Marmoleum as the non-known flooring. Cleaning, updating and restoring natural linoleum Composition and specifications

Laying, Natural Lynoleum Linoleum Foro Marmoleum

Requirements for the room

Before laying a natural linoleum, the room temperature should be stable for 48 hours at least. The room temperature in the room should not be descended below 17 ° C. The base temperature should exceed 14 ° C, and relative humidity should not exceed 75%.

Preliminary preparation of natural linoleum to laying

Before laying, the marmoleum rolls should acclimatize indoors within 24 hours, while it is necessary to give rolls a vertical position.
The labels on the prepared rolls should be easily accessible to read, so that it is possible to control the article, color, numbers of rolls and batch. If there are several rolls of the same color in the room, you must make sure that all these rolls from one batch (to avoid varnotone).

Requirements for the foundation:

Flooring natural linoleum begins with the preparation of the foundation. The base for flooring marmoleum must be:

Smooth and monolithic (without lumps, snaps, spots, drops and joints), otherwise all the irregularities of the base will be shown on the surface of the marmoleum after laying. And during operation in uneven places, Marmoleum will be climbing;

The base should be dry (the permissible ground humidity is not more than 2%, measured by the carbide method);

Durable (not lower than 300 kg / cm2);

The base should be clean (without traces of dirt, oils, paints or fat).

Glue for laying natural linoleum

For flooring of natural linoleum, it is recommended to use exclusively water adverium adhesives, specially designed for laying the natural linoleum of marmoleum, namely - Forbo 418 glue.
It is characterized by an exceptionally high adhesive force (at least 3 N / mm2), as well as a high initial adhesive force. Moreover, this glue has, the so-called "moisture retention force". This property is one of the main properties, for adhesives intended for natural linoleum. The fact is that, being more wet, 418 glue develops such adhesive strength, which will either keep the coating from the shrinkage at all, or radically reduce the shrinkage of the coating.
It is not recommended for laying natural linoleum to use two-component polyurethane adhesives, since they do not create an initial adhesive force. This means that you will not be able to completely remove bubbles from the marmole during the glue polymerization period. After the polyurethane glue will react, remove the remaining bubbles under the coating will not be possible.

Preparation of natural linoleum (cutting under the room)

Before the flooring rolls of marmoleum must be rewinded by the front side inside - this will significantly reduce the magnitude of the shrinkage!

It is necessary to unwind a roll along the long wall of the room, cut off, leaving the reserve of 10 cm per each of the sides;

With the help of a trimmer, cut the edge of the leaf of the linoleum on both sides, trimming inside to prevent "PIKING";

Move the sheet of marmoleum to the wall as tight as possible, ensuring that the reserve is 10 cm is evenly distributed on both sides;

Set the length of the long layer of 10 mm larger than the largest distance between the wall and the cover sheet;

Holding a long marking, if possible, perpendicular to the coating, apply the wall circuit using the needle as a markup;

Now we cut off the material on the resulting label using the hook blade, cutting into the inside;

Put the coating tightly to the wall - the configuration of the wall and the contour of the coating must match;

Based on the pencil line (edge), using the free edge of the marmole leaf as a ruler (opposite from the wall);

Based on the marmole leaf, apply a label with a pencil (short transverse line), which will fix the position of the sheet;

Slide the marmoleum sheet along the drawn line edge, until the reserve of 10 cm does not fall freely on the base;

Set a long marking (between the roller stop and needle) somewhat less than the distance (shift) between the tags on the coating and on the basis - to compensate for the shrinkage;

Using the markings set by this way, apply the wall circuit on the coating, after which remove the excess via the resulting circuit using the hook blade, trimming the inside;

Repeat the process described above for the opposite side;
Now let's sweep or spend the base, and put the prepared marmoleum sheet in your place;

If in the room it is necessary to put two sheets of natural linoleum or more, each next sheet is laid in the same way, after which it suits first along the long side, and then from the ends;

In order to ensure accurate marking of the seams, it is preliminarily to place the sheets of the Vansel: by 1.5-2 cm.

