Eastern (Chinese) calendar of zodiac signs.

The Eastern calendar, which has been in effect for several thousand years in Vietnam, Kampuchea, China, Korea, Mongolia, Japan and some other Asian countries, was compiled during the time of the semi-legendary Emperor Huang Di in the middle of the third millennium BC. The Eastern calendar is a 60-year cyclical system. It is based on the astronomical cycles of the Sun, Earth, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn. The 60-year cycle includes the 12-year Jupiter and 30-year Saturn cycles. The 12-year period of Jupiter was considered the most important for the life of nomads, and in those days the main peoples of the East were nomadic tribes. The ancient Chinese and Japanese believed that the normal motion of Jupiter brought benefits and virtues.
By dividing the path of Jupiter into twelve equal parts and giving each part the name of a specific animal, the peoples of Asia created a solar-Jupiter 12-year calendar cycle. Legend has it that all the animals were invited by Buddha to celebrate the first New Year. Buddha promised to give the animals a whole year, which would be named after them. Only 12 animals came to Buddha's invitation - a rat, a bull, a tiger, a rabbit, a dragon, a snake, a horse, a sheep, a monkey, a rooster, and a dog. The last one to come to meet Buddha was the pig.
According to another legend, Buddha called animals before leaving the earth. A rat, a bull, a tiger, a rabbit, a dragon, a snake, a horse, a sheep, a monkey, a rooster, a dog and a pig came to say goodbye to Buddha. The grateful Buddha gave these 12 animals one year of reign each.

The eastern calendar begins with the year of the rat and ends with the year of the pig. In the East, it is widely believed that these animals have the ability to impart certain traits to the one born in this year of the animal, both good and bad.
In sixty years, Jupiter makes five revolutions. This number corresponded to the worldview of Chinese natural philosophy. The number five was a symbol of the five elements of nature - wood, fire, metal (gold), water, earth, which correspond to color designations (blue, red, yellow, white, black).
The Chinese sexagenary was formed as a result of the combination of the duodecimal cycle (“earthly branches”), each year of which was assigned the name of an animal, and the decimal cycle of the “elements” (“heavenly branches”): five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) , each of which corresponded to two cyclic signs, personifying the masculine and feminine principles (therefore, in the Chinese calendar there are consecutive years corresponding to different animals, but one element).

12 animals, 5 elements - hence the cycle of the eastern calendar is 60 years. This cycle begins with the year of the Wood Rat and ends with the year of the Water Pig. The next 60-year cycle of the eastern calendar began on February 2, 1984. Animal years repeat once every 12 years, and elements repeat every 10 years.
The choice of these planets when creating the eastern calendar is explained by the fact that the Sun influences the development of the human spirit, the Moon influences the physical development of the body, Jupiter controls the behavior of people in public life, and the planet Saturn shapes the individual characteristics of a person.

Recently, the eastern calendar has become increasingly popular in Russia. The Eastern New Year does not have a fixed date. The New Year according to the eastern calendar begins on the first new moon, which occurs in the zodiac sign Aquarius. The Sun enters the sign of Aquarius on January 20 or 21 and ends on February 18. Therefore, the New Year according to the eastern calendar begins from January 20 to February 18, at which time one fabulous animal passes the reins to another.

In Eastern countries, it is very common in which years are combined into twelve-year cycles, just as in the Western horoscope the year is divided into twelve zodiac constellations. Every year in the eastern calendar is named after an animal. People born this year are assigned the qualities inherent in this animal, according to life observations and Eastern mythology.
Every twelve years the cycle repeats and the animal returns, but it is not exactly the same animal, because in the full circle of the eastern horoscope there are five different Rats, Bulls, Tigers, etc. The animal remains, but it changes.

Elements of the signs of the eastern calendar.

