Rolled lawn: types and arrangement with your own hands. How to properly lay the roll lawn Technology of laying lawn grass in rolls

Today we will tell you about such an interesting material as a rolled lawn. This is a very popular coverage of the land today, not only in suburban areas. We will tell you how the roll lawn is laid correctly, about some of the nuances of the process. We will also outline the positive and negative sides of this unique material. If you understand this topic, you can easily control the masters who were entrusted with laying the rolled lawn in your summer cottage. So to speak, to be with them "on the same wavelength."

What is a roll lawn

Basically, it is a grass that is planted on a special basis. Burlap, cardboard or plastic mesh is used as the latter. The base is laid on a flat surface, it can be a ground area or rack equipment. A layer of sod land mixed with peat and sand is poured on it. The main task is to bring the acidity of the mixture to neutral, as in nature. The thickness of the filled layer is 3-5 cm.

After preparation, grass seeds are sown. As soon as the plants rise to a height of 10 cm, they are cut. This is done two or three times to strengthen the root system. After 2 months, the covering material is ready.

Manufacturers most often offer grass mats 2 m long, 0.4 m wide and 2-2.5 cm thick.

Laying technology

The technology for laying roll lawn is divided into two main stages: preparation and laying of the lawn itself.

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that offer the service of project development and landscaping work. You can communicate directly with representatives by visiting the Low-Rise Country exhibition of houses.

Preparatory stage

First of all, the site itself is prepared, on which it was decided to lay the rolled grass. To do this, remove garbage, stones, pull out weeds. Then the drainage system is prepared. They do it like this:

    Take off topsoil to a depth of 20 cm.

    Fall asleep a layer of pebbles that are aligned horizontally.

    Following a layer of sand. It is leveled and tamped.

    Fall asleep selected soil.

    Carry out soil rolling with a metal roller.

If the soil is sandy on the site, then a drainage system is not needed. It will only be necessary to clear the area and level it.

And the last process in the preparatory stage is marking. If the green area is large enough, it is recommended to split it into strips. That is, pegs are driven in along the edge of the site with a step equal to the width of the roll lawn. The same is done on the opposite side. After that, the pegs are connected together with twine.

Please note that the grass should not be higher than the garden paths after emergence. And if we take into account that its height does not exceed 5 cm, then, starting from this indicator, they level the site.

The main stage

In principle, there is nothing complicated about it. It is necessary to evenly spread the rolls near each other, leaving no visible gaps. It is important to place the first roll correctly. That is, parallel to the edge of the area where the material is rolled.

Since the rolls themselves have a certain length, then often each of them does not cover the length or width of the section. Therefore, the rolls are stacked in a checkerboard pattern. This is when the edge of one of them lies side by side, but to the middle of the canvas. When the entire area is covered with grass, soil mixed with sand is sprinkled between the laid strips. This protects the edges of the stacked roll.

And a few more features of laying a roll lawn:

    Gap between herbal materials should not exceed 1 cm.

    To lay rolls overlap prohibited.

    It is impossible lay pieces from rolls less than 1 m long... The edges of the material are the most vulnerable areas that do not take root well.

    Laying the lawn in rolls is best done in dry, cool weather.

    In hot weather the grass watered abundantly and several times a day.

    During the installation process, the layout is carried out from one side of the landscaped area to the other. To advance on unfolded rolls is prohibited.

    If a there is a reason to step on the laid lawn, it is better to put a wide flat object under your feet. For example, a sheet of plywood, at worst - a board. This will reduce the point load that can damage the grass.

After 15-20 days, the first mowing is carried out. Experts recommend keeping the grass no more than 5 cm high. Although this is just a recommendation.

How to care for your lawn

So, the installation of the roll lawn has been completed, the site is watered, what's next. The main task falls on the owner of the suburban area. And it consists in not overdrying the laid material. Therefore, the grass must be watered all the time.

