Finding a secure front door can be challenging, as it often involves dealing with a price versus quality dilemma. The safety of not only the property, but also the owners of the premises depends on the correct choice of design.

First, you need to decide on the material of the door. In the modern world, wood will not provide adequate protection, so there is only one choice - metal. Finishing is a matter of taste, but do not forget that the door will become a kind of "visiting card" of the home. Examine the photos of the entrance doors so as not to miscalculate with the appearance.

Secondly, a good door will provide sound and heat insulation, which is especially important in northern latitudes.

Entrance door construction

When selecting safety characteristics, one can be guided by the principle “the more, the better”, but this can lead to an unjustified increase in the price and weight of the structure. Also pay attention to the ratings of manufacturers of entrance doors in your price segment.

The door frame is made in one piece, including a threshold, or U-shaped without it. The sillless design provides a lower level of protection and is used in economy class doors.

The metal part made of cold-rolled steel is more expensive than hot-rolled steel, but of higher quality: the structure is durable, light and strong.

A steel corner door is the cheapest option, but it is easily deformed. In a private house or entrance without an intercom, this option is the last thing worth looking at.

A square profile with stiffeners and at least 2 mm steel sheet will provide higher strength. This design can be installed in a private house.

The door leaf must be made of steel sheet with a thickness of more than 1.8 mm. Buying a door that is too thin is not in your interests, no matter how tempting the price may seem: opening it is as easy as shelling pears.

A quality door necessarily has vertical and horizontal stiffeners. Insulation is laid between them. The more ribs, the better, but this will affect the weight of the structure. They must be evenly distributed to ensure proper reliability.

Hinges

The choice is between overhead hinges mounted on the outside and internal hinges installed inside the frame.

The first type must necessarily provide for anti-removable crossbars, which prevent the door from being removed even when the hinges are cut off.

Hidden hinges cannot be cut or unscrewed and cannot be seen from the outside. Unfortunately, there is a chance of a wedge, and then even the landlord will not be able to get home.

Hinges for heavy, massive doors should have support bearings to facilitate opening and closing.

Locks

The use of two locks of different designs at once: lever and cylinder locks will significantly increase the reliability. One of the advantages of this approach is that in case of breakage of one lock, you can temporarily use the other. If possible, supply an individually made lock.

When installing the front door, make sure that the crab-type lever lock is correctly installed - otherwise it may jam.

The cylinder lock should be additionally reinforced with an armored pad. If the design implies a heck from the inside, this is another layer of protection.

An important point: the locks should not be closer than 25 cm to each other in order to minimize the chances of simultaneous cutting with a grinder.

Seals

They provide heat and sound insulation, as well as protection from odors. Doors equipped with seals adhere more tightly to the vestibule and close more quietly.

Rubber is not without reason considered the best material: it is durable, hardy, withstands various influences. If necessary, the seal can be easily replaced with another one. Fixation takes place on an adhesive strip.

Some magnetic seals attract too much, which can make it difficult to open the door.

In an apartment building, one layer is enough, in a private one, at least two are needed to protect from the cold.

Heaters

Typically, foam, polyurethane foam and mineral wool are used. It should fit snugly against the ribs and frame. The cavities of the metal profiles are also insulated.

In a private house, polyurethane foam will cope better with the role of insulation, in an apartment - basalt wool. Polyfoam is usually used in conjunction with polyurethane foam, which is used to fill the resulting gaps.

Price segment

Of course, not everyone can afford an option that fully meets all the requirements. We offer you to figure out how to choose an entrance door in different price categories.

Economy

Low-end models, as a rule, are made in China, but also come from a domestic manufacturer. The price varies between 7-10 thousand rubles.

The design provides for one sheet of steel up to 1 mm thick with a door leaf thickness of 6-7 cm. Stiffeners do not include additional reinforcements. Finishes are made of MDF or plywood. They can provide an attractive appearance, but the security of such a door is rather questionable.

Average

The price can be 10-20 thousand rubles. Together with the cost, the quality of the construction also increases. The door of the middle segment has a better protective function.

Includes 2 sheets of steel more than a millimeter thick, the canvas itself is more than 8 cm. There are additional seals and thermal insulation. Locks are equipped with anti-tampering protection. You can choose a finish from a much larger number of options.

Upper

The next price segment includes doors costing from 20 to 30 thousand. They provide maximum safety and reliability. They can be called the best front doors to an apartment.

