How to repair a hole in a plasterboard, brick, concrete wall? How and what to fix a crack in a wall - effective ways How to fix holes in a wall from a puncher.

Often during repairs, it turns out that a hole has formed in the wall. In order for the finish to look beautiful, the damage must be repaired. The restoration technology differs depending on the size of the damage and the material from which the wall was built. Even a person without experience in performing construction work can qualitatively close the hole.

Why do holes form in the walls?

When the old wallpaper or other decorative coating is removed during the renovation, it is found that holes have formed on the walls. Before answering the question: how to patch up a hole in the wall, you need to figure out what holes there are and why they arise.

Small holes on the wall arise from dowels, nails, screws hammered into them, or as a result of mechanical damage.

Holes after relocating outlets can spoil the appearance of the finish. How or on a concrete surface will be described below.

Through holes arise in the places where utilities pass under mechanical stress, when deep cracks are not repaired for a long time.

Cracks are formed when the house shrinks and when the building is exposed to vibration loads.

Renovations made in a timely manner extend the life of the building and ensure a beautiful appearance of the decorative finish.

Reconstruction of a surface with small holes

If there is a dowel in the wall, you must first pull it out from there. To do this, twist a screw into a dowel, grab it with pliers and pull it out of the wall with loosening movements.

After that, the hole is cleaned from dust, which will be an obstacle for the surface to adhere with the solution. Moisten the hole with water. As a mixture for sealing holes in walls, you can use:

  • cement-sand mortar, mixed in a ratio of 1: 3;
  • building plaster;
  • adhesive for Ceresit tiles.

The prepared solution should be creamy. If the hole is large, small stones are added to the mixture.

Push the solution to the very base, tamp it well with a thin stick or other object. After the surface has dried, it must be plastered, filling the remaining voids and cracks formed during drying.

When the surface is completely dry, grout with sandpaper.

The interpanel seams have parted

This section provides information, from concrete, if the seams have parted.

If cracks have formed in the interpanel seams, they need to be urgently repaired. To close deep holes in the wall, polyurethane foam is used. It is sold in two types: professional for a construction gun and non-professional with a straw. If there is a device for a foam cylinder in the house, it is better to purchase a professional type, since it has less consumption and higher quality.

Step-by-step instructions on how to repair a hole in a concrete wall:

  1. They clean the surface from dust and debris. They clean up the remains of building materials.
  2. Polyurethane foam adheres better to a damp surface, therefore, before applying it, the gap is abundantly moistened with a spray bottle.
  3. Shake the can well and fill the hole with foam. If the hole is very deep, apply the foam in layers. Each subsequent one is applied after the previous one has dried.
  4. Within 1-2 days, the foam expands, filling the smallest microcracks on the wall. Until it is completely dry, its integrity must not be disturbed.
  5. When the foam hardens, cut off its protruding parts with a knife.
  6. The surface is leveled with plaster or putty, then cleaned with sandpaper.

When working with polyurethane foam, you need to be careful. The material adheres firmly to skin and clothing. The body can be washed off with a solvent. If it gets on your clothes, it will be damaged.

Crack repair

The crack surface is expanded with a grinder and its edges are leveled. For better adhesion, two coats of primer are applied to the material used for the repair. The next layer is applied after the previous one has dried.

How to fix a hole in the wall:

  • Cement mortar with the addition of lime. Most often, cracks are formed at the junctions of bricks, at the junctions of a concrete surface with a brick wall. In this case, a construction mesh is used for repairs. The cavity is filled with a solution, a steel mesh is laid on it. After the first layer has dried, fill the remaining space with lime-cement mortar.
  • A waterproof putty is prepared from a mixture of concrete and paint. Cement is poured into the paint, constantly stirred until a mixture of creamy consistency is obtained. Cracks are filled with this composition.
  • Joiner's glue is mixed with chalk powder to obtain a creamy mass. Apply the composition to the cracked place. The protruding excess is immediately removed.

