A box for storing garden tools with your own hands. How to store garden tools

Most often, the summer resident's garden tools occupy the entire usable area of the barn: "the storage space is meter by meter, and everything is lined with shovels, choppers and rakes - you can't get through." Let's see how the most accurate and organized FORUMHOUSE users have arranged the storage of shovels and rakes, trimmers and other devices.

Do-it-yourself garden tool stand

It is easy to make such a stand with your own hands. First, calculate how many cells you will need to store your shovels and flat cutters. Nail the crossbars 40 centimeters long and 6 centimeters wide to two boards: one on top, the other on the bottom. The boards should be in the center of the crossbars. Make a lower box (it is needed both for the stability of the structure and for fixing the inventory in the cells). Supports, boards 70 centimeters high are nailed from the ends to the box and the grate.

If you are too lazy to make a stand, you can buy it: plastic racks for storing equipment with long cuttings of various diameters are sold in many gardening stores.

Some, by the way, use upturned beer crates, insert shovels, pitchforks, etc. into it.

All these coasters do not take up much space, but they do take up some. Therefore, many users of our portal prefer a different approach to organizing the storage of shovels and flat cutters: when some special space is not created, but existing walls and ceilings are used. To do this, holes are made on all the cuttings and laces are tied to hang on nails under the ceiling, special semicircular devices for storing hoses and extension cords, etc. are nailed to the walls.

Moscow.

I recommend mastering not only the floor surfaces, but also, if possible, hanging the tools on the walls. Through the block it is very convenient to lift bicycles during storage, you can also hang chainsaws, garden vacuum cleaners, gas and electric trimmers on various hooks.

"Grip" for the trimmer

TigraOSP figured out how to store a gas trimmer - a thing "very horny to store." The device of the shelf in the store prompted him to decide: there should be such a protrusion of two “bars” with a semicircle at the end, similar to a grip for a Russian stove for a cast iron. The hook-shaped hanger was welded to the size of the trimmer, put on a rubber hose to avoid scratches on the trimmer, and nailed almost to the ceiling.

TigraOSP FORUMHOUSE user

Hanging and not noticeable, just class. He came up, took the shaft, lifted it, took it out of the grip, and here it is yours.

Organizers for garden tools

We will show you several examples of counteracting chaos, allowing you to keep garden equipment in excellent condition for a long time, brought to life by the users of our portal.

Pirmid built a shed and set up a special compartment in it with a separate entrance for entrenching tools and other small things for the garden. “After a futile attempt to fish out of a twisted pile of pitchforks, this design was born.”

na zzz also arranged a small room for storing garden tools and tools. The staples are from a hardware store, the bars, hooks, and drawers from a hardware store.
Now storing shovels in the barn on a hanger looks like this:

Here is another inspiring example - a rack for shovels and rakes:

PVC pipe niches

FORUMHOUSE User Limmpopo offers such an option for storing inventory: all garden "adapters" stand on the line in special niches made of PVC pipes.

Everyone liked the idea: simple, but how beautiful! But - not so convenient. To insert a shovel or rake into such a rack, they need to be raised almost to the ceiling. FORUMHOUSE has improved this know-how: a cut is made in the side of the pipe, which, by the way, will allow you to insert a tool with a handle on the handle into the rack. You can make something like a fastener: cut a strip from a plastic bottle, fix one side of it motionlessly on the wall, and make a hole in the other. He put the tool against the wall - "fasten the loop into a carnation on the second wall."

Another idea, for really pedants: make notches at the bottom, limiters from the sewer with a diameter of 50 millimeters, and put the tools not upside down, but with the working edge down. Then exactly, as if by a string, they will stand not only in the picture, but also in reality. By the way, you can try to make such racks from plastic bottles.

Here's how else you can store any garden tools on long cuttings in the country. The simplest do-it-yourself stand: two brackets, one is tied with a string with a carnation at the end - an invention Anna Sokolova. Tools neatly stand in a corner, do not get underfoot, and are easily removed as needed. And best of all, they take up very little space!

Storage of small tools

It is convenient to store small garden tools in these bags:

Or hang it on metal rails with hooks (they are more reliable and cheaper than plastic coasters).

And here is just a brilliant design idea: small garden tools, all these shovels and rippers are suspended by the teeth of old rakes, which, in turn, are suspended from a carnation driven into the wall.