By the way, in order to understand whether the laid grass layer is dry or not, you need to periodically raise the edge of the outer layer. If the reservoir itself is wet, then this is normal. If dry, you will have to increase the volume or frequency of watering. The recommended dose of water for irrigation is 10-15 liters per 1 m 2 of the laid plane. Please note that this must be followed for the first two weeks after styling. Then the frequency can be reduced.

How to choose the right one

Today, there are a huge number of manufacturers who offer rolling lawns. Therefore, it is difficult for a person who does not know the intricacies of the device of the proposed materials to choose a quality product. Therefore, a few tips.

So, what should be a lawn in rolls:

    Good root system, where white roots should stand out in large numbers.

    Turf thickness along the entire length of the strip should be the same within 2-4 cm.

    The soil should not be very clayey and not very sandy. It should not contain stones.

    Grass color should be juicy and uniform across the entire plane.

    Must not be pests both in the soil layer and in the grass.

    Complete lack of bald spots, which indicate the low quality of the proposed material.

    The grass should be beveled.

A few words about the last position. It should be noted that some unscrupulous producers in this way try to hide some flaws in the vegetation cover. A high-quality layer should have a small bevel so that the quality of the grass is clearly visible. The optimum grass height is 3 cm. And the mowing should be uniform over the entire area.

Purchase material that was removed from the turf on the day of sale. If you are offered an old stale product, then the smell of rotten grass will come from it, and the tips of the cover will also be yellow.

Advantages and disadvantages

Let's start with the positive characteristics.

    No need ready soil, sow grass and care for young greens.

    Finished green coating is easy tolerates low frosts, drought and is immune to various diseases.

    Prevents growth weeds.

    Simplicity leaving.

    Long exploitation.

And the characteristics are negative.

    High price... A rolled lawn with laying costs an average of 400-700 rubles per 1 m 2. The price plug depends on the green area. The higher the last indicator, the lower the price.

    A large number of low-quality products in the modern market. You can purchase material that simply will not take root or will last one season.

    Life time an order of magnitude lower than that of a sowing lawn.

And at the end, watch the video on how to properly lay the rolled lawn:

Conclusion on the topic

So, we have analyzed the topic in which great emphasis was placed on the technology of laying a lawn from rolled seed. This process is actually simple, but it has many pitfalls, ignorance of which will lead to a decrease in the quality of the final result. Therefore, invite specialists and make sure they do everything right.

Laying the roll is one of the ways to quickly improve the territory of the site or summer cottage with your own hands.

Knowing how to choose and lay a lawn covering, you can quickly create turf areas, decorate or a yard.

What is it?

Today, a roll lawn is an alternative to the painstaking work of creating a dense and high-quality turf cover. The device of rolls does not differ significantly from live grass. The only difference is that highly specialized farms are engaged in lawn cultivation. It takes about three years to obtain a green carpet from seeds that can be used for home improvement. The grown grass beds are rolled up, stored and sold to customers, since such a product is characterized by a short shelf life.

Each turf layer has a mesh base, which is highly durable.

Important! Green grass around the house protects its owners from worsening dust allergies. On average, 1 ha of lawn retains up to 60 tons of dust particles.

How not to make a mistake when choosing

Laying a turf on the site provides for the selection of a high-quality roll lawn and its correct calculation.

Correct calculation

You cannot buy rolled turf offhand, so that there is no surplus left or you do not have to buy it. It is necessary to carry out the calculation by measuring the parameters of the future green lawn and calculating the total area.

For example, the length of the plot is 5 m, the width is 4 m, then the area is 20 sq. m. This is the area of the future lawn.

If the site has a flat relief, without any bends and flower beds, another 5% of the area is added to accurately calculate the rolls. Laying a rolled lawn in an area with a curved geometry has a different counting technology. 10% is added to the total area of the lawn, since the amount of waste will be large.
Calculating the squaring correctly will help you calculate the correct number of bays. If the conditional width of one roll of grass is 0.5 m and the length is 2 m, then its area is 0.5x2 = 1 sq. m.This means that one roll will be needed per meter square of the site, 20 rolls will be needed for 20 squares, etc.