It is important to detect and eliminate the crack at an early stage. Otherwise, it will gradually increase.

Restoring the integrity of the wall after moving the outlets

When transferring outlets, excess holes must be sealed with cement or plaster mortar. When the hole is large, the question arises of how to seal the holes in the concrete walls so that the material does not crack.

The restoration technology depends on the depth of the hole. If it is more than 5 cm, you will need a stone or a piece of foam of the appropriate size.

Step-by-step instructions on how to patch holes in a concrete wall:

  1. The cavity is cleaned of dust and debris. Moisten with water.
  2. They hammer in several self-tapping screws around the edges, they will hold the mortar and filler.
  3. Fill the bottom of the hole with the solution.
  4. Cover the inside with a stone or foam.
  5. The hole is filled with cement or plaster mortar. If cracks form after it dries, they are repaired.
  6. A thin layer of finishing putty is applied to a dry surface.
  7. The filled hole is cleaned with fine-grained sandpaper.

Compliance with the technology for performing work contributes to obtaining a flat surface. It is not recommended to blow out dust, it can get into the eyes, it is better to use a vacuum cleaner.

Through hole repair

Holes drilled through for the installation of communications in a brick wall or panel are sealed with silicone sealant, polyurethane foam or cement-sand mortar.

  1. Around the damaged area, draw a rectangle under the ruler.
  2. Cut with a knife along the marked line.
  3. On the back of the hole formed, two wooden strips are attached parallel to each other, which will hold the patch.
  4. A rectangle of such a size is cut out of a piece of drywall so that it fits snugly in place of the cut area.
  5. Insert the patch into place, fix it with self-tapping screws.
  6. First, the joints are putty, and then the entire surface of the rectangle.

How to cover up holes from self-tapping screws:

  1. Prepare a putty solution. It is sold dry and ready-made. If the volume of work is small, it is better to purchase a dry mixture. The finished putty dries quickly after opening the container.
  2. Fill the hole with the solution.
  3. After drying, rub with fine sandpaper.

If there are holes from the self-tapping screws on the drywall wall, it is enough to simply fill them.

At a time, you can see in the video:

During renovation work, it is often necessary to repair holes in the walls. This type of work does not require specific skills. Even a teenager can fill a hole in the wall. If the technology for performing the work is observed, no one will even guess that recently there was a hole in this place.

Repair is a responsible and long-term event. Therefore, most people choose to entrust repairs to professionals. They will calculate the cost of the material without errors, and take into account all possible nuances.

However, sometimes there are situations when it is not at all necessary to call a specialist, because minor breakdowns can be eliminated on your own without unnecessary costs. To do this, you just need to know the exact instructions and adhere to them. Holes in the wall are just such minor everyday troubles.

How to repair holes in a brick or concrete wall?

In order to independently repair the formed holes in the wall, you must follow the step-by-step instructions:

  1. Step 1. So that the material with which you will cover the hole does not fall off after drying, it is necessary to increase the diameter of the hole with a knife, nail or other sharp object.
  2. Step 2. Use a dry cloth, brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust and old putty from the hole.
  3. Step 3. Wipe the treated hole with a wet rag or a piece of foam rubber to help the mortar adhere.
  4. Step 4. Wait for the water to dry.
  5. Step 5. Use a putty to seal the hole in the wall.
  6. Step 6. Wait for the mixture to dry.
  7. Step 7... Using sandpaper, sand the surface to make it smooth.
  8. Step 8. Cover the former hole with an appropriate material: wallpaper, paint, decorative filler, etc.

That's all - the hole, as it never happened!

Now let's turn your attention to the material that can be used to fix such holes.

Several factors influence the choice of material:

  • the size of the unwanted hole;
  • type of damage;
  • location of the damaged surface.

Ways to "patch" holes in the wall

With putty

The putty is a versatile, proven material for leveling various surfaces over the years. In this case, the nature of the surface itself and the material from which it is made are absolutely not important. Why? Yes, because there are many types of putty, each of them has its own properties and characteristics.

