Stages of manufacturing insulated industrial gates.

1. Manufacturing of gate leaves:

The frame is made from corner # 90. The corner is cut to the required dimensions. The frame of the future sash is being welded. It is very important at this stage to correctly maintain the dimensions and diagonals, which in the future will greatly facilitate the installation of industrial doors.

Triangles (kerchiefs) are welded from sheet metal at the corners of the sash. This will increase the strength of the sash, thus avoiding sagging in the future.

Around the perimeter, the sash must be welded with a corner.

Note! From the inside, it is necessary to paint over the gate, because after installing the sandwich panels, it will be problematic to do this!

2. Sandwich filling:

3. Sandwich Compression:

To fix the sandwich in the sash, it is necessary to squeeze it from above with a 45 m corner. We make a frame of exactly the same size as the sash and apply it around the perimeter to the panel.

Further, the bottom corner of the sash is welded to the 45th corner, previously pressed against the panel as much as possible. Next, we foam the distance between the sandwich and the corner for better sealing of the gate. Thus, we obtain a gate structure insulated with sandwich panels.

4. Painting the gate:

In general, paint work is carried out all the time during assembly. Since at the end of the assembly, it will no longer be possible to paint the internal parts of the insulated gate structure, you should take care of this during assembly. All internal parts of the structure are painted BEFORE the crimping corner lies.

The company Gates proM LLC presents its solutions for the construction of gates from sandwich panels. This is a special design solution for this type of industrial door. The dimensions of such structures can exceed 6-7 meters, which makes insulated gates an ideal solution for industrial hangars, production facilities, workshops.

Such gate structures usually have a thickness of the sandwich in the leaf of the sash from 50mm to 120mm, which allows you to maintain the set temperature inside the room.

The gate is a structural frame made of a massive corner - which is a load-bearing and fetters the building opening of the room and the sash, which consists of a smaller corner. Sandwich panels insulated with mineral wool are inserted into the sash.

Our company manufactures gates from sandwich panels in series, with the help of drawings developed by professional engineers and complies with all GOSTs and SNiPs. All assembly and installation work is carried out on a turnkey basis, or delivery is carried out without installation according to your dimensions and requirements. Industrial swing gates are manufactured in-house. Oversized large gates are assembled in parts in the workshop, transported to your site, and then our field teams of installers carry out the final assembly of the gates.

Our clients are about 100 industrial enterprises of the Ural region, which constantly use our solutions and services. Sandwich doors are durable thanks to a strong and well thought-out frame. Our gates are practical, reliable and durable, and in case of any unforeseen circumstances (for example, a hit by a car), quite maintainable. You don't have to buy a new gate. Simple repairs can be done.

This type of door has a number of advantages over sectional doors:

  1. The price is much cheaper than sectional ones in any design.
  2. The door dimensions can be significantly larger than the maximum dimensions of the sectional door.
  3. Reliability - will serve for many years.
  4. Maintainability. Sectional doors can be repaired, but in some cases, repair costs may not be much lower than the cost of new doors. This makes our industrial doors stand out in front of overhead doors.

The enterprise "Vorota proM" LLC guarantees the trouble-free operation of such structures and does not give a guarantee in words, which is certainly indicated in the contract.

If you are building a garage in the courtyard of a house or in another area where there are no outsiders, then it makes no sense to build a capital gate from sheet steel. It is much wiser to make garage swing gates from corrugated board, since they are easier to construct and weigh much less. I will tell you how to make a structure on your own with a minimum investment of time and effort.

Description of the workflow

As for the work, it can be broken down into several stages in order to understand the process as best as possible. It is important to do everything in order, then you will not have any difficulties in making the gate.

Preparatory stage

First you need to carry out preparatory work, they include several important activities:

  • It is necessary to determine the optimal dimensions of the opening... If you are building a garage, the distance on the sides of the car should be at least 30 cm, in the standard version it is 200-210 cm, and for a minibus you need a higher gate - about 250 cm.If the building has already been erected, then you need to accurately measure in order to determine the size of the gate that you will make;

  • Then you need to make a design drawing, this is very important for further work. If you have a sketch at hand, then you can accurately calculate the required amount of materials. In addition, you will clearly understand the end result, which will greatly simplify the workflow and allow you to clearly understand what needs to be done at a particular point in time;

  • If you decide to make a metal swing garage door with a wicket, then you will have to make the frame much stronger and reinforce it with longitudinal and transverse struts. Personally, I have never made such an option from corrugated board, but I think that the work will not be more difficult than in the case of ordinary sheet metal.