Door locks receive enhanced protection, there are anti-removable hinges and additional stiffeners. With a blade thickness of 8-10 cm, steel sheets up to 2 mm are used. Good noise and heat insulation is sure to be present.

Elite

This category includes doors over 30,000 and custom-made. Their main difference from the doors of the upper segment is a better finish made of natural wood or stone, the presence of forging.

This also includes armored doors, the thickness of steel in which can reach 5 mm. They will withstand even a strong blow.

Some models have the ability to operate using the remote control.

Photos of the entrance doors to the apartment

Doors are the main component of the interior

The interior of the room is an important component, the choice of which should be taken very carefully. Optimally selected colors in harmony with the rest of the interior details are the key to a comfortable and cozy atmosphere in the house. The door is of great importance, which must be correctly selected. This is the first moment that the visitor's gaze falls upon when entering a room, residential, office or any other room.

Doors Cabinetmaker - the standard of quality

Changing the interior of an apartment or house during repairs, as a rule, implies the introduction of significant changes, but some owners limit themselves to cosmetic work. In both cases, the doors are replaced. Their installation is an important and responsible part of the repair work, therefore it is recommended to carefully select options in advance, focusing on quality characteristics. A worthy solution to the modern market is cabinetry doors.

Classification of wooden doors

There are several classifications of wooden interior doors according to the following criteria:
  • by coating materials;
  • by internal filling;
  • by the method of glass fixing;
  • by the way of opening;
  • by the number of valves;
  • for filling the door leaf.

Let's take a closer look at each classification in order to understand what types of doors exist. This will help you make your choice.

Types of doors by coating materials

1. Veneered

Veneered doors are called doors, the base of which is a door leaf made of an inexpensive natural wood (for example, pine) with a thin layer of coating made of valuable wood.

Thanks to modern technology, the veneer thickness ranges from 0.4 to 1 mm. A thin veneer sheet is glued to the door leaf evenly and without drops. The perfect finish gives the impression that the door is entirely made of precious wood. This is the method of covering the door leaf that Varadoor uses.

2. Laminated

Laminated doors are called doors, the basis of which is a door leaf made of an inexpensive wood species (most often pine), covered with a laminate on top. Laminate is a plastic film that is painted and decorated to imitate a wide variety of wood species. Any material can form the basis of the laminate. This film is cheaper than veneer due to the fact that it is less wear-resistant. In addition, veneer is a natural and environmentally friendly material, unlike laminate.

Types of doors by internal filling

1. From an array

Solid wood doors are classics of the genre. Such doors can be completely made of valuable wood (cherry, oak, ash, beech) or from an inexpensive wood (for example, pine). Solid wood doors are the most expensive.

2. Wireframe

Frame doors consist of a frame (it is made of wooden beams), covered on 2 sides with MDF plates. Compressed cardboard honeycombs are placed inside such a door. They fill the cavities, allowing the door to "breathe" and making it significantly lighter in weight.

3. Molded

Molded doors are doors, the leaf of which consists of a single large glass and molded parts that frame the glass on the right and left.

Types of doors by the method of glass fixing

1. Overhead baguette

For baguette doors, the glass is fastened with a special frame made of wood - a baguette. This strip frames the glass and the infill.

2. Insert into the door leaf

For these models, the glass is inserted and glued into the groove of the door leaf.

Types of doors by opening method

1. Swing

Swing doors are the most common doors that are most commonly used in living spaces. Such doors can be torn off in one or both directions. An important point - when choosing swing doors, you must take into account that you will have to leave free space for opening.

2. Sliding

Sliding doors can consist of one leaf - in this case, they are sliding, or of two leaves - in this case, they are a sliding structure. The door leaves move parallel to the wall or slide into the wall cavity. Such doors can be mounted on the lower or upper rail, as well as on both at once.

Varadoor doors can be either swing or sliding. The choice of one or another option directly depends on the fittings to be installed.

Types of doors by the number of leaves

Depending on the number of leaves, there are single-leaf (single-leaf) and double-leaf (double-leaf) doors. The width of the doorway determines the number of leaves. As a rule, it is necessary to install an additional locking element on double-leaf or double-leaf doors - a false lath or bolt.

Any door model from Varadoor can be ordered as a single-leaf or double-leaf.

Types of doors for filling the door leaf

1. Deaf

These are doors, the construction of which is entirely made of wood, there are no glass inserts in them. Most often, blind doors are installed in bedrooms and bathrooms.

