How to make a panel of autumn leaves with your own hands. Crafts from leaves: new photo ideas, tips, instructions

I'm here again today. This is an applique of leaves on the theme “Portrait of Autumn”. On the way from school, Sashulka collected a lot of different leaves and we decided to put them to use right away. Inspired by ideas found on the Internet, we got down to business. As a result, we have a charming autumn girl made of leaves.

For the craft we needed: glue stick, colored gel pens, a portrait printed on a printer (you can draw it yourself), various leaves that fit the shape, cardboard on which the portrait will be glued.

  1. Find a picture of a girl or draw her yourself. You can use our girl template.

2. Now you should color the girl’s eyes and lips in the picture. We did this at the very end and it was very awkward to paint. We were afraid of crushing the leaves or peeling them off completely.

3. The next step is to select suitable leaves and apply them to the portrait. We arrange them the way they will look best.

4. And we begin the process of creating a hairstyle for our portrait. In the process, the child learns to feel and choose the appropriate shape of a leaf so that the picture looks more natural. Learns to create a harmonious picture.

5. Glue the last leaves onto the hairstyle. And we admire the created beauty. You can decorate a girl’s hairstyle with viburnum berries or the last autumn flowers, or you can make rowan beads. But we decided to leave the portrait like this.

Portrait without flash.

And a brightened portrait.

And here with makeup. 🙂

This is the hand-made autumn portrait we got from leaves. We spent about 30 minutes making it. And then most of I went looking for a portrait on the Internet. 🙂

Our other autumn ones can be viewed at the link:

I will be glad if our idea is useful to you for joint creativity with the kids. If you liked the article, save it to your bookmarks. I look forward to your comments.

An autumn girl was walking, teasing with her outfit,
Warming in the velvet light.
And with that girl, having met the gaze,
We suddenly forget about summer...

Svetlana Efimova 2

D Good afternoon, my dear friends!

Today, I share with you my new experience in needlework. It will be a picture of autumn leaves, I wanted to call it: girl - autumn. Actually, I didn't plan to do this job. But, at work, there was an annual crafts competition, from autumn materials. The manager asked me to make some kind of craft from natural materials. As a boss, would you refuse a request? And I wasn’t going to refuse this request, it’s handicraft! And I really like handicrafts. This is what I ended up with.

Painting of autumn leaves: girl – autumn.

For work I took:

  • Fibreboard – 50 x 40 cm;
  • Natural materials - ears of wheat, a bunch of autumn leaves, twigs, acorns, rowan berries, flowers, grass, millet;
  • PVA glue;
  • Acrylic matte varnish;
  • Acrylic paints - gold, bronze and white;
  • Watercolor paint – yellow.

As a basis for the picture, I took a piece of fiberboard measuring 40 x 50 cm. Front side for the picture, I chose the wrong side of the fiberboard, i.e. not smooth))) There was a scratch right in the middle, but it doesn’t matter, I’ll decorate it.

I decided to decorate the picture frame using the terra technique. For this, I needed a mixture into which I would press ears of wheat and millet. Usually putty is used for this, and I was sure that I had it. But during the whole break, I didn’t find it, it turned out that it was over, but I didn’t want to go to the store... But I had dry glue for tiles and I decided to experiment. Let the glue be the basis of the mixture. I needed to get a medium-thick mass into which wheat and millet could be pressed. In this case, the mixture should eventually harden and stick firmly to the frame. And I did this, mixed: tile glue (6 parts) + flour (3 parts) + PVA glue. I actually used PVA instead of water. That is, as soon as the mass became the consistency I needed, I stopped adding it.

Frame mix

First, I generously coated the canvas with PVA glue along the entire perimeter, in the place of the future frame. After letting the PVA dry a little, I began to apply the experimental mass, in a layer of about 1 cm, in advance.

Applied the base for the frame

And she immediately began to press ears of wheat into this mass, and then sprinkled it generously with millet. She pressed everything in, so that the wheat and millet were pressed in, but at the same time were clearly visible.

Pressed wheat and millet

Pressed wheat and millet

Then, she put the picture on its edge and shook off the excess millet.

After about 30 minutes, I mixed PVA glue and acrylic varnish in equal proportions and covered the wheat and millet with this composition. When you apply this composition, it white, but becomes transparent after drying.

Covered with a mixture of PVA glue and acrylic varnish

When the mixture of glue and varnish had dried, I painted the frame liberally with gold paint. I painted with a wide brush. And after drying, I went over the ears of wheat with bronze paint.