Types of putty:

  1. cement- used for both indoor and outdoor work

Advantages:

  • suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
  • very durable
  • high moisture resistance

Disadvantages:

  • the impossibility of maintaining the desired texture during stripping.
  1. plaster.

Advantages:

  • variety of subspecies: external and internal

Disadvantages:

  • can be used only for interior work
  • very poor moisture resistance
  1. acrylic ready mixes.

Advantages:

  • used only for finishing works

Disadvantages:

  • it is impossible to apply such a putty in a thick layer for a thorough leveling of the surface

In any case, the choice of filler depends on the degree of unevenness of the surface and the type of work.

If the unwanted hole is very small, only the finishing putty will be enough.

If the hole is more impressive in size, proceed according to the plan:

  • with a construction knife clean the hole from the crumbled pieces of materials and align the edges of the unwanted hole;
  • put crumpled newspapers in the hole to save your time and material;
  • cover the hole plaster mix with newspapers;
  • if necessary or possible it is advisable to glue the construction tape over the area of the hole;
  • further this place in the wall with a spatula the corresponding size is processed with putty;
  • the putty dries up;
  • wipe out a former hole sandpaper.

No putty is suitable for filling through holes. This hole will be leaky.

Correctly apply the putty not only to the damaged area in the wall, but also around it.

The average drying time of the putty is 6 - 8 hours. Until the putty dries, no further work should be carried out. The sealed surface must be checked for strength and the presence of cracks. If any have formed after drying, they must be repaired.

Using polyurethane foam

This material is multifunctional. You cannot do without it either when installing windows and doors, or when sealing cracks and holes.

Types of polyurethane foam by composition:

  • one-component- immediately ready for use;
  • two-component- immediately before use requires mixing, special construction equipment (construction gun or gun - mixer).

Advantages:

  • when leaving the cylinder, the volume of foam increases several times;
  • foam adheres easily to any surfaces;
  • high density;
  • high speed of solidification.

Disadvantages:

  • over time, shrinkage of the material is possible.

Foam can be safely used if the hole in the wall or between the walls is small, but deep. No material will penetrate as deeply into the wall as foam does.

After the polyurethane foam hardens, it will be necessary to cut off its excess with a construction knife, clean it with sandpaper and putty.

Using the repair mixture

Advantages:

  • high ability to adhere to other surfaces;
  • frost resistance;
  • moisture and vapor tightness;
  • durability;
  • strength;
  • does not change properties with temperature changes;
  • is an antiseptic.

Types of repair mixes:

  • mixtures for the repair of vertical surfaces;
  • mixtures for the repair of horizontal surfaces.

Various types of repair mortars are commonly used when filling large holes.

How to make an almost invisible hole?

In order to close such a hole, you can use any of the above materials, depending on your capabilities and the expected result.

Before starting work, you need to prepare the following materials and tools:

  • long nail or something similar - they need to increase the diameter of the hole in the wall so that the material with which you will close the hole better penetrates the base
  • vacuum cleaner- remove excess dust
  • brush and water- with a damp brush, it is necessary to treat the hole in order to improve the quality of work
  • repair mortar- directly for filling the hole
  • putty knife- for applying repair mortar
  • sandpaper- for final processing of the result

If the hole in the wall is big and deep enough your efforts will take much more.

After the standard cleaning of the dust hole with a vacuum cleaner and a damp brush, it is necessary to seriously consider the issue of material choice. Most often, specialists use several finishing materials at once - for starting and finishing works separately. For example, construction foam is covered with a finishing putty on top.

If, after the finishing material dries, cracks appear in it, they must be covered again.

If the hole is completely impressive in size, then a piece of brick or other material can be placed in it, and then it can be repaired with a building mixture. This will significantly reduce the cost of finishing materials and save your time.

How to patch holes in drywall?

Drywall is a material designed for leveling walls. For its manufacture, refractory gypsum and sheets of special cardboard are used.