How to apply glue for marmolema?

After opening the can, glue should be mixed thoroughly and apply to the base using a TCV / B1 tootham. The consumption of glue, when gluing a natural linoleum, is about 450 g per 1 kV. m.
Circular movements, gently and evenly apply glue to the entire surface of the base. Use, with just one side of the spatula, the other should remain clean. Over glue must be collected by a spatula back to the jar and close it.
After applying glue on the base, there is no need to withstand the "drossing time", since the base absorbs moisture, and the natural linoleum itself is a moisturefrost coating.

Gluing Natural Linoleum Marmoleum

After you cut the marmoleum on the canvas in accordance with the room, it can be glued.
After holding the short sides of the sheets, the prepared marmoleum cannons simultaneously wrap up the base up, freeing 1 half the base area for glue.
The prepared sheets cannot be twisted into the roll, as this will lead to the deformation of the coating and the occurrence of bubbles.

    Based on, along the wrapped edge, carry out the pencil border of the glue;

    Using the corresponding toothed spatula (TKV / B1), apply glue to the base, strictly observing the previously marked glue boundary;

    Place the first part of the marmole for glue and ride;

    After one side of the linoleum strip was laid on the adhesive layer and told, it is necessary to wrap the remaining non-glued edge of the marmoleum and gently apply glue to the base, observing the boundary. If a re-applying glue occurs on the same place, this will appear through the coating in the form of a span;

    Coating Return the roll across the shortest way to drive the air under the coating only after that, roll along the roll.

    After 15 minutes, it is necessary to re-roll the natural linoleum in order to achieve the final and reliable adhesion of the linoleum and the foundation;

    After laying all the policies of the natural linoleum, it is necessary to cut the seams. Using a short commercially, set the width of the seam.

When working with Marmoleumom Forbo, you can:

    for premises, where there is no danger of the appearance of a significant amount of water on the coating, leave a dense seam, abandoning welding, - the transverse expansion of the linoleum makes such a seam extremely dense and reliably protects it from the penetration of a minor amount of water;
    for premises, where the likelihood of water appearance on the coating is very significant, it is necessary to slaughter the seams, for this it is necessary:

    To start the foot of the Combizmekimetchik under the pre-left "Taste", resist the heel into the edge of the glued sheet of coating and, conducting a combination of the coating edge, mark the exact contours of the edge of the edge of the marma oleum;

    Crop the edge by label using a hook blade, all also cut into inside;

    To settle the cropped edge of the coating in the glue, clinging carefully;

    Remove the glue into the coating with a clean wet vet;

    Wash the tool from glue with cold water.

Features of gluing natural linoleum
After you apply glue, you can neatly lay marmoleum. Natural linoleum laid on the glue must be carefully lied with the help of a board, covered with a carpet carpet, air from under linoleum is extruded along the shortest path - in the transverse direction.
After that, it is strongly recommended to roll the entire surface of the marmolem with heavy rolling rollers, weighing 50-70 kg. First, roll the coating in the transverse direction, removing air from-under the coating, and then in the longitudinal direction. Especially carefully should be done in the coating in the seams.

General recommendations for laying natural linoleum
If there are several rolls of one article in the room, you should strive to lay rolls in a sequence with an increase in roll numbers.
The sheets of natural linoleum should be laid in one direction; On the reverse side of the marmoleum applied arrows with the indication of this direction.
Due to the properties of the natural linoleum, when laying into a wet adhesive layer - to give a shrinkage in the longitudinal direction (1mm / 1 mm), it is necessary to rewind the rolls to the face with the front side - this will significantly reduce the shrinkage value.
Due to the properties of natural linoleum, when laying into a wet glue layer, it is somewhat expanded in the transverse direction, it is necessary to cut the marmoleum, slightly tilting the knife so that the linoleum sheets laid next to the top edges come into contact with sharp tops. With the expansion of natural linoleum, sharp edges come into contact and even somewhat crushed, forming a dense seam. This will prevent the squeezing of linoleum in the seams area - the so-called "PIKING", which would have a place if linoleum sheets rested each other throughout the thickness of the coating.

