ceiling, serving as a frame for the future insulation. It is made either from a wooden beam or from a metal profile. The distance between the elements of the crate should be 1-2 centimeters less than the width of the mineral wool roll - this is how reliable "adhesion" of the heat-insulating material with the frame is achieved.

  4. Mineral wool rolls are laid between wooden beams or steel profiles. The minimum layer thickness is 50 millimeters. If several layers of mineral wool are laid, the joints of the rolls of the first layer are overlapped by the next.

  5. The insulation layer and the crate are covered from above with a vapor barrier film.

Attention! If the thermal insulation crate is made of wooden beams, do not forget to treat it with antiseptic additives.

Only at the end of these works can you start finishing the ceiling in a wooden house.

Alternative option - external insulation of the ceiling

Most often, for a wooden private house, lining is used as a finishing material for the ceiling. It consists of planed boards, on one side of which there is a tongue (also called a ledge or ridge) and a groove. During installation, the board is inserted with a tongue into the groove of the previous one - this is how the elements are attached to each other.

Types of lining differ in the length and width of the boards, in the material from which they are made, in color and texture. There is even a lining stylized as a log cabin. This is the main advantage - a rich assortment from which you can always pick up something suitable for the interior.

But the advantages of lining do not end there.

  1. High sound insulation performance - in a room where the ceiling is lined with clapboard, walking and talking on the floor above will not be heard, especially if there is a heat-insulating layer.
  2. Durability - the lining treated with antiseptics, varnish or other coatings can last for many years without the need for replacement.
  3. The lining is ideally combined with wooden walls.
  4. Vapor permeability - due to the fact that the lining "breathes", excess moisture and condensate will not accumulate between it and the draft ceiling, which can reduce the life of the ceiling and reduce the effectiveness of the heat-insulating layer.

It should be understood that such a finish is not suitable for all rooms - in very large rooms, the lining seems very monotonous, boring. But there is an elegant way to solve this problem - the use of finishes from several colors. Thus, it is possible to divide the space of the room into several zones, which is especially important for the living room or common room. You can also diversify the ceiling with the help of carvings, paintings or patterns made on the lining before installation. Often, the material is artificially aged from the outside, thereby creating the atmosphere of an old and venerable mansion in the room.

Important! There is a subspecies of lining called eurolining. These are finishing boards manufactured in accordance with the DIN 68-126 standard. In most cases, it is distinguished by a higher quality of the surface, the execution of grooves and tongues.

Consider how the lining is mounted on the ceiling.

Step 1. The height is measured from the floor to the draft ceiling in all corners of the room. The corner with the smallest height is selected, 50 mm is measured down from it.

Step 2 With the help of a laser level or a marking thread, a frame location line is drawn from the point selected at the previous stage. Thus, the ceiling is as even as possible relative to the floor.

Step 3 A frame is created using a wooden beam of small section. Lathing lines are laid perpendicular to the location of the future finish. The interval between them is from 40 cm to half a meter, a distance of 10-15 cm should be observed between the wall and the beam. Before installation, the frame elements are treated with an antiseptic and fire retardant.

Step 4 If the lining boards are not painted or varnished, then appropriate coatings are applied to them.

Step 5 The lining is cut to the width of the room, but at the same time, a gap of 10-20 mm wide on each side should remain between it and the walls, so that swelling and deformation do not occur when the material expands under the influence of moisture.

We use a guide when cutting boards - a metal square

Step 6 The first board is attached to the frame with clamps, nails or screws. Ways of fastening the lining are shown in one of the figures below.

Step 7 The next board is installed, the tongue is inserted into the groove of the previous one. The lining should be carefully adjusted to each other, the use of a rubber mallet is acceptable.

Step 8 The previous step is repeated sequentially for all slats.

Prices for lining

Step 9 The last bar, if necessary, needs to be cut. In most cases, it is attached to the frame with nails hammered “along the oblique”.

Step 10 Compensation gaps between the lining and the walls are closed with a ceiling plinth.

wood veneer

An alternative to lining can be veneered panels - strips with locks for mounting and fastening, covered on the outside with veneer (a thin wooden sheet a few millimeters thick). Usually valuable types of wood are used for this material. The slight thickness of the veneer makes it possible to make an attractive and rich-looking finish for the ceiling, while being quite cheap.

The technology for installing veneered panels does not differ much from the methods of mounting the lining: the ceiling is marked, a crate is created, the first panel is attached to it with nails or self-tapping screws, the following finishing elements are connected to the previous ones using groove-thorn type “locks”.