Advantages of drywall:

Disadvantages of drywall:

  • fragility
  • high hygroscopicity
  • the inevitability of reducing the size of the room due to the use of a profile and sheets of drywall

As you can see, there are not many shortcomings, but sometimes unwanted holes appear in this material. When filling holes in drywall, the properties of this material should be taken into account.

In order not to completely change the drywall sheet, you can close up a hole in it.

Ways to seal holes in drywall:

  • Method 1. It is necessary to insert a piece of drywall or other similar material into the hole and fix it with screws from the outside.
  • Method 2. Fix the patch with plaster and an adhesive watering can, followed by a putty

Tool required to seal a hole in drywall:

  • putty knife
  • drywall knife or hacksaw for metal
  • drywall planer
  • drill
  1. Step 1. Using a drywall knife, cut a rectangle out of the hole in the drywall.

    It is important that the drywall knife is sharp.

  2. Step 2. Using a planer, cut off the edges of the resulting rectangle at an angle of 45 degrees.
  3. Step 3. Cut out the patch with a knife.

    The patch must fit. To do this, the edges of the patch must also be cut off at an angle of 45 degrees using a planer. The thickness of the patch must match the thickness of the base sheet.

  4. Step 4. Cover the edges of the rectangle with plaster and apply a patch.
  5. Step 5. Additionally secure the patch with duct tape around the perimeter.
  6. Step 6. Let the solution dry well.
  7. Step 7. Cover with starting, and after finishing putty.

In any case, it is necessary to act depending on the size of the hole, its location and the characteristics of the material. And absolutely everyone can do this work!

Concrete is a strong, durable and solid building material. However, over time, it undergoes various deformations (cracks, chips, holes, cracks). There are many reasons that affect the formation of defects - from rearranging furniture and sockets to shrinking a building. The process of filling holes in with your own hands is not difficult, but it is necessary to adhere to the correct technology and sequence for eliminating defects, as well as take into account the nature and size of the gap.

Reasons for the formation of defects

Concrete, like other building materials, has a degree of wear and tear and a service life. The quality of a building material is determined by parameters such as material composition, proportions of components, type of aggregate, vibration, weather conditions, etc. In addition to low-grade material, the formation of holes and holes in a concrete wall is caused by many factors:

  1. Uneven structure shrinkage and vibration. It occurs due to incorrect distribution of the load on the walls of the building or incorrect laying of the foundation. Subsequently, gaps and cracks form in the wall. With significant deformations of the structure, collapses of ceilings and walls occur, therefore, first the root causes are eliminated - the supports, the foundation are strengthened and issues with shrinkage and vibration load are resolved. Only after that work is carried out to seal the holes.
  2. Impact of natural conditions. Temperature drops, active solar radiation, strong winds negatively affect the condition of the concrete masonry. External seams, staircases and upper floors of the building are primarily affected.
  3. Drying out of the concrete solution over time leads to the formation of holes and cracks. Reinforced concrete structures are characterized by through cracks and gaps.
  4. Renovation work. Moving sockets and switches, laying pipes, rearranging kitchen furniture, fixing cabinets, chandeliers, plumbing, air conditioning leads to the formation of all sorts of structures.

Tools and materials for restoration

Before starting work, you need to decide on the scale of the restoration and prepare the necessary tools. The concrete pavement is restored using the following means:

  • cement;
  • sand;
  • ready-made concrete solution;
  • fragments of bricks, stones, rags;
  • gypsum;
  • primer;
  • antifungal agents for the walls;
  • putty.

Required tools for patching most defects:

  • vacuum cleaner to remove dust;
  • glasses for eye protection;
  • sandpaper for cleaning the surface;
  • brushes of different diameters;
  • narrow and wide spatula;
  • dowels;
  • knife, screwdriver.

Depending on the size of the hole, the amount of materials and the set of tools changes.