2. Glazed

These are doors with glass in their construction. The glass insert can be decorated and decorated in various ways. Such doors are more often chosen for kitchens and living rooms. They visually expand the boundaries of the room and transmit light perfectly.

Each door from Varadoor is available both in a solid version and with a glass insert.

What is the door made of?

Door care

Proper door care is needed not only to maintain its external beauty, but also to extend its service life.

Door care products
An interior wooden door requires a careful attitude towards itself. To keep the door looking good, use special wood care products. There is a wide variety of detergents on the market today. But when buying, pay attention to the composition: there should be no acids, alkalis and solvents - from them the varnish - the protective layer with which we cover the wood - can deteriorate.

It is quite easy to clean the door even without specialized tools. At home, you can make a "folk remedy" yourself. His recipe is simple: you need to mix tap water with alcohol in a ratio of 90% to 10%, respectively, and moisten a rag in it. After cleaning with the solution, remove the remaining liquid from the door surface with a dry cloth. And additionally apply polish on the lacquered doors.

If there is no folk remedy at hand, you can wipe the dust from the door with an ordinary damp cloth. Then you need to walk over the surface with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture - this way there will be no streaks. Pay special attention to the bottom of the door unit. When carrying out wet cleaning, this part suffers greatly from moisture.

If your house has glazed doors, start cleaning from dust with glass. Wipe the glass with a damp cloth, then dry. After that, start cleaning the door leaf.

Remember: even if the room is clean, you need to polish the wooden door at least once a year. Then the door will sparkle clean and look like new.

Care Tips
Wood is a living material, so certain operating conditions must be observed if you want the door to retain its characteristics.

  • Insulate the door from moisture

The room humidity should be kept within 40-60%.

  • Avoid mechanical damage

If you notice a scratch on the door surface, you can repair it yourself. To do this, moisten the scratch with a damp cloth, then sand with fine sandpaper and polish with wax. The defect will not be visible and the crack will not grow.

If you are planning a renovation in the apartment, take care of the doors: cover them with a cloth or film so that dust and construction debris do not fall on the tree.

Do not place heaters next to a wooden door. Excessive heat can expand the tree and deform the door.

Every 2-3 years, you need to do a little preventive maintenance: lubricate the hinges and locks, re-adjust them.

If you take care of wooden doors and follow at least the simplest recommendations, they will serve you for more than a dozen years.

Glazing

When inserts from the stack are added to the door array, the door “comes to life”. In any model we offer there is a variant with glass.

We emphasize the beauty of wood with the help of laminated glass - triplex or different glass processing techniques: fusing, stained glass, painting, engraving and sandblasting.

Varadoor has a glass division. All types of glass processing - from cutting to painting - we carry out in our own factory, using only high-quality glass.

Figured glass cutting
For cutting glass Varadoor uses an automatic cutting table for straight and figured cutting of the Italian company "Bavelloni". This machine allows you to load the sheet without interrupting the cutting cycle. Cutting of high complexity and precision is possible on it. Any figures: from a square to an oval, with a minimum discrepancy in size - only 0.02 mm per meter. This machine is very accurate.

The machine consists of three elements:
1) pyramid-warehouse, allowing to work with four types of glass;
2) self-loading cutting table;
3)
glass breaking table with unloading levers.
The supplied glass is loaded onto the pyramid warehouse. The manipulator takes sheets of glass and places them on the cutting table. The process is automated so that no glass is scratched or broken during unloading. Varadoor takes care of the safety of every leaf. After the sheet has acquired the desired shape, from the cutting table, it smoothly moves on an air cushion towards the operator. There, excess pieces are cut off from the glass. Then it is loaded onto the rack.

Varadoor uses special equipment to create a facet on glass. A facet is a thin, angled cut on the face of the glass. If you wish, you can make it matte or regular, straight or curly, with the desired angle of inclination. Facet width - from 10 to 60 mm.

Glass with beveled edges is often used in interiors of different styles. Facet is a fairly simple procedure, but it gives the glass a perfection and at the same time unobtrusively fits into any design.

Fusing is the technique of sintering or fusing layers of glass. It would seem that glass is an ordinary solid material. But it is worth bringing it to a certain temperature, it becomes flexible and pliable. As a result, glass takes on any intricate shapes and outlines, acquires a relief.