Welding of seams (joints) of natural linoleum

To ensure complete waterproof of the natural flooring, it is necessary to weld the sheets of marmoleum using a special welding cord intended for natural linoleum. We note that with the help of a welding cord of a contrast color on the marmole coating, you can create various designs.
Works on the welding of natural linoleum must be carried out after the polymerization of glue, it is best the next day or a few hours after the flooring. If you proceed to welding immediately after laying the coating, the glue boiling under the influence of hot air, and steam emissions from the seam will not allow reliably to fract the junctions of the marmoleum.
Unlike the welding of PVC coatings, the term "soldering" will be more correctly applied to the natural linoleum, since the hot air is not able to melt the coating made on the basis of wood flour.
With the "welding" of the natural linoleum, the cord consisting of a low-melting polymer, melting, penetrates into the pores of the marmoleum and, frozen, seals seam.
For high-quality "welding" of natural linoleum, it is necessary to use only a professional tool: a hairdryer with a stepped air temperature adjustment, special knives and fixtures.

    Make a "groove" under the seam with a cutting knife - Grovers;

    The depth of the "grooves" should be almost the entire depth of the marmoleum, to the jut base, which cannot be damaged;

    Then it is necessary to carefully vacuuming the seam area;

    Set the temperature of the hair dryer about 350 ° C, to wear a cast nozzle with a diameter of 5 mm and turn on the hair dryer;

    Wait until the nozzle is warmed up to the desired temperature;

    We take a segment of the welding cord with a length of a little more than half of the seam and insert it into a nozzle, immediately press the end of the cord into the groove of the seam and, holding in this position about a second, we begin to move the hair dryer along the seam (with the same, small, speed speed);

    The heel of the nozzle during the movement should always be parallel to the surface;

    It is necessary to choose the correct movement speed of the hair dryer, making sure that the cord is really melted, binding to the coating material; With the right welding process on the sides of the seam, two lanes of tiny beads from the welding cord material are formed;

    Immediately after the end of the welding, while the cord is hot, using a sick-like knife and a nozzle for pre-trimming the cord, remove the excess cord;

    Repeat the welding, ranging from the opposite wall, and start the neck cord into 20 cm on the pre-brewed and cropped cord;

    After the cord temperature comes with the coating temperature, it is necessary to completely remove the excess cord, while the cruciform knife must be held the maximum parallel to the floor surface.
    If you cut the filtered cord in one pass, when the cord is still hot, then as a result, after cooling the cord, the groove will remain - the cord during cooling gives shrinkage. Such carelessness can lead to a significant deterioration in the appearance of the laid coverage, since dirt and dust will be collected in the grooves.

When creating designs in the form of friezes ("framework") you need to cut strips Natural linoleum is only along the roll, but not across. Natural linoleum, being rolled into a roll, has undergone a long-term effect of significant bending forces and is in a stress state. Cutting the strip across the roll, it is impossible to compensate for this tension of the adhesive force (due to the small strip width), as a result of the coating strips, will take a characteristic form - "Gornylem". The smaller the strip width, the more noticeable there will be such an effect. Most often, such a "gorny" cannot be corrected by pressing with decaying in such areas of heavy items.
Therefore, when creating friezes, you need to follow the following rules:
The bands are always stacked in one direction, in accordance with the arrow setting the direction;
Strips of marmoleum, of which form a frieze, jerk only diagonally, at an angle of 45O, - this will allow evenly distributing the voltage and prevent breaks and / or "picing" in the locations of the dock.

