Bathroom renovation portal. Useful Tips

Imitation of various materials: fabric, leather, tree bark, etc. Do-it-yourself paper fire imitation

This article is not typical for a site that deals with heating and ventilation, since it will talk about a popular homemade homemade product - an imitation of a full-size fireplace. Of course, the dummy is not able to fully replace with burning firewood. But the beautifully designed portal fits perfectly into the interior of the apartment and can decorate the free space along the wall or in the corner of the room. So let's see what of the available materials will go to the manufacture of a false fireplace and how to make it yourself.

What can be used to make a decorative hearth

To answer this question, we have collected scattered information, photos and videos published on the Internet by home craftsmen. If you set a goal to make an artificial fireplace yourself, then you will surely find a suitable material from the list compiled:

 • cardboard boxes (for example, from a TV set) or sheet corrugated cardboard used as packaging;
 • Chipboard, plywood and OSB, fiberboard;
 • drywall sheets (gypsum plasterboard), fixed to a frame made of wood or steel galvanized profiles;
 • facing brick.
This is how simple corrugated cardboard crafts look

The easiest and fastest way to make a fireplace portal is from a box from a TV or other household appliances. The fake hearths shown in the photo are of little use for many years of operation, but they are easily installed in the right place. As a rule, a cardboard fireplace serves as a decoration for the New Year and other holidays, after which it is removed to the pantry.

From other materials, including polystyrene, stationary models of false fireplaces are made that can serve for many years. They are decorated in accordance with the interior of the apartment and in various ways create an imitation of fire or furnish with candles. We propose to consider the manufacture of each option separately.

Council. Whichever method of manufacturing you choose, first determine the place for the artificial hearth and sketch by hand a drawing with dimensions. This will simplify the calculation of the amount of materials and the selection of the design style.

Fake cardboard box

To work you need a simple set of tools - scissors, a tape measure with a ruler and a stationery knife. Prepare PVA glue, old newspapers or paper and scotch tape from additional materials. A homemade false fireplace is made in different ways depending on the source material:

On the left is a dummy from a solid box, on the right - from 9 identical boxes
 1. A large TV box is folded to fit, as shown in the photo. An opening is cut in the middle to simulate a hearth, and the former front panel of the package, divided in half, now serves as the walls of a niche - a fake fuel chamber.
 2. From several cardboard boxes of the same size, it is easy to assemble a portal in the form of the letter "P" by gluing them together with PVA and adhesive tape.
 3. From sheets of corrugated cardboard, you will need to glue individual elements of a decorative fireplace - a framing, a pre-heating platform with a base and an upper shelf, and then assemble them into one whole. How to do this correctly is shown in the diagram below.

To hide the joints in the corners and in the middle of the portal, cover them with old newspaper or paper. Another option is to buy a polyurethane imitation of gypsum stucco molding and close all problem areas with decorative elements.

If it is necessary to strengthen a homemade structure so that it does not "fold" along and across its axis, install cardboard stiffeners on the back side, placing them on glue. Reinforcement of thin walls is easily performed using strips of the same corrugated cardboard folded "accordion", as shown in the photo.

Options for strengthening the body - gluing internal ribs (left) and accordions on a sheet (right)

Note. The manufacturing technology of the corner version of the fireplace does not differ from the wall model. Only large packaging will have to be folded differently, and sheets of the same type will be formed from boxes of the same type, and only then - portal elements.

So it is necessary to bend a large drawer to get a corner pseudo fireplace

The finished body of the false fireplace remains to be finished in any chosen way, for example:

 • paste over with wallpaper imitating brickwork;
 • revet with bricks cut with your own hands from thin foam;
 • decorate with polyurethane or foam stucco molding;
 • sheathe with plastic panels imitating artificial and natural stone, masonry and so on.