Step-by-step instructions for sealing small holes

After removing a nail, screw from the wall, moving a shelf or cabinet, small holes are formed. To cope with filling such a hole, you can use a putty or concrete mortar and several tools. The sequence of work on the restoration of minor defects includes the following activities:

  • widening the hole with a screwdriver, knife or nail for deeper penetration of the mixture;
  • cleaning the hole with a vacuum cleaner or brush from dust and small debris;
  • spraying with water to moisten;
  • priming the surface with a sponge or spray gun for better adhesion and less consumption of putty material;
  • after the primer has dried, putty is applied and the surface is smoothed;
  • cleaning the surface with sandpaper after drying.

Closing big gaps

Holes of significant size are the result of dismantling work (transfer of electrical outlets, switches). To seal such holes, you will need a primer, cement or gypsum mortar, crushed stones or crushed bricks, finishing putty, spatulas, sandpaper.

Defect elimination works include 5 stages:

  1. Clearing the hole from debris and dust. A vacuum cleaner or brush is used.
  2. Treatment of the problem area with a primer mixture.
  3. Filling the hole with crushed stone or brick fragments mixed with cement (gypsum) mortar. Thus, the problem area will be strengthened, and the consumption of putty material will be reduced. The resulting mixture is well compacted to avoid voids. A cement slurry is prepared from 3 parts of sand and 1 part of cement with the addition of water. Also, ready-made compositions for concrete walls, tile glue or gypsum are used. The mixtures are diluted according to the attached instructions to the consistency of heavy cream.
  4. After the patch has dried, putty work begins. Remaining voids and cracks are filled if necessary. The putty dries out within 10-12 hours.
  5. The finally dried area is leveled with sandpaper or a grinder to the level of the main wall.

The mixture may fall out of the large holes after drying. To restore the integrity of the surface, the main part of the pothole is laid with bricks on concrete mortar. The hole is pre-expanded. Further restoration work is carried out according to the above scheme.

The correct timely assessment of the size of the defect and the selection of the necessary materials will make it easy to cope with the restoration on your own.

Eliminate through holes

Often, through cracks and holes appear in concrete structures after the transfer of communications and plumbing. The technology of filling a through gap consists in sequentially closing the hole with plywood or a board from 2 sides. First, a filler is placed in the hole, after which a concrete or gypsum solution is applied.

With closed access to one side of the hole, installation is carried out according to the following instructions:

  • the site expands, excess debris, dirt and dust are removed;
  • the opening is moistened;
  • a primer is applied;
  • a fulcrum for the filler is created using either self-tapping screws (4-5 holes for dowels are drilled in a concrete wall along the edges or self-tapping screws are screwed in);
  • after installing the mount, empty areas are filled with filler (stones, foam, chipped brick or cloth soaked in a solution) and filled with the prepared mixture;
  • the dried area is putty;
  • after hardening, the putty is rubbed with a fine-grained mesh or sandpaper to the level of the wall.

When using rags as a filler, saturate them with a solution. After that, the entire fabric is tightly packed into the hole and filled with a solution with the addition of small pebbles (this way the filler will be better compacted).

The concrete mixture is easily prepared with your own hands from cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3. Water is added until the solution reaches the consistency of thick sour cream. Ready mixtures are also diluted with water until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The method of filling such holes is shown for both wet and dry rooms.

Repair of a gap with polyurethane foam

Large holes, cracks and potholes in a concrete wall are sealed with foam:

  1. The problem area is deepened, cleared of dirt and dust.
  2. The area is moistened from the spray for better adhesion of the foam to the surface.
  3. Before spraying, the can of foam is shaken, the product is applied from the bottom up. The foam increases in volume, so the area is not filled to the full depth.
  4. After drying, the excess foam is cut off with a sharp knife slightly deeper than the wall level.
  5. The required area is leveled with a solution until it solidifies completely.
  6. The patch is putty, and after drying it is sanded.

The foam has a high penetration capacity into the most difficult and shallow areas. In 24-48 hours, she fills the desired area, after which the excess is removed.

