Do-it-yourself children's bed bus. Homemade children's bed in the form of a double-decker bus

If you have several kids who have to huddle in one room, then often there is an acute shortage of free space in their bedroom. Two standard beds can block the passage, after which there will be absolutely no space left for installing individual bedside tables or a wardrobe, for study, games, gymnastics. Many parents solve this problem by purchasing, which has many beneficial benefits. If for a toddler of two or three years old the prospect of living on the second floor looks frightening, then primary schoolchildren or adolescents take pleasure in the opportunity to sleep on a beautiful and original loft bed, reminiscent of a castle, medieval, steam locomotive or beautiful school bus.

Benefits of a bus bunk bed

  1. Such structures save space almost twice, as a result, children feel more comfortable in the confined space of their small bedroom.
  2. The double-decker bus bed has an original and interesting design, attracting babies of any gender with its look, comparing favorably with standard beds or sofas.
  3. Some crib models have complementary elements in the form of a cabinet, table or drawers, which transforms them into functional modular furniture.

Are there any disadvantages to the bus bed?

Usually, manufacturers make sure that their fantastic cars do not have sharp corners, but nevertheless, when buying, take a good look at the product for decorative elements that can be dangerous. You can often find a relatively cheap bus bed made from chipboard. Natural wood products are more expensive, but they are stronger, more reliable and durable.

For some designs, the bedroom has non-standard dimensions, so it can be difficult to find a mattress for it. It is best when it comes with the bed. In anticipation of their first child, many parents prefer to prepare a room for their baby in advance by purchasing furniture items such as a wardrobe, chest of drawers, a sofa. It should be borne in mind that one of the really necessary things in the first months is a crib, in which the child will lead almost all the time.

Choice of material and model

There are families in which dad is able to easily make a sofa equipped with powerful springs, neatly draped with exquisite fabric. For such a craftsman, it will not be difficult to make a cozy bed for your child with your own hands.

A rocking bed is the optimal model for a newborn. It is believed that you should not accustom your baby to hands, as this can significantly complicate the mother's life in the future. Therefore, the option of a bed that can be rhythmically rocked will be the best solution. The child will not get used to the hands, but will fall asleep much faster.

You should not waste time making newfangled models such as a rocking sofa, a ring-shaped bed, etc. The child is growing rapidly, and in about 1.5 years he will need another bed, with a larger size. It is better to focus on the classic version, in which the parents themselves once slept comfortably. Making the sofa can be done later, when the baby can go to bed on his own.

Today on sale there are a lot of structures made of wood, modern plastic and metal. According to experts, the optimal crib should be made of natural wood.

First of all, it is worth considering that plastic is capable of producing an allergic reaction. Metal is too cold a material that quickly heats up in summer from the action of sunlight. The wooden bed is the ideal resting place for pleasant dreams. Natural wood practically does not cause allergies, does not decompose in sunlight, does not heat up in direct rays like metal, and looks great outwardly.

A beautiful bed, put together by dad, provides a sound sleep, no worse than a ready-made sofa from a famous brand.

Technological process

To make a crib you will need:

  • plywood faced with beech veneer, 4, 15 and 18 mm thick;
  • template;
  • 4 bolts М8-60;
  • washers, nuts;
  • nails;
  • screws;
  • wooden dowels with a diameter of 8 mm;
  • wood glue;
  • saw-hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver.
  • sandpaper;
  • drill.
  • milling machine;
  • paint brush;
  • primer;
  • water-based paint.

Most of the details are made from a sheet of plywood. Side rail balusters are made of sheet, the thickness of which is 4 mm. Each side rail baluster is made of 2 blanks glued in thickness.

The following elements must be completed to assemble the rocking chair with your own hands:

  • backrests - 2 parts, 828x620x18 mm;
  • shelf - 900x450x18 mm;
  • side wall - 900x270x18 mm;
  • handrails, 2 parts - 900x4x18 mm;
  • support bars, 2 parts - 60x18x18 mm;
  • runners, 4 parts - 760x80x15 mm;
  • stoppers, 4 parts - 190x70x15 mm;
  • cover plates, 2 parts - 680x470x15 mm;
  • side wall overlay - 800x90x15 mm;
  • base - 900x470x15 mm;
  • elements for balusters, 40 parts - 240x25x4 mm.

