We sheathe the room with clapboard with our own hands. Do-it-yourself clapboard wall clapboard: fashion for natural materials

After the boom of depersonalized European-quality repairs with an abundance of plastic materials, wall decoration with clapboard - a thin wood sheathing board - is returning to fashion. The name was assigned to this finishing material, when passenger cars were sheathed with small planks.

Natural lining made of simple and noble tree species can be used as a finishing material in rooms for various purposes and in various interior styles.

It maintains a good level of humidity in the room: it absorbs excess moisture, and evaporates in a dry environment. A non-professional can also cope with cladding, having knowledge of finishing technology.

How to sheathe walls with clapboard

If the walls are even, clapboard cladding can be done immediately on the wall. But builders recommend mounting on a pre-installed frame.

Mounting the lining on the lathing improves the quality of fastening and allows you to lay an additional layer of material under the lathing, which has heat and sound insulation properties.

Wall cladding with clapboard is made in several ways:

  • horizontal, often the only possible;
  • vertical, recommended for finishing the ceiling surface;
  • diagonal, capable of changing the space of the room;
  • mixed, when the boards are laid out in patterns and placed in different directions.

The choice of option depends on the specific purpose of the room, its size and interior style.

Materials for work

Before sheathe the walls with clapboard, it is necessary to purchase the material itself, taking into account design preferences and varieties, wood species. To avoid shortages, boards should be purchased with a 10% margin. It is manufactured with various types of profiles:

In addition to a high-quality board, you will need construction devices, as well as tools:

  1. wooden beams;
  2. fasteners: dowels, screws, nails, clamps
  3. surface treatment products;
  4. building level or plumb line;
  5. length measuring tape;
  1. fishing line;
  2. saw;
  3. hatchet;
  4. wedges;
  5. screwdriver;
  6. pencil.

In order to properly sheathe a wall in a house with clapboard, you need to take care of the availability of a tool, preferably a professional one, to check its readiness for work. Calculate, purchase fasteners and hardware.

Pros and cons of clapboard

Despite the presence of a huge assortment of modern materials, such as plastic, drywall, various types of particle boards, wood is not inferior to its positions, it remains a highly demanded material. Its popularity is based on quality characteristics:

  • the uniqueness of the wood pattern;
  • environmental safety;
  • the ability to mitigate temperature changes;
  • regulation of humidity;
  • wonderful woody aroma;
  • ease of installation.

The profile is made from various types of wood: pine, spruce, birch, larch, oak, ash, other tree species, practically without exception. Considering the characteristics of the type of wood, the advantages can be obtained and the disadvantages of the material can be avoided:

  1. Spruce it is not necessary to sheathe the nursery and the kitchen due to the high release of resinous substances. It is not necessary to sheathe the rooms facing the north side, since it darkens under the influence of the sun.
  2. Pine it is necessary to purchase one made of mast pines, felled in winter, then it will last a long time, will not emit tar, but will heal the air with bactericidal substances.
  3. Oak gives scope for design thought and is able to muffle sounds, but it is not recommended to use it in rooms intended for sleep due to its heavy spirit.
  4. Larch board refined, persistent, able to rid the house of all insects, makes breathing in the room even and deep.
  5. Birch suitable for finishing a dry house, as it is susceptible to fungal diseases.
  6. Linden, alder and aspen suitable only for finishing baths, utility rooms due to their low strength.

Disadvantages that are difficult to correct include:

  • high price;
  • the need for proper care.

How to sheathe walls if you place the lining vertically

The vertical installation method is used in rooms with high humidity or in unheated rooms with the possibility of condensation due to temperature changes, such as a hallway or a veranda.

The procedure is not very complicated:

  1. Boards are placed from a corner located at a distance.
  2. The first element is set using a plumb line and fixed.
  3. The following elements are inserted into the groove and secured in the chosen way.
  4. The reliability of the joint is monitored.

Horizontal cladding

The horizontal sheathing scheme is used more often, since the installation is easier, and the result is more beautiful. An indispensable condition for competent horizontal sheathing is laying with the ridges up.

The correct location allows you to get rid of micro-reservoirs in which water will collect, leading to rotting of the material. Observing the technology, the side of the groove of the lower board must be cut off so that it is more securely fixed and a reservoir for trapping moisture does not form.

You can collect boards both from bottom to top and from top to bottom - this does not affect the final result. But the adaptation of the tree to future conditions is necessary, so the material must be placed in the room a day before installation.

Work order:

  1. Preparing the walls.
  2. Wireframe creation.
  3. Installation of insulation and vapor barrier.
  4. Fixing the boards.
  5. Corner decoration.

How to handle the material

Pre-processed is significantly more expensive than untreated. Therefore, in order to save money, it is more rational to buy an unprocessed one and prepare it yourself for fastening. Necessary:

  1. Degrease boards made of softwood with acetone and grease with an antiseptic, and then moisten with water and dry.
  2. Treat each board with a mixture for bleaching the wood surface, consisting of 10% oxalic acid solution and 30% hydrogen peroxide, and after five minutes rinse with water.
  3. Fill the slightest damage and defects with a special wood compound, adding a tint pigment.
  4. Saturate with tinting compounds or stain to give a noble color.

Creation of the lathing

The lathing allows you to create ventilated channels and get rid of dampness and rot. The structure is easy to make yourself. You will need wooden slats that will prevent mechanical vibrations of the lining, in contrast to metal profiles that do not have the property of damping.

  • thickness - 20-40 mm;
  • width - 30-60 mm.

The lathing should be in the same plane and form a perfectly flat surface, all structural details should be firmly and securely fixed.

How to place the battens correctly?

The principle of placing the battens - the slats should be placed perpendicular to the boards. There must be beams located along the edge, so the ends of the lining should not be in a loose position. When choosing the location of the boards in a diagonal way, the sheathing should have a continuous frame. The distance between the slats is equal to the width of the profile multiplied by 4, that is, 50-60 cm.

The slats for horizontal laying are installed strictly vertically using a plumb line. Nails or self-tapping screws are suitable for fastening.

Then, in the opposite corner, another rail is installed in the same way and the fishing line is stretched between them. In the direction of the fishing line, all elements of the crate are installed.

If the walls are uneven, then pegs or wood substrates must be used to fix the beams.

Mounting methods

You can fix the lining to a wall or crate in different ways, each of which has both pros and cons, using:

  • kleimers;
  • nails;
  • stapler;
  • screws with decorative caps.

How to fix the lining with clamps

Cleamers - special fasteners in the form of a bracket, mounted with nails or self-tapping screws, allow you to fix the material without destroying its integrity.

The kleimer hook fixes the board firmly, but itself remains completely hidden. The result is a flawless, perfect surface.

With the help of this type of hardware, the installation of the lining is very fast. To calculate the number of cleats, you need to proceed from the fact that two square meters of lining will require twenty fasteners.