Now, finally, the picture itself of autumn leaves. I want to say right away: I am not friendly with drawing, and especially with painting with paints! I painted it as I thought.))) I poured white acrylic paint into a separate container and diluted it lightly with water, so the paint would be applied more evenly. Then, I painted the surface of the fiberboard (without touching the frame). Thus, I prepared the canvas by lightly priming it. By the way, in the end, it looked like the painting was made on canvas. When White paint dried, I began to apply the background of the picture. I made all the strokes smooth, semicircular or something (I don’t know what artists call it). In the middle, closer to the top, I painted it with white paint again. Then she began to darken the background, bringing it closer to the edges. To do this, in a container with white acrylic paint, gradually, began to add gold. The further to the edges, the more gold I added, making the tone darker.

Painted the fiberboard while making the background

Looking at the result, I wanted to add yellow tone. I didn’t have yellow acrylic paint, so I took watercolor paints. Mixing white and yellow watercolor paints, I walked right behind the edge white background. That's it, I put the painting aside until the paints were completely dry.

For this work, I collected a few different autumn leaves, thin birch branches, and grass. Also, twigs with rowan berries, acorns, flowers from narwhal flower beds (luckily they weren’t fined))). But my husband found the highlight for me. While helping to collect acorns, I found a sleeping dragonfly (it’s good that it was no longer alive).

I placed the leaves and flower petals between the pages of the books, so they stayed with me for about two days. I had them in my work, only slightly dried out.

But first, I drew a silhouette of a girl on paper (I found it on the internet) and applied it to the picture to determine the size.

I drew a silhouette of a girl

Then she cut off the skirt and painted the girl with gold paint. It could have been acrylic, but I had aerosol gold paint))). From the waist, I cut off a small pointed piece, these will be eyelashes.

Painted the “girl” with gold paint

Then, she glued the girl to the place that she had decided on in advance. I didn’t take pictures of my further steps, because... I'll tell you in words.

She formed a wreath for the girl from grass, leaves and twigs with rowan berries. Everything was glued using a mixture of PVA glue and acrylic varnish (in proportions 1/1). In the future I used this composition. Let me explain why I used exactly this composition. Before I started making the painting, I scoured the Internet in search of how to preserve the color of autumn leaves. And I found information that the color and elasticity of autumn leaves can be preserved, including with the help of this composition. Other options did not suit me (I won’t write about them).

I continue. The skirt was made from leaves. I glued it in rows, starting from the hem, going higher.

The bodice of the dress was made from flower petals.

Since, initially, there was a scratch on the fiberboard, I glued a twig with leaves in its place. And she glued the dragonfly, spreading its wings. I really liked this dragonfly.

I made a girl, glued a dragonfly and a twig

On both sides of the girl, I glued twigs and leaves, trying to imitate trees. I started gluing from the top level, then, going lower, I glued the next branches and leaves.

And in the lower left corner I glued panicles, small twigs of flowers and a few acorns.

And further! While examining the work, I discovered that there were unpainted areas on the frame. Therefore, I once again went over the frame with gold paint.

Glued grass and acorns

Then, I went over all the leaves, twigs and flowers again with a mixture of glue and varnish.

That's all. My painting of autumn leaves is ready. Of course, this is most likely not a painting, but a panel... But let it be a painting, I want it so bad)))

Publications on the topic:

On the eve of Cosmonautics Day, we decided to make a collective application with children using several techniques of fine art at once.

My children and I really love doing group work - it’s special atmosphere when joint efforts result in joint work. Creation.

Collective and individual work on the theme "Spring" in the preparatory group. To shape the development of children to work creatively in a team.

Good afternoon - today we continue the topic autumn crafts– I have already shown several ideas for autumn applications in our article. We also dwelt in detail on what framed masterpieces can be created from dried flowers in the article. We also made different heroes and animals from pumpkins

And today we will make applications from autumn leaves different ways. In this article I collected several at once interesting techniques . If you are a teacher in kindergarten, teacher primary classes at school or the head of a creative circle - then here you are waiting a whole piggy bank best ideas for autumn leaf applications.

Let me first show you applique techniques... and then we will look at individual topics

TECHNOLOGY No. 1

MOSAIC applique of leaves.

The first technique (my favorite) that I want to show you is that autumn leaves are used as puzzles in one whole mosaic. By arranging them in a certain order we can get an image, for example, of a crab (photo below).

Moreover, if you look closely at the photo below, you will notice that the leaves on this mosaic canvas cut with scissors to give them the desired shape.

The only difficulty in creating such a crab applique is that (as you noticed) - it is SYMMETRICAL - the same on the left and on the right. This requires that your hardwood material contains identical pairs of leaves– and for this you need to tinker with the selection of material. As with the butterfly applique in the photo below.