All parts are cut from a plywood sheet of a certain thickness using a hacksaw. Previously, a drawing of parts is applied to the plywood. When gluing the balusters, you need to give them a slight curvature using a special template. After gluing and removing the clamps, the block hardens very quickly, while straightening. Therefore, it is recommended to make a template with a slightly smaller radius than the desired bend of the baluster.

Holes for dowels are made in the side walls using a drill with a stop-stop. Grooves are made in the handrails and side walls to accommodate the balusters. The balusters are glued between the handrails and side railings, thoroughly cleaning the surface of all elements with sandpaper. It is better to give the balusters a slight curvature during gluing by pressing the clamps to the surface of the template. This will give the crib a pleasant appearance. The concave side of the balusters should be on the outside of the fence during assembly.

If a master who can easily assemble a sofa decides to use decorative overlays, they should be strengthened before assembling the entire structure. Attach them to the front, back, and optionally to the side wall using clamps. As soon as the parts are glued, the surface of the elements must be carefully sanded. Optimal performance of this task is possible with a vibrating grinder. You can use decorative carnations for fastening, sinking their caps into the tree as deeply as possible.

Before assembling the entire structure, it is advisable to round off and carefully grind the edges. This procedure is especially carefully carried out with handrails and the upper edges of the panels, to which the grown baby will easily reach with the handles. Grinding and rounding are done with a milling machine.

The support runners are equipped with 2 stopper-limiters that prevent the structure from overturning when swinging. Stoppers are cut out of 15 mm thick plywood. The front and back walls are fixed with dowels and glue with runners. All parts are fixed with self-tapping screws.

To make the bed look no worse than a purchased sofa, you should prime the surface of the entire model and, after complete drying, paint over the parts with water-based paint. It is undesirable to use varnishes and oil paints, since the smell from them lasts for a very long time and can negatively affect the health of the child.

Baby cot: diagram, photo, dimensions. How to make a crib with your own hands.

The question of how to make a crib on their own usually arises for future parents waiting for replenishment in the family. Of course, a crib for a baby can be bought in a store, but in fact it can be made with your own hands from natural wood and it will be no worse than the purchased version. Indeed, for the future dad, a self-made crib will also be a source of pride.

In the frame of the mattress topper we drill holes with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw so that the screw is tightly screwed into the wood. Screw in the screws with a polyhedron wrench.

Then we fix the sidewalls in the same way, we need 8 screws, 4 screws per side.

A little effort and a crib for a newborn is ready, the crib does not need to be painted or varnished because when the child grows up a little and his teeth are cut, he will inevitably try to gnaw the sides of the crib, so varnish and paint are not the best option for covering a crib.

Buying a baby bed for a baby who is about to be born is a necessary item of expenditure from the family budget. Such designs are not cheap, so you should think about how to make a baby bed with your own hands. if dad or grandfather has golden hands, then it will not be difficult for them to unite and start work.

By the time the newborn and mother are discharged, everything will be ready, because it will take only 2 days for the baby.

How to make a baby bed with your own hands: what to buy?

  • Hypoallergenic mattress,
  • a sander (or rent),
  • a roll of sandpaper if you can't find a sander,
  • drawing paper,
  • jigsaw,
  • roulette,
  • tailor's triangle,
  • corner,
  • nails,
  • self-tapping screws,
  • anchor bolts,
  • plywood,
  • natural wood beams,
  • furniture boards and corners,
  • slats and board.

How to make a baby bed with your own hands: no toxins!

Do not try to use a sheet of fiberboard, chipboard, sanded or laminated in your work: they release toxins into the air that will harm the health of a newborn. Only natural materials such as beech, pine, birch or oak can be used.

At the same time, carefully grind all wooden blanks with a machine or emery to avoid getting a splinter, which will surely hurt and fester in the baby's body.

Before doing, buy a mattress: without it, you will not be able to correctly perform the calculations, and it is advisable to purchase a mattress for a child so that it ventilates the bed well, for example, bamboo.

Get started

If you decide to make a crib of a standard size, then draw on a sheet of paper details that will fit into these dimensions: 90 by 40 by 50 cm.Then cut out the parts, placing them compactly on a furniture sheet and drill holes in four blocks of natural wood at a distance 5 cm apart, so that you can assemble the sides from the same bar, resembling a lattice.