The installation of the lining in the horizontal version with the help of clamps is as follows:

  1. Fix the starter board to the crate from bottom to top.
  2. Insert the hook of the fastener into the groove and screw it with a self-tapping screw to the lathing bar.
  3. Put the next board with the groove on the tenon, fixing with clamps.
  4. Cut the top plank that completes the row and nail it to the sheathing.
  5. Hide the places where nails are driven in with a decorative corner or cover with putty.

The installation of the lining in the vertical direction is similar. An important difference is that every 10 panels it is necessary to check the accuracy of the installation with a plumb line.

Using a staple gun

When laying boards from top to bottom, it is effective to use a special stapler that fixes the boards to the crate with staples. Installation in this case is fast, safe and reliable enough.

Decorative screws

In certain cases, it is possible to sheathe the wall with clapboard using screws or nails with decorative caps. It is better to hammer them with a wooden hammer so as not to damage the decorative element.

Nails and screws

The simplest mounting option is through, in which self-tapping screws, nails are screwed in or driven into the front of the lining to the crate. But this method is not the most decorative.

With the through method, the markings are preliminarily made so that the fasteners are on the same line. The fasteners must be drowned in the wood, for this it is better to drill a hole for the head in advance. As a result, there will be visible holes on the boards that violate the integrity of the material, although they can be covered with special plugs or putty. This method is acceptable in technical rooms, when using inexpensive lining for painting.

Painting lining

Painting is optional, you can leave the profile as it was. But over time, in a humid room, it acquires a bluish tint, and in the sun it is dark gray. Sometimes you just want to change the color of the room to a brighter one or achieve an even wood color.

If there is a need to change the color of the lining, take for painting with products developed to protect the tree:

  • protective compounds to prevent exposure to sunlight, moisture and fading;
  • tonics and stains that do not hide the texture of the wood, but only give a shade, while maintaining the property of permeability;
  • modern water-based varnishes: matte, semi-matte and glossy, capable of protecting from dirt and adding brightness;
  • paints that hide the wood structure and create a dense impervious film;
  • oils, the effect of which is similar to varnish, but without a bright shine;
  • wax compositions that allow you to delicately protect and preserve the properties of the wood.

Depending on the purpose: to protect, tint or brighten, you can choose a suitable composition.

Final activities: material handling

The wall, which was sheathed with a board, must be brought to a finishing condition. This requires:

  1. sand with 125-160 grit sandpaper;
  2. prime;
  3. go through the sandpaper again, with a grain size of 200-250;
  4. use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust particles after sanding;
  5. cover with a layer of varnish;
  6. wait until it dries completely;
  7. lacquer again.

Such processing will strengthen the texture of the wood, reduce the fire hazard, but will not create a film that prevents the sheathing from breathing.

The full cost of the installation of the lining

The cost of sheathing a surface area of one square meter ranges from 600 to 800 rubles, taking into account what happens without the involvement of builders. The calculation includes the cost of materials at an average price:

  • - lining - 400 rubles;
  • - stain, varnish, antiseptic - 150 rubles; VKontakte

Finishing sheets are made from edged boards. The workpiece is planed from both sides, and then protrusions and grooves of the “thorn-groove” type are milled at the ends for articulation with adjacent boards. The processing of the board ends after obtaining the correct geometric shape. Due to the special design of the joining surfaces, installation work is significantly reduced in price, and the wall looks monolithic. The scope of the lining is huge, with its help they trim the outer and inner walls of cottages, gazebos, balconies, baths, etc.

Manufacturers of wooden wall paneling have developed several options for the classification of finishing material. The most important criteria by which the lining is distinguished are the profile of the canvas, its dimensions, and the type of wood.

Classification of wall lining by type of profile

This parameter divides the lining into domestic and "euro lining". In the manufacture of goods, domestic and foreign companies adhere to the requirements of different standards, so the boards differ even visually.

The lining of domestic manufacturers is manufactured in accordance with GOST 8242-88. According to the standard, the thickness of the sheets can be from 12 to 25 mm, the length is up to 6000 mm, the width is 150 mm, the length of the spike is 4-6 mm.

Domestic products are produced with different profiles, which differ in the section of the boards and the size of the spikes and grooves:

  • The basic profile for domestic products is the "Standard" profile. The section of the board resembles a trapezoid, with the edges cut at an angle of 30 degrees.
  • The “Calm” profile is distinguished by rounded corners.
  • The Europrofile profile has a thickened spike, which increases the strength of the connection.
  • Lining-American in cross-section of complex geometry, impregnated with a special compound and is intended for cladding external walls. The main difference from other models is that it is mounted with an overlap and only horizontally.
  • The block house is made in the form of a round timber, has a convex profile, but the joints are similar to standard profiles.
European manufacturers are subject to the DIN 68126 standard, which has more stringent product requirements:
  1. Boards can be produced only in certain sizes: thickness - 13, 16, 19, mm, width - 80, 100, 110, 120 mm, length - up to 6000 mm.
  2. The DIN 68126 standard strictly regulates the moisture content of wood (14-16%) in the manufacture of products.
  3. The presence of chips, notches, surface deformations means rejects.
  4. The length of the groove in the Euro lining is 8 mm, it is slightly larger than the protrusion of the neighboring board. The increased gap prevents the skin from cracking when the products are deformed.
  5. Air vents are provided on the rough side of the Euro lining to prevent the formation of condensation and ventilate the space behind the cladding.
  6. The front side is designed in two ways: "Standard" and "Soft line". Products in the latter version are made with rounded versions.

Classification of lining for wall decoration by type of wood

The characteristic connects the quality of the lining with the properties of lumber. Boards are divided into 4 classes:
  • Lining "Extra" is made of wood without any flaws, there are no core elements in the structure.
  • Lining of class "A" is also made from lumber without a core. On finished samples, minor defects are allowed: at a length of 1.5 m there may be one knot (on the front side), two blind cracks, two resin pockets.
  • The cloth of class "B" and "C" allows the presence of defects of various types.
Most cracks and nicks on the canvas can be masked with putty or putty, so objectively evaluate the quality of the product.

Classification of lining for walls by type of wood

A wide range of tree species from which blanks are cut for lining. The choice of lumber is made according to the criterion "price-quality". The characteristics of the most popular types of lining from different tree species are given below.

Pine lining is considered the most purchased material for interior decoration due to its ease of wood processing and low price. Drawing on pine boards - diffuse, has a relaxing effect on the eyes. Scandinavian pine products are especially appreciated. Planks made of it are without knots, have a pink tint, annual rings of equal thickness and look very beautiful on the wall. It is recommended to use pine products at temperatures from -5 to +30 degrees and low humidity.

The larch panel belongs to the elite finishing materials due to its special strength. The wood does not rot, does not warp, is not afraid of pests, and retains an attractive appearance for a long time. Samples from larch are cheaper than products from other elite materials. The low price of larch is explained by the large number of trees of this species in Russia.