Did you know? Exercising on a rug, laid on green grass, reduces the stress on the joints, and the body is saturated with oxygen more than when exercising in the gym.

Choosing a roll lawn

The main criterion for choosing a sod cover is its quality. And all the rolls offered in stores have the same look. The average width of the turf varies in the region of 40-60 cm, and the length is 190-215 cm. The height of the grass is approximately 5-7 cm with a layer of root system of 2 cm and more.

Depending on the manufacturer, the weight of one rug can be 15-30 kg. The quality of the lawn is checked on the side cut.

An in-depth study of the quality of turf includes an assessment of:

  • the presence of weeds among the blades of the lawn;
  • uniformity of the grass cover (no bald spots);
  • density of the root system.
Experts recommend opting for sod rolls with a neat side cut, which has the same thickness of the root system and grass along the entire length of the layer, densely woven roots without gaps.

Did you know? In addition to purifying the air, the lawn can reduce the ambient temperature by several degrees in summer.

Soil preparation

The lack of high-quality preparation of the area for the lawn leads to the fact that the lawn with rolled turf loses its attractive appearance. Initially, it is worth taking care of cleaning the site from stumps and various debris (especially construction debris, which is often buried in).
All vegetation is also removed along with the rhizomes. Since they tend to appear repeatedly, in places of their accumulation it is important to carry out processing with special means.

At the next stage, you need to land with a shovel or cultivator so that there are no earth clods more than 2 cm in diameter. If necessary, you can add additional components that enhance fertility, improve the structure of the soil and reduce acidity.

Important! If the soil of the site is clayey and does not drain water well, be sure to lay a drainage cushion of gravel and sand with a height of 5 to 10 cm. It will help protect the roots of the turf from rotting and improve the water-air permeability of the upper soil layer.

A week before the sod is laid out, approximately 50 g per 1 sq. m and thoroughly mixed with the soil. The preparation is completed by tamping in dry weather. A special roller levels and compacts the surface of the site.
The height of the fertile layer after rolling should be at least 10 cm, and the level of the rolled soil should be several centimeters below the track height.

Styling features

How to stack?

It is recommended to start work immediately after buying turf. The lawn rolls are unrolled with the utmost care, laying them in a straight line. The first layer is key in all work, since all the others will be leveled along it. The laying of each rug is carried out while standing on a board, which will prevent the sod from being pushed through by the feet, and then tamped for contact between the roots and the soil. Rarely is light tamping with a roller to remove excess air and create a seal.

Laying out adjacent rows of turf occurs according to the principle of brickwork: the joints of the second row should fall in the middle of the plates of the first row, etc. This principle will allow the turf to take root much better. The device of the lawn lawn also provides for the absence of overlaps.

The rows should be tightly adjacent to each other, avoiding differences of more than 1 cm.

Important! Particular attention is paid to the edges of the plates. They are the weakest point of the lawn in terms of survival rate. In these areas, it is unacceptable to use cuttings less than one meter long.

The device of the lawn is carried out in cool and dry weather according to the technology. In the heat, it increases several times. Areas where the corners fall are also not bypassed. Grass beds are rolled over them, and then the excess is carefully cut off with a knife.

How to save a roll

The purchase of a turf should take place just before installation. It is often recommended to lay the plates within one, maximum two days from the time of cutting and delivery to the customer.

Did you know? The rich green color of the lawn restores mood after stress, relieves stress from the eyes.

Before laying, the turf must be stored in a cool dark room, since direct sunlight heats the grass, provoking its yellowness and early death. To prevent this, the rolls are poured with water.

When the laying of the turf is postponed for a few more days, they resort to rolling plates and irrigation work. This is a rather laborious process that will extend the life of the vegetation for another couple of days.

What to do after styling?

Having formed a common platform, the seams are processed. Each resulting seam and end is sprinkled with a fertile mixture of soil and sand. Then provide abundant watering around the entire perimeter of the site.

Our life is becoming more dynamic and eventful, and modern technologies allow us to quickly achieve the desired results and simplify a number of everyday situations. If earlier the owners of land plots could not even dream that the lawn in front of the house would be transformed in an instant and turn from an unkempt gray patch of land into a green lawn, today it is a common reality and a rolled lawn from the manufacturer helps in this.

