How to put a grid on a plastic window. Summer

With the advent of heat, hordes of insects are reborn to life and one cannot live without mosquito nets. Only they are able to protect the premises from the ubiquitous insects. And then some specimens manage to seep somewhere. But since the grids are for some reason very short-lived, they have to be replaced, then repaired. You won’t call a company representative every time and pay pretty decent money for work that takes a couple of tens of minutes at most. That is why they are trying to make / repair / install a mosquito net with their own hands.

Types of mosquito nets

There are three types of mosquito net:

As you can see, there are many types. Nevertheless, in 90% of cases frame structures are installed. At a low price, they create a completely normal level of comfort.

Types of fastening frame nets

Most often, frame mosquito nets are installed. There are two ways to fasten them: Z-brackets and rods (plungers).

Different ways to install a mosquito stack

When mounted on brackets, they are mounted from the side of the street. In most cases, this is convenient and, if circumstances permit, this installation method is chosen. In this case, the dimensions of the grid should be greater than the light gap of the window sash: the frame is inserted from the outside.

When using plungers, the mesh is also attached behind the glass, but the clamps (rods) themselves are located on the side of the room. This device is convenient on the first floors: it is impossible to remove the grid from the outside. When installing a mosquito on rods, its frame must be equal to the size of the light opening. You can’t do it with an accuracy of a millimeter, and to ensure that there is no gap, a brush is attached around the perimeter. It keeps insects out.

How to measure the order window

Quite often, a frame with a mesh is ordered from a company, and they are installed on the windows on their own. When ordering, you will be asked to provide the dimensions of the light opening. The required measurements are taken with the sash open. You measure the distance from one sealing gum to another: width and height. Measure in several places, record with millimeter accuracy. How accurate the grids will fit on your window depends on the accuracy.

How to measure a window when ordering a mosquito net

Watch how to measure windows for ordering a mosquito stack in the video.

What you need to know

When ordering or buying a mesh for a window, you need to pay attention to its characteristics. Firstly, it is available with different cell sizes: from 0.6 mm to 1.2 mm. The smaller the gap, the less likely that the insect will “leak through”, and there will be less fluff. But at high density, air also passes poorly, which can be critical in the southern regions. Therefore, the best option is somewhere in the middle of 0.8-1 mm.

The mesh is also produced from different materials:

  • Cotton. Cotton thread has high UV resistance. Its fleecy structure increases the "holding" ability: insects do not crawl through such a mesh. But since the fiber is natural, it reacts poorly to moisture, is often affected by mold and rot, and therefore is rarely used.
  • polyester. The most common material. It is strong enough and durable, with everything it has a low price, but it does not have any special properties.
  • Nylon. Nylon is used to make a special anti-allergic mesh. It is produced using a special technology with complex weaving. Thanks to what it detains even dust and pollen. Such nets often go under the name "anti-dust" or "anti-allergy".
  • Fiberglass. It is considered optimal, since it has high transparency: when using such grids, the degree of illumination almost does not change. At the same time, its strength is very high - comparable even to the strength of metal. Fiberglass is used to make an anti-cat mosquito net that can withstand the weight of the animal and does not tear under the claws.

If no special properties are needed, choose the usual one - from polyester. Sometimes they may ask what color the net is needed. The most invisible to the eye is gray, so you can order it.

How to install a frame mesh on a plastic window

You have received the finished mesh. It comes with 4 small Z-brackets (brackets). Please note that they have shelves of different sizes: two by 4 cm and two by 2.5 cm. Brackets with large shelves are installed at the top of the frame, with smaller ones at the bottom.

Z-brackets have different shelf lengths

For fastening to the frame, for each bracket-stop, you will need 2 self-tapping screws with a screw, which are also called "seeds". You will need a marker with a thin lead or a soft pencil. You will need a drill with a 2 mm drill and a screwdriver or screwdriver.

Outside the window frame, we draw a strip below the edge by 3 cm. We stand on a small stepladder or on a chair, we bring the frame with a grid out of the window, we ourselves also lean out halfway. Attaching the lower edge of the frame to the drawn line, mark its top.

You can do without manipulating the frame: you need to accurately measure its height, and postpone this value from the line drawn below. From the resulting point, we put another 1.8 cm upwards and here we draw the second line. On it we will align the fastener shelves.

We take brackets with long walls. We apply so that the protrusion is on the line. Regarding the light gap, you need to retreat about 10 cm from the edges. We mark the points where you need to make holes. We carry out a similar operation with “short” brackets from below. For control, measure the distance between the marks above and below. It should be 1.8 cm longer than your frame. If everything is correct, we drill holes in the profile (drill 2 mm), install brackets on the "seeds". Actually everything, we can assume that the mosquito net is installed with your own hands.

