What tool is needed for the installation of interior doors. Indispensable equipment for the installation of room doors

Miter saws

In installation, our company uses 4 types of crosscut saws and is not easy. Combined saws are designed for various tasks, have different overall dimensions of saw blades. For example, if you have eco-veneer veneered or laminated doors, then Makita LH1040 will be enough, which will perfectly cope with the task with a 260 mm disc. But if you have doors made of solid wood with thick frames, Virutex TM33L or Makita LH1200FL, which are equipped with saws more than 300 mm in diameter, will perform better and cleaner. Combined saws, as a tool for installing interior doors, are used to cut material both along and across. For example, for adjusting the width and length of platbands, extensions, boxes as needed, as well as forming an angle of 45 degrees.

MAKITA LS0714 is another tool used to install doors, namely for a transverse, clean cut of non-standard accessories, platbands. The saw is not particularly replaceable for installing wooden skirting boards, since adjusting the joints of the skirting board under 45 is not done with other saws on products over 120 mm. The cutting width is 300 mm, which is a very good indicator!

Milling machines and equipment

In our practice, we use 4 types of milling cutters, depending on the type of work and tasks. For example, hidden hinges, Butterfly-type hinges (not to be confused with non-mortise, overhead hinges, which we highly do not recommend!) - are deepened with the help of many templates and a milling cutter from the leading Spanish developer Virutex, the help of another specialized router Makita. The addition of card hinges, both universal and detachable, is carried out by a different milling cutter with corresponding, author's modifications, allowing to achieve an impeccable quality of fittings insertion into Makita interior doors.

Lock router is a giant of our arsenal of tools for installing interior doors, it is used to form (milling) the depth, width and length of seats for locks of any standard size. It is used, as a rule, for milling locks in solid hardwood doors and for large milling volumes.

Rip saws and pneumatic tools

The pneumatic equipment for installation is a compressor and a gun for attaching platbands, glass frames to micro-pins (thinner than a needle and 2.5 times thinner than a finishing nail). It is used where the manufacturer does not provide grooves for fastening elements. Leaves practically no visible traces of fastening on decorative surfaces.

A longitudinal saw with a rigid aluminum guide is a tool used to cut door leaves in height (if necessary, you can reduce the height of the door, for example, from 2000 mm to 1900 mm, etc.). This high-precision Spanish equipment allows you to work with doors of any manufacturer and price range. Makes a very high-quality cross-cut of the door leaf!

Drills, screwdrivers and hammer drills

When installing interior doors, we use a drill as a tool in two cases: for drilling a hole for installing a square for a handle, a plumbing screw or a lock cylinder, and for drilling holes for fastening screws. By the way, drilling smaller holes for self-tapping screws is a very important and necessary procedure, so the screw holds stronger and more reliably and will not split the wood when screwing in.

Drill - screwdriver. This tool is used to screw self-tapping screws and screws into door hinges, locks, boxes. In our practice, we use bits of leading manufacturers, therefore we do not knock down the slots on the self-tapping screws and do not spoil the appearance of the screws. The main principle is the maximum quality and aesthetics of the installed products!

Perforator - used for drilling holes in concrete and other materials for the subsequent fastening of interior doors to the doorway. It must be remembered that even a hidden installation of doors requires fastening using self-tapping screws. Also, if necessary, it is possible to expand the doorway in concrete or brick.

Electric planer and jigsaw

We can say these are atavisms of the tool for installing doors, nevertheless, they are still used!

Electric plane. Any point adjustments of extensions, platbands, in the case of their cut along - when installing interior doors, are performed with a plane. With the advent of high-precision miter and rip saws, this operation is generally not required.

Electric jigsaw. This tool is mainly used for ripping and trimming door trims. For example, if you do not have a platband entirely along the entire length + a curved wall - you can use a jigsaw to fit the platband as accurately as possible to the wall, if the wall is even, then a Makita longitudinal saw is used.

Manual assembly tool for door installation

Hand tool. The set of hand tools for installing interior doors includes a whole list of items. Here you can find a variety of chisels, bits for self-tapping screws, drills of different dimensions, a square, a hammer, a screwdriver, a plumb line and much more. It is fundamentally important to use only a sharp and serviceable tool in your work!