What is lawn rolls?

A miracle was made possible thanks to the use of the technology of laying roll lawn, a natural covering consisting of grass grasses that formed a solid sod on a cut soil substrate. Such an unusual living surface got its name due to the shape in which the lawn is rolled onto the area where it will grow further.

Specially grown turf before shipment to the customer:

  • cut in the form of rectangular plates or long strips;
  • rolls up into tight rolls;
  • sent for further packing.

If the lawn is created according to the usual technology, with the help of a seeder and a package of seeds, then it takes many months to prepare the site, sowing, waiting for seedlings and further care for them. In some cases, a natural lawn acquires density and saturation only a year after creation, and sometimes requires restoration if the grass is spoiled by frost, rain or heat.

Advantages of a roll lawn over a conventional lawn

Since the plant completely retains the root system, and the layer of earth in which the roots are located is not disturbed, the rolled lawn, in the photo, easily tolerates transportation. If necessary, fragments of such a covering can be trimmed, for example, to accurately edge a flower bed or garden path. In this case, the grass does not suffer and, with proper care, acclimatizes within 2–3 weeks. This is the main advantage of the roll turf over the traditional one.

To completely transform the landscape, to make the site green and well-groomed with the help of a roll lawn, it will take many times less time than with ordinary sowing of a grass mixture.

The best time for purchasing and subsequent laying of a rolled lawn is spring, when the snow cover has completely disappeared on the site, and the ground and air have warmed up to stable positive temperatures.

When thinking about purchasing a man-made lawn, it is worth remembering that there are many types of such coatings. And the price of a lawn in rolls, its durability and properties directly depend on the composition of the grass mixture used to create it.

The basis of most common species is meadow bluegrass - an unpretentious perennial grass that does well in the conditions of the Russian central zone. Sometimes fescue, ryegrass or other herbs are mixed with bluegrass seeds to give the cover softness, decorativeness or other qualities.

To obtain a lawn bed, only high-quality plant seeds are used that are adapted to life in a particular area. But not less than them for the success of cultivation, it is important to adhere to technology and competent selection of soil.

So that the efforts invested by the manufacturer are not wasted, and the coating quickly takes root after the transfer, certain rules must be adhered to when laying a roll lawn.

How to install a roll lawn?

Work begins with the mandatory preparation of the site, which is best done in advance.

Since the rolled lawn does not like long storage and cannot wait until:

  • the site will be cleared of old grass cover, roots, stones and other large inclusions;
  • the territory will be leveled;
  • if necessary, humus, sand or black soil are added to the soil, depending on its type.

The coating in convenient rolls will not cause trouble even for an ordinary summer resident, it is unpretentious and easy to use. Therefore, you can transform it yourself, without the involvement of third-party specialists. With some skill and careful preparation, laying a roll lawn with your own hands on an area of 50 square meters will take only a couple of hours, but the effect of the work will remain for many years.

When ordering a rolled lawn from the manufacturer, it is important to indicate a slightly larger area than the calculations showed. Living material in dry weather has the ability to shrink, and one cannot exclude any unforeseen circumstances.

The shelf life of rolls does not exceed a day. Therefore, immediately after arriving at the site, the laying material is unloaded. They are laid out on a flat surface, protected from the sun, so that the grass in rolls does not deform.

When laying, the sides of the panels should be tightly closed together, leaving no gaps. When laying on the ground, one roll should go a couple of centimeters onto the other. When the grass layer is well crushed, the edges are joined end-to-end and tamped. In large areas, special rollers are used for such work. The gaps that appear during the laying of the rolled lawn or a little later are immediately filled with sand. Soon, when the vegetation gets used to the new conditions, the narrow ones will be covered with fresh shoots.

If you need to trim the turf along with the turf, it is convenient to use a sharp garden knife. Moreover, such work must be carried out with gloves and in compliance with safety measures.