Plywood

In everyday life, plywood is perceived as a cheap and not the most attractive material for finishing the ceiling. But there are such varieties of plywood that are not inferior in their aesthetics to lining or veneered panels, so it’s still worth considering how to install this material.

The main advantages of plywood are its low price and resistance to moisture (if the sheets have been properly processed and coated on the outside with a laminate). The laying technology is as follows.

Step 1. The ceiling is marked and a frame is created from a wooden beam. This stage is already described in more detail in. It is only worth mentioning that the distance between the elements of the crate should be several centimeters less than the width of the sheet so that the plywood can be nailed directly to the frame.

Step 2 A solid sheet of plywood is applied to the crate so that the edges are in the middle of the beam, which acts as a frame. Using screws or nails, plywood is first fixed in the corners, then around the entire perimeter in increments of 20-25 cm.

Prices for plywood sheets

Step 3 The remaining sheets are stacked sequentially in the same way.

Step 4 The process is completed by laying plywood scraps along the edges near the walls.

Step 5 The joints between the sheets are sealed with decorative overlays - or.

Important! Remember that the area of a single sheet of plywood is large, so the laying should be done with the assistance of assistants.

natural wood

The flooring of planed boards from precious woods goes well with most interiors. To create an atmosphere of a country house, adding "naturalness", the finish is complemented by a surface flooring made of slab or obapol - a board that is only partially planed.

The technology of laying boards repeats the method of creating a hemmed ceiling in a bathhouse or a barn - first, beams from a large-section beam are mounted at the construction stage. Then boards are hemmed from below, fixed with self-tapping screws and carefully fitted to each other with minimal gaps. Both the boards and the ceiling frame are treated with protective compounds before installation, and after installation, the ceiling is covered with various types of varnish.

Another addition to the natural wood ceiling finish is the ceiling beams. But you should think about this in advance, since cutouts in the wall for their installation are made at the construction stage. The beams are treated with compounds that protect the wood from decay, varnished and sometimes artificially aged.

Advice! If you do not want to make cutouts in the wall and install heavy beams, but you want to see them under the ceiling, then you can use false beams that are made of wood or plastic and are hollow inside. They are significantly lighter and easier to work with than with solid timber.

Drywall

Drywall is a “layer cake”, where on the outside there are sheets of thick cardboard, and inside there is a solid composition based on gypsum with the addition of various fillers and additives. This is a very convenient finishing material, so it can be used to make multi-level ceilings suitable for spacious rooms. In addition, it is most convenient to install spotlights in plasterboard that can emphasize the features of your interior and highlight important areas in the room.

Drywall prices

drywall

Installation of a plasterboard ceiling in a wooden house is as follows:

  1. A frame made of metal profiles of the UD- and CD types is laid on the crate of the heat-insulating layer. Frame elements should be placed perpendicular to the wooden crate. Between the wall and the metal profile, it is desirable to leave a compensation gap of 10-15 millimeters, so that during shrinkage and other movements of the ceiling, drywall deflections do not occur.

  2. Using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver, drywall sheets are fixed on a steel profile.

    We do ceiling tiles. We fix the sheet as in the figure, stepping back 2 mm from the walls

    Between the sheets the same technological gap is 2 mm

    Following this principle, we install the remaining sheets

  3. The joints between the sheets should be puttied. How this is done is described in detail in.

  4. Drywall finishing in progress. It can be embossed plaster, paint, ceiling tiles or wallpaper.

Advice! If you plan to install spotlights, then first mark the places of their future location, mount the wiring there, and before laying the drywall, make cutouts for the lighting fixtures in the sheets.

Stretch ceiling

Stretch ceiling - a fabric made of polymer fabric or polyvinyl chloride, fixed with a frame made of plastic or aluminum profile. This type of finish is especially well suited for newly erected log houses, where over the next couple of years, shrinkage of the floors will be observed, which makes it impossible to paint or plaster.

In addition, the stretch ceiling can be made multi-level by combining it with drywall sheets. But such a ceiling has a drawback - the height of the room is significantly reduced.

Remember that the ceiling finish will turn out to be beautiful and durable only if the installation technologies are carefully observed. We hope that this article will help you choose the most suitable method.

Wooden houses are becoming today one of the main elements of private housing construction. Due to the availability of materials and the rapid pace of construction of the object, the consumer is increasingly paying attention to housing built of wood. Moreover, wood is a very convenient and practical material that allows you to create capital and original residential buildings in kind.