Room for garden tools

In general, the storage system for garden tools is highly dependent on the room. It's one thing if you have at your disposal half a garage or a change house specially built for this purpose, and another thing if all you and your tools have is a corner under the stairs measuring a meter by a meter. “First, the premises, then bringing beauty and convenience to the placement of such buckets, shovels, pitchforks, rakes, etc. that we need,” they say at FORUMHOUSE. Yes, at Stella777 there is a separate room for storing tools - a continuation of the kitchen, but with a separate entrance. Stella777 she sheathed the walls with clapboard, varnished, bought hooks and shelves in hardware stores and now has “order and a free approach to tools.”

Another important point: before putting the tool back in place, most FORUMHOUSE users clean it or wash it. If you clean the shovel even after simply digging the ground, wash the flat cutter under a tap or in a bucket of water, over time you will develop a wonderful habit of keeping your working tool in order.

We offer you our article about unusual, but effective, a video about novelties in the market of garden tools, a discussion on the topic: "garden tools: what to choose."

Ecology of consumption. Homestead: If you feel that finding the right rakes is taking too long or you are just thinking about demolishing an old barn that is causing more trouble than it's worth. everything is piled up inside it - it's time to think about building the "right" barn. But how it should be, and will be discussed further.

If you feel that finding the right rakes is taking too long or you are just thinking about demolishing an old barn that is more trouble than it is worth, because everything is piled up inside it - it's time to think about building the "right" barn. But how it should be, and will be discussed further.

And for starters, it should be noted that a barn or other construction for garden tools can not only fulfill its direct function of a banal storage - if you attach a little imagination, a "rake house" can even become an ornament to your garden plot.

Storing "high" inventory

It makes sense to divide your tools into several categories and create their own little storage for each of them, based on their shape and purpose. For example, to store such equipment as shovels, rakes and other long-handled tools, you can make a tall and narrow shed that resembles a telephone booth in dimensions. In such a booth, its contents will not constantly fall on your feet (or on your head), but the right tool can be easily found right away.

You can make such a shed "from scratch" - from boards and pieces of slate for the roof, and then paint it in some bright, eye-pleasing color. Or not to knock together, but to "compose" a barn like a puzzle, for example, from four old doors. If at least one of them is with glazing elements, you can inspect the presence of the necessary tool inside without even opening the shed.

If you do not want to make storage for rakes and shovels separately, you should allocate a special place for them in a large shed by making special devices screwed to one of the walls.

In this option, you only need to create an individual mount for each available tool. If the length and height of the wall allows you to place the entire collection, then you definitely won’t lose anything else.

If you decide to make a longitudinal storage system, then a (polyvinyl chloride) plastic pipe of the required diameter, sawn into the required number of pieces, may be suitable as "pocket" holders. If you choose a transverse system (tool shafts parallel to the floor), then wood may also work.

But in general, if you have a plastic pipe, then from it you can create a storage system for almost anything - from pencils, pliers and screwdrivers, up to drills and screwdrivers.

You can also transfer small garden tools (and, in principle, almost any tool in general) to a vertical storage plane. To do this, you need to drive carnations into the surface of the wall and make hooks on which even coiled hoses can be hung. If inside the barn (in our weather conditions it is still better to store inventory inside) you have walls made of logs and therefore uneven, then you can take an inverted wooden pallet as a flat base and attach the necessary hooks to it. Then, among other things, you can take out the entire structure for the duration of garden work outside.

Well, if you don’t want to do anything special, but there are free pallets, then you can simply put the pallet vertically against the wall and use it as a stand, for example, for shovels. Just do not forget to make sure the stability of the structure. You may still have to attach it to the wall.

Storing smaller items

For storing bags of fertilizer or other items that you need a little less often, it makes sense to use plastic containers. This is nothing new, unless, of course, you decide to hang them from the ceiling. This will significantly save you such valuable space in the barn. If the ceiling height allows, you can build special "rails" there and remove a lot from the aisle.

This principle is also applicable to the storage of any little things - nuts, screws, cloves, and so on. To quickly find what you need, they can be poured into glass jars. And so that the lid from this jar is not lost, screw it to the bottom surface of some shelf, or even the ceiling of the barn.