Installing a mosquito stack in a window

Now take the grid by the handles, turning it sideways a little, take it out into the street. Insert the upper edge into the upper brackets, align it vertically, lift it up to the stop, insert the edge behind the bottom brackets and lower it. The grid stands, held by brackets.

It is removed in reverse order. Grasp the handles, lift up to the stop, pull the bottom edge out of the brackets, feeding the mesh a little away from you (a couple of centimeters, no more). Then, moving it slightly down, pull it out of the upper brackets.

Corner installation

There is another type of fastener, similar in principle to "work" with brackets - corners. When installing this type of mosquito net clamps, it is also necessary to accurately measure the width. To do this, you will have to find the center of the light opening, from which set aside half the width of the grid. The inner part of the corner should correspond to the width of the frame with a mesh with a small gap of 2-3 mm for freedom of fixation.

Mesh corners

That is, in the presence of this type of fasteners, they fix the corners and in width should stand exactly at the corners. In height during installation, we leave the same gap of 1.5-1.8 cm. It provides the possibility of installing the frame in the mounts, and is held due to the fact that the upper shelves are larger.

Do-it-yourself mosquito net: we assemble it ourselves

As you understand, you can assemble the frame and stretch the grid yourself. All components can be bought in companies that sell spare parts for plastic windows. You will need the following components:

It looks like a frame for a mosquito net in a semi-assembled state

  • profile for mesh frame MFP2;
  • mullion profile (transverse partition with a mesh height of more than 1 m) MFPI and two fasteners for it;
  • mesh cloth;
  • assembly corners;
  • sealing cord (rubber or even woven);
  • handles - 2 pcs;
  • self-tapping screws with a countersunk head with a drill, dimensions 3.9 * 16 mm;

Frame assembly

The frame consists of two long profile sections and two short ones. They are connected to each other with the help of corners. They can be plastic (cheap, but short-lived material) and metal, painted with white or brown paint (to match the profile).

Still often they put an impost - a jumper, which is installed approximately in the middle of the long side. It increases the rigidity of the structure and prevents long profiles from "playing".

The lengths of the profiles must be cut, taking into account the fact that they are going to the corners. Therefore, 20 mm is subtracted from the width and length of the light opening (as described above) - it is this length that is replaced by the corners.

Saw off from the profiles in two segments of the required length. It is better to cut with a hand saw for metal - it turns out a more even saw cut with almost no burrs. It is brought to smoothness with a file or sandpaper. Then on a flat surface - it is more convenient on the table, laying the profile with the grooves up, fold the rectangle, insert the corner holders - the grooves are also up. In the photo, the grooves are directed downwards, but this is inconvenient - then you have to turn the frame over.

We assemble a frame from profile segments and corners

With the normal coincidence of the corners and profiles, they should be inserted tightly. Very tight. Hand put in place, it will not work. We'll have to knock it out, and in order not to damage the plastic, use a lining - a wooden block or a piece of chipboard, as in the photo.

How to assemble a frame for a mosquito net on windows

When assembling, also check the corners. They must be strictly 90 °, or the frame will be oblique, and there will be gaps into which mosquito flies will crawl. After the rectangle is assembled, we install the impost. We saw it off 2-3 mm shorter than the resulting frame width, insert the holders on both sides, fix it on the frame in the groove.

Impost and holder

We stretch the grid

We spread the grid on the assembled frame. It should be 3-5 cm larger than the frame on each side: it will be more convenient to pull it. We take the cord, we press it through the grid into the groove. You can start from one of the corners, or you can start from the middle of the short side, alternately moving either to the right or to the left.

The cord comes in quite hard, in the workshops it is rolled up with a roller, in its absence, you can use any object with a rounded surface. A knife handle is suitable - a clerical or kitchen knife, a screwdriver handle, scissor handles, etc. Straightening the mesh, insert the cord.

Types of handles: plastic and with a metal base

Installing handles

Having reached the installation site of the impost, we put the handles. Usually they are thin, plastic, inserted into the groove under the net, then pressed with a cord. There is a second type of handles - they are denser, sometimes with a metal base, they are screwed onto the profile with screws, but after the mesh is stretched. If you have a choice - take metal or at least plastic, but thick. The plastic ones are very flimsy and often break.

If during the process the mesh lay crooked, the cord can be pulled out by prying with a screwdriver or something similar, corrected, and rolled up again. Having finished stretching, check the width and height of the frame at several points. If there are deviations somewhere, then in this place the mesh is stretched too much. It is loosened by pressing a little with the palm of your hand near the frame. If this does not work out to equalize the width, the cord is hooked and pulled out at some interval. aligning the width, holding the grid, refuel again.