At the bottom of your structure, try to cut a sheet of MDF of the required size, drill 10 holes for air and you can fasten it to the frame with screws.

On the back, 90 x 30 cm plywood is quite suitable, which can be fixed with screws. If desired, you can varnish the crib, but this is not necessary.

How to decorate your bed?

A few bright ribbons or hand-painted acrylics in a conspicuous place are enough. do not use: the child in the crib should rest, and not distract himself from sleep with bright spots.

Preparing for the appearance of a baby, future parents will have to incur considerable expenses. Baby clothes, nappies and diapers, an envelope for an extract, a blanket - you can list for a long time. Perhaps one of the most expensive purchases is a crib, which is difficult to do without. But sometimes the money is very close, and you have to look for a cheaper option, but of high quality.

Trying to meet the minimum amount, you can use two methods: choose a new model from inexpensive cribs or look for a used high-quality crib.

Cheap cots

In this case, it is worth thinking about the products of Russian companies - they often cost an order of magnitude cheaper than imported ones. And we will choose a simpler model - without any "bells and whistles". The usual classic version of an inexpensive baby crib for a newborn is quite suitable - the main thing is that the product is made soundly, using safe materials.

Note that the cheapest cribs are usually pine. Their disadvantage is the softness of the wood, which the child can chew on. But this breed contains extremely useful phytoncides.

Experienced parents identify three leaders among domestic manufacturers of budget cribs:

  • Company Kubanlesstroy (Lel), which produces very durable and beautiful products, moreover, from beech wood, which is considered the strongest. The beds of this company bear delicate floral names: "Cornflower", "Buttercup", "Lily of the valley". The price of their cribs for newborns starts at six thousand rubles.
  • Company Mozhga (Red Star) - a well-known manufacturer of furniture for little ones, engaged in this business for over a hundred years Inexpensive beds at Mozhga are mostly birch, they cost from five thousand rubles.
  • Brand products Gandilyan They are distinguished by a cute and varied design, streamlined shapes, and reliable assembly. They, like the previous ones, are able to withstand not one baby, but several. The cheapest products will cost from six thousand rubles.

Budget cribs from manufacturers (photo)

Crib Mozhga

But recently, new manufacturers of cribs for newborns with good reviews have appeared on the market. For example, an enterprise Vedruss from the city of Sergiev Posad. It makes beds for a little over 4 thousand rubles. And near Arkhangelsk there is a company SKV-Company, which produces even cheaper products - a little more than two thousand rubles.

And the leader at the lowest price is the Swedish-made bed. The simplest model "SNIGLAR" from IKEA will cost two thousand rubles.

Purchase from hand

Do not lose sight of such an option as buying a used crib for newborns. Moreover, he sometimes allows you to buy an excellent foreign children's bed inexpensively: for mere pennies. It can be a product of a well-known brand (for example, Italian, Spanish, French), characterized by excellent quality and great design. And the fact that it has passed the test of time will even be beneficial. So you will know for sure that the crib is strong and reliable enough. In addition, for a minimal cost, you can manage to buy, for example, a practical transformer or a high-quality crib for newborns.

Baby cot for a newborn

It is especially successful if such an acquisition is made from good friends - you can be confident in the seller. However, no one bothers you to check the quality of the item being sold by shaking the sides, pressing on the bottom, looking at how attractive the appearance is after use. And if none of your friends and neighbors offers to buy a crib for a newborn, it is possible to try your luck on sites with free ads. Many mothers bought their cribs this way and are very satisfied.

There are, for example, resources such as Avito, "From hand to hand",where you can buy a cheap baby cot for newborns. Each of them has a convenient sorting by city, product type and other parameters. Another site worth mentioning is “ Beblog". On it you can not only find used children's things, but also get a lot of useful information. As for the price, you can buy an old bed for one and a half rubles, and even cheaper. How to agree.

Dads who love tinkering will gladly plunge into the fascinating process of making a bed for their future son or daughter. This process cannot be called insanely difficult, especially for the classic version. To begin with, we will select everything you need.

Materials and tools

If you want round slats like a shop crib, check out your gardening store - you'll often find them there. Or you can take rectangular blocks (1.5x2.5, 2x2, 2x3 cm) for this purpose. The frame - the basis of the sleeping bed - is assembled from 5x5 or 7x3.5 cm bars. The same bars are used to create each of the walls, the continuation of which will be the legs of the crib. Bars 5x3 cm are needed for a slatted bed. If you plan to make one-piece backs, then stock up on a sheet of plywood 1.8-2 cm.