For repair work with potholes in rooms with low air temperatures, frost-resistant polyurethane foam is used. The restoration of deep seams, cracks and interpanel gaps requires a special device - a foam gun, which will provide the best quality and ease of use.

The sequence of sealing joints with foam is no different from eliminating holes. Deep cracks and gaps are foamed in layers. After one layer has completely dried, the next one is applied. Care should be taken when working with polyurethane foam, as it adheres tightly to clothing and the body.

Elimination of other defects

In addition to holes and gaps, cracks, joint cracks and chips form in concrete walls. Repair work to eliminate cracks in the joints is slightly different from sealing holes:

  1. The slot is expanded along the entire length by 1 cm with a grinder, the edges are leveled.
  2. The crack is cleaned out with a sharp object from the remnants of dirt and dust.
  3. For better adhesion, it is wetted twice with a primer mixture. The second layer is applied after the first has dried.
  4. The crack is sealed with a solution, and after hardening, it is sanded with sandpaper.

If gaps occur at the junction of concrete with bricks, a construction mesh is used. A cavity with a mixture, a steel mesh is placed on top. After drying, the remaining area is filled with a cement mortar with the addition of lime.

In addition, waterproof concrete and paint mixtures are used to fill the gaps. Cement is poured into a container with paint and mixed until a thick mixture is formed.

Small cracks are lubricated with a mixture of wood glue and powder chalk, brought to a creamy consistency. The resulting mass is applied to the cracked area, the excess is removed.

After laying cables and pipes of small diameter, small holes are covered with silicone, large cracks are foamed.

Plaster detachments and chips are cleaned, treated with special anti-fungal agents (if necessary), primed and plastered in several layers. Each layer is completely dry before applying the next one. This sequence of application will save the surface from further cracking. The final action is to clean the area with sandpaper or a sander. Cracks are repaired as soon as they are discovered, as they grow rapidly.

The time and method for eliminating defects in concrete structures are closely related to the size of the hole, hole or crack. Minor damages are covered with ready-made putty mixture. Large holes require you to follow the restoration step-by-step instructions. All problem areas are pre-prepared, cleaned, plastered and then sanded.

Subject to the technology and algorithm of actions to restore the gap, the solution reliably fixes the patch, keeping it from cracking, peeling. Guided by schemes for the restoration of various types of damage, even an inexperienced person can easily repair a hole in concrete with his own hands.

Today we will find out with you how and how to seal a hole in the wall and on the ceiling. Making repairs, you will certainly face the task of preparing perfectly flat walls for wallpapering or painting. This path is not fast and involves many construction operations.

How to repair a hole in a concrete wall

First, let's look at how to patch up a hole in a concrete wall. Let's get closer to our wall and take a look at it:

Ugly, nothing to say. When you completely remove the wallpaper and remove all unnecessary, then something like this it will look like. Everything must be stripped down to concrete. White spots on the wall may remain if these are pieces of stubborn old putty or glue that have already grown together with the concrete and cannot be intensively cleaned.

After a while, you saw that somewhere the foam did not fit well (or a piece of foam fell out); in another place, an unpatched chip was found in the wall with a depth of about 1-2 cm; plus to everything in 2, 3 places it would be nice to close up small dents. So imagine that to solve such a seemingly simple task, you will need foam, plaster and putty again.

But you threw out the remnants of dry mixes, and the polyurethane foam ran out. At the same time, no one in the store will sell you 0.5 kg of putty, 0.5 kg of plaster and 2 "puffs" of foam. So you need to buy everything on a new basis, in large quantities, while spending a lot of money.

Someone will say: oh, why did I throw out the remnants of the plaster ahead of time, they would be so useful to me now. But, nothing can be done, you need to go to the store. And then, the worst thing, having bought more than necessary again, put the leftovers in the trash. And this happens quite often.

Some manage to store materials, as they say, until the next repair. However, it must be remembered that all materials have a shelf life: usually it is 6 months, a year, two, and then they must be thrown away. What to do in this situation? It turns out there is a way out!