But what a miracle can be made from autumn leaves and dry fern stems. Take a closer look - there is also zone of symmetrical leaf laying - in the abdomen area seahorse. The remaining leaves are laid out according to the laws of harmony and proportion.

Not only autumn leaves can be used to create mosaic applications. Here in the photo below we see an example mosaic applique of a skull made of dried wild and garden flowers.

And here is an autumn picture - which gives us the idea of creating beautiful silhouette paintings laid out in foliage mosaics.

I really hope you come up with create your own themes for creating autumn applications using mosaic technique. Be sure to send me a photo – I’d really like to see the results of your creative thought.

Now let's move on to the next technique.

TECHNOLOGY No. 2

BULK APPLICATION from leaves.

Autumn applique can be made from crushed autumn leaves himself different color. From red autumn leaves we will get red sprinkles, from yellow leaves– yellow. Also you can add dry black tea, green tea, sage leaves, etc..

Here are examples of appliqué paintings made using this technique.

TECHNOLOGY No. 3

Applique painting with GRAPHICS.

And here's the most children's favorite technology autumn applique. When a sheet is placed on a sheet of white paper... and then the child uses a pencil to think up and complete the artistic plot (settings, props).

When you come up with a good artistic idea, a pencil sketch can be secure with black ink or black felt-tip pen.

Children love to add funny little animals with bulging eyes to the leaves... You can print a lot from the Internet in advance such simple animal graphics... Let the children first apply the leaves to the drawn animals... and then, by analogy (with this experience of analysis and comparison), create their own funny characters for children's autumn applique.

In addition to simple pencil graphics - using the same technique, you can use gouache or watercolor - and in any technique available to you. For example, children can from your handprint make a bird... complete the twigs... and stick real dry autumn leaves on the branches.

TECHNOLOGY No. 4

DRAWING on leaves with gouache and oil.

Here's another amazing one beautiful technique working with autumn leaves. On well-dried dense leaves you can apply patterns - dotted, striped, dotted.

Then stick them on cardboard - placing in a circle from the center - radially, like rays in different directions. After the solar display of leaves is ready, you need draw with a pencil the contours of this leafy sun(external and internal) - and then cut them out with scissors.

With the help of paints you can draw faces and eyes on the autumn leaves– you’ll get such a cute little crab.

They can be glued to a piece of paper against the background of painted grass(and they will look like insects)… you can stick them on on a blue background with seaweed(and they will pass for strange fish).

Can autumn turn the sheet into any character... with the help of paints - we draw cat eyes and nose, Using scissors, we trim the edge of the sheet so that we get ears - and here we have CATS.

By the same principle you can turn a dry leaf into a cartoon Minion, SpongeBob... or another character. Can be manifested your personal fantasy and a craving for an artistic EXPERIMENT... we have a lot of leaves... if it doesn’t work out, take a new leaf and move on. Practice... look for images... draw faces and eyes.

And here are the pictures Autumn leaves can be drawn if you have artistic skills. Neat brush strokes... imitating feathers... a small beak... and beady eyes.

Here in the photo below is the name of the artist who creates such masterpieces of paintings on autumn leaves.

Really cool! Is it true?

All these ideas really inspire me.

I just want to do something similar - but OWN, unique.

TECHNOLOGY No. 5

Application of leaves ON CARDBOARD.

In children's creativity circles applications made from autumn natural material ON A CARDBOARD BASE are one of the most popular themes. And it's really convenient - cardboard is a fairly dense material to hold thick layers of leaves, twigs, and large seeds glued on you.

The most popular theme of such applications made of leaves and cardboard is, of course, hedgehogs.

And also owls. We draw the outlines of an owl on the cardboard... paste it with leaves - starting from the bottom row of leaves, and moving upwards, overlapping. You can fill the entire owl with leafy mass, or you can leave the paws and head without leaves, just cover these areas with gouache.

Or you can make owl appliqués - like in the photo below. Here cut out a regular circle from cardboard... glue it leaves-wings... we make two eyes and a beak from cardboard... ears and paws from pieces of sharp leaves. And then when the owl is ready glue a regular clothespin onto the back of the cardboard(with glue or tape) ... and we sit and pin our owls on a tree branch.

Here is another way to make an applique using cardboard. First, we apply the design to the cardboard - then we transfer this design to the back of the cardboard. Covering up the whole pattern is with leaves of different colors. And we cut out the squirrel along the contour - just like in the photo below.

TOPICS and STORIES for autumn applications

(animals, birds, insects, people)

It can be funny people... Princesses in flower dresses... forest fairies dancing in the clearing in leaves-dresses and hats-flowers.