In addition, you will need fasteners (bolts, screws), and you will also need metal corners for strengthening. You must also buy plugs (plastic) - they will cover the fasteners that must be recessed into the tree. Also, stock up on epoxy glue, as well as a lot of emery cloth - after all, the baby product should be absolutely smooth and strong.

From the tools we will use:

  • drill (better than electric);
  • with a file;
  • hammer;
  • jigsaw;
  • rasp;
  • woodworking tool (ideally);
  • a sander for wood;
  • level and tape measure;
  • milling machine;
  • a mechanism that grips the glued parts.

Blueprints

Here, too, there will be no special problems - the standard size of children's mattresses is 1.2 by 0.6 m. You need to focus on it. It will be very nice if there is already a mattress for the future crib, then it will be possible to easily make the bottom using it. As for the height of the sides, the optimal size (if you count from the floor level) is 0.9 m. The backs should be slightly higher - 20 centimeters. And the bed should be 30-35 cm from the floor. We leave 10 cm between the individual crossbars.

The drawing for a crib with your own hands is very simple. But if you want to build a more cunning design, then you can turn to specialized magazines or books, where you can find drawings of baby cots with dimensions. And then someone might want to make a transforming bed for their child, for example.

Technology and manufacturing process

First you need to make frames for the sides and backs (if those are lattice). In the case of solid backs, we cut them out of plywood. It is advisable to fasten the bars with thorns of the through type, providing them at the end of each bar. But glue and screw connections are also possible. For the bottom of the crib, we take six bars 5x3 cm. To attach the fence rods to the crossbars, drill holes with a 16 mm drill.

How to make a crib with your own hands (video):

We glue all the parts to be connected using a clamp. Fastening the backs and sides of the bed together, we use self-tapping screws (from 8 to 10 cm). The legs of the bed can be either separate parts (by the way, you can take it from an old bedside table, for example) or a continuation of the frame design. In the latter case, this must be foreseen. On request, it is possible to equip the crib with furniture wheels. But then don't forget about the clamps! And one more thing: when making the front wall, you can provide for its folding or a door in it. A moving car wall is a bit tricky for a DIYer.

Having made this simple product, pay due attention to processing.

Thoroughly sand and sandpaper all parts so that not the slightest roughness or chipping remains anywhere. Close the fasteners with plugs. Finish with safe varnishes and paints (those suitable for children's toys are suitable), for example, water-based. Or you can do without them altogether by rubbing the bed with wax (sold ready-made) or special oil for wood.

The birth of a baby is a joyful and significant event in the family. But it is necessary to prepare for the birth of a baby in advance. Before the onset of this joyful event, you need to prepare a nursery, buy a stroller, diapers, undershirts, items for hygiene and bathing for your baby and many other necessary things for a newborn. The expenses are expected to be rather big. But not every family, especially a young one, can afford to spend the family budget without thinking about saving.
Furnishing a children's room is one of the most expensive activities for a young family. But it is not at all necessary to buy all children's furniture. Some necessary items for a nursery can be made by hand. One of these options is that the dad of the future "heir" can easily make after reading our recommendations.
Child up to a year develops very quickly - before you have time to look back, the newborn baby, who only knows how to observe the events taking place around, turns into a playful toddler participating in these events in the most active way. Therefore, the created one must be strong, stable and safe for the baby.

Below we will describe in detail the entire process of making a crib with our own hands, and also tell you about what materials and tools will be needed for all stages of work. Our crib will turn out to be modern, functional and comfortable with a removable sidewall in the form of a decorative side - when the child grows up, he will be able to climb in and out of the crib on his own. The size of the bed is suitable for a child under 4 years of age.