Deflection of the drying chamber

Under the term "deflection of the drying chamber", the factor is associated with the production technology of natural linoleum, namely, the preservation on a sheet of linoleum is a stable transverse "wave" of 10-12 cm wide from the crossbar used to tension a natural linoleum leaf when aging marmoleum in the drying chamber.
As a rule, it is located in the middle of the roll - at a distance of 15-16 meters from the start of the roll. Unfortunately, due to the voltage in this area, the laying of the "deflection of the drying chamber" is conjugate with some difficulties. To reliably glue such a plot, there is often no reliable adhesive forces inherent in gluing linoleum adhesive. Therefore, if possible, it is recommended not to use this area if the size of the premises is allowed, the design of the pattern of coating and stock of linoleum.

Cleaning, updating and restoring natural linoleum

Marmoleum is not only beautiful, but also an eco-friendly floor covering is resistant to wear. Like any material, natural linoleum requires care.

To extend the service life of the coating, the reduction of shine and the initial appearance, recommended every 1-2 years (depending on the intensity of the coating operation) to produce a master cleaning of marmoleum.

Below is clearly demonstrated by the "restoration" of the appearance of natural linoleum -amomoleum, on one of our objects.

Marmoleum was intensively operated in the Corridors of the Institute for 2 years and after this time we produced its update. We want to step by step to demonstrate to you the whole process of updating the natural linoleum:

So, in photo 1 (below) you see how the marmoleum looked after 2 years of intensive exploitation.

Fig. one

We begin the process of updating / restoring marmoleum:

Step 1. Cleaning (Fig. 2).

On the most contaminated sections of the floor (dark stripes, which have been driving) rub the diluted cleaner fork 891 (3 caps per 2 liter of water) and leave for 15 minutes, let it dissolve the dirt particles for easier cleaning.

After 15 minutes, my entire floor with water with the addition of the Purifier forbo 891 in a smaller concentration (1: 100 or 1 cap on 2 liters of water).

Step 2.. Thoroughly rinse the floor with ordinary clean water to remove the remnants of the cleaner and dirt (mine twice).

Fig. 2.

Step 3.. On the purified dry floor, we apply the first layer of Mastics forbo 898 (it happens matte / glossy), in this case a glossy mastic was used. (Mastic is applied in 2 layers).

We distribute mastic over the entire surface using fabric without a pile, or (as in this case), a large floor area is processed using a special mop-field. Let the floor dry completely, before applying the second layer of mastic. Important: When distributing mastic, rub it with circular motions and prevent the mastic clusters (whiten stains or strips).

Fig. 3. Mastic is applied in 1 layer.

Step 4. After completely drying the first layer (about 30 minutes), we repeat step 3, we apply the second layer of mastic.

Fig. 4. Mastic is applied in 2 layers.

Step 5. Give the floor to dry completely (minimum of 30 minutes). It should be refracted from walking by grated floor to complete drying.

Every year the construction market pleases weighing new materials. One of these is Marmoleum. This material is used for laying as an outdoor coating, and it cannot be used for another purpose.

What is the material?

The presented product is very similar to the usual linoleum, but it is characterized by its technical characteristics.

Marmoleum has a major feature: it is completely natural material.

The fact is that for the manufacture of manufacturing such components are used: linseed oil, chalk, resin coniferous trees, wood flour, as well as elements of cork oak wood. The use of various dyes allows you to get quite a lot of color options and textures.

Another feature of the product is that the drawing on its surface can retain its brightness and colorfulness for a long time. This is provided by a special application technology, which involves its location over the entire thickness of the layer. Marmoleum stores are sold in the form of panels, rolls, as well as tiles. Rolled option is most often found.

Specifications

Before you purchase this natural material, you need to find out what particular features it possesses. Marmoleum has such specifications:

  1. Warranty period: at least 35 years.
  2. Mechanical strength of the product: 160 kg / cm2.
  3. Standard material dimensions: roll - width - 2 m, thickness - 2-4 mm; Tile - 50x50 or 30x30 cm; Panels - 90x30 cm.
  4. Specific weight: 2.6-3.4 kg / m2.

Classification

Such an outdoor coating has a classification similar to the linoleum. For example, there are such classes of marmoleum:

  • 41-43 - such a product can be considered the most durable and reliable. It is used most often where a large number of people accumulate. For example, you can lay this material in shopping centers, airports, at the station. Thanks to the thickness of the decorative layer, which is 3 mm, it can serve for a long time and efficiently.

