What to eat to increase breast milk. Means for increasing lactation

Every mother knows how beneficial breastfeeding is for a newborn. Irrational nutrition is one of the main reasons due to which there is a lack of milk. There is no need to rush to transfer the baby to artificial feeding, to rush to connect mixtures. Products that increase lactation, making the menu balanced and varied, help to deal with the problem.

Drinking regime

Products that increase lactation in the first days after childbirth and beyond are primarily liquid (milk, juices, teas, water). Many young mothers are convinced that there should be as much liquid as possible, this stimulates milk production. This is partly true, but the quality of the composition of this main dish of the baby will become much worse. Excess water has a diluting effect on milk, depriving it of valuable vitamins, minerals, fat and protein.

The mammary glands produce approximately 800-900 ml of milk per day. To "support" their work, it is enough to consume about 2 liters of fluid per day. Not only drinks, but all liquid foods (for example, soups) should be taken into account.

Herbal infusions, teas

When choosing products that increase lactation in women, one should not forget about healing herbal teas, collections, infusions. There are three groups of herbs that not only "boost" milk production, but also solve certain health problems.

  1. Nettle. It is useful for physical exhaustion, chronic weakness, low hemoglobin, anemia.
  2. Melissa, mint and oregano. These herbs perfectly relieve stress, tension, which often have a negative effect on lactation processes.
  3. Dill, fennel and cumin. Teas based on these herbs effectively solve the problems associated with the digestive tract.

The number one recipe for solving problems with milk, proven for centuries, is a decoction made on the basis of dill seeds. 1 st. l. seeds are poured with a glass of boiling water, infused for 1.5-2 hours, cooled. It is enough to drink half a glass twice a day. Alternatives to dill that produce the same effect are anise, cumin.

Drinks, juices

Listing products that increase lactation of breast milk, first of all, the following drinks and juices should be mentioned.

  1. Carrot drink is one of the best milk stimulants. It is made from finely grated carrots. 3-4 tablespoons (table) of the product are poured into a glass of boiled, slightly cooled milk. The mixture is drunk immediately. Honey is a great alternative to carrots.
  2. Improves the production of "baby food" and nut milk. 100 g of walnuts are poured into 500 ml, boiled until thickened. If desired, you can add a little sugar. This drink is recommended to be taken 30 minutes before breastfeeding, the recommended volume is a third of a glass.

Fruits and vegetables

Carrots and onions are products that increase milk lactation, which are recommended to be added as often as possible to first and second courses, salads, as they are very useful for lactating women. Radish and pumpkin are practically not inferior to them. Carrots should be regularly included in the diet and in the form of freshly squeezed juice.

Fruits should be added to cereals; oatmeal and buckwheat are recommended for newly-made mothers during the feeding period. It is also worth using apples, plums, pears to make compote, which supplies the body with vitamins.

Nuts, honey

Mushrooms also have a positive effect on lactation processes, activate blood flow, cause capillary expansion, improving the delivery of hormones and vitamins to the mammary glands. It is best to add them to the menu in the form of soups, scrupulously adhering to the basic rules of cooking.

What products cannot be

Which foods increase lactation is not the only important question. First of all, you need to exclude from the diet foods that inhibit this natural process. On the banned list:

  • mint, sage;
  • hop cones;
  • walnut leaf;
  • basil, horsetail;
  • parsley, lingonberry.

The menu of a newly-made mother breastfeeding a baby should not contain smoked, fried, spicy dishes. Seasonings that retain salt and mayonnaise fall into the category of prohibited elements. It is worth giving up canned food, sausages, minimizing flour foods, foods that have become famous as potential allergens, for example, chocolate, mackerel, crayfish.

Adhering to the right diet, eating enough foods that increase lactation, a woman will solve her problems with a lack of milk.

Often the concern of nursing mothers is a decrease in the amount of milk. At the same time, women are in a hurry to supplement, or even completely transfer it to artificial nutrition. However, breastfeeding is therefore called natural, which is provided by nature, and there is no better food for the baby. Experts say that in 98% of cases, a decrease in lactation is a temporary and quite normal phenomenon. In addition, this phenomenon is cyclical, and can be repeated every two to three months. Therefore, it is not worth rushing to supplement the baby. With a little effort, the amount of milk will increase again. And help in this, first of all, products that increase lactation.

First of all, to maintain or increase lactation, it is necessary to increase the amount of fluid you drink per day. The body of a nursing mother produces about 900 ml daily. milk, which means that you need to drink about a liter more liquid than usual. It can be drinks, juices, tea, milk and even soups. But you should not overdo it with liquid either, its amount per day should be no more than 2 liters. Otherwise, the volume of milk can really increase, but its quality will suffer - the amount of vitamins, proteins and fat will decrease. Instead, experts advise including milk, green tea, fermented milk products in the diet. For example, before feeding, it is recommended to drink a cup of freshly brewed green tea, always hot, you can add milk to it. Instead of tea, you can drink kefir or yogurt. During the day, you can also drink black. It is advisable to drink 0.5 liters of milk daily.

Products that increase lactation are also nuts, seeds, carrots, fennel, feta cheese, honey, some spices, in particular, anise, cumin and ginger. Not only milk drinks stimulate lactation, but also walnut syrup, carrot juice, natural blackcurrant juice. Products to increase lactation are those that are advised to be used by mothers, among other things, to strengthen the body, and apilac. However, apilac should be used with caution, as bee products can cause allergies in a child.

In addition, products that increase lactation are also many medicinal herbs that were successfully used by our great-grandmothers. These include nettle, oregano, hawthorn, anise, dill. The benefits of using herbs are obvious, because many of them have not only lactogenic properties, but also have a beneficial effect on the nervous system and help strengthen the immune system. By the way, there are many recipes that include both lactogenic herbs and products that increase lactation.

Folk recipes

20 gr. nettle leaves (dry) pour boiling water (1 liter) and insist. Take an infusion of 1 tbsp. spoon three times a day.

Crush the fruits of anise and dill (25 gr each) and mix. Then pour 1 teaspoon of the resulting collection with a glass of boiling water. The infusion is taken three times a day, before meals, 1 tbsp. spoon.

50 gr. oatmeal is mixed with dried apricots and walnuts (100 gr each). The mass is poured with sour-milk drinks or milk.

Buckwheat is fried in a pan and eaten like seeds during the day.

Freshly squeezed carrot juice is taken half a glass three times a day.

100 ml. radish juice and cooled salted boiled water are mixed with honey (1 tablespoon). Drink this solution three times a day.

