Machine design features

The cutting tool of the milling machine is placed in a special housing with a nozzle, which is designed to remove dust and chips. The machine is connected to a general or local waste disposal system. There is a special mechanism in the design of the machine for adjusting the amount of wood waste removal.

Composite mechanisms and units of the unit

They are placed on the machine on a powerful frame and compactly inside it, taking into account the convenience and safety of use. The bed has a box shape and is made by welding or casting. Inside there are special guides for installing the drive. On the frame there is a table, reinforced with stiffeners, made of cast iron. A clamp with a ruler, moving along the T-shaped grooves, serves to fix the workpieces. Locking is done by clamps screw design. The carriage moves along the guides manually by the operator and serves to advance the workpiece in the desired direction. The milling machine drive is a device consisting of the following structural elements:

  • asynchronous two-speed electric motor with a squirrel-cage rotor;
  • transmission with poly V-belt;
  • headstock;
  • sub-engine plates;
  • rods in the amount of 2 pieces.

The headstock is a housing made of cast iron in which the spindle is located. It is mounted on special bearings. In its upper part there is a cone-type hole for attaching a removable spindle nozzle (mandrel). There is also a bracket that serves to hold the mandrel. This device is driven by rack and pinion.

A steel shield with special claw protection and a movement limiter near the working tool closes it, which makes working on the machine absolutely safe in terms of safety.

The lifting mechanism is a unit consisting of a gearbox, a screw pair and a flywheel. Its purpose is to raise or lower the motion drive.

Location of controls

The unit is equipped with a compact control panel. It has 2 pushbuttons for turning the drive on and off and 2 signal lamps for green and white color, which notify about the supply of voltage to the machine and the inclusion of the drive, which transmits the rotation to the cutter. Electrical equipment is located in the niche of the frame. The rotational speed (recall, there are 4 of them) is changed by pressing the switch button.

A 4 kW two-speed electric motor is connected to the headstock via a belt-type transmission. Spindle acceleration or deceleration time 2.3 sec. FSSh-1 machine, the abbreviation of which stands for milling machine tenoning is produced by several Russian enterprises, which, as a rule, add the first letter of the city where the manufacturer is located to the marking in brackets. Operating rules

The machine is installed in a room where the temperature does not fall below 10 C and humidity does not exceed 80%. The device must be properly grounded. For this, a special contact clamp is provided in its design. It is connected to the general circuit of the room. Safety

The quality of its work depends on how the FSS-1 is installed. Therefore, after its transportation to the installation site and the installation itself, the alignment of the installation accuracy should be checked for level. It should not exceed 0.1 mm per 1 m of the product. The bed is fixed to the base with the help of foundation bolts with a diameter of 12 mm in the holes provided on the bed. All protective grease from the places to be preserved is removed with a rag.

Before operating the machine in the operating mode, its readiness for operation is checked at idle, i.e. without workpiece processing.

Attention! The spindle drive has dynamic type braking. It should not turn on and off more than 10 times per hour.

To adjust the number of revolutions, a motor speed switch and a belt are used, which are reset to one of two positions on a two-stage type drive pulley.

The safety of work on the FSSh-1 machine also depends on how the equipment is technically maintained during its operation. Every shift and scheduled inspections should be carried out, which are carried out within the time limits specified in technical documentation, which is maintained by the person responsible for the electrical facilities of the enterprise or workshop.

A daily inspection by the site foreman or the operator himself makes it possible to identify a malfunction or insecurity of fastening the machined tool, mandrel, and other structural units. A scheduled inspection includes a set of works on lubrication, its replacement, accuracy checks (technological and geometric) and testing of electrical components. They check the performance of starting push-button elements, switches, the quality of the connected cores and wires, the tension of the contact parts.

Description of structural elements

With this model of the machine, you can perform wide range milling operations for processing wooden blanks. Materials are fed manually, there is the possibility of cutting spikes. For this, the design has a special tenon-cutting carriage. You can also do the processing of curved surfaces using templates.

The design of this model is simple, the kinematic scheme of the drive is not complicated. The basis of the equipment is a pedestal, inside which the power plant is located. From it comes a rotational movement on a vertical shaft. The FSSh-1A model has adjustable table, protective equipment and a set of guides for processing wooden blanks.

  • bed. This is a molded hard box required to install the main components. Some modifications of the machine provide for the manufacture of the frame by welding;

To remove chips, the design provides a branch pipe for connection to the system exhaust ventilation. Improving the accuracy of processing contributes to the system of fixing workpieces with a measuring ruler. It can be used to cut at an angle.

For work safety most of cutter is closed with a steel protective shield. However, it does not affect the functionality of the equipment, since the design has convenient system shield illumination relative to the working tool.