Use polymer adhesive or an inexpensive glue gun to securely attach the finishing materials. The final design is painting the product in the desired color (or several) with an acrylic or silicate compound intended for interior work. A master class on how to make a decorative fireplace from boxes at home, watch the video:

Fireplace portal made of wood and plywood

In this case, you will need the following lumber:

 • wooden beam with a section of 4 x 4 cm - on the main (corner) racks of the frame;
 • the same, measuring 4 x 2 cm - for jumpers;
 • solid wood worktop or laminated chipboard - on the top shelf;
 • any cheap plywood - for cladding;
 • suitable finishing material - artificial stone, plastic panels, polyurethane moldings, tiles and so on.

Also available tools are used - a hacksaw, a drill, and measuring devices. For fasteners, take regular black self-tapping screws, if necessary, perforated steel corners and strips. If you plan to paint a false fireplace, purchase an acrylic composition of the desired color.

Wooden frame complete with mantel
 1. Measure and cut to size. In this case, take into account the thickness of the plywood, otherwise the product will turn out to be larger than you expected.
 2. Assemble the product frame by twisting the beams with self-tapping screws and maintaining 90 ° angles between the uprights and horizontal elements. Make an extended base from below, and on top of the racks immediately attach to a wide board that plays the role of a shelf.
 3. Install stiffeners on the sides in the form of jumpers or jibs. Form the arch of the portal by attaching a horizontal beam at its top.
 4. Attach the frame to the wall or floor in the chosen location and sheathe it with plywood, including the niche. If you want an arched vault, cut out the corresponding rounding on the front sheet.

Finishing with plywood sheets

An important point. In the case when it is necessary to put an electric firebox with an imitation of a flame inside an artificial fireplace, the dimensions of the opening must correspond to its dimensions. Another nuance: be sure to maintain a distance of at least 5 cm between the wall and the firebox from behind.

The easiest and most inexpensive cladding option is to cover the gaps between the plywood sheets with putty, sand it with sandpaper, and then paint it. Another cheap way is finishing with PVC panels that imitate brick, as shown in the photo. How to properly fix this material is described in the corresponding article.

The mantel should be sanded and varnished if it is made of solid wood. Then it remains only to design the portal so that the impression of burning in a pseudo-fuel is created. The assembly process is briefly and clearly shown in the video clip:

Making a fake plasterboard fireplace

Here you can go in two ways - to assemble the portal on a wooden frame, as described in the previous section, or on a frame made of galvanized steel profiles. Since the future structure carries minimal loads, the choice of material for the frame does not play a special role.

But the installation sequence is changing - the racks of this capital structure are initially attached to the wall. The procedure is as follows:

 1. Using the drawing, draw on the wall with a pencil the outline of the future decorative fireplace.
 2. Using dowels, attach horizontal and vertical profiles (wooden blocks) along the lines marked on the wall.
 3. Assemble the frame from wall and ceiling profiles for installing gypsum boards, starting from the side walls. The firebox niche is formed last.
 4. Sheathe the frame with drywall and seal all joints with putty. Take your time to install the fireplace insert - it is installed after finishing.

When installing an electric firebox, sockets in a niche will be very useful

Note. In principle, nothing prevents you from first assembling the frame, and then screwing it to the wall and sheathing the gypsum board. But there is one point: the angle between the floor and the wall is probably different from 90 °. Then one of the planes of your product will not adhere to the building structures.

A false fireplace lined with plasterboard has one important advantage - it can be finished with anything, including tiles, which looks very presentable. Therefore, we will not list the ways of finishing the portal (there are too many of them), but suggest that you familiarize yourself with the next video on its assembly:

Almost real brick fireplace insert

Regardless of the laboriousness in the construction of such a structure and its cost, brickwork will give the maximum approximation to a natural living hearth. Plus strength and durability - unlike gypsum board, the stone is not afraid of accidental shock loads.

Reference. The structures described earlier are fire hazardous to one degree or another. As soon as a child knocks over a lighted candle in a niche, a cardboard or wooden product will quickly ignite. A decorative candle fireplace built of brick will not catch fire under any circumstances.