You can pry the sealing cord with a screwdriver

If all dimensions match, you can cut the cord, tuck in the tail, then walk along the profile again, checking the evenness of the “entry of the seal. Now the protruding edges can be trimmed. This is usually done with a utility knife. Everything, the mosquito net is assembled with your own hands, you can proceed to install it on the window.

An assembly example can be seen in the next video. This is a commercial: the company sells ready-made kits for self-assembly. The process is not detailed enough, but it can be considered in general terms.

Homemade mosquito nets: save on the full

If you calculate the cost of all spare parts, take into account the loss of time for their purchase and assembly, then the benefit is doubtful. You still sell components more expensive than firms. It can be useful only in the sense that after self-assembly, you can easily repair it yourself.

However, there are some very inexpensive options for homemade mosquito nets. They are made according to the frameless principle, mounted directly on the window. There are two ways to install this:

  • On Velcro - a knitted tape, which consists of two parts - a tape with hooks and a counter with a rough surface. The mesh is cut out a little more than the light opening, the counterpart is sewn to the mesh, and the part with hooks on the sticky layer is attached to the frame around the perimeter of the window.
  • On the sealing cord. It is inserted in place of the standard seal. To do this, they remove it (hook it up and pull it out), pull the mesh over the opening, and press the cord into the groove. The principle is the same as when installing a grid in a frame.

The second way to make a budget mosquito net yourself, see the video. The idea is great, the costs are minimal.

Replacing handles on a mosquito net

The problem of mosquitoes and flies in the summer is quite urgent. And the best option for solving it is to mount a mosquito net on the door or a plastic window. How to make all the fasteners with your own hands and install a mosquito structure on a window, balcony or door, we will tell in this material.

Do-it-yourself mosquito net mounts

So, if you already have a mosquito net for windows with Z-shaped fasteners on it, then to install it, you need to follow these steps:

  • take a mosquito net and place it so that the Z-shaped fastener is facing you. At the same time, please note that the fasteners may differ from each other in the length of their hook. Then install the mesh so that the fasteners are turned with the side of the smaller hook down, and the large one up, respectively;
  • firmly grasp the side vertical handles on the window, which can be either metal or plastic;
  • put the sash in a specially prepared place for installation on the window opening;
  • get a large hook on the top of the window frame, while raising the grid as high as possible;
  • at the highest position of the mesh structure, slide the smaller hooks over the edges of the window frame at the bottom and release it.

We have given the simplest option for installing a mosquito net, provided that all the necessary fasteners are present on it. It should be noted that this installation method is not suitable for all types of plastic window designs.

How to fix the grid structure on the window

Let's move on to the next common method of attaching a mosquito net to a window or balcony, carried out using special plastic corners. This method is not universal and the best, however, if we are talking about plastic windows, then you should carefully study and try it.

Unlike the method where metal fasteners are used, the fasteners here are installed directly on the window frame, and not on the mesh frame.

The algorithm of work when installing a mosquito structure will be as follows:

How to install a mosquito net on a door

Door mosquito nets, unlike window ones, are divided into two types:

  • hanging freely;
  • located in a special frame case.

Unlike plastic windows, installing a mosquito net on a door with your own hands will be more difficult. The fact is that the supply of these structures is carried out in a configuration for specialized specialists, and it can be extremely difficult for an ordinary person to understand this.

If we take mosquito nets with a frame as an example, then they should be fastened with hinges like ordinary doors. But hanging models are fixed around the entire perimeter of the door, connecting in the center with a magnetic fastener.

Of course, it is advisable not to carry out this installation with your own hands, but to turn to a professional, it will be much calmer, in addition, if the product is defective, you will be free to change it.

The door structure is attached with hinges, sometimes handles and a magnetic latch are included. In some cases, one or two imposts can be placed on the mosquito door, depending on the height. The installation time of the door mosquito net, depending on the complexity of the design, ranges from fifteen minutes to half an hour.

Features of different fastenings of mosquito nets

If you need to install and fix the mosquito structure on an aluminum window, then the installation will differ little from the methods described above, but consider the following points:

As a rule, the process of installing a mosquito net on a plastic window takes a little time - up to half an hour.

A standard factory frame mesh can be installed in a couple of minutes by fastening it to the window with special latches, but a design with Z-shaped fasteners is installed in about ten minutes, the process itself will be more complicated.

However, in terms of reliability, metal fasteners are considered the best choice. They do not deteriorate with time, do not crack, and do not undergo other changes even during the coldest winters or during the most intense summer heat.

If the mosquito net is equipped with a metal inner fastener, then it will not fall out of the window, even with strong gusts of wind or hurricanes, as is often the case with nets equipped with plastic fasteners.