After the completion of all work, according to the technology of laying the rolled lawn, the covering is abundantly watered with the help of sprinklers. In the next two weeks, during acclimatization, the root system of the grass must not be allowed to dry out. With constant humidity, the plants recover faster and start growing.

Features of the care of the rolled lawn

According to reviews of the gardeners' roll lawn, who have already appreciated its merits, such a turf is not only easier to create, but also saves energy when leaving.

Professional selection of seeds and their germination in specialized conditions provide:

  • excellent winter hardiness of the lawn;
  • its evenness;
  • stable density.

The formed root system of the grass does not allow weed shoots to break through. This is also aided by the preparation of the soil before laying the rolled lawn.

And yet, care for a rolling lawn is necessary. Mandatory measures to maintain the health and decorativeness of the grass cover include:

  • top dressing;
  • cleaning and combing the lawn;
  • soil aeration works;
  • mowing.

The first thing every green plant needs is moisture. For rolled lawns, sprinkler systems should be used. This will prevent damage to the surface root system of the grass and will not erode the layer of fertile soil. The grass cover and the soil under it are soaked to a depth of at least 15 cm. Otherwise, the color of the vegetation and its wilting cannot be avoided.

Top dressing of a rolling lawn is carried out in the same way as for traditional grass coverings. In spring and summer, plants receive complex fertilizers based on potassium, phosphorus and, it is useful to include trace elements in the mixture. Closer to autumn, the lawn is fertilized again, but with a different composition with a low nitrogen content.

Raking the lawn, regularly cleaning leaves and other debris from it is a necessary preventive measure:

  • to improve the growth of herbal rosettes;
  • protection of the rolled lawn from the dispersal of weeds, infection of the site by insect pests and pathogens of plant diseases.

That is, piercing the grass cover and upper standing soil helps to oxygenate the soil under the densely woven roots. A simple but extremely effective measure, it is possible to quickly improve the absorption of nutrients by plants and to maintain a high quality of the substrate at all times.

Mowing the grass as part of the maintenance of the rolled lawn is carried out from May to August. If the lawn covering on the site is only taking root, it can be trimmed only after a week after laying. And you can't try to make a low cut. This will damage the future quality of the lawn.

Regular mowing is carried out as needed. Most often, the frequency is 7-10 days. For processing the site, choose dry, but not hot weather, and after mowing the lawn is watered.

Before wintering, pruning of the grass is possible until mid-October, while there is no stable frost, from which damaged leaf plates and shoots may suffer. The optimum height of the grass cover at the time of the arrival of winter is 4–6 cm. In this case, the plants will be reliably covered with snow and will begin the new growing season healthy.

Features of a roll lawn and its laying - video

Growing your own lawn is a laborious and time-consuming process. But many want to become the owners of a small green island with soft grass for recreation, sports games, or landscape decoration. There is an alternative to the troublesome lawn planting - already grown grass in rolls, almost ready for use. The manufacturer takes on the most difficult job of sowing the plants, and the buyer only has to prepare the site, lay the rolls and regularly take care of the coating.

This material is called roll material solely in connection with the method of transportation, otherwise it is no different from ordinary grass cover.

Plants for a roll lawn are grown on level, well-lit areas, watered, fed and treated against pests and weeds. When the grass grows up, it is sheared and the root system is cut off along with a few centimeters of soil.

The coating is divided into identical fragments, rolled up and sent to the customer. So that they do not fall apart, at the stage of planting in the ground, a mesh is laid, which then serves as a frame.

Benefits of landscaping areas with a roll lawn:

  • Perfect green coverage in a short time;
  • Guaranteed uniform planting of plants;
  • Lack of weeds for several years;
  • The possibility of landscaping at any time from early spring to late autumn;
  • Resistance of the lawn to weather conditions and, depending on the type, to abrasion;
  • Ease of installation due to the low weight and strength of the rolls.

The dimensions of the roll lawn are standard: about 2 meters long, 40 cm wide. The soil layer should be at least 2 cm, and the grass height should not be more than 6 cm. The average weight is 15-30 kg, it can vary significantly, depending on the level of soil moisture.