Oak lining belongs to the elite samples. Wall cladding made of this material is durable, does not rot for a long time. The high cost of the material pays off with the reliability and durability of the coating.

Linden wood is soft, well processed. Samples made from this material are light, strong, practically free of knots. Linden in the house gives off a pleasant aroma, has a healing effect. Does not swell in damp rooms. The lining of white linden is distinguished by its purest white color; stains are not visible on the surface of the battens. Used to decorate the walls of the sauna.

Black alder lumber is soft, easy to process and has a low density. They tolerate moisture well. The color of the alder panel is coffee with marble veins that add sophistication to the wall. The coating does not warp over time, does not change color. The boards are lightweight and comfortable to work with. Alder cloth can be used in unheated rooms (in summer cottages, in attics), as well as for finishing the steam rooms of a bath.

Advantages and disadvantages of wall lining

The number of objective advantages of the lining is huge: this includes the natural coating material, ease of installation of panels and many other characteristics. Due to its numerous positive properties, lining successfully competes with artificial decorative materials:
  1. Lining is considered the cheapest facing material made from natural raw materials.
  2. The presence of special grooves significantly reduces finishing work. The tongue-and-groove connection creates a dust and dirt barrier.
  3. After work, the wall looks like a monolithic structure of wood without visible gaps.
  4. Wooden lining visually aligns the walls.
  5. Wood has the ability to create a special indoor climate due to its ability to absorb and release moisture.
  6. The use of lining reduces the cost of work. Other cladding options associated with leveling surfaces in one plane and finishing are more expensive.
  7. The product is distinguished by its strength and durability, it serves for a long time without replacement or repair. If necessary, the replacement of individual elements is carried out very quickly.
  8. Sound and heat insulation materials can be placed between the panels and the room wall.
  9. The texture of the material allows you to combine it with any style of room decoration.
Users should also be aware of the weaknesses of the product, especially in the case of clapboard wall cladding with their own hands: the tree burns well, so do not neglect the fire safety rules; remember to cover the boards with water repellent. You should also protect the material from insects and fungus.

Clapboard wall cladding technology

Wall cladding with clapboard is performed in several stages. After removing the protruding elements on the wall from the surface, the base is assembled to which the panels will be attached, then the condition of the boards is checked and defects are eliminated. The last step is to fix the material on the wall. More details about the preliminary and basic work during installation are written below.

Preparatory work before finishing the walls with clapboard

When buying a product, pay attention to the points that can reduce the life of the coating: check the storage conditions of the product, the material should be stored in its original original packaging; the warehouse must maintain an acceptable level of humidity; storage of products in direct sunlight and with large temperature drops is not allowed; make sure the products have not expired.

Buy material with a small margin, correctly performed calculations will reduce the number of scraps and save material. The number of sheets to cover depends on the width and length of the original sheet. When calculating, take into account the presence of spikes and grooves on the boards, which reduce the working surface of the blade by 10-12 mm.

As an example, let's determine the number of boards 100 mm wide for wall decoration 2500x6000 mm:

  • The working surface of the blade: 100 - 10 = 90 mm.
  • The number of boards is 6000: 90 = 67 pieces, with a length of 2.5 m.
If you buy domestic products, study the appearance of the product. After manufacturing, the lining is not painted and is not impregnated with protective substances, therefore, before use, the canvas must be subjected to special processing.

The processing method depends on the type of wood, but the list of works for all materials is the same:

  • Coniferous boards are degreased, resin stains are removed from them. The surface of the boards is washed with a 25% acetone solution, and then wiped with a clean cloth soaked in warm water. After the procedure, the samples are well dried.
  • To get the same shade on the surface of the board, it is bleached with hydrogen peroxide and oxalic acid. The concentration of the solution depends on the type of wood.
  • Cracks, chips and other defects on the canvas are sealed with putty or putty. The stores sell ready-made pastes for wood surfaces that imitate the shades of different types of wood.
  • If necessary, mask the modified surfaces with paint carefully selected in color. The paint for the lining can be made independently from titanium or zinc white with the addition of watercolors - the components allow you to select the desired shade with high accuracy.
  • You can also change the shade of the board while maintaining the natural texture. To do this, buy wood paint: stain based on organic solvents, synthetic resins, various stains and stains.

Lathing for fixing the lining on the walls

The technology of wall decoration with clapboard depends on the condition of the base wall. If the surface is flawless and located in a vertical plane, you can think about gluing the sheets.

In most cases, the surfaces require leveling, so an even base is made in advance from the slats. Solid wood slats with a cross section of at least 20x40 mm are suitable for the frame, the recommended size is 30x60 mm. The bars are easy to fix on the wall, but difficult to align, so metal plasterboard profiles are often used instead of slats. The design of metal profiles and the methods of their fastening are specially designed for leveling surfaces, which speeds up the installation of the frame.

When creating the lathing, follow these recommendations:

  1. The slats should be placed vertically or horizontally on the wall, but always perpendicular to the boards.
  2. The distance between the base profiles is no more than 50 cm.
  3. In wooden houses, leave a margin of 2-3 cm between the vertical slats of the frame, the floor and the ceiling. This is due to the constant shrinkage of wooden buildings.
  4. The crate is attached to a wooden wall with self-tapping screws, to a concrete and brick wall - with dowels.
  5. The outer surfaces of the frame must be in the same vertical plane. They control verticality with a plumb line, flatness - with the help of cords stretched between the extreme boards.
  6. After alignment, the gaps behind the profiles are filled with wooden spacers, which are made on site.
It is convenient to install insulation between the profiles of the battens, for example, Rockwwool or Ursa boards. After filling the lathing cells with an insulator, a waterproof film is laid on top. To prevent fungus or mold from forming on the inner surfaces of the boards, it is recommended to introduce forced ventilation of the gaps

How to fix the lining on the walls

Before sheathing, bring the lining into the room, lay the samples on the floor and leave for two days. The boards will be "acclimatized" and will not deform after installation. Please note that finishing work is allowed to be carried out at a positive temperature and humidity less than 60%. Before attaching the lining to the wall, decide on the method of fixing the sheets.

The simplest method of fixing the boards is with nails or self-tapping screws through the canvas into the crate. At first, it is recommended to make holes in the boards with a depth of about 10 mm for fasteners, otherwise the board may burst. The fastener heads must be sunk into the wood. After fixing all the boards, fill the remaining holes above the heads with putty or wooden plugs, followed by flush grinding.

For fastening, you can use nails with heads decorated in the color of the lining. Also on sale you can find hatless nails that are hammered in at an angle of 70-80 degrees.

Stapling is used when laying from the ceiling downwards, in this case the stapler is more convenient than a hammer. The bracket slides into the tenon at a 45-degree angle, allowing you to install the next board without any problems.

Secret fastening with nails is similar to the previous method of fastening, only nails are used instead of staples. The heads of the screws are sunk into the wood with a doboiler, and they are completely invisible.