There are also roller-type mosquito products, it will be extremely difficult to install them yourself, but if there is a need for this, then it is better to do the installation together so as not to lose one or another structural element and so that it does not accidentally fall out of the window. Also among the features of this design is the twisting of the mesh during its opening or during removal from the latches. In the absence of such a function, the spring will constantly twist it often, and this can significantly reduce the life of the structure.

So, we learned about what constitutes the installation of a mosquito net on a plastic window or on a door. Of course, if we are not talking about the simplest design that can be easily installed in a minute or within half an hour, then it is better to entrust this work to professionals in their field. So you will sleep peacefully, and you will not worry that tomorrow the structure will fail.

Mounts for mosquito nets

Mosquito nets should be installed in calm weather.

To install (mount fastenings) mosquito nets you will need: a tape measure, a pencil, a screwdriver or a screwdriver, a set of fasteners and self-tapping screws.

For your safety, it is advisable to involve an assistant to hold the mosquito net when you measure and screw the fasteners and use the adjacent sash open next to it, if any.

Mosquito net mounts are screwed with self-tapping screws to the street side of the window 2 pcs. top and 2 pcs. from below.

Recommendations: annually, before installing mosquito nets, visually inspect the fasteners (corners) for yellowing. You should also try to shake each of the brackets with your hand. If you hear a characteristic crackle or feel significant deformation, the fasteners should be replaced. Otherwise, the mosquito net may simply fly away.

Important!!! if a metal grill is installed on the window, then the installation of a mosquito net is possible only with the analysis of the mosquito net and subsequent collection already at the installation site (outside the window).

There are several ways to install mosquito net mounts (depending on the free width of the protruding profile of the street side of the frame).

Standard way.

Open the window sash where the mosquito net will be installed. On the outside of the window, install the mosquito net mounts using self-tapping screws, as shown in the figure.

Important!!! The length of self-tapping screws or screws should be less than 30 mm, since longer ones can rest against the reinforcement passing inside the PVC window.

The top and bottom mounts are different. Longer mounts are placed up.

To the bottom of the window profile from the outside, we apply 2 lower fasteners for the mosquito net profile (they are smaller in size than the upper ones) and either mark the points for drilling under the fasteners with a pencil and drill, or immediately tighten the self-tapping screws with a drill, take the size of the self-tapping screw 3.9x16 or 3.9x19 mm.

To facilitate the work of the fasteners, you can glue it to the profile with double-sided tape, just do not forget about the screws!

Holding the mosquito net by the frame, apply it to the outside of the window, put it on the lower mounts and check the dimensions. At the top of the window profile, we install the upper brackets, it is most convenient to attach them first to double-sided tape, then with free hands, tighten the screws.

The place of their installation in height can be determined either by marking the top of the net installed on the lower mounts with a pencil, or by calculating - the size from the base of the bottom bracket to the base of the top bracket should be 8 mm more than the height of the mosquito net.

Having installed all the fasteners, we take the mosquito net by the frame and stick it out of the window, first we insert it into the upper fasteners until it stops. With correctly installed fasteners, the bottom of the net should pass almost flush over the lower fasteners. Then we lower the mesh down to the lower mounts and check how firmly it holds on the mounts. At the slightest doubt, it is better to lower the upper fasteners for a tighter fit of the mosquito net.

Take the mosquito net first by the frame in the middle on both sides and stick it out through the light opening of the window.

Not by the handles, as some unfortunate experts advise (the handles are rolled up with a rubber cord and, with an awkward movement, they will break out and simply remain in your hands), but behind the frame.
Insert the mosquito net (holding the frame on both sides) over the fasteners from above until it stops (figure below: position<1>), then grasp one handle with one hand, then the other handle with the other hand, press the bottom of the mosquito net against the frame and slide it into the lower mounts (position<2>).Be sure to check that the mosquito net is wound up behind the lower fasteners, and not standing on them. See the picture below. To remove the mosquito net, you must repeat all the steps in reverse order. take
by the handles, lift it all the way up. Then take one and then the other hand behind the frame, move the bottom of the net a little from the frame and lower it down (until the upper fasteners disengage) and bring the mosquito net into the room.

If there is a sash nearby, it will be more convenient to take the bottom of the mesh frame through the adjacent sash and lift it all the way up, move the bottom of the mesh away from the frame and, holding the frame with both hands, bring the mosquito net into the room.

Non-standard installation of mosquito net No. 1.

Unlike the standard mosquito net installation, the non-standard one differs only in the installation of the upper fasteners on the sides of the net (it is used when the free frame profile is less than 5 cm above):

The installation and removal process of the mosquito net is the same as the standard installation method.