Portals from various types of bricks

Of course, a reliable foundation is needed for brickwork, so residents of apartment buildings are strongly discouraged from building such false fireplaces on ceilings. Another thing is the first floor of a private house, where, in the process of repairing floors, you can lay a foundation in the form of a concrete slab.

For work, you need a standard tool - a trowel, a wide spatula and a building level with a plumb line. To beautifully lay a decorative brick “in a wasteland”, rent a special masonry template shown in the picture.

The template allows even a beginner to lay stones beautifully - in a wasteland

A brick imitation of a fireplace is laid out in the following sequence:

 1. Determine the dimensions of the building and adjust it to the standard brick length - 25 cm. Recalculate the amount of building material and buy a ready-made mortar based on cement.
 2. Clear the base, prepare the mortar and lay out the first continuous row, keeping a horizontal line across the entire plane. Then lay the second row with the bandage using the template. The bottom of the hearth is ready.
 3. Constantly controlling the vertical, build the walls of the false fireplace to the height of the firebox (about 60-70 cm), then close the opening from above with steel corners.
 4. Lay the last 4-5 rows of bricks and let the mortar in the masonry harden for 3-4 days. Then install the top shelf made of wood or other material.

An example of a masonry scheme for an English fireplace. You don't need such a large dummy, but here is the principle of building a stone hearth

Council. You can build such a fireplace from any brick, including used and old ones. Only it will have to be thoroughly cleaned, and at the end of the work - painted or covered with colorless varnish. Take the orders of a real English fireplace as a basis, but without a chimney and internal partitions: put only external walls and a pseudo-fuel.

In conclusion - about imitation of fire

Making a decorative fireplace cannot be called complete without creating the appearance of a burning flame in the firebox. We offer a choice of several options for how to organize such an effect:

 • a popular way is to place a mirror near the back wall of the niche and put burning candles;
 • use the products of new technologies - LED strips or candles (there are some);
 • mount an electric fireplace, decorative firebox or biofireplace with a real flame into the portal;
 • embed small lamps;
 • put an electronic photo frame equipped with a large liquid crystal display in the opening and load an image of a burning fire into its memory.

New-fashioned LED devices simulate heat well, the main thing is to arrange everything correctly. The photo shows a good example with a glowing ribbon spread around the perimeter of the firebox. The composition can be supplemented with artificial wood and other commercially available accessories.

Time to make stones!

The combination of an image, metal fittings and a bright, bizarre structure of minerals on an object always looks very impressive. Using a small set of acrylic paints and household materials, you can turn any surface into a "stone".

The drawing on the surfaces of the stones is conditionally divided into groups:

Layered,

Spotted,

Thread.

For example, malachite is layered, but granite and lapis lazuli are spotty, etc.

1. Cover your work surface. Put on an apron or overalls (acrylic paint, if it gets on the fabric, is difficult to remove later), prepare several containers with clean water.

2. Choose synthetic brushes: wide flat and round with an elongated bristle (for convenience, it is good to have brushes of different sizes on hand).

3. Prepare pieces of a dishwashing sponge, sea sponge (not necessarily natural, you can successfully use its imitation), scissors, toothbrush, napkins, rags. You will also need fine sandpaper.

4. In advance, select photos of the stone and a set of paints required by color.

6. Multi-layer varnishing makes the imitation of a stone surface more natural, so whatever method and stone you choose, try not to neglect this step.

The palette is plastic.

1. Background. On the palette, mix together a small amount of Kaput Mortuum with whitewash. We get a pleasant, delicate pink color. You do not need to mix the paints thoroughly, we leave color inhomogeneity.

With a wide synthetic brush, apply a dense layer of paint to the surface of the workpiece, creating smooth transitions.

2. Spots. We moisten the sponge in clean water, wring it out, put a small amount of white on it and make prints, easily touching the surface.