Profile tube for the frame For the frame, it is better to take a strong pipe with a section of 50x50 or 60x60 mm, these options will ensure reliability and will not deform even under high loads. The required amount is calculated in running meters, many sellers can even cut the material into pieces of the desired size, which is very convenient
Sash profile pipe For the frame of the sashes, it is best, in my opinion, to use a 40x20 mm pipe, and for the lintels responsible for rigidity, the best solution would be 60x40 or 40x40. The quantity is again calculated in linear meters.
Profiled sheathing for gates This material can have a wide variety of colors and textures, which allows you to design a garage door in a single style with the general environment. As for quality, choose a material with a thickness of at least 0.5, without any damage to the surface. Any scratch is a potential source of corrosion in the future, remember this
Loops and loops It is impossible to imagine a good gate without strong hinges, which provide a clear position of the structure and make it easy to open and close the sashes. It is better to choose options with bearings or at least a ball, simple products are not the best solution. As for the upper and lower constipation, you can buy a ready-made version, it is much easier than doing them yourself

Important!
When choosing a corrugated board, pay attention to the condition of the protective film, if it is damaged, then most likely the metal is scratched.
This is the easiest way to check the surface for damage.

Of course, it is unlikely that it will be possible to carry out work without a specific tool, let's figure out what should be at hand:

  • Welding machine - an industrial version is not needed, a compact version for 220 volts is enough. Naturally, there should be electrodes 3 mm thick, this is quite enough for welding a profile pipe. If you do not have the skills to work with welding, then it is better to involve a specialist or a friend, if there is one, practicing on the gate is not the best option;
  • Nowadays, almost no work with metal is complete without an angle grinder or, as it is popularly called, a grinder. There should be at least several cutting wheels corresponding in diameter and one grinding disc to it, with which you quickly and easily align the welds;

Important!
Never use a grinder without a protective casing, and during work, be sure to use protective glasses and gloves made of thick leather or textiles, so you will be as safe as possible.

  • For measurements, you need a tape measure, for accurate marking - a square and a special felt-tip pen, with which you can make clear, well-visible marks on the metal. To control the position of the structure, there should also be a building level at hand;
  • For cutting a profiled sheet, in no case use a grinder, this is the worst option, since the metal overheats and begins to rust over time along the cutting line. It is better to purchase ordinary metal scissors, with which the work can be done quickly and efficiently;

  • The sheet will be attached to the frame with aluminum rivets, so you need to purchase a special gun as well. Choose the durable option with massive handles, cheap riveters bend after hundreds of connections, trust my experience.

Working stage

Now let's figure out how to assemble a swing gate for a garage with our own hands from all the components:

  • First of all, you need to cut off pieces of a profiled pipe for the frame of the structure, the elements can be even, then you will need to weld their joints, or they can be cut off at an angle of 45 degrees, this option is somewhat stronger, but also much more difficult to implement. For inexperienced craftsmen, it is better to choose the first method, do not forget to subtract the thickness of the two side racks from the length of the crossbeam, because it will be located between them;

Important!
In a gate made of a profiled pipe with a sheathing of corrugated board, there is no need to make a double box as in the sheet metal version, since the weight of the structure is small and the loads on the walls will be small.

  • All elements are laid out on a flat surface, it is important to ensure the ideal geometry of the structure, therefore, treat this part of the work with all responsibility and prepare a place for the frame. You can adjust the position of the elements by placing chips and other improvised items under them;

  • Further, the structure is welded with continuous seams, it is important to qualitatively connect the elements, ensuring maximum reliability of the finished box. Do not remove the finished structure anywhere, it will be needed for further work;
  • Then the metal is cut for the frames of the sash, after which it is necessary to lay it out on the surface and them, and we will do it competently: we will lay out the structure inside the box, with the help of chips the same gaps are made between the elements, after which you can grab the elements by spot welding so that they can be reached;

  • After all the elements are securely welded (do not forget about the jumpers on the gate leaves), you need to carefully clean all the seams with a grinder, this will ensure a better fit of the corrugated board to the frame and will ensure the best opening and closing of the gate;

  • The finished elements are again neatly laid out, after which it is necessary to set the hinges, it is important to arrange them as evenly as possible. After that, the elements are grabbed, the structure can be disassembled for convenience and the hinges can be welded securely, they must hold very securely, because they will bear the main load;