Ginger decoction is effective for increasing lactation. A tablespoon of ginger (ground) is taken in 1/2 liter of water and boiled for 5 minutes. Take a decoction three times a day for a third of a glass.

2 tbsp. spoons of walnuts (peeled) are poured into a thermos with two glasses of milk (pre-bring to a boil). Leave the mixture to infuse overnight. In the morning, the solution is divided into 4 parts, the entire volume is drunk per day.

100 gr. Grind figs, dried apricots and raisins and mix with ground walnuts (1 cup). Add 100 gr. honey and butter, mix again. The mixture should be taken before feeding, 15 minutes before, in a tablespoon.

Mix 4 cups of kefir with a liter of milk, add 10 gr. walnuts, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of crushed dandelion petals and dill leaves. Beat the mixture with a mixer, take half a glass with breakfast.

With breast milk, the baby receives all the necessary nutrients for growth, development, health and activity. Insufficient production of breast milk is a serious problem for women who are aware of its usefulness and want good nutrition for the baby, but do not want to resort to artificial mixtures. What products that improve lactation can a nursing mother consume? Consider the most popular and discussed options, is their effect on breast milk production really as great as it is commonly believed?

Products that increase lactation

No need to blindly follow a strict diet immediately after childbirth and during breastfeeding. A breastfeeding mom needs to focus on choosing healthy foods free of preservatives, colors and sweeteners that provide high quality breast milk. Choose whole grain breads, fresh fruits and vegetables. A variety of food brings new flavors to milk and forms the taste preferences of the child.

A sufficient amount of breast milk ensures the harmonious and full development of the baby.

The main rules of a nursing mother to increase lactation:

  1. Compliance with the water balance (sufficient intake of pure non-carbonated water into the body) is the most important condition for the production of the required amount of breast milk. You need to drink at least 2.5-3 liters per day before the thirst reminds of itself.
  2. Any hot or warm liquid (most importantly, not cold) that a nursing mother drinks between feedings (at least 1.5–2 glasses each) has a lactagon effect (the ability to stimulate lactation). For example, drink warm or hot green tea, barley water or your favorite warm drink daily half an hour before meals, and avoid sweetened juices and sodas.

Beer and its effect on lactation

The opinion that natural beer helps stimulate lactation or improves the quality of breast milk is very popular. But so far, there is no scientific evidence to support this.. These properties are attributed to brewer's yeast and barley malt (one of the ingredients in beer), which act as a stimulant for the production of estrogens (female hormones) and prolactin (regulates lactation), and thus more milk. But many mothers willingly share their personal experience, how it was beer that helped them to establish sufficient milk production.

Important! It is worth remembering that alcohol is very dangerous for the developing body of the baby, and during breastfeeding, you should avoid drinking even a small strength of alcoholic beverages.

Non-alcoholic beer acts as a mild compromise option for stimulating lactation. It should be drunk 100–200 ml after feeding, milk should arrive at the next breastfeeding.

The recipe for beer with sour cream is often found on the forums on the Internet dedicated to breastfeeding. But the effectiveness of a mixture of warm beer with sour cream is debatable, the combination of these products can cause fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract, it is better to use less fatty dairy products (yogurt, kefir, fermented baked milk, yogurt) and drink any liquid in sufficient quantities, and beer - separately.

The presence of brewer's yeast in live beer supports its reputation as a lactogenic drink. Yeast contains a large amount of B vitamins. It is quite possible to use dry brewer's yeast 2 tablets 3 times a day instead of beer.

Brewer's yeast tablets can be used to stimulate lactation

Worth knowing: beer and drinks based on it can provoke intestinal disorders and increased gas formation in the baby, in this case, the mother needs to exclude this product from the menu.

To achieve a lactogenic effect, you can use barley broth:

  1. 300 grams of barley grains (can be crushed) pour 3 liters of water.
  2. Boil over low heat for at least 2 hours (to increase the lactogonal effect, you can add ginger, fennel, thyme, etc.).
  3. Cool the broth, strain and drink 3 times a day for half a cup on an empty stomach.

Milk products

Dairy products are a storehouse of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium necessary for nursing mothers. After all, actively growing bones and teeth of a child need building material, and it comes from mother's milk. Dairy products show the ability to stimulate lactation in the same way as any other liquid drunk by a nursing mother (it is better to drink warm), that is, dairy products themselves, for all their indispensable benefits, do not have any special, fundamentally affecting the production of more breast milk properties.

Unleavened milk can cause allergic reactions: the protein alpha-1s-casein in fresh cow's milk is one of the first allergenic foods. A lactating woman should limit the amount of fresh milk, no more than 1-1.5 cups per day, and not drink it for at least a month after giving birth, even if she previously tolerated it normally. Of course, if mother and child do not have a reaction, then you can safely drink tea with milk as much as you want. But if there are allergies in the family, caution in drinking milk does not hurt. There is an opinion that baked milk is digested easier than unleavened milk.

Powdered milk contains the same allergens as fresh milk, it is better not to abuse it, its lactogenic effect is nothing more than a myth.

Fortunately, the altered (fermented) proteins in fermented milk products, cottage cheese and cheese are not allergenic, so they are easier to digest. If a mother relies mainly on dairy products as a source of calcium, it is advisable to consume fermented milk products, at least 1 liter, preferably 1.2 liters per day.

From dairy products, preference should be given to cottage cheese and cheese, they do not exhibit allergenic properties, unlike milk.

There is also a persistent myth that condensed milk during breastfeeding improves the quantity and nutritional quality of mother's milk, but most pediatricians are against this, since condensed milk contains too much sugar and milk fat, and this is not good for either mother or baby. Condensed milk is often the main cause of various allergic reactions, causing digestive disorders (colic, diarrhea). Pediatricians advise adding condensed milk to the mother's diet, if she really wants to, not earlier than three months after childbirth and in moderation: no more than two tablespoons per glass of warm tea per day.

Nuts - natural nutrient concentrate

Nuts can be consumed only when a woman does not have allergic reactions to them. Nuts (non-fried and unsalted kernels) are useful for lactation, they contain a whole palette of necessary substances:

  • unsaturated fatty acids;
  • vitamins;
  • trace elements;
  • antioxidants.

Walnuts (Voloshsky) are considered especially good, almonds are valued. And it is better not to eat peanuts, since they contain relatively few valuable substances and are known as a very strong allergen, up to 75% of the total number of allergic reactions to food. In general, the peanut is a nut only in the gastronomic sense, botanically it is a leguminous plant and a relative of the bean and pea. Therefore, it often happens that suffering from an allergy to peanuts, you can eat other nuts and not experience problems, and vice versa.

