Metal floor stands for flowers - home decoration. Stands for flowers made of metal Stand for flowers from improvised

A do-it-yourself flower stand will certainly decorate any home, give indoor plants a stylish and original look. In addition, multi-tiered shelves help all green pets reach the light source, especially if there are many of them and it is impossible to fit all of them on the windowsills.

Nuances of work

Stands for indoor flowers are most often made of wood - boards and plywood. It is a convenient natural material that lends itself well to processing. Also, the stands can be made of metal, plastic, wire.

The stands can be placed in almost any part of the room - on the wall, in the corner, on the window. If the light-loving plants do not fit on the window sill, it can be "expanded" by means of numerous hanging or shelving shelves mounted in the window walls. If you need to save space and at the same time place numerous flowers and pots, you can fix the shelves on the walls. Also, beautiful coasters on the floor will decorate the interior.

In the photo you can see what the models of plant stands can be, and choose the right model for yourself.

Simple but elegant wooden stands are quite easy to make on your own, especially for those craftsmen who love and know how to work with wood.

As an example, we will give a master class for a wooden stand, which can be placed both by the window and on the floor. For crafts, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • board (pine is better);
  • slats;
  • sample;
  • stencil for side drawings;
  • pencil;
  • jigsaw;
  • milling cutter;
  • screwdriver and thin screws or hammer and nails;
  • skin;
  • wood paints and brushes or spray;
  • varnish (parquet).

Boards must be selected taking into account the size of all parts. For crafts, you need two side walls and three countertops. The walls can be about a meter long. Countertop diameter - 16-20 cm.

The template can be drawn by hand or you can use a ready-made one. It should be borne in mind that the walls are the main support of the stand, so they must touch the surface in at least three places.

How to do:

  1. Transfer the prepared templates with a pencil to the boards;

  1. With a jigsaw, cut out the details along the contours and process with sandpaper;

  1. Decorate the edges of all parts with a milling cutter;

  1. Connect the two walls using slats of the same length, cut to the diameter of the countertops or slightly narrower;

  1. Paint the workpiece with an aerosol or brush;

  1. Screw the countertops on the back of the stand (it is better to put previously prepared round pieces of plywood under them);

  1. Cover the stand with varnish and let it dry.

At this point, you can complete the craft and start using the stand for its intended purpose. However, to give the stand an aesthetic and interesting look, you can decorate it with artificial roses. For this you will need:

  • wire;
  • artificial leaves;
  • sharpener;
  • fresh branches (ash, linden, mountain ash);
  • candle;
  • dye.

While the varnish is drying, you can do the following:

  1. Sharpen fresh twigs on a sharpener to make round shavings (rose corollas);

  1. Insert the whisk into the wire bent at one end;

  1. Melt a candle and dip a flower blank in it;

  1. Paint a rose, fix artificial leaves on a wire;

  1. Drill small holes in the slats and insert the resulting roses into them.

Coasters made of metal also look beautiful, especially forged ones. They can stand separately on the floor, decorating the interior, or be suspended, for example, by the window. They are easiest to buy or order from blacksmiths. However, you can try repeating the forging patterns using thick wire and a soldering iron.

Features and difficulties

Perhaps the most difficult thing is to make floor stands for flowers with your own hands. For a home with large rooms, this is a great option, but quite time consuming. First, you need to design a frame that will hold the shelves. It can have the shape of the letter "A" or "L" or be rectangular like a rack.

The frame must be strong and stable. Bars made of wood or metal or polypropylene pipes (depending on the expected weight of the shelves and pots) are well suited for it.

Wall stands are racks or individual shelves attached to the wall. The shelves do not have to be located strictly one under the other. They can be secured in a checkerboard or other pattern to make it easier to place the pots and just get to them while watering.

Very convenient corner stands - this way you can save room space. However, you should not make such a stand in a corner far from the light source.

An original shelf for flowers and small items can be made from boards and belts.

Let's see how you can transform your favorite indoor flowers? For example, if you create a planter for flowers with your own hands, then such a decor will delight the eye and add zest to the interior. In addition, by equipping stands and / or shelves for flowers with your own hands, it will also become convenient for you to take care of your pets.