Non-standard installation of mosquito net No. 2.

It is used when there is 3-4 cm on top of the free profile. First, the upper fasteners are screwed (as in a standard installation) as high as possible. Then a mosquito net is attached to them until it stops and from below we mark the bottom of the net with a pencil. We fasten the fasteners by 5 mm. below the mark.

The mosquito net will be inserted from the side. We take it by the frame, we start it first in the upper mount, then in the lower one. It is advisable to push the mosquito net without distortions (try to keep it strictly vertically).

Non-standard installation of a mosquito net No. 3.

PIt is used when the top is less than 3 cm and there are two opening sashes nearby.

First, the upper mount is screwed on the side on the vertical part of the frame profile (farthest from the neighboring sash). You can retreat 10-15 cm from the upper corner (it would be better to press the middle of the mosquito net).

For plastic windows, special nets are provided that protect the home from the penetration of various insects. If the windows were installed during the cold period, then this moment could be missed. Also, sometimes an already installed grid for various reasons may become unusable. In such situations, the homeowners face the question of how to install a mosquito net on a plastic window.

The problem that one has to face is that there are no completed standard products on sale. Each individual design is made in specific dimensions to order. To resolve the issue, you can contact the company that made the windows. The archive may contain data about the dimensions. You can also call a measurer, but this is already for a fee.

The main task of the design is to protect the premises from insects

Types of anti-mosquito structures

Before you start studying the information on how to properly measure a mosquito net on a plastic window, you should decide on the type of construction:

  • The roller blind is a mesh that is rolled up. It can be installed with a fixed mount.
  • Frame or frame mesh is the most popular among consumers due to its low cost.
  • The door type is a mesh stretched over a thin aluminum frame. This design is fixed with awnings.
  • The roller shutter design has been used quite recently, and not every company will accept such an order. The roller shutter system uses mesh with a protective finish on the edges for a longer service life.
  • Mesh fixed with adhesive tape, magnets or Velcro.

This type of fastening is convenient only at first glance. In fact, at the end of the season, the mosquito net can only be peeled off together with the fasteners, and in the spring all the Velcro will need to be installed again.

  • Mosquito net with an increased level of durability to protect pets. The material can withstand a very large load, and will not allow the pet to fall out of the window.
  • The sliding structure is installed on terraces or balconies. Parts of the structure, if necessary, can be opened or closed. For convenient use, guides are installed with which to move or adjust structural elements.
  • Design with increased protection that does not allow dust to pass through. Such a canvas has very small cells, and needs regular cleaning.

Methods for attaching mosquito structures to a plastic window

The design of the protective mesh consists of a fiberglass mesh with 1 mm cells and an aluminum frame. Fastening a mosquito net to plastic windows can be different, and its choice is from the manufacturer.

The plunger mount can be considered the most high-quality and durable. To fix the frame, spring-loaded pins with a carved cap are used, which perfectly hold the structure.

The second place in demand is occupied by the Z-shaped fastening of the mosquito net. The protective mesh is attached to the window with metal brackets. Despite the apparent reliability of fastening, over time, the structure may loosen, and cracks will begin to form.

Much less often, a method called "Pocket" is used to fasten the structure. When using this method, gaps remain between the mesh and the frame, so it is not so in demand. Measurements for such structures must be done with a margin.

Measurements for Structures Using Z-Mounts

Using a regular tape measure, measure the height and width of the opening along the edge of the elastic. The data obtained should be recorded to the nearest millimeter. The finished product will exceed the dimensions of the frame by 2 cm horizontally and vertically.

Before deciding how to measure a Z-Mosquito Screen window, it's worth checking how deep the window frame is set. If the slopes are very close to the frame, or the box is strongly wound up under a quarter, then the installation of the finished structure may be difficult. Such moments should be taken into account during measurements and planning, and if necessary, order a structure with a different type of fastening.

Measurements for structures with plunger fastenings

The use of pins is available for frames that do not have rounded shapes. It is also worth considering that the pin is attached to the frame itself, and in the presence of a strong bevel, it is almost impossible to achieve a high level of density. All this must be taken into account before proceeding with solving the problem of how to measure a mosquito net on a plastic window.

In order to determine the dimensions, it is worth knowing the height and width of the frame, and then 6 mm should be subtracted from the data obtained. A sealing brush of this size is installed along the edge of the mesh frame.

To decide how to measure a window for a pocket mount mosquito net, you should know that measurements are made for such designs in exactly the same way as for Z-mounts. Since such a mount does not provide a snug fit and reliable protection, most consumers prefer to use other types of structures.