Nuts (in their culinary definition) in descending order of allergenicity: peanuts, forest (hazelnuts), Brazilian, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, cashews, cedar. Although the allergy to nuts is quite selective - for one type of nuts, for example, almonds or peanuts, the immune reaction can be very sharp (Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock, etc.), while another type of nuts may not cause any protest in the body.

The mechanism of influence of nuts on lactation enhancement is that, due to the concentration of nutrients, they supply a lot of “building material” (proteins, vitamins) and energy (fats and carbohydrates) for the production of breast milk, because this is a very energy-consuming process, and breastfeeding women often increase appetite.

Nuts with honey are a delicious nutritious folk remedy (if there is no allergy, that is, individual intolerance to both). Need:

  1. Grind and mix in equal parts honey and nuts.
  2. Use 1-2 tbsp. spoons a day.

This mixture allows you to restore strength due to its high nutritional value. The lactagon effect can manifest itself if the mother’s milk began to disappear due to stress or malnutrition.

"Nut" milk:

  1. Pour half a glass of peeled walnuts in a thermos with 1 liter of boiling milk.
  2. Insist 5 hours.
  3. Infusion to drink, if there are no contraindications, just like that during the day, 2-3 tbsp. spoons or add to tea.

At night, take with caution, in the morning you may feel chest fullness up to soreness.

Milk brewed with walnuts can improve lactation

Carrot and carrot juice

Carrots are rich in useful vitamins (carotene, from which vitamin A is synthesized in the body, vitamins of groups B, PP, C) and trace elements (potassium, iron, copper, iodine, zinc). The mechanism of influence of this "sunny root crop" is to normalize the synthesis of female sex hormones and to restore the strength and health of the mother, if the deterioration of lactation occurred due to hypovitaminosis, lack of trace elements, stress (the effect of the general strengthening effect of carrots). If the reasons are different, you should not expect miracles in the form of large bursts of milk.

You should not eat too many carrots (no more than 3-4 pieces of medium size per day, i.e. 300-400 g), excess vitamin A may accumulate in body tissues and unpleasant symptoms of hypervitaminosis. And also it is worth refraining from carrots with exacerbation of stomach and duodenal ulcers, colitis, kidney diseases.

Freshly squeezed carrot juice is drunk half a glass 2-3 times a day.

Carrots and carrot juice are very useful for nursing mothers

Carrots grated with milk and honey:

  1. Rub the root on a fine grater.
  2. Put in a glass 3-4 tbsp. mass spoons.
  3. Topped with milk or cream.
  4. Warm up in a water bath for 1 hour.
  5. Eat warm, 0.5 cups of milk-carrot mixture 2-3 times a day. At night, honey can be added to the mixture (if there is no allergy), this relieves nervous tension and improves sleep.

Cereals and cereals

Good nutrition for the mother is the key to good nutrition for the baby. During breastfeeding, many mothers, afraid to get better, avoid cereals and make a mistake, their body does not receive valuable nutrients. The diet should include various cereals in the form of cereals from whole grains, they contain the necessary fiber, "slow" carbohydrates, B vitamins and trace elements. They have some stimulating effect on the production of breast milk, as they normalize metabolism, restore carbohydrate and mineral balance, contribute to the production of the “good mood” hormone serotonin, thereby correcting the effects of stress to which young mothers are exposed.

For successful lactation are useful:

  • buckwheat, especially green;
  • millet;
  • unpolished (brown) rice;
  • chickpeas (chickpeas).

Chickpeas contain 18 essential amino acids, vitamins B, A, C, E and K

Unpolished (brown) rice has a positive effect on lactation, especially in the form of rice porridge with pumpkin:

  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice, pour water to swell for 2 hours.
  2. Drain and refill with 3.5 cups of water.
  3. Salt, add sugar to taste and finely chopped pumpkin.
  4. Cook for 30 minutes, then cover with a lid and let it rest for 2 hours.

Pumpkin, like carrots, is good for lactation in any form, but rice should be approached with caution, as it can cause constipation.

Green buckwheat is just a storehouse of valuable substances:

  • proteins;
  • iron;
  • calcium;
  • potassium;
  • phosphorus;
  • zinc;
  • fluorine;
  • vitamins of group B, PP, E.

It is much healthier than industrially processed (steamed and dried) conventional buckwheat. To stimulate lactation, it is worth eating buckwheat porridge more often, you can also eat a handful of dry green buckwheat seeds (like seeds) during the day.

The action of semolina as a lactogenic agent is more of a stable myth than a proven fact. Semolina contains too many easily digestible carbohydrates and few vitamins, besides, wheat protein (gluten) is not useful for everyone, some do not tolerate it.

Corn contains a lot of healthy fiber, trace elements and vitamins. It can be eaten in the form of boiled cobs, corn porridge or canned (grains) in addition to salads. But it should be included in the menu with caution and little by little, since, with a slight lactogenic effect, corn can provoke colic in a baby.

Cooking corn porridge is easy:

  1. 3 glasses of water, a glass of cereal, 50 grams of olive oil and a little salt.
  2. The cereal is washed, poured with water, salt is added.
  3. Cook for 30 minutes at a moderate temperature, then add the oil.

Photo gallery: cereals and cereals, useful for nursing mothers

Corn is useful in any form, but in moderation Unpolished (brown) rice preserves B vitamins Green buckwheat contains many valuable vitamins and minerals

Fruits and berries with lactogenic effect

  • Avocados are a rich source of essential fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 essential amino acids. Great for maintaining proper blood sugar and cholesterol levels, helps with lactation, as it helps fight stress, irritability and fatigue. It improves well-being, which is ensured by the content of mannoheptulose in avocados, which regulates glucose levels and its absorption by the brain. It's a good idea to add avocados to a salad or eat them as a snack.
  • Bananas are rich in various vitamins and minerals, increase the level of folic acid, which is important for the development of the baby, help lactation, normalizing carbohydrate metabolism.
  • Blackcurrant is one of the best berries that you can eat while breastfeeding (if there are no allergic reactions), a real pantry of vitamin C and natural antioxidants. As a lactogenic agent, you can use both berries (fresh, frozen, canned), and tea from the leaves.
  • Apricots contain vitamins C, A, calcium and potassium and boast important phytoestrogens that mimic the effects of estrogen. These chemicals help regulate the hormones prolactin and oxytocin in breastfeeding moms and increase lactation.

Sunflower products: halva and seeds

Fried sunflower seeds are a popular delicacy, it is believed that they are good for women (because they have a lot of vitamin E) and breastfeeding is established, but the version about lactation has not been confirmed by medicine. The arguments against include the high allergenicity of sunflower seeds, the severity of digestion, because of this they can cause increased gas formation in the baby, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pediatricians and neonatologists advise to completely exclude seeds from the mother's diet in the first 3-4 months of feeding.