Design options for pots for indoor flowers

What is the difference between a planter and a regular flower pot? Translated from French cache-pot means to hide the pot. Thus, the flowerpot is a decorative "wrapper". Of course, a clay pot will be the best home for flowers, but it quickly loses its attractive appearance, since ceramics let water through and stains appear on its surface that cannot be removed. Often, glaze is used as a protective film, but it also cracks and crumbles over time, and then the pot will either have to be replaced or decorated. In this case, the pots come to the rescue - with its help you can easily hide unsightly places and create decor in the same style.

If you have a couple or three pots, then the easiest way is to arrange them beautifully on the windowsill. But if there are more than a dozen colors, then placement can be a problem. The most common way to hang the planter is by using ready-made hanging hooks or making holes for the rope. But you can make the attachment method creative.

You can organize a simple crossbar or build a whole structure under the ceiling, on which, for example, hang several.

The design of a one-piece planter does not provide for drainage holes, and openwork does not retain excess moisture, so this must be taken into account when watering.

Or here is such an idea for hanging a pots, it can be carried out even by those who do not know how:

If you need to place a lot of flower pots in a small space, then this idea is for you!

Using simple techniques from wooden bars and rope, you can make an entire shelf for flowers with your own hands, equipping hanging structures. More detailed instructions in this video:

Imagine, combine different ways, the more flowers you can place, the more comfortable your home will be.

Making pots with your own hands from scratch: materials and master classes

In this section, we will consider options for independent "cases" that are made separately, and then a flower pot is "populated" in them. For indoor planters, the choice of materials is unlimited and relates only to the overall design and your preferences. The most common and used for hand made:

  • cardboard,
  • paper tubes,
  • felt,
  • recyclable materials.

From simple materials for needlework and children's creativity, wonderful things are obtained, you just have to use your imagination. Here's a look, a charming flower pot made of.

Stands and shelves for pots with their own hands

Making a planter or decorating a pot is not all. This beauty must be put somewhere! You can't do without special shelves and stands. You can build a structure on the wall.

Or you can order a whole bookcase on the floor.

Or just such a stepladder bookcase.

And you don't have to ask someone. If you buy in a store cut-to-size parts-blanks, then even a gentle female hand can cope with the assembly. Here's how in this video:

But it is much more interesting to turn on the imagination and adapt unusual items to the shelves for placing the pots. For example, pallets. Paint it with wood stain or dark paint and now - an excellent shelf is ready.

And in this tool trolley, various plants get along perfectly, creating a mini.

Only the stands in which they are installed can spoil the beauty of flowers. To create a beautiful interior or decorate a section of a country house, you should take a close look at various metal products. Such metal flower stands perform not only the function of maintaining the pots at a certain level, they are an element of the interior.

Types of structures by location

Floor-standing, table-top or wall-mounted products are often used. They can be of various sizes and shapes, so the owner of each home can choose a more suitable option. When choosing such products, it is worth deciding which ones will be more convenient to place in the house or on the street:

  1. Wall stands for flowers made of metal, installed inside the house. Such products are small in size, so they are suitable for every home. They can be placed even in narrow aisles without cluttering up the space. Often such products are used to fill empty spaces on the walls. Forged flower supports look quite attractive, which look more refined.
  2. Table-top f. For their installation it is necessary to purchase additional furniture. Shelves, cabinets and tables can be attributed to it. Such products should only be placed in spacious rooms. If you neglect this rule, the room will look more like a flower garden than a living room.
  3. Outdoor. Such stands look more solid than the rest of the named types. They are independent interior elements that do not require the location of additional items. Their peculiarity is their large size, which must be taken into account before purchasing.
  4. Outdoor flower stands made of metal. Such designs are selected based on the style in which the site is decorated.

Types of structures

When buying a metal flower stand, you need to take into account their shape and size, otherwise, after installation, you can be disappointed in the choice made and take up a lot of useful space. Depending on the number of planters to be placed, structures can be divided into:

  • single structures;
  • double;
  • multiple.

Also, flowers can be located on one or more levels. The choice of a particular option depends on the items that are in the room. An example is a multi-level stand that fills the space between a tall cabinet and an armchair.

Materials used to create products

When creating forged stands, the following materials and blanks are used:

  1. Square rods. From them, floor stands are created that are combined with classic interiors.
  2. Round bars are used to create products with complex designs. They look more elegant and are suitable for rooms decorated in a romantic interior.
  3. Thick wire. This material is used to create lightweight wall structures. They look graceful and can be done in a variety of styles. Coasters with complex patterns are often made of wire.
  4. Decorative items. These include leaves, metal insects, balls, and spirals that make the stand more attractive.

