Exercises for the left hemisphere. The right hemisphere of the brain and its effective development

I am glad to welcome you, dear readers of my blog! As promised in the previous article, today we will look at what the right hemisphere of the brain is responsible for. I also want to propose an integrated approach to develop both halves. Then you will be successful in any activity, and also learn how to masterfully manage your own hands, moreover, to perform various functions at the same time.

Functions

The right hemisphere is responsible for our creative part, that is, the ability to fantasize, to process information that comes in the form of images and symbols.

Helps to recognize the non-verbal manifestations of a person, which, as you know, are very important in the process of communication, since the body signals are true and truthful. It is thanks to this part of the brain that we can consider any situation from different angles, giving an objective assessment and, in general, catching many nuances at the same time, managing to process and systematize them.

A person who has more developed logic does not understand jokes and takes everything literally. On the contrary, a creative person in this regard is very plastic, thinking with the help of metaphors. She is able to write poetry, music, paint and understand people well because she is intuitive and sensitive. He orients himself well on the terrain, again thanks to the ability to come up with a non-standard approach to solving problems, putting puzzles into one picture in his imagination.

Of course, if you raise your left arm or leg up, this means that the opposite hemisphere is included in the work, since the left side of your body obeys it. It is generally accepted that the orientation of a person with a dominant right half is directed towards the environment, that is, outside and is called extraversion.

He is more sociable, prone to emotions and momentary impulses. Acts not according to a clear plan, but based on the situation, adjusting to changing conditions. To find out which half is more developed in you, you can experiment by completing the tasks outlined about the left hemisphere of the brain.

Exercises

  1. So, in order to pump your creative part, you should visit exhibitions, museums, art galleries, and, of course, try yourself in writing poems, stories, practice drawing, even if abstract and understandable only to you. Dancing helps to coordinate movements, which is also beneficial for development.
  2. Start practicing visualization techniques that will help you achieve your goals as quickly as possible, as well as help develop the ability to daydream and daydream. It's easy to do, just study for the beginning, where I talk in detail about all the nuances of the practice.
  3. Meditation is not easy for people who have well developed logical thinking, but it is very effective for them. And not only to expand the boundaries of consciousness, the ability to move away from a clear structure and think in volume, but also to improve the quality of life and health. Start with the simplest meditation focused on breathing and focusing. You will find detailed instructions.
  4. Massaging your left ear will help activate your right brain. Suitable in cases where you need to creatively approach the solution of any issue, rely on your intuition.
  5. Creativity is not limited to drawing and poetry, read jokes and watch humorous programs, laughter will not only activate the brain, but also improve well-being, preventing the onset of depression. Also, did you know that people who use humor and sarcasm in their speech have a high level of intelligence?
  6. When listening to music, try to listen to your feelings, breathing. Let the images, associations and pictures circle freely in your head, do not control them, trying to get rid of them. Just watch them as an unwitting spectator of the play, which was organized by your consciousness and subconsciousness.

An integrated approach to the development of both halves of the brain

As I said, it is important to coordinate the work of both halves in order to expand their capabilities and functions for which they are responsible. Then a creative approach to solving even the most difficult problems will be provided to you, and the speed and efficiency of information processing will also increase.

  1. Sit comfortably with your back straight, choose a point in front of you, you will have to concentrate on it. After about a minute, try with your peripheral vision, without taking your eyes off the selected point, to consider what is to your left, and then to your right.
  2. Stroke your stomach with one hand and tap your head with the other. Slowly at first to adjust, building up the pace over time.
  3. Also, the development of both hemispheres will provide you with such a task: put the finger of one hand to the tip of your nose, and with the other hand grasp the ear opposite to it. For example, the right hand should take the left ear. As soon as you grab it, clap your hands and do the same, changing the position of your hands. That is, the fingers of a completely different hand touch the nose, exactly the same pattern with the ears.
  4. Stretch out your arms in front of you, draw one of them in the air, for example, a square, and the other a circle. When you feel that there are successes, come up with new shapes to master.

Conclusion

Do the exercises, and over time you will notice how much easier it has become to make decisions and do the usual work, communicate with people, and more. You can periodically check the level of intelligence, how much it increases and changes. You can learn more about this from the article.