Regardless of the type of fastening, it is necessary to determine the dimensions with an accuracy of a millimeter.

Mosquito net installation steps

The sequence of work is as follows:

  • Markup for fasteners. If the window has standard dimensions, then two fasteners from the bottom and two from the top are enough. For very large windows use 8 fasteners.
  • There are holes in the frame. For this, a drill is used.
  • The fastening elements are applied to the frame and screwed with screws.
  • After that, it is necessary to determine the point of attachment of the holders. To do this, you need to measure the height, and make markings exactly in the middle.
  • The holders are screwed into the plastic structure with screws. If plastic holders are used, they must be handled very carefully as they are very fragile.

Too small cells will become a barrier to sunlight

Features of installation and operation of a rolled mosquito net

On our website you can get acquainted with the most popular projects - from construction companies presented at the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

This design is installed outside, and is fixed above the frame or to the side of it. When unwinding, the mesh web moves along the side guides. They protect the canvas from kinking or moving too fast, which often leads to damage. In order to avoid excessive unwinding, the structure is equipped with a special spring. When the canvas is fully unfolded, it is fixed with a special latch. In order to remove the canvas in the box, just press the button.

The design is equipped with brush seals that clean the mesh fabric. But if the mesh is heavily soiled, or it needs to be cleaned due to the end of the summer season, it is simply removed and washed, or wiped with a wet cloth. You can also use a regular vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

Rolling design is very convenient to use

Features of the installation and operation of the grid on the plungers

The mosquito net on rods or plungers fits very tightly to the double-glazed window, which provides a high level of protection against insects entering the room. Rods are metal rods on a spring mechanism, which are fixed with pins on the outside of the frame.

When installing or removing the structure, tighten the threads in the spring pins. If it becomes necessary to remove the structure, the pin must be rotated clockwise.

Installation of such a design is not possible if there are bars on the windows.

The advantages of such a fastening system include quick and easy installation, a high level of tightness and excellent protection against dust, resistance to low temperatures and ultraviolet radiation. It is also worth considering that this design is almost impossible to remove from the outside. Due to this, such structures are installed on the first floors.

If the brush begins to separate along the edges of the mesh, then it is enough to pass along the edge with waterproof glue. To clean the canvas, it is enough to wash it with a regular sponge using a soap solution.

In the video, one of the ways how to repair an old mosquito net:

Installation of the structure on the window

Before you start dealing with the problem of how to install a mosquito net on a window, you should decide on the type of fasteners:

  • The lower fasteners are installed no more than 15 mm below the window opening, and the upper fasteners must be fixed above the frame, taking into account the height of the mesh and add 10 mm. The frame of the grid should not extend beyond the boundaries of the window opening. In order to facilitate installation, you should first glue the fasteners to the frame with double-sided tape. This will give you the opportunity to try on the mesh and see the final result. And only then you need to make holes for fasteners using self-tapping screws or hardware with a drill.

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

  • It is recommended to lubricate the place where the window profile and the fastening are connected with silicone sealant.
  • In order to avoid mistakes when marking the upper mounts, the lower mounts are glued, a grid is inserted, and the upper border is marked with an ordinary pencil. If all measurements are made correctly, then the border should be in the middle of the supporting part of the upper bracket.
  • For installation, the mesh is inserted into the upper mounts until it stops, and then lowered to the lower ones. If the structure staggers, or does not look very reliable, then the situation is solved by adjusting the height of the mounts from above.

Before starting work, it is worth making accurate measurements

Mosquito net repair or replacement

Despite the fact that plastic has high strength, the structure can fail under the influence of time, temperature changes and sunlight. Also, the canvas can be damaged by pets. In such cases, each owner should know how to change the mosquito net on a plastic window on their own.

Replacing corners

Very often, the cause of the malfunction is bursting plastic corners. Such items are sold in specialized stores. If necessary, you can purchase one or a whole set of corners. Also on sale there are ordinary, and solid or reinforced corners. At a fairly low cost, fortified options are more reliable and last much longer.

If only one corner breaks, it is not necessary to disassemble the structure completely, it is enough to restrict the upper bar

First of all, pry off the sealing cord, carefully pull it out and pull it out of the groove. Then you should pull the bar up.

Use pliers or a screwdriver to remove the broken elements.

New corners must be attached to the bar, and all the details of the structure must be connected to each other.

The canvas is straightened along the edges, pulled a little, and the sealant is placed in the groove. In order to press it tightly, you should use a screwdriver or scissors.

In order to avoid damage during repairs, when using a hammer, you should use a wooden beam and beat through it, or use a special rubber hammer.