If you look in stores, then there is the so-called putty putty. In some cases, it can replace conventional putty, and in others, plaster. I worked with a putty on polyurethane foam. It looks like this:

A distinctive feature of this material is that the thickness of the embedded layer can be up to 10 cm! Yes, yes, not mm, namely cm! Putty putty is sold ready-made, has good (adhesion), environmentally friendly, does not crack even with a large thickness of the filling.

If you take the putty on polyurethane foam, then it is also moisture resistant, has protection against fungi and mold. Designed for finishing both indoor and outdoor premises. Here is an example of when this putty can be used. As I said earlier, the part of the wall that was not foamed in the junction with the ceiling:

Putty will come in handy here. For work, it is better to take a rubber spatula. The material must first be mixed well:

The foamed seam of the glass unit adjoining the wall is also perfectly sealed with a putty:

In general, you have leveled the walls, filled up the holes. Do not be lazy, go around and inspect everything around again. And if it suddenly turns out that there are places for sealing, then do not rush to buy huge bags of dry mixtures for preparing solutions from them. Just remember the wonderful putty putty.

How to patch a drywall hole on a wall

Consider two options for solving the problem, when the hole is small and large.

How to close up a small hole

If the hole in the drywall is small - up to 5 mm in diameter, then plaster, putty is not required for this:

You can seal such a hole with acrylic sealant. The sealant should be acrylic, not silicone. After all, acrylic sealant is easy to paint, but silicone is not. So, we take a gun and begin to carefully fill our hole with acrylic:

We smear the excess that has come out with a spatula:

If the acrylic is rubbed in, take the gun and stuff it into the hole until it comes out. And then again gently spread with a spatula.

The hole is sealed. The next day, when the sealant dries up, it remains just to lightly sand it with zero-grade sandpaper:

How to close up a large hole

If the damage is more extensive:

then the sealant is indispensable. For these purposes, you will need a putty. But first you need to remove the chamfer:

and trim off excess paper that may peel off later. This will require a blade or knife, you can even clerical. So, the chamfer was removed, the protruding paper was cut:

After that, you need to prime the hole. We take a brush, a primer and primer thoroughly so that the primer gets both inside and out:

When the primer is dry, take the plaster glue mixture and carefully fill the hole with it:

You need to score properly, do not rush:

After the mixture has dried:

sand with sandpaper:

Then we take a knife and in this area draw a rectangle about 10 cm by 15 cm with the tip of the knife, cutting only the paper so that the damage is in the middle of the rectangle:

and remove the paper:

Moreover, you need to remove the paper carefully, completely, to plaster, so that there are no scraps of paper in the area of the rectangle.

After removing the paper, let's prime our surface:

When the primer dries, we glue a piece of serpyanka (plaster mesh) cut out according to its size into our rectangle:

After that, we put putty into this area and begin to putty:

As the putty dries up, all that remains is to lightly sand the area to be repaired with sandpaper.

This concludes the article. Today we have analyzed in detail how and how to repair a hole in the wall and ceiling on a concrete and plasterboard base.

Often, regardless of our desire, we are faced with unpleasant everyday problems. For example, a hole appeared in the wall and, of course, it must be urgently repaired. What are the reasons for its formation is another question. Now we are faced with the main problem - a defect in the wall surface. You can solve it in different ways. The choice of a solution depends, firstly, on the size of the hole itself, and, secondly, on what material the wall is made of.

Sealing a hole in a brick, concrete or brick-concrete wall

Sealing holes in walls made of any material always requires certain preparatory work. If we are dealing with an unwanted hole in one of these strong walls, then the preparation is almost always the same and does not depend on the size of the hole. First of all, you will need to clean the edges of the hole from the remains of plaster, whitewash or peeling paint. If the wall is covered with wallpaper, use a sharp cutter (such as a knife) to cut a rectangular piece of wallpaper around the hole. In general, you need to remove all unnecessary things that may interfere with the completion work. Further measures depend on the extent of the damage to the wall.