Solving the problem of how to install a door with your own hands is a rather difficult, but quite feasible undertaking. Having carefully studied the market offers and having made a choice of design, it will not be difficult to choose a tool to implement your venture.

Types of materials for the production of doors

  1. Natural materials

Everyone knows a material such as natural wood. For interior doors or into an office, a living room is the best choice for natural and expensive material.

For example, ash. Solid wood with a large expressive texture, radial section (along). Ideal for sturdy entrance systems.

Oak is a very beautiful and expensive wood species, suitable for making solid wood products. Strong and reliable wood.

Pine is a species with a very light texture, perfect for interior doors.

There is also beech - wood with a soft texture and a beautiful shade, a hard breed that will perfectly serve for many years.

  1. Artificial materials

A room door serves not only to lock a particular room, it is also a unique detail of the interior. The use of new technologies has pushed this type of product to a fairly high level.

It has become much easier to install doors, they are often equipped with the necessary ones already in stores. Dobory, loot, platbands go to them almost always in a set.

Fibreboard base, veneer covering and varnished surfaces have excellent service for many years.

Types of door construction

  1. A swing door, can be single or double-leaf, while opening in any direction, it is very convenient. This is the most common door on the market. It is usually placed in a doorway with a frame and platband.
  2. A sliding room door can be used both in the external version (the sash goes along the slats attached to the floor or wall) and in the internal version (the sash is hidden in the wall). Doors "book" and "accordion" also belong to this category.
  3. The swing door is quite rare, it is usually installed in hotels and is made of glass and chrome-plated parts.

Accessories for installing interior doors

Choosing the simplest door on the market, you can easily install it yourself, with a little drawing skills and a set of fixtures.

Tool list:

  • level 1 and 1.5 meters, tape measure, measuring angle, ruler, miter box;
  • screwdriver, nozzle for screws (bit), electric facing and milling cutter;
  • foam gun, wallpaper knife, hammer, set of drills;
  • a set of chisels and feathers for inserting hinges and a lock, a Phillips screwdriver;
  • puncher, if the room door is mounted to concrete and other solid foundations and openings;
  • wedges for spacing the box, distances from plastic with a thickness of 1.2 and 5 mm.

Sequence of work when installing swing doors

Installation diagrams of samples of swing doors (horizontal section): 1 - a fragment of the enclosing structure; 2 - heat-insulating gasket; 3 - frame for installing a fragment of the enclosing structure.

Try on the door frame in the opening, cut off the excess with trimming, carefully measuring the required height. Make sure that the vertical of the racks in two planes is observed, and set the horizon (upper part) of the crossbar exactly in level. Having spread all this in wedges, check all the levels again. Insert the plastic spacers between the box and the base quite tightly.

Advice: the allowable gap between the box and the opening can be from 1-2.5 cm.

Before fastening the box to the base with screws or dowels, insert (try on) the blade itself to adjust the gaps between the blade and the strip. Make markings for the hinges, if they were not cut in the workshop, remove the door leaf and use a chisel or router to cut them in. Screw on the loops and put on the canvas.

Important! Blow out the cracks between the opening and the box (the foam should lie evenly, into the seam, without large gaps or bubbles), blow out the foam, observing safety precautions, not forgetting to fix it in advance with screws or dowels to the finished opening.

It is advisable to leave the canvas in the loot, having previously exposed it through the distances, this does not allow the door frame to leave in size or tolerance. When the foam hardens, cut off the excess with a sharp knife.

Using a miter box, cut the platbands to size, at the joints, cut the workpiece at an angle, to each other. Secure them with special nails or glue.

Especially carefully you need to make all the markings when installing double-leaf doors, so that the leaves in the closed position fit perfectly in relation to each other.

The sequence of work when installing sliding views

  1. Installation of guides.

First of all, apply markings to the walls to further secure all the details.
Guides recessed into the floor (sleds) are always placed at the zero level of the floor, therefore it is better to coordinate such details in advance, for example, with builders. To measure the level of the floor horizon under the guides is a prerequisite.

  1. Installation of the upper part.

The line of the top piece must line up with the bottom piece (bottom edge of the slide). The level of its placement should correspond to the height of the door leaf with a tolerance of 15-20 mm for the gap between the floor and the leaf, the same tolerances for the upper part. The conditions are taken from the annotations provided for the product. The technological access distance almost always ranges from 10 to 22 mm.