So, what tools will be needed to make a crib:
1. Jigsaw (preferably electric)
2. Hammer
3. Grinding machine
4. Measuring instruments (tape measure, level)
5. Rasp
6. Woodworking machine (you can also use a hand tool if you are good at it)
7. Milling machine (you can take a manual one) with a set of cutters
8. Clamp (for gluing blanks)
9. Electric drill, drills

List of materials for making a crib:
1. Children's mattress (1200x600 mm)
2. Bars (section - 50x30 mm)
3. Edged board (thickness - 40 mm). Desirable from coniferous wood
4. Slats with a section of 20x20 mm made of strong wood (oak or beech)
5. Self-tapping screws
6. Epoxy adhesive
7. High-quality furniture varnish, stain
8. Furniture plugs
9. Plywood (thickness - 3-4 mm)
10. Connecting corners (furniture)
11. Small nails (20 mm)

The first stage in our work is the purchase of a baby crib mattress. Is it done dIY crib or purchased from a store - the choice of the appropriate mattress for the child's resting place is essential for the correct development of the baby and the formation of the musculoskeletal system. It is advisable to purchase an orthopedic children's mattress made of coconut fiber impregnated with latex. It is important that the size of the mattress exactly matches the size of the bottom of the crib. But since we make a crib with our own hands, we can easily adjust the bed to the size of the purchased mattress - 1200x600 mm.
So, we determine the width and length of the bed, focusing on the dimensions of the mattress:
The height of the sides from the floor is 900 mm, and the backrest will be made higher - 1100 mm

The location of the extremely low position of the bed (bed of the crib) from the floor will be determined based on the safe height that a 2-3 year old child can easily overcome when climbing into the crib - 300-340 mm.
The vertical rods of the walls and backs of the crib should be located at a distance of 110-120 mm from each other so that the baby cannot push his head between the rods.

We make details for a crib:
We make the harness for the transverse sides and backs from coniferous boards.
We process boards on a woodworking machine - width 70 mm and thickness 35 mm

For a frame for a children's mattress, we take bars (section - 50x30 mm)
Six crossbars for a 1200x600 mm frame. We knit the frame with a single deaf thorn - we make nests in long bars 25 mm deep.
To save time and reduce errors, we make markings at the same time, in a package, on all the same parts.
It is advisable to select the nests on a slotting machine. But you can make a selection by drilling with revision with a chisel, a straight cutter, or using a hand-held milling machine.
The formula for calculating the length of the cross bars - subtract the double width of the bars from 600 mm and add the double depth of the nest to the result.
At both ends of the bars with dark shoulders, we will make thorns, using a through thorn for the bundle.

The cleats can be made with a circular saw with an outlet height adjuster. Let's set the stop-limiter to the entire length of the spike. The saw exit is calculated according to the dimensions of the seat so that the cut on each side of the bar leaves a spike with a thickness equal to the slot width. When working with the stop-stop, it is enough to mark only 1 spike.
Make cuts on identical parts, then remove the stop stop. We remove the excess wood with a saw, gradually shifting our workpiece.
Use the rasp to make the final fit of the spike to the socket.
We glue the frame of the berth on the viper, not forgetting to carefully control its rectangularity.

We make a frame for the back of a baby cot:
Formula for calculating the backrest width for a crib: 600 mm + double sidewall thickness + 20 mm.
We assemble the backrest frame with a 35 mm spike.
The length of the crossbars for the backs is calculated as follows: subtract the double width of the crib leg from the width of the backrest and add double the length of the thorn.
The lower cross member should be located at such a height that it covers the stock frame in the lowest position (300 mm from edge to end of the legs)

We make rods for a crib:
For the manufacture of rods, we will use slats with a section of 20x20 mm (oak or beech).
We connect the poles with the cross-sections of the backs and sides with a single deaf thorn (according to the principle "in the dark").
We drill round nests for spikes in cross-sections (drill with a diameter of 16 mm) to a depth of 20 mm. The distance from each other is 100 mm.
Having assembled the backrest frame (without glue), we measure the length of the rods. Add two lengths of spikes (20x2 mm) to the resulting length of the rod.
We make the spikes on the rods with a saw, adjusting to the nests and rounding them with a rasp.
Important addition: manufactured dIY crib should not have jags, sharp edges and corners! Therefore, the rods must be carefully ground, and the corners of the rods must be rounded off with a cutter with a support bearing.
On the cross sections of the backs, round the corners of the face with the slots and carefully grind it. We do these manipulations BEFORE the final assembly of the crib elements.

We glue the backs of the crib:
We glue the perches across the frame, and then immediately assemble the entire headboard. We squeeze the back on the vime, having previously adjusted the right angle.