If there is a problem with the fact that small items are mixed, then you can build a special sorting box, following the example of a toy for very young children.

It is quite possible to combine several of the above ideas and make an outdoor, as compact mini-shed as possible, which will not take up much space and at the same time contain what you need.

garden work table

For various small gardening and chores like replanting potted plants or preparing fertilizer, you can build a table that allows you to do everything in comfort without bending over.

You can make it, like everything else, from scratch according to your own sketch, or you can build it from an old bench, an old table, a pallet, an outdated door. For greater convenience, install a piece of metal mesh from the fence on your desktop as a back wall, on which, among other things, you can hang small inventory.

As you can see, you can come up with a lot of ideas - the main thing is to start. What do you want! published

The dacha is an outlet for many urban residents who are tired of routine work and a noisy metropolis. But here, as in a city apartment, it is important to properly organize storage systems. We have prepared 10 practical and stylish ideas that will help you keep your garden tools in order.

1. Old fence

At the cottage, old things get a second life. Like, for example, this well-served fragment of a fence. It can no longer be used as a fence, but it can turn into an organizer for storing garden tools. At the same time, it will successfully complement the exterior.

2. Roof rails

The traditional place for using roof rails is in the kitchen. It turns out that they can serve as holders of small garden tools in the country. They are good because they can be mounted on the door in the utility room or shed, in the closet or even on the fence.

3. Pallets

Wooden pallets are renowned for their versatility. They make coffee tables, beds, tables, headboards, decorate the interior with them. They can also be used in the country, especially for overall tools. One has only to put the pallet upright and put shovels, hoes and rakes into it. To prevent such a storage system from tipping over, it is best to fix it with nails to the wall.

4. Organizer board

The so-called pegboard has already taken its place in home offices, kitchens and garages. It is convenient because it has many holes, and it is easy to attach small garden tools to it. The board does not take up much space, it is easy to repaint it in any color, and it is also mobile and weighs little - just remove it from the wall and move it to another place, if necessary.

5. Hooks

Hooks are perhaps the easiest and fastest option that does not require much cost or effort. It is enough to install the required number of hooks on the wall and place inventory on them. When purchasing hooks from a hardware store, look out for special double holders for gardening tools. So, rakes, pruners, shovels and other tools will always be at hand and in order.

6. Door

If garden tools are used very often, then you can take a place for him right on the street. For these purposes, it is convenient to use a fence or a door that is not in use. At the top, equip one or more shelves for flower pots and every little thing. At the middle level, organize the storage of small garden tools (pruners, scissors, scoops). In order to secure them, it is enough to drive in a few nails instead of hooks. Here you can hang a few overall shovels or lower them to a lower level.

7. Small bags

In the design of apartments, special textile or polyethylene organizers are often used to store small items. They are usually hung on doors or in closets. This handy device will come in handy in the country. It will fit gloves, scissors, pruners, scoops - everything you need to care for flowers.

8. Plastic and metal containers

In the country, plastic and metal containers will not be superfluous. It is most convenient to fix them on the wall or hide under the table. They can neatly distribute tools and household items of medium size.

9. Flower pots

There is one convenient device that allows you not to lose small inventory in the garden (and then not waste time looking for it). This is a flower pot with sand or gravel. One has only to fix scoops or secateurs in it, and they will always be in sight.

10. Rake

If you have a rake that is no longer used for its intended purpose and just lying around in the barn, you can make a hanger for small garden tools from them. For convenience, it is necessary to fix it at the level of the elbows, so as not to bend over the inventory too low or not to reach for it.

The summer season is in full swing - it's time to explore ingenious gardening solutions in our special review, where we have collected.

Searching for anything is always a waste of time. A mess in a barn, in a pantry, or, as you know, causes a lot of inconvenience - everyone knows this, who at least once, absolutely truly stepped on his own favorite rake. We suggest starting general cleaning and putting things in perfect order with a rack for garden tools, which is easy to make with your own hands.

And right now, when the summer season is already over, it's probably time to start building such garden tool storage rack. If we were talking about storing a rake, a shovel, and one or two scissors, the mess would not be worth worrying about. All problems would be solved by hanging a couple of hooks on the wall. But the garden tool is not limited, fortunately, only to these items. Fortunately - because the numerous variety of special garden tools makes most work in the country a pleasure. That is why we often cannot resist buying one or another expensive, but such a necessary tool.