When choosing rolls, it is recommended to inspect them for weeds and uneven seedlings. If possible, you need to check the strength of the canvas: you need to shake it slightly - the soil should remain in place. An important indicator that will determine the quality of the coating and its ability to take root in a new place is the development of the root system. The tighter the roots are intertwined on the back of the roll, the better.

Disadvantages of a roll lawn:

  • The high cost of the material, which is several times higher than the cost of self-planting;
  • There is a risk that the grass will not take root - this may be due to poor soil quality on the site, undeveloped root system, insufficient maintenance and an excess of the shelf life after cutting.
  • After separating the grass from the soil, it must be transplanted to a new place within 3 days.

In order for the coating to serve for a long time and perform all its functions, it must be selected in accordance with the purpose.

Views

Lawns in rolls differ only in the type of vegetation, it also determines how durable and beautiful the coating will be. All types are conventionally divided into decorative, sports and special. It is necessary to choose a lawn taking into account its functional purpose. If it will be used for outdoor activities or physical activities, then a sports one is needed. The purpose of the decorative is predominantly aesthetic, it is not able to withstand friction and quickly recover from damage.

Sports

Sports lawns must be resistant to trampling and abrasion. The vegetation is especially dense for them. Preference is given to herbs that grow quickly in all weather conditions.

For football fields, a mixture of red fescue, field grass, meadow bluegrass is planted. For the arrangement of tennis courts, an even surface with short-cut vegetation is necessary, therefore, most often lawns of one type of grass are used for them. Golf courses are planted with a mixture of fescue.

Decorative

For the manufacture of roll lawns of this type, more delicate plants are used. Most often these are herbal blends that provide a velvety green coverage throughout the season. Some ornamental lawns are moderately resistant to trampling, while others are for decoration only.

Types of decorative roll lawns:

When choosing a decorative lawn, you need to consider whether it will be used for recreation or just to decorate the landscape, as well as evaluate the possibilities of regular vegetation care, the peculiarities of climatic conditions and the cost of the material.

Special

There are special types of roll lawns, they are used to solve narrow problems. For example, strengthening the slopes of slopes, absorbing harmful substances from the air, reducing noise levels. For a home garden or park, such coatings are not needed; they are used on roadsides, at industrial enterprises and airfields.

Laying roll lawn

Self-laying roll lawn requires advance site preparation. It is best to start in the fall and roll out the rolls in the spring. Gardening with this material can be done from mid-May to mid-June. During this period, it is more likely that the plants will take root well.

Site preparation

First you need to mark the area where the lawn will grow. The next step is to take into account the type of soil.

On fertile land, where there is no risk of flooding and stagnant water, you can simply dig up the top layer to a depth of 15-30 centimeters and moisten well. Smooth the surface with a rake, remove stones, glass and other debris, break up lumps of earth.

If the site is prone to waterlogging, is located in a lowland or in the soil with a high clay content, then you will need to equip a drainage pad. To do this, remove the soil layer to a depth of 40 cm, lay expanded clay (10 cm) and sand (10 cm) on the bottom and tamp. Then fill up the soil, it should not reach the height of the garden paths by 2-2.5 cm, so that after laying the lawn goes one level with them.

If the site is replete with weeds, you need to treat the land with special chemicals. It is best to do this work in the fall. After that, the land will be unsuitable for any planting for a month.

If the soil is infertile, you can remove it and cover it with fertile soil or fertilize it. In the spring, apply nitrogen fertilizers, for the winter - phosphorus or potash.

It is advisable to compact the land on the site and level it with a roller or with your feet.

The surface must be perfectly flat so that the grass can be in contact with the soil throughout the entire area.

Stacking rolls

To work, you will need a minimum set of tools: a knife or a sharp shovel for cutting canvases, a board, a light garden roller. The soil should be well moistened, and it is also recommended to lightly water the lawn itself.

The work must be done following simple rules:

Roll lawn laying technology, as well as useful tricks, are presented in the video.