Sunflower seeds contain many healthy unsaturated vegetable fats, but they should not be eaten in the first months of breastfeeding.

Halva in the East for its nutritional properties (a lot of sugar and healthy unsaturated fats) was called the "padishah of sweets."

Halva can not only increase the amount, but also increase the fat content of milk more than necessary, and this is fraught with digestive disorders in the baby (colic), besides sunflower is an allergen. Eat no more than 50-100 grams of it per day.

Bee products: honey and royal jelly

On the one hand, honey is a natural product with an inexhaustible supply of useful properties, it is a valuable product with a unique composition, it has a sedative effect and helps the mother cope with postpartum stress, which has a positive effect on milk production. But on the other hand, the allergens contained in it, for example, pollen, can cause a negative reaction in the body of the crumbs. To increase lactation, take a teaspoon of honey on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast and the same thing 2 hours after the last meal. Can be added to any drinks.

Apilak tablets contain royal jelly, which has undergone special processing. The substance obtained from the bees is dried at low temperature, then vacuum-packed. Take one tablet under the tongue 3 times a day if there are no contraindications.

Our family doctor advised a preparation based on the royal jelly of bees - Apilak, which acts as a biogenic stimulant. I immediately bought it, and you know - I am delighted with this drug, I did not even expect such an effect. Milk began to arrive much better, there was more of it, my baby now eats plenty and calmly falls asleep!

lactogenic drinks

The relationship between lactation and the amount of liquid drunk is undeniable: the liquid that enters the body of a woman is the basis for the produced milk. Therefore, a nursing mother should not limit herself to drinking. Here are some recipes that have a reputation for being lactogenic.

Kissel made from rye flour (namely rye, not wheat) in a warm form helps the flow of milk:

  1. Pour 1.5–2 cups of rye flour with warm water (8 cups) and leave to ferment in a warm place.
  2. Then add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. tablespoons of honey, salt to taste and cook for 30 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Drink half a glass 3 times a day, an hour before feeding.

Teas made from herbs or with the addition of spicy plants (ginger, dill, etc.) are very popular as lactogenic agents.

Ginger root is a natural lactagon remedy, contains essential amino acids, vitamins C, B1 and B2, zinc, iron and other trace elements and antioxidants. To prepare ginger infusion you need:

  1. Brew 2 tablespoons of chopped root with 0.5 liters of boiling water.
  2. Insist like tea and drink 30 minutes before feeding 3-5 times a day.

Tea and dishes with ginger during breastfeeding should be used carefully, this plant has a tonic property, and such an additive is not suitable for hyperexcitability of the child's central nervous system, it can aggravate sleep problems.

Ginger during breastfeeding increases lactation, but it should be used with caution

Dill seed decoction:

  1. Boil 1 tablespoon of dry dill seeds with boiling water (a glass).
  2. Infuse for 2 hours, take half a glass of warm broth 2 times a day.

Milk becomes more in 3-5 days. Useful property: softens gas formation, removes colic in a baby.

Thyme is an aromatic herb that, thanks to essential oils, enhances lactation, as it calms nerves and helps fight stress. Thyme tea is especially effective if the problem of lack of milk is caused by stress or lack of sleep:

  • brew tea according to your usual recipe, but add 1 teaspoon of thyme leaves to the tea leaves;
  • you can also use pure herbal tea: 2 tsp. dry thyme herb, 500 ml of boiling water, brew and drink 3-4 times a day.

Thyme stimulates lactation

Curly thistle is taken as a tincture (20 drops of tincture 3 times a day) or capsules (3 capsules three times a day), firstly because of the very bitter taste of the herb, and secondly, if the plant is brewed as a tea, the concentration of active substances in it is too small for the lactagon effect. This is a dietary supplement, not a medicine, but you should consult a doctor before taking the capsules.

It is important to remember that (despite numerous studies on the effect of herbal products and drinks on lactation) there has not yet been a direct link between their use and a radical increase in milk in nursing mothers. Fragrant herbs are rather a means of correction, rather than a strong increase in the amount of breast milk. In any case, before taking any nutritional supplements, you should consult a pediatrician.

There is a popular opinion among the people that to enhance lactation it is permissible to drink a little Cahors, dry red wine or hot mulled wine from them. But alcohol is contraindicated during breastfeeding, an imperceptible dose for an adult can be very dangerous for a baby. To stimulate lactation, there are many safe recipes. If an antioxidant effect or a beneficial effect on blood formation is important to you, then it is better to eat a pomegranate, a bunch of grapes or drink juice.

Video: Dr. Komarovsky on the effects of alcohol on children

"Non-alcoholic mulled wine" is brewed from grape juice, combines the positive lactogenic effect of red grapes and spices:

  1. Pour a mixture of spices (ginger, cinnamon, fennel, caraway, anise) with boiling grape juice and infuse like tea.
  2. In the “mulled wine” that has cooled to a warm state, add honey to taste.

Products that reduce lactation

Some foods may not have the best effect on the production of breast milk. Various, seemingly harmless products, some medicinal herbs and seasonings can have a negative impact, some of this seems to be unthinkable. For example, so that milk does not become less, it is worth putting such popular additives on the far shelf as:

  • peppermint in the form of fragrant tea or mint sweets;
  • jasmine - it is often added to green tea;
  • parsley - when used in large quantities. If you like to put it in salads or stews, now is the time to stop, replace it with dill;
  • basil - green and purple;
  • sage officinalis - it is often used in colds and expectorants;
  • horsetail, which can be found in various herbal preparations;
  • black pepper - it is better to remove hot spices from the diet altogether, and use ginger and fennel instead;
  • cowberry berries;
  • cherry berries.

Highly allergenic and harmful foods when breastfeeding

Some foods and drinks deserve special attention when breastfeeding, as they affect the health of the baby, getting to him through the milk. What harmful foods should be limited or avoided while breastfeeding:

  • Products with alcohol. If you have had to drink alcohol, do not breastfeed your baby until you are sure that the alcohol has completely excreted from the body. Express and pour milk more often, this will help, without reducing lactation, to quickly get rid of alcohol molecules and its decay products. Usually all this harmful cocktail is removed in 6 hours.
  • Drinks and chocolate containing caffeine. Do not drink more than 1-2 cups of weak coffee per day, for each of them you need to add at least half a liter of water to your usual daily allowance (it is better to switch to decaffeinated coffee or chicory drinks), caffeine in milk can make children nervous and worry. Also, caffeine is a diuretic and you will lose the fluid your body needs to produce breast milk.
  • Some varieties of fish and seafood. It is an excellent source of proteins and Omega 3 fatty acids, but also the strongest allergens, as well as some species, can accumulate mercury from the water due to marine pollution. Eat fish and seafood such as salmon, trout, canned tuna, shrimp and avoid octopus, mussels, swordfish, sharks, mackerel, bonito, horse mackerel.
  • Chocolate, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower, legumes (beans, beans, soybeans, lentils), spicy and sour pickles. These products can provoke the formation of gases and intestinal colic.