For large office space, marmoleum class 31-33 is suitable, for small - 21-23 class. Pay attention to the beauty of the coating pattern.
  • 31-33 - this product is industrial. It is placed in enterprises, in manufacturing workshops and large offices. The thickness of the decorative layer is about 2.5 mm.
  • 21-23 - such a marmoleum is the thinnest and costs cheaper. It is designed for apartments, private houses and small offices. But it is not necessary to think that such a material is less qualitative than the products of previous classes. The warranty period of use of this type of product is about 20 years.

It is not worth choosing an outdoor coating of the highest class. It does not meet your costs. The fact is that in the thick layer over time can be formed from the furniture legs. For home use it is quite suitable for a thin cheap material.

Pros and cons

Marmoleum is distinguished by such advantages:

  • Safety. Since the product is made of natural natural materials, it does not distinguish any harmful substances. In addition, such a coating is well suited to allergic and children. Natural resins that are present in the composition of the material provide a bactericidal effect.
  • High resistance to mechanical effects.
  • The product is well tolerated by ultraviolet rays, so it does not fade.
  • The coating has a high level of resistance to ignition and temperature difference. This feature allows you to use it for the arrangement of warm floors.

  • Resistance to moisture.
  • Despite the relatively small thickness of the layer, such a floor does not require additional noise, thermal and waterproofing. Thanks to this, your repair will end faster, and you will spend much less means.
  • A wide variety of sizes.
  • The possibility of laying the material on the old flooring.
  • Resistance to the effect of chemicals.
  • Good decorative qualities.

And this material almost does not accumulate static electricity.

Despite the fact that this coating is natural, it also has certain disadvantages:

  1. Relative rigidity. Over time, the coating breaks a bit and hardening. This fact does not allow it to apply it for the design of walls or ceilings.
  2. Fragility. During the transportation and use of the product, you need to be especially careful with the edges of the elements. As for rolls, it is possible to roll them only once.
  3. Large weight. But this does not interfere with the marmoleum remain relatively plastic along the edges.
  4. Difficulties in processing. During the cutting of the elements, you will not be able to achieve perfectly even smooth cut. However, this problem is eliminated by mounting the plinth.

As you can see, the marmoleum is not devastated, but they can be eliminated.

Features of laying rolled coating and panels

The presented floor covering has enough good user feedback, which will help you choose the appropriate option. Now you can consider how the marmic laying is made. First of all, it needs to be prepared for work. That is, the roll or tile must lie in the room in which they will fit, no less than a day. During this time, you can remove all the furniture from the room, garbage and well spent the base. Perhaps you will have to additionally align it.

In principle, the flooring of a rolled marmoleum is most often produced in large rooms. The technology of its laying is practically no different from the features of the installation of ordinary linoleum.

As for the panels, they need to be laid as much as possible. The fact is that the fastening latches are thin spikes that can be broken by one non-accurate movement.

Features of mounting tile "Click"

The presented material on the substrate is stacked. It compensates for some irregularities of the foundation, and also prevents the formation of condensation. Typically, such a substrate is made of polyethylene, and stacked with a small adhesive in 20 cm. The additional layer of thermal insulation is not necessary. Please note that for mounting items do not need to use glue.

So, the technology of laying the coating consists of such steps:

  • Installation of the first row. At the same time, consider that you will have to retreat from the wall of approximately 1 cm. This is necessary for the formation of deformation seams. The groove of the first element should be directed in the opposite side of the wall, the comb, on the contrary - to the wall. Marmoleum is simply mounted, but this process has a feature: each subsequent tile must be connected to the previous one under a slight bias.

The photo is the most feature of the installation. The docking of the next tile is performed at an angle.
  • Installation of the second row. It is made in the same way as the previous one. Remember the compensation seam, for this, put a bar under the first tile. After fastening the rest of the elements, it is removed, and locks are snapped.
  • Installation of other rows. In this case, it is necessary to consider parallelism.