The distance (details) of the guides themselves should correspond to the door leaf, multiplied by two, to this distance add about 80 mm for the stopper plug device.

Brackets are almost always used to fasten doors of such a system, but for interior doors made of solid wood or with glass inserts, it will be necessary to strengthen the structure, due to the large weight of the canvas. For such purposes, a timber bar is used along the width of the entire guide, which is placed on the anchorage to the wall, base, and then the guide is screwed to it.

  1. Fixing the system.

Having started to install new openings or repairs in the room, before you have made your choice on the interior doors, you can mount the skids or niches for them on an additional profile in advance in the wall frame. You need to attach such a guide directly to it. If your choice changes, the niches for the supporting system can be sewn up with drywall and a conventional swing door can be inserted.

Recently, the choice has fallen on multi-section options, do not forget to mount additional grooves for a reinforced type of fastener.

  1. The device of handles, holders on the door itself.

The next step is to attach brackets to the room doors, on which they will be attached to roller or other carriages.

It is necessary to start fastening on the sides of the upper end of the door leaf, stepping back from the edges by 10 mm.

The best choice for self-assembly of products will be the shape of the holder itself in the form of clips on each side of the canvas itself.

This look is suitable for all doors, except for the accordion.

The handles are attached with a screwdriver or screwdriver into the grooves on both sides of the canvas (grooves are provided), if they are not there or external elements are selected, we put them on either side, at a convenient distance from the floor. The locks should be chosen carefully, since some designs do not provide for cutting the locks into the canvas, using the selection of the seat with feathers. Fasten directly to the opening or door frame.

In the case of a standard version of a room door, the markings should be done before installation, at the stage of measuring the parts, and the tie-in can be done after the installation of the entire structure.
For products entirely made of glass, various types of fasteners (holders, clamps), chrome-plated metal products with rubber substrates are used, between which the edge of the glass is clamped. Such clamps will allow you not to drill holes in such a fragile material as glass.

Before installing the doors, it is better to consult with an experienced sales manager to clarify with him the types of fasteners that are best suited for you and the tool that you need for this. Many sliding systems are completed with the necessary parts for installation, you should carefully study the instructions for the room door.

Hello, I am interested in the question, what tools do I need to install doors?

You can install an interior door yourself if you have tools in your arsenal that allow you to do all the work without the involvement of professionals.

Tools needed to assemble and install the door frame
There are two ways to assemble the door frame by sawing down vertical, horizontal racks. Connect the elements with self-tapping screws, proceed with installation in the opening. The installation can be done quickly, without any problems. But there are situations that require improvements to the opening.

All steps are performed with the following tools:

For sawing corners - an end circular saw or a miter box with a hacksaw.

A miter saw and a miter box with a hacksaw are indispensable for sawing corners

To drill holes for self-tapping screws - a drill with a set of drills of the required diameter (by the size of the screws).

To screw in self-tapping screws - a screwdriver with a set of bits or a Phillips screwdriver.

To screw in self-tapping screws, you need a screwdriver or a set of screwdrivers

To install the box in the opening:

  • level;
  • foam gun;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • masking tape so as not to stain the box;
  • screws and dowels.

Everything you need to install the box in the doorway

At all stages, you cannot do without a pencil, tape measure, in order to correctly mark.

You will need a tape measure and a pencil to correctly mark.

If there are problems with the opening (it is smaller or larger in size), use tools to correct the dimensions:

  • puncher;
  • Bulgarian;
  • hammer;
  • nail puller;
  • chisel.

Using these tools, you can enlarge or reduce the size of the doorway.

Using these items, you can increase the opening. To reduce the size, make additional inserts around the perimeter, seal or cement.

Many of the instruments on the list are in the man's house. If something is missing, buy it. It will come in handy on the farm.

Gone are the days when carpentry work could be done with an ax, hammer and chisel. A self-respecting company that implements and installs uses modern, professional tools.