The mass construction of wooden housing causes an increased demand for existing technologies for interior decoration of wooden structures. If there are no special questions regarding the installation of the main structural elements of the building, everything is done according to a well-tested, tested scheme, then installing a ceiling in a wooden house is a rather difficult task. In the process of finishing the ceiling part, several issues have to be addressed at once. We are talking about creating a durable and reliable ceiling, while giving the ceilings the necessary aesthetic qualities. What to do in this case, and which ceiling should be used in wooden houses, we will understand in more detail.

The specifics and nuances of ceilings in a wooden residential building

A wooden house today is no longer a temporary building, used seasonally as a shelter or as a shelter. Most of the projects are a capital structure, characterized by strength and reliability. You can already live in such houses all year round, and in terms of comfort, such housing is not inferior to stone buildings. Thanks to the peculiarities of construction wood, it is possible to create the most fantastic projects of residential buildings, country houses and country houses, including the use of a variety of interior finishes.

If a standard project is used, there are no particular difficulties with the installation of the ceiling structure. However, in some cases, the construction of housing is carried out on our own and we have to mount the ceiling in our wooden house on our own, with our own hands. Here it is important to choose the right type of ceiling and use those finishing materials that are best suited in this case. The chosen technology and the sequence of work determine what the ceiling will be in the house.

On a note: wooden buildings do not always allow the use of traditional finishing materials to work with the ceiling. To achieve the desired result, it is important to rely on the project documentation, without neglecting the calculated data. In the process of finishing the ceiling, to the detriment of the strength and reliability of the structure, you should not rely on beauty and aesthetics.

In order to avoid negative moments in the future, it is necessary to have an idea about the design of ceilings designed for installation in wooden houses. To be precise, the ceiling part is a layered cake in which each layer plays a role. During installation, you have to perform the work step by step:

  • floor equipment;
  • arrangement of steam and waterproofing;
  • installation of a thermal insulation layer;
  • laying the necessary engineering communications (lighting, ventilation and communications);
  • interior decoration of the ceiling structure.

What are the finishing options?

The use of wood as the main structural material of a residential building imposes certain restrictions on the use of certain technologies. The main condition that should be followed in the process of work is that the ceiling in a wooden house should be a light structure that does not create additional load on the floors. Accordingly, certain finishing materials are taken for work.

The most suitable in this case are the following options for finishing the ceilings:

  1. stretch ceilings, using a film;
  2. overhead plastic panels;
  3. MDF panels;
  4. timber cladding.

In each case, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of the interior and the overall level of isolation of the interior space of the entire building. Each option is better or worse for a particular situation.

For example: for residential premises it is not always correct to use stretch ceilings made of synthetic film. The lack of natural air exchange can cause the formation of stale and stale air inside the rooms. This option is suitable for the bathroom or kitchen.

Plastic panels in the tone of natural wood are perfect for finishing the ceiling of living rooms. This option is usually used when it is necessary to observe all the subtleties and nuances of the interior style. The ceiling in a wooden house using MDF panels is the easiest and most convenient way to finish. The only negative is that such a ceiling is very afraid of water. When working with MDF, it is necessary to carefully approach the solution of the issue of waterproofing ceilings. For the installation of ceilings in a new building or during the reconstruction of old buildings, it is very convenient to use the decoration of the ceiling part with natural wood. Often, wood-based finishing materials are used. It can be veneered panels, lining or laminate.

Important! You should not use such a favorite material as drywall for mounting ceilings in wooden buildings. Wooden buildings always shrink over time, which can naturally affect the quality of the ceiling part, sewn up with plasterboard slabs.

Plastic panels should not be massively used for finishing ceilings throughout the house. The appearance of the interior in this case leaves much to be desired. In addition, plastic is combustible and is capable of releasing toxic components into the internal atmosphere when heated. It is not recommended to use artificial synthetic materials in wooden residential buildings. The main advantage of a wooden house is environmental friendliness, so everything in the house must meet this criterion.

Varieties of ceilings for wooden houses

Usually in practice, a variety of options are used for finishing ceilings. In most cases, consumers try to achieve the maximum effect by investing a minimum of funds. The interior is the determining factor that must be taken into account when choosing one or another option for finishing the ceiling in a residential building.