Rolled outdoor materials are one of those materials to which the high demands are initially imposed, which are most of the linoleum and laminate. Uncruitable ease of use, long service life and the richest range of models cause the buyer that the buyer prefers "vote by the ruble" for its "pets". However, and here the buyer is waiting for difficulties. Laminated MDF panels (laminate) or linoleum? Lack of significant differences in price only makes it difficult to choose. But no one has canceled free competition, the struggle for the buyer, relevant among the manufacturers, was a tendency to growth and reached its apogee when the manufacturers refused to "invent the bike" and took up the development, at first glance, new, but, as it turned out well forgotten old The material representing the symbiosis of linoleum and laminate. So the marmoleum appeared - the material from the new line of the manufacturer FORBO, the name of which subsequently became nominated.

Marmoleum - new material from environmentally friendly raw materials

Marmoleum, rightfully can be considered a new step in the design of the interior, but a similar statement, the essence of which is, this is marmoleum - this is a product of innovative technologies that have a place in the modern market is a veneer, only half. Despite the fact that the marmoleum, to buy which you can in any construction store, is considered to be a new material, this statement is not reasonable enough. In fact, this material produced by old technologies during the manufacture of which ultra-modern equipment was used. As a result of the modification of the proven chain of manufacturing and using only natural components, consumers were able to undoubtedly acquire a high-quality floor covering, combining the dignity of linoleum and laminate.

Linoleum from natural raw materials - Marmoleum attracts consumer attention with its own unique composition, in which there are no artificially synthesized components. The raw material base for the manufacture of marmoleum includes a corticle of a cork tree, linseed oil, wood flour, chalk and resin coniferous trees. The decorative properties of the marmoleum are not inferior to the technological - a unique method of staining and drawing a picture not only allows the material to continue to maintain its decorative characteristics, but also allows you to significantly diversify the color range of material. The increasing popularity of marmoleum also contributes to other merits of the material to be considered in the article.

The advantages of the marmoleum to which you want to pay attention to

  • Absolute environmental safety of marmoleum due to the use of only natural components in the manufacture of only natural components;
  • Non-toxic and, moreover, hypoallergenic marmoleum has bactericidal properties;
  • The available price of Marmoleum also contributes to its popularization among a variety of segments of the population: the flooring of the floor marmoleum will cost 20-30% cheaper than its finishes with laminate;
  • The presence of the isolation characteristics of the marmoleum causes the absence of additional heat and sound insulation;
  • Resistance to external damaging factors and hygiene of natural linoleum Another advantage of the material. According to the research results, it turned out to be indifferent to the effects of solar radiation, moisture and mechanical deformations. Paint, spilled on the coating of marmoleum, does not stick to it, in connection with which its cleaning does not require the use of specialized cleaning products, it is enough to wipe the floor with a cloth;
  • The lack of a tendency to accumulate static electricity and absolute non-combustibility.
  • For marmoleum, the variety of shades and textures is characterized, which currently includes more than 100 primary colors and a tint palette, which includes more than 2,000 options;

Thus, the marmoleum whose characteristics are presented above, receives a well-deserved championship among finishing flooring. Due to its resistance to temperature and humidity drops, the effects of chemical reagents, mechanical loads, as well as the absence of the need for specialized cleaning, the marmoleum in the kitchen becomes the best solution for those who are a connoisseur finishing materials of the premium class.

Disadvantages of the coating marmoleum

Despite the abundance of advantages inherent in the marmoleum, this material is not deprived of the shortcomings, which also need to say a few words.