Our brain is a mystery, but on the pages of this blog, I will collect information about all possible ways of its development. Subscribe to updates so as not to miss the release of new articles. Bye Bye.

Instructions

Having dealt with the purpose of the left hemisphere, scientists were lost for a long time in conjectures: what did the right hemisphere get, what is it for? The answer was not immediately found. Experiments have shown that the right hemisphere manages a holistic perception of reality, visual-figurative thinking, the perception of music, artistic images, etc. It can be said to be the intuitive unit of our brain "computer".

Develop abilities for which the right is responsible hemisphere brain, you can and should. This contributes to the education of a holistic view of reality, strengthens the intuitive comprehension of the world, develops creative imagination.

In general terms, the strengthening of the work of the right hemisphere departments brain occurs when we listen to musical compositions, indulge in dreams, meditate in solitude, draw, and any other types of creative activity associated with the operation of holistic images.

The natural path of development of the right side brain includes active participation in those types of social activity that involve the functions inherent in this thought block. Writing poetry, literary creation, even in such simple forms as maintaining a personal blog; singing, dancing, drawing - all types of such right-brain activities cannot be enumerated.

There are also special techniques for stimulating the work of the intuitive block. brain... They are based on the idea of a person's ability to control imagination. For this, calm music is used for relaxation, the absence of distracting noise interference.

As you plunge into a relaxed state, you can mentally draw pictures that reflect your positive intentions or the state you intend to achieve. A session of this kind can last from a few minutes to an hour. The result is the activation of the right hemisphere. brain, up to getting intuitive answers to some questions concerning seemingly insoluble life situations.

  • Logic or intuition? Why develop the right hemisphere
  • right side of the brain

It is well known that the human brain consists of two hemispheres. The left hemisphere is responsible for logic, analysis, accurate calculations. Right - promotes the development of imagination, creativity, intuition, is a generator of new ideas. How to properly develop the hemispheres of the brain in order to become a harmonious personality?

You can properly develop the hemispheres of the brain by training your arms. This requires the usual manipulations, which are automatically performed by the right hand (if the person is left-handed, then the left) to begin to do with the other hand.

You should start with simple steps. For example, press the buttons on the remote control to flip through the records, remove the mobile from the case, brush your teeth, etc. left hand. Gradually the task becomes more complicated: you can try to print, draw with your left hand. If classes become a habit, a positive result will not be long in coming.

Both hands work - both hemispheres develop

Psychophysiologists have developed a special set of exercises for the development of the hemispheres. But practice shows that training is closer through actions that have become a habit over the years. One of the most effective techniques is "mirror painting". For this, nothing special is needed. It is enough to put a notebook or a blank sheet of paper in front of you, take in both hands

Everyone is accustomed to the fact that you need to develop memory, attention, intelligence, and improve your body. But for some reason, at the same time, few people pay attention to the brain itself, on which the development of all this in most cases depends. Even the body will not develop and improve, if before that the brain does not properly tune in and think about how to start working on the body.

It is well known that the brain has two parts: left and right. For some, the left side functions better, for others the right, and for the happiest, both. Naturally, the winners are those who make the most of their wealth.

The left hemisphere thinks logically. The right one helps to create new things, generate ideas, integrate. However, you can be a mathematician with a well-developed left hemisphere and still come up with nothing new. Or you can be a creator and pour ideas left and right and not realize any of them because of the inconsistency and illogicality of your actions. Such people are common. And they lack only one thing: work on improving their brain, bringing it into a harmonious state.

Psychophysiologists have long developed a system of exercises to harmonize the cerebral hemispheres. It is good in this respect for musicians, for example, pianists. From early childhood, they are instilled in a harmonious perception of the environment. After all, the most important tool for brain development is the hands. Acting with two hands, a person develops both hemispheres.

Hemispheric Synchronization Exercises

Many of them are well known to us from childhood.

"Ear-nose"

With the left hand we grab the tip of the nose, and with the right hand, the opposite ear, i.e. left. Release your ear and nose at the same time, clap your hands, change the position of your hands "exactly the opposite." I tried it, it worked better as a child.