We fill in the same way the area of the workpiece only partially, about a third. The direction of the applied light paint will serve as the basis for drawing future veins.

3. Veins. Use a small round brush to paint Kaput Mortum. Pre-moisten the brush with plenty of water. The consistency of the paint should not be thick.

With a trembling hand and with varying pressure on the brush, apply a vein and immediately blur its edge with water. Stretching the paint. We refine the line with lighter translucent shades, paint with the addition of white and well diluted water.

Draw all the other lines in the same way, including the light gray one.

4. Re-work with a sponge with a light color applied to it.

5. Drying and varnishing. We cover the surface with several layers of acrylic lacquer, dry it, level the surface with fine-grained emery paper. We repeat the operation, gradually diluting the varnish with water. For showiness, we recommend applying at least 20 layers of acrylic glossy varnish.

Imitation pink marble is ready.

3. Spots. Dip the sponge in water and squeeze out. Pick up Ultramarine on it and walk over the entire surface.

Repeat the operation with Cobalt Blue.

4. Veins. With a thin round brush, paint curved lines with white and blur their edges with water until the paint is dry.

5. Spray. Take white paint diluted with water on a brush or toothbrush and spray over the surface.

Do the same with applying gold paint.

6. Drying and varnishing. We cover the surface with several layers of acrylic varnish, dry it, then level the surface with fine-grained emery paper.

We repeat the operation, gradually diluting the varnish with water and reducing the grit of the sandpaper. For showiness, we recommend applying at least 20 layers of acrylic glossy varnish.

And we finish the process with finishing varnish.

The lapis lazuli surface is complete.

What is a stone imitation made of, and how to correctly decorate a room in this way? What are the advantages or disadvantages of imitation, how to care for it, how to do it yourself - all this is in this article.

How to create an imitation stone on the wall

Stone is often used for wall decoration, because it creates a completely different feeling, gives the room comfort and completeness. But what to do when natural stone is not an option for some reason? The solution to this problem is to imitate it.

Relevance

Natural or artificial stone can take up a lot of space, so it is not recommended to use it for finishing small rooms. And for imitation, materials that are completely different in size and texture are used, so you can choose an option suitable for a small room.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages are the following:

 • natural material is not always a budget solution. Imitation can be much cheaper;
 • imitation sometimes requires less effort and time;
 • a well-simulated stone gives almost the same impression as a natural one;
 • you can create a variant that suits your requirements and fits perfectly into the design.
 • in the absence of skills, the result may not meet expectations;
 • to learn how to make such a finish on your own, you will have to be patient and read the relevant materials and tips.

Features:

This method has many different options and corresponding nuances. But there are also many master classes that will help you make an imitation yourself.

How to apply a decorative stone wall covering

Before finishing, completely clean the wall from the past coating, dirt, because the strength of the finished finish depends on this. Then apply a primer to the surface. For greater strength, some use reinforcement mesh.

The finished mixture is applied in equal parts to a small section of the wall and hands create the necessary shape, imitating a stone. In addition, you can use tools like a scarpel, trojan horse or bushard, special stencils. After drying, the surface is sanded and painted if necessary. To give additional volume, the convex places are painted with a lighter color, and the recesses - with a dark one.

The plaster is not applied to the entire area at once, because it will begin to dry out, and you will not have time to form the texture.

Plastering the wall under a stone with your own hands

The base consists of water, cement and sand. Depending on what the imitation is, various mixtures are added to the plaster (marble or quartz chips, lime, mica).

The resulting result depends on the additives. If powdered additives are used, the surface will be smooth and vice versa.

Forms for decorating walls under a stone: what are there?

Special forms are used in which the solution is poured. The following types of these forms can be distinguished:

 • elastic (made of silicone or rubber; the most commonly used option);
 • rigid (plastic or metal is taken as a basis);
 • semi-rigid (polyurethane).