As a rule, these tools are used quite rarely and as a result they often “disappear” somewhere. And at the most inopportune moment - just when they are so needed. Now, if each of them had their own, strictly designated place ...

We bring to your attention several different hangers, holders and racks for storing garden tools. Or just a shelving unit for storing all garden equipment and tools. Some of them are designed to store tools with different types of handles, others were designed to store a strictly specific tool. All holders for such a rack are easy to make from planks and scraps of boards. A solid board hanger can be fixed horizontally along the wall. The width of the board should not exceed 15 cm, so as not to visually clutter up the room.

Deep Cut Wooden Tool Rack

Surely in the box with scraps you can find a board 10 cm wide. Let's make a tool hanger out of it. Make in it with a hacksaw and U-shaped cutouts with a diameter of 35 mm. The distance between the cutouts of 15 cm will be practical. The third part of the width of the board is left empty in order to glue the patch strip under it. This plank is screwed directly to the wall.

There are many ways to keep the tools from falling out. To the left and right of the slots, you can screw in screws and pull on a rubber strip (left), attach a hook (center), or attach a rotating bar between the slots (right). In a horizontal position, it fixes the tools, and in a vertical position it releases.

The tree will endure

Everything ingenious is simple! Wooden pegs are a great solution for our hanger. They can be used to store a shovel with a T-handle, an electric extension cable and pruning shears. Pegs diameter - 15 mm. Their edges are best rounded slightly with sandpaper.

Support base for tools with long shafts - shovels, pitchforks, rakes, etc.

Attachment for secateurs and scissors

This holder is suitable for tools with a wide base. The board is fixed with two screws. The width of the board and the distance to the wall are determined based on the size of the inventory. In a similar way, a mount for a pruner is also made. In this case, the attached board is wider and is fixed with four screws, which ensures that the scissors are held firmly.

Railing with hooks is always useful

Small objects, as well as tools with handles, can be conveniently hung on hooks. The railing for this purpose is made from a shovel handle and two wooden blocks. The edges of the pads need to be beveled and sanded. Then, one blind hole of the appropriate diameter is drilled from the inside, the handle is glued in and the railing is screwed into place.

Ax in a case

The third option for making a tool holder from scraps of boards is a place for an ax. The intermediate board has a triangular shape to securely fasten the ax.

Each handle - a pipe

Clever holders free up space and create order. This holder consists of boards and pipes.

Holes for pipes (40 mm) are cut at a distance of 25 cm from each other with a hacksaw, and the recesses in the main board are made with a Forstner drill. The planks located below are glued, and the boards are screwed to the wall - first the bottom, then the top.

Everything is at your fingertips on the desktop

A couple of boards are enough for the desktop to have shelves. If the wood is impregnated with a protective compound, then the table can remain outside throughout the year.

It only takes half a day to make. True, for successful work, an assistant is simply needed.

First, the boards are screwed to opposite sides of the table, after which it will stand steadily. Then install the remaining four boards to form a right angle. Holes for tools are pre-cut. For inventory with long handles, it is necessary to provide individual, more spacious places. Consider their location in advance.

If you don’t have time or it’s difficult to make a tool storage rack, then, of course, you can always buy ready-made fixtures for inventory, which are quite a lot in garden and hardware stores. Here are some examples.

With the onset of heat, gardeners and gardeners take out tools and a variety of household equipment from sheds and pantries. In the midst of spring work, everything that a summer resident needs should be at his fingertips. There is a constant need for shovels, rakes, shovels, pitchforks and secateurs. On the one hand, they need to be as close as possible to the place of work. On the other hand, I don’t want the neat view of the site to be disturbed by objects scattered around! There is only one way out: you need to determine and equip a place for summer storage of tools. Yes, and in winter they also have to be put somewhere in order to fully meet the new summer season.

The aesthetics of open space will not be violated if you use one of the proposed ideas for convenient storage of tools. Everything you need will be at your fingertips, but not in front of your eyes.

Space under a terrace or porch

If at the stage of designing a house you provide for even a slightly raised or, consider that you have already determined the place for shovels and rakes. It is enough that the structure is at least half a meter from the surface of the earth. The greater the distance from the ground and the length of the same terrace, the wider your options.