  • Individual parts of the structure are painted to protect them from corrosion, this must be done before sheathing with corrugated board and installation, so that you can process the elements from all sides. For work, paint with primer is suitable, which perfectly protects the metal from rust and does not require special surface preparation;

  • Sheathing the sashes with a profiled sheet begins with cutting the material to the size you need, if you bought pieces of the required configuration, this greatly simplifies the process. Then you need to put the frame and set the sheet as it will be attached, after which you need to drill holes for rivets, the diameter depends on what kind of fasteners will be used. It is best to use a rivet with a diameter of 4 mm, and a 4.2 mm drill is used for it;

Advice!
You can use ordinary steel-colored rivets, or you can find colored options, they are much more expensive than standard rivets, but they are almost invisible on the surface.

  • The fastening of the profiled sheet with rivets is quick and easy using a rivet gun. You can easily figure out the process by reading the instructions on the packaging of the tool.

As for the installation, I described it in detail in one of the reviews, here I will tell you only the main stages:

  • Hammering mortgages into the wall;
  • Exposing the frame using a level;
  • Welding the box to the mortgages;
  • Hanging the leaves and checking the opening and closing of the leaves.

If done correctly, the structure will last for decades, and the only repair that may be required is painting the metal parts to protect against corrosion.

Another point that needs to be touched on is the installation of automation. If you subsequently or immediately install the drives for opening outward, then a stiffener must be added to the frame at the place where the brackets are installed. It is important to do this in advance, because it is very problematic to weld the profiled pipe to the finished product, and the profiled sheet will overheat and paint may come off it.

In conclusion, I would like to note that the price of the gate that you assemble on your own will be at least twice, or even the second, lower, since this kind of work is more expensive than the materials used.

Such gates are suitable both for buildings and structures made of foam blocks, and for garages made of sandwich panels, since their weight is small and the load on the supporting structures will be minimal.

Conclusion

I hope that this simple instruction will help you understand the issue of constructing a gate from a professional sheet and you will be able to make a high-quality structure without the involvement of specialists. The video in this article will help you understand the process even better, and if you still have questions, then ask them in the comments under the review.

It is no secret that a car for its owner is not only a means of transportation, but also a sign of status, a favorite hobby and practically a member of the family. And therefore, much attention is paid to the care of his "place of residence", that is, the garage.

In addition, not every car owner can afford to equip a workshop and a box separately, and therefore a garage performs both functions at once.

Car box

The operating conditions of the garage are markedly different from the living quarters. This is due to the characteristics of its main inhabitant - the car.

  • Temperature regime - the car does not tolerate temperature changes well. Staying in a warm room at +20 C, and then moving to frost from -5 C, has an extremely negative effect on the state of the car. Therefore, despite the severe frosts, car owners prefer to keep their cars outside. As a result, the best mode for boxing is a stable temperature of about + 5– + 7 C. Garage doors made of sandwich panels and wall insulation perfectly solve this issue.
  • Fire safety is the second most important requirement, since, as a rule, gasoline, engine oil, parts and equipment are stored in the box, which all together pose a great fire hazard. In this regard, the insulation and decoration of the garage must be carried out with non-combustible materials. SIP panels are perfect for this role. In the photo - a garage door made of sandwich panels.

Classification of garage doors

Since the device of the boxes can differ significantly from each other - in terms of volume, type of extension, placement, and so on, there are many ways of closing the latter. According to the opening method, they are classified in this way.

  • Swinging is the most popular classic two-leaf design. The reason for the prevalence is simple: any beginner who has the skills to work with a welding machine can make them with his own hands according to a drawing. They are made, as a rule, of steel, since they must have good mechanical strength and resist burglary, but sandwich panels, aluminum, wood can also be used.

  • Sliding - the door leaf moves to the side, like a wardrobe. Quite a difficult solution to do it yourself, so it is recommended to purchase this option ready-made. Sliding doors made of sandwich panels will provide not only tight, reliable closing, but also excellent thermal insulation. The photo shows a sample.
  • Sectional - they consist of fragments that, when the sash is opened, are refracted at an angle and rise to the ceiling. Sandwich panels for such a structure are the best option.
  • Lift-and-rotate - are a solid canvas that moves in a vertical position.
  • Roller shutters are a very common solution, as they take up a minimum of space. When open, the sash is rolled up in a box. However, it is almost impossible to insulate such a structure.

Characteristics of sandwich panels

The product is a composition of a layer of insulation and two layers of facing material and has several important advantages, which makes it possible to recommend it for covering swing or sliding doors.