Claymers are used when attaching thin euro lining and to create decorative finishes. They are staples made of sheet steel, which are attached to the seamy side of the sheet. The first canvas is attached to the crate with self-tapping screws, which are then masked with dowels. The next board with cleats is installed in a regular place on the wall, then the cleats are attached to the base with self-tapping screws or a stapler.

Most often, the board is mounted horizontally on the wall. The first sheet is installed at the bottom of the ceiling with a spike upwards, fixation with fasteners starts from the corner farthest from the entrance doors. Carefully insert the canvas in the vertical and horizontal planes; the quality of the finish of the entire wall depends on the first sample.

Fastening the board with the groove down is important for cladding the outer walls, so rain water will not stagnate in the cavity of the board. The next board is installed with a groove on a spike, pressed along the edges and in the middle to the first sample with wooden wedges and fixed in this position.

Often the boards are arranged in a herringbone pattern, offset by 50 cm in the horizontal plane, or staggered. The latest mounting options allow you to use small pieces of boards from 50 to 100 cm, including the rest of the material.

With the vertical arrangement of the lining, the wall decoration starts from the corner. The first rail is carefully set in a vertical plane and fastened with self-tapping screws or on clamps. Subsequent sheets are installed with thorns in the groove of the already fixed canvas, move all the way and are attached to the crate. For vertical sheathing, it is recommended to use wide boards, more than 80 mm. A wall with narrow sheets will "part".

At the end of the work, cover the gaps between the floor, ceiling and clapboard with a decorative plinth, which will not prevent air from entering the panels. The slots in the corners of the room are closed with wooden corner elements.

After mounting the lining on the wall, the sheets are covered with a stain of any shade and varnished. The lacquer coating preserves the texture of the lining and retains its color for a long time.

The construction of any structure is being completed interior decoration... The main criterion for the interior decoration of a house is giving it a well-groomed appearance and efficient operation. One of the most popular types of today is eurolining.

The material is a thin board fixed around the perimeter of the room. Lining has been used for interior decoration for a long time. This type of interior decoration came to us from transport construction, when wooden panels were used for covering wagons.

Material properties

The lining has a number of positive characteristics:

  1. high environmental friendliness of the product;
  2. pleasant appearance;
  3. resistance to high and low temperature extremes;
  4. increased;
  5. lack of temperature coefficient.

The lining is actively used for wall sheathing:

  • wooden houses, dachas, baths,
  • terraces, balconies,
  • as a decoration for rooms,
  • for a bright accent in wooden buildings.

With the right choice of finishing material, the durability of such a finish can reach thirty years.

For craftsmen with experience in home wall cladding, fastening a wide lining is not difficult. The cost per square meter of cladding is extremely low, with the exception of special surface decoration.

The lining is monotonous in appearance, but experienced designers are always ready to give it a universal look and find original wall mounts.

Initially, only wood was used in the construction of houses, but modern trends and craftsmen come up with other materials for the lining. Today, this type of finish is widely used in modern construction and renovation.

This material has rightfully gained its popularity. thanks to its economy. Construction markets and shops are overflowing with a wide assortment of clapboard for interior decoration.

Views

The main types of lining differ in material, from which they are made. Every year new items appear, presented by such materials as:

  1. Aluminum, it is categorically not recommended for interior decoration due to the lack of resistance to high temperatures and unpresentable appearance.
  2. PVC panels- will allow you to save on the purchase of material, but will lose in terms of durability.
  3. MDF- pretty nice material that easily fits into any interior. Under the MDF, the wiring is easily hidden, and cleaning work is performed.

Despite innovative technologies in construction, the traditional choice of many construction companies is still is a tree... Various types of wood are used, the most common are linden, cedar, ash, birch, alder.

Which one is better to choose?

For interior decoration of saunas, it is recommended to purchase hardwood that does not allow moisture to pass through and does not release heat outside the room. with coniferous wood trim will be filled with a pleasant aroma.

There is an opinion about the fragility of the tree and the influence of external factors on it. A few decades ago, one could agree with this opinion, but not today, when stores are overflowing with a huge selection of various wood care products.

When choosing the right wood, it is extremely her class is important:

  • Extra- has no defects and chips, it is considered an ideal option for repair;
  • A- has no core, knots and resin pockets are allowed on it (no more than two);
  • B- material with two knots, two pockets, one spot of contrasting paint and two cracks can be attributed;
  • C- is already less suitable for finishing works, since it has a number of the above disadvantages.

Particularly popular use 2 trim options:

  1. horizontal sheathing - fasteners are made from the ceiling to the floor, which prevents the ingress of debris and moisture;
  2. vertical sheathing is made from the corner, and on the reverse side of the board, the kleimer is placed in the groove, then attached to the crate.

How to sheathe a "block house" with decorative clapboard?

Special attention should be paid for home decoration - "block house"... This finish is suitable for the living room, kitchen, hallway, and will be a great solution for the attic.

An important plus will be that the block-house technique lets the walls breathe and create a pleasant microclimate for the inhabitants of the home. This type of attachment will create improved sound insulation compared to the above methods.

Before performing the work, the calculation of the fittings and the amount of material is made. But an even more important process is to let the freshly purchased material lie down without packaging. about three days in the room where it will be installed.

Preparing the walls

The panels are installed on dry and level walls, so the surface must be free from defects. Walls should be waterproofed with a special film or deep impregnation.

Without this procedure, wood panels may not withstand the increased moisture content, and the work will have to be redone.

Areas with fungal infections on the wall are treated with an antiseptic. It is better to process all the walls with it. After thoroughly impregnating the walls, they will become resistant to the negative effects of fire and mold. Impregnation with a water-repellent composition is required before starting such work.

If you wish, you can install additional materials for thermal and noise-insulating construction. As sound insulation, polystyrene foam or mineral plates are installed.

Vapor barrier film can be purchased with the purchase of cladding material. The work begins with covering the walls with a film, which in the future will serve as a steam insulation.

Frame fabrication

The fabrication of the frame takes place in the following stages:

Wooden panels are heavy, therefore, for high-quality sheathing, you will need to make a reliable frame.

For a frame using the block house technique, a wooden base is suitable. The frame must be made of strips, the distance between which does not exceed 65 cm.

Before installing the frame, you need to outline the places where sockets, switches and other electronics will be located. These marks are needed in order to make cutouts in the cladding before installation.

The bars can be fixed to the wall, either with nails or with mounting strips. After completion of work on the manufacture of the frame, you can start decorating in the block house style with your own hands.

See the video clip for the mounting option for the lathing:

Panel mounting

For accurate measurement, use plumb line, square and level. To calculate how much board will be spent, you need to make simple calculations: divide the total area of the room by the area of one board.

By calculating the area of one board, it is easy to find out how much of the total material will go to cover the entire surface. If there is a shortage of panels, additional clamps to fix the problem.