Or dry leaves can be laid in the most similar to the real proportions of the human body. To be as similar as possible to a painting in the style of realism. In the photo below we see a beautiful applique of a girl made from dry leaves.

You can immediately cut out a blank from cardboard for an autumn applique - a model of a girl or a princess - and invite the children to come up with the design of her clothes from dry and fresh leaves and flowers.

Can be done beautiful applique-PORTRAIT from dried flowers, dried herb stems, and leaves...

Possible in cut out a FEMALE PROFILE from cardboard... place it on a sheet of paper - and come up with a HAIRSTYLE for this face from dried flowers and leaves.

But this is a craft that is interesting to girls.

But for boys can be printed on a printer proud profile of an Indian- and the leaves will replace the feathers on the Indian headdress of the red-skinned leader.

If you are already an adult artist, then you can lay out picturesque pictures from leaves heads of ethnic portraits. In the photo below we see similar works - where the picture is created from a mosaic of BUTTERFLY WINGS (it’s scary to imagine how many butterflies were destroyed for the sake of such beauty). So I FOR that, to make a work of art from more humane plant materials.

Here are more examples of paintings made from dry leaves and flowers in ethnic themes. African... and Chinese.

Applications from leaves in the form of ANIMALS

Animal applique from dry leaves is most popular in children's creativity. You will receive such autumn applications as a school homework ... you and your child will climb through parks and courtyards in search of high-quality, clean and beautiful leaves.

Here are a few options for how to arrange different leaves into an applique image of an animal or bird...

But he's cute oak leaf hedgehog and one poplar leaf. The chestnut acts as an eye.

Here's another way to do it mouse applique from poplar or linden leaves.

And next to the mouse you can plant such a hungry cat with eyes of violet petals... from large chestnut leaves (for the body and paws)... rowan leaves or bushes (for the tail).

Here's an example turtle and elephant made of autumn leaves, pasted in the form of an applique. Elephant tusks can be cut out of white paper.

BIRDS APPLICATIONS from autumn leaves.

Here are the options for the most different birdsbird silhouettes can be found on the Internet... print out their images - and then try to select the leaves of the desired shapes to get the intended bird figurine for your autumn applique.

Most often, of course, they are made from dry leaves. peacock appliques with a bushy tail.

Moreover, a peacock’s tail can consist of ONE SINGLE maple leaf...

Or the tail can consist of a lush bouquet of autumn leaves laid out in the form of a fan... You can make several TIERS of this fan-shaped arrangement of leaves at once - each row of its own color - a row of yellow feather leaves... a row of red feather leaves, etc.

You can make small hummingbirds and sparrows...

...or large turkeys.

And here chicken and rooster applique from dry autumn leaves. You see how each leaf is placed for a reason. Each leaf is a SCULPTURE part of the bird's plumage. Giving the feathers the desired relief, so that we capture not only the flat silhouette of the chicken... but also its textured bulges.

Autumn applications in the form of FISH...

The youngest children love to make the most out of leaves. simple shapes. And this is of course made from fish. What could be simpler... the body of the fish already has the shape of a leaf... the tail and fins also have shapes common in the plant world.

But this fish silhouette has already been made more complex...

Autumn applications in the form of INSECTS...

And here’s another fun theme - BUGS and BUGS... with the help of ordinary paints (as I said above), you can turn ordinary leaves into a bright family of beetles.

As a body for beetles from leaves, you can use walnut shells... berries and rose hips... chestnut shells...

Good luck with your creativity.

Olga Klishevskaya, especially for the site

Children are easily captivated by something new and interesting. If your child is already bored with drawing or modeling, you can invite him to make crafts from bright autumn leaves. This process is extremely fascinating - amazing things are born from simple dried leaves with the help of glue, thread and other improvised devices. By taking up appliqué or making vases and bouquets, the child will not only be able to develop his creative skills and imagination, but also get to know each other better. environment. Collecting a herbarium together for crafts is an excellent opportunity to teach a child to distinguish different breeds trees. So, what can you make from leaves?

Preparing leaves for crafts

To make any craft from leaves, you only need well-dried material, fresh leaves won't fit. Preparing the leaves takes long time, so you will have to be patient. In addition, the material needs to be dried correctly, here are the basic rules:

  1. If the evenness of the leaves is not important for the craft, they can be placed in a spacious container (for example, a large wicker basket) and leave it on fresh air. This will allow the leaves to dry quickly and allow air circulation to prevent mold from developing.
  2. To get perfectly smooth leaves, you need to place them between book pages or album sheets under a press. Carefully place the material between the sheets of books or albums. It will take at least 14 days for the material to completely dry and be ready for use.
  3. If you don't want to wait a long time, you can use a special herbarium press. To do this, fold a stack of leaves, alternating each layer with newsprint or scrap sheets. In a few days, the material for the crafts will be ready.