How to make an imitation of a stone on the wall with your own hands

Options:

 1. Styrofoam will help create an imitation of masonry or stone.
 2. If you need to design a small area, create an imitation using acrylic paints.
 3. Well, the simplest solution is wallpaper.

A more complex technique is papier-mâché.

 1. First, parts corresponding to the shape of the stones are cut out of the cardboard.
 2. Then take the egg trays and cut them into pieces measuring about 7 by 7 cm. Glue on the base, overlapping each other.
 3. When all this is dry, you need to dilute the putty with water to the consistency of sour cream.
 4. Cover the resulting blanks with the composition.
 5. After drying, paint with a roller, starting from dark to light shades.
 6. Then it remains to varnish them and stick on the wall.

Wall decoration with plaster stone: photo examples

Plaster can be used to decorate an entire wall, for example, in a hall, thereby highlighting a recreation area. The color is chosen depending on the style in which the room is decorated, but it is still recommended to choose warm colors.

The finished version looks more interesting if you use several colors for painting.

To create a glossy surface, you can use a glazing technique that will dramatically change the result.

Many people like to look at fire. At the same time, not every person can afford to have a real fireplace with a real flame in the hearth in the house. But today, thanks to the presence of such material as drywall, you can make a decorative fireplace with your own hands.

Salt lamp

The salt lamp is a special lamp, the shade of which is made of untreated salt crystal. There is a standard light bulb inside this shade. When the lamp is connected, the cover heats up and begins to emit negative ions into the air. They bind positive ions (coming from household appliances), which negatively affect the human body, thereby contributing to a better well-being of all household members.
The disadvantages of this method include the rather high cost of salt lamps, and the advantages include ease of installation.
Using shades of different colors, you can effectively and very easily make an artificial fire in the fireplace with your own hands. In addition, using several lamps of different sizes at once, you can create an imitation of a fire.

Christmas garlands

Preparing branches

All people love the New Year. Therefore, each person in the house has more than one Christmas tree garland. But few people know that with its help you can easily and quickly make an artificial fire in a decorative fireplace with your own hands. Therefore, this method is considered one of the simplest and most effective. Moreover, any person can cope with it, and in terms of cost, it will cost very cheaply.
To make the flame look like a real one, you will need the following materials:

 • branches of trees of various sizes;
 • aluminium foil;
 • lace. It is quite possible to cut it off from an old dress;
 • stones (several pieces);
 • glue;
 • christmas tree garland having a color background in red, orange or yellow. The best solution would be to use a twinkling garland.

The assembly of the simulation structure is as follows:

 • we wrap the branches with foil without gaps;
 • we coat the lace with glue and attach it to the branches. Next, we wait until they are completely dry;

Note! It will take about a day to dry completely.

 • then you should carefully cut the lace case and get the blanks out of them;
 • after that, in the hearth of stones, lay the stones in a circle;
 • put a garland in the middle of the resulting circle, and bring the cord with a plug out;
 • we put the resulting "lace" firewood in the manner of a fire.

Campfire formation stages

Plug in the garland and enjoy simulating fire!
As you can see, this method is very easy to implement and will cost you much less money than all other methods.

TV as a fireplace

TV in the fireplace

Another of the simplest methods for implementing artificial fire in a fireplace is to use a flat-panel LCD TV. But this method will be very expensive, since this technique is not cheap.
There are special televisions designed for use in decorative fireplaces. They have a recording with fire, which is played in the hearth of the fireplace.

Sometimes the TV can be supplemented with a special optical system, which consists of light filters. With its help, the image of the flame will become more expressive and voluminous.
Besides this optical system, a mirror system can be used. They are located at the corners of the hearth, thereby making the image more voluminous.
In rare cases, you can also use holographic installations. But this is not a very cost effective way.

Candles and romance

The simplest, but also the most dangerous, way to create the illusion of fire in a decorative fireplace is to use ordinary lighted candles.