The replacement of the corners is clearly shown in the video:

Blade replacement

If the integrity of the canvas is violated, you can make a small patch or seal the torn area. This will make the structure look unattractive, and can be used as a temporary measure. In such situations, it is worth completely replacing the damaged canvas with a new one. To know how to measure a mosquito net and determine its size, you should add 30-40 mm along the length and width of the frame. After installing the canvas, the excess is cut off.

There is no point in repairing a damaged mesh, it should be completely replaced

To do this, remove the structure from the window, and remove the cord around the entire perimeter, while supporting the frame. This method makes it possible to easily release the grid.

In order for the new mesh to be easily stretched, a slightly larger canvas should be purchased.

After stretching the mesh fabric, a sealing cord is inserted into the groove around the entire perimeter. In order for the design to have a beautiful and presentable appearance, you should stretch the canvas well and evenly distribute the load on the corners and profile. excess mesh is removed with a regular sharp construction knife.

Resizing a structure

In order to make the mosquito net a little smaller, you should remove the sealing cord, disassemble the frame into elements, and reduce the dimensions by the required number of millimeters. After that, the design is assembled in the reverse order and placed on the window.

If the design is too large, it can be reduced

What to do if the handles for installation are broken

Small handles for installation are made of plastic, which loses its qualities from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and temperature changes. The handles lose their flexibility and begin to break. To solve the problem, it is worth buying new handles and installing instead of the old ones.

To replace, remove the sealing cord in the place where the handle is located, carefully loosen and remove the old part and replace it with a new one.

After that, the mesh should be stretched, and the sealing cord should be placed in the groove.

There are design options where the handles are screwed with screws. Then they can be unscrewed, and replace the damaged handle with a whole one.

The handle for installation of the structure is attached only with a rubber sealing cord, and it is very easy to change it to a new one.

Replacement of Z-shaped holders

First of all, it is worth unscrewing the old fasteners with a screwdriver.

After that, similar items are purchased in the store. It is best to change the complete set, even if only one mount is broken.

New fasteners are screwed to the frame and install the mesh on the window.

How to assemble a structure from component parts

You can purchase and install a finished structure, but self-assembly will be much cheaper. Before deciding how to assemble a mosquito net, you should purchase components. For the construction, you will need a frame profile, corners for connection, a central cross member and two connectors, a rubber sealing cord, 2 handles and a mesh fabric.

The most convenient material for the frame and crossbar is aluminum. You can use plastic counterparts, but they are less durable and have a shorter service life. Very often, aluminum profiles are painted white or brown. This allows you to make the design more durable and beautiful.

For coloring profiles use brown or white paint.

It is better to choose reinforced corners for connection. Then the design will last longer.

Handles do not carry much load, and the choice should be guided by personal preferences. When choosing a grid, its purpose should be taken into account. There is a canvas that prevents the penetration of dust into the room. Also on sale are high-strength mesh fabrics that can withstand attacks from pets and birds. If the mesh size is less than 1 mm, then the grid will darken the room.

The choice of fastening depends on the design of the window.

Construction steps

The work takes place in the following sequence:

  1. Using a saw or a hacksaw for metal, a metal profile is cut. Its dimensions should be less than the dimensions of the window by 10 mm horizontally and vertically. The center bar is cut exactly to fit the width of the window.
  2. The profile must be inserted into the corners. You can use a hammer for this. At the end of this stage, you should get a rectangular frame.
  3. Cut the mesh web 30-40 mm larger than the required dimensions.
  4. The mesh must be placed on the frame, and using a special roller, fill it into the profile along with the sealing cord. The mesh must be evenly stretched, and make sure that no waves or folds form. Handles are also installed with the help of a cord at this stage.
  5. All excess and protruding parts of the canvas are carefully cut off with a sharp knife.

The mosquito net is ready for installation.

The canvas must be well stretched, and make sure that there are no waves or folds.

What is the peculiarity of the mesh cloth "Antikoshka"

Such a grid is installed not only by cat owners. Very often, pets of neighbors can get into the house and harm the room. To protect the window opening on both sides, a mesh cloth of increased strength should be used. For the manufacture of such structures, a polyester fabric is used, which is glued around the entire perimeter, and fixed with metal brackets. Even if a pet tries to damage the mesh with its claws or beak, and also climbs on it, the material will not sag or succumb to deformation.

If a pet lives in the house, then for safety reasons, window openings should be carefully strengthened.

What are the important points to consider when ordering a mesh

A mosquito net is ordered only in cases where the windows in the apartment open inwards.

The main purpose of the mosquito net is to keep insects or poplar fluff out of the room. In order to ensure a snug fit, measurements should be taken to the nearest millimeter. A slight overlap is allowed on the outside.

In order to get a quality design, you should make accurate measurements.