For garage doors, slabs are used, where mineral wool is used as a filler - basalt or glass, and galvanized painted steel acts as the outer layers.

  • Thermal insulation - for a garage, it is not so much a high temperature that is important, but its stable value, that is, independence from external weather conditions. The thermal insulation properties of mineral wool, at its affordable cost, are very high.
  • Fire safety - mineral wool is distinguished by another extremely important quality for a garage - non-combustibility. It is recommended to make doors made of sandwich panels using glass wool, as it is resistant to moisture and has a higher density.

Expanded polystyrene and polyurethane foam are also excellent heat insulators, you should choose only special grades - self-extinguishing. The rest of their modifications are flammable and release toxic substances during combustion.

  • Strength - SIP panels by themselves, even with a steel outer layer, cannot provide a high level of security: the steel thickness does not exceed 0.8 mm. Therefore, if there is a danger of burglary, then it is advisable to strengthen the doors.

Hinged gates made of sandwich panels: assembly

For manufacturing, you need a galvanized steel profile, a sandwich panel with a steel coating, a grinder, a welding machine, steel corners - it is not necessary, but with their help it is much easier to form a right angle, and a drawing with the indicated dimensions. Installation is available for do-it-yourself. In the photo - the working moment of the assembly.

  1. The profile is cut according to the dimensions of the future swing gates.
  2. The frame is welded from the 60 * 30 profile, the welding seams are cleaned.
  3. The frame is made according to the drawing for both sashes separately. For the sash frame, a 60 * 30 profile is used, for internal guides - 40 * 20. It is imperative to make sure that the sash is inserted into the frame with the required opening clearance.
  4. The plate is fixed on the frame with long self-tapping screws.
  5. The hinges are welded and the gate is installed. It is recommended to remove the packing material from the panels only after completion of the installation.

In the video, the installation process for swing gates made of sandwich panels is presented in more detail.

Today the choice of gates is simply huge, so everyone can afford to install any design. Even automatic gates today are not too expensive, so a high-quality and reliable design will not hit your pocket hard.

Despite the appearance of new types of gates, swing gates do not lose their popularity and relevance. Their main advantage is simplicity and ease of mounting. Therefore, you can easily install them yourself.

Swing gates today can be installed from various materials. It all depends on desire and on material capabilities.

Recently, it has become popular to make swing gates from sandwich panels. When installing them, you need to be careful about each process. This will make it possible to easily and quickly build this structure with your own hands. So, the process of installing swing gates consists of the following steps.

Manufacturing and installation of bearing pillars

To do this, you need to have a special metal pipe with a section of 10x10 cm. You will also need a wooden beam and concrete. All these materials must be concreted with high quality to a depth of more than one meter. This is actually a very simple option. After all, if, for example, you take brick pillars, you will have to install the foundation, concreting and reinforcing it, and only then fix the racks.

This is a rather complicated process, it is difficult to do without special knowledge in the field of construction. For amateurs, the first option is also perfect, moreover, it is not inferior in quality and years of service to brick pillars.

Cleaning and preparation of pipes for fastening the door leaf

It should be noted that the concrete must be given about a week in order for it to set and dry properly. During this period, it is important to prepare profiled pipes, to rid them of corrosion traces and deposits. To do this, it is enough to use an ordinary grinder. After these procedures, it is required to degrease the pipes with a special solvent and apply a protective layer of anti-corrosion.

Welding the gate frame

When the concrete is dry, you can start welding. To do this, you need to use a profile pipe 60x30x2 mm, to which an inner pipe with dimensions of 40x20x2 mm is then welded. It should be remembered that if sandwich panels are planned on both sides, then the pipe is located in the middle.

And if only one-sided sewing is needed, then the pipe must be fastened closer to the edge. It is also important that you only need to weld the pipe with small sticks of 2 cm and an indentation of 30 cm. When the frame is ready, you need to grind it a little, and then apply the last layer of primer to the canvas. You can also paint the panels at this stage with a special paint in the desired color.

Sewing up with sandwich panels

After the paint has dried, you can already start sewing the canvas. Please note that special steel-coated panels are used for these doors. Inside, such slabs are composed of basalt or glass mineral wool. Such a filler provides thermal insulation, which is especially important when installing swing gates for a garage.

They are screwed to the frame using ordinary self-tapping screws. Here you can show all your imagination and do everything in an unusual and original way. The main thing to remember is that the film must be removed from the sandwich panels after their installation.