Candles in the fireplace

But here it should be remembered that the fireplace should be sheathed with plasterboard sheets with fire-resistant properties. This will minimize the risk of fire.
Among other things, the candles will smoke, which makes this method less popular than all of the above.
This method is considered one of the design solutions for giving the room romance and fabulousness. In this situation, candles can be placed either individually around the perimeter of the hearth, or installed on a low chandelier.
As you can see, imitation of a flame in a decorative fireplace with your own hands is possible in a variety of ways. You just have to choose the most suitable option for yourself, implement it correctly (if it is difficult to execute) and enjoy the decorative fireplace even in the apartment.

Is it possible to make a cheerful paper fire with your own hands? Even the smallest children feel a great interest in the natural elements. They watch with pleasure and joy the currents of the wind, the flow of water and the burning of fire.

How do people make a fire now? They collect branches, chop wood, look for paper for lighting. You can already hear the click of a lighter or a brief creak of a match head. A warm, living flame engulfs the paper and spreads further and further. Branches and firewood are already burning. The fire has flared up!

Previously, people were very afraid of fire, because fires and lightning, carrying fire, brought a lot of destruction. Then, some ancient daredevil learned to tame the fire, planting it in one place and not letting it burn everything in its path. Another ancient craftsman learned how to make fire by quickly rubbing one stick against another. Now people could enjoy warm food cooked on a fire. They could light up their meager dwellings and keep warm on cold nights. Imagine how important it was for them!

Let's say thank you to the fire and make a craft in its honor! How to make paper fire? Making paper crafts is very interesting.

For crafts we need:

 • CD - disk
 • Glue brush
 • Paper thin as tracing paper
 • Dry twigs
 • Stones

To begin with, we take our CD - disk - this will be the basis on which the craft will be located. We put a lot of glue on the disk and put stones on the glue in a circle.

Inside the circle of stones, we need to fill the space with something that will look like black coals. This can be a handful of real earth, tea leaves, ground coffee, dark paper scraps, or dark pieces of wood.

We roll yellow, red and orange paper into a bundle so that sharp corners remain on top - these will be future flames. We tie the bundle with thread or tape, leaving the top free and straightening it. We spread dry twigs on the disk, like the logs of a future fire. We insert a bundle of paper into the branches.

Autumn gives a lot of material for creativity. You can make a "Bonfire" craft from autumn leaves. Dolls can gather around such a bonfire while playing Indians, tourists or primitive people, you can pretend to cook food for dolls on it, etc.

Materials and tools:

 • red, orange and yellow leaves (maple leaves, viburnum leaves will look beautiful, but any others are possible),
 • thin twig
 • small stones,
 • thin rounded saw cut of a tree,
 • pVA glue,
 • glue gun,
 • scissors,
 • double-sided red cardboard.

How to make "Bonfire" craft from natural material:

Dry the leaves under a press.

Glue red leaves on red cardboard with PVA glue. Cut the cardboard close to the outline of the leaves. Glue orange leaves on red ones, on them - yellow leaves. Glue the lightest sheet last.

Cut the cardboard with leaves along the bottom of the lightest sheet.

Dry leaves are very fragile material. To prevent the “flame” from scattering over time, it is imperative to laminate it or glue it on both sides with wide transparent tape, especially if this craft is intended for play.

Break a thin twig into small pieces and glue them to the center of the wooden saw cut with a glue gun. Along the edge of the saw cut, apply glue from a glue gun and glue pebbles on it.

Glue a fire of leaves on the twigs with a glue gun.

The saw cut of a tree, if necessary, can be replaced with a circle cut out of thick cardboard, the leaves can be cut using the prints of real leaves with paints, colored pencils or cut out of colored paper.

You can make from autumn leaves

Many people like to watch the flames. At the same time, not everyone can place a real hearth at home with real fire and wood. In our time, there is a way out, it is quite possible to make a false fireplace on your own, it is enough to cook: drywall (gypsum board), a tool, a good mood. However, when the installation of the frame is complete, the question arises of how to simulate a real flame in a fake fireplace.