If desired, you can find non-standard designs, made, for example, in the form of a bird's nest.

What to look for when buying coasters

When choosing a particular product, the first thing to look for is the quality of the stand. To do this, you need to consider in detail the connections of structural elements. It is on them that the main load is assigned, so before buying it is worth assessing how reliable they are.

If you look at the surface of the material, you can see traces of tools used by the master on some products. If they are not isolated, then this is not a sign of poor quality.

Stands must not wobble or have moving parts. If there are burrs or sharp edges in the places where welding was performed, the stand poses a danger to everyone who enters the room or moves around the area (when it comes to outdoor structures). Also speaking about the quality and influx of metal at the junction of the elements. They should be invisible.

Attention is also drawn to the material designed to protect the surface from adverse factors. Paint is often used, so you should look for chipping and swelling. If the coating is damaged in even one place, it can lead to rust and a change in appearance.

Stands in landscape composition

Due to the strength of the metal, flower stands made of this material can be located not only in the house, but also in the garden. They will not deteriorate under the influence of precipitation or temperature. For protection, the material is coated with an anti-corrosion compound.

Metal flower stands are often used for container gardening. This method involves the use of containers in which not only flowers, but also shrubs and trees can be located. Such designs perfectly complement many styles in which a suburban area can be decorated.

Container landscaping helps transform your porch or pool area. Such decorative items are often used around restaurants or cafes. With the help of correctly selected stands, it is easy to highlight the features of landscape design.

When choosing a design for a garden, you should pay attention to several characteristics:

  • design style;
  • the area on which the installation will be carried out;
  • number of plants;
  • color spectrum.

Benefits of container gardening

Flower stands are often used in container landscaping, which is versatile and suitable for many areas. If the choice has not yet been made, then you can familiarize yourself with the advantages of this method of landscaping:

  1. The containers do not need a dedicated area as they can be placed anywhere on a stand.
  2. The described products can be used for both vertical and horizontal landscaping of a suburban area.
  3. The choice of coasters and containers is limited only by the imagination of the owner of the garden and the style of decoration.
  4. With the help of containers, you can plant almost all plants that are used for landscaping.
  5. The use of coasters does not require a lot of money. If desired, the owner of the site can make supports and containers on his own.
  6. Mobility. The described elements are easy to transfer to any place in the suburban area. This may be necessary to change the appearance of the garden during the change of season.

If the container stands are chosen correctly, they can enhance the beauty of the plants in the containers.

Benefits of forged metal products

When choosing stands, you should pay attention to forged products, which have the following advantages:

  1. Aesthetics. Thanks to forged products, you can transform not only the interior of the house, but also the entire plot. Sometimes the coasters are installed near the fence, which makes it more beautiful.
  2. Originality. If the owner of a country house does not want to purchase standard designs, he can purchase them on an individual order. If you have certain skills, you can do everything yourself.
  3. Strength. Metal is durable enough to make outdoor stands. Thanks to this, the design is not only not distorted, it also retains its appearance.
  4. Resistance to precipitation and other adverse factors. For protection, metal products are covered with special compounds that prevent moisture from getting on the material.
  5. Versatility. Many types of coasters can be installed both in the garden and in the house.
  6. Big choice. Structures are made of metal for installation in gardens of different styles.
  7. Compatibility with other materials. Wooden and plastic containers for flowers can be installed in metal stands. Moreover, such designs are combined with any country house.

Do I need flower stands

When decorating a suburban area, along with other items, it is worth purchasing flower stands, as they not only support pots with plants, but also perform a decorative function. They also contribute to a more rational organization of space. Due to the variety of designs, you can choose exactly the one that will create favorable conditions for the growth of flowers.

If you wish, you can purchase stands with hanging elements that look elegant and unusual, attracting all the attention of the guests. It is convenient to place outdoor coasters in a variety of places:

  • on the porch of a country house;
  • by the pool;
  • next to the flower beds;
  • around the facade of the building;
  • near the tracks.