The free space under the terrace is well organized. Even the steps of the stairs are converted into drawers that can store a wide variety of little things.

You can simply close the space by providing it with an aesthetic door. You will get an original barn, which, by the way, will additionally strengthen the terrace. If there is not too much space under the porch, it is better to limit yourself to drawers, turning the side of the porch into a kind of chest of drawers. In this case, the design should be chosen according to your own taste, it is only important that it matches the general style of the buildings.

Another option for creating a utility room under the terrace of the house. It can accommodate not only garden tools, but also a bicycle, for example, or a small boat

A garden bench would work too.

As a rule, no one is particularly interested in the space under the garden benches. And we will fix it and will not let it be empty. Let instead of the usual bench we will have a box in which we will put the tools.

At the same time, the general aesthetics of the site will not suffer in any way, but the space under the bench, where it is so difficult to mow the grass, will be put into action. Secateurs, shovels and hoses can be stored directly next to where they will be used.

This bench does not look like a storage for tools, but it is used that way. Outwardly similar to a fashionable sofa, it is multifunctional

We build a special box

Now let's do it differently. First, we will calculate the box with what parameters we need so that all the inventory can easily fit there, and then we will think about what other functions it could perform on our site.

Such a wooden box will definitely find some other useful application in the household. For example, you can grow seedlings on it or use it in the gazebo as a dining table.

Let's say we make a container with sliding shelves or with a hinged lid, or even a combined structure in which the boxes are located below, and the space for shovels, rakes and choppers is on top. It turns out a rather voluminous structure, which can be used as a table for growing seedlings, a lounger or a place for children's games.

Original design in the form of an obelisk

A decorative detail on the exterior of your home can be a very useful structure at the same time. It would never occur to anyone that brooms and shovels are located right here, this design looks so neat and natural.

Who would have thought that in such a neat and inconspicuous hiding place the owner hides shovels, shovels and rods? Yes, there is also an air conditioner hidden in the lower part of the obelisk.

The lower part of the container can be occupied, for example, by an air conditioner, and tools with long handles will be placed on top. You can also put fishing tackle here, which also needs storage space.

For the essentials

However, not all garden tools are large. Sometimes we need little things like secateurs, skeins of twine, gloves, shovels and pegs. Where to put all this, so as not to look for a long time? For them, a birdhouse should be built on a stand corresponding to the growth of the gardener.

This is a real illustration of the expression "everything is at hand." The board is intended for information that the gardener must not forget. For example, dates of vaccinations can be marked here.

It can be an independent storage or an original addition to a large utility room. In any case, in such a "house" every little thing will lie in its place. And just write down the necessary information with chalk on the board on the inside of the door.

We use suspended structures

Various supports are often used for climbing flowering plants, cucumbers and grapes. On their vertical surfaces, it is easy to make some kind of hook-type fasteners. With their help, it will be possible to hang all the equipment that is unnecessary at the moment. In fact, it is at the same time in plain sight, but it is either not noticeable, or it will look neat enough.

Take a good look at the pillars, because the inventory placed on them is actually almost invisible

If the climate in your area is dry, this method of temporary storage is very useful. If it often rains, then you can stuff hooks on the wall of any outbuilding, which is reliably protected by an overhanging roof. However, you can transform the entire outer surface of the wall into a kind of organizer. We will talk about its construction below.

Aesthetic cylindrical posts

If during the construction process you still have scraps of metal or polypropylene pipes, do not rush to part with them. Having fixed them in a quiet corner somewhere behind the house or behind the gazebo, you can store all the tools with handles in them. Each item has its own place, which makes it easier to access it later.

The only thing that is alarming in this way of storing inventory is the forks, the sharp teeth of which are directed upwards. It remains only to hope that this design will be located in compliance with safety regulations.

We make a shelf with our own hands

There are a lot of ways to make a simple do-it-yourself tool shelf. We bring to your attention one of them. For the base of the shelf, we need one board over 1 meter long and 40 mm thick. In addition, we will prepare the remains of boards, planks, as well as identical triangular plywood trimmings.

We take plywood triangles and on each of them we cut out a groove with an electric jigsaw corresponding to the board that we prepared for the base of the shelf. We fasten the trimming strips to the triangles with self-tapping screws, cut off their edges. Now each triangle is a console.