"Mirror painting"

Put a blank sheet of paper on the table, take a pencil each. Draw at the same time with both hands mirror-symmetrical patterns, letters. When doing this exercise, you should feel relaxation in your eyes and hands, because when both hemispheres work simultaneously, the efficiency of the whole brain is improved.

"Ring"

Alternately and very quickly, we sort out the fingers, connecting the index, middle, ring, little fingers in a ring with the thumb. First, you can use each hand separately, then simultaneously with both hands.

Now let's remember the physical education lessons. It was not for nothing that we were forced to do exercises in which we had to reach our right leg with our left hand and vice versa. They also develop our hemispheres, and help them work in concert.

The next workout helps to relieve emotional stress, improves performance, develops attention, thinking and interhemispheric connections. The exercise is difficult and interesting at the same time.

"Ambulance"

I explain the procedure. Before you lies a piece of paper with the letters of the alphabet, almost all of them. Under each letter are written the letters L, P or B. The upper letter is pronounced, and the lower one indicates the movement of the hands. L - the left hand rises to the left side, R - the right hand rises to the right side, B - both hands rise up. Everything is very simple, if it were not so difficult to do all this at the same time. The exercise is performed in sequence from the first letter to the last, then from the last letter to the first. The following is written on the sheet.

This is how you can develop your precious brain for your own good. Train for health and have fun! And most importantly, feel the difference between your old self and your trained self!

Coordinate the work of the cerebral hemispheres

This simple practice allows you to revive one hemisphere, tired from monotonous work, and connect the idle one to it. To do this, you will need A4 paper, on which you horizontally, along a ruler, draw two criss-cross lines with a marker, like the letter X laid on its side. Hang this sheet at eye level so that it is convenient for you to look at it. Then you can leave it on, let it hang and remind you of the need to take care of yourself.

Looking at this sheet, breathing calmly and deeply, you do only two simple exercises, known from physical education lessons:

  • touch your left knee with your left elbow, then touch your left knee with your right elbow, preferably with your back straight. There are six such cross movements, 12 in total. You can do and count.
  • touch your left knee with your left elbow, then touch your right knee with your right elbow, preferably with your back straight. You must also do six such parallel movements.
  • Again 12 cross movements;
  • 12 more parallel movements;
  • and the last 12 cross movements.

All this will take you no more than 1.5 minutes, and you will immediately feel the effect in a noticeably refreshed head.

In general, the exercise is used to correct left and right hemispheric children. It is taken from applied kinesiology, the modern science of the body, and is based on the observation of infants. If the baby has not passed the crawling stage, he may have problems in the joint work of the hemispheres, which means that he will not use his potential, working only with half of the brain. We will apply this knowledge prophylactically to restore coherent brain function.

Consciousness

Here is a special program that has been developed over the years in seminars. Both athletes and people who connected their lives with meditation took part in this.

The exercises are called Consciousness Training. At first glance, they will not turn out to be pleasant. With their help, you realize how easy it is to find yourself in a difficult life situation and how difficult it is to find a way out of it and be reborn again. Consciousness training is, first of all, a complex of physical exercises, as well as mobility in every sense.

The American therapist Jean Houston found that during the training of consciousness, the IQ index significantly increases. Obviously, exercise leads to the formation of new nerve cells in the brain. A large number of these cells leads to increased intelligence capabilities.

Such exercises are ideal for fulfilling the requirements of any complexity and for the coordinated work of both hemispheres of the brain. They also increase our concentration. The program promotes the development of coordination between the brain and the body (coordinated work of the brain and body parts). By using the left hemisphere, it does not occur to us to attract the right, which would be useful in many situations. Exercises help to coordinate the work of body parts.

This type of gymnastics in the future can be enjoyable and is more effective than it seems at first glance. For a start, start with simple exercises, heavy ones can be painful.

Stroking the Belly and tapping the crown

The first part of the exercise involves rubbing the abdomen with your right hand in a clockwise direction. After that, tap the top of your head with your left palm, with the aim of increasing your mental capacity with light slaps. Pay attention that the movements are straight from top to bottom and vice versa.

The third step will be decisive: a combination of both movements. At the same time, pay attention not to mistake the movements by mistake: rotate with your right hand over your stomach, and move your left from top to bottom.

