As in the previous case, making it yourself is pretty easy.

1. For this you need a bar or metal plate. If you use a plate, then in the future it will be possible to fix it with a padlock, having previously made loops under it.

2. A plate or timber about 60 cm long is fastened with a bolt on one sash, about a third from its edge.

3. Then you need to take two sections of the channel with a length of about 10 cm and weld. The width should match the bar so that it can easily enter. If you use a plate, then instead of a channel, a metal corner cut off from one side is welded, so that the plate fits snugly between it and the sash.

4. This mechanism operates on the principle of a barrier. If you decide to equip with a padlock, then on one side of the plate a loop is welded under it, and the second is attached directly to the sash.

This design is used for both gates and wickets.

And almost everyone can do it with their own hands.

1. To make the bolt, you need a metal plate 50 mm wide and about 40 cm long, which, in turn, will move back and forth in special grooves.

2. The grooves are bolted or welded. Then a metal plate is inserted into them. For reliability, the gate is provided with additional vertical bolts.

3. To make them with your own hands, you will need L-shaped rods with a diameter of 10 mm. For garage doors, it is enough to fix such a stop at the top of the sash in order to fix it when closing. Ordinary swing gates are often fitted with two stops at the bottom.

This model is very simple, but it is also best used in conjunction with vertical locks.

1. For its manufacture you need a tube with an inner diameter of at least 10 mm. With the help of a grinder, it is cut into three segments, one of which should be about 10 cm, and the other two, 5 cm each.

2. A long section is welded horizontally on the edge of the sash, then it is necessary to weld the second piece on the opposite sash also along the edge, opposite the first tube.

3. Then a pre-prepared bolt made of a T-shaped rod is inserted into them. The diameter of the rod should be such that it fits easily into the tube. The espagnolette is pushed in until it stops, and the third piece of the tube is put on its edge and welded.

4. To fix the lock, only when closed, a piece of metal plate is attached under its handle. If a padlock is planned, then the handle should go into special eyes with hinges for it.

This mechanism is often used for high metal gates. It's also easy to do it yourself.

1. To begin with, a finger is welded at the top of the box from a piece of reinforcement with a diameter of at least 15 mm. For it, in the future, the second curved finger will be wound up, installed on the anchor rod and closing the lock.

2. To attach the anchor rod, a piece of tube of the required diameter is welded in the upper part, the second piece must be attached below the middle. After installing the rod, the bottom of the lower tube is welded, and the anchor rotates in it like in a stand.

3. With the help of a grinder, a cut is made in the anchor rod and a hardened metal plate is inserted, which is fastened with a bolt. Further, a hook is made on the second flap, for which in the future the plate will be wound when closing.

  2. We fasten each of the same beams symmetrically to opposite sections. The fasteners must be rigid, for this purpose we pre-drill holes for the bolts. An alternative to the beams can be a metal profile, which is welded or bolted in the same way.
  3. We fasten the latch bar closer to the edge of one of the gates by means of a long bolt: the bar should rotate without any resistance.

The design of this type of constipation is quite simple, therefore, they are often equipped with gates of garages or other utility rooms.

It is necessary to prepare a metal plate or timber as a material for the manufacture of a "barrier". In the variant using a plate, we use a padlock to fix it (for this, you will need to equip hinges for it in advance).

  1. We fasten a bar or a metal plate (length 60 centimeters) to one of the gate leaves by means of a bolt (about a third from the edge of the alignment).
  2. In the version with a bar, we take two cuts of the channel (length 10 centimeters) and weld. The width of the cuts should be the same as the width of the timber for easy entry. If we use a plate, an alternative to the channel will be a metal corner, which is cut off on one side (for a tight fit of the plate between it and the gate) and welded.

The action of the mechanism is based on the principle of the barrier, hence its name.


This type of locks is widely used when equipping wickets and gates.

If you decide to opt for a sliding bolt, you will need to prepare a metal plate 40 centimeters long and 50 millimeters wide, which, in fact, will ensure the operation of the mechanism by moving back and forth in the equipped grooves. The grooves are fastened by welding or bolts. After that, we insert the plate into the grooves.

In order to make the structure more reliable, it is worth additionally equipping the gate with vertical locks. For their device, we need several rods that have an L-shaped shape, with a diameter of 10 millimeters. If we are dealing with garage doors, the best option would be to fix one such stop on top of each alignment, to fix it when closing. If we equip standard swing gates, the right solution would be to install two stops at the bottom of each gate.

This model, like the previous one, is distinguished by its simplicity of design. When choosing this type of lock, it is also recommended to install vertical bolts

  1. In order to make a latch bolt, we will take a metal tube with a diameter of at least ten millimeters. We cut the tube into three parts with a grinder. The length of one of the cuts should be 10 centimeters, the other two should be 5 centimeters.
  2. Weld horizontally a long section of the tube to the edge of the alignment, and one of the short ones to the edge of the opposite alignment, symmetrically long.
  3. We insert a latch into the tube cuts, the basis for which will be a T-shaped rod with a diameter corresponding to the diameter of the tube. We push the bolt all the way in and put the last piece of the tube on its end, weld it on.
  4. In order to securely fix the bolt, we attach a piece of metal plate under its handle.

Locks of this design are widely used to equip metal gates.

  1. We weld a reinforcing bar to the upper part of the structure body, the diameter of which must be at least 15 millimeters. For this "finger", we will further wind another curved rod, standing on the anchor rod, and thus close the bolt.
  2. In order to fix the anchor rod, it is necessary to weld a pipe section of the corresponding diameter to the upper part of the structure body. Another cut should be fixed at the bottom of the case. Having installed the rod, we weld the bottom of the lower cut: as a result, the anchor will rotate freely in the tube, which serves as a stand for it.
  3. We make a cut in the anchor rod using a grinder. We insert a metal plate into the cut, which we fasten with a bolt. After that, we equip a hook on the alignment.