This is helped by a machine - a special oven for baking glass with a temperature of 800 ° C. In it, the master puts the cut out blanks in even rows. Under artificial heat, evenly distributed over the work surface, the glass languishes for two hours.

Layers of glass are sintered to a homogeneous mass, they literally melt into each other. After that, we already get squares covered with multi-colored granules, droplets, buttons, leaves - all these are just some examples of fusing options with which we decorate doors.

You look at some of the products, and you don't believe that it is just glass.

Triplex is a laminated glass. There is a special film between several layers of glass. The color of the film can be of any color.

To prevent dust from getting on the glass, the triplex is collected on a special table in a perfectly clean room.

After all layers of glass are washed and dried, they are sent to the colander. This is a crimping oven that "glues" layers under the influence of temperature.

Glass is the main material for triplex. But you can add anything you want to it. Cloth, metal plates and even polymers can be baked between two layers of glass. Anything that fantasy draws.

Triplex glass turns out to be not only beautiful, but also incredibly durable. It is very difficult to break it. Moreover, the glass fragments will not scatter - they will be held by the film.

Stained glass
Stained glass is a decoration technique using pieces of colored glass. Once upon a time, stained glass windows were only used to decorate palaces and temples. Now we can afford to decorate the house with stained-glass windows.

There are several stained glass techniques. We make stained glass using self-adhesive stained glass film. On the glass-base, the designer creates a drawing according to a template. (Drawings on white or black glasses look the most advantageous). Cuts out pieces of self-adhesive tape and fixes them on the desired pieces. To avoid air bubbles in the drawing, the designer runs a roller over its surface several times. Then the excess pieces of film are cut off, and the boundaries of the fragments are separated using film pits. A golden or silver film resembling lead is glued to them, as in a classic stained glass window. It turns out to be an amazing composition.

Stained-glass windows with film cost less than soldered ones, and the visual effect is no worse than that of stained-glass windows made using traditional technology. They can be used to decorate doors, windows, ceilings and partitions.

The technique of painting on glass is truly jewelry. It requires not only design thinking, but great endurance and skill.

The contours of the future drawing are applied to the base glass. This is done on special equipment, the program of which contains the layout of the future picture. Then the designer manually fills the contours with special silicate paints of different colors, in accordance with the chosen template. The result is a real painting, based not on canvas, but on glass.

And you can draw anything you want, be it flowers from the Garden of Eden or a samurai. Any drawings take on a different life on the glass. This technique creates very fresh, colorful images that will not wash off or fade.

Engraving is a technique of applying an inscription, drawing, clear angles and lines on glass using special equipment - an engraver or a laser. The engraver scratches the image, the laser melts the glass.

We use an engraver in our production. The process is fully automated - a program is put into the equipment that reproduces the pattern according to the template. The specialist only monitors the progress of the process.

The tool produces up to 3500 revolutions per hour. To prevent the glass and the instrument itself from overheating, water is constantly supplied - this creates optimal temperature conditions.

Modern engraving allows for a very clear and accurate image that will not be damaged by detergents and will not lose freshness over time.

Sandblasting glass is the application of a pattern using quartz sand. The surface of the glass is pre-processed: a self-adhesive film is applied to the glass. Areas that need to be left intact are isolated; the contours of the future drawing, on the contrary, open up.

Then the glass is placed in special equipment. There it is fixed on suction cups so that there are no unnecessary movements and scratches. Particles of quartz sand in a strong jet of compressed air make either the entire glass surface matte, or leave patterns on the glass not covered with a self-adhesive film.

Door assembly

Installation of an interior door -
the process is complex, requiring a certain skill and accuracy. The operation of the door will depend on how the door is installed. There are some points to pay attention to, it doesn't matter if you install the door yourself or the master does it.

Preparing for installation
When accepting a new door, check that all parts and accessories are present, as well as the condition of the door and frame - it is important that they are free of any defects.

The old door must be carefully dismantled without damaging the walls.

The working area must be prepared so that it is convenient to position the door horizontally.

Assembling the door frame
The door installation process begins with assembling and securing the door frame.

It is important to correctly measure the size of the opening and adjust the size of the door frame to it. There should be a 10 mm gap at the bottom.

When assembling the box, dock the upper bar and vertical risers. They are drilled: vertical risers - in the center of the joint; the top bar - in four places at a distance of about 6 mm from the edge.

It is important to install the door exactly perpendicular to the floor as this affects the narthex. If installed incorrectly, the door will either constantly swing open, or, conversely, constantly close.