Imitation of fire in the fireplace: design options

Decorative hearths made of gypsum plasterboard require compliance with fire safety standards, since such a design is designed exclusively for artificial fire.

Most often, craftsmen use the following types of fire imitation:

 1. Use of steam.
 2. Creation of "theatrical fire".
 3. The use of salt lamps.
 4. Installation in the TV hearth.

The most difficult way to create decorative flames is with steam. Not everyone can create such an imitation, because it requires a specific set of components and special equipment, as well as skills in working with electronics.

To make this kind of fire, you need to prepare:

 1. DMX controller.
 2. Fan with a diameter of 9 cm.
 3. LED RGB lamp.
 4. DMX decoder.
 5. 3 ultrasonic generators for fog.

These devices must be selected according to the parameters of the built fireplace, the layout, as well as the manufacturer and characteristics. It all depends on what kind of initial result the master wants to get. All these devices are part of steam electric fireplaces, as well as concert electrical appliances that create a steam effect.

With the correct connection of the devices, it is possible to make an imitation according to the cold glow system, which makes it possible to make a simulated fire, which is difficult to distinguish from a real hearth.

If the master wants to use just such a method of simulating a flame, it is important to provide for the necessary parameters of the components, and mount the hearth of the required size.

The principle of operation of such an electric fireplace looks like this:

 1. At the bottom of the container, into which water is previously poured, it is necessary to put a fog generator.
 2. The generator has a diaphragm that vibrates at a specific ultrasonic frequency, providing a reduced pressure. Therefore, it turns out, one might say, a vacuum and water evaporates at room temperature.
 3. Thanks to this, the steam rises up.
 4. Above, there is a backlit LED-lamp.
 5. A diaphragm is arranged above the structure.

Assembly according to technology, will make it possible to create a more natural imitation of a flame in a false fireplace on your own. The second way is the theatrical version. As it is already clear, this method is used in theatrical circles, for various kinds of performances. However, it is also suitable for making a dummy, imitation of fire.

To make such an imitation yourself, you need to prepare the following items:

 1. A flap of light white silk.
 2. 3 halogen lamps with reflectors.
 3. Silent, powerful fan.
 4. 3 filters: red, orange and blue.
 5. A box or a special bowl for assembling a false structure.

When everything is ready, you can start assembling according to the following scheme. At the bottom of the box, bowl, you need to arrange a fan. The cord must be routed out. Further, halogen lamps must be fixed on one axis, so that the light is directed upward. Then, at a distance of 20 mm above the lamps, it is necessary to arrange light filters.

From the prepared material, it is necessary to cut shreds of various sizes, preferably a triangular shape, since they will be more realistic.

The next step is to fix the flaps to the box, bowl along the edges of the fan. When you turn on the fan to the power grid, a not real, but very similar to natural fire will appear in the fireplace. This method is quite simple and makes it possible to make an almost real, mesmerizing flame in the fireplace.

Artificial Fireplace Fire: Salt Lamp

The use of salt lamps in artificial fireplaces to recreate decorative flames is beneficial and considered effective. A salt lamp is a special light device with a shade made of an intact salt crystal. An ordinary light bulb is located in the inner part of such a plafond.

When the lamp is connected, the plafond begins to warm up and exude negative ions into the air.

They bind positive ions (from household appliances), which have a detrimental effect on human health, thereby helping to improve the well-being of the residents of the house. The disadvantages of this method include the rather high price of salt lamps, and the advantages: realism, aesthetics and ease of installation.

Using shades of various colors, it is possible effectively and very simply, to make a non-natural flame in the fireplace yourself. In addition, by using several lamps of different sizes at once, it is possible to make an imitation of a fire.