Making a stand with your own hands

In order to make flower stands out of metal with your own hands, you need to have a welding machine and a device for bending metal elements. The first stage is the creation of a project, the sweat of which the product will be created. After that, you need to pick up the rods of a certain size and bend them in accordance with the previously created pattern.

Indoor flowers are an essential attribute of home comfort. In order for them to grow well, it is necessary to think over the location of the pots. Therefore, you should get plant stands in advance. You can make them with your own hands. Some designs are made from improvised means in a matter of hours.

What kind of flower stands can be?

Flower stands are divided into 2 types. They are floor-standing and wall-mounted. The latter must be especially durable. Under heavy load, the entire structure can simply collapse to the floor. Therefore, if you have several large pots, then it is better to stop at the 1st type of coasters.

A more rational approach when creating such structures can be considered the manufacture of light decorative options.

Jar stand

You will need:

  1. Wooden plank
  2. White and brown acrylic paint
  3. Pipe mount
  4. Self-tapping screws
  5. Beautiful cans of the same diameter as the pipe holder
  6. Spatula or iron brush

Preparation method:

  • The board must first be decorated. To do this, degrease it. After a while, cover with a darker acrylic paint. It should be chosen instead of alkyd, as it is less toxic, odorless and dries relatively quickly. After a few hours, cover the dried board with white paint. Again, we leave the workpiece for several hours.
  • We age the surface with the sharp edge of a putty knife or an iron brush. To do this, in a chaotic manner, we make short and long scratches all over the board. The final piece should be made in a shabby chic style.
  • On the board, mark with a pencil the places where the cans will be installed. To do this, take pipe fittings. They look like expandable rings with a mounting hole. Attach them in the right places. Then, holding each one with one hand, secure them to the self-tapping screw.
  • We decorate banks. They can also be overcoated with acrylic paint of any color. Choose a jar for the size of the future flower. After painting, soil is poured into it and a flower is planted.
  • All that remains is to attach the board to the wall. To do this, mark the points on the wall for fastening. Then we drill them with a drill. Insert the dowel into the hole. After that, we put the stand-board on a self-tapping screw. We insert the jars with the planted plants into metal fasteners. Their upper part can be decorated with twine if desired.
  • It is best to use a similar stand for shade-loving plants. If it is located near the window, you can plant violets in the jars.

Wooden flower baskets: master class

Stands can be made of treated solid wood, plywood or MDF. In the latter cases, the main material must be moisture resistant, as it can deteriorate due to periodic spraying of the plants.

A fairly convenient option is a pedestal stand for several pots.

You will need:

  1. Jigsaw
  2. Drill
  3. Ruler
  4. Dowels and screws

Manufacturing instruction:

  • First, let's sketch out a template for the stand. It consists of 9 parts. 2 circles will be the bottom-base and top, and several rectangular blanks will be the bearing support. The approximate diameter of the circle is 40 cm. The height of the rectangular parts is 50 cm. With such dimensions, the do-it-yourself flower stand will be quite stable.
  • First, we transfer the required dimensions to mdf. After that, cut out 3 identical circles, 2 narrow rectangles and one wide one.
  • Saw one of the circles with a jigsaw perpendicular to the center point. We should have 4 sectors.
  • Take 2 large circles and a wide rectangle. We outline the marks for the mount and drill them. Then we carefully put the parts on the screws. They should look like this: 2 circles and a rectangle diagonally between them.
  • Let's move on to embedding other rectangles. They need to be positioned at an angle of 90 degrees to the wider one. Parts are also attached to self-tapping screws.
  • The sawn sectors will need to be located at any convenient level in the parts obtained after the intersection of the rectangles. They look best at different levels. Sectors are also planted on self-tapping screws.
  • After sawing out the workpieces, you may notice that the edges remain unprocessed. They can be trimmed off on their own or parts of the future stand can be handed over to the furniture base, where a specialist will do it.

How to make flower stands on the windowsill?

Many housewives are faced with the fact that the window sill becomes the only bright place in the apartment for growing flowers. In this situation, he simply physically cannot accommodate all indoor plants. A hanging flower stand will help solve the problem. You can also make it for walls. In this case, they are equipped with additional lighting.