Some breastfeeding mothers avoid spicy foods, garlic and onions, but there is no consensus on their harmfulness. Some believe that a small amount of onions in their "delicate" varieties (green, shallots) makes breast milk more palatable for babies.

If a baby develops a rash or diarrhea shortly after breastfeeding, contact your pediatrician and exclude (for about a week) from the menu the food that was eaten the day before feeding, observe the baby's condition. Nursing mothers should be careful about highly allergenic foods and drinks from them (juices, fruit drinks). Some substances through breast milk can cause allergic reactions in children (skin irritation, urticaria, edema, allergic rhinitis, etc.).

Highly allergenic foods:

  • cow's milk,
  • eggs,
  • fish,
  • peanut,
  • strawberry,
  • wheat (if the child is intolerant to gluten protein).

Write down everything you eat, record the time when you consumed a new product. Analyze how your diet affects the condition of the child.

Of course, it is not necessary to go on a very strict diet, just focus on low-allergenic and healthy foods and drinks to keep you and your baby healthy.

Any means to increase lactation, both folk and pharmacy, in no case replace "physical" measures to stimulate breastfeeding: frequent and correct breastfeeding, frequent pumping, fluid balance, as well as timely resolution of mother's health issues and a child. Additional meals, food, herbal and other teas can only supplement them. Stay healthy and successful breastfeeding!

Hello dear readers. The Internet is replete with requests on the topic: Products that increase lactation of breast milk. Wow, future and real moms, ek you wrapped. And, perhaps, he found the answer for you! Well, let's try to figure out if you need to increase lactation in general and how to do it.

Milk volume, fat content and other problems

Why do you think you don't have enough milk? Does the child not eat up, cries, often asks for a breast?

Colostrum, milk, its quantity...

The chest is soft and there is a small amount of light brown secretion? That's right, it's colostrum. In the first month after childbirth, the process of becoming lactation begins. It goes differently for everyone. And it doesn't start with milk.

After childbirth your glands do not produce milk, but colostrum. This is a nutritional concentrate, on the first day the baby needs 5 ml for feeding. Your glands produce up to 100 ml of colostrum per day, and the breast only seems empty. For the first 3 days, you will feed your baby with this invaluable concentrate.

When feeding, keep in mind that a child needs 10 ml of mature milk for each day of life. That is, on the 3rd day, for each feeding, the baby needs an average of 30 ml of milk. Of course, the amount of nutrient substance is variable and depends on the volume of the baby's stomach and its weight.

3 months150-180 1/6 of the child's weight
4 months180-210 1/6 of the child's weight
5-6 months210-240 1/7 of the child's weight (800-1000 ml)
7-12 months210-240 1/8-1/9 of the child's weight

Then, on days 4-5, colostrum is replaced by transitional milk, and only from day 6 your glands are filled with mature milk. The rate at which colostrum is replaced by mature milk varies among women. Therefore, pediatricians recommend taking your time with ways to increase lactation. Feed your baby on demand. In the first month babies should literally "hang on the chest."

Neonatologists say that a child in the first 28 days of life wants to feed from 8 to 20! once a day, and this is the norm. If your baby requires a breast every hour, this does not mean that you have little milk or that it is not high in calories.

Remember that in primiparous women Mature milk will appear 6-10 days after natural delivery.

Now about fat

Your glands may produce enough secretions, but milk may not be available fat content. How to check the fat content of milk at home, we talk in a separate article. You can also donate milk for analysis. Read about it in ours on this site.

About other problems

At a nursing mother there are many worries and there is not always experience to determine whether the right amount of secretion is contained in the glands. Obstetricians in the maternity hospital are often faced with complaints about the lack of nutrient fluid and requests to supplement the baby with formula. But having tried to evaluate the breast, they discover that the woman has plenty of milk, she just does not know how to express it, just as she cannot properly give the child a breast. We have prepared separate materials about the rules of pumping and how to properly feed your baby.

lactation after operative delivery

This is the topic of a separate article. Because lactation after cesarean has a number of features. Let's take a look at them briefly..If the operation is performed urgently before the onset of contractions, you will indeed encounter a problem with breastfeeding (LF). Because during childbirth, a woman's body produces hormones that stimulate the production of milk secretion (prolactin) and its release (oxytocin).

In the absence of contractions, the body "does not know" that the baby was born and it is time to feed him. And it will take about a week until the mechanism of lactation "disinhibits". True, in this case, we are not talking about increasing the production of milk and products that stimulate it, but about the most complete contact with the child, stimulating the nipples with a small mouth, so that signals about the need for feeding go to the brain and start the entire breastfeeding system.

If you were unable to give birth to a child due to the weakness of labor and you underwent surgery during labor, after cesarean you will feed the baby in almost the same way as after a natural birth, perhaps with a slight delay (1-2 days). This happens for 2 reasons:

  1. The sucking reflex in children after cesarean is late.
  2. Competent imprinting (imprinting or learning, in this case, imprinting the sucking reflex of a newborn, the first application of the child to the nipple) occurs in isolated cases.

It is important that you put your baby to the breast in the first 30-60 minutes after birth. This will speed up the process of secretion of nutrient fluid and fix the sucking reflex in the baby. This is important since the peak of sucking activity in children occurs 25-40 minutes after birth. At this point, you need to attach the baby to the nipple and fix the reflex important for his survival. If the baby does not take the nipple or does not suck, but he is healthy, you need to insist and give the breast until he makes at least a few sucking movements.

Women after cesarean colostrum and milk may not be produced for the first few days. But that is not a problem for the baby. You may be surprised, but a newborn is able to do without breast milk for several days (according to some reports, up to 10 days, if the “wet diaper” test is positive, that is, the baby continues to urinate). True, he will have to drink water.