Do-it-yourself fireplace fake: TV instead of a fireplace

Another easy way to realize a non-natural flame in a fireplace is to use a flat-panel LCD TV. But this method is considered the most costly, as this technique is expensive. Special LCD TVs have been developed, which are produced specifically for artificial fireplaces.

They contain a video recording of:

 • Playing tongues of flame;
 • With embers;
 • With a bright fire.

This recording goes on in the hearth of the false fireplace. Sometimes TV can be supplemented with special optics, which consists of light filters. With it, the image of fire will be the most expressive and voluminous. In addition to this optics, it is possible to use a mirror system. They are located in the corners of the fireplace, and the picture is more realistic, such lighting looks very beautiful. In rare cases, it is possible to use holographic installations as well. But this is not cost effective enough.

Decorative firewood for fireplace

In specialized salons you can find an abundance of options for such products; on sale there are quite realistic firewood with a natural pattern of logs. They can be plastic or ceramic. Any imitation, purchased or made on your own, is intended to give realism to a decorative fireplace, to help you feel all the splendor: home comfort, harmony, tranquility and warmth.

Imitation of plastic firewood or coal, has a fairly simple principle of operation.

Coal and firewood are illuminated with red lighting. The light bulb can be located inside the wood. Of course, this is not so reliable, but still. For more expensive electric fireplaces, flickering or a picture of the artificial transmission of tongues of fantastic flame is characteristic. It is possible due to a special mechanism in which special elements rotate around the lamp, alternating with transparent and shaded areas. Such illumination can be located either behind the dummy logs, or in the inner part.

It is possible to apply the exact same lighting system to achieve the effect of fire, using natural coal, which must be placed in the niche of a false fireplace. In this case, the backlight should be placed from the bottom.

Do-it-yourself plausible imitation of fire in the fireplace (video)

So, in the apartment building there is absolutely no possibility of constructing a real fireplace. However, a fireplace, even if artificial, requires imitation of a realistic flame. You can do it yourself in several ways, described above.

In a personal note, SweetlaNika gave a good reference to MK, but there is a decoration made of plastic, but I think you can make this out of mastic

Imitation wood

From gold and mother-of-pearl Fimo (in our case, mastic) we imitate a tree, for this we will act as if we are going to make a smooth transition of color manually:
Fold the triangles into a square, as shown in the figure.

Let's cut it into several strips, so that each of them has a different ratio of mother-of-pearl and gold.
Now you need to mix each strip until a uniform color and roll into a ball. The easiest way is to knead as shown in the pictures. Roll up a long sausage, twist it in half and flatten it.
After that, roll the resulting cake again into a sausage. Repeat the procedure until a uniform shade is obtained.

We got a few of these balls, different shades. Looking ahead, I will say that the lightest turned out to be a bit too much, a large number of light stripes is not good for naturalness.

We roll out such thin sausages from each ball, be sure to use our hands, squeezing from a syringe is not suitable here. The nacreous flakes must be twisted differently to achieve the effect.
I laid out the ruler and the template in the photo for the same neat people like me. Thus, I determine the approximate size of the sliced sausages. You see, I have them about two lengths of the template, when we roll out, we get just three lengths. (I don't like a lot of scraps)) In general, you can not bother with this, but simply cut into equal lengths.

It is also not necessary to bother with the evenness of the thickness of the sausages. After all, the veins in the tree are also uneven.
We fold the resulting sausages with one sheet, pressing them lightly to each other, in random order.

We got such a canvas from alternating shades.

We take that rolling pin that is bigger and slowly roll in all this splendor. Take your time, so as not to accidentally roll it to a very thin transparent layer

Voila! We have an absolutely wooden surface. The veins turn out to be very natural, since the scales in metallic plastic "stand on end" along the edges of each sausage and give a dark color, and in the middle, each vein plays with a shade, because we rolled it with our hands and the scales were wrapped randomly. Now it all looks very natural By the way, it is on this photo that you can clearly see that there are too many light stripes. We need to make them either darker or less in number.