Crib sides:
The dimensions of the sides are not the same. The lower crossbars of the crib backrests must match in height with the lower crossbar of both sides.
Far sidewall dimensions:
The length of the sidewall is equal to the length of the stock plus 10 mm.
Sidewall height - 900 mm minus the height of the lower transverse blanks of the back frame.

It is necessary to provide for a removable bar on the outer side for the convenience of using the crib. To do this, the length of the perch of this side will be made 150 mm shorter than that of the opposite one.
The spikes of the perches for the sides and the nests for them are made in the same way as for the backs (see above)
At the transverse side blanks, we round off the corners of the side with the nests, and then we carefully grind it.

We glue the side wall on the clamp. We fix the structure so that the ends of the transverse parts are located on one line perpendicular to their length (to avoid displacement of the transverse parts).
The decorative side will be the same length as the sides. The width of the decorative side is 70 mm (plus or minus 10-15 mm, at your discretion).
The length of the removable bar should be the same as the side of the crib. Width - 50 mm. The groove depth of the strip at the ends in width is 10-15 mm.
Round off the inner corners of the bed with the appropriate cutter.

Putting the sides and backs of the crib together. To fasten the elements, we use wood screws (80-100 mm long).
Having inserted the frame of the bed through spacers with a thickness of 2-3 mm symmetrically to the middle line of the back, we mark the places where the backs join the sidewalls. We remove the gaskets after the marking is completed (they were added so that the bed frame had free movement inside the crib frame).
We drill through holes (5 mm in diameter) in the backs along the midline of the created marking (two for each joint).
The removable strip should be flush with the edge of the far sidewall. Let's mark the position of the removable frame on the back and fix the clips.
With the help of elastic bands, we will fix the removable strip on the outer sidewall, for which we will drill holes through and through in the upper cross member of the outer edge and in the strip coaxially. Then, with a drill of a larger diameter, we will expand the holes for hidden fixation of the rubber band to a small depth (we select the diameter for plastic plugs).
Then we cover the bed frame with plywood (3-4 mm thick) and fix it with small studs.

Finishing work.
After dIY crib will be fully assembled, you can start finishing work. The most important criterion for choosing a crib decoration means is absolute harmlessness to the baby's health! It is better to use a special harmless varnish to cover the crib. We will apply the varnish three times - after each coat, let the varnish dry and sand well layer by layer.
DIY baby bed, will last a long time and the baby, sweetly falling asleep in it, will see good, joyful dreams!

When we were visiting friends, my sons really liked the bunk bed and they wanted the same for themselves. Remembering that the younger's favorite toy was a double-decker London bus, he decided to build something similar.

Putting together a bed-bus in stages

1 ... Having decided on the installation site, I drew a drawing of all the details of the bed (see fig.)

2 ... According to the sketch, I cut the parts into the desired size, processed with a grinder.

3 ... The frame was assembled from boards with a section of 10 × 2.5 cm.For connection, I used self-tapping screws and PVA construction glue.

4 ... According to the sketch, I sewed up the frame openings with 12 mm thick plywood (photo 1).

Do you like to relax?

YesNot

5 ... I fixed the crossbars on the lower and upper tiers for installing mattresses, screwed on the shelves-steps for lifting, and installed wooden boxes for children's things in the niches that turned out under them (photo 2). I also made a box for the lower opening. I painted the structure first with acrylic paints of the desired colors in two layers with interlayer drying, and then fixed the coating with a layer of colorless acrylic varnish.

6 ... So that the design would correspond to the idea - the bus bed, on the outside at the bottom, fixed the wheels from the garden cart.

7 ... I parked the bus "in the corner of the room, placed the seats (mattresses) in it and invited the young passengers to the first flight.

Running in a two-storey car "went off with a bang! I think that many of you will also adopt my experience.

But who does not have much space in the room but needs three berths, we offer this option

When our third child was born, there was little room in the children's cottage house. In order not to occupy the space of a small room with bulky furniture, I made a compact sleeping corner.

The size of the sleeping places was selected based on the dimensions of the mattresses from the existing cots. From a board with a section of 20 × 2.5 cm and multilayer plywood 14 mm thick, I assembled three lounger boxes.

With a grinder I rounded off the sharp edges of the sides and removed small burrs.

The first box was placed on the floor in the corner of the room. The second was fixed a little higher - perpendicular to the first, screwing to it on one side a ladder made of slats with a section of 10x25 cm. I fixed the racks of the required length from the same material to the walls of the room.