Suspended and tension structures

If you are interested in how to make a ceiling in a wooden house, use the most common method. These are well-known to us, suspended or tension structures. We are all used to the fact that due to suspended ceilings or a stretched film, you can quickly decorate the ceiling inside the room. Wood or other lightweight material is usually used to create the frame. Elements of the future coating are mounted on the already assembled structure, eventually creating a solid canvas. Fast, beautiful and convenient!

The only difference in both cases is the difference in the suspension part. For a suspended ceiling, you must first install a strong and reliable frame on the basis. You can use beam structures or make an additional new, aluminum frame.

In the case of a stretch ceiling surface, a frame is used that is mounted only around the perimeter of the room. This option is very convenient for country houses, buildings that do not differ in the special strength of interfloor and attic floors.

For suspended ceilings, you can use natural wood, panels that imitate wooden parts and elements. Here attention is drawn to the cost of materials.

On a note: natural wood (lining) is an order of magnitude more expensive than plastic panels finished in wood. Wood can be used in small spaces. Otherwise, the interior decoration of the house with natural wood, including the ceiling, will become a costly undertaking.

From an environmental point of view, a tree looks preferable, but the cost ultimately plays a key role. The ceiling mainly plays an aesthetic role, so it is not advisable to invest heavily in its equipment.

Thanks to the installation of false ceilings, you can easily solve the problem of organizing lighting in the house. Electrical wiring and other communications fit perfectly into the free space, allowing you to use a wide variety of artificial lighting options. The stretched fabric or film provides a large closure area. In addition, the tension surface can be chosen in any color scheme, perfectly complementing the interior of the living space.

Important! Provided that a new wooden house usually shrinks, it is best to use stretch ceilings. The absence of a rigid frame will allow you to achieve maximum fabric tension. Suspended ceilings are perfect for old wooden houses, which can be reconstructed and repaired.

Due to suspended and tension structures, troublesome work on fine-tuning the main surface can be avoided. A false ceiling is able to hide all technological defects and unsightly places on the ceiling.

False ceilings and plastic panels

If it is not technologically possible to build a frame for suspended structures, you have to be content with little. Usually in summer cottages, in guest houses, where the strength of interfloor floors is limited, they are used.

In a small area, plastic panels or MDF boards look great. However, in this case, preliminary work with the main surface will be required. In this situation, you can use two options for finishing the ceiling:

  • covering beam ceilings with sheets of plywood or MDF;
  • using interbeam space as an element of interior design.

The first option is convenient because it allows you to solve problems by equipping lighting zones in any configuration. The technical possibility of such ceilings for laying communication systems will not be superfluous. Television or telephone cable, the Internet are perfectly hidden in free space. The second option significantly limits the possible solutions in such situations.

For summer cottages, a false ceiling is usually used. Using ready-made plastic panels, plywood or MDF sheets, you can quickly and reliably sew up the ceiling part. Almost any color options are possible here. Plastic panels can have a certain pattern, designed in the style of the entire room.

A significant disadvantage of this design is non-observance of geometric shapes. Wall irregularities in wooden buildings of this type, weak ceilings become an obstacle to the rapid implementation of the plan.

Conclusion

The finishing materials and technologies that exist today make it enough to make a choice of what it should be. Much depends on the type of building itself, how the technological parameters of the building meet the requirements and tasks. It is very convenient to use stretch ceilings for large buildings. The desired effect is achieved. Easy installation and great looks. Wooden suspended structures are considered a capital option. It is appropriate to talk about finishing wood ceilings in large, massive buildings, when the strength of the structure and financial costs are not worried.

In most cases, combined ceiling options are used in wooden residential buildings. In large rooms, it is better to use frame suspended ceilings or pay attention to the hemmed finish option. For small rooms, stretch ceilings and wood trim are actively used. When choosing materials and options for finishing the ceiling, one should not forget about environmental friendliness. It is important to achieve not only a beautiful aesthetic perception and strength of the ceiling structure, but also to obtain a functional ceiling that provides a good indoor climate.

Fashionable and environmentally friendly wooden houses are especially in demand today: with the greatest variety of design proposals and finishing materials, log cabins are sheathed in any desired style. But finishing the ceiling of a wooden house with plasterboard greatly expands the possibilities and guarantees its beauty and durability.

The walls of wooden houses are often still left in their original form - log and timber. Moreover, the obligatory finishing of the ceiling in a wooden house must certainly be in harmony with these wooden walls and the general architectural concept of the house.