The fastening of the wooden panels begins on the pre-installed battens. The starting bar is installed from below, with indented up to 1 cm, such a procedure is done to actively ventilate the walls and avoid further deformation of the material. A similar indent is made in the upper part of the wall.

The block house is set only in the horizontal direction. Sometimes craftsmen choose a vertical installation, but this method has a lot of disadvantages.

Fastening to the frame is carried out using self-tapping screws at an angle of 30-45 degrees. A hole is made on the surface of the panel with a thin drill, and then a self-tapping screw is screwed into it.

The screw head should not go deeper than 3 mm.

Further, the panels are gradually installed from bottom to top. When installing the panel, the spike must point upwards. The wood is connected to each other using spikes and grooves. If desired, corner joints are held together with corners.

There are several ways to hide the screw heads:

  1. With the help of the material left over from work.
  2. Corks are formed from the scraps and fixed with PVA glue in the recesses. Uneven spots are smoothed out with sandpaper.

  3. You can use "wood paste" made from PVA glue and sawdust.
  4. The thick composition is poured into the holes. The downside of the method is a possible discrepancy between the color of the composition and the wood.

  5. Special plugs, which can be bought at a hardware store, will easily close irregularities.
  6. Fastened with PVA glue.

For detailed installation of panels, see the video:

Corner decoration

Making corners using the block house technique causes difficulty when trimming yourself.

You can purchase in advance "boats" for finishing the inner corners and elements specially designed for outer corners. The finished skirting boards will be in close contact with the block house only at the top point, as a result of which the cladding will have open slots, and this is unacceptable.

It is much more convenient to use planed timber 5x5... Its installation is carried out before the start of the sheathing. The block house is attached to the bars and the finish will look much smoother and more professional. This method is effective for interior and exterior corners.

The final stage is surface grinding, but such work should be done with caution. One awkward movement can disrupt the structure of the board.

How to neatly make the corners, see this video:

Which coating to choose: paint or varnish?

  • alkyd;
  • acrylic;
  • linseed.

The impregnation will significantly extend the life of the Blockhouse, reduce the occurrence of surface cracks and, most importantly, impart fire-resistant and bioprotective properties to the wood.

In the event that naturalness is an important point, and you want to preserve the appearance of the tree, varnishing will be an alternative to painting. The surface for the varnish must be perfectly clean and free of extraneous irregularities.

To work on the walls, you will need a roller or regular paint brush. Coating is done in several layers, except for the first tonic staining impregnation.

Which of the coverage methods to choose will depend on the desire of the owner of the premises. If he is an adherent of traditional design and wants to preserve the natural look of his walls, he will need a varnish solution.

If the room is planned as a youth room or the walls should become a bright accent, of course, preference should be given.
If the finishing is done at the highest level, the room will look noble and presentable.

The cost of installing the lining

Installing a wooden lining is a laborious process, consisting of many operations: preparing the walls, installing the battens, attaching the material to the walls and final impregnation.

The detailed cost of the work looks like this:

  1. Assembly and preparation of the lathing 180 rubles.
  2. Wind protection device 150 rubles.
  3. Covering structural elements with an antiseptic 30 rubles.
  4. Installation of 400 rubles.
  5. Impregnation with varnish or paint 70 rubles.

For a more accurate answer to the question about the cost of work, you should contact the representatives of the construction company.

Competent finishing of the balcony or loggia allows you to turn this corner, traditionally covered with skis and other rubbish, into a cozy addition to the useful area of the apartment. A variety of materials can be used for decoration, but most often the interior decoration of the walls of the balcony with clapboard is practiced - almost any master who has experience with this material and understands the specifics of the balcony can do this with his own hands. It is the consideration of the specifics that will ensure the success of the whole business, since the balcony is probably exposed to the strongest influence of negative factors, such as humidity, temperature changes, pollution, etc.

No, you thought wrong, this is not a plank from which the walls of boxcars are assembled. This is a wooden panel with a high-quality finished outer surface and a special fastening mechanism. Thanks to this, the fastening of the lining is easy and quick. And it was named clapboard because for the first time such a finishing technology was used to decorate interiors inside passenger cars.

The lining can be presented in various types with different appearance and quality. The highest quality is the Euro lining. It is characterized by the highest quality surface finish and a reliable fastening system that is resistant to moisture. For comparison, a low-grade lining swells when wet, and the fastening diverges. And the lining does not lose the integrity of the connection and effectively removes moisture along special grooves.

Therefore, the interior decoration of the walls of the loggia with clapboard with your own hands should ideally be carried out using the euro lining. However, you should not think that such a lining will not have to be treated with protective compounds - the euro lining, just like any other wooden material, is subject to the negative effects of high humidity, damage by fungi and microorganisms, etc. However, it is much more convenient and pleasant to work with it due to its high quality.

Today, plastic lining has also become quite widespread; this is a kind of transitional stage from PVC panels to natural lining. It has a rather attractive appearance, can outwardly copy a wooden lining and also has a lock in its design.

Finishing the balcony and loggia with clapboard - the main stages

The most important thing here is not even the cladding itself, but the preparation of the balcony for finishing with clapboard. It is necessary to create the most reliable and safe base that will protect the tree from the negative effects of external factors.

First, the surfaces are treated with PVA putty, which will create a reliable barrier to moisture. The use of such a putty has been proven for a long time, it is one of the most reliable ways to protect balconies.

Now you need to collect a kind of layer cake from 3 layers:

  • the first layer - plastering the surfaces of a balcony or loggia. To do this, you need to remove all fittings, baseboards, protrusions, etc. - the balcony should be a simple box. The plaster is covered with PVA putty on top;
  • the second layer is a frame made of wooden beams. The frame is also putty, and the space between its elements is filled with insulation;
  • the third layer is MDF panels mounted on a wooden frame. The panels are processed in the same way with PVA putty.

Now you can finally mount the lining:

  • we cut the boards to the required size;
  • we fasten the first board to the corner, with a comb to the corner, and nail it down with small nails;
  • we install subsequent boards, fastening the finish to each other;
  • on the penultimate element, remove the comb by half and round it off;
  • we fasten the last 2 elements at an angle, after which we mount them on a plane;
  • when the floor is closed, the corner joints are closed with a rail.

Calculation of siding and accessories

To be able to calculate the pressure on a house, you must divide the surface of the house into simple elements: triangles and rectangles.

Now do the following:

  • For each rectangle, we measure the width (height) and length in meters. The resulting numbers are multiplied and the surface of this part of the surface of the house is obtained
  • For triangles, you should measure the base length and heights. Multiply the values and divide the result by two - according to this formula will be the area of the triangle
  • Toggle zone counting of all areas where you violated the building surface
  • Calculate the total area of holes (doors and windows) and subtract them from the entire surface of your home
  • Increase the number by 10% (multiply by 1.1).

    Because of these simple manipulations, you have calculated the required amount of pressure, taking into account the cost of pruning and installation.