In the same way, I fixed the third upper box parallel to the lower one.

For the reliability and strength of the structure, the sides of each lounger were screwed to the adjacent walls with anchor bolts.

I painted the structure with acrylic paint in one layer. After drying, I put the mattresses in their places. The sleeping corner was liked not only by the children, but also by friends who came to visit for the weekend. They gladly settled in it for the night.

The iconic bright red London bus is the inspiration for this original bunk crib. To build this exotic "sleeping vehicle" designed for kids ages three to seven, you will need the following tools and materials:
unpainted MDF boards;
felt;
screws;
reduced Forstner;
baskets;
miniature dressers;
drill and screws;
electric jigsaw;
construction vacuum cleaner;
paint.

Tips for beginners
1. To secure the stop bar before cutting, first insert the saw blade into the outer right hole drilled in the window, close to the cut edge, and secure the bar to the right with a momentary clamp. After that, insert the saw into the left hole of the window and re-clamp the bar. As a result of these actions, when cutting, you will get a straight and even cut.

2. Felt, which has a dense fibrous structure, is most conveniently cut on a solid substrate with a special roller knife, which is similar in shape and principle of operation to a pizza knife. If you do not have such a knife with a freely rotating disc blade, cut the felt with large tailor's scissors, but in this case the cut of the material will not be so smooth and neat.

Drawing of the crib "Bus"

1.Construct the hood of this toy bus with MDF boards, for this cut out the parts of the desired size from the boards and glue them back to back. Place four baskets measuring 23 x 23 x 25 cm under the hood. Make the headlights of the bus from painted wooden discs.

2. Make the fenders of the sleeper bus out of red plastic mini-dressers for storing CDs. The size of each such box is 34 x 17 x 27 cm. Attach the cladding plates to the crib frame with screws.

3. In order to mask the joint between the two facing boards, place a decorative strip painted white over the seam and screw it to the crib body.

4. On MDF boards, mark the location of door and window openings. To make the doors and windows of the bus rounded, drill holes in the marked corners with a 35mm Forstner drill. This operation will also make it easier for you to cut further.

5. To easily and evenly cut the slab, fix the stop bar on it so that the jigsaw blade moves strictly along the marking line.

6. When all horizontal lines have been cut, make vertical cuts in the same way.

7. Smooth the window edges with a top mill. Dust that forms in large quantities during this operation, immediately remove from the work surface with a construction vacuum cleaner.

8. On the piece of felt, from which you will make the door, paint for textiles paint the glazing.

A crib is the first furniture that young parents acquire. As a rule, a sleeping place is purchased before the baby is born. But children grow up quickly, and after a few years, a more spacious bed must be acquired to replace the cozy cradle. Quality furniture is not easy to find, and prices are not affordable for every family budget. If you have certain skills, you can go the other way and make a bed with your own hands.

Baby crib scheme

Ideal children's furniture should have the following qualities:

  • be made from natural, safe materials;
  • have a "breathable" design;
  • have enhanced strength;
  • not have sharp corners, protrusions and other dangerous elements;
  • have a smooth, sanded surface to eliminate the risk of splinters and scratches;
  • match the height and weight of the child;
  • protect the baby from falling;
  • have high functionality (in addition to the berth, there are also sections for storing things).

Benefits of making a baby bed yourself.

  1. You are confident in the quality of the materials from which the crib is made, since you yourself choose them and work with them yourself. In store products, this parameter is not always obvious.
  2. You develop the design of the bed, taking into account the individual needs and characteristics of the child (if any), the dimensions and stylistic orientation of the room.
  3. You can independently test the strength of the bed structure during its manufacture and, as a result, be sure that jumping on the mattress will not end in furniture breakage.
  4. You save a lot if you compare the cost of your own bed with the prices of stores;
  5. You get real pleasure creating furniture for your son or daughter with your own hands.

Deciding on the design of the bed

The easiest way to make a classic crib is a frame, four legs, a headboard and a mattress. However, such a model carries a minimum functional load - it simply provides the child with a sleeping place. Suitable for a spacious bedroom of one child, where there is already a spacious wardrobe, and there is no need for additional storage space.

If the children's room does not differ in impressive dimensions, it will be more practical to supplement the bed structure with drawers or even a chest of drawers. This will allow you to more effectively organize the space in the room.