Finishing materials

Plaster

You can make a light, classic, even and white ceiling in different ways, and now there are plenty of materials for such an effect. Previously, plastering was done: a special grid of shingles was stuffed onto a beamed wooden floor (these are thin wooden slats 3 mm thick).

Then, plaster was applied to the resulting relief grid, which firmly adhered to the shingles and did not lag behind, did not even crack.

This method is often used now, and in modern homes. But much more efficient and faster technologies have appeared, giving a much better result than simple and time-consuming plastering.

Drywall

The most high-quality and advanced method - plasterboard ceiling lining

Advantages:

  • This material is almost indispensable when it is necessary to make a ceiling in two or more levels, as well as to realize a beautiful, but complex design project with intricate designs.
  • The unique property of drywall when wet, to be pliable like clay, and when dry, to become absolutely durable - this is a real find for designers.
  • On the metal one, which does not depend on the deformations of the wooden base, the crate is screwed.
  • With proper observance of technology, our ceiling will stand for many years and will require only periodic tinting at our request.

Note!

It would be a mistake to screw drywall sheets directly to the sub-ceiling or joists: drywall sheathing requires a special suspended metal structure, just like a suspended ceiling.

Wood

It is logical to finish the ceiling in a wooden house with wood - the most suitable material

Ceilings with wood are very naturally combined with the interior of the house: it gives the room completeness and unites all its details.

The choice of specific materials for finishing is quite large and depends on the desired result. Among them are wooden "lining", panels made of solid wood or veneer. By the way, the latter outwardly do not differ at all from valuable wood species.

clapboard

Clapboard - traditional ceiling decoration in log cabins, time-tested

This is a processed board with a groove and tongue. Eurolining and its varieties are also available in different sizes, but with a different lock design - there are deeper grooves for connection than a simple lining.

Advantages:

  • The most suitable option: the load-bearing structures made of wood and the sheathed ceiling are ideally combined.
  • According to professionals, only it fully meets the requirements of strength, durability, sound insulation, heat transfer and aesthetics.
  • A wooden house finished with clapboard has a valuable property: the sheathed surface “breathes”, and the eurolining has special ventilation grooves on the back side that easily remove condensate.

Veneered panels

Experts advise how to finish the ceiling in a wooden house: with unique veneer panels.

  • They cost a little more than lining, but are easy to install and cause well-deserved admiration.
  • Panels covered with veneer imitate any valuable wood species.
  • Their selection is rich in color and size.
  • A house made of logs or timber with such a ceiling will always look significant and rich.
  • The lock connection, like that of a lining, will allow us to sheathe the ceiling on our own and quickly, without even having special skills.

Solid ceiling

Advantages:

  • These expensive prestigious panels are distinguished by beauty, high quality material, excellent characteristics (strength, durability).
  • They are made from the finest deciduous trees, perfectly suited to building requirements.
  • Their installation is easy and fast enough - this is a simple hemming of the draft ceiling.

Embossed embossed ceiling

Advantages:

  • Embossed hemmed ceilings are attached directly to the bases, and not to special structures.
    This greatly simplifies the mounting process: we mount chopped beams, which have a peculiar wood structure and are processed by hand, directly on the old ceiling.
  • The overall impression of such a ceiling is admiration, especially if we use wooden blocks of different breeds and different tones. So we will create a unique ornament on the ceiling.

The bars polished on the machine and varnished look beautiful.

Finish options

Ceiling finish options are countless:

  • A modern, comfortable and easy-to-clean plastic ceiling with an abundance of colors and textures will harmoniously fit into any style.
  • You can simply paint or varnish the existing wooden ceiling. First you need to carefully process it with a skin.
  • If it is very difficult to grind the installed ones to finish - we just sew them, but we attach an amazing imitation to the surface - light polyurethane foam false beams. They are indistinguishable from the real ones.

The contrast of colors is extremely effective: on a bright light background - expressive dark beams

  • An original and compromise solution: leave uncovered wooden beams around the perimeter of the plasterboard ceiling.
    Plasterboard suspended ceilings can be decorated with decorative beams not only made of wood, but also made of plastic - a high-quality imitation of logs.

  • A stretch ceiling for a new log house, which inevitably shrinks during the year, which does not allow any finishing all this time, is certainly the best universal option.
    Only a stretch ceiling will allow you to move into the house immediately after construction.

Numerous examples of original and comfortable ceilings in a wooden house, where everything is subject to a unique style and comfort, are widely presented on the video. The choice is up to the owners of wonderful wooden mansions!