  • To convert square meters to bundles, divide the total track area by 0.98 (the surface of one standard plate) and the number of sheets per bundle (10 pieces).

fittings

The length of the start and end bars is equal to the circumference of the building plus 10% for trim and fix.

The rest of the furniture is designed according to the detailed construction of the house. This calculation can be trusted by professionals working on the facade.

Preparing for installation

Toilets sidewalk facades attract homeowners with their easy installation and high operating speed.

But these statements are valid only if the work is organized correctly: all materials are purchased, tools are ready.

But that's not all: how to set up a merge at altitude? From the steps to the installation, the toilet is definitely out of place (if I don't say it is impossible). Therefore, a forest accessory should be included in the preparatory work. They can be made of 150x59 mm wooden beams. For less critical details, the beam will be 100x50mm.

The floor is made of planks. The thickness ranges from 25 to 40 mm.

You should still arrange a place to cut off the spaces. It is best to cut the siding on a table.

tool

To complete construction work you will need:

  • Saw - hand or electric (radial or stand) and fine-toothed cloth
  • Small Notch Metal Wire
  • Corner and tape measure
  • Tin Cutting Machines
  • Nail and hammer
  • Silo, knife and screwdriver
  • Ear perforation along edge siding for anchoring under windows and at the top of the wall
  • Hammer drill
  • Crow
  • Protective glasses

We are now analyzing how to fix the track using self-tapping screws.

To fix them sideways, they are dipped with steel nails.

They can be replaced with aluminum with a 9.5 mm head diameter. The diameter of the nail shank must be at least 3 mm, its length is equal to the thickness of the entire hole in the body and at least 20 mm when approaching the base (load-bearing wall).

Preparing the surface of the walls to the surface of the skin

  • Removing gutters, lighting fixtures and other items that may interfere with the correct installation of the side runner
  • Also removed the shelves of old windows
  • Remove the remnants of the old whale around the window and right frames and other surfaces
  • Carefully prepare the walls, if the house is old, it is necessary to remove all rotten wood, weakly fixed elements - a nail
  • On a number of private farms, bushes grow near the house, and tree branches hit the windows.

    Of course, they interfere with the installation of the façade. But do not rush to grab the ax: take the best pieces of rope and tie an unusual branch. Thus, you will increase the work space and will not damage the green areas.

rings

A wooden rail with a part of 40 × 60 mm is suitable for the device of the rail.

They are pre-impregnated with an antiseptic. You can replace the track with a galvanized profile. The step of the container is 30-40 cm.If the house is in a zone of strong winds, the degree is reduced to 20 cm.

Around the openings of windows and doors, at the mounting positions of fasteners and suspension of other elements, on the upper and lower sides of the panel, an additional container is placed at all ends of the structure.

The upper blade is equipped with vertical, no horizontal backs - this will lead to an obvious deterioration in ventilation of the room.

Heating on the wall

Traditionally, siding has been installed with insulation.

In this case, the thickness of the support should be 15-20 mm more than the thickness of the insulation. Thanks to this difference, a guaranteed difference between the siding and the thermal insulation layer is guaranteed. After installing the heater on the box, the waterproofing layer is strengthened, and only after that the siding installation begins.

Installing the launch pad

Highlight the bottom of the page with chalk. It must be protected from the blind surface level by 75-80 mm.

Now set a start profile to mark the chalk with the top edge and expand it. The distance between the profiles and the corner (internal or external) must be taken into account a distance of 6 mm, designed to compensate for the spread of the side track.

Fixing accessories

The general term "accessories" combines various elements that allow the side wall to be attached to the wall.

This group includes surrounding bars, soffits, slats, outside and inside corners, etc. All are determined according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Setting external corners

Outside corners are set at the corners of the house.

The lower edge of the first element is set at a distance of 6 mm along the start line.

Inner lining with padding - comfort in the home

The distance between the corner and the top edge of the back corner is also 6 mm. If you plan to bypass the coated curtain later, increase this gap by thickness.

Fitting J-Planks Around Holes (Doors and Windows)

For connection to walls with doors and windows, a J-shaped tape opens around them.

To do this, cut a hole in the bottom of the stand, which is horizontally above the hole, and lower it. The curved front of the strap is then cut at a 45 degree angle. The vertical rectangle at the bottom of the cut is vertical (at a depth of 20 mm). After that, all the elements of the frame are grouped together.

Floor installation

Installation of side panels is carried out from bottom to top.

It is necessary to start work from the last facade of the house to the main one, then the overlap will not spoil the front view.

The joints should move relative to each other. The minimum distance between connectors is 100 cm in the horizontal direction and at least two lines in the vertical direction. The overlapping of horizontal plates is 225 mm. Overlapping the plates limits mobility and leads to their deterioration.

[Caution] About a week passed when the side of the house was removed by hands with an area of 112 square meters.

The preliminary work (by installing insulation and installing boxes) takes about 4 days. Toilets can be installed in three working days.

Decorating a bath with clapboard with your own hands: video instructions for upholstery, how to fix it correctly and with what, price, photo

After carrying out the main work on the construction of the bath, it is necessary to pay great attention to insulation, heating equipment, interior arrangement and facing work. These works are to some extent more important than the construction itself.

At this stage, the main functional benefits and comfort of this wonderful place for relaxation of mind and body are laid.

Do-it-yourself clapboard cladding

In this article, we will consider this type of work, such as finishing the bath with clapboard inside. This is one of the most common methods of covering steam rooms and saunas in our time.

A striking example of finishing a bath with clapboard.

Material selection

Which lining is better to use

The choice of wood from which the clapboard inside the bath will be finished is very important.

It is not worth using pine for these purposes, which releases resin when heated. It is a flammable and easily melted natural material that can cause burns.

Linden, cedar and larch are considered the best choice for the interior decoration of the bath with clapboard to have excellent healing, aesthetic and safe properties.

Pine lining is allowed for use in the dressing room, although even here it is not the best option.

Tip: for a high-quality and original finish, do not use the same wood in the steam room and dressing room.

The combination of different breeds can add flavor and originality to the bathhouse.

Lining made of different types of wood

Which is better - lining or euro lining

Euro lining is made according to the standards of the European Union and has a number of advantages over conventional lining.

  • It is made from selected raw materials.
  • She has significantly improved geometry.
  • The lining has a deeper groove, which provides a higher strength and surface rigidity during installation.
  • It has special notches for ventilation.
  • Instructions for working with euro lining are no different from working with simple lining.

It is worth noting that the price for it is significantly higher than for the lining, created according to the domestic GOST.

We can see an excellent example of euro lining in the photo below.

Euro lining for a bath.

Selection of tools

Before you upholster the bath with clapboard with your own hands, you need to select or purchase a set of tools that are provided for this type of work.

  • Mounting stapler and staples.
  • A hammer drill or drill, if the walls are lined with brick, stone, foam concrete or similar materials.
  • Electric jigsaw or file for trimming the lining.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Construction square.
  • Level.
  • Fishing line.
  • Roulette.
  • Materials than to fix the lining in the bath.