The green lawn will take root within 1 to 2 weeks. And after a month it will be possible to walk on the lawn. Further, it remains only to maintain the coating in good condition.

Rolled lawn care

You need to monitor the coverage created from rolls in the same way as for a regular lawn. The main care is watering, cutting and feeding.

After the plants have rooted, watering is carried out in accordance with the weather conditions. If the coverage area is large, then it will be difficult to apply water manually; it is best to equip an irrigation system that gently and evenly moisturizes the soil.

In order for the vegetation to be abundant and grow quickly, it is necessary to feed the lawn throughout the season. In summer, apply nitrogen fertilizers monthly, in autumn - phosphorus and potassium.

The lawn is mowed as the grass grows. It is recommended to cut no more than 30% of the plant. The optimal shoot size for a regular lawn is 40-60 mm. For flowering flowers, the height is practically unlimited; they need to be cut no more than 2 times per season.

It is advisable to kill all weeds before planting the lawn. If some of them managed to survive, then you need to try to pull them out completely with the root system.

Another action that will improve plant growth is aeration. If you pierce the soil over the entire area to a depth of 10 cm, then the roots will receive more air. You need to carry out the procedure twice a year - in spring and autumn.

Laying a rolled lawn allows you to significantly save time on landscaping areas of any size and purpose. You can do the work yourself - it is not at all difficult to roll out the rolls. It is important to remember that the cut lawn should not be stored for a long time, and after laying, the surface should be taken care of so that it remains attractive for several years.

You can get a flat emerald lawn in just a matter of days using roll lawn... Ready lawn grown in the fields for two years. For sowing, the composition of herbs that is optimal for our climatic conditions is selected - narrow-leaved varieties of meadow bluegrass (about 30%) and red fescue (about 70%). High quality seeds of the latest selection, winter hardy, disease and drought resistant, are used. The resulting sod looks like a dense "pillow" - dense emerald green on top and a dense root layer (at least 1.5 cm) below. The cut, rolled lawn is completely ready for laying - all that remains is to spread it on the site and water it.

The thickness of the fertile layer of soil for covering the lawn is at least 15-20 cm. After laying the finished lawn, its surface should be leveled with the surface of the paths, so the level of the fertile layer should initially be 2 cm lower.

Site preparation

First, you need to prepare the site for the upcoming laying: clean it of weeds, old grass, stones and construction debris. Then fill in all the depressions and depressions with a fertile soil layer. To prevent water from stagnating on the surface of the lawn, the site is given a slight slope from the center to the edges for surface water runoff and drainage. The soil is dug up to a depth of 5-10 cm or milled. If necessary, a fertile soil layer is poured. It is leveled with a rake and rolled.

Styling features

Store and store rolls of finished lawn in the shade, spraying them with water in dry hot weather. They begin to lay the rolled lawn immediately after its delivery - laying it out in straight rows along pedestrian or roadways. If you cannot use the entire lawn in one day, then the remaining unused rolls are rolled out and moistened. The lawn is watered immediately after laying. Be sure to check the degree of moistening of the lawn by lifting the corner of the laid roll (in 10-12 places throughout the site). The water should saturate the lawn to the very surface of the soil.

Correct care

Watering the newly laid lawn is done every day for the first 7 days, and then the next week - after 1-2 days, depending on the season and the amount of rainfall. Make sure to irrigate the entire area with the new lawn. The best time to water is early morning and late evening when the sun is at its lowest. The first mowing of a new lawn is carried out 1-2 weeks after it is laid. The recommended cutting height is 4-6 cm. When mowing a lawn, it is undesirable to shorten the overgrown grass by more than 30% of its length. A month after creating a new lawn, it is necessary to apply a complex fertilizer such as azofoska in the amount of 20 g / m2 or urea in the amount of 1 0 g / m2.

Progress

5) We spilled the lawn with water with a root-forming agent to a thickness of at least 10 cm. Having lifted the sod in several places, we made sure that the water soaked the lawn to the very surface of the soil. Freshly applied azone is watered every day for the first week, then every other day or two (depending on the weather)