About insufficient secretion

Even with natural childbirth woman 2 problems may arise:

  1. Hypolactation - a decrease in the secretion of nutrient fluid after a period of normal production. It occurs when the baby is premature, the nipple is not properly grasped, the mother is unwilling to feed the baby, as a result of the baby’s illness or feeding according to the regimen, and also due to the frequent use of nipple substitutes (nipples and mixtures).
  2. Hypogalactia - a decrease in milk production during breastfeeding.

The last one could be:

  • early (develops in the first week after delivery);
  • late (occurs after 10 days);
  • primary, develops in puerperas as a result of drug stimulation of labor (oxytocin, estrogens or prostaglandins administered artificially);
  • secondary, occurs against the background of fatigue.

Secondary hypogalactia is easy to correct for relatives and husband. Let the young mother get enough sleep, help to apply the offspring to the nipple more often, and lactation will return to normal! In other cases, you will have to work hard.

What if the milk is really low or low fat?

What to do if the milk doesn't come? It is best to seek the advice of a lactologist. He will get acquainted with the causes of the condition and develop an individual scheme for the restoration of HB processes. We will introduce you to the physiology of a nursing mother and how to use them:

  1. For the process of production (production) of milk in a nursing mother hormone responds. Its maximum amount is produced at night between 2 and 4 hours. Feed your baby during this period to stimulate lactation.
  2. Sleep with the baby for the first year of his life, do not rush to shift the baby to the arena. Co-sleeping stimulates lactation.
  3. Spend more time with your child, tune in to GW. One of the reasons for the decrease in milk secretion is the psychological unpreparedness of the mother to feed. If you thought throughout your pregnancy that breastfeeding would ruin the beauty of the bust and did not want to feed the baby, there may well be problems with the development of milk secretion. Even if, taking the crumbs in your arms, you changed your mind. Therefore, when feeding, try to be as close to the baby as possible (skin-to-skin, eye-to-eye - this is the rule of successful lactation).
  4. Try to relax, use relatives for household chores. A catastrophically sleep-deprived mother will have a nutrient deficiency.
  5. Before feeding, drink warm tea, do a light breast massage, such as warm shower jets.
  6. Feed your baby on demand. During suckling, the baby stimulates the nipple receptors and they signal to the brain that it is necessary to actively replenish the secretion of the mammary glands.
  7. Eat small, frequent meals.
  8. Consult your doctor and choose lactogenic teas and homeopathic tablets (Apilak, fennel tea).
  9. Increase the amount of fluid you drink to 2 liters per day.

Teas pretty fast help to increase the production of mammary secretion, if your physiology allows it. Remember that if your mother fed you artificially and her glands could not cope with the production of the required amount of milk, there is a risk that you are predisposed to this phenomenon.

And, finally, about products that increase the quantity and improve the quality of the secret

Food breastfeeding mothers should be:

  • fresh;
  • saturated with minerals, vitamins, proteins;
  • vegetables and fruits should prevail over meat.

What kind exactly the products help to improve the product of the mammary glands, and increase its quantity? let's get a look list.

The drinksHerbs and spicesFood
SourFennelAdyghe cheese
walnut juiceCarawayDried fruits (dried apricots, prunes, raisins, figs)
carrot juiceAniseNuts (do not eat at 1 month, causes constipation and increases blood clotting)
Freshly squeezed blackcurrant juiceNettleBuckwheat (fried in a pan and eaten as seeds or consumed as porridge)
Meat broth (not fatty)HawthornOatmeal with dried fruits or nuts
Birch sap (natural)DillSeeds
Chicory drinks with milkGinger (be careful with this product, it can cause a burning sensation in the stomach for you and the baby, you need to add quite a bit to tea)Sesame
Dairy productsOreganoHoney (be careful with this product, the child may be allergic!)

With a deficiency of milk, some mothers are recommended yeast. Agree menu with a doctor. Some foods should not be consumed by you, for example, if you suffer from increased blood clotting (nettles and nuts will increase it even more) or gastritis (in this case, be careful with ginger).

Bee products, especially honey and royal jelly, are good for health, strengthen the immune system, stimulate lactation, improve the quality of mammary secretion, but can cause allergies.

Do not forget to coordinate the rules for preparing the intake of lactogenic decoctions, infusions, tea with your doctor.

This is where we conclude our review, we hope we helped you deal with the difficulties of lactation and you will invite your friends to the site using the possibilities of social networks.

As a specialist, I can say that almost every woman who has carried and given birth to a child can and should feed him with her breast milk. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. And not only because the woman does not want to breastfeed. Some may experience hypogalactia (from the Greek hypo, low and gala, milk), or insufficient milk production by the mammary glands. Sometimes pregnant women who have heard about such a problem from friends and relatives worry about whether they can breastfeed their baby. And those young mothers whose children are not gaining enough weight usually attribute this to a lack of milk. However, experience shows that hypogalactia is not at all fatal, it can be prevented.

Why does this happen?

True (or primary) hypogalactia is rare, in no more than 5% of women, which is associated with their state of health (in particular, with serious hormonal disorders). In other cases, the lack of milk can be caused by a number of avoidable causes. We list the main ones:

  • the lack of a lactation dominant in a woman (as experts call the psychological disposition for breastfeeding);
  • poor nutrition during pregnancy and lactation;
  • unfavorable family circumstances: stress, the need to go to work, etc.;
  • rare application of the baby to the breast;
  • early and unreasonable introduction of supplementary feeding with women's milk substitutes and non-dairy complementary foods;
  • feeding the child not at the request of the baby, but according to the schedule.

How do you know if your baby is not getting enough milk?

The main symptoms of deficiency are:

  • insufficient weight gain per month;
  • decrease in the daily volume of breast milk;
  • child anxiety;
  • a symptom of "dry diapers", indicating a decrease in the daily volume of urine (a child of the first months who is breastfed should urinate at least six times a day, and the urine should be colorless or pale yellow).

But these symptoms are only indirect evidence of hypogalactia. You can finally make sure that there is really not enough milk by determining its amount per day. In practice, this is carried out using the control weighing of the baby. In this case, the baby must be weighed before and after each feeding during the day. Please note - in different feedings can eat a different amount of milk. That is why the amount eaten per day is taken into account, and not per feeding. It is important to emphasize that the main criteria for the effectiveness of breastfeeding are normal growth and development, good health of the child. There is no need to weigh the baby every day if he is doing well. This will only create unnecessary anxiety and may encourage you to make up for the apparent lack of breast milk substitute.

It is unacceptable to give a child supplementary feeding with milk mixtures only if hypogalactia is suspected without direct confirmation of this diagnosis. And even if the diagnosis is confirmed, the young mother can still "fight" for her milk. To do this, it is necessary to put the baby to the breast more often, to resort to those methods of increasing the amount of milk, which will be discussed below. In addition, in some cases, women are helped by psychological counseling.