The loft bed is even more functional. It allows you to raise the child's bed to the second tier, and at the bottom to organize a wardrobe, a table, bookshelves or a sports corner, depending on the needs of the child. However, such a design will require serious skills in the process of creating the bed. If you are just starting your journey in the manufacture of furniture, it is better to stop at the first two options.

Finally, bunk beds are especially popular. This is a great way to comfortably accommodate two children in a small children's room. However, as in the case of the loft bed, it is not easy to make a bunk bed yourself and before starting work, it is better to carefully weigh your strengths and capabilities.

We will consider further instructions using the example of creating a bed with drawers. This is a fairly simple option and is suitable even for a person with minimal skills in creating furniture. At the same time, this crib is practical and functional.

Required materials and tools

It is better to make a bed from solid wood. It is the most environmentally friendly and safe material to create truly durable furniture. MDF made of light wood is well suited. Heavy solid wood is not suitable for cots, as this furniture often has to be moved and rearranged.

In addition to MDF blanks, you will also need a wooden beam for lamellas. For this part of the bed, choose an elastic material (for example, plywood will work in this case, but chipboard will not).

In addition to wood and plywood, you will need:

  • special corners made of metal;
  • self-tapping screws and other fasteners of various diameters;
  • guiding elements for boxes;
  • drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • grinder;
  • sandpaper;
  • paper tape.

In addition, at the final stage of making the bed, you will also need a mattress. When choosing, do not save money, give preference to a high-quality orthopedic model. An important nuance - although the mattress is installed last, it is better to purchase it in advance and make a drawing of the bed for its actual dimensions.

We start manufacturing

Before starting work, decide on a drawing of a suitable bed model for you. Then get to work.

  1. Mark all the necessary details of the future bed on the tree. This can be done with a simple pencil. When the furniture is ready, the traces of the lead can simply be washed off.
  2. All marked parts are cut out with a jigsaw. Make cuts evenly and follow the path of the tool. Use tape to glue all cut edges.
  3. If the headboard of the bed or the sides suggests some complex carved shapes, use improvised objects to draw them - plates, glasses, etc.
  4. Cut metal corners based on the length of the sides. Then drill holes in them for self-tapping screws.
  5. Further, the corners are attached in such a way that later a mattress can be installed on them. Their function is to increase the strength of the frame. Children's bed made of wood Children's bed in the form of a car
  6. Place the future bed sideways so that it is more convenient to attach the rest of its parts.
  7. All corners, decorative elements, legs and other surfaces are carefully sanded with a grinder, and those parts to which she has no access - with sandpaper.
  8. If it is supposed to be covered with varnish or any other means, it is better to do this while the bed is disassembled.
  9. When all the details are sanded, processed and dried after varnishing, we assemble the bed with a metal tie - this is more reliable.
  10. Next, we assemble metal boxes, mount guide elements to the walls of the bed, and castors to the boxes. Two large drawers are considered a universal design. Finally, we install the mattress and cover the sleeping place. Your crib is completely ready with your own hands - you can invite your child to try it out.

Decor variations

A simple bed with drawers usually does not imply any special design solutions. As a decoration, you can choose original drawer handles or make a carved headboard. You can also paint the bed in your chosen color, highlighting the design of the rest of the child's room. The option with painting the headboard or legs, the use of special decorative stickers and other decorative elements is allowed.

You can emphasize the classic design of a children's bedroom with carved legs or sides.

If you have certain skills, the sides of such a bed with drawers can be made in the form of the walls of a car, resulting in a bed-typewriter, which is popular today. For girls, you can make a sleeping place in the form of a carriage. However, many young women also like options with cars, except that it is better to make the colors more "feminine" colors.

Carved handrails and slats can be used to decorate a bunk bed. A more difficult option is to arrange a bunk bed or loft bed in the form of a castle or fortress, a tree house. To do this, it is enough to cut out the facade of the corresponding type and paint it in accordance with the sketch.

Whatever bed you decide to create with your own hands, remember: you are creating furniture for a child. Approach the task responsibly. There are no trifles in creating furniture - the safety of those who will use this furniture depends on the grinding of every corner and the strength of each joint. Put your maximum effort, care and love into your product - and such a bed will give your child good dreams, and you - joy and satisfaction from the work done.