The eastern calendar assumes the presence of certain colors corresponding to each element. The elements change in the following order: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Thus, the cycle repeats itself completely after 60 years.
You can determine your element by the last digit of your year of birth:

“4” or “5” - Wood (color green, blue)
“6” or “7” - Fire (color red, pink)
“8” or “9” - Earth (color yellow, lemon, ocher)
“0” or “1” - Metal (white)
“2” or “3” - Water (color black, blue)

Each of the elements slightly changes the animal representing the year, giving it a unique shade. For example, the Fire Goat - active, active, with creative abilities, differs from the Earth Goat - a reserved, dry realist, busy with earthly, practical matters.
You can use the eastern horoscope to improve mutual understanding with your family, loved ones and friends by identifying their signs and elements, and therefore understanding the deep essence and motives of actions. Animal signs will help determine the prospects of relationships between people (friendships, love or business).
It’s better to start with the general characteristics of the animal sign.
Even more accurate data can be obtained by determining the animal sign of the hour of birth. According to Chinese astrology, the day is divided into 12 periods, each of which corresponds to a specific animal sign. This means that a person born in the hour of any animal will have the traits of this sign. Here are the correspondences between birth times and animal signs:

23.00 - 01.00 - Rat time
01.00 - 03.00 - Ox time
03.00 - 05.00 - Tiger time
05.00 - 07.00 - Rabbit time
07.00 - 09.00 - Dragon time
09.00 - 11.00 - Snake time
11.00 - 13.00 - Horse time
13.00 - 15.00 - Sheep time
15.00 - 17.00 - Monkey time
17.00 - 19.00 - Rooster time
19.00 - 21.00 - Dog time
21.00 - 23.00 - Boar time

Eastern calendar signs.

Chinese astrologers divide all animal signs into four groups (three in each). It is generally accepted that people born under the same group of signs have similar characteristics that determine the way they think, which ultimately allows them to get along well with each other, support each other and get along together. This does not mean at all that they have the same character or actions, it’s just that the innate characteristics of their personalities successfully complement each other and contribute to revealing the best sides of other people from the same group. It has been noticed that partnerships, friendships and especially marriages between those born under the signs of the same group are the most successful.

Competitors- , And . All these signs are very keen on competition and decisive action. Rats need the Dragon's self-confidence and courage, because... extremely unsure of themselves. In turn, the Dragon can be too direct and sometimes simply needs the ingenuity of the Rat or even the cunning of the Monkey. The latter highly value the intelligence of the Rat and the enthusiasm of the Dragon.
Intellectuals- , And . People belonging to these signs are great pragmatists, strong personalities, often endowed with great abilities, self-confident, purposeful and decisive. Among them are thinkers and seers. The Ox is constant and firm, but he is favorably influenced by the brightness of the Rooster and the charm and dexterity of the Snake. The directness of the Rooster is balanced by the diplomatic Snake or the self-confident Bull, and the Snake, with all its ambition, can reach great heights if it is assisted by the Bull or the Rooster.
Independent- , And . These people are emotional, impulsive, restless and extremely principled - a kind of "free spirits" of the Chinese zodiac. The Horse is a born strategist, but to make anything a reality it needs a decisive Dog or an impulsive Tiger. He can also give vent to the Horse’s restlessness, while only the Dog can calm it down. The Tiger will also benefit from communicating with the Dog - her constant good nature will keep him from being excessively cruel.
Diplomats- (Cat), and . People of these signs are reserved, simple-minded, not great intellectuals, and are not attracted to risk. But they are modest and responsive, sociable and sensitive, tenderly care for each other and are always happy to do something nice. The Rabbit's insight balances the Sheep's generosity, and the latter needs the sense of priorities that the Rabbit gives her. The power of the Pig complements the forgiving nature of the Sheep and the strategic thinking of the Rabbit.

The signs of the eastern calendar are often depicted in a circle in a certain order, sometimes compass directions are marked on it. Looking at such a circle, it is not difficult to notice that each sign is directly opposite the other sign. These are antagonistic signs, and they are considered completely incompatible! There are six such pairs, and within each pair an astrological conflict invariably develops. The causes of these conflicts lie deep in the nature of people born under opposite signs; they are involuntary and manifest themselves mainly in how they react to the surrounding reality and other people. These are the pairs:

The validity of these observations is also confirmed by the fact that in China, parents, as a rule, do not approve of children marrying people 6 years older or younger. They are well aware that in such a union conflicts and insoluble problems will certainly arise, and therefore in love it is very dangerous to ignore this incompatibility. Another thing is friendship, which in most cases is not harmed by astrological conflicts, because friends usually don't live together. In business, however, incompatibility can also be a hindrance, because in this case completely different people are forced to spend a large amount of time side by side every day.
Do not despair if the results of the analysis of relationships according to the eastern horoscope are disappointing; pay attention to the signs and elements corresponding to the month and hour of birth, because under their influence, the characteristic features of a person’s personality can both weaken and strengthen.
In China they say that if the fate destined for a person from above cannot be changed, then his lot can be improved. They believe in the unity of "tian", "ti" and "zhen" (heaven, earth and man), meaning that the two components of a happy fate - earthly luck and human (the third is heavenly luck) - are in the hands of the person himself.