Proper nutrition plus stimulation

Our studies have shown that among the causes of hypogalactia, a large place belongs to the food factor. Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to rationalize the nutrition of the mother. Of particular importance is the satisfaction of the need for protein-vitamin and mineral components of the diet of pregnant women and nursing mothers. You should not forget about the drinking regime - from 1.5 to 2 liters per day, including liquid diet meals. It may be necessary to prescribe lactogenic, i.e. increasing the production of milk, foods and drinks, physiotherapeutic procedures and medications, vitamin and mineral components, dietary supplements 1.

We list industrial products that can stimulate lactation. We conditionally divided specialized products into five groups (see table).

I group. Preparations that correct the diet for the main nutritional factors, especially for protein of animal origin, fats, the whole range of minerals, trace elements and multivitamins.

"Femilak" contains milk protein, enriched with a particularly important substance - taurine, present in women's milk, 15 vitamins, corn oil. The use of the Femilac product during pregnancy has a positive effect on the health of the expectant mother and the proper development of the fetus, and during breastfeeding, it contributes to sufficient lactation and improves the composition of mother's milk. "Enfa-Mama", "Dumil Mama Plus" are similar products, but they do not contain taurine. Nursing mothers also successfully use the domestic product "Olympic", created for athletes. "Olympic" is a dry fortified mixture based on soy protein.

II group. Products that correct the diet and are enriched with a lactogenic supplement.

This group includes a new product for breastfeeding mothers "Milky Way", developed by "Vitaprom" LLC together with the State Research Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. It consists of dry whole skimmed cow's milk, soy protein solate, sugar, chicory, galega herb extract, dietary fiber, vitamins, mineral salts.

Galega herb extract is a powerful lactogenic factor. Clinical studies have shown that the product is well tolerated by nursing mothers and infants. The product effectively enhances the lactation function of a nursing mother. It can be used from the first days of lactation by women who are at risk for hypogalactia (slow "start" of lactation, early transfer to previous children).

III. Vegetable products with lactogenic properties, in the form of juices, drinks, teas.

Among the plants that enhance lactation, a large role is assigned to food and spicy-flavoring. These include carrots, licorice, lettuce, radish, cumin, dill, nettle, dandelion, fennel, oregano, lemon balm, anise, yarrow, rosehip, hazelnut and others. Infusions, decoctions are prepared from these plants, which are taken in the form of drinks.

Drinks for breastfeeding women

carrot juice . Washed with a brush, grate the carrots on a fine grater, squeeze the juice and drink half a glass at a time 2-3 times a day. To improve the taste, milk, cream, honey and fruit and berry juices are added to carrot juice. Additions should not be very large (1-2 tablespoons per glass of juice) so as not to reduce the effect of carrot juice.

Carrots grated with milk . In a glass, put 3-4 tablespoons of grated carrots, pour milk (or cream) and drink a glass 2-3 times a day. In the evening, you can add 1-2 teaspoons of honey to the drink - to relieve nervous tension and have a good night's sleep.

Lettuce Seed Drink . Lettuce seeds have the most pronounced milk-producing effect. To prepare a drink, take 20 g of seeds, carefully crush them in a porcelain mortar and pour 1 cup of boiling water. Insist 2-3 hours and drink 2-3 times a day for half a cup at the reception. To improve the taste, you can add 1-2 teaspoons of honey to a glass of boiling water.

caraway drink . To prepare 1 liter of drink, take 15 g of cumin seeds, 100 g of sugar, a medium-sized lemon or 2 g of citric acid. All ingredients are poured with water, boiled over low heat for 5-10 minutes, filtered and drunk half a cup 2-3 times a day.

Cream 10-15% with cumin . Pour 2 cups of cream into a ceramic pot, add 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds, close the lid and place in the oven for languishing (with low heat) for 30-40 minutes. Cool to room temperature; drink for breakfast and dinner. Drink half a glass for breakfast and dinner.

Caraway kvass . Rye bread, cut into small pieces, dried, lightly fried, poured with water and left for 3-4 hours. After that, the infusion is filtered, yeast, sugar, cumin are added and put in a warm place for fermentation for 10-12 hours.
For 1 kg of black bread - 40 g of cumin, 500 g of sugar, 25 g of yeast, 10 liters of water.

Dill Seed Infusion . One tablespoon of dill seeds is poured with water (1 glass), insisted for 2 hours. Take an infusion of half a glass 2 times a day or a tablespoon 6 times a day, depending on tolerance. Drink in small sips, hold for a while in the mouth.

Anise infusion . Prepare from 2 teaspoons of seeds to a glass of boiling water. Insist 1 hour. After cooling, drink 2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day for 30 minutes. before meals.

Anise, fennel and oregano drink . Mix 10 g of crushed anise fruits, 10 g of fennel fruits and 10 g of oregano herb. One teaspoon of the mixture is poured with a glass of boiling water, insisted for 2 hours. Drink half a glass at the reception 2-3 times a day.

Radish juice with honey , diluted (1:1) with chilled boiled water and lightly salted. For 100 g of radish take 100 g of boiled water.

This group also includes special teas and enriched juices.

IV. Biologically active additives (BAA).

We have tested dietary supplements created by Leovit nutrio on the basis of the life product of bees and spicy-flavoring plants - Apilactin and Laktogon. Dietary supplements were prescribed to nursing mothers at risk for hypogalactia (drug "Apilactin") and mothers from the same group, but with a aggravated obstetric history ("Laktogon").

"Apilaktin" contains "Apilak" (royal jelly and pollen); "Laktogon" - royal jelly and a number of spicy-flavoring plants with a known lactogenic effect (oregano, carrot juice, ginger, nettle, dill). The effect of the use of the above dietary supplements was very successful - when using Apilactin, 80% of mothers continued to breastfeed after discharge from the hospital, and when using Lactogon, 90% of mothers. The only contraindication to the use of these drugs is intolerance to bee products.

V. Vitamin and mineral complexes. They are prescribed from the second half of pregnancy and during lactation as drugs that correct the diet and stimulate lactation.

With insufficient effect of the listed food products for the prevention and treatment of hypogalactia, it is necessary to use drug treatment. In this case, first of all, it is necessary to find out the cause of low lactation and try to stop or weaken its effect. Of the medications for hypogalactia, vitamins, trace elements, sedatives, hormones, methods of physiotherapy and other means are recommended.

In addition to medical methods, homeopathic remedies can be effective in combination with improved nutrition. Like other drugs, they are prescribed by a doctor.