  • The fragility, especially expressed along the edges, determines the need for extremely cautious handling of the material in the process of its laying, as well as compliance with certain rules, for example, the twisting of the marmoleum into the roll can be carried out only once, and the basis of the material must be facing the dust;
  • The inclination to solidification, which, on the one hand, is favorable for the floor, and on the other, it may cause cracking. In addition, since the time, the material is somewhat blown over time, which is also only a relative disadvantage that has its own positive parties and makes it possible to not close the seams between the tiles, which in time smoothly converge.
  • The severity of marmoleum, conjugate with residual plasticity and favorable under the condition of the floor decoration, eliminates the use of material for wall decoration, which will cause a possible disruption of the integrity of the material under the influence of gravity;
  • And, finally, the lack of the possibility of obtaining a smooth cut in the process of cutting the material, causes the fact that the marmoleum is cut into only along the walls, where the uneven cut can be covered with a plinth. This somewhat limits the decorative features of the material by laying out the pattern of standard tiles.

Forms of release, classes and individual characteristics of marmoleum

Mormaging forms of Marmoleum

  • Rolled marmoleum for which standard width indicators are characterized by 2 meters, and the variable widths that change depending on the material class.
  • Marmoleum tile standard sizes 50x50cm and 30x30 cm;
  • Standard panels 90x30cm, equipped with an improved castle system, providing for the installation of the lock with glue;

The marmoleum roller is a modified type of PVC linoleum, which is based on a cork crumb that increases the heat and sound insulation properties of the material, as well as providing its additional flexibility. A flexible and elastic basis that ensures the flexibility of the material during the installation process, and as a result, facilitating this event is the cause of significant disadvantages of the marmoleum detected during operation.

Here are the main of them:

  • The tendency to an increase in the linear dimensions of the material during operation, to prevent what the wizards advise the linoleum to "fly away" and only after that press the plinth;
  • The legendary wear resistance of the marmoleum, due to its increased rigidity, can turn into another disadvantage of the material - an unstable structure, which is the cause of the appearance of the pellets from furniture. High rigidity affects the quality of the material elasticity, which becomes the cause of the violation of its initial structure;
  • The cork crumb that eliminates the use of toxic laminate substances, also adversely affects its elasticity and slightly reduces thermal conductivity.

Despite all the existing myths about the brittleness of the rolled marmoleum, we will try to dispel your fears: with careful handling of the material, in the absence of its inflection and compliance with the instructions, rolling, cropping and laying the material will not give you extra trouble.

Marmoleum classes

Speaking about the classes of marmoleum, we highlight three main:

  • 41-43 The marmoleum class is characterized by the presence of an upper decorative layer exceeding 3mm. It has the greatest resistance to mechanical impacts and is mainly used to finish public premises with a continuous flow of visitors;
  • 31-33 class. Marmoleum designed to finish industrial premises. The thickness of the upper decorative layer is not more than 2.5 mm. It is characterized by less resistance to variable loads than the previous class for the marmoleum, but static loads are the prerogative of the described class;
  • 21-23 Class - Marmoleum of General Purpose. The previous classes are characterized by a lesser thickness of the upper layer (less than 2mm), however, for the decoration of the residential premises is considered the most preferred option, not only in terms of lower cost, but also greater wear resistance. It is important to note that this type of marmoleum, the price of which depends on class affiliation is most preferable for decoration of residential premises.

Thus, the logical conclusion, the essence of which is that it is not necessary to choose the most expensive material in pursuit of its greater wear resistance. The first class of marmoleum, despite the high thickness of the upper layer and the highest cost, not resistant to static loads, and therefore, mechanical deformations can be formed under the action of long-standing furniture on linoleum. This can be avoided by choosing a cheaper material designed to finish residential premises and with greater stability to static loads.

Marmoleum Forbo. Historical facts

As already mentioned, the American firm forbo became a pioneer in the production of a qualitatively new variety of linoleum, called Marmoleum.

Subsequently, the word "Marmoleum" became nominable and began to be used to name similar products from other manufacturers. In accordance with the results of numerous testing, Marmoleum Forbo is a floor covering, relevant to international quality standards and meets environmental safety requirements. Forbo Marmoleum is most popular among consumers, characterized by the presence of the lock mechanism, which is manufactured using Aquaprotect technology. The coating production is carried out in the form of a panel or tile, the basis of which is a plug and moisture-resistant NDF coated with a protective layer.