  • Small hole in a concrete or brick wall

Such damage in the wall can result from an unsuccessful attempt to hammer a nail into it, removing an unnecessary dowel or hook for a mirror, etc. Sealing such a wall defect will require a brush or a piece of foam rubber, a small spatula, a vacuum cleaner, sandpaper and high-quality putty or alabaster, gypsum, satengips, isogypsum or some other type of gypsum. You can also use a cement mortar with sand (ratio 1: 3). But first of all, you need a screw or dowel with a diameter and length to fit the hole.

The procedure for sealing a small hole in the wall:

With the help of the screw or dowel mentioned above, we slightly expand the hole of the hole with back-and-forth movements, so that the putty or solution penetrates it better;
using a vacuum cleaner, we clean the hole from plaster chips and dust;
slightly moisten the hole with a wet brush or foam rubber - this will prevent the plaster from dragging water out of the repair mortar, which can affect its strength;
using a spatula, we apply a putty or other solution to the place of damage, carefully rubbing it into the recess of the hole, and level the surface;
we wait until the place of repair is completely dry and carefully clean it using sandpaper;
then we paint over this place, paste over with wallpaper or cover it in some other way (everything, of course, to match the wall).

  • Large hole in a brick or concrete wall

To the list of tools and materials that are used to seal small holes, you will have to add a large spatula and fine plaster. But instead of it (in case of absence), you can use any of the building plaster listed earlier.

Sequence of work:

Using a vacuum cleaner, we clean the hole (depression) in the wall from pieces of plaster and dust;
well moisten the inside of the hole, using a brush or wet foam rubber, and let the water soak in;
the next step depends on the depth of damage to the wall:
a). if its depth does not exceed 5 cm, just use a spatula to close the hole with plaster or other repair mortar and let it dry; during the drying process, the gypsum (solution) may crack, these cracks, again, must be carefully repaired;
b). if the depth of the damage is greater, we recommend that you put a piece of brick or a piece of stone, selected according to the size of the hole, into it, planting this "patch" on cement; after which, with plaster or another solution, we eliminate the wall defect and let it dry;
using a large spatula, apply the finishing plaster (or its replacement) to the repaired place and carefully level the surface, while capturing undamaged sections of the wall;
after waiting for this layer to dry completely, we clean it with sandpaper;
we paint or paste over the place of repair.

How to repair a hole in a plasterboard wall?

With such walls, problems arise more often. It is difficult to seriously damage a concrete or brick wall. In contrast to these materials, the now widespread drywall is quite fragile and therefore is often damaged as a result of the carelessness of the owners. This usually happens with the next rearrangement of furniture or during children's games. However, even such a wall can be repaired if a hole appears in it.

First of all, you should take care of the availability of the following tools and materials: a hacksaw with a narrow blade, a pencil and a square, two spatulas, putty, reinforcing mesh, sandpaper, a rectangular wooden plank, a piece of drywall and self-tapping screws.

The procedure for removing a hole in a drywall wall:

Using a square, draw a rectangle with a pencil around the repair site;
cut out the damaged part of the drywall on the wall with a hacksaw along the contour of this rectangle;

Adjust the width of the wooden plank so that it is slightly narrower, but longer than the hole in the drywall;
screw a powerful screw into the center of the board as a handle;
holding the board by the screw, insert it into the hole prepared in the wall and press it against the back surface of the drywall; in this position, it must be secured with four self-tapping screws; remove the screw handle;
cut a rectangle out of a piece of drywall that matches the shape of the hole;
insert a drywall rectangle into the hole;

Attach it to the board with self-tapping screws, sinking their caps into drywall;
putty the edges of the resulting patch and the remaining irregularities;
put a reinforcing mesh on top and rub it into the putty;
after drying, sand;
apply a clean layer of putty on top;
after its final drying, carefully sand the surface with fine sandpaper.

Instead of a plank, you can use a bar or the remains of a profile. The main thing is to create a support for the drywall patch.

We wish you a successful repair!