Once you are used to these movements, you can switch hands. Such exercises develop coordination well.

Describing circles

This exercise can be performed both while sitting and standing, but it is better to start by doing it while standing. Lean on your left leg first to keep your balance. Then begin with your right foot to draw circles on the floor in a clockwise direction. If this works, then you can proceed to the next exercise. Describe a circular motion parallel to the floor with your right hand, but counterclockwise. After that, move on to the third task: do both exercises at the same time. Right foot clockwise and right hand counterclockwise. This can be confusing, but that is the difficulty in getting both hemispheres to work at the same time.

Since the left hemisphere is more developed in women, and the right hemisphere in men, the body is accordingly divided into two parts: what is above the lower back is the male pole, below the lower back is the female. This division is arbitrary, but it corresponds to the prototypes of Taiji, signs where black Yin points lie on a white male Yang field, and vice versa, on a black Yin field there are white Yang points. Accordingly, the right “female” hemisphere is responsible for the right “male” part of the body, and the left “male” hemisphere of the brain is responsible for the left “female”.

The more you manage to combine exercises in this way, the easier it will be to harmonize our life, as well as combine masculine leadership traits with passive feminine qualities based on sensations.

Once you've mastered these exercises, you can change the direction of your workout.

Change the load completely and start exercising the left side of the body. You will immediately feel how far the workout on the right side has progressed. And between the two parts there is an exchange of experience.

Good physical condition has a beneficial effect on our state of mind, since everything in the body is closely interconnected. The microcosm of our organism and the macrocosm of the world and the entire Universe interact.

Click clack

Now you can start doing the challenging coordination exercises. Stand straight and raise your right hand up. This position is called a clack. Now, having described a semicircle, lower your hand down, this end position is called a clack.

Then, repeat the same with your left hand. And again, a position with a raised hand is designated as a click. Now, describing a semicircle, lower your hand 90 ° to a horizontal position. Ala the left side of the body is the clack position. The next movement, hand down, is again called a click. Thus, there are three changes of position for the left side: upper and lower - click, and in the middle - clack. Coordinating the work of both body parts in the same click-clack-click-clack-click-clack rhythm will not be easy at first. Start at a slow pace, then the movements will automatically enter the desired rhythm. Despite the seeming impossibility of performing, this is a very simple exercise. The result will be unexpected and overwhelming.

Spend a few minutes on the exercise and you will get an amazing effect. I recommend doing the exercises before important events in which coordination is especially important. For example, before a long bike ride, they are just as relevant as the subsequent stretching, which, by tensing the contracting muscles, brings them back into shape.

It was found that the brain is divided into 2 parts, each of the lobes is responsible for some actions. Only one side of the brain cannot work, 2 hemispheres are always involved, but one of them, in most people, functions more actively than the second, which can be seen from the type of activity, behavior, and so on.

What is the left side of the brain responsible for?

The left hemisphere is responsible for logic, verbal and non-verbal communication, math, writing and reading. With the participation of the left lobe of the brain, we take all the words literally, it controls the work of the right side of the body. People who have a more developed left side of the brain are organized personalities, they try to maintain order in everything, live listening to their minds, not giving free rein to emotions.

Over time, academics came to the conclusion that the development of the cerebral hemispheres should be uniform, because most scientists and inventors synchronously used both sides of their brain, which allowed them to make non-standard decisions, thanks to which they achieved success in different areas of life.

What functions is the right cerebral lobe associated with?

The right hemisphere processes non-verbal information, which is presented in the form of pictures, symbols, signs and schematic pictures. The party is responsible for recognizing faces and emotions on them. People with a more active right hemisphere:

  • have musical talents;
  • well oriented in space;
  • solve puzzles;
  • are distinguished by good imagination and daydreaming;
  • often have a talent for drawing;
  • are capable of simultaneous processing of information from different sources.

Such people stand out for their eccentricity, they are often interesting and creative personalities.

How do you know which of your hemispheres is more active?

Before developing the right hemisphere of the brain, people need to know which side is working more actively. Prepared test checks will assist in the determination.

Test number 1

You need to carefully look at the picture and determine what is on it.