Indeed, the ability to properly build relationships with your immediate environment guarantees you success, financial well-being, career, and family harmony. This is often more important than choosing the right behavior.

A person born in a certain year receives a number of innate properties, depending on which his fate is formed. The popularity of this calendar in the East is very great. Contrary to popular belief, the eastern horoscope does not contradict the western one, but, on the contrary, complements it. Therefore, it is important to know both of these horoscopes in order to have a better understanding of yourself, your abilities and potential, as well as the character and abilities of your baby.

There are also 12 signs of the Chinese horoscope, however, unlike the Western one, they replace each other not by months, but by years. In particular:

Rat

This is a pragmatist who carefully plans his every step and at the same time always leaves room for maneuver. Rats are visible in any company for their brightness and good sense of humor, but they themselves do not strive for popularity, trying to stay away from the “herd feeling”, to which they are simply allergic. Rats love to work and earn money because it brings them a sense of stability and self-importance.

In relationships, rats are not very constant; they rarely become attached to a person, much more often to a house. Therefore, the surest way to keep a rat is to create a quiet haven in which peace and stability will reign; a rat will never leave such a house. You shouldn’t expect crazy passion from this sign, but if the relationship with your partner has developed such components as friendship and mutual respect, the rat will definitely complement them with tender, reverent romance.

Bull

The stubbornness of the bull is well known - it goes towards its goal, sweeping away all visible and invisible obstacles along the way. This is the strongest, strongest and most purposeful sign, down to earth, seeing its goal in achieving something, making money, standing firmly on its feet. He is very responsible and can be an excellent manager, strict but fair. By the way, the bull’s sense of justice is incredibly developed - he instantly rushes to the defense of the weak and offended, making their enemies his own, and you won’t envy the bull’s enemies - he scatters them like feathers.

In relationships, the bull is a very faithful monogamist. He is very passionate and devoted to his partner to the core, demanding the same in return. Treason or betrayal can greatly cripple a bull, suspicion can make him a tough and powerful tyrant, demanding obedience in everything. At the same time, a gentle and loving partner will help the bull become softer, more open to the world, teach him to relax and enjoy life.

Tiger

This is a very bright, ambitious and passionate sign. He is purposeful, tirelessly pursues his goal, “igniting” others along the way. By the way, the tiger always influences those around him, conquering them with his aggression and charm. Alas, many of his projects remain unfinished, because... he is an addicted person. Image for a tiger is everything and he will try very hard not to “tarnish” it, which, by the way, is not so easy, because the tiger is capable of rash acts and does them quite often. At work, if he truly loves his job, the tiger is ready to sacrifice even his own interests for his success. He is the ideal manager who will build an effective team and force everyone to obey him unquestioningly.

In a relationship, the tiger always needs thrills and novelty. Unfortunately, he is prone to infidelity and short-term affairs on the side, which he does not really consider to be infidelity - just a fleeting adventure. Therefore, the tiger’s partner will have to try to maintain the fire of passion in him all the time.

Cat/rabbit

This is a very lucky sign that always lands on its feet. This applies to everything: work, financial affairs, and even risky projects. Although the rabbit does not like risk, so it will not be exposed to it again. This is a great esthete with good taste who loves everyone's adoration and admiration. Actually, everything he does has the ultimate goal of being praised, admired, and set as an example. The rabbit looks soft and pliable, but don't let that fool you. If desired, his pressure will be such that even a tiger or a bull cannot withstand it. The Rabbit always sympathizes with others and is ready to help, but usually this desire is caused primarily by its sociality and social activity. The rabbit is very upset by his own failures and hopeless situations; he may even fall into melancholy or depression. However, he calms down quite quickly and eventually finds a way out.

In a relationship, the rabbit gives himself entirely, often sacrificing his own interests for the sake of love, and expects the same from his partner. To create an ideal family, a rabbit needs a gentle and trusting environment in the house, as well as many children whom he loves very much.