To carry out high-quality, and sometimes filigree work, it is best to contact specialists who, without nails and screws, will perform all the work on. Experienced employees of the company "DM-Service" will fulfill the order with high quality, using prof. tools created using the latest technology. The complex of works includes the installation of fittings, boxes, platbands, accessories (if necessary) and the canvas itself. Professionals use quality hand and power tools. To reduce the risk of damage to expensive materials, door panels, high-tech equipment is used.

Equipment for inserting door fittings:

  • hand-held electric router (with special accessories), convenient for inserting the fittings of locks, removing a layer of wood in the door frame and on the door leaf, forming seats for hinges;
  • a drill is a more convenient and functional tool, for drilling holes of different diameters in a box, if pens are available, it performs various operations.

For installation and adjustment of boxes (if necessary, we put extras), platbands:

  • perforator for increasing openings and installing anchors (it will not hurt to purchase 2 tools, heavy and light);
  • an end saw with an upper horizontal platform, for even cutting of bars and platbands at 45 or 90 degrees, a jigsaw and a hacksaw often "prick" the edge, making it uneven;
  • a circular saw is used to reduce the height of the door (in the case when the opening is lower in height than the technological one), to cut the additional bar;
  • screwdriver, with various attachments, greatly facilitates the process of tightening screws (in hinges, door handles, locks);
  • jigsaw, used in places inaccessible for saws;
  • a special gun for applying polyurethane foam (sealant).

For fastening platbands, many specialists use liquid and finishing nails. We use micropins. They are attached with a reliable, high-quality pneumatic tool, industrial grade - a pneumatic gun. Such installation of platbands is the most popular technology. If the size of the finishing nails is 1.5-3 mm, then the micro-stud is 0.64 mm. We use them for fastening platbands, glazing beads, linings and fixing the additional beam. Micro hairpin - reliable, invisible fastening, without nail caps and rivets. When used to perform a carpentry robot, the door leaf looks monolithic.

Installation is carried out on a laser level - a precise device with an error of 1 mm per 1 meter. The use of the device makes the work better.

Our specialists not only possess professional tools, but also the skills to use them. When buying an interior door, contact a professional for its installation, so as not to be disappointed with a damaged product.

In order for the process of installing interior doors to be successful, it is important to choose the right tool for its implementation. There are many tools available today to make the job easier. The presence of some of them is optional, but in any case, you cannot do without a certain set.

The right set of tools will greatly simplify the door installation process.

Features of installation work

In order to understand what tools you need to install interior doors, you should understand the very process of these works.

For the first experience, it may seem like a very dusty job. In fact, with the proper organization of work and the use of assistive devices, the amount of dirt can be reduced to a minimum.

The whole process can be broken down into several stages:

  1. Removing the old structure. If necessary, the canvas is removed and the old frame is cut out.
  2. Installation of the box. After preliminary assembly and adjustment, the new box is fixed in the opening. Then all the gaps are foamed.
  3. Opening decoration. Excess foam is cut off, the gaps are plastered and covered with platbands. Slopes are drawn up separately.
  4. Installation of doors and fittings. The hinges and the lock are inserted, the canvas is hung on the frame. Handles and additional fittings are also attached.

The main stages of installing an interior door

Necessary materials

In order for the installation work to be successful and not take much time, you need to prepare all the necessary materials in advance and stock up on tools for installing the doors. Speaking specifically about consumables, the following can be distinguished:

  • Polyurethane foam. With its help, the gap between the wall and the box is filled, as well as sound and thermal insulation, shock absorption under changing environmental conditions and reliable adhesion between materials are provided.
  • Headless nails. Basically this is a way to connect frame parts and with minimal visual defects.
  • Putty. It is used to mask defects on the wall, as well as to create a protective layer for foamed joints.
  • Serpyanka. Required for particularly difficult areas to be plastering, especially when it comes to depressions and wide joints.
  • Metallic profile. It is necessary to bring out even corners when finishing slopes.
  • Drywall. Another material that allows you to tidy up the slopes in the opening.
  • Wooden wedges. These are auxiliary materials for fixing the position of the box, installed between the wall and the frame before foaming the gaps.
  • Spacers. Hold the frame in position as the foam expands and dries.
  • Dowel. Hammered into the wall to fix the position of the mounts.
  • Bolts. The main fastening element for.
  • Glue. Allows you to fix platbands and slopes without using nails.