If you saw an image of a girl in the picture, then your right lobe of the brain is more developed, if you managed to see the old woman, then the opposite side is more active.

Test number 2

The next test is to find a man's head among the coffee beans. Search time should not exceed 3 minutes.

Now let's look at the results, if you found what you were looking for:

  • in less than 3 seconds, the right hemisphere is well developed;
  • in 60 seconds, development is normal;
  • from 1 to 3 minutes, not well developed, it is recommended to consume more meat.

If the search took more than 3 minutes, the work of the right side of the brain is poor, it is advisable to get acquainted with the information on how to develop the right hemisphere of the brain in adults.

It has been established that most people work more with one lobe of the brain, but there are also those who use both equally. Basically, these people are geniuses, they have a good memory, are able to quickly analyze what is happening and are very attentive. It is also possible for an ordinary person to become ambidextrous, for this it is necessary to develop the right hemisphere of the brain.

To determine the active side of the brain, in addition to test tasks, one can focus on some behavioral traits characteristic of left-handed, right-handed and ambidextrous individuals.

The nature of right-handers

Such people listen to other people's opinions and try to live by generally accepted rules. Right-handers can be characterized as follows:

  • predictable;
  • sequential;
  • reliable;
  • principled.

They try not to go into conflict, show little emotion, have an analytical mindset and can achieve heights in the exact sciences.

The nature of left-handers

Lefties are emotional and impulsive individuals, they are rarely conservatives by nature, they always want change. Left-handers are individualists, they are not satisfied with the usual foundations, they live by their own rules, they can be stubborn and withdrawn. Lefties find it easier to succeed in their creative work.

The nature of the ambidextrous

People with both sides of the brain working simultaneously are flexible and versatile. They are characterized by responsiveness and emotionality, they have a well-developed intuition. Ambidexters have the ability to see a little more than ordinary people, they often become pioneers of something and can achieve success in almost any field.

Exercises for developing the right hemisphere of the brain

It is worth noting that at birth all people have right-sided thinking, later some of us change the side of the intellect. To activate the work of the right hemisphere, right-handers should begin to carry out daily activities with their left hand. Difficulties may arise at first, later the process will become natural and habitual. The result will be that a person begins to think creatively and will discover new talents in himself. In order to train the hemisphere faster, it is recommended to do some other exercises.

Sound training

The first lesson consists of the following actions: you need to find a quiet place, relax, close your eyes and pretend that someone is calling you. Now you need to determine which of the acquaintances the voice was, listen and understand what he says else.

The technique of the second exercise is similar, only now you need to remember the words of your favorite song and allow it to “play in your head” with a clearly presented speech.

Visualization

The visualization technique is to represent a white sheet of paper on which a name is written. Now you need to imagine how the letters begin to change color, if possible, then it is desirable to change the background of the paper, this will help to improve the work of the right hemisphere faster.

Tactile sensations

The next exercise on how to develop the right hemisphere of the brain is to use the tactile senses. For example, we visually imagine that we are eating a dish. In the same way, you can imagine a smell or draw an image.

Mirroring

The mirror painting technique promotes the development of both hemispheres of the brain. You need to prepare a piece of paper and 2 pens with which you need to draw the same objects at the same time. Performing such exercises for the development of both hemispheres of the brain, a person will begin to think creatively.

Creation

The activation of the right lobe of the brain occurs through creative activity. The child and preschooler receive exercises for their intellect during classes at school or in a circle. An adult or teenager needs to visit museums, theaters, listen to good music and read books for development.

Finger training

In this exercise, the work is done by moving the fingers. We clench our fists and begin to straighten one by one, first the thumb of the right hand, after the index finger on the left. Then the index finger on the right and the thumb on the left. After it turns out to perform the exercise correctly, the pace must be accelerated.

How to draw the number 8

The right side is trained in the following way: the left hand is put forward, the head is placed on the same shoulder. Now we focus our gaze on the index finger, with which we draw the number 8 in the air. Repeating the movement 10 times, it is necessary to change the hand and the position of the head.

Working with touch

To perform this exercise, a person needs to imagine something by touch. You can try to feel the softness of cat hair, roughness of paper, cold or hot water with your hands.