This shelf is easy to make: it makes no sense to buy new materials to create it, you can use those left over from previous construction work

Using self-tapping screws, we fix each console on the base board so that shovels, rakes and other tools can be hung up with the working part up. Between the consoles should be inserted trimming boards or chipboard. This will give the overall structure the necessary rigidity.

I must say that the finished design is quite heavy. To fix such a shelf to the wall, you need an assistant who will support it. If the master works alone, then it is easier for him to initially fix the base board, and only then screw the consoles and elements that provide rigidity to it.

The only difficulty is the weight of the shelf itself, which will be a problem if you have to fix it to the wall alone, but in this case there is a way out

Another option involves fixing the finished structure with one large nail, and then the final installation with self-tapping screws. In their locations, through holes can be made in advance. The resulting simple shelf collects the entire basic inventory.

Garden organizer made easy

For a simple garden organizer, we do not need extra effort and significant financial costs. Everything is pretty simple!

We will need four edged boards 25 mm thick. They need to be prepared for work - trimmed. The figure shows where the holes will be placed on the two boards. Let's mark them. Using a feather drill, we will make holes according to a preliminary basting and, then, with an electric jigsaw or a simple hacksaw, cut out the side cuts.

There is nothing complicated in assembling such an organizer. The message of the simple process is reflected in sufficient detail in these figures.

We connect the boards in pairs with self-tapping screws to get two L-shaped structures. Now we have two vertical posts. We choose the wall on which our organizer will be placed. Let it be, for example, the outer wall of any outbuilding. Racks need to be screwed to it parallel to each other at a smaller distance than the length of the shovel handle.

Why not brag about such a worthy result of work? It's always nice when the tools are kept in order. With a clean inventory and work will be more fun

The work is over. It remains only to place all the inventory in the organizer and be glad that it will always be in order.

When the summer season is over

When the cold sets in and the work in the country is curtailed, it's time to conserve the tools that have served us faithfully and send it to storage. If we follow all the rules, in the spring we will not have to spend money on buying a new one. Spring costs are already high.

We send gardening equipment for storage

All shovels, choppers, rakes and other gardening tools should be mothballed. We will carry out their initial inspection and repair everything that has managed to break down during the working season. Dirt and rust must be removed. Cleaning is best done with a wire brush or spatula. Lubricate the cutting edge and metal surfaces with oil.

Do not leave tools dirty and unlubricated for the winter. All the same, in the spring you yourself will have to do the same work. And in the spring, as you yourself know, there are a lot of things to do without it

It is necessary to sharpen the blades of the lopper and pruner. To remove notches on the blade of a lopper or garden saw, use a file. A pruner for the same purpose is better suited to a grindstone. You also need to take care of the wooden handles. They are also thoroughly cleaned, after which they are generously lubricated with ordinary sunflower or linseed oil. Soaked in this way, the handles will not dry out and will last a long time.

Particular attention should be paid to the fertilizer sprayer. It is cleaned, thoroughly washed and dried. All levers and fixtures of the device are thoroughly lubricated with machine oil. Release the hoses from the remnants of water, roll into a ring and hang on the wall. They should only be kept indoors.

Rules for storing electrical equipment

A well-equipped suburban area cannot do without electromechanical equipment. In preparing it for winter, the following steps are necessary:

  • draining all excess fuel;
  • engine oil change;
  • checking the presence of fasteners (brackets, plugs, screws) and making up for the actual shortage.

Require mandatory check and power cords. If the integrity is broken, it is better to change them for new ones. The trimmer head is cleaned, washed and dried. Mower knives are sharpened and lubricated. Both the electric shears and the grass chopper need cleaning. All knives, metal parts and movable swivel joints of various units must be cleaned and lubricated.

Any electromechanical devices need careful maintenance. But the life of a gardener and gardener is greatly facilitated if he has them and is in good condition.

In no case should the tool be left where it can get wet with rain or snow. Even moisture from fog negatively affects its operational properties. The ideal place for storage would be a special utility room. If there is no such room, a workshop or even a pantry in the house will do. Carefully conserved garden tools will successfully survive the period of lack of demand and will not let their owners down in the spring.