The corners of the box must be exactly 90 degrees, otherwise the door may not "fit" into the doorway at all.

Door installation

After the box is assembled and secured, the door is hung. Pay special attention to the choice of hinges - buy them from trusted manufacturers.

Varadoor recommends the use of two split hinges so that if necessary you can remove the door without unscrewing the hinges. In addition, these hinges are usually equipped with bearings that make the door easy to move, and this prolongs its service life.

When fastening the door, leave gaps along the entire length of 1.5 mm between the door leaf and the frame. The gap is needed so that the door can be easily opened / closed. Due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the door may expand. Therefore, gaps with a width of less than 1.5 mm are not made.

After the door has been hung, it is checked whether it closes exactly. If exactly, proceed to the next stage - soundproofing.

Soundproofing
To provide sound and heat insulation between the opening and the door frame, polyurethane foam is applied. Before starting work, the door is covered with a film so that debris does not get on it. The opening is moistened with water for better adhesion. After that, the foam is applied in a thin layer around the perimeter. Typical consumption: 1 bottle per door.

In order for the foam to fix, it is left for 12-24 hours (during this time it will dry), and then the excess is removed.

Installation of platbands
Before installing the platbands, they are adjusted in length. For this, the details of the casing are applied to the future installation site. Then markings are made and sawn off at an angle of 45 degrees. Varadoor advises to follow the following sequence: left side, top, right.

After that, the platbands are attached with glue or finishing nails.

Platbands hide all possible errors that occurred during door installation, and significantly improve the outer door frame, giving the structure a finished look.

In this article, we have described the main stages of door installation. Pay attention to the door installation process - its service life depends on it. A properly installed door is a door for the ages.

Fittings

Fittings are an important detail that completes the outer appearance of the door. She is able to stylishly emphasize the design solution of the door or, on the contrary, break out of the concept of the model and thereby violate the given style.

Despite the fact that the door is not capable of functioning without fittings, it is considered a minor element, but its importance should not be underestimated.

What are fittings?

Fittings are a structural element of a door designed to improve its functionality and external decoration. Traditionally, door hardware includes door handles, hinges, eyes, keyholes and linings, door closers and stoppers, chains and latches.

Doorknobs

When choosing handles, as a rule, they pay special attention. This is due to the fact that not only the functioning of the door, but also its appearance depends on them. There are two types of door handles - push and stationary.

Push-on
The lever handle is installed if the door has a latch lock. The door is opened and closed by pressing the handle, which activates the latch (latch).

A variety of lever handles are nobs, are the so-called ball-handles. To change the position of the latch latch, they must be turned.

Stationary
The stationary handle cannot be moved - turned or pressed. It has nothing to do with the door lock and is intended for the convenience of opening the door. Such a handle is installed directly on the door leaf.

Door hinges

Door hinges are fasteners by means of which the door is connected to the frame (frame). There are overhead, screw-in and hidden door hinges.

Overhead
When fastened, such hinges are superimposed on the door leaf and frame and screwed on with screws. There are right, left and universal overhead hinges.

Screw-in
Screw-in hinges are screw-in hinges, consisting of two parts, on which threaded pins are located. One part of such a hinge is screwed into the door leaf, the other into the frame. Depending on the weight of the door, models of screw-in hinges with a different number of pins are used.

Hidden
Hidden hinges are invisible when the door is closed. Such hinges are installed on the door leaf by inserting. The advantage is that a door with hidden hinges can open 180 ° .

Closers and stoppers

The door closer is installed on the door if it is necessary to close it smoothly. This device automatically closes the door, which allows to extend the operational life of the hinges.

Stoppers are devices that are mounted on the door to protect the door leaf from impacts against the wall.

Espagnolettes

Door latches are latches designed to fix the door leaf. There are built-in and mortise latches.

Embedded
This is the most economical type. Built-in latches are installed without drilling or milling operations in a special groove in the door leaf.

Mortise
The most common option. Mortise latches are used more often in interior doors. Such devices are installed during the door manufacturing process.

Our company does not manufacture fittings, but fittings from any manufacturer will fit Varadoor doors.

The hallmark of a house or apartment is an interior door. That is why it is necessary to be very responsible when choosing doors. By the appearance and "character" of the door, one can judge the wealth and taste of the owner.

How to protect your door from damage and scratches

A lot has been written about interior doors: how to choose, install, check their quality and much more. But almost every person who is going to change interior doors asks himself the question of what to do if the door is damaged?