    These can be nails or screws.

Preparatory work

Installation of electrical appliances

Before you start upholstering the bath with clapboard, you should install the electrical wiring for the subsequent installation of the necessary equipment.

You can cope with this task with the appropriate knowledge, otherwise, do-it-yourself installation of electrical appliances is not recommended.

Bath insulation

Before fixing the lining in the bath, you need to take care of its thermal insulation. For this, a special aluminum foil is used, which is attached to the wall with a stapler.

The second stage of insulation, before the bath is upholstered with clapboard, may be the laying of insulation between the battens of the battens.

After that, the entire structure can be closed with a vapor barrier.

Another common method of thermal insulation is to lay the insulation and then cover it with foil, and only then the lathing is mounted.

This is the way we can see in the photo below.

Bath insulation.

Installation of lathing

Before finishing the bath inside with clapboard, it is necessary to install the crate. It is made of wooden blocks that are attached to the wall with self-tapping screws and dowels drilled into the wall.

In the event that the walls of the bath are made of wood, the installation instructions provide for the possibility of fastening with nails.

After installation, the lathing must be treated with an antiseptic (see how to treat the lining inside the bath).

The procedure for installing the crate can be studied using the video posted in the article.

Tip: before installation, the lining can be pre-coated with an antiseptic and a finishing paint and varnish coating that you have chosen.

This will reduce subsequent material costs and significantly improve material quality.

Installation of lining

To answer the question - how to properly upholster the bath with clapboard - it is necessary to study the installation features, which are prescribed by the instructions for the construction of such premises.

Decorating a bath with clapboard is simple, beautiful and profitable.

When carrying out work with your own hands, the following rules must be observed.

Advice: wood is sensitive to temperature extremes.

Before installing the lining, she needs to stay overnight in the room in which the work will be carried out. During this time, it will pick up the necessary humidity.

  • First, you need to accurately measure the height of the walls, then, in accordance with the dimensions obtained, cut the lining.

    Nailing of panels should take place directly in the lock itself. Fastening starts from the heater or from the corner of the room.

  • The lining should be stuffed row by row, evenly passing along the perimeter of the room. In this case, the last panel in the row is trimmed.
  • Slopes are formed according to the same principle as a metal-plastic slope.

The answer to the question - how to nail the lining in the bath correctly - can be obtained by studying the video.

Attention: when installing and painting, be sure to follow the fire safety rules.

Wood is a highly flammable material.

Post-assembly work

After finishing the installation of the lining, it must be covered with an antiseptic composition and special impregnation. Subsequently, painting with special paints is possible (see how to paint the lining).

An excellent example of lining coloring.

Conclusion

The lining used in the bathhouse cladding will give you a feeling of pride in your bathhouse.

A steam room with wooden walls is distinguished by a relatively low price. In return, you get a home spa that will create a lot of comfort and health. This is healing and joy that you can share with your loved ones and friends.

Lining is a finishing material used for indoor and outdoor surfaces.

Make the material out of wood or plastic.

The choice of substrate depends directly on the room you need to pay. For rooms such as a kitchen, balcony, toilet or bathroom, it is worth using plastic materials because it is often more damp. But for a bedroom, study, living room or corridor, it is better to choose wood panels.

It is also important to choose the correct media. It can be open (nails) and secret (clamps).

It is better to use a different method because it is more durable and allows the tree to breathe.

Beams under the plate and fastenings with clamps: correct assembly

Decorating a wood panel is not only about decorating the wall, but also about leveling it. You can do it yourself.

After reading this article, you will learn how to cover walls and create comfort in your home.

The installation of the cover is possible in various ways using clamps, screws or nails.

Railcar clutches are special clamping devices that act as a plate holder. Their main advantage is that they are invisible after installation and do not cause any damage to the material.

In case the house is built from aerated concrete, bricks or round logs, the lined wall covering starts with timber.

It will be attached to it later. If you plan to mount the boards vertically, the rails should be on the ceiling, on the floor, and in the middle of the wall. In the case of horizontal lining, the rock drill must be attached to the center of the wall and to the side walls. It is important to take into account that all rays must be in the same plane so that they can be obtained using a level and a plumb line.

This is more or less clear with a basket, now it's time to find out how to fix a wooden pillow.

Start at a corner (vertical position) and the first panel should be specifically defined. After fixing every ten plates, it is important to check the level if there is a deviation from the laying axis.

Horizontal installation of the cladding can only be carried out using a screw, otherwise moisture will accumulate in the slots, and the service life of the material will be significantly reduced.

Fastening the substrate is not a complicated process.

In addition, they do not require additional component costs as the gasket fasteners are attached. They make similar galvanized steel fasteners in various sizes and shapes with a thickness of 0.55 mm. This prevents rusting even when the backing is installed outdoors.

The clips of the clip must be inserted into the groove of the cladding at the level of the mounting rail and attached to the nail guide. You can use small screws instead of nails.

After that, the next plate should be inserted into the groove, and the buckles remain invisible.

For the perfect finish, you should use a stovetop, cans, and corner panels. They will want to close all joints and give the space a finished and aesthetic look.

Nails for this purpose can be normal and special - no hat. The lining nails allow for good fixation of the panels because they are not visible once connected.

Wooden walls of houses or swimming pools allow you to work directly on the foundation without the need for an additional hopper.

The fastening methods can be used in the same way as when attaching the panels to the rack.

It can be a mysterious cleric, nails, decorative and ordinary screws, as well as clips.

Finish off the liner by setting roots, knit plates. When the lining can be coated with paint or bright varnish.

How to fix a backup

Installation of the backing can be done using a variety of methods using self-tapping screws, clamps, or backing nails.

Place this material on walls made of brick, concrete foam, or round logs. In any case, work should begin on organizing the wooden container. Then it will be attached to it. The ladder can be installed horizontally or vertically. For each installation, use the same tools and hardware: nails, screws, clamps. So, when the lid is in place, continue with the last "moves".

To complete the workflow, you must attach the side panels, socket and corner panels. And then the room will look aesthetically pleasing and beautiful.

Why do we need support clamps?

Usually the liner is attached to the nails.

Of course, both fasteners and nails can be attached to the front. It's pretty simple, but it's not even aesthetically pleasing. The clamp is a special fixation of the cladding on the wall, which has a detachable connection.

Indeed, we can say that it is a "carrier" made of galvanized steel. It provides a secure surface attachment, the video is visible well. Plus, it's very easy to work with. Also pay attention to the low cost of the clamp. As a result, you can try a lot, but there is no better alternative.

Place the house with an exterior cladding

Wood flooring is used to cover the outside of the house in order to insulate the room and maintain the attractive appearance of the building.

In addition, this material is environmentally friendly, warm, and completely sound-absorbing. The coating is durable and resistant to oxidation. It can take any shape if necessary. However, it should be remembered that wood materials are exposed to microorganisms and beetles. To avoid problems, they should be treated with a specially designed solution (protective).