The Dragon

This is a truly unusual sign in the Chinese horoscope. This is an amazing, bright personality, integral, purposeful and moderately ambitious. The dragon subtly feels other people, their problems, and is always ready to help. He can communicate with everyone on an equal basis, which attracts others to him and makes him desirable for any company. He is very strong, but does not like to demonstrate his strength, only if he himself or those close to him need protection. In business, the dragon always achieves the goal with the least sacrifices; he is an excellent worker and easily finds a way out of even the most difficult situations. The dragon, although not boastful, can always show off his abilities in time, so in any team he finds himself in the center of attention. He willingly shares with others everything that he has, and fate always rewards him for such generosity with high status and good income.

In relationships, the dragon is not too passionate, but he loves reverently and deeply, easily gets close to people and quickly falls in love, which often pushes away potential partners.

Snake

This is perhaps the wisest, prudent, but at the same time lazy sign. The snake is able to find a way out even from tightly walled walls, is capable of convincing, “reads” people well, achieves its goal by waiting for a long time, and at the right moment grabs the prey tightly, never missing. He is very cautious and will never act knowing that he is taking even the slightest risk. If a snake sees real danger, it prefers to move out of the way and wait beyond the opportune moment. The snake is always in the center of attention, it has many fans and acquaintances, but this person does not allow anyone deep into his world, being an egoist and an individualist. People can be frightened by the coldness and sometimes even the greed of a snake, but it feels quite comfortable alone, it doesn’t really need anyone. The snake could achieve unprecedented heights, but often it is too selfish to rise above a certain level, which it considers “sufficient” for itself.

In a relationship, a snake can simply bewitch a partner, subjugating his will entirely. She needs someone who will surround her with care and love, and she can lazily live on his shoulder. The snake lets everyone else out of his life without a drop of regret.

Horse

The horse is bright, fickle and free, it does not tolerate rules and restrictions, it loves to earn money and be creative, it cannot be tamed, it can only be admired. This sign combines, as it were, 3 hypostases: a horse can work (and even a bull will envy its efficiency), can shine at balls and social events, and can rush around a green meadow. But you cannot restrain it, just as you cannot predict what it will be like in the next moment. The horse is very impulsive; it can say harsh words, for which it will later repent. This is probably why the horse does not have many friends - only those who know its violent temperament and accept it for who it is. The horse loves and knows how to live beautifully, she loves expensive things, jewelry, and travel. But she also knows how to earn money, all her expenses are strictly coordinated with her income, you cannot blame her for squandering.

In love, as in everything else, the horse is very selfish, even self-centered. Therefore, her ideal partner should be very calm and patient, having a philosophical attitude towards all the horse’s antics.

Goat

This sign always shines in society and receives compliments - both of which are very important for the goat. She can be noticed immediately by her elegance, smartness and good manners. Everyone should admire her and give her compliments, she does not look for difficult paths, does not strive to take initiative, to be a boss (if she is provided with a good job), she does not like problems and often does not know how to solve them. The material in her nature often prevails over the spiritual, so in her personal life the goat needs a wealthy partner. A goat can surprise close people with its fickle nature - sometimes it is gentle and affectionate, sometimes it kicks and butts. In general, the main thing for a goat is its complete and absolute comfort here and now; change and risk are not for it, as well as excessive freedom.

In a relationship, a goat needs someone who will lead her on a leash, but on a loose one, so that she can sometimes run around and frolic to her heart's content. The partner must surround her with love, care and comfort, otherwise the offended goat will throw tantrums or even feign illness.

Monkey

This incredibly charming sign will not leave anyone indifferent to its charm and gift of persuasion. Monkeys often become wonderful “gray eminences”, allowing others to think that they are in control of the situation, but at the same time it is the monkey who is in charge of all processes. They keep secrets well and others often trust them, even if they are strangers. Monkeys are always easy-going, but if they don’t succeed in something, they can give it up, forcing their team to “clean up” after themselves. At the same time, the monkey can be so devoted to work that he often sacrifices his interests, becomes dependent on his superiors and can be exploited.

Monkeys are always light, festive, but a little frivolous and superficial. This also shows up in relationships. The monkey's partner should not burden it with problems once again and should have a sense of humor, since monkeys do not tolerate dullness and monotony.

Among the many different astrological traditions, the Chinese lunar calendar and the horoscope built on its basis stand out for their simplicity and originality.