Parallelism of movement

This exercise involves drawing 2 parallel lines. The resulting pattern should be placed at eye level. Now you need to step, touching your left knee with your left palm, and your right knee with your right hand.

Yoga to activate the right lobe of the brain

It is better to start yoga classes in the morning, this will force the brain to actively use its functions throughout the day. Before starting classes, experts recommend meditating for several minutes. It is worth noting that such activities are very useful for children and patients. Now let's get down to physical education itself:

  1. We stand up comfortably, legs apart shoulder-width apart.
  2. We press our tongue to the sky, as if preparing for the pronunciation of the letter "L."
  3. With the left fingers, we pinch the lobe of the right ear so that the thumb lies in front and the index finger is in the back. With the right hand, we perform similar actions with the opposite ear. The cross formed on the chest should be arranged so that the right hand is on top.
  4. In the same position, you need to sit down, with a simultaneous deep breath, hold your breath for a second and rise with a slow exhalation.

Such gymnastics is performed within 3 minutes, the developed breathing tactics cannot be changed. The technique allows you to develop both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The body starts up systems that were not previously available. According to American schoolchildren and observations of them, they managed to turn on some brain systems that were inactive, they began to study well.

They are mirrored, but they are not. If you study the question more closely, you will notice their asymmetry. When measuring the size of the brain, it turns out that the left hemisphere is always slightly larger than the right. But that's not the only difference. The right hemisphere contains long, connecting distant regions of the brain, and the left has short fibers that form connections in a limited area.

Medical observations

Examining the brain of a patient who suffered from loss of speech, Paul Broca, a French physician, in 1861 drew attention to the fact that in the left hemisphere the part of the frontal lobe, which is responsible for the generation of speech, was damaged.

And only recently have scientists been able to determine what else each hemisphere is responsible for. The fact is that during normal functioning our brain works as a single coherent system, and information is instantly transmitted from hemisphere to hemisphere along a wide bundle of nerve fibers that connect them. These fibers are called

In epilepsy, this connecting bridge can cause problems and damage the brain. In an effort to prevent such an outcome, neurosurgeons in some cases dissect the corpus callosum.

Such patients live a normal life, and scientists can carefully examine the work of the hemispheres separately. And that's what was determined.

Able to express himself by speech, perform complex calculations and logical operations. The right hemisphere responds only to simple, light speech.

But the right hemisphere is excellently aware of space and structure, so it creates geometric patterns and drawings with a perspective better than the left. The left hemisphere controls the right side of the body, and the right one controls the left.

When the right hemisphere is damaged, a person experiences violations in the recognition of faces or the perception of information, depth and space. The scientists obtained additional information on the relative specialization of the right hemisphere by observing patients who have impaired speech, but the ability to sing remains. It follows from this that the right hemisphere is responsible for musical ability.

Differences between the hemispheres

Asymmetry is mental, sensory and motor interhemispheric.

When studying psychophysiological functions, it was found that the control over the verbal information channel in speech is carried out by the left hemisphere, and over the non-verbal channel, i.e. voice and intonation, follows the right. in the left hemisphere is performed analytically, sequentially, according to the principle of induction. The right hemisphere processes the incoming information at the same time, synthesizing it, according to the principle of deduction.

The left hemisphere most often represents positive emotions and suppresses the expression of weak emotions. The right hemisphere is more "emotional" and represents mostly negative emotions, controlling the manifestations of the strong.

In the sensory sphere, the right and left hemispheres differ in their ability to perceive. The right hemisphere of the brain perceives a whole visual image and copes with the task of distinguishing objects and visualization more easily. The left hemisphere approaches the assessment of the visual image in a divided, analytical way. Consciousness and are mainly associated with it.

Motor asymmetry of the hemispheres is expressed in right-left-handedness, which is controlled by the motor cortex of the brain of the opposite hemisphere.

Right hemisphere development

To develop intuition, one must learn to activate the right hemisphere. How can this be achieved? The simplest and most natural way is to engage in those activities in which the right side of the brain is "turned on". These are all types of creativity: drawing, singing, dancing, as well as listening to music, smelling, operating with symbols, images.