Leaf skeletons, due to their lightness and transparency, look very impressive as decoration. To achieve this effect, you need to resort to a special technique - skeletonization.

What you will need:

  • any fresh leaves;
  • soda;

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and leave to simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the stove and remove the leaves, carefully placing them on the table with the glossy side up.
  4. Remove excess moisture using napkins.
  5. Clean the pulp from the leaf with a brush (this must be done very carefully, the leaves are quite fragile).
  6. Rinse the skeleton under water and then paint it the desired color.
  7. Leave the painted skeletonized leaves to dry.

The resulting material is ready for use.

Bouquet of flowers from leaves

A bouquet is the simplest thing that can be made from leaves, and it is worth starting with it if the child has not previously done such crafts. To make a craft in the form of a home bouquet, it is not necessary to use real flowers, dry them, etc. The buds can be made from multi-colored leaves collected on a walk. Involve children in every step of the process, creating a real creative workshop.

What you will need to make the craft:

  • maple leaves (fresh) with stems;
  • spool of strong thread.

To make a bud from maple leaves, you will need to perform several actions:

  1. First take one sheet and fold it with the glossy side out.
  2. Roll the leaf into a tube.
  3. Fold the next sheet in half and wrap it around the tube.
  4. Continue wrapping the leaves around the bud until the flower is quite full.
  5. Wrap a thread around the base of the bud to prevent the flower from falling apart.

Using this method, you can make any number of flowers, which are then simply collected into a bouquet.

Topiaries can be made from the most different materials. You can often find crafts made from coffee, banknotes, sweets, hearts, etc. This version of topiary involves the use of maple leaves.

  1. The stick must be inserted into the pot and secured tightly with gypsum mortar. As a result, the structure will be strong and stable.
  2. Paint the pot and stick a color you like, such as gold to match the leaves.
  3. We attach a foam ball to the top of the stick - this is the future crown of the tree.
  4. Stick it in the ball required quantity leaves. For decoration, you can use berry bunches, ribbons, beads, as well as artificial twigs and flowers. To make the leaf stems more durable, they must first be soaked in a hot solution of glycerin (1 to 2) and left in this form for 10 days in a dark, cool place .
  5. Next we decorate the trunk and soil of the tree using dry moss, bark, and beads.

How to make a decorative autumn wreath

You can weave a beautiful wreath from bright autumn leaves to decorate windows, doors, walls, etc. A wreath attached to front door, will delight not only you, but also your guests.

What you will need for the craft:

  • bunches of red berries (rowan, viburnum, etc.);
  • physalis;
  • glue;
  • spool of strong threads;
  • decorative metallized threads;
  • small bird figurines for bouquets.

How to weave a wreath:

  1. The branches will serve as a frame - make a round or oval wreath out of them.
  2. For strength, secure the structure with thread in several places.
  3. Wrap the frame tightly with gold thread, leaving small branches free.
  4. Glue the leaves to the branches.
  5. Attach the berry clusters using thread.
  6. Glue or wrap physalis with threads.
  7. Finally, attach the birds to the wreath.

A finished craft made from leaves in the form of a wreath can be hung anywhere in the house; it will delight you with its beauty for a long time and remind you of the most colorful time of the year.

Beautiful autumn leaves can be used not only for simple children’s crafts, but also for complete interior decoration. One such product is a fruit bowl.

To make such a vase you need:

  • glue and brush;
  • inflatable ball;
  • petrolatum;
  • scissors;
  • maple leaves.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Inflate the balloon to the size you need.
  2. Lubricate the surface of the ball with Vaseline, this is necessary so that the leaves do not stick to it during the process and are easily separated from it.
  3. Fix the ball in a stationary state, this will make it more convenient for you to make your vase.
  4. Glue maple leaves to the ball, having first generously coated them with glue.
  5. To make the vase strong enough, you will need several layers of maple leaves.
  6. As soon as the last layer is completed, carefully coat the product with glue again and leave for 3 days.
  7. Burst or deflate the balloon and remove any remaining residue from the product.

The original interior decoration is ready.

  2. To wrap leaves around a frame, first soak them in hot water, so they will become softer and will not tear or break in the process.
  3. Glue the leaves onto the frame.
  4. Wait for the product to dry.

When the frame is ready, insert the photo into it, securing it with glue or tape.