In this way, it is possible to surround not only the home, but also the lined bath tub cladding, and padded toilets are very popular.

Lining under lining - how to customize?

After the carcass was packed, a backing strip was attached to it. To do this, use rods 60 × 27 mm. In fact, these grilles are packed on a full length frame or in a house. Before proceeding with the installation of the upholstery to the frame, it is advisable to store it in order to preserve it for a long time.

Now our skeleton is ready. Let's remember how we can cover the cover. Once completed, it should be covered with a layer of varnish or other material to protect it from external factors.

How to fix pvc gaskets with your own hands

The process of attaching a plastic liner to a wall is the simplest and most important of the cleanest ways to close a space.

Subtlety of wall decoration with lining

Its advantage lies in the fact that this finishing structure has a high level of installation. If you haven't decided what to do with your own walls yet, this is a plastic plate that might be the best solution! The wall looks like a children's Lego designer. And any person who is not even a specialist can cope with this task. Now you don't need to think about how to fix the bars and whether they can be attached to a brick wall. The main thing is to choose the size and carefully cover the material.

Do-it-yourself installation of MDF panels

MDF panels are considered excellent finishing materials.

They are simple and easy to install. Fixing the MDF coating is carried out in several stages. Initially, the box is attached to the wall according to dimensions. The cage is attached to the profile along the entire periphery.

The liner is fixed to the wall using plastic dowels with screws. Would you better cover the wall? So far, landing is considered a very profitable option.

When the profile is attached to the wall with fasteners such as self-tapping screws or nails. How to repair MDF boards? You need to create a skeleton and then continue
wall coverings. The technology is simple and how to make a good end, every master will quickly understand.

How is it outside the house?

House cladding takes place as soon as the house sits down.

Finishing a home is considered quite difficult, while you need to start choosing the material. One of the simplest options, which is also great, is lining. If you've built a timber house, it is best to use a wooden backing. If you are building a house from the outside, you need to build a railing. The sticks are attached to a wooden wall. After that, the gaps are filled with heat-insulating material and covered. It is very important that the coating is treated with a special protective solution to avoid the destruction of microorganisms and errors.

This lining finish creates a wonderful decoration for your home from the outside.

How to sheathe walls with clapboard? This question is most often asked by people who have started repairs on a loggia or balcony. But this material will also be the perfect finish for a country house. Wood gives comfort to the house, allows the walls to "breathe". Natural material always helps the brain to relax psychologically.

List of required tools and materials

Before starting finishing, prepare the necessary tools and materials in advance.

This will save you time, as you will not be distracted during the search for editing. Here's what we need:

  • Lining;
  • Wooden beams or metal profiles to create the lathing;
  • Clamps for fastening;
  • Stapler or hammer;
  • Roulette (required for various measurements)
  • Jigsaw or hacksaw (to fit the lining to the desired size);
  • Building level;
  • Screwdriver or screwdriver (for fixing boards);
  • Dowels, screws or nails;
  • Sandpaper or mesh (needed to sand the surface);
  • Pumice stone or hard coarse brush (required for cleaning);
  • Grinder (desirable but not required)
  • Primer;
  • Impregnation;
  • Insulation and vapor barrier film (if insulation is expected).

It is better to stock up on the clapboard in advance, since it takes time to dry it. On average, it takes from 3 weeks to 3 months.

How to correctly calculate the number of lining

Each manager in a hardware store can easily make these simple calculations for you. But let's talk about how to do it yourself.

First, let's calculate the area of the room. To do this, you need to multiply the length by the width. Such measurements are made for each plane. that you are going to sheathe.

We subtract the area of door and window openings from the resulting area. Then we calculate the area of one board. It consists of: thickness from 12 to 25 mm, length from 1 meter to 6 meters, width up to 15 cm.

For example, we take a panel 2.5 meters long and a width of 0.1 cm. Its area is then 0.25 sq. m.

We calculate the amount of material for the room (it is taken into account that we only sheathe the walls) 4 by 4 meters and a height of 2.5 meters. First, we calculate the area of one wall, and since we have a square room, we multiply this number by 4.

The height (2.5 meters) is multiplied by the length of the base (4 meters). It turns out 10 sq.m. The total area sheathed then is 40 sq. M (10 sq. M. Multiplied by 4). To find out the number of planks that will be needed for finishing, you need to divide the total area by the area of one board. It turns out that for work we need 160 of them (we divide 40 square meters by 0.25 square meters).

When buying, keep in mind that during work, and in the packaging itself, a marriage is possible. Always take more.

The device of the lathing and the arrangement of the bars

In order to fix the cladding material to the wall, a crate is used. It can be made in two ways:

  • From a metal profile;
  • From a bar.

Let's talk about the second option... In order for the tree not to deteriorate during operation, it must be covered with a special solution.

Video - creating a wireframe:

What determines the choice of the section size? As a rule, if you have a flat wall, then the first option will do. It won't take up a lot of usable space. In the event that you have an uneven wall, then you will have to use a large thickness of the bars. This is necessary to level problem areas.

Thin slats are attached to the surface mainly with glue or nails. Thick ones - with dowels or self-tapping screws.

Sometimes, especially on the balcony, the bottom of the wall gets a little wet. To avoid this, apply a waterproofing layer or waterproof compound to the wall.

Important so that air circulation is carried out inside the structure. This will increase the life of the material. For this, if you are using shims, leave a small gap. This will prevent mustiness and dampness from forming.

Before you start attaching the frame, make a markup. To do this, you will need a pencil and a building level.

During installation accurately measure the angle of attachment guides. The aesthetic side of the design depends on this.

If you intend to use insulation, use wide bars. The distance between the slats should be no more than 60 cm. The direction of fastening the structure depends on the chosen plane of the panels.

If you want to increase the width of the room, use a horizontal direction, to create a high ceiling effect, use a vertical one. The racks are located perpendicular to the panels.

When installing the lathing on a wall where there are windows or doors, it is necessary to install the bars near them. The lining will be attached to them, and not to the frames. Make sure that during installation a uniform distance for the entire frame is observed.

Wall cladding

How to properly sheathe walls with clapboard? This question is asked by almost everyone who first starts this type of work.

It is not difficult at all if you follow all the rules and sequence.

The following methods are used for fixing the panels:

  1. With the help of a cleaimer;
  2. Fastening with a nail from the side of the tongue, driving it in at an angle;
  3. Using an additional clip;

If you start from a corner, it is best to do it from the most uncomfortable one, as pruning is inevitable. If you have chosen a horizontal direction, then it is better to start from the ceiling.

The last strip, as a rule, does not fit completely. Disadvantages are easy to hide with skirting boards.

One more tip, if you chose horizontal direction... To prevent dust from accumulating in the grooves, it is advisable to place the bar spike towards the top.