Cat and dog owners are especially concerned about how to protect their doors from the teeth and claws of their four-legged pets. Unfortunately, veneer and laminate are materials that can be damaged by sharp objects.

But it doesn't matter if the door is still damaged! They can be removed with a mild furniture wax. Experts recommend using correcting wax pencils of the Novorit brand, which are produced by Technocolor, as well as fixing colorless varnish from the same manufacturer.

Wax sticks are designed to seal dents, cracks and chips on laminated and wood surfaces, as well as to ensure the moisture resistance of the damaged surface. In the event of a minor scratch, apply the wax by rubbing in. If the damage is significant, then the application is carried out with a spatula and an edging knife. The excess wax is cut off, and then the surface is carefully polished with a soft cloth, preferably felt.

If the damaged surface has a distinct wood structure, then on top of the wax on the putty area, an imitation of a wooden surface pattern can be applied with a felt-tip pen.

You can also use furniture fixing varnish to quickly repair minor scratches and cracks on laminate and wood surfaces. Shake well before use, and then apply several layers. After drying, after about 6-7 minutes, the excess can be removed with a damp cloth. The varnish bottle must be kept tightly closed.

The most unpretentious materials to maintain are laminate and hardboard. For leaving, it is enough to wipe them with a damp cloth. Doors made of natural wood and veneer should be looked after with a special polish. The use of a special wax composition allows not only cleaning the door, but also protects it from damage and removes minor scratches.

Pros and cons of veneered doors

Doors made of natural wood have been valued at all times. They are characterized by high reliability, environmental friendliness, good quality and impeccable appearance.

But the processing of natural wood and the further manufacture of the door require a complex production process, which, accordingly, makes the cost of such doors quite high. Therefore, veneered interior doors are very popular with buyers - an excellent option for value for money.

There are 2 types of such doors: from artificial veneer and natural.

  • Artificial veneer is a special paper on which a wood grain pattern is applied and impregnated with melamine resins. Outwardly, such a coating is very similar to real wood, but the service life and environmental friendliness are much inferior to natural material;
  • Natural veneer is made from a thin cut of wood with a thickness of 0.4 - 1 mm and a width of about 15 cm. Natural veneer is stronger and more durable than artificial one, which is why Varadoor uses this coating method.

Advantages of veneered doors:

  • Affordable price and excellent quality.
  • Reliability and environmental friendliness.
  • Resistant to changes in temperature and humidity.
  • The use of veneer makes it possible to produce doors of various colors and shades
  • Wood veneer has a unique pattern, so the texture is not repeated in any product.
  • In case of mechanical damage, they are easily repaired.

The disadvantages of veneered doors include only the likelihood that the texture of the coating will be heterogeneous. However, with a professional and quality approach to production, this can be avoided.

Door terminology

Language is the best medium for establishing friendship and harmony.

Erasmus of Rotterdam

So let's speak the same language! We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the list of terms that are most often used in the door industry and that you may encounter when buying a door.

Crops - bars with a shaped profile, which are used to divide the glazed part of the door and strengthen the glass. This element gives strength to the entire structure of the door leaf.

Door leaf- this is the main movable part of the door, which can be a frame or panel structure. In the frame fabric, the internal cavities are filled with either honeycomb filler, or MDF, chipboard, solid wood bars. The door can consist of one, two or more door leaves. The door leaf is attached to the frame with hinges or with rollers on the slide rail.

Door frame- prefabricated frame structure, which is fixedly installed in the doorway and serves for hanging the door leaves. Platbands and additional elements are attached to the box. The door frame consists of 2 uprights and a crossbar. Made of MDF, chipboard or solid wood.

Decorative overlays (false sash)- overhead decorative profiles glued to the glass unit from the inside or outside and forming a false, so-called, false binding.

Dobor (additional bar)- a decorative element that serves to expand the door frame if it is narrower than the wall. Sizes in width can be from 30 to 500 mm, in length the extension is equal to the length of the platbands. Usually they are made of wood-board materials covered with veneer or decorative film, very rarely found from solid wood.

Mold- shaped profile at the edges framing the glass or panel.

Platband- a wide strip framing the doorway and hiding the gaps between the frame and the wall. Platbands can be rounded, flat, curly, telescopic. They are made of MDF and chipboard, less often of solid wood.

Strapping- bars located along the perimeter of the door.