Conclusion

Repair and installation of a mosquito net is not particularly difficult, and even a beginner who does not have much experience will cope with such a task. It is worth carefully studying the material, and the question of how to make a mosquito net will not be particularly difficult.

With the onset of the long-awaited warm days, mosquitoes and midges come to life. It is very difficult to hide from them. They penetrate into the slightest gap, strive to get to the person as soon as possible. Only a mosquito can stop them. It will also become an obstacle for poplar fluff, dust, etc. Let's figure out how to install it on a plastic window yourself.

Selection and installation of a mosquito net

The best way to protect your home from annoying guests is a mosquito. It completely covers the frame, preventing the penetration of insects inside.

Types of mosquito nets

  • Framework. This is a frame assembled from metal-plastic, on which a mesh fabric is stretched. The finished structure is mounted on the outside of the window with plungers or Z-brackets. This is an economical and quite convenient option.
  • Roll. The protection is made as an analogue, only instead of a fabric a plastic mesh is placed. The roll is attached to the top of the frame. If necessary, the edge is lowered and fixed. Easy to use, the price is higher than analogues.
  • Swing. It looks like a frame, but the frame is reinforced. One side of it is placed on hinges, after which the frame can swing open and close by snapping onto a magnet. The design is more often chosen for doors on.
  • Sliding. A constituent element of sliding systems. This is a frame moving along the guides, on which the mesh panel is fixed. Its dimensions correspond to the sash. When one of them opens, the canvas moves and closes it.

Despite such a variety of anti-mosquito elements, frame products are most often chosen.

Take measurements

  1. Fully open the sash.
  2. We measure the width of the opening from one seal to another.
  3. Similarly, we measure the height of the opening.

In order not to be mistaken with the sizes, we must measure in several places. There may be slight discrepancies. The obtained values are recorded with an accuracy of millimeters.

Choose mounting method

An important point: the choice of attachment. Plungers are placed on the frames, they are also rods or brackets. The latter option is much more common. In this case, the mosquito is placed on the outside of the window. It is inserted into brackets shaped like the letter Z. A significant drawback is that the product can be easily removed from the street. Therefore, such fasteners are placed above the first or second floor. On the lower ones, grids are installed on the plungers. They are also attached from the outside, but the rods that fix the product in place are located on the side of the room. Thus, it is impossible to remove the protection from the outside.

The difficulty lies in the fact that the frame must exactly repeat the light opening. It is almost impossible to do this, there are always small gaps. They can be used by insects. Therefore, a special brush is attached around the perimeter of the frame.

Made according to the specified dimensions, it is issued to the customer along with the fasteners that he will install on his own. Let's look at two possible options.

Sequence of work for a staple in the form of the letter Z

The kit comes with four brackets. Two of them with a shelf side of 25 mm, two with a side of 40 mm. Those that are larger are placed on top. To work, you will need a drill, a 2 mm drill, a screwdriver or just a screwdriver, two self-tapping screws with a screw for each bracket.

  1. We open the sash. Outside, on the bottom of the plastic frame, lay 30 mm down, draw a line. We will install brackets on it.
  2. From it we set aside the height of the mosquito, add 18 mm, draw a line. If it is possible to work outside, the easiest way is to attach the part to the intended bottom line, mark the top edge. Add an allowance, draw a second line.
  3. We outline the areas where we will mount the brackets. We retreat 10 cm from the edge of the light opening to the left and right. We make marks.
  4. We apply fasteners to the intended point so that the edge of the shelf is on the line. Mark where the holes should be. We do the same with each bracket.
  5. We drill holes. We put the brackets, fasten them with self-tapping screws.

It remains to put anti-mosquito cloth. He is taken by the handles, slightly turned to the side, taken out of the sash. Then lead into the upper brackets, align. Raise, insert into the lower mounts, lower a little.

The sequence of work for the corners

Installing a mosquito net on a plastic one is also done on the corners. Like staples, they are attached to the outside of the window frame. Larger fasteners are installed on top, smaller ones on the bottom. The elements are fixed with self-tapping screws. The marking and installation process is very similar to that described above. There is only one difference. The clamps "hold" the mosquito by the corners, so precise marking is required.

The lower and upper bounds are outlined in a similar way. Then determine the middle of the opening. From it to the right and to the left lay half the width of the mesh part. The distance between the inner centers of the corners will be equal to the width of the mosquito plus 0.2 or 0.3 cm for free fixation. Installation of the frame in the corner mounts is carried out in the same way as in the brackets.

We figured out how to attach a mosquito net to a plastic one. This is not at all difficult, especially if you order a product according to your size from a company specializing in the production and installation of window systems. It remains only to put up protection that will block the path of annoying insects.