Marmoleum Forbo is resistant to mechanical factors, as a result, it is not terrible damage to animal claws, thin female studs and other influences that would be detrimental to other flooring. No wonder, Paul Marmoleum Forbo got the name "unhappy".

Technological features of laying marmoleum of various form of release

If in the process of laying the marmoleum you decided to use tools for laminate, then it is necessary to use them with great care, since the edges of the material are characterized by fragility. Ideally, it is better to give preference to a rubber or wooden hammer and a clamp-hook, with a hook of at least 150 mm, however, in general, the toolkit remains standard.

Preparation of the basis

In most cases, there is no need to prepare the foundation before laying marmoleum, since it can be laid on the previous coating using any mounting glue, however, if the previous coating has been subjected to strong wear, laying the marmoleum better directly to the concrete basis, without worrying about the need for additional thermal insulation, Since marmoleum is a high-quality heat insulator. In the case of montage of marmoleum to the previous coating, the tile lays an approach with the use of glue, while the panels, in view of their fragility, it is better to mount on a concrete basis.

Concrete base and cement-sand screed is needed in additional alignment. It is necessary to get rid of sharp protrusions that can reach 1.5-2 mm and are removed using a drill or a grinder. By putting alignment, the dust is selected from the floor, the residues are collected by a vacuum cleaner, and the floor is sprayed with water.

Cutting material

Cutting material must be started from determining the number of one-piece tiles or panels, after which the number of rows that will lie down the length of the room are determined. In the measurement process, it is necessary to take into account the clearance of at least 15-30 mm around the perimeter, which is closed with plinths. It must be taken into account so that in the process of deformation the coating is not raised after the expiration of time.

Laying of tiled marmoleum

The tile marmoleum, equipped with a locking system, often places on the plastic base that the brass is laid. It is used to prevent the formation of condensate. In the process of marmoleum "Click" does not require the use of glue, as a result of which the laying is made by the "floating" method. In the process of assembly activities, tile is connected by the "groove comb" system. The first tile must be deposited by retreating 1 cm from the wall, while the groove is directed towards the opposite wall, and the comb - to the wall. Each subsequent first row tile is inserted into the groove of the previous tile under a slight inclination.

The laying of the second row is also carried out under the tilt with the mandatory formation of the compensation seam, for which it is necessary to put under the tile of the bar. By installing the rest of the tiles, the bar is cleaned, and the locks snap. After completing the work on the last next, it is necessary to make sure the parallelism of the rows and check the distance from the wall to the tiles. By mounting the final range, part of the groove is removed, a small amount of glue is applied to the tile and bubble with a bar. The gap formed between the wall and tile is closed with a plinth.

Rolled marmoleum. Features of the flooring

Flooring rolled marmoleum is carried out mainly in large, commercial premises. The technological features of the flooring at the same time do not distinguish the flooring of commercial and semi-dimensional varieties of linoleum. However, there are some nuances that need to be observed:

  • the base should be absolutely clean, without traces of paint or oil substances;
  • mandatory use of specialized glue.

Laying panel marmoleum

Panel Marmoleum won the recognition of consumers by simplicity of installation measures. Installation of the "fast floor", so it was called consumers, carried out several times faster than the installation of the traditional tile floor.

In the process of installing panel marmoleum, it is important to comply with the safety rules and carefully handle panels, since the material is inclined to the formation of cracks and deformities. To properly install the panels, it is necessary to close the structure of the material closely, since the spikes located on the side of the panels can be easily damaged during inexperienced.

Marmonium flooring

In the process of maintenance of the coating, it is not recommended to carry out machine cleaning, and in the process hand-use abrasive sponges. From the point of view of the greatest effectiveness, the dry cleaning has proven itself, and in the event of the appearance, it is difficult to derived spots - wet cleaning using neutral cleaning agents. Currently, specialized cleaning agents are invented - manteleers intended for maintaining the presentable type of solid floors.