Crossbar- an element of the door leaf, which is located between the panel or glass and has a groove for securing them. The width of the cross member on the case doors is 25mm.

Threshold- a special block located at the bottom of the doorway and serves to improve heat and sound insulation.

Porch (feigned bar, quarter)- the place of contact of the door leaf with the box. Performs soundproofing function. It is mainly used in conjunction with a sealant.

Aperture- opening for doors in walls or partitions.

Middlemen- bars that divide the inner space of the canvas into sections for further installation of glass or panels. The straps are also interconnected.

Seals- elastic gaskets of tubular or more complex cross-section, running along the entire perimeter of the door and protecting from cold air, noise and moisture.

Filenka- a section marked with thin profiled frames, a shield made of thin boards or plywood, which closes the gap in the frame of the door leaf.

Fittings- door elements (hinges, locks, handles, limiters, etc.), which provide comfortable control of locking devices and perform a decorative function.

The need to protect your home has existed since time immemorial. Historically, people have seen something so solid and durable in iron that they can defend against. Throughout the history of mankind, the technology of manufacturing door structures, as well as the materials from which they were made, have changed many times. It will be about such ordinary metal entrance doors, but as it turned out with a huge number of interesting facts and non-standard history.

In 2010, in Zurich (Switzerland), archaeologists discovered an entrance door, which is about 5 thousand years old. Thus, this find is the same age as the British Stonehenge. According to scientists, the door structure has survived to this day due to the fact that at that time harsh climatic conditions forced people to build their homes around lakes, and this required strong timber.

The oldest wooden door still in service is at Westminster Abbey (UK). It has been reliably established that it was made of oak, felled in the 11th century. Thus, the approximate age of the door structure is about 10 centuries.

All over the world, metal entrance doors are classified into 13 security classes. And if the doors of 6-7 security class are found everywhere in bank vaults, then the door steel system of the 13th security class is only in Fort Knox (USA). Fort Knox is a repository of US gold reserves. The steel product, which reliably guards the gold reserves of the United States of America, weighs 22 tons and is 1 meter thick. It is made of seven layers of steel, and it was cooked using a secret technology.

The world's tallest door is located in a spacecraft workshop in Florida (USA). It has a height of 140 meters, and 45 minutes is the approximate time of its closing / opening.

The heaviest door system is considered to be a metal structure installed in the Lawrence Laboratory in California. Its weight is about 320 tons, and its thickness is almost 2.5 meters. And although it seems that with such a mass, only remote opening / closing is possible, but thanks to the special door hinges, the system also opens manually.

The fastest-closing door products are installed in laboratories dealing with explosives. In case of danger, they close in 0.3 seconds. Such a high speed is provided by nitrogen compressed to 1000 atmospheres.

The automatic door "Tanaka" opens automatically when someone approaches it, and it is precisely the passage of precisely the shape and size that opens so that a particular person can enter. Each of the horizontal sliding bars that make up the door is equipped with sensors that calculate the shape of the person wishing to pass and repeat it.

The most beautiful is considered to be the bronze gate of the Baptistery of St. John the Baptist in Florence, Italy. The entrances were so skillfully finished that the great Michelangelo called them "The Gates of Paradise". They were made by the famous at that time architects Andrea Pisano and Ghiberti by order of the Guild of Merchants in 1425.

One of the most eerie doors in the world can be considered the door of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, this cathedral is located in Slovenia. In fact, all the doors of this cathedral are a little creepy, but this one is especially. She is quite young, this door appeared in 1996 in honor of the visit to the cathedral of Pope John Paul II. According to the authors' design idea, the door should represent the history of the diocese.

Supposedly the most secure residential door on the planet is made in Colombia. This monster has the following characteristics: bulletproof, fireproof, explosion-proof, protection against metal cutters, 10 locks (pins almost 2 cm wide), biometric lock system (first a fingerprint is checked, then a blood test is taken to check that the finger belongs to a living person) , camera integration over IP (if you wish, a photo of the visitor will be sent to you by e-mail as soon as he clicks the call).

In Ancient Russia, the doors were specially made low so that guests would welcome the hosts who sheltered them.

The well-known rule of behavior when a man lets a woman through an open door has its origins in ancient times. It's sad, but true: when people were still living in caves, a man checked the safety of his home in this way, and suddenly the mammoth accidentally ran in or an enemy tribe dropped in. Here the weaker sex had to check the presence of danger on itself.