You will need:

  1. Several boards of the same width and length
  2. Strong ropes
  3. Jigsaw
  4. Acrylic paint
  5. Anchor bolts
  6. Flower pots

Manufacturing instruction:

  • This flower stand is designed for a certain number of the same type of pots. The structure is essentially suspended. Therefore, you need to pay special attention to fastening. First, let's decide on the length of each shelf and the number of pots. If we make a stand for the windowsill, then we can run it along the entire space.
  • Then we outline the locations of the pots on the boards. To do this, put one of them, screwing upside down. We outline it along the diameter of the upper part. Then we retreat from the circle the verified distance and circle the following locations of the flowers.
  • Using a jigsaw, we cut out these circles. It's easier to do this. Drill a hole at one of the points of the line with a drill. Then we insert a jigsaw file into it and cut it out in a circle.
  • If the resulting hole came out with chips, then we go along it with sandpaper.
  • We make holes for fastening. To do this, we drill them with a drill with a large diameter at the corners of each board. The holes must be at the same distance.
  • Then we form two large pieces of rope (about 2-3 m.). It should be twisted and strong enough. We stretch one of them through the left holes in the boards. Better to do this from the bottom up. Tie a rope under and above each hole with a knot. This will help hold the boards up. It is better to start connecting the shelf from the upper holes. Then you need to leave a little rope for hanging the structure and put it down again through the lower holes. We do the same with the other cut and the opposite side.
  • On the upper part of the window opening, we outline the points for attaching the stand. The distance between them is equal to the length of the boards. We drill them with a drill, and then we mount an anchor bolt into the holes. Make sure the mount sits securely in the concrete.
  • We paint an almost finished stand with any acrylic paint. If your flowers require periodic spraying, then the surface should be covered with a waterproof varnish or any means for protecting wood indoors. After the boards are dry, we hang it by the anchor bolts. At the end, we plant flowers in pots, through which the holes were circled. Carefully insert them into the holes of the stand.

Indoor plants are considered the key to coziness and comfort in the home and in many institutions. They are able to saturate the air with oxygen, reduce the level of noise coming from the street. Some plants protect against germs and dust particles that cause allergic coughs and runny nose. Sometimes there are much more flowers than window sills can accept. In this case, wall-mounted or floor-standing flower stands are practiced. They can be purchased in the retail network, or you can make flower stands with your own hands.

The easiest and most affordable way to make a do-it-yourself flower stand

Let's start with the simplest option (Figure 1). Any woman, teenager can build it. To make a stand, you will need a piece of board with any size, but not more than 80 cm. Such waste often remains when sheathing a balcony, carrying out other construction work. The board must be finished on both sides. For a better look, it can be additionally "sanded" with coarse sandpaper, coated with varnish, and varnished.

As suspension structures, you can use a belt for safety or car seat belts, old leather belts, and other sturdy material. On the wall in a convenient place we make two holes at a distance less than the width of the board by 10-16 cm. Cut off two strips of the same size from the safety belts. To determine the size of the tape, you should estimate at what height you want the shelf. With a board width of 25 cm and a height of the location of the mount of 35 cm, we can calculate the total length based on the Pythagorean theorem. First, we are looking for the sum of the squares of the legs 25x25 + 35x35 = 1850 cm.The square root of 1850 is approximately 43 cm (the size of the hypotenuse). Therefore, the length of one fastening strip is 25 + 35 + 43 = 103 cm.

If you want to make the shelf lower or higher, then you can independently calculate the length of the tape. We fold the tape in half and attach it to the wall in two places. We thread the board into the loops, align, the stand is ready. This shelf can support sufficient weight. However, being a suspended structure does not provide a 100% guarantee of reliability. It should not be hung at school, kindergarten.

Shelf from the remnants of OSB or chipboard

A more reliable do-it-yourself flower stand is considered to be a shelf made of the remains of OSB-3 (Figure 2). Such material is not afraid of moisture in case of accidental overflow of water and splashing flowers. To complete the shelves, you will need fasteners and a tool for processing along with the remnants of OSB or chipboard. Such work is within the power of a man who is friends with carpentry. We will not indicate the exact dimensions, since there may be necessary leftovers in the house, from which a similar shelf can be made.

Stand for two flowers

Not much different from the previous version of the shelf for flowers for two pots. It is also made from the remnants of OSB, chipboard or lining of certain sizes. Shelves are attached to the main board using metal corners. For the strength of the shelves and the entire structure, it is reinforced with an additional screed, which is made of plywood or other material.