How and when are the remedies described above used? It should be emphasized that the application of each of them has its own specifics.

The use of products of groups I and IV is recommended for women at risk for hypogalactia from the second half of pregnancy and from the beginning of lactation. Group II products, which have the most active lactogenic properties, are recommended for mothers with reduced lactation in the maternity hospital and during lactation crises. Group III products are also used for lactation crises.

In conclusion, it should be said about the results of our observations of a group of 500 women who experienced difficulty with lactation. If of those women who somehow stimulated lactation, 80% breast-fed children for up to 4-6 months, then women who did not resort to stimulating drugs managed to maintain lactation by this time only in 20% of cases.

Thus, we are convinced that continuous breastfeeding is a manageable process. Breastfeeding women have many opportunities to maintain lactation and thereby improve the health of their child. It is very important that the mother is convinced of the need for breastfeeding and that she is supported in this by family members and medical personnel who monitor the health of the child and mother during this period.

1 Biologically active additives are components of natural or natural-identical biologically active substances intended for direct intake or addition to ordinary food for the purpose of enrichment.

Discussion

Oksyunya, it's strange of course. Apilak helped me a lot and I think it’s only thanks to him that I kept my breast milk and still feed my daughter. Plus, of course, I forbade myself to be nervous about this, and drank a lot of warm liquids, tea, various compotes. And everything quickly returned to its place)))

And my salvation is Leptaden! I already have two mothers on the site who restored their lactation after my urgent advice. I tried it on myself. And it was like this: I got nervous, and the milk disappeared, it burned right down. The doctor immediately told me - Leptaden, type, he is the best. It helped in two days, there was enough milk. And, thank God, there were no side effects, because we are terrible allergic people

Two months ago, I also had a lactation crisis. Honestly, I was even scared. do not starve the little one! I took warm tea with condensed milk, three or four times a day a warm shower, and Leptaden, on the advice of my doctor, 2 tablets 2 times a day. Milk recovered in two days. And that was very little.

Apilak did not help, I have an allergy to it, a terrible rash. Although the drug is good. But leptaden personally suited me better. I also drank black tea with milk and ate nuts on the advice of a doctor. Walnuts. Milk recovered in two days.

And I had a real postpartum depression ... Nothing worked, I didn’t have time anywhere, I felt constant total fatigue. At first I thought it would go away on its own, but it didn't. As a result, I could not do without the help of a doctor, I was prescribed Apilak, prescribed a drinking regimen and corrected my diet. The problem was solved literally in a week and a half - the mood really improved and lactation returned to normal.

I had a lactation crisis last month. It's a nightmare of course, especially if it's the first time. But as they say, "the eyes are afraid, the hands do." Immediately she began to drink a lot of liquids, she almost did not let the child out of her hands for two days. And he slept with me with his breast in his mouth. So that he would not yell and not be tempted to supplement. Plus saw Apilak. And on the third day I already felt that there was more milk, the child began to sleep more, well, in general, it was clear that he began to eat up. It's hard, but you can do it.

I also fed the child only on demand, it happened that I could not stand it for two hours. Over time, there was less and less milk. I tried to drink vitamins, but our allergies went, at first a little, and then more and more. Then she consulted doctors, prescribed dry mixtures, by the way, there are some in the article. But somehow I didn’t risk it because we are allergic. I just drank tea to stimulate lactation lactaphytol. There the composition is what you need (cumin, anise and dill with nettle), it was enough for me.

But I didn't have enough milk. Despite all the measures, supplementary feeding was introduced after 1 month. A friend advised Lactamil. Super thing!!! And lactation has increased, and you do not need to drink additional vitamins. I began to feel better, the state of "squeezed lemon" is finally gone. Now GV for me and my daughters is just a pleasure.

Indeed, in order to have more milk, it is necessary to give the baby a breast on demand. How surprising are mothers who rarely want to breastfeed, and then complain: "I don't have enough milk."))

Council of Elena Kl. Surprised - someone does otherwise?
It seems to me that the key to sufficient milk production is a baby who is often applied to the breast and a large amount of liquid that the mother drinks. I made sure to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, preferably warm drinks.
I liked to drink rosehip infusion, dried fruit compote, Heinz instant tea with fennel. The latter is also as a replacement for a plantex for a child.

my first daughter was born at the 33rd week of pregnancy and spent almost the entire first month after birth in a children's hospital. there was very little milk - 100 ml. per day, but I decided for myself that I would only breastfeed. after discharge, the child did not perceive the breast at all, because she was fed from the nipple. We learned together: I feed, properly apply, she sucks at the breast. I took "lactogon" - a very good remedy, "apilac" will be weaker. she drank tea with milk and made herbal teas herself: nettle + oregano, nettle + cumin, nettle + dill or fennel. brewed them in thermoses and drank very hot before and during feeding. slept on the applicator (like Kuznetsov, only metal). the struggle was not in vain - she fed for up to a year, then the child switched to juices, but the milk was preserved for another year and a half. maybe don’t scold the author of the article, she wrote everything very correctly.

16.02.2010 16:58:38, Elena Orlova

I fed two children up to a year old, while due to a breast burn (the fault of the nurse in the maternity hospital), I fed the second child for 2 weeks with a formula until the burn passed, purposefully reduced the milk to nothing (so as not to feed until the nipples healed), as the burn passed canceled all mixtures in order to restore the volume of milk to the desired norm for the child. Now I am a grandmother and I know that if I wish, without giving birth to a child, I will be able to feed my grandson. Milk comes only from a strong desire to feed and confidence in this. One mother here correctly said that milk is formed not in the breast, but in the head. What I want to say: after three months, the baby stops pouring milk from the breast, sometimes it seems to be absent at all (it really is not there: the breast is empty and it seems to you that all breastfeeding is over. In fact, the breast after three (everyone is different) stops producing large amounts of milk for months and moves on to the amount of milk needed for the baby (some stop pumping altogether) Breast is empty, you press the baby, talk affectionately with him, persuade him, he sucks, sucks and (oh, miracle) milk suddenly begins to flow the river is exactly as much until the baby is full. So if it seems to you that there is no milk, then it means absolutely nothing. Maybe you subconsciously do not want to feed the baby and the brain when the baby sucks does not send a signal. know and feel this approach of milk, this feeling in the chest.Catch and wait for it while the baby is sucking.And one more thing - if you go to the country house (village) and spend the whole day in the open air you will see how your milk will increase. The main thing is the desire to feed: the baby is calm when breastfed, calm, and you can go anywhere with him without remembering all sorts of bottles.

Girls, regular washing of the external genitalia helps me increase the volume of breast milk. Good luck