Thus, it is quite simple to make a swing gate yourself. To do this, you must have a basic knowledge of construction and have all the necessary consumables at hand. The swing gates of their sandwich panels will delight the eye for many years.

Despite the constant improvement of gate designs, the emergence of new materials for their manufacture and decoration, swing systems do not lose their popularity among consumers. This is due to the convenience of their use, ease of installation. To diversify the entrance group, to favorably distinguish it among the neighbors, swing gates made of sandwich panels will allow.

They are made from insulation (glass, mineral or basalt wool, expanded polystyrene, polyurethane foam), which is enclosed between two layers of finishing material (painted galvanized steel).

This design resembles a sandwich, hence the name of the material. Its advantages are:

  • thermal insulation properties. The thickness of the slab is about 45 mm, insulation is sewn inside it. This is especially important when arranging a garage entrance, where it is necessary to create favorable temperature conditions for storing vehicles;
  • noise absorption. Due to its structure, the product muffles sounds coming from the street;
  • light weight, which facilitates transportation, installation of products;
  • resistance to moisture, fire. Panel fillers do not absorb water, do not corrode, have a self-extinguishing effect;
  • long service life, which is 15 years;
  • a wide range of colors, allowing you to choose a product that fits perfectly into the design of the site. The canvases and profiles are available in various colors - both monochromatic and imitating wood.

Please note: the standard used for the manufacture of metal plates is 8 mm thick steel, which does not provide them with reliable protection against burglary. If necessary, the input group must be reinforced additionally.

Producers and varieties

There are many companies releasing the material. They offer both ready-to-install structures and accessories. Dorhan are popular among consumers. They are characterized by a wide range of colors, the possibility of surface-mounted or built-in mounting, connection of automation.

According to the peculiarities of use, entrance groups are distinguished from this material:

  • private use. They are installed in garages, as an entrance structure to the site;
  • industrial use. Industrial gates are installed in factories, industrial facilities. Large-sized transport often passes through them, therefore, these structures are reinforced with a metal corner around the entire perimeter.

Step by step manufacturing

Simple structure allows you to make this product yourself. The main thing is to draw up a drawing correctly. It should indicate the location of the pillars, the size of the canvases, the placement of the hinges, whether there will be a structure with or without a wicket.

Attention: do not forget to provide a small gap between the leaves and posts (about 2 cm). It is necessary for reinsurance in case of gate shrinkage. It is also recommended to maintain a 10 cm distance from the ground to the lower edge of the canvases. This will allow the doors to open freely in snowfall.

To do this, in order to build a hinged structure from sandwich panels with your own hands, you will need:

  • metal plates with insulation and steel coating;
  • galvanized steel profile;
  • with a section of 100x100 / 60x60 mm for pillars, 80x40 / 60x40 mm, 60x30 / 40x20 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm to form the frame of the structure;
  • wooden props;
  • set for welding;
  • Bulgarian;
  • concrete;
  • shovel, level, tape measure.

Installation of supports

On both sides of the opening, holes are dug with a depth of at least 1 m.A dense crushed stone-sand cushion is formed at their bottom. Pillars are inserted into the holes, leveling them, secured with props and poured with concrete.

Remember: for a high-quality "setting" of concrete, you need to wait a week and a half.

Formation of the gate frame

While the concrete is cooling, you can prepare metal parts for installation. To do this, they are pre-cleaned with a grinder from rust, plaque, degreased and covered with an anti-corrosion compound.

The frame for the doors made of sandwich panels is a double frame. Its outer part is welded from a professional pipe with a section of 80x40 / 60x40 mm. It is cut into pieces of the required size. All elements are laid out on a flat surface, forming a frame according to the drawing, and tacked together using spot welding. This will eliminate any inaccuracies when checking the frame for evenness. After that, continuous seams are made.

The inner frame is formed from a professional pipe with a section of 60x30 / 40x20 mm. It is welded in the middle of the outer.

Note: the double frame increases the rigidity of the swing gates and increases their resistance to wind loads.

The finished frame is sanded, degreased and primed. After the coating has dried, it is sheathed with metal plates, which are attached to the frame with special self-tapping screws.

Advice: It is recommended to remove the protective film from Doorhan panels after completion of the installation of the structure. This will keep the product presentable.

A gate made of sandwich panels is a modern, practical and aesthetic way of decorating an entrance group. The simplicity of the design allows you to easily make it yourself, and its reliability allows you to use the product for more than a dozen years.