The 12 animals of the Chinese 12-year cycle are known to most of the inhabitants of our planet, and more than a quarter of earthlings celebrate the New Year according to the Eastern calendar, praising its next symbol every year. Undoubtedly, the Chinese horoscope is one of the most popular in the world.

Elements in the Chinese horoscope

The Chinese horoscope includes two theories of the elements that govern all living things in the world.

The first theory: about three world principles. Ian- active, masculine, transformative, bringing novelty and sudden changes; the opposite of it yin - perceiving, feminine, giving out the final result of the initiatives taken by yang. When these two principles actively interact, a third, purely esoteric principle arises - Dan, which symbolizes intellect, denial of the material, priority of the spiritual, flight of fancy, as well as social law and order. Dan is the asexual principle. In accordance with this classification, people can be divided into three camps, in which there will be typical representatives of each of the great principles.

In addition to the theory of the three principles, Chinese astrology develops a system of knowledge about the five world elements, or elements. An element in Chinese astrology expresses the essence of an astrological object, both in statics (its birth) and in dynamics (its subsequent fate).

Hour of birth

In the Chinese horoscope, the day is divided into 12 “hours”, each with two astronomical hours, and these large “hours” symbolically correspond to the signs of the 12-year lunar calendar. The first half of the Chinese hour tends in its characteristics to the previous sign, and the second - to the subsequent one.

The daily cycle in the Chinese horoscope (and other countries of the Far East) begins with the hour of the Rat (23:00 - 01:00). Local time is always used; there is no reference to Greenwich or any other reference time reference.

The most striking manifestation of the qualities of the hour of birth will occur if the symbol of the hour of birth coincides with the symbol of the year. For example, a person born in the year and hour of the Horse will display the maximum qualities prescribed for this sign.

Planets in the Chinese horoscope

The Chinese lunar calendar is focused on the 12-year cycle of Jupiter's revolution around the Sun, the 30-year cycle of Saturn and their interaction. In addition to animal symbols, each year in Chinese astrology has its own ruling planet. She is appointed according to an ancient rule - the so-called “star of magicians”.

The Eastern zodiac is represented by twelve zodiac signs, each of which belongs to a specific animal. According to the most popular legend, only these dozen brave men were able to cross the cold wide river to appear before the Buddha. Buddha called all the animals to him, but they only got there. Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. Each animal received a gift of a year, in accordance with the cycle of Jupiter's revolution.

In accordance with the lunar calendar, which is based on the east, the year begins not on January 1, but on the first new moon after January 21. Thus, the beginning of the new year according to the eastern calendar is celebrated from January 21 to February 20. Those born during this period need to calculate their year especially carefully.

The eastern horoscope consists of 12 zodiac signs and 5 elements - Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood. They make up a 60-year calendar cycle, which always opens the year of the Rat of the wood element and closes the year of the Pig of the water element. The current 60-year cycle began in 1984, Rats of the wood element, and will end in 2044, Pig of the water element.

The combination of an animal and an element does not determine a standard set of character traits for a person born in a certain year. The Eastern horoscope, unlike the Western one, determines a person’s capabilities, while the Western one describes his intentions and goals. Thus, the eastern horoscope helps to understand the orientation of each person’s spiritual needs, style of expression and ways of interacting with others and the world as a whole.

The principles of yin and yang

In addition to the elements, each animal of the eastern zodiac expresses the masculine principle Ian or feminine principle Yin. The Yang principle personifies the masculine, active principle, the desire for creative development and exploration of new opportunities. The Yin principle personifies the feminine, passive principle, the ability to accept and preserve, select the most valuable and create a tradition. The yang years include odd numbers - Rat, Tiger, Dragon, Horse, Monkey, Dog. Yin years include even ones - Ox, Rabbit, Snake (yin/yang), Goat (Sheep), Rooster, Pig.

Compatibility of Eastern zodiac signs

Between themselves, the animal signs of the eastern zodiac form four triplets related compatibility. From a psychological point of view, this compatibility corresponds to the four types of temperament.

1. Rat, Dragon and Monkey are open signs

2. Ox, Snake and Rooster are closed signs

3. Tiger, Horse and Dog are strong-willed signs

4. Rabbit, Goat (Sheep) and Pig (Boar) are creative signs.

Animals of the zodiac belonging to the same trinity interact well with each other at all levels of life - from friendship and love to partnership and career.
